this is the first scene in the entire run of the show where Din is legitimately terrified. there is no moment where he gains the upper hand. he never gets over his fear, and he has nothing smart or coherent to say even as the imperial officer is openly mocking him. he is only just barely weathering the overwhelming terror of being without his helmet in a roomful of people who actively relish killing Mandalorians and stripping them for parts. he knows he has to do this to get the kid back but it so very clearly costing him and you can see he is hanging on by a thread
