honestly, you were never a good liar. not even as a kid. especially not with sion. no matter how hard you tried, the truth always found a way out of your mouth when it came to him.

you took a slow sip of your cocktail, your eyes scanning the dance floor as you waited for sakura and minju to come back. they had gone off to chase down some guy Sakura thought was cute and apparently needed his number right now.

“are you going to fess up now?”

you flinched a little at the sound of sions voice. he wasn’t even looking at you, his eyes were fixed on the bodies dancing under the neon lights, calm but unreadable.

“i thought you said you’d drop it,” you replied, trying to keep your voice even. your teeth had found your bottom lip before you could stop them. you were hoping the conversation would end right there.

“seeing as you’re not even enjoying yourself here, I’m assuming it’s bothering you,” he said calmly, the way he always does when hes right.

you hated that about him, how quick he was to catch on. he read behavior like a book. he should’ve majored in psychology with how annoyingly well he saw through people.

“what are you talking about? i am enjoying myself,” you said with a fake smile that you knew wouldn’t convince him. sure enough, he frowned.

“yn, you know I know you better than anyone. don’t try to fool me or yourself.”

he set his drink down on the small table between you, his tone was softer now, like he was trying not to make you feel bad.

“i ust didn’t want to worry you... or the girls. I’ve done that enough.”

sion nodded like he understood, and you knew he did. thats what made this worse.

“you worry us more by keeping things to yourself,” he said. “we’re friends, yn. that means letting us be there for you.”

your chest tightened, you looked down at your heels, watching how they shimmered under the bright lights.

“i know. i just... i don’t really know how to feel right now,” you admitted, voice barely rising above the music.

“i won’t force you to tell me anything,” he said gently. “i just want you to know that I’m here.”

you nodded. “that you,” you murmured, almost drowned out by the heavy bass echoing around the club.

“oh! by the way—”

sion suddenly perked up, setting his drink down again and shimmying in his seat to pull his phone from his pocket. you blinked, caught off guard by the sudden change.

“a guy in my class wanted your help with his project. the one I mentioned to you?”

“the gaming one?” you asked, curious now.

he nodded eagerly. “yeah! his name’s sohee. he’s cool, super passionate about CS—but his design skill is... well, it’s super bad.”

he handed you his phone, and you glanced over the guy’s Instagram.

after a few seconds, you handed it back.

“i’m not sure... you know I don’t work for free.” you brought your drink to your lips again. the lipstick smudged and printed to the cup.

“obviously,” sion said, grinning. “but I can set up a meeting. you guys can talk about the details, see if you’re interested?”

you hesitated, thinking the idea over in your head.

“come on, he’s desperate,” sion added, whining now.

you smiled in spite of yourself. “okay, fine.”

sion lit up and immediately started typing out a message. just as he put his phone away, sakura and minju returned to the table, both giggling like teenagers.

“guys, sakura was totally freaking out!” minju shouted between laughs.

“shut up!” Sakura hissed, smacking her arm with a smile that said she wasn’t actually mad.

you laughed too, the tension in your shoulders easing a little. for the first time that night, you actually felt like you were truly enjoying yourself.

a/n: this took way longer than needed, so forgive me for that. there were some character changed as well, also some spelling errors! also let’s ignore the fact minju is spelled minjun in the contact name i had it as minjune at first but decided to change it. i hope you guys liked this chapter!!
