"Is this a dragon?" Poll results

So, in the last few weeks I ran three polls asking whether or not people knew if my character was a dragon or not.

The results were...interesting, to say the very least.

Round one: is this a dragon?

The correct answer: I am not sure.

This is a character from a story I have in works, and I have officially not shared enough information of them for people to be able to tell whether they are a dragon or not. Even if the yes or no answers were correct, I do not accept them because there is no real way for anyone else aside from myself to know what they are.

Round two: is this a dragon?

The correct answer: no.

Devil bats are creatures introduced in my comic, Storm Rider. They are giant flying bat-like mammals, not reptiles (and despite their name they are not related to bats, either).

Final round: is this a dragon?

The correct answer: yes.

Louhi is an established dragon character appearing also in Storm Rider. I have always tagged art with him as dragon and referred to him as such in the alt texts, too. (Only if people read tags/alt text, though...)

—The wind howled. It was a deafening whistle in ears. Every drop of water against the face felt like a hit from a whip. Lightning all around shook the air, making the feebly fluttering silvery wings tremble. Like their miraculous shine that was a beacon of light in the endless darkness and chaos, it also was a miracle how they could stand against the elements thrown at them mercilessly. And yet, the wings held on.

Oh yeah, some vital pieces of information I forgot to mention in this post:

No, Tumblr does not give you any notification about when your post gets flagged. And no, it does not notify you if your blog gets labeled as mature, either.

Isn't it great that your blog can be incorrectly labeled as mature and there is no way you can see this for yourself, as the site does not show it to the person running the blog, and all you can do is be vigilant and notice whenever the "review flagged posts" tab on your blog management interface is visible, or someone is corteous enough to tell you about it if they notice the mature label on you.

A truly fine working system right here.

About two months ago, mid-April 2025, Tumblr incorrectly flagged an old art post of mine as sexually explicit (for those who don't know, I am entirely sn SFW artist, so my work is safe for everyone.). This isn't something entirely new, as I've got some other false claims like this before, and been able to appeal them through their review system.

However, this time they refused my appeal, and decided to keep the post flagged as sexually explicit. Said post is this little art prompt drawing from 2017:

Old art post or not, I was not going to stand this. I contacted Tumblr Support, asking them to look at the post again and correct their mistake. And so I waited. And waited. And waited.

Fast forward to yesterday (June 17th, about two months later after my post was flagged), where I got this email, finally saying that the post had been unflagged:

All's well that ends well, right? Well, not quite.

Because there is this one paragraph in the email that concerns me:

It says that my entire blog had been classified as mature.

This art blog that only posts SFW art.

A small art blog of a very small artist that already greatly suffers from gaining any visibility in the big algorithms of social media, having their visibility hindered even more by this mistakenly given mature label I had hard time to correct.

Tumblr is a website. Not maybe a functional one, but it sure is something. And it sure is a place to be if you are an artist. Not maybe a good place to be, but it is a place.

(Also, a "fun" bonus at the end: after this post had been finally unflagged, Tumblr oh-so kindly flagged three more of my old posts as sexually explicit, none of them even containing any sexual content as I do not post any. Thanks, Tumblr.)
