Genuinely hate the way people, especially white people, react to older and ancient religious or spiritual artifacts, especially in cultures predominantly of color. Like its not creepy, it's not cursed, it's not haunted. It's a symbol of man's respect for what they had not yet understood, it's a symbol of man's appreciation and thanks to the natural world both in literal thanks for provision or thanks for being protected and spared, or a plea to BE protected or spared, it's a symbol of humanity's constant need for the spiritual to find strength in some capacity when it's hard to draw it forth from within; they're genuinely just embodiments of so many interesting things to be said about us across time and culture that remind of us of how vulnerable we've always felt.
