Photographs and Promises Made In December || h.rj
Pairings: Huang Renjun x Reader
Genre: Angst
Warnings: None
Word Count: 1.3K
Author’s Note: This is a short one shot that I wrote last night. I’ve been emotionally unstable for a while but I’ll get back to writing the Heirs Series. I hope you all continue to stay with my stories! Thank you for all your support! A little fun fact, this story is based off my experiences, the plot in this story is about the relationship I had with my ex and it explain how we went down. I hope you enjoy it!
Do you ever think about how life would turn out if you’d just been strong enough to hold on and continue fighting? If you would’ve been happier if you risked one last chance to make it up?
What if you had been patient and gave him space to breathe? What if you opened up about your darkest thoughts and deepest emotions? Would it have made a change?
Maybe.
You picked up your phone, staring at the polaroid that was stuck on to the back of your case. Both of you looked happy in the said photograph. Naive, not knowing that all that would come crashing down and falling apart sooner or later.
No one expected it to happen, not your friends, not your family, not even both of you. With the distance that separated you, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
Renjun looked ravishing in his simple grey hoodie, his fingers interlocked with each other behind his back while you leaned a little closer to him. You looked adorable in your red top with denim skirt.
“1, 2, 3, smile!” With that, a flash of light blinded your eyes as a piece of glossy paper slipped out of your friend’s mini polaroid camera.
You smiled at the photo of you and Huang Renjun. He was your ultimate crush, the feelings were reciprocated and to you, that photo was the best christmas present that you could’ve asked for.
~~~
However, both of you agreed to meet up the next weekday in order to make it up to eachother. You gave him a pack of chocolates and a simple letter as a gift while you received a hug.
You loved hugs, so not getting an actual gift didn’t faze you. You were not the materialistic type anyway. Renjun was the shy and quiet type of person who would be too ashamed and scared to give you a gift because he thought you wouldn’t like it.
So, you never really wanted him to give you gifts and letters because you never wanted to pressure him, and that was alright. All you needed was reassurance, affection and time. Which he delivered.
Huang Renjun was an ideal type of boy. He was smart, had a great sense of humour, always seemed innocent and definitely knew how to have fun. He was a gentleman, playing with feelings was not in his nature. Whether you’re a stranger, or a good friend, he would flash you a soft smile that could make your heart mushy. For Huang Renjun was always this soft angel.
~~~
It was April and specifically, your birthday.
“Happy Birthday Princess. Here’s a bunch of pictures of me just to make up as a birthday present. Sorry I can’t see you.” Due to certain circumstances and the situation, Renjun and you were forced to be apart.
You smiled at his little message that woke you up. Your heart swelled at his set of photos. Renjun was absolutely adorable. His soft smiles could make your heart flutter in ways unexplainable.
Being away from Renjun, you thought that it would only make your relationship stronger, as if the distance was a test. At first, it didn’t seek like a big deal.
However, as days, weeks and months passed by, the connection started fading. He was often busy with other things like games and other extracurricular activities. You didn’t give it a thought for the first few weeks.
But going past weeks without communication really bugged you. Every night you’d go to bed hoping that when you woke up the next day, everything would go back to the way it was.
You tried confronting him, asking him why he hasn’t talked to you for weeks. Renjun’s answer was simple yet struck a nerve.
“I was just lazy to.” Simple yet it was the truth.
Lazy? His reasons confused you. Why would he purposely ignore you for weeks simply because he was lazy? Stupid as it may be, but Renjun’s answer definitely struck a spot and that ached.
~~~
It’s May, and up till now, the problem of still not talking with Renjun haunted you each night. You didn’t know what to do anymore.
You knew very well that he was not busy, not busy on important matters at least. His friends said that he replies to their messages, but why couldn’t he do the same to yours?
Different thoughts ran wildly through your head. Could it be that he was tired? Or no longer wanted you? Maybe he just doesn’t feel the same way anymore?
It hurt you to think that way, but it could not be helped. Most of your friends gave you the encouragement to let him go. They knew very well that you were disappointed, in pain.
You’ve considered doing so too, however you knew Renjun held a big part of your heart. Letting go would not be easy.
Weeks have passed and it was evident that Renjun tried to pull every excuse he could to not speak with you. Telling you that he was busy, or he didn’t have freedom with his phone. However, every time you logged in to a certain game that both of you used to play with each other, he was online and in a game.
~~~
June rolled around the corner and it was probably the most hardest month out of all that. Renjun still refused to have a casual conversation with you. He tried desperately to find a way to make himself busy.
You tried talking to him, confronting him about the problem, but everytime you tried, he just shuts you out, so you eventually gave up.
You shut yourself away, avoiding any form to talks with your friends on what you wanted to make out of the relationship. For you yourself had no idea what to do. You had no idea what you wanted to do.
You loved Huang Renjun, despite the pain he brought upon you, you wouldn’t deny that you’re heart flutters at the mere mention of his name. It skips a beat when you come across a picture of him, his soft smile playing on his beautiful lips.
So despite all that, you’d push that pain away and fool yourself with the hopes that maybe he’d come back, that maybe he might change.
You confronted him many times this month, but all of it resulted to nothing. You just never felt that genuine affection anymore. It all seemed to be forced, like he was forced to reply to your messages or holding back on breaking up because he was, pitying you?
~~~
It’s July, and a month away from being half a year together. Nothing has changed, still no communication, maybe it was really time to let go and break away.
Unable to bear the pain any longer, you grabbed the polaroid both of you took in December and caressed the photo softly, tears threatening to fall from your eyes.
“Let’s break up.” You trembled as you tapped on the send button.
A few minutes later, Renjun replied withe the coldest reply he could pull together. The tears that pricked your eyes finally went crashing down like snowflakes on a winter day.
“Yes, let’s do that.” And with that, exited your life.
Your eyes fixated on the photograph that was on your hand, who knew at that moment, 6 months from then, the person that made you feel the happiest would break you into pieces?
So, with burning tears and heavy breaths, you tucked the photograph along with the promises made in December into a small box, kept away from your aching heart as Huang Renjun, the one who you thought was incapable of hurting you, shattered your broken heart into pieces beyond fixable.
• Author's Note: This is my second one shot under the "Heir / Heiress AU". This part will mention Na Jaemin a little more, but I assure you it still revolves and is associated with Jeno and the reader's relationship. Please do go back to part one before jumping to this. La Douleur Exquise 1
Tumblr media
"How does it feel to have Jaemin's hands all over you? Were you that desperate for attention that you had to sashay Jaemin in front of me?" Jeno growled as he bit marks onto your skin. It's been a week since his message and you've been avoiding him as much as possible. Ignoring his phone calls, and keeping him on read, this enraged Jeno even more, he was restless and he managed to get ahold of you today. As you were passing by, he grabbed your arm and pulled you into an empty classroom. He pulled you closer towards him and you could feel the anger radiate from his body. But you couldn't understand why. Jeno had no rights, and according to him, there were no strings attached to this little relationship of yours.
"Jeno." You whimpered as he placed kisses all over your neck. It was rough and full of lust, but you loved it, you indulged in all the things Jeno did to you, for he was worth all that pain. Lee Jeno was worthy enough to shatter your already damaged heart. He could do anything to you and you would never complain, for Lee Jeno was the epitome of a collision between heaven and hell. He could destroy you with his words of rejection, yet he could patch those wounds by his wet kisses.
"Baby, you are mine. Only mine." He says and pulls away from you. His eyes scanned your features thoroughly. A playful smile crept up his lips and he touched your foreheads together, his eyes staring deeply into your dark ones. "Please stay baby. I need you." Jeno whispers and you hum in response. He didn't have to tell you twice. Despite the numerous tears that stained your pillow and the countless times you had to cover your mouth for your cries to be unheard, you'd still go back to Lee Jeno. Only Lee Jeno could hurt you this way, it was an agonizing desire that burned your soul, leaving it in ashes. Yet, it was still him you see yourself falling for over and over again.
Unaware of the certain someone that stared from afar, you shared yet another rough kiss with Jeno.
"We should get going Jeno. You've skipped too many classes this month." You said and Jeno groans. He hated when you acted strict with him, Jeno did not like being told what to do. He was reckless and unruly, not even Seo Yun nor his friends could suppress that part of him. Although he might not act that way as much as before, Lee Jeno still had his reputations of ruining events and properties. Last year's gala preparations were held back due to the big fight that happened between him and Sunwoo. It ended with Jeno getting a bruised lip, Sunwoo had to get a cast since Jeno pushed him too hard and he stumbled into a pile of arranged chairs and hitting his arm against the tables. Both students were not able to participate the gala. Walking out the classroom, you immediately went to your locker to grab a few books and jogging your way to class. It was 10 minutes before the bell rang but you had to cross over to the opposite building for your class.
"I expected you to be smarter than that." Jaemin said the moment you took your seat beside him. Confused, you frowned at him and crossed your arms over your chest.
He looks over at you and combed his black hair with his fingers. "You always go back to Lee Jeno, despite the pain he brings you. How much more until you realize you and him would never work out princess?" He says and your heart froze at what he said. Na Jaemin was right, he always was. But you loved Jeno, and despite knowing that it was wrong, you couldn't help it, you already fell for Jeno. You fell and still continue falling into this bottomless pit of darkness, unsure what lies ahead.
"Jaemin-" Before you could finish your sentence, the sound of the school's speakers blared through the entire school. "Students in Class 4A to 4C, your subject teachers are unable to meet with you, so all of you are free to leave the school campus early for today." Professor Kim's voice rung in your ears.
"I just wished you'd realize that he could never love you the way I do. And, I do genuinely hope you'd change your point of view and give me a chance. But I guess not." He said and stood up to exit the classroom. With the blink of an eyes, Jaemin was gone, and what he said to you stuck like glue.
Na Jaemin liked you? What a turn of events.
___
"Tell me. Do you really like her?" Jaemin asks as Jeno types vigorously on his phone, his eyebrow raised at Jaemin's question but spared him no look at all. "Jeno, you can't always expect for her to be there to fulfill your sexual desires. Y/N is not some toy you play around with." Renjun butts in, his glasses drooping from his face as he scribbles roughly on his notes.
The group decided to stay in their hangout spot for a few hours before actually going home. Since Jeno had been ignoring his friend, Jaemin thought this was the perfect opportunity to confront him about you. And Renjun was onboard this plan too. Although you and Renjun never talk, it didn't take a genius to notice the way Jeno has been mistreating you. He knew you were a good person, you ranked above the 20 places during exams, and you were also classmates in one subject.
"Who?" Jeno asks clearly annoyed with the two interrogating him. Deep inside he crossed his fingers that Donghyuck would just shut his mouth about the situation, for Donghyuck was always a pain in the ass to talk to, let alone have a debate with. "Look, I don't know if you're stupid or heartless, but Jeno, Renjun is right." Well it seemed like the gods hated him. Donghyuck speaks up, leaning back on his chair and blowing a puff of breath.
"So, will you just keep telling me all these things, while I am clearly dumbfounded as to who you guys are talking about?" Jeno spits out, slamming his phone on the table.
"Y/N!" Both Jisung and Chenle shouts, piqued at the tension inside the room. It seems that Jaemin, Renjun and Donghyuck were not the only ones that knew about your little relationship with Jeno, the younger ones were always observant about every little detail. If only it were possible, Jeno would've just dived into the gateway to the underworld. He'd rather die in the hands of Cerberus, or even Hades himself than to discuss about what was going on between you and him to his friends.
Jaemin closed his notebook and stared intently at Jeno, "Do you really like Y/N or not?" He asked. His voice dropped an octave lower, which shocked the others at the sudden change of tone. Jaemin was never the one to be too serious about anything, he looked at things in such a cheerful perspective, but now, it seemed all the jokes drained out of his body. Jaemin was grim, and it scared his friends, especially Lee Jeno.
"No. I don't." He answered and from there, it was as if someone had poured gasoline on the already burning flames of rage in Jaemin's system. "Then why do you still mess around with her?" Donghyuck asked, setting his pen on the table and looking up at Jeno.
"Because she's naïve. She thinks we can have this happily ever after despite knowing I'll be engaged to Seo Yun after all this." That was the last strand, Jaemin lunges towards Jeno, grabbing his collar and giving him one hard punch on his face. Everyone was taken aback by his sudden action, except for Jeno, he smirked at his friend in a daring and playful way.
"Did Na Jaemin fall in love for that cheap trash that I hook around with? Do you really enjoy picking up my leftovers? You're pathetic." Jeno taunts and before Jaemin could send another blow, Jisung pulls him away. Chenle and Donghyuck held onto Jeno, trapping him in order to avoid him pouncing on Jaemin. Meanwhile, Jisung hugged Jaemin tightly, stripping him of any way to reach Jeno.
"Jeno stop it. Jaemin calm down." Renjun steps in, his hands on both Jeno and Jaemin's chest. Despite his smaller frame compared to the others, the group fears Huang Renjun for he was always the one that kept everyone in line, especially at things like this
"This is stupid. You're dumb enough to freaking play around with feelings, yet it was wrong of Jaemin to pounce on you like that. I get that neither of you agree on the ways you feel for Y/N, but will you really cause another ruckus just for her?" Renjun says, dropping his hand to his sides while the members slowly loosened their grips on the two boys. Glaring at Jeno, Jaemin grabs his bag and leaves the room before the others could stop him. Lee Jeno was heartless, and he hated that. He could never look at his friend the same way ever again. He despised Lee Jeno, and he hoped you'd hear him out.
As soon as Jaemin walked out the room, a devilish grin played on Jeno's lip. He's always known about the feelings of affection Jaemin had for you, but he was selfish. He liked playing with you, he relished in the thought of how easy it was to fool you, to simply use you for his own selfish gains. Seeing his best friend fall head over heels for you was like the cherry on top his favorite milkshake. He savored the idea of Na Jaemin going out of his way to save you from him.
"Jeno. Please stop. Not only are you hurting her, Jaemin is in pain by simply watching Y/N act stupid for you. And soon enough, your father and Seo Yun might find out about it. Her father will lose his job." Donghyuck says, his arm patting Jeno's shoulder.
Renjun sighed beside Jeno and took off his glasses, setting it on the table. "Are you that heartless? To strip away a family's source of income just so you can satisfy your sexual desires?" Renjun asked while packing his bag. Jisung and Chenle were simply listening to the conversation while they shared a can of soda.
Jeno rolled his eyes at their remarks, but he couldn't help but think, was he really that bad? Maybe he was, but he would never admit his fault, for his pride was one of the things he valued too much. Grabbing his bag and keys, he exited the room and headed to the school's parking lot. A drift around the streets of Seoul would clear his mind, he thought.
Fisting his black hair, Jaemin opens the door to his car and places his bag in the backseat. He was infuriated with the words that spilled out of Jeno's mouth; it drove him crazy. He never knew that his own friend was capable of saying such bleak claims. He understood that Jeno needed you to calm him down, but to the extent of calling you trash and treating you like you were less of a human; it was irrelevant.
"What's got you thinking so deep hm?" Your voice, it was a soothing and a warm melody to Jaemin's ears. Looking up, your eyes connect with each other's and it was as if all of his problems drained out of his body. You've always been his source of relaxation; with you he was calm and collected. Therefore, he refers to you as his lifeline. He depends on you to maintain his serenity. And you were always successful in doing so, for a simple smile from you had always worked effectively on Na Jaemin.
At a loss for words, Jaemin simply grabs your arm and pulls you into his embrace. He was warm and soft, you wrapped your arms on his torso as he wraps one hand on your waist and the other on the back of your head, pushing your head deeper into his blazer. It was a comforting gesture, an escape to all the stress you've been through the past few weeks. "I need you princess." He whispers.
Pulling away from him, you stare up into his eyes and smiled softly, "I'm here Jaemin. You can talk to me." You said and he pulls you into another embrace. A few more minutes passed and the two of you remained in the same position until you pulled away since you had to head home, in which Jaemin offered to drive you back.
___
Your eyes were burning due to the lack of sleep, so you opted to put away your notebooks and get ready for bed. Glancing at the clock, it showed 2:13 a.m. therefore, you really needed to be in bed. You sighed and stood up from the table to walk towards your bed. Your phone buzzed from your table so you grabbed it and placed the covers over your body. Surely, your father was asleep in the room opposite from yours so he wouldn't really mind if you were still awake at this hour.
"Baby. Can we talk tomorrow?" It was a message from Jeno. Shaking your head, you left him on read and tucked yourself in your bed, drifting off into a deep, and much needed slumber.
You woke up to the sound of your alarm, and you scrambled out of bed to prepare breakfast for your father. He usually woke up later than you since his shift started around 10 am. As you grabbed your phone, a notification displayed on your screen. "Meet me at the school's fountain by 7." It was another message from Lee Jeno.
You settled the device on the table and walked out your room to prepare. As soon as you were done, you knocked on the door of your father's room and bid him goodbye, with a matching kiss on his cheeks. Then, you exited the apartment to head to school.
"I didn't think you'd show up baby." His voice greeted you as soon as you took a step towards him. He pulls you into a tight embrace and you realized how much you missed Jeno acting soft with you. For the past few months, he was always on edge. Maybe it was due to the stress that was gaining on him, knowing he'd have to take over the company as soon as he graduated.
Families like Lee Jeno's and his friends, it was never that simple. Sure, they had privileges and everything they wanted, was always served on silver platters. But that would never change the fact that they experience tremendous amounts of pressure and high expectations from the people around them. Every one of them was bound to be successful, if not, they'd be humiliated and could even be the cause of the possible downfall of their family businesses. Which is the reason why you've always had high respects for students like Lee Jeno and his friends.
Especially Lee Donghyuck. He was an heir to the second biggest medicinal company all over South Korea. Of course, the biggest belonged to his best friend, or according to Na Jaemin, his girlfriend? It was a risky decision if you do say so yourself. But who were you to judge, you were also risking yourself for a wretched relationship? Huang Renjun owned the school and his mother also owns one of the best boutiques in China. Na Jaemin's family owned a bunch of hotels throughout Asia, which actually makes him one of the richest in their group. Zhong Chenle was the grandson of one of China's wealthiest entrepreneurs and even his mother opened up her own company, in which Chenle might inherit. Park Jisung's family owns one of the best dance studios in Seoul and he is a choreographer in the industry. Overall, the Dreamies were a group of wealthy, successful and well-known individuals throughout the country.
"I would always be at your beck and call, Jeno. It'll always be that way." You whispered and he hugged you tighter. You could feel his body heat radiate and it warmed you up. Jeno always had 2 sides to him; the rough and lustful one, but there was also the soft and fuzzy Jeno. He always confused you with his ever-changing approach.
"Baby, I have to attend a business gala with Seo Yun tonight. But can I count for you to be at Mark's party tomorrow night?" He asked, his chin atop your head. For the first time in months, Jeno actually felt comfortable and welcoming.
You pulled away and stared at him, "I'll try Jeno." And yet again, he flashes another beautiful smile. Jeno was sensuous, his well-proportioned body, toned abs that could be visible through his white shirt, and his sharp jawline that highlights his features.
Indeed, Jeno had the charisma of a Greek god, he was astonishing. Lee Jeno possessed the radiating beauty of the sun god Apollo but he was cursed with Ares' wrath and temper. He was an explosion caused by the collision of heaven and hell, he wreaks havoc in his wake and does not look back on those he hurt. Jeno was a whole chapter from the Greek mythology, but he could never be the whole book, for he tore pages off himself since the day his sister fled. He was missing himself, and that was the reason why he needed you. He needed you to fill in his gaping holes.
___
He's been there for weeks. Every time you walked by to head to your locker, he was always there with his head hung low and his hood covered his features, but you knew well enough who he was. Lee Jeno, he was the new heir to the Corsair Realty, one of the biggest real estate companies in South Korea. Supposedly, it was his sister that as to take over their company, but rumor has it that she fled the country to pursue her own career. It was simply a mere conclusion, but maybe that was the reason why you've seen Jeno mope around for the past weeks.
"Are you alright?" Your voice was even softer than it usually was and that made Jeno peek up, his head raising slightly as one eye stared at you. He seemed intimidating, even with just one of his eyes glued on you. You felt bad for the guy and decided that you might come up and talk to him.
As far as you knew, Lee Jeno was a part of the Dreamies. They're a small group of students in your school that had the titles of "wealthiest" and "most privileged" students. The group consisted of seven members, and they were very picky, refusing other people to join their group, wherein only the seven of them could be worthy of being a Dreamie. Somewhat, a clique if you do say so yourself.
The Dreamies were significantly popular, not only in the school but also throughout the country. For all the members were heirs of some of the biggest industries in South Korea. Mark Lee, he was the Canadian boy with jet black hair and adorable smile. He was the oldest amongst the group, being born in 1999. Mark was a senior in your school, and one of the highest achievers in their grade. His family owns a manufacturing company in both South Korea and Canada, which is the sole reason why he might leave the country after their graduation, for he will take over the company in Canada.
Next, Huang Renjun. Renjun was probably one, if not, the most well-known student in the school for his family owned the school itself. Aside from that, he originally came from China, and his mother owns one of the best boutiques there. Renjun was the smallest amongst their group, yet he was one of the most intimidating, for he always walked around the school with his sharp stares and burning gazes. It was not often to see Huang Renjun smile, unless he was with his friends. He sported this blonde hair with soft streaks of rainbow colors in pastel at the tips of it. Along with Na Jaemin and Lee Donghyuck, the three of them are some of the smartest students in your grade.
Na Jaemin, he was beautiful, like some prince charming ripped from the pages of a fairy tale. Unlike Renjun, Jaemin was always spotted smiling and greeting everyone who greeted him. He was adorable and always had this positive vibe around him. Jaemin loved to joke with his friends and make those around him laugh. He was known to be the angel of their group for he was clingy and loved to shower his friends with soft affection.
Lee Donghyuck was like a collision between Huang Renjun and Na Jaemin. He could be as frigid and sassy as Renjun yet, he had the same positive vibe just like Na Jaemin. He had such contrasting personalities, nevertheless, his friends seem to get along with him well. Maybe that was why Donghyuck stood out from his friends, all of them stood out. However, Lee Donghyuck always had this bright vibe around him, which is why he was named "Sunshine Hyuck". Aside from his playful persona, Lee Donghyuck was the smartest amongst them, which was another reason he could be easily identified amid their friend group.
Zhong Chenle was well known as the wealthiest member. He was the grandson of one of the most successful and well-off entrepreneurs in China, and his mother owned one of the largest manufacturing company in the country. Chenle was adorable, his vibes were like strawberries and marshmallows. Besides his cute and childish persona, he was often called as the "Dolphin" due to his high-pitched screams and laughs, which you only ever heard whenever he was with his friends.
Park Jisung, he was prodigious. At such a young age, he held the title of "Nation's Best Dancer" in Korea. Well, that was no surprise since his family owned one, if not the best dance studio in Seoul. Both his parents were preeminent dancers, including Jisung himself. At the age of 14, he started teaching small groups and choreographed a bunch of performances that were absolutely phenomenal.
And last but not the least was this gorgeous man I front of you. Lee Jeno. He was often distinguished as the troublemaker in the group. Jeno possessed this bad boy vibe, which suited him well - that you could never deny. Unlike his friends, he was supposedly the only one amongst them that was not an heir, and he never wanted to be. He believed that the responsibilities and expectations that came with it was not something he would enjoy. Jeno was wild, recalcitrant and he never likes the idea of people telling him what to do. He wants to do whatever he likes without any second thoughts and without the criticism weighing down on his back. But all that changed when his sister fled the country, leaving Jeno to inherit the company.
"Why are you here?" He asked, his voice was deep and hoarse - it sounded as if he was in pain. Trapped inside the mazes of his thoughts, running around, unable to find a way out, yet Jeno would never disclose that thought to his friends. He was afraid of being judged.
You smiled bitterly and extended your arm forward, offering him a cup of coffee that you bought for Heio's. IT has always crossed your mind to approach him for you felt the need to ask him if he was alright, and today seemed like a good day to do so. So, you stopped over at Heio's and ordered a caramel milkshake and some Vanilla latte, something sweet for Lee Jeno. You didn't even know if he liked coffee, but it was worth a shot.
He takes a swift glance at the cup extended towards him and narrows his eyes at you, "What is this?" He asked, clearly still confused and maybe annoyed as to why you initiated a conversation with him in the first place.
"A Vanilla latte, I figured maybe if you were not a big fan of coffee, this was something a little less strong." You answered, yet with such dulcet and baffled voice, it almost sounded like a question. Jeno brings his eyes back to the cup in your hands, and slowly reaches out for it, mumbling a thank you.
"I'll ask again, why are you here?" He asked as he took a small sip from the cup, his thin pink lips slowly leaving the cup. You took the time to stare at Lee Jeno and his enthralling features. Sharp jawline, soft pink lips and cat like eyes that disappears into thin slits whenever he smiled. He was agonizingly beautiful, like a fallen star that ripped through the sky and landed in earth. He was bewitching, however, don't let his charms blind you, for Jeno was never innocent in the first place. He was often distinguished as the troublemaker of the group.
Jeno often got into fights, and most of them end up to be a physical fight, and he has to be sent home to treat his wounds. Now, you were never classmates with Jeno, however Jaemin and Renjun were in some of your classes. With no intention to pry, you'd accidentally read the message from Donghyuck in their group messages with the quote, "He's done it again. Jeno is all bruised and was sent home." And by the end of the day, word has already spread about another fight that Lee Jeno took participation in.
"I've seen you here a lot more lately, and I knew something was wrong. So, I decided to come up and talk with you." You muttered, fiddling with your fingers for the way Lee Jeno stared at you made you feel so small. He had such a powerful and intimidating gaze, maybe that was why his friends never got in his way whenever they had arguments.
As mentioned, if Mark was not around, Huang Renjun tends to be the one to watch over the group, keeping each other in line, yet none of them had a say whenever Jeno wanted to do something that was against their will. Lee Jeno had the aura of an alpha; he was born to lead and protect his friends. However, he never acknowledged it, for despite his powerful demeanor, Jeno always had a soft spot for his friends, he could never bear the thought of having a huge fight with any of the members. For he believed, they were the only ones that could truly go with his pace.
That was until he met you, when his heart set ablaze for the first time.
"Look, thanks for your concern, but I don't need it." He answered and stood up. That was the first time you got to fully indulge in Lee Jeno's full attributes. He stood tall and proud, he resembled a young deity, and his presence was holy and powerful. Lee Jeno was ravishing, you could definitely understand why the school hallways were packed every time his group walks by the corridors. They were full of visuals, all of them were graced with such beauty that radiated gorgeously off their bodies.
And with that, Jeno left you wondering to yourself why your heart was drumming against your chest. What was this feeling? And why did you feel like this just because of Lee Jeno? Unconsciously, a smile crept up our lips as his large figure disappeared from your view. Shrugging off the weird feeling, you stood up and left the spot, heading to your classroom in time for the first class of the day.
It's been weeks since you first talked with Jeno and you still saw him by the bench beside the school's fountain, and he still had that disappointed and tired look etched on his face. "You're here again." You said as you handed him another steaming cup of vanilla latte. Jeno peeked up to meet your gaze and slowly grabbed the cup of coffee from your hand.
"You're here too." He says and moves slightly to make some space for you. You smiled slightly and took your seat beside him. He attaches his lips to the cup and takes a small sip of the latte, his eyes fluttering as the sweet taste burns his tracks and sets his body in flames. He wasn't able to get enough rest for the past months and he really needed that energy to boost him up.
"Why do you always show up here huh?" He asks, moving his head slightly to take in your features. Long black hair, soft lips and scattered freckles on your face. You had an innocent look and he never wanted to be the one to stain that part of you. Since that day you first came up to him, he was never able to get your image off his mind, it's like you were there to remind him that despite the hell he was treading, there would always be a light at the end, and that light could possibly be you.
"It just seems like you need company." You said and Jeno chuckled, it was the first time you ever heard him laugh near you. Like said before, Lee Jeno only enjoys with his friends, without them he walks around the school with such dangerous vibes, it seemed as if he held the gates to Tartarus in his hands.
"Well thanks a lot for that, but I can manage." He says, his fingers grazing the rim of the cup softly, as if his mind was drowning deeply in his own thoughts. You smiled bitterly and stared up the sky, letting the bright rays of the sunlight caress your skin.
"You know, if you're in deep pain, it's never wrong to tell your friends or someone about it. Keeping it to yourself just adds a weight on your shoulders." You said and Jeno stops midway, his finger leaving the rim of the cup and he stared up at you.
"I know that, but I would never let my friends carry that burden on their shoulders. It's my problem, and I couldn't be selfish by dragging them into it." He says firmly, his voice an octave deeper than before.
"If they really treated you as a good friend, despite how heavy that is, they will share that burden with you without complaint. Because friends will always be there to pick you up in your darkest times." You smiled at him and stood up from your spot. It was almost time for your class and you couldn't be late.
"Hey, is there a possibility that you could be that friend?" He asked and you looked back at him, flashing him your brightest smile and a small nod, before you finally disappeared from his view.
___
A bitter smile crept up your lips as you reminisced the moments of when your friendship started with Lee Jeno. Both of you were so naïve back then, none of you would've ever thought that he would be the cause of your affliction and that he would be the one to play with your emotions. How you wish you never looked back at him and flashed that smile of yours a year ago.
Your phone buzzed in your pocket and you fished it out to check the notification. It was a message from Na Jaemin.
"Hey princess, are you going to the party tomorrow?" Jaemin usually arrived in school at around 8 am so he probably is on his way so you typed up a reply and headed into the library. Finals were coming closer than you imagined and Jaemin decided to help you out by studying with you for the next few weeks.
"I might. It depends though." And with that, you walked all the way to the library, when you arrived it was quiet, most of the students usually arrive in school around 8 or 9 am, it pretty much depended on the schedules. But you favored heading to school early just so that it's less crowded and you could study in peace for at least an hour before others started piling in.
You took out your notebook and a book based on your topics, rewriting some terms and highlighting them, going over the notes a few times before moving on the next ones. Due to the number of lessons you had to go through, you totally lost track of time until Jaemin's name and picture popped on your phone's screen. It was an incoming call from Na Jaemin himself.
"I'm in the library, where can I find you princess?" He asked and you gave him directions to where you were seated. In less than a few seconds, Jaemin arrived with his heartwarming smile and took a seat beside you, settling his stationaries on the table.
Both of you went through the lessons a few times and helped each other in certain topics where one was confused in. Overall, it was very effective tactic since Jaemin was pretty smart and you both could learn a lot form each other. Checking the time, it was almost 9 and your classes were about to start, however Jaemin's one was at 9:30 so you decided to head out first and meet up with him after class.
As you were taking down notes, Renjun's cellphone buzzed and unconsciously, your eyes trailed on the notification. It seemed to be a message from Donghyuck.
"They're at it again. Jaemin and Jeno, in the room. I need help! Jisung and Chenle are in class." Renjun knew you read it and he glanced at you; your face depicted the emotions you were feeling. Horrified and in utter shock.
"Professor may we be excused? It's urgent." Renjun speaks up and the professor nods his head quickly. He didn't question him further for he knew who Huang Renjun was, and aside that, Renjun was not one to lie, when he says it's urgent, it is. And with that, Renjun grabs your hand and pulls you out of the classroom.
"I know only you can calm Jeno down, as soon as we arrive, you need to be on his side. We'll handle Jaemin." He says both of you zip through the never-ending hallway. After a few minutes, we arrived in front of a classroom with a sign that says "Authorized Persons Only, Dreamies Territory". Renjun gave me one last reassuring nod and he turns the knob to open the door.
"Damn it. I told you to stay away from her. You bring her nothing but pain!" You could hear Jaemin's once angelic voice turn into this intimidating growl as he grabbed Jeno's collar.
Jeno was smirking, a few stains of blood decorated his lips and Jaemin has a cut on the side of his eyebrow, probably due to the rings on Jeno's fingers when he punched him. Snapping out of your reverie, you rushed towards Jeno and pushed him away from Jaemin.
"Stop it. Jaemin that's enough." Renjun's voice echoes in the room as he tugged on Jaemin's arm while Donghyuck acted as a boundary between the two boys, his palms on both their chests. You could feel the anger radiate from both their bodies, never have you imagined that they could go to such lengths due to an argument.
"Donghyuck, get Jaemin out of here." Renjun ordered the younger boy and he nodded, dragging Jaemin out of the room, leaving you, Jeno and Renjun in the tensed room. Renjun glances at you and Jeno, your hands were in Jeno's larger ones as you stared up at his eyes.
"Will you be able to handle Jeno?" The boy asked and you nodded. With that, he left you with Jeno as he ran after the two boys. Turning back at Jeno, you cupped his cheeks and forced him to look at you. His hair was all messed up and his lips had blood on it, yet he still gave you a proud smile.
"I'm here Jeno. Breathe and talk to me." You whispered and he pulled you into a tight embrace, his chin rests on top of your head and he breathes in heavily, shaking slightly in the process. The scenario played out once more in your mind and what Jaemin said the moment you came in. Who could they be talking about? You?
"Baby, you mean so much to me. I need you." He murmurs in your hair and you closed your eyes, indulging in Jeno's words, despite knowing not 100% of it was true. Jeno could never feel that way for you, for you were simply his form of pleasure, the one who he relies on to boost his ego and make him feel better about himself. You were the one he needed to fill those holes, but you alone, isn't enough for him to be truly satisfied. You could never be enough for Lee Jeno, you were something temporary, easily replaceable.
You simply hummed in response and pulled away from him. Caressing his bruised lip, you look around the room, in search for a first aid kit. Jeno points to a shelf beside the television set and you walk over towards it, grabbing the kit and settling it on the bar table. Jeno walked towards the stool and took a seat, facing you.
You cleaned up his bruises and simply stared at him for a couple seconds. He was agonizingly beautiful. Like flowing lava, it was mesmerizing and elegant looking, yet when you touch it, it burns and leaves a mark. Lee Jeno was exactly like that; you knew it since the day you came up to him. How you wished you avoid getting in his business back then, you could've spared yourself from one excruciating heartbreak.
___
Your phone buzzed as you walked out the classroom, you weren't able to focus well in classes due to the incident with Jeno and Jaemin. The scenario just kept playing in your mind like a broken tape record, you were eager to find out what was the cause of their argument. However, you respected their privacy, so you had to tone down the curiosity and focus, even just 20%.
"I'll meet you at the school's parking lot. Wait for me by my car, I'll just drop off some of my things." It was Jaemin, both of you agreed to meet up after classes since he really wanted to go shopping with you. Since it was Mark's party tomorrow and Saturday, you obliged.
You made your way out to the parking lot and caught a glimpse of the blue Lexus in the front row. Another thing about the Dreamies, most of their cars have privileges too. It was well known that the Dreamies had their desired parking spot in the school, which was always up front. Jeno's Mercedes, Jaemin's Lexus, Donghyuck's Porsche, Renjun's Jaguar and Chenle's Bugatti were always the spotlight of the parking lot. Meanwhile, Jisung gets dropped off in his Bentley, however, after this school year, his parents are allowing him to drive for himself.
You stood in front of Jaemin's car as you flipped through some notes while waiting for him. It didn't take him long, after a few minutes, the sound of the car clicking snapped you out of your reverie and you saw Jaemin walk up to you with a soft smile on his lips. "Hi princess." He greets, grabbing your hands and intertwining your fingers together.
"Ready to go?" He asked and you nodded softly, he smiles and lets go of your hand, allowing you to walk to the passenger seat and getting in the car. He jogs over to the driver's and gets in, closing the door and revving the coupe to life. He steps on the gas pedal and pulls out of the school campus, driving off into the main road.
Jaemin was warm, he was always that way. He had this comforting vibe that engulfed you, it was as if he was always there to give you a hug. Once again, it crossed your mind, why couldn't you have fallen for Na Jaemin instead? Why did it have to be Lee Jeno and his devilish aura? You felt a hand graze your and intertwining your fingers. You look beside you to be faced with Jaemin's heartwarming smile.
"What's on your mind princess?" He asked, his gaze back on the road. Jaemin was an amazing driver, he drives fast yet in a smooth way. Unlike Jeno, who treats the road like a race track, zooming past all the cars and obstacles on the way, after the car ride every car ride, you were cursed with a throbbing pain in your head. But, Jeno enjoyed the idea of fast cars and screeching tires, he dwelled in the fantasies of being able to test the limits of his Mercedes.
"Nothing." You simply replied and leaned comfortably in his seats as he places soft kisses on the back of your hand, calming your chaotic mind. As the car ride continued, your mind wandered off once more, the argument between Jeno and Jaemin.
Who could they be talking about? Seo Yun? But, Jaemin was never close with Seo Yun, he thought of her as someone who smooches off the Dreamies and gains fame by being Jeno's girlfriend. She would often ask Jeno to accompany her shopping, and it would always end up with him spending a couple hundred thousand on her. A gold digger, as deemed by Na Jaemin himself.
___
The trip to the mall was not bad. Aside from you and Jaemin arguing half the time that you would pay for the numerous bags of clothes that he picked out for you, it was definitely a fun experience. He dragged you into a bunch of the most luxurious brands and picked out a bunch of different clothes for you. You felt bad so you offered to pay, however Jaemin insisted that it was his gift for you. And Jaemin didn't take no for an answer.
So, you entered the apartment with 3 bags in your hands, and Jaemin following behind with a few more. "Good evening sir." Jaemin greeted your father as he settled the bags on the table. Your father stood up to greet him and initiated small talks with the boy. You smiled at the sight of them getting along as you tidied the table, and placing the takeout orders of food that Jaemin bought for dinner.
"Please enjoy the food. I have to leave. I'll see you again soon sir. Y/N, I'll pick you up tomorrow." Jaemin bid goodbye and left the apartment. You turned to your father who had a questioning look on his face. He sat down on the chair and waved at you to join him.
"Is he your boyfriend?" He asked and you laughed, shaking your head in response. Your father knew Jaemin and his social status as the heir to the largest string of hotels in Asia. He had high respects for the younger boy, for he saw the generosity, kindness and humbleness that Na Jaemin possessed. Your father had an adoration for Jaemin, saying how he would've liked to have a son like him. Which was the reason why he loved to tease you with him.
"Does Lee Jeno still make your heart flutter?" He asked out of the blue and your lips formed a straight line. Unable to find the proper words to answer him, you opted to simply shut your mouth. Knowing the answer well, your father nodded and decided to just eat and let you rest.
You sat on your bed, your mind wandering off to Lee Jeno. He was divine, holy. Possessing such celestial glow that only he could sport well. Jeno was your heaven and your hell. He brought you into nirvana, where you could lose all your problems, and forget about everything that bothered you. Jeno gives you that illusion of being in utopia, as if everything was perfect and set in the right tracks. However, Jeno was hell at the same time. He dragged you down into this never-ending pit of flames that scorched your skin slowly, but surely. With every kiss you shared, and every breathy moan that escaped your lips, you knew well enough you have sinned, and there was no way you could be forgiven. For it was the devil who you sold your heart to.
Sighing, you stood up once more to pick up the bags that were on your bedroom floor. Unboxing the clothes from the bags, you settled them on the bed and scanned all the different outfits that Jaemin bought for you. There was plenty of options to choose from, he liked the idea of spoiling you, in which ended up with your wardrobe full from the numerous designer brand outfits that Jaemin purchased specially for you.
You adjusted the skirt on your waist and lifted your head to look at the mirror. You were wearing a simple semi-see-through long sleeved polo tucked into a black skirt, paired with a pair of black boots and a black ribbon hung loosely on your neck. Jaemin really wanted you to wear this outfit for the party tomorrow so you tried it on to see how it would fit, and it suited you in a chic way. Smiling at your reflection, you turned around to undress and hung the outfit on your rack to prepare for tomorrow's party.
"Hey Princess, get some sleep. I'll pick you up at 4 tomorrow. Goodnight."
"Baby, I can't pick you up since I have somewhere to go before the party, but I'll see you there? Night."
Your phone buzzed from your table, you grabbed it and checked the notifications. It was a message from Jaemin, and there was one from Jeno too. A coincidence, you thought. Typing in your replies, you settle the phone back on the table and slipped into your covers, falling asleep almost instantly.
___
Slipping your black boots on, you stood up and stared at yourself in the mirror. A smile crept up your lips as you twirled around, you looked livelier in the outfit Jaemin picked. A few minutes later, a knock was heard at the door and you walked out the room to answer the door.
As soon as you swung the door open, Jaemin's beautiful smile greeted you. He was wearing a gray t-shirt, black ripped jeans and he had a black denim jacket over it. It looked like a simple outfit, yet the cost was not as cheap as it looked, for Jaemin's clothes were all from top tier designers.
"You look spectacular princess. It hurts my heart." He teases and kisses your cheek, grabbing your hand and pulling you out into the hallway. Intertwining your fingers, both of you walk down the stairs of the building and head to his car.
"Do you like the outfit that I picked out for you princess?" He asked as soon as he pulled out of the basement's parking lot. Jaemin's eyes fixated on the road as maneuvers the car into the main road. He grabbed your hand and places it on the gear, covering it with his larger ones.
"It's really pretty." You answered and a proud smile was prominent on his lips. The car ride was comfortable and quiet, aside from the small talks between you and Jaemin. Most of the time you were just staring out into the horizon as his Lexus LC500 zips around Seoul, the tall buildings and other vehicles passing by in a blur.
Soon enough, Jaemin pulled up in front of a large gateway, it was painted black and there was an obvious carving of the word "Lee" on the metal gate. A man came up to Jaemin's window as he rolled it down. "Na Jaemin." Was all Jaemin said and the man nodded, giving a signal and the gates opened, allowing entrance for Jaemin's car to enter. So, this was Mark Lee's house?
"I thought Mark lived in an apartment?" You asked as Jaemin found a parking space, slowly backing into the empty spot. There were a heck ton of cars around. Afterall, half the school was invited. This was somewhat a farewell party to send Mark off since he would be leaving the country to supervise their company in Canada for a few months.
"Well yes, but specially for this farewell party, his parents allowed him to use their house as the hosting venue. But his parents are not home. They went for a meeting in America, leaving the house all to Mark's care while they're gone." Jaemin explains, and finally turns off the engine. Unclicking the seatbelts, Jaemin exits the car and jogs over to your door, opening it and extending his hand out to you.
Jaemin was a gentleman, he was respectable and an angel. Whenever you were with him, it was as if a cloud was coating you, for he was too soft and fuzzy. He always made you feel comfortable and you never had to hide your true identity from Jaemin, for he accepted all of you without judgement. He made you feel like you were worth the world, he treated you like you were someone special, and not just some low tier student that got a scholarship from the father of you were hooking up with.
Once again, he grabs your hand and laced your fingers together, and walking into Mark's colossal home. From the parking lot, there was a concrete path that led you into a spacious garden filled with different types of flowers and plants. In the middle of the garden, there was a water fountain and a little swing. Following the path, it led you into the mansion's patio. It was decorated with a bar and some islands that scattered all over the place. There was also a grill that served some barbecued menus with a few matching waiters and waitresses ready to serve the partygoers. Up ahead, there was a sliding glass door that served as an entrance to the house itself. You were pretty sure that the loud music came from the house, it blared through the speakers all over the mansion as everyone swung their bodies from side to side, having the time of their lives.
"Hey Jaemin. I see you brought Y/N with you." It was Donghyuck, it sounded as if he was not too pleased with seeing you here. He had his fingers intertwined with a smaller girl with beach waves and soft caramel skin. Was she the best friend and girlfriend of Donghyuck that Jaemin talked about? She was really pretty, and she had a matching friendly smile that complimented her innocent beauty.
"Yeah, I thought it was unfair if I was the only one that showed up without a date. So, I brought her here." Jaemin answered, patting the elder's back and continuing with their conversation. Your eyes wandered around Mark Lee's house, aweing the intricate designs that adorned the surroundings.
"It's beautiful right?" Donghyuck's girlfriend speaks up as she pointed to a cabinet made entirely with glass. Your eyes sparkled as it scanned the contents of the furniture. There were pictures, medals and certificates well organized and displayed.
"Those are Mark's achievements. There are numerous pictures of him and the Dreamies displayed on that cabinet. It's really adorable." She said and you smiled at her. Mark Lee was very smart; he was often used as an example of a model student in the school. During their graduation, Mark left the stage with countless amounts of medals that hung on his neck. That was what made their group even more special, aside from their wealth, good physiques and charming looks, the Dreamies were blessed with knowledge above normal. Neither of them dropped from the top 30 in the rankings of the school.
"Their friendship is incredible indeed." You answered and she nods, a pretty smile ghosting over her lips. You felt a tug on your arm and you tilt your head up slightly to look at Jaemin, he was smiling at you and adoring your features.
"Would you like anything princess?" He asked and you nodded. He then left you to fetch a bottle of beer and some red wine for you. You were not a big fan of alcohol, the smell of it irked you, it made your head hurt and you could never handle it bitter and nasty smell. A few minutes later, Jaemin comes back with 2 bottles of Sapporo's space barley and Silver Oak Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. Settling the bottles on the bar table, he then pulls out 2 beer glasses and 2 wine glasses. He passes a bottle of Sapporo to Donghyuck and pops the wine open, pouring you and Hyuck's girlfriend a glass each.
The 4 of you conversed with random topics, enjoying yourselves and keeping each other busy, trying to pass the time. It was your first time to attend such a high-class party with your own schoolmates, so you didn't really know how to keep yourself busy. Luckily for you, Jaemin, Donghyuck and his girlfriend was around to keep you company. A few more minutes pass by and you noticed a figure from afar.
Lee Jeno. He was wearing a striped polo and a pair of ripped jeans. Beside him, Seo Yun had her arms wrapped on Jeno's, she was wearing a red dress that complimented her snow-white skin. Han Seo Yun was bewitching. She had long black hair that reached around 5 inches below her shoulder, skin that was as white as snow, lips as red as cherries and a perfect facial structure. She could oppose Aphrodite's title as the Greek goddess of beauty, for Seo Yun's features were unlike any other. She was an amazing match for Jeno, she was someone that you could never stand against, for Seo Yun was nigh on perfect.
Jeno and Seo Yun were well known figures in the real estate industries. Their families hold huge titles from their company, and thus making them one of the most powerful couple in school. Aside from Seo Yun's family owning a small real estate company, her mother was one of the most influential lawyers in the country. Which made her a rival of Park Jisung's little crush.
"He makes your heart go crazy huh?" Donghyuck's girlfriend says softly, a soft smile on her delicate features. You laugh and nodded your head slightly, unable to find any excuse of why you were staring intently and Lee Jeno and the girl that clung onto his arm.
"Yeah, he does in a way that it causes an excruciating pain in my chest." You admitted and she reaches out to place her hand on yours, giving it a gentles squeeze. You knew about Donghyuck's girlfriend. She was the heiress of the largest medicinal company in the country. Lee Donghyuck's family following behind. Their relationship was inspiring and risky, yet you loved the thought of how they were willing to throw everything just for it to work out. You admired the strength that they possessed, you wished you had something similar. The courage to be able to tell Jeno how you truly looked at him, how you truly felt about him. Maybe, just maybe it could work out between the both of you.
"Have you ever considered telling him how you feel? I know both of you are best friends, so what scares you?" She asked, pulling out the question you dreaded the most; what scared you? Maybe the fact that you were already expecting his rejection. Or it could be that you knew deep inside that those feelings could never be reciprocated, for you would never be enough for someone like Lee Jeno. You belonged in cramped kitchens, scrubbing the grease off the dishes and old worn out clothes. Meanwhile, Jeno belonged in mansions, fancy business parties and tuxedos. You were from opposite worlds, and you could never be together, it was impossible.
"It's useless, he belongs with Seo Yun. They're a better match, and I could never be selfish to take him away." You answered, a bitter smile on your lips. She rubbed soothing circles on your hand and simply squeezed them softly, feeling pity for you.
Both of you took another glance at the couple who was now kissing and pulling each other closer by another bar table. Your heart clenched at the sight of them, however, you had no choice but to smile the pain away. For you and Jeno could never be together.
La Douleur Exquise.
It is the exquisite pain of wanting someone that you know you can never have. You knew very well Lee Jeno could never be yours, yet you still have this strong desire of wanting him in your arms. To have him in your embrace, and make him feel protected. To lace his lips with your kisses whenever he needed it. You didn't bother about that throbbing pain in your chest whenever you whispered "I love you" to him and he nods in return. You always ignored the shattering of your heart whenever he'd tell you, "Baby, don't hurt yourself by loving me. It's not worth it." For loving Lee Jeno was painful yet you loved that pain that came along with him.
You felt warm hands cover your eyes and slowly guide your face away from the scene. Na Jaemin, you knew it was him. Retracting his hands, he smiles at you and places a chaste kiss on your lips, letting it linger for a second before pulling away. Kissing Na Jaemin was soft, fluffy and welcoming. It was not rough and breathtaking like Jeno, it didn't leave you breathless and begging for more. It didn't feel like Lee Jeno's and that alone made you disappointed. For only Lee Jeno could have that effect in your life, only he could send you high and could bring thrill into your damned soul. Nothing else, and no one could ever change that.
"I'll be right back princess. Wait for me?" He said and stood up to leave, your eyes trailed to where he was heading towards, Lee Jeno. You suddenly felt hot, not intimately, but the kind of hot that made you anxious and scared of another possible argument between the two friends. You stood up but before you could leave, Donghyuck's hand grips on your wrist and pulls you back, "Look sweetheart, I suggest you stay. You don’t want to hear whatever they have to talk about." He says, slightly loosening his hold on you.
"I do, and I need to be there in case another argument erupts." You answered, pulling your hand back and quickly following after the two boys. They were walking off to a more isolated place where there was no one around and you quietly crept up behind them, making sure not to make even a single whimper.
"You ask to see her in this party, but why are you here shoving your tongue down Seo Yun's throat? How heartless can you be?" Jaemin's voice snapped, changing his tone into a more intimidating tone. Jeno stuffed his hands in his pocket and leaned back slightly, clearly too lazy to answer his friend.
"Honestly Jaemin, why do you care? She's just a third-tier student, while you're a part of the highest-tier, so why are you stooping down to such levels just because of Y/N?" The words that left Jeno's mouth stabbed you like a cold knife. Thrusting it in and out over and over again. He was right, you were a measly third-tier student, so why were you foolish enough to think that they could ever accept you as an equal?
You heard a low grunt escape Jeno's lips when his mouth came in contact with Jaemin's fist. "Well Jeno, because unlike you, I actually love Y/N. I don't treat her like some toy in order to boost my ego and to tell me that I am worthy. I don't use Y/N the way you do, for I actually treat her as a princess. Something you would never understand." You heard Jeno chuckle at the remarks and stare intently at Jaemin.
"Why bother liking some trash? She has nothing to offer you Jaemin, not even her innocence. She's just some form of pleasure that you could get rid of easily. So why bother picking up the trash that I scatter around?" Jeno answered smugly, his finger grazing the bruise that showed up from the punch.
"I don't care about whatever you took from her Jeno. I accept her for whatever she is and that will never change. So please, stop using her. She's had enough, if you can't appreciate whatever she has, then tell her and leave her alone. I'll be the one to pick up her broken pieces." Jaemin said, and that made Jeno throw his head back in annoyance.
"Never imagined that the nation's ideal boyfriend would fall in love with someone who scrubs grease off plates at my father's company. She's pathetic, and you associating yourself with her, makes you pathetic too." That was the last strand, your tears flowed from your cheeks in hot droplets. You never knew how Jeno looked down on you, for he made it seem like he treated you in a way that made you think that you were of sentimental value to him. But, in the end, you ended up fooling yourself and causing yourself pain. You brought this upon yourself.
Hearing your soft whimpers, the two boys whipped their heads at your direction, Jeno's eyes widening in horror. Jaemin rushes over to you and crouches down to meet your eyes. "Princess, I told you to wait for me." He said and wipes your teary cheeks with his thumb. You look over his shoulders to glance at Jeno, who's expression remained unchanged.
"At least now I know that I've been lied to and used for the past year." You spat and turned your heel, walking away from the place. Jaemin hurried beside you and spun you around, his hands wrapped around your waist and your face inches away. You could feel his hot breath fanning your cheeks and your cheeks heated up from the proximity.
"Princess, I love you. That's all you need to know." He said before sealing your lips together in a passionate kiss. Your head was spinning at the scenario yet for some unknown reason, you found serenity in it. It was as if your body felt lighter and the world spun in a slower motion.
From your peripheral view, you could see Lee Jeno in the distance. His hands still stuffed in his pockets, eyebrows knitted together and a wave of rage passed his eyes. He seemed angry, pissed at the whole situation that laid out before him. But why would he feel that way? You believed that he simply looked at you as some tool, a trash that he scatters around.
___
It's been a year since Mark Lee’s party, and it’s been a year since you last spoke to Lee Jeno. He was now the heir of their real estate company. He was officially engaged to Seo Yun a few months after the graduation. You remembered that day well, it was the day you finally knew you needed to let go of Jeno and move on. That very same day was also when Jaemin asked you to be his girlfriend.
From then on, everything started falling into place. Na Jaemin took over their company, granting him the title of CEO. You graduated as the 7th rank in the whole school and with your saved-up money from the past years, you were able to secure a spot where you built a mini café. It was a small and manageable business that your father really enjoyed.
With the support of Jaemin and his friends, the business was booming and you were able to upgrade the café, and purchase a small house for your father. It was an amazing year for you, and with Jaemin as your loving and supportive boyfriend, you couldn’t have it any other way.
Your phone buzzed as you were walking, on your way to visit Jaemin at his office in one of their main hotels. You fished the phone for your bag and checked to see the notification. It was a message from Jaemin.
“Hey princess, there was an urgent meeting that I needed to attend. If you arrive sooner, simply tell the secretary to escort you to my office, I’ll get back as soon as possible.” You smiled at the message and typed in a reply, then shoving the phone back in your bag and took a turn into the nearby mall's entrance. You decided to order some coffee for Jaemin and a caramel milkshake for you.
As you were walking to your booth after placing your order, you bumped into a hard chest. Saying you’re sorry, you look up to be met with the guy that broke your heart a year ago. He didn't look so well, the glow that he once possessed somehow vanished, he no longer looked like a young deity.
"Jeno." You whispered and smiled bitterly at him. He grabs your wrist and guides you to an empty booth, taking a seat opposite from you. "I didn't think I'd meet you here." His voice sounded that of a broken man's plea. He had dark circles and bag under his eyes, and his face screamed tired.
"I just stopped by to get some coffee." You said softly. You and Jeno left off on bad terms, but you've always taught yourself never to hold grudges, therefore you've longed forgiven Lee Jeno, even though he never apologized. That day that you said yes to Jaemin, was the day you also forgave your first love.
"How are things between you and Jaemin? Is he treating you well?" He asked carefully, you noticed his fingers fumbling with one another, probably uncomfortable or anxious at the whole situation. You smiled at the thought of all Jaemin has done for you. You couldn't have asked for anything more.
"The best I've been treated so far, he makes me feel special." You said openly and you noticed the glimpse of pain and disappointment that washed over his eyes. But why? Why did those emotions pass his face? He was the one that made it clear that he didn't need anyone like you. Jeno reached out for your hand and gave it a tight squeeze.
"Baby, I missed you." He whispered and those words struck your heart, causing another ache that you tried desperately to forget since the past year. Yes, you accepted Jaemin's affection and got together with him. You loved him, and you were sure of that. However, you would never deny, Jeno entered your mind every once in a while. And whenever that happened, you shut yourself away from Jaemin, not wanting him to see you breakdown once more for the boy that ripped your heart into shred, rendering it almost impossible to fix.
"No Jeno, you don't. You simply miss the feeling of me being there for you. You miss the feeling of having someone by your side and someone that would fight for you. You miss having someone whom you could leave wet kisses and marks on. You miss the pleasure that lingers in your body when our tongues dance in harmony, but you don't miss me. You made that awfully clear when you spat those piercing words at Jaemin, telling him I was worthless and just some girl you hook up with."
With that, you stood up and grabbed your order from the take-out counter, not sparing a second to look back at the man whose eyes glistened in tears that were threatening to fall. For in all honesty, Lee Jeno did love you, and it was no lie that he missed you as each day passed by.
He would give up everything for you to listen to him. For Lee Jeno loved you, yet his own pride and ego won him over that night, he was too full of himself that he couldn't bring himself to admit that he truly loved you. It pissed him off seeing you and his best friend act all touchy and he hated the fact that he was not the one beside you. Therefore, he used Seo Yun to make you jealous, to garner your attention, but instead it was Jaemin that confronted him. His anger got the best of him, in which resulted him to spit out lies about you, and his feelings that were bottled in his chest.
That look on your face when you overheard their conversation, shattered his heart. Lee Jeno could never handle it whenever he saw you crying, and he went ballistic knowing it was him that caused those precious tears of yours. He wanted to run to you, and cradle you in his arms, but his own best friend beat him to that. That look of yours when Jaemin ran up to you, it was that look that made him realize, at that moment, he had lost you for real.
He lost his best friend, the only one that understood him, and the only one who could be there for him in his times of need. And that happened, because he was too stupid, scared and because he could not control his ego. He lost his one true love due to his stupidity, and that thought haunted him, and still continues to do so up until this day.
His eyes followed your figure that walked out of the café with such confidence and power, it made his heart hurt. You never possessed such vibe whenever you were with him, you used to be so shy and innocent, but it seemed that Jaemin really did take good care of you. You blossomed into this powerful and inspiring woman that he looked up to. So, with teary eyes and an aching heart, Jeno stood up and sighed, his eyes still trailing after you as your figure finally disappeared from his view. Stuffing his hands in his slacks, he exits the restaurant, burying the pain he felt deep inside his chest, and cracked a bitter smile.
Lee Jeno walked away from the café, trying desperately to forget about the throbbing in his chest, the feeling of a thousand knives piercing through his organ as thoughts of you replayed in his mind like that of a broken recorded tape. Your smiles, your twinkling eyes, and plump lips. He knew it'd take him years to recover from this emotion that he tried dreadfully to bury.
La Douleur Exquise; the exquisite pain of wanting someone that he knew he could never have.
La Douleur Exquise; l.jn
Word Count: 3.8K
Summary: For you so loved him deeply, but all he needed from you was to satisfy his venereal desires. Lee Jeno was the painful yet ethereal lust, while Na Jaemin was your salvation. To love Lee Jeno was to endure in agony, but what could you do when his own best friend made you feel what true love is?
Author’s Note: This is my second one shot under the “Heir / Heiress AU”. Special credits to the Kdrama “The Inheritors” where I got the business school idea from and also credits to the owner of the photo used as the cover. I hope you guys check out Lee Donghyuck’s Illicit Desire, the first book of this series. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
His fingers burned your skin as it roamed all over your body. Jeno has always been the needy type. The way he pulls you closer to his body, his hand gripping firmly on your waist while the other tugs on your hair, you decide that he needed you. He needed you to be there when he was scared. He needed you to be there and kiss his lips, whispering soothing words and telling him he is not weak. He needed you to tangle your arms around his neck and make him feel like he is worth everything. In summarization, he needed you to be there whenever he pleases, for you were simply his best friend, and it was your duty to satisfy his needs, for you, fell in love with Lee Jeno.
"Jeno." You whispered as Jeno buried his head on your neck, inhaling deeply. He hums in response and proceeds to trail kisses down your neck. You shivered at his antics and tried desperately to avoid falling deeper for this devil in front of you. Lee Jeno was the majestic yet dangerous creature that the gods sent to wreck your life. He was gorgeous, a holy embodiment of a deity, but cursed with the heart of Zeus; wretched and damaged. He didn't care who he'd hurt, or what his actions could case, as long as he felt good about himself. As long as he knew, you'd still be there for him in the end, he didn't care how much he'd hurt you. For you so loved Lee Jeno, that despite the pain he brings into your life you'd still welcome him back with open arms.
"We need to go. I still have classes." You said and Jeno sighed. "Can't you skip classes baby?" He asks and nibbles on your skin. "Unlike you, I need to study hard to succeed. I don't get what I want on silver platters." You say and pried Jeno's hands off your body. You were a third-tier student in the school, which meant you were simply given a scholarship by your father's company president, which happens to be Lee Jeno's father.
Lee Jeno's family owned one of the biggest real estate agencies in Korea. Just like his group of friends, he was also an heir to the company's position of CEO. Jeno's older sister was supposed to be the heiress to the position, but she left the country to pursue her own career, thus pushing the title towards Jeno. He seemed unbothered by the decision, but deep inside, he hates his sister for being selfish. For she never asked Jeno if he would be alright with the responsibilities, she simply fled away one day, and only spoke to their father about the decision. Therefore, Jeno had no choice, but to comply.
Meanwhile you, were nothing like Lee Jeno. Your father worked for Jeno's company, he serves food and washed the dishes in the kitchen and cafeteria. Which was the sole reason you ever got the chance to study in such a prestigious school like this. Mr. Lee, Jeno's father, was a generous and kind man, he was thankful for your father's hard work for the company, and decided to award him, by giving you a full scholarship. Thus, you've always been guilty for going behind his back and having a relationship with his son. But then again, would you really call it a relationship? No, it was more like an affair, for Jeno was already set off to be engaged with his girlfriend. She was an heir to a smaller real estate company, and according to Jeno, she could be the key to expanding their business further.
Now, these were a few points you disliked about the whole business school thing. People use others, like their partners, or even other family members, in order to expand their business, and gain more money. It was and always will be about the money. Having emotions, or an attraction to others, could either be a benefit for the company, or a threat to it. And this, was the reason as to why you and Jeno could never be. For you were a threat to the company.
Jeno cupped your face in his large hands and placed a soft kiss on your lips. It was unlike his normal kisses; rough and full of lust. This one felt genuine, loving as if everything was set on the right track. You blinked your hopeless thoughts away and pulled away from Jeno. You and Jeno could never. You were not meant for each other. He belonged with his friends, his girlfriend and his family reputation. You belonged with your father, ragged clothes and in a maid sized apartment. You were polar opposites, and Jeno would never settle for someone so imperfect and messed up. He would never settle for you.
"I got to go Jeno." You said and picked up your bag from the floor. Zipping up your turtle neck jacket, you tried desperately to cover up the new marks Jeno left on your skin. No one knows about your little sessions with Jeno except for his friends maybe. And as friends of Jeno, they've always kept it from others, especially from Seo Yun, Jeno's girlfriend. You heard Jeno sigh but you didn't want to deal with Professor Jung's lecture about time management, so you left him in there and ran to class.
Luckily, you arrived a few minutes before the professor arrived. Taking your seat beside Na Jaemin, one of Jeno's friend, he gives you a soft smile and continues scrolling through his phone. You adjusted your jacket and placed your head on the table, trying to get at least a minute of rest. "Did Jeno call you to meet up early morning again?" You heard Jaemin's deep voice and peeked your eyes to look at him. "What?" You asked and Jaemin placed his phone in his bag and crossed his arms over his chest, a smirk crept up his beautiful lips
Na Jaemin, just like his friends were agonizingly beautiful. They walk in the campus and everyone has their heads turned, staring in awe as their holy presence graced each and every one in the school. Girls squealed and dreamt for them to graze their fingers against their skins, while boys hoped to be as good looking and talented as the Dreamies. All of them were pulchritudinous, as if torn off from pages of fantasy novels. Especially Na Jaemin, out of their group, he received the most attention from girls due to his soft smile that serve as a panacea, deep voice and well-built figure. Aside this, Jaemin was a sweetheart, he loved to be touchy and clingy towards his friends and he was always seen messing around with Lee Jeno. Maybe that's the reason why you and Jaemin were also good friends. Jaemin knew about your social status and your tier in the school, but he's never judged you about it.
"The tier thing in school is useless, I don't see the point in making a big deal about it. I believe everyone can be successful despite their social status. Therefore, Y/N, study hard and prove my belief." As said by Na Jaemin when he saw you washing dishes with your father in the kitchen of Jeno's company. He offered to help despite your persuasion that you could handle it. Since then, the both of you have been good friends.
"Look princess, we both know Lee Jeno has you all wrapped around his finger. So, what time did he bother you again?" He asked, and you groaned. "4 am." You answered and rubbed your eyes. You weren't able to sleep well last night due to the number of reviewers you had to go through in order to catch up with the lessons in class, and Jeno calling to meet up with you at 4 am, surely didn't help. Jaemin frowned at your answer and rubbed your back soothingly. He's always been an angel. Unlike Lee Jeno, Jaemin could never hurt you. As much as you think you might be delusional, it's true, Na Jaemin didn't have the heart to hurt anyone. Sometimes, you even wished that it was him. That you fell for Na Jaemin instead. But no, you fancied the idea of being friends with Lee Jeno, of having him call you anytime he wanted to make himself feel less vulnerable. You liked the idea of getting hurt for Lee Jeno, consider yourself a masochist, but it was true. There was no denying that you've already kissed the devil's lips.
"As much as I'd love to indulge in the comfort of you rubbing my back. Please have mercy on me, I would not like to get involved in dramas with your admirers." You said and Jaemin laughed. His hand left your back, and only then were you able to breathe normally. Jaemin's group of admirers were crazy. If you got caught being friendly with them, or even talking with them, expect rumors and hate to slap your face the next day. Honestly, not only does this apply to Na Jaemin, but the whole group. They were well-known and if given the title, would probably be considered the rulers of the school. The Dreamies indeed were majestic. They possessed such charms that were out of this world. It's like they were designed by Van Gogh, and brought to life. Despite the name, they were not as dreamy as they seem to be. For loving them is a nightmare. And you'd willingly drown in that nightmare, just to feel Jeno's skin graze roughly against yours.
___
"You seem really tired." Park Jisung. He was the youngest out of the group. Jisung was remarkably talented. He was an amazing dancer, the best out of the best for his age. You've always enjoyed watching their dance performances during events hosted by the school. The way they moved in sync with the music and each other, how their bodies seem to fly beautifully across the stage, watching the Dreamies perform was always worth it. But if you were to be honest with yourself, it was mostly Lee Jeno that caught your attention. How his toned body seemed much visible because of the plain white shirt sticking to his body caused by his excessive sweating. The way he breathed heavily after every performance, it lured you to falling deeper than the depths of Tartarus.
"Thanks for pointing it out. I never noticed." You deadpanned and Jisung scrunches his nose in the most adorable way possible. "Why are you here anyways?" You asked as you popped a piece of sliced apple into your mouth. Your classes were done for the day and you decided to sit by the bench in front of the school's football field. "Jaemin, Renjun and Donghyuck are still in class and Chenle left early today for he had to work on some matters with his mother." Jisung says and he steals a sliced apple from your lunchbox and popping it into his mouth.
As expected, Na Jaemin, Huang Renjun and Lee Donghyuck were obviously still in class. Unlike the other members of their group, the three of them were high achievers. Other students would simply have 10-13 classes, but the 3 of them decided to add 2 or 3 extra classes into their schedule just for the purpose of getting more credits. "How about Jeno?" You asked. Jisung shrugged and pointed over towards the school's parking lot.
Your eyes landed on Jeno's Selenite Gray Mercedes Benz SLC Roadster. He was leaning on the hood of the car where Han Seo Yun was sitting on. From afar, you can clearly see Jeno's hands roam all over her body, desperately trying to pull her as close as possible. You bit your lip to avoid showing any signs of emotions, especially with Jisung beside you. Although Park Jisung knew about your little secret with his best friend, you didn't want to talk to him about it. Jisung was too innocent, and dragging him further into the problem would just cause burden for him. So, the best thing to do was to act as if you didn't care. "I'm sorry that you have to deal with Jeno." He says and pats your back reassuringly. All of the Dreamies seemed to be so sweet and kind, except for Lee Jeno. You smiled bitterly at Jisung and simply stood up.
As soon as you were about to leave, you bumped into a stiff figure. You tilted your head up slightly to meet face to face with Na Jaemin and his perfect smile. "Easy their princess. Where are you off to in such a rush?" He asked and you glanced swiftly at the couple by the Mercedes Benz. Jaemin's eyes trailed after yours and pursed his lips. Grabbing your hand, he drags you out of the field and towards the parking lot. You tried desperately to pull your hand back, and run away for you had no idea what Jaemin was planning. He could expose you and Jeno and that would be the end of everything.
"Hey, tell the others that I won't be able to hangout. I'll be with Y/N." Jaemin says as Jeno and Seo Yun turn their heads to face both of you. Jaemin's hands was gripping on your wrist and you swear, if looks could burn, your wrist would be ashes by now. "What?" Jeno asks, clearly confused with the whole situation. He stared at Jaemin with such power, you felt the tension in the air. But why? What's causing such suffocating aura in the air?
"Or rather, just cancel the plans for today. Donghyuck will be with his girlfriend today. Chenle left early. Renjun might not be out until 9 pm tonight, and Jisung might visit Mark at his apartment to run over a few errands. I can't be the one to third-wheel with you and Seo Yun now can I? So, I'll be with Y/N.  We can reschedule next week." He says and Jeno simply kept his mouth shut. It was palpable that Jeno was completely appalled by the scenario in front of him. You were his. He makes it clear every time he sunk his teeth into your soft skin, by was another man holding your hand? And that man so happened to be his very best friend.
"Shall we go princess?" Jaemin's voice soothed your mind as his hand comes up to rest on the small of your back. You nodded and Jaemin intertwined his fingers with yours, slowly tugging you to walk with him. Before you could take more than 2 steps, Jeno grabs your hand and grips on it firmly. You stared at Jeno, unable to properly comprehend your emotions as his hand burns your flesh. There was a quick change in his emotions, something that passed his eyes for a swift moment, before disappearing once more. Was it pain? Disappointment? Guilt?
Before he could say anything, you pulled your hand away and followed behind Jaemin. You didn't know and you would never know the emotions that took over Jeno after that, for you decided not to look back. You decided to show him, that he couldn't control you as much as he pleased. To show him, that you didn't love him as much as he thought you did. But of course, that was all just an act, a semblance. For you loved Lee Jeno too much to turn your back on him, except for this day.
___
"Are you alright princess?" Jaemin asked and you nodded. Strapping the seatbelt over your body, Jaemin puts the car on reverse, and drives his Nightfall Mica Lexus LC500 out of the school's drive way. He leans over slightly to grab your hand and place it on the gear, his hand covering yours. Na Jaemin has always been touchy and clingy, so you relaxed into the warmth that emitted from his hand and stared out the window, buildings passing by in a blur.
You sighed and the scenario with Jeno, Jaemin and Seo Yun replayed in your mind. Jaemin's hold on your hand was gentle, and comforting. Meanwhile, Jeno's grip on your wrist was rough and you could feel the anger radiate off his skin. As if his blood boiled at the sight of Jaemin's hands intertwined with yours. But why would he be mad? Aside the hungry kisses and violet marks that decorated your shoulders and neck, there was no ties between you and Jeno. You were his friend, the one that he calls over to make out with, in order for his vexation to subside. Your little relationship is known as a mere "Friends with Benefits".
Na Jaemin's finger rubbed soothing circles over your hand as he held it up to his face and kissed it softly. Jaemin was beautiful, comforting and he had this feeling of home. You wished it was him you fell in love with, not Lee Jeno. For Jaemin would make you feel what true love was, Jaemin could teach you how fascinating it is to love, and to be loved. You've always felt right when you were with Jaemin, he made you feel accepted, valued and he made you feel that despite your imperfections, you were worth loving. However, you don't want that feeling of satisfaction, you want thrill, pain and risks. In which, only Lee Jeno could make you feel that way. You'd gladly burn in flames with Jeno, for you loved the affliction that Lee Jeno brought into your life. You would suffer for Lee Jeno, for he was worth it.
"Why did you do that?" You asked and Jaemin hummed innocently. He continued grazing your hand softly and you leaned comfortably on his leather seat. "Not only will Jeno get mad at me, but there's a chance he might argue with you." You said and Jaemin nodded as he pulled into the parking lot of Heio's. "I needed to show Jeno that you weren't his, and he had no right to call you his. Nor does he have rights to call you at 4 am to satisfy his sexual desires. You're not a tool princess." He was right, but what could you do? You've already fallen for Lee Jeno and his agonizing love.
You got out the car and Jaemin intertwined his fingers with yours. Not giving it any thought, you walked with Jaemin into the café, your hands swinging in harmony. Picking the booth beside the window, you left Jaemin to place your orders as you pulled out a notebook and pen. Skimming through the notes, you listed a few extra points to remember for your upcoming tests.
"Actually, it goes this way." Jaemin's voice rung in your ears as he places the tray with food on the table. There was a large sized caramel milkshake and a medium iced latte macchiato. Jaemin and his addiction to coffee, you smiled at the thought of it. Beverage aside, Jaemin made sure to order your favorite strawberry cake and some cinnamon rolls. As soon as he took his seat, he leaned over to explain to you a few mistakes in the topics. Jaemin was actually really smart.
In their group, Lee Donghyuck was the smartest one. He was the highest scoring student of the whole school in the previous year. It was no shock as to why he held that position, despite Donghyuck's stentorian and frolicsome persona, he was an achiever. You would often see him in the library with Huang Renjun and Na Jaemin, or in Heio's with a pile of books in front of him. In fact, all of the Dreamies were exceptionally gifted, but it was the three of them that stood out most in terms of academics.
A smile crept up Na Jaemin's lips as he placed his pen back into his pouch, and closing his notebook. Your head weighed down on Jaemin's shoulder as he moved around slowly, trying his best to avoid waking you up. After decluttering the table, Jaemin tucked a strand of hair off behind your ear.
Your milky skin tone, puffed and blushed cheeks, your pouted pink lips that he wishes to brush his lips against, and your long black hair that he wished to tangle his fingers in. You were a goddess sent from above, Jaemin couldn't help but stare in awe. The way you walk as if you were confident and independent, but deep inside, your calloused fingers and bruised neck and shoulders from Lee Jeno's bite marks, breaks his heart. Na Jaemin hated the way Jeno treated you, as if you were some toy that he could mess with whenever he pleased, and throw away when he was bored, he despised it. Jeno was his best friend, but you were his first love, and as much as it hurts, Jaemin could never do anything to break you away from him, for he knew how much you were infatuated with Lee Jeno.
"Princess, I'll drive you home." He whispers and you stirred, your eyes slowly fluttering open. Jaemin's heart swelled at the view, you were gorgeous, too fragile for this wretched and damned world. He hated seeing you cover up in your hoodies and jackets due to those bruises left by his best friend. Besides that, he knew how broken Jeno was, but it was no excuse to use two people at once. He hooks up with you to feel better about himself, while he uses Seo Yun for business purposes and maintaining his name and reputation. He never truly understood the point of it, but who was he to judge?
As soon as Jaemin pulled up in the basement of your apartment, he runs over to your side and picks up your bag. He wraps a protective arm behind your waist and escorts you into your apartment. You were too tired to be able to walk properly to Jaemin, the gentleman that he was, insisted on accompanying you until you were inside your home safely. Knocking on the door, your dad opened the door and welcomed Jaemin with a wide smile. He bowed slightly and brought you over to the couch, setting your bag down and allowing you to sit comfortably.
"I have to head home princess. Good night and please, have plenty of rest." He says and kisses the top of your head. Turning to your father, he bows once more and gives him a big plastic with food in it, "Sir, please accept this. It's my little treat for you and Y/N, I hope you enjoy the food." He says and your father pats his shoulder, giving him a thanks before he walked out the cramped apartment.
"Father, feel free to finish that. I already ate with Jaemin. Enjoy it. I'll take a rest now." You said and kissed his cheek, picking up your bag and walking into your room. Grabbing your cracked phone from your bag, a message popped up on the screen. It was from Jeno.
"Do you honestly think I'll allow you and Jaemin to get closer with each other? Baby, you're mine. And Jaemin won't be able to do anything about it. If I were you, I would not let some false fantasies of a happily ever after with Jaemin distract you. It will never happen."
Illicit Desire 3; l.dh
Word Count: 9.4K
Summary: A secret friendship between the heirs of rival companies. But behind the label of friendship, feelings of affection lingered. Donghyuck who would give up everything to be with you, goes out of his way to show you how he feels. It’s a risky decision, but he’d do anything to make you his. Despite being an illicit desire.
Author’s Note: This was all based of my imaginations. Plot was reccomended to me by a friend. Credits to the KDrama The Inheritors, this is where I got a small bit of the Business School idea from. As mentioned, these were mere products of my imaginations, and does not define the idols mentioned. I’ve already posted the first 2 parts, check them out before this. Enjoy!
Tumblr media
You could feel his stares from afar. Like he was observing something that he never knew existed. As if you were something magical that just allures him and his curiosity. He gaped at how such ethereal beauty existed. He questioned at how he, out of everyone, was so attracted to such masterpiece. He never saw himself becoming so addicted to you.
It's been weeks, almost a month, since Donghyuck's confession. Since then, neither of you had the guts to initiate a conversation with each other. After that kiss, Donghyuck decided to take you home. He didn't even anticipate for what you had to say, he just took you home, the ride, a deafening silence. You thanked him for the day and said goodnight before he drove off in the bright night.
"Why does it seem as if you're avoiding her?" Jaemin asks as the group continues to walk out of the school campus. Jeno snakes his arm around Donghyuck's shoulders as they walked towards their cars.
"I confessed." He mumbled and the group started interrogating him.
"When?" Jisung asked. Donghyuck placed his bag in the back seat of his car and turns around to face the group once more. "That day I said I needed to head home and couldn't hang out with you guys. Instead, I ran to the cafeteria, and I found her. I took her out for some food, played Just Dance in the arcade, had dinner and while heading back to my car, I told her how I felt."
Renjun dropped the lollipop he was eating and grabbed Donghyuck's collar, pulling the taller boy down to his eye level and asking, "What did she say?" Donghyuck stared at the older boy in confusion and horror, "I was not able to await her answer. I got too embarrassed and just decided to take her home."
The boy loosened his grip on Donghyuck's collar and took a deep breath. "Hold on. Don't tell me you guys kissed?" Chenle spoke up and Donghyuck's face turned into a bright hue of pink. The group stared at him in shock, knowing what the answer was by his reaction.
"You confessed to her, and shared a kiss. But you didn't wait for her reply to your confession?" Jeno confirms and Donghyuck nods. He then smacks his forehead and whispered, "You're hopeless."
After the little interrogation, the group dispersed and decided to head home. It was finals week and everyone needed to focus. Especially Donghyuck, he couldn't drop from his spot as the highest scoring student. His parents would blow a fuse and he couldn't bear to sit in and listen to another lecture.
You walked out of the school hallway and stood by the waiting area for your chauffeur to pick you up. Flipping the pages of your Entrepreneurial Venture and Office Simulation book, you patiently waited for the driver. Donghyuck saw you. He was staring, intently. It's that type of look of longing that makes him want to beg on his knees, pleasing for you to give him attention. Just even the slightest one.
Donghyuck would gladly get on his knees for you. He would willingly embarrass himself, just for you. He'd be eager to accept anything from you, even if you couldn't reciprocate his feelings, he'd be pleased just to hold your hands once more. That was how much he loved you. But you would never know that.
Or so he thought.
As soon as the chauffeur pulled up, you immediately got into the car and headed home. You needed to study harder this time. Sure, you had pretty good scores, but good was never enough. Not in your family. "Could we stop over at Heio's? I'd like to take out some food." You told the driver and he simply nodded.
You got out the car and headed into the small café and ordered your usual Cookie Dough milkshake and a box of 6 macaroons. Suddenly, Donghyuck popped into your mind. You remembered the day he took you out and got you to taste their macaroons. Unconsciously, a soft smile crept onto your lips.
"Could I be the reason of your smile, darling?" His voice. You moved your head slightly to have Donghyuck's face inches away from yours. He looked heavenly. He looks like an actual young god. Or he could even be mightier than one. He's eminently captivating, possessing a surreal radiance, it's almost illusory.
Lee Donghyuck was divine. The kind that everyone longs for. The one that you yearn to be with. He was truly ethereal, and you savored the idea of being with him. To entangle your fingers in his hair, intertwine your fingers with his, and to have him by your side. You wanted Donghyuck, badly. But he'll never know.
"Donghyuck, why are you here?" You asked, stepping back to create a distance between the both of you. He placed his hands in his pockets and shrugged, "I thought some Heio's macaroons would help me in studying. Little did I know you'd be here darling."
You looked so irresistible, Donghyuck thought. He loved how you looked in your school uniform. It made you look studious. He wished to put his arms over your shoulders whenever he'd like. He fancied the idea of showing you off and allowing you come along on the little trips with his friends. He desired you, yet, he was too afraid that you didn't feel the same.
"I'll pay for her orders, along with mine." Donghyuck tells the cashier. Afterwards, the both of you walk over to the claiming area.
You were shocked when he suddenly pulled you towards him, his head snuggled on your head. Your face making contact with his chest. "Darling, I've missed the feeling of you." He whispers. Your heart once again started racing. Your whole system felt hot, as if igniting on fire. Anytime, exploding out of excitement.
"Donghyuck." You cooed and he pulled you even closer. You could feel all the emotions radiating off his body. Neediness, pain, love and regret? You were unsure of the last emotion, but that was what it seemed to be.
"I hate being away from you. I hate staring at you from afar. I hate looking at you and thinking, that oh shit. It could've been me she's talking to. It could've been me that she's laughing with. It could've been me, who is always beside her. I hate these feelings, darling." He admits in such a shaky and hushed voice. You felt the pain in every word he uttered.
Donghyuck loved you very much. There was no denying that. Despite it as a proscribed feeling, he did. And there was nothing that could stop those desires of his. He would gladly step down from his position as an heir to their business, as long as it meant he could be with you. He didn't care about the criticism at all. As long as you both shared the same affection towards each other, he'd willingly test his luck, and gamble, just for your hand.
"I know. But we can't do anything about it Donghyuck." You said, hesitating every word. It was hard for you to admit, but you had a point. Despite all this strong affection for each other, neither of you could do anything to fulfill those desires.
"Darling, after our graduation, would you allow me to pursue you?" He asked, loosened his grip on you, and looked at you deep in your eyes. Drowning himself in those deep, mysterious and bottomless orbs, unable to comprehend your hidden emotions. You were undecipherable.
"I don't know Donghyuck." You answered carefully, trying your best not to say anything wrong. He smiles bitterly and kisses your cheek, "I'll prove my love for you, darling. Just wait." He says.
"Cookie dough milkshake, and 2 boxes of macaroons for Lee Donghyuck?" The barista calls out, and you both walk towards the counter to grab your orders.
"Thank you Donghyuck." You said and he kissed your forehead, whispering, "Study well, darling. I'll be waiting for you after graduation." He says and walks out the café, strutting towards his car.
You heaved a heavy sigh and walked out the café with your order. Finally driving off towards home. In the car, you replayed the scenario that took place in the café. Was he sincere with what he said? Did he really feel that way? Was Lee Donghyuck really in love with you? You shook the thoughts off as the car pulled up into the large grey gate of the house.
As soon as you entered the house, you were greeted by the helpers, but aside that, an empty house. You opted to start studying as soon as possible, so you ran to your room and decided to take a shower beforehand. It was always best to be fresh when studying, your mind seemed to function better that way.
After a few hours of studying, you checked your phone to realize that it was already 10:45 p.m. and you needed sleep. A notification popped up on your screen and you decided to check it out.
"Hey darling, it's late. I hope you were able to study well. Good luck on tomorrow's tests. Get some rest. Goodnight." It was Donghyuck. You've always had each other's numbers but you tend to forget that you did. Mainly because you don't contact each other often. Ignoring his message, you switched the device off and got into the comfort of your bed, and engulfing yourself with the warmth that your thick blanket provides. And finally, dozing off into a deep slumber.
___
"How do you think you did?" Hana asks with a smile. Her bright set of teeth shining blindingly. She was exceptionally beautiful. Like a deity that descended from the sky. She has this soft fire that ignites wherever she goes, burning everything in her wake. Kim Hana has a bewitching fire to her, one that could never burn out.
It's been a few weeks since your final exams and you weren't anxious at all. Just had these tingles of your knees buckling with the thought of your father possibly kicking you out of the household, if you ever had low scores. So, no, you were not nervous. You were simply neurotic.
The results for the finals were to be posted in the school hall's bulletin board. Pretty much everyone was agitated to see the results, thus causing the huge crowd hoarding towards the school hall. You usually view the results a few hours after its posted to avoid the crowd, but today, Hana was able to drag you across the campus. When it came to her, you seemingly have no choice but to assent it.
Both of you squeezed through the pile of sticky, sweaty bodies until you popped to the front. Searching for your name, unable to find it by the 6-10 list, you started to sweat nervously. Until Hana's arms shook your shoulders vigorously. "You're number 1!" She screams and hugs you tightly. Unable to grasp the situation, your eyes tried desperately to focus on the list
1.Y/N
Lee Donghyuck
Choi Yerin
Kim Jiwoo
Seo Hyo Sik
When Hana finally let’s go of you, were you only able to smile brightly and express your excitement. Sure, you admitted that you studied hard for the exam, even going through lengths of ruining your sleeping schedule, in order for your father to not be disappointed in you. But you had never expected to come close to Lee Donghyuck's level. Let alone be the reason of him coming in second.
In the midst of talking with Hana, your eyes caught a glimpse of the group. Lee Jeno had his hands in his pockets. Zhong Chenle with his infamous smile, his eyes turning into slits. Huang Renjun's blonde hair glowing from afar. Na Jaemin and his toothy grin, his arms draped lazily on Jisung's shoulder. Park Jisung stood like a tower, tall and mighty with his round glasses steady on his nose. And of course, in the middle was Lee Donghyuck, he looked like a god. Powerful, beautiful, yet dangerous. He stared at you, intently. You were confused. It didn't look like any of his usual gazes. You were unsure of how he looked at you. Was he proud that you were number 1? Or was he mad that you dethroned him? You decided that it was undecipherable. And you left it that way.
"Hey, let's grab some snacks and go shopping! I need a new set of palettes to prepare for our graduation." Hana chirps and you shook your head. Snapping out of your reverie, as the both of you walk out the hall. You stole one last glance at Lee Donghyuck and his friends, and you were certain that he smirked.
Lee Donghyuck indeed was agonizingly beautiful. If the day of judgement comes, it might be that Donghyuck was a sinner. A sinner for breaking hearts with his angelic, yet devilish looks. A façade if you say so yourself. If he were to be banished into the dark and never-ending depths of Tartarus, without doubt, you would decide to be banished with him. For Lee Donghyuck, was truly worth all that pain. You would burn in hell and be left in ashes, as long as it meant Lee Donghyuck would be the cause of that pain. Donghyuck was a blazing flame, he could burn out the world if he wanted to. He was mesmerizing, yet he brings pain and affliction. But, you as a masochist, would risk it all and burn with him. For what you felt for Lee Donghyuck was no unadorned affection, it was something far beyond what you known as love, something much stronger. And you had no way to put it into words.
"How about I treat you to some food? My little celebration of my achievement." You suggested and Hana's eyes glimmered under the bright sunlight. You laughed at her expression and the both of you walked towards her white Bentley.
"What are you craving for?" You asked as you maneuvered Hana's car out of the school's parking lot. You decided to try driving her car since your parents were far too strict into letting you drive your own Jaguar around the city. They would always have the chauffeurs drive you around and pick you up. Thus, with the purr of Hana's car, excitement pumped through your veins. It gave you chills and you loved the feeling of it.
Both of you decided on some seafoods and had an early dinner. Afterwards, Hana decided to check out some new heels for future outfits and she also ended up purchasing a heck ton of clothes. You and Hana were a contrast of each other. She loved designer clothes and high heels. Meanwhile you found comfort in plain jeans and oversized hoodies paired with your Adidas superstars. She enjoys going out to parties and business galas while you stayed home and read books. If people were unaware of your social status, you would even be mistaken as an ordinary girl. Not the daughter and heiress of a huge medical company across the country. With your antithetical characteristics, people questioned how the both of you were even friends. Not that it mattered anyways, you had always treated Hana as a sister. You'd get into mini arguments just because of your conflicting beliefs, but at the end of the day, it was always you and her that would rattle the Earth to its core.
After spending hours in the mall, you decided to head home. You contacted the chauffeur to pick you up and Hana left as soon as your car pulled up. Bidding her farewell, you got into the car and drove back home in silence. The only sounds were your soft breathing, and other cars zooming past the road. Overall, it was a comforting silence that managed to let your mind at ease.
"How were your results?" Your father asked as soon as you stepped foot inside the house. He was sitting by the couch, one leg over the other and reading a random book which was probably from his office. Your father always seemed to be emotionless, he looked at you sternly, his eyes seeming to lack any kind of glint. He was the opposite of your mom. You mom always sported out smiles and her voice, a soothing sound. They were so unlike yet they matched each other well, just like the friendship between you and Hana.
"I was the highest scoring student out of the whole school." You muttered quietly. Just enough for your father to hear it. He stood up from his seat and engulfed you in a tight hug. You smiled and returned the favor. "You did so well sweetheart, I'm so proud of you." He says and finally let’s go of you. A big smile plastered on his face.
"Thank you, father. I worked hard for it." You said and he nodded in agreement. "I know you did sweetheart. I'm really proud of you. I'll be sure to tell your siblings and mother about it as soon as they arrive home. Now, rest up. You deserve it." He says and with that you smile and walk up to your room.
Setting your school bag and paper bags from the mall on the table, you got into the shower and took a quick bath. Afterwards, you decided to open up all the things you bought and organize it around your room. You bought a few new books to add into your collection, and also some hoodies and a pair of black sneakers. Hana was skeptical about your choice of fashion, but refused to argue with you about it, knowing that you were comfortable with it.
A new notification popped in your phone and you tapped the screen lightly to read it.
"Hey darling. Congratulations on becoming number 1. I'm so proud of you. Up for lunch tomorrow?" It was a message from Donghyuck. You smiled and typed in an answer.
"Hi. Thanks! I really thought you would kill me earlier HAHAHA. Sure, I'm always up for food."
A laugh emitted from Donghyuck when he read your message. He was genuinely proud of you. Seeing you smile in the hall when Hana engulfed you and saying you were number 1, truly was a beautiful sight. It made him sigh in content.
In Donghyuck's eyes, you were exceptionally beautiful. Like an angel that fell from the sky. The way you smiled and how your eyes glittered upon realizing the situation, Donghyuck decided you were and always will be a sight to see. You were perfectly molded, shaped into a masterpiece. You were far prettier than a garden of red roses. Your voice, it was soft, soothing and mellow, it was a mellifluous sound in Donghyuck's ears, and he absolutely loved listening to it. He was unsure as to why you made him feel this way. He was never fond of the effects that you had om him. The ability to make his heart swell when you'd pout or smiled and how putty he becomes when you talk to him. Donghyuck didn't know much about love, but if it meant imaging a future with you, being able to hold your hands and crash his lips against yours, then surely that is what he felt for you. Or probably, far more intense than just love.
"AHAHAHA as much as I was disappointed at myself, I could never bring myself to hurt you darling. Take note of that." Unconsciously, you smiled at his message. You didn't know why Donghyuck had this effect on you. But then again, you never really questioned it. Because, whatever it may be, you liked it, and you liked the fact that Donghyuck is the reason behind those tingles that you feel. Sometimes, the huge rivalry between your companies tended to slip from your mind. Making you cling onto that blurred dreams of having a future with Lee Donghyuck, savoring that sweet despair that would bound to happen if you ever did get consumed by your fantasies.
"Alright then. I guess I'll see you tomorrow? Goodnight Donghyuck." You answered and placed your phone on your bedside table. You hugged the covers tighter on your body and deciding to finally doze off into a comfortable slumber.
"Goodnight darling." The boy sighs with pleasure as he sends the text message. A smile rests on his lips as he wanders to the thought of you. Your genuine smile setting his heart ablaze and boiling his blood, in a good way. It was the prettiest thing he's ever seen. The way you looked, seemed as if you held all the planets in your hands, and he wished he could've stared at you for a much longer period of time. You were Donghyuck's angel in this wicked and damned world. He wishes for you to hold his hand when times get rough. For you to ruffle his hair as he nestled his head on the part where your neck and shoulders meet. He simply wishes for you to be with him always, which is why he intends to pursue you before it was too late.
___
A smile crept up your lips as you twirled once more to appreciate your outfit for your little meet up with Lee Donghyuck. A plain oversized black tshirt, tucked into your tattered high-waist jeans and paired with your white adidas. Grabbing your black mini backpack, you placed your phone, a liptint and wallet into it, finally walking out the room. Overall, you looked like an average teenage girl, no family reputation, no huge responsibilities.
You got into the car and the chauffeur drove you off to Heio's, where Donghyuck said he would be waiting. As soon as you entered the café, you spotted Donghyuck in a booth by the window. He was wearing a grey oversized hoodie, tucked into his black ripped jeans and he sported a pair of black combat boots. He looked so beautiful.
"Hey darling." He stood up and greeted you as soon as you arrived in front of the table. He steals a kiss on your cheeks and he allows you to take your seat before he walks over to take his. There was a cookie dough milkshake on the table and a plate of macaroons. "I already ordered if that's fine with you." He says and you smiled at him. Both of you started talking about random things and laughed with each other. Completely forgetting about the people around you.
Being with Donghyuck was like gambling on lotteries and casinos. You could never predict nor be sure of the outcomes that await you, but as long as you enjoyed the moment, that was all that mattered. For being with Donghyuck was dangerous, consider yourself a pessimistic for saying that, but there was no denying it. It has always been engraved in your mind, that you and Donghyuck, an impossible mach. Neither of you were sure of the consequences that come with it, but you knew that you liked each other. And risking everything for this so-called love, would definitely be worth it, just to end up with each other.
"Are you in the mood to visit Lotte World darling? I mean you've probably been there before but-" You cut him off with a peck on his cheeks and pulled him out the café. "Stop mumbling and let's go." He smiled and placed his hand on the small of your back, guiding you towards his grey Porsche. He opened the door to your seat, and jogged over to his. Donghyuck was unequivocally, an ideal boyfriend type.
After purchasing your tickets and parking Donghyuck's car, the both of you walked into the indoor theme park. "I've actually never been to Lotte World." You admitted as your eyes wandered around the huge place, numerous attractions catching your attention. Donghyuck grabs your hand in his, and intertwines your fingers and he leads you further inside.
"Really? I've been here numerous times because of Jisung always wanting to go on the Swing Tree." He says and you tugged on his arm, "Swing Tree? Can we try it out?" You asked and Donghyuck sighs, nodding and taking to where the Swing Tree was. It was a pretty tall tree, roughly around 4 meters with some seats attached to it. It spins at about a high speed of 50km/h, and you were excited to try it.
There wasn't that much people around so you were able to try the attraction, without having to queue up for a long period of time. Taking a seat behind Donghyuck, the personnel in-charge, buckled your seatbelts, and in less than 2 minutes, you were spinning at such a high pace, it was as if you were ready to be sent flying into the sky.
After hours of roaming around the amusement park, Donghyuck decided to get some food and head to the mall for some shopping. He also needed to purchase a few things for the graduation. Whilst in the car, Donghyuck grabbed your hand and intertwined it with his. He brought it up his lips and placed a chaste kiss on the back of your hand. This action made your mind fuzzy and body hot. You were fully aware of Donghyuck's effect on you. But never once, has it crossed your mind that it could go to such high extents. To the point that you were unable to think and everything was just about him and his ravishing looks. His lips were soft on your skin, it left a heated spot on your skin, as if you were kissed by the flames of Ares' wrath. Donghyuck would be the death of you, that you were sure of.
"Darling." He calls out to you in such an angelic voice. It sounded like glass, handling it delicately. The way his little nickname for you rolled out his tongue, was mellifluous. Just like flowers and sweets, it causes a smile to creep up your lips unconsciously. You hummed as he fiddled with your fingers that were intertwined with his.
"Would you say the words I love you too if I told you that I loved you?" He asked, his gaze still focusing on the road. His question caught you off guard. You loved Donghyuck, you really did. You were simply afraid, agitated that he might hurt you. It always lingered in your mind that Donghyuck was a rival. Although you never really cared about the company feuds, and you were genuine about your feelings for Donghyuck, what if he doesn't feel the same way? What if he was simply using you? What if he acts as if he loves you, but the next day, leaves you for his family's gain? You were perturbed about those thoughts.
"Donghyuck-" Unable to finish your sentence, Donghyuck grips your hand and pulls up into one of the mall's empty parking space. "Darling, don't. Not yet. I can't bear to hear your rejection just yet. Let's just go." He says, and unbuckle his seatbelt to get out of the car. You could feel the pain and disappointment in his voice. But why? You were sure Donghyuck did not love you that hard, but why is there a presence of hurt?
You shook the thoughts out of your mind and simply decided to walk with Donghyuck into the mall. He grabbed your hand and intertwined your fingers with his once more as he dragged you into Cipele. The certain shop sells some of the most expensive and high-end brands of shoes. Knowing Donghyuck, he probably doesn't wear a simple Adidas, or Vans, he owns numerous pairs of Christian Louboutin shoes. His father even urges him to purchase a few from a much more designer brand, but he feels comfortable with what he owns, therefore he had a whole shelf of Christian Louboutins.
"Good afternoon Mr. Lee, how can I help you today?" A sales clerk pops up beside you as Donghyuck smiled and greeted her. "Hello Min Ji, I'm looking for a pair of black dress shoes for our graduation."
The sales clerk looked like she was around your age. She had long blonde hair with soft streaks of pink at the end and her softly tanned skin gave her an alluring glow. She was beautiful, her lips small and puckered with her simple lip gloss and a light coat of BB Cream and powder. She had a simple makeup look but she seemed naturally good looking.
"Ah yes. A delivery of stocks arrived so we have a few pairs that you might like. This way." She said and Donghyuck follows behind her. His fingers still interlocked with yours as he softly tugs you along. His eyes wandered around the shelves in search for something he might like. Christian Louboutin was well known for making red soled shoes for both men and women. As mentioned, Donghyuck admires the brand and owns a lot of pairs from the particular brand. Even his school shoes are Christian Louboutin.
"Do you think this looks good on me darling?" He asks as he takes a seat and tries one of it on. You looked at him from head to toe, and vice versa, nodding in approval. "You look good in anything Donghyuck." You mumbled and he chuckles. He heard it. "Darling. Please, don't give me false hopes." He says and takes the shoe off. "Can I try on the Greggo Flat?" Donghyuck asked and Min Ji nodded. He turns towards you and smiles.
He looked even brighter when he smiled. It was something you saw often, for Donghyuck is a very jolly and frolicsome person. Every time you saw him in the hallways with his friends, they always seemed to roister around and that alone, was a spiffing view. Donghyuck was exquisite, his pearly whites could blind you if you stared at him for too long. He was the reason of your heart drumming against your chest, and your stomach churning from excitement. He was your little drug, there was no denying that you were addicted.
"Here you are." Min Ji comes back to place another shoe on the floor. Donghyuck tries it on once again and seeks your approval. Lifting a thumbs up, Donghyuck beams and nods at Min Ji. "I'll take the Mika Sky Flat, and the Greggo Flat." Min Ji bows quickly and proceeds to packing the shoes and settling them on the register table.
"Hey darling, try these on." Donghyuck said as he handed you a pair of white sneakers. You looked at him in confusion, and he pushes you towards an empty seat. "Just try it please." He pleads and you sigh. Untying the shoe laces of your Adidas, you slipped it off and slipped on the one that Donghyuck gave you. "It's a little too tight." You said and slipped it off immediately. Donghyuck calls for Min Ji to get a pair in a size bigger, and lets you try it on once more.
"How does it feel darling?" He asked and you smiled. "It's really comfortable. I like it." You said truthfully, slipping it off and putting on your Adidas ones. "Pack this for me please." He says and passes the shoes to Min Ji. "Donghyuck, no. I'll pay for that." You said and Donghyuck shook his head.  Both of you argued for a solid 5 minutes before you gave up and Donghyuck placed a soft kiss on your forehead. He walked over to another aisle and came back with another pair of white sneakers. Taking a seat beside you, he tries it on for himself. "Does it look good darling?" He asked once more and you nodded. "It looks good on you, especially if you pair with a fashion casual attire." He smiled and once again, asked Min Ji to pack it up.
Probably satisfied with his shopping, Donghyuck walks over to the counter with one hand behind your back and the other holding on to his wallet. "Mr. Lee, your total comes to 3,900,000 won." Donghyuck hands over his card and pulls you closer to him. In your families, purchases like these, were normal. When everything is handed to you in a silver platter, it's as if everything was possible. But no, it isn't. Not all. Because in the end, money can never buy love, happiness and freedom. And that's why you never enjoyed living the privileged life.
Both of you walked out the store and continued roaming around. After a while, Donghyuck brought you to a restaurant and you had dinner. It was late when he decided to take you home. The car was filled with a comforting silence. Donghyuck's fingers intertwined with yours as he kept the other glued on the wheel. The day passed by pretty quickly. Every time you were with Lee Donghyuck, it's as if the time passes by like a breeze. And soon enough, you were back home, snuggled under your blanket with a soft smile on your lips.
"Goodnight darling. I had fun, and I hope you did too. Sleep tight."
___
You woke up to the sound of murmurs around the mansion and the booming voice of your father. Groaning, you got up from your bed and headed into the bathroom to brush your teeth and cleanse your face. After 30 minutes or so, you descended from the staircase in your Rosamosario robe and foam slippers.
"Congratulations on your engagement Miss Y/N." Haeun, one of your house keeper says as she bows curtly in front of you. Engagement? You were not informed about any engagements. "Engagement?" You asked and she nods firmly. "I suggest you speak with your father. He is having his breakfast in the dining room." She says and you hurriedly walked towards the said room.
Your father sat comfortably in his usual spot, the head of the table. He had his face buried in his newspaper, while his other hand held a cup of green tea. "Y/N." He calls out and settles the paper down. "Father, what is this engagement all about?" You asked.
"Dear, as you already know. I intend for you to take over my place as soon as possible. Since you are graduating next month, I have decided for you to be married 7 months after your graduation. By that time, you will already be 20. Therefore, I have already announced your engagement. Hwang Hyunjin of the Hwang Corporation. As you know, they own 62% of the hospitals throughout the country, which will be a major boost in our business. It's a good unification." He says, not even allowing you to speak your mind about the situation.
"Father. I don't intend to be tied down so soon. Please." You answered and he slams his palms on the table, emitting a loud booming sound that echoes throughout the room. Your father was never one of the patient ones. Neither does he like it when someone opposes him. "Y/N. Whatever I say goes, and you have no choice but to oblige." He says.
Your blood boiled with whatever he said. Sure, you expected this to happen, you were aware of the possibilities of an arranged marriage, for it was ineluctable. But never would you expect it to happen so soon. You were too young to be unified. Let alone be married to someone, you were not even comfortable with, or knew a lot about.
Hwang Hyunjin. He was ethereal. As if ripped from the cosmos and used as a figure to mock unembellished mortals. Aside from Donghyuck's group of friends that caught the attention of the students in campus, there was another. They called themselves Stray Kids. They too had the looks of a god, the figures of well molded objects and the seductive charms of Zeus himself. Hwang Hyunjin was a part of this so-called group. He was divine. His tall, slender figure that towers over the other students, his eyes that turn into slits when he smiles, his pouty lips and his adorable little mole. He was easily good looking. Aside that he was an amazing dancer with such powerful charisma, people tend to drool when they watch him perform on stage. Truthfully, Hwang Hyunjin could be anyone's prince charming. His whole guise screams a character torn from the pages of a fairytale.
Even so, you did not look at him any other way, than simply, an acquaintance. You talked from time to time, but you couldn't really label each other as friends. Unlike Lee Donghyuck, Hyunjin was simply unorthodox. He does not give off that comforting and welcoming vibe like Donghyuck and the Dreamies. Not to be misunderstood, Hyunjin was nice. In fact, he was an angel. He offered you banana milk every time he sees you by the waiting shed, alone and vulnerable. He would sit and wait with you for your chauffeur to pick you up, before he would take his cue to leave. Yet, once again, he was not Lee Donghyuck.
Hwang Hyunjin was and never will be the man to make your heart swell. He could never be the one to make your heart race like how Donghyuck does. He could never make you blush with some silly nickname that has no meaning. He could never burn your lips the way Donghyuck does when he brushes his lips against yours in the most dulcet way. Hwang Hyunjin could never give you that felicity, the way Donghyuck does.
And so, you lay in bed, tears welling to the brim of your eyes as you cast out the agonizing articles that circulated through the internet about your engagement with Hwang Hyunjin. It was bound to happen, you expected it. But why did it hurt this way. Why does each tear that slipped from your eye feel like needles pricking your soft skin? It burned though its tracks and caused your head to pound. Being engaged to Hyunjin is not so bad. He was compassionate, and fun. But why does it hurt thinking about being unified to him?
Could it be that there was someone else in the deepest part of your mind that you wished were the one instead. Probably.
Your phone vibrated from the bedside table. Skeptical about reading the notification, you grabbed the gadget and slowly lifted it up in front of you.
"I really hoped the rejection would come later. But I guess you were too eager to get rid of me huh darling? I wished you could've told me in person though. It's painful to see your face in the media with the caption of engagement, and that man you were getting engaged  with was not me. Congratulations darling. Be happy and I hope he treats you well."
Donghyuck, I'm sorry.
___
It's been weeks since the announcement and Donghyuck's message for you. You left him on read for it was painful enough to read. And neither of you were ready to have a deep talk about the announcement. You were too hurt to discuss further about the topic and Donghyuck on the other hand was not in the stable emotional state to talk to you. He was disappointed and deeply afflicted to the point where his friends had to come over to his house and drag him out of bed just to get ready for school. They had a hard time doing so for Donghyuck didn't like the idea of seeing you around in campus while the news kept on coming about your engagement with Hwang Hyunjin.
Everyone in school was shocked about the news, as it was so sudden and rushed. They started interrogating you and due to the suffocating crowd, Hyunjin had to save your vulnerable self from the crowd. It was the first time he actually interacted with you since that announcement. He pulled you towards the cafeteria to have a proper conversation. Unaware of the deadly glares that burned your backs from a certain Lee Donghyuck. He decided to leave school early, since everyone was simply preparing for the graduation, there was no major reason to actually show up, unless you were a part of the organizing committee. His friends tried to stop him, but there's no containing a heart that has been shattered.
"Hey. Are you busy? If not, how would you like a little coffee date?" It was Hyunjin. You smiled bitterly at your screen and sighed. Typing a reply, you got changed into a pair of light washed jeans and an oversized hoodie. Walking over to your shoe rack, your eyes landed on the Christian Louboutin Vieira that Donghyuck bought you weeks ago. It was still new and unused. You decided to only use it when you were with him or alone. The pair meant a lot to you, so you tried your best to keep it untouched. Grabbing the worn out pair of Adidas from the top rack, you slipped it on and walked out of the room.
At the end of the marble staircase was your mother, she had her usual soft look with her matching heartwarming smile. "I'm off to hang out with Hyunjin. I'll be back before dinner." You said as you placed a soft kiss on her cheek. She nods and you leave the house to drive off to Heio's.
Upon arriving, you immediately spotted Hwang Hyunjin. He was wearing a sleeveless white shirt tucked into his black jeans and finishing off with a pair of black sneakers. You walked over to the booth and took a seat in front of you. "What would you like?" He asked as he tapped his card on the table, awaiting your answer.
"Can I get a strawberry milkshake and a slice of the vanilla cake?" You asked and he nodded. He then stood up to head to the counter to place your orders. A few minutes later, he came back with a tray full of food and beverages. "Here's your milkshake and cake." He says and places it in front of you. Smiling, you thanked him as he took his seat opposite you.
"Based on my knowledge, you and Donghyuck hang out here a lot?" You bit back a choke from your throat as you tried desperately to swallow the piece of cake. "Why? Are you my stalker?" You countered and Hyunjin laughed. His voice was pure, with a mixture of a slight hint of depth. He had a genuine laugh, one that could comfort you in chilly nights. But not enough to drown you in your thoughts. "Bold of you to assume I stalk you. I simply come across the both of you when the car passes by on the way back home." He says and you nodded.
"Would you be honest with me Y/N?" Hyunjin says as he sits up straight. You shrugged and continued to sip your milkshake, encouraging him to shoot his question. "Is there something between you and Lee Donghyuck?" He asks and your lips left the straw as if it was burning in flames.
"What makes you conclude that?" You asked and he sneered. "Hey, I asked you first." Rolling your eyes, you leaned on the soft cushion of the booth and crossed your arms over your chest. "Nothing. I like him. That's all. It's one sided." You answered and Hyunjin raised his brow. It was the truth. Whatever you had with Donghyuck, it was and always will be one sided. For you know Donghyuck would never be able to reciprocate that feeling of affection. Sure, he showers you with all these sweet actions, like dates, the confession and the kiss. But it didn't mean that much to him, for Donghyuck was a heartbreaker. He may not think about it, nor it'd be his intention to do so, but you were not stupid enough to believe in his little cantrips. You had no plans in getting hurt, nor getting humiliated, so as hard as it may be, you'd have to let go of the petty feelings and fantasies you had of Lee Donghyuck. For Lee Donghyuck, was, and never will be yours.
"I sincerely doubt that." You puckered your lips and stared at Hyunjin. Indeed, he was ravishing, his cat like eyes, pointed nose, defined jawline and his soft hair that scattered all over his face. Hwang Hyunjin was undoubtedly beautiful, as if a majestic creature that set foot on the Earth. He was a dream come true, consider yourself lucky if he noticed you, for Hyunjin was the realization that perfection did exist. However, you did not seek perfection. You seek a man who spends his money recklessly on shoes and long-sleeved polos. A man who burns your skin with his soft ones. A man who sucks in all your thoughts, thus causing you to lose coherent thoughts when he held your hand and kissed you. And that man was none other than the devil, Lee Donghyuck.
"Listen here sweetheart. As much as I'd love to wake up next to you and have breakfast with you, and do all those married couple things, I never want to be a reason for two lovers to break apart. I know for a fact that Donghyuck loves you, more than you probably know. And I would be genuinely contented, with the thought, that you and Donghyuck could have your happily ever after." Hyunjin says, reaching over the table to grab your hand and placing his over yours, grazing it softly.
"Hyunjin, you know that would never happen. Our families have a long history with each other, and it's not a good one." You said and Hyunjin nods, "Yes, sweetheart I know. But what if both of you are the key to ending that rivalry. Your father can't do anything about it, if you marry Donghyuck, you'd still be the heir to your company. There is no one else that he could pass it to." He was right. You were the last of your entire family line that could inherit the position, so despite your father's decisions, if something were to happen, he has no choice but to pass it on to you.
"Hyunjin-" He smiles and let’s go of your hand, stopping your sentence. "Go sweetheart. Find him and please, confess to him how you truly feel." He says, and with that both of you stood up. He embraced you in a tight hug and you've never felt this grateful before. Hyunjin truly was an angel in disguise.
You ran out of the café and got into your Loire Blue 2020 Jaguar F-Type, driving out into the main road. Grabbing your phone from the cupholder, you dialed Donghyuck's number while keeping a steady eye on the road.
"I'm sorry the number you have dialed is out of reach. Please try again later." Damn it Donghyuck.
You decided to call one of his friends, Jeno's contact popping out of the screen first. "Hello? Y/N?" His voice was soft and confused from the other line. "Hey Jeno, do you have any idea where Donghyuck is?" You asked hopefully and it sounded as if he choked on his own saliva. "Y/N, we haven't been able to contact him for weeks. He refused to answer our calls and messages since the day we went back to school after the announcement. He left school early that day and we haven't been able to find him. His family is worried sick." He says carefully, afraid of possibly making you worry. But it was too late, you already were. "Can you text me a few locations where he could possibly be?" You asked and Jeno agreed. Ending the call, you received a text message from Jeno with 3 locations.
Heio's, Mark Lee's apartment, Football field. Since you just came from Heio's, it was definitely off the list. Jeno said that Donghyuck and Mark are childhood friends and since Mark graduated, he doesn't have much time to hang out with the Dreamies, but Donghyuck stays at his apartment from time to time. You typed in the address to Mark's apartment, which the information was generously disclosed to you by Lee Jeno. As soon as the navigator located it, you stepped harder on the gas pedal and the car bolted through the road. You weren't a bad driver, in fact you were actually one of the best, your parents simply don't like the idea of their little princess zipping across Seoul in a blue Jaguar.
As soon as you arrived, you took the elevator up to the 7th floor, where Mark's apartment was. 716, it was Mark's door. You rang the doorbell and after a while, the door opened, and Mark stood at the opposite side. His jet-black hair covered all over the place and his round glasses slipping off his nose. "Oh, Y/N?" He said and opened the door wider, allowing you to enter. Mark's apartment was cozy, it had a simple white and beige aesthetic, and it was spacious enough for at least 3 people. "If I may ask, what brings you to my apartment?" He asked, as the both of you sat on his leather couch. He handed you a warm cup of water and you accepted it.
"Jeno told me Donghyuck might be here. They've been looking for him for a few weeks. He also told me that they couldn't update you since you were pretty busy with your work so they decided to simply keep it from you. I hope you understand." You said and Mark nodded. His fingers tapping on his lips. Mark Lee was your senior last year. He was older than the 5 of you, followed by Chenle who is currently 19, and Jisung who is 18. The 7 of them were really close, and it was as if Mark was the leader of the pack. He was smart, talented and also good looking. After the graduation, his parents released the statement that he would take over their company which had 2 bases, one in Korea and the other in Canada. Mark has been preoccupied for the past year, preparing for his travel to Canada in order to check up on how the business is there.
"I haven't talked to Donghyuck and the others for a few months now. Like they said, I've been quite busy so I didn't have much time to interact with them. Also, why are you out here searching for him? Have you suddenly become close friends?" Mark knew about the rivalry between the companies, but he never knew about your relationship with Donghyuck. He always considered both of you as acquaintances, but Donghyuck had only mentioned about you and his affection for you this year. So, no, Mark Lee does not know.
"You could say that. But anyways, I've got to look for him. Would you mind if I made my way out?" You asked and Mark stood up with you, shaking his head. "No no, it's totally fine. Update me when you've found him please. Good luck." He says and you exit the apartment.
By the time you got out of the elevator, the sky was dark and the rained poured heavily onto the streets. Pulling your hood over your head, you ran to your car and got in as quick as possible. It was already 20 minutes till 7 and you had one last place to check. You were skeptical about the place but knowing Donghyuck, he spent a lot of time by the empty football field in the school campus. Sighing, you turned on the car and drove off towards the school.
Since it was a Friday night, the school might still be open at this hour since the teachers don't really leave until around 8 or 9 pm. Pulling into the parking lot, you ran towards the field. Despite the heavy rain that drenched your whole body, you tried desperately to search for Donghyuck. There was a figure in the distance, he was standing there, a ball between his legs and he simply stared at it. His hands were shoved into his pocket. You continued to walk towards it and as you got closer, you realized who it was. It was him. Lee Donghyuck.
"Donghyuck." You whispered softly and he turns to look at you. He looked so sick. His lips were pale, his eyes had bags under them and his beautiful smile, it was no longer there. He too, was drenched from head to toe. "Darling." You teared up with the mere mention of his nickname for you. He smiled and pulled you into his embrace. It was welcoming and comforting, it somehow made you feel warmer and fuzzy. Donghyuck always felt like home, he was that someone you craved to hold on to during scary nights when lightning lit up the skies followed by the ear-piercing roar of thunder. He was your escape from this harsh world, for Donghyuck had always felt so right.
"Darling, please just stay with me. I can't live a life wherein you're married to some other man. I know how you feel about me darling. I know you feel the same way. Please stop denying it." He whispers. His chin was on top of your head, your heart churned at the sound of his voice. He was in agony, and you knew that. His voice, it sounded like that of a broken plea, it sounded so hoarse and it pained you to see him in this state. This was not the Lee Donghyuck that took you on dates, he was not the ebullient and stentorian Lee Donghyuck that walked by the school hallways. He was the damaged, afflicted Lee Donghyuck that you created. You were the reason why Donghyuck skipped school and refused to talk with his friends. You were the cause as to why the sunshine aura that he once possessed, dimmed and finally burned away. You were to blame for Donghyuck's current state.
"Donghyuck. I'm so sorry." You started. Pulling away from him, your small hands cupped his face and you stared at him deeply. He was burdened, in a maze of misery, wandering around to search for salvation wherein only you could be. He skipped meals, lacked sleep and was almost never home due to the torment that he brought upon himself. He blamed himself for being too late to claim your hand. It was because he was petrified of the rejection that might occur, as to why he never got to fully express himself to you. For Lee Donghyuck loved you very much, yet he was agitated to manifest how he truly felt for you, thus causing you to slip away from his grasp.
"Donghyuck, I'm here. I will stay with you. I will fight for you Donghyuck, for I love you too much to let go of. I will talk to my father, it's you who I desire Lee Donghyuck." And with that, Donghyuck smiled. He pulls you back into his embrace, his arms trapping your smaller frame in his, afraid of letting go, afraid that you might slip away once more. He cups your cheeks in his hand and presses his lips against yours. Tiptoeing, your arms hung loosely on Donghyuck's neck as you shared a deep and passionate kiss with the one who you truly longed for. After a while, he pulled away and presses your foreheads together.
"Darling, I love you." He whispers and crashes his lips on to yours, once more.
Kissing Donghyuck is like exploding fireworks in the sky. He just felt so right. The way both your lips moved in perfect harmony and how his fingers gripped on your waist tightly, it was like you were floating in heaven. Donghyuck had and always will have this effect on you, and only him. Only Lee Donghyuck could bring you this high, only he could render your mind useless, and only he could leave you breathless. For Lee Donghyuck was the only one who could make you feel this way. Lee Donghyuck was a mix of euphoria and affliction. Yet, you would willingly burn with him in flames, for you lived and breathed for Lee Donghyuck, and with that, he could do anything he wanted to you. He could love you until his last breath, or he could hurt you until you'd wither away. Lee Donghyuck was your first and last love. You'd fight the world, in order to be with your illicit desire, to be with Lee Donghyuck.
Illicit Desire; l.dh
Word Count: 2K
Summary: A secret friendship between the heirs of rival companies. But behind the label of friendship, feelings of affection lingered. Donghyuck who would give up everything to be with you, goes out of his way to show you how he feels. It’s a risky decision, but he’d do anything to make you his. Despite being an illicit desire.
Author’s Note: This was all based of my imaginations. Plot was reccomended to me by a friend. Credits to the KDrama The Inheritors, this is where I got a small bit of the Business School idea from. As mentioned, these were mere products of my imaginations, and does not define the idols mentioned.
Your father calls out to you as soon as you descended from the staircase. You smiled at him and raised your brows to encourage him to continue with what he wanted to say. "As you already know, your brother already took over your grandfather's business. Your sister has also started her own business in the field of fashion and cosmetics. I am expecting you to take over mine."
Here we go again. This is one of the things you despise in this household. The responsibilities and pressure that comes with this family business and the name of the family, it's reputation. Since your siblings and you were young, you were taught how to act, how to maintain your characters and at a young age, you were already taught about your businesses so that you may be prepared to take over it as soon as your parents or grandparents, say so.
"What are you hinting at?" You asked bluntly. He sighs and pats your back, "Do you have a boyfriend?" You frowned at his question and it hit you hard. He wants to arrange a marriage for you. Probably a unification with the son or heir to another company in order for them to expand the business.
You were always told that at some point, things like this would happen. But you never agreed or liked the idea of it. They say its crucial and beneficial. But you don't agree with it at all. Sure, it may have worked for your brother, he fell in love with his fiance, which was a win-win situation because he got love, and it benefit the business.
Yet again, it can't happen all the time. It might not be the case for you, thus, you never liked the idea of an arranged marriage. "No, I don't." Your father nodded apathetically. As if he had an idea in mind, one that surely, you would not be in favor with.
"Father, whatever you are thinking of, I would not agree to it. So, let me leave for school in peace." And with that, you exited the tensed house and got into the car, your chauffeur driving you to school.
Upon arrival, your good friend Hana greeted you. She is as beautiful as ever. As if torn from a page in the books of Greek mythology. Her perfectly tanned skin as if drizzled by both honey and caramel, glows even from afar. Her cherry lips, a beautiful hue of red. If Aphrodite had a modern look, Hana would be the perfect embodiment.
"Goodmorning." She smiles. You greeted her back and walked to your class. Going to a business management school, there are three tiers. The highest tier are those wherein their families are founders or the CEO of a company. Students like you. Second tier are those like Hana, who share percentages of shares in the stockholders. And the last tier, those who are from the scholarship program, given by higher positions of a business.
Most people make a big deal out of the tier rankings, especially those of the lowest tier. Majority of them would pick on the students saying they don't belong to the school, but nevertheless, you didn't really think of it that way. Those from lower tiers could still graduate with a good degree and even start their own business. No one should just a book by its cover.
As both of you were walking, the hallway suddenly became stuffy. As if all the air was sucked out of it, leaving you to grasp your chest and breathe heavily. Everyone started crowding together and you were suddenly dragged into the crowd of students by your friend.
"Donghyuck. It's Lee Donghyuck and his friends!" The girls started squealing and whispering loudly amongst their friends. Whenever this happens, you tend to stay as far away from Hana as possible, knowing her huge crush on Lee Jeno, she'd drag you into all this mess, which you absolutely hated.
Lee Donghyuck. He was gorgeous. His face, perfectly shaped, as if molded ever so well by the gods and brought upon the Earth to wreak havoc towards the mortals. His fair skin, it glows in a different way unlike how Hana's glows. It's a glow that entrances you until you lose your mind, oblivious to the pain that comes after it. He was perfection, the ones that when you touch it, it stains gold that burns, beautiful yet painful.
Despite his good looks, it was prohibited that you fall for him. Lee Donghyuck is the heir to your family's rival company. All this feud started way back before both of you were brought into this earth. Both families fought for the #1 spot of businesses related to medicines. It has always been a close call, but your family always manages to stay on top with a few points ahead.
However, you had no hatred towards Donghyuck at all. You never had a thing for grudges or feuds, so as much as it was required to dislike him, you could never do so. You had always treated him as a friend. The one that you could never really have a strong connection with. The one that has to be kept in the shadows. A forbidden friendship.
It's once in a blue moon for you and Donghyuck to have a casual conversation, as it has always been imprinted in both of yours minds that rumors spread as fast as lightning, thus when articles spread about your little friendship, the reputation of both companies will hang on burning wires. Moreover, neither of you had the heart to cause problems.
You tried desperately to get out of the crowd as it was suffocating and the never ending squeals made your head hurt. Unfortunately, you couldn't. everyone was pushing like a herd of zebras in a waterhole. Instead of getting out, you were pushed towards the front, until you lost your balance. Your palms making contact with the marbled tiles.
"Are you alright?" A hand extended out in front of you, gesturing out a polite way to get you back on your feet. Lifting your head from the ground, you met with Donghyuck's beautiful face, the sunlight hitting every feature he has, making him seem bewitching. It was as if he was grazed gracefully by the sun god Apollo himself. A ravishing view indeed.
You heard him whisper, his soft and beguile voice rung in your ears, "Darling, you're staring. It drives me demented." With that, you placed your hand over his, as he helped to pull you up. Dusting your skirt, you shot him an annoyed look.
"I would never look at you that way Donghyuck." Lies. He raised his eyebrows, clearly refusing to believe your bold claims. He stood in front of you with his arms crossed over his chest and a stupid smirk played on his lips. "Why are you looking at me like that?" You sassed.
He just shrugged and continued smirking. Stupid smirk. It was that look that made you question yourself. How sure were you that you would never see him as anymore than a friend? Were you certain that you wouldn't fall for him? Those were questions, you might never get answers to.
You puffed out a breath of annoyance and shoved pass the crowd of confused girls. Clearly dumbfounded at the scene that played out before their eyes. As mentioned, you and Donghyuck rarely converse.
Donghyuck is the epitome of a collision between heaven and hell. He is everything beautiful yet dangerous. His quintessential features. Those as if perfectly sculpted by professionals. His soft eyes which can set your heart ablaze. His lips, a perfect color of pink. Luscious and soft, ones that make you lick your own. His dirty blonde hair, you can see the soft streaks of his brown roots, it looks so silky and glossy, it shines exquisitely as the sunlight beams over him.
However, he had a careless and fiery attitude. He strongly resembled a dazzling phoenix that soars through the sky. Setting everything it touches into flames and ruining them. He is elegant yet with his divine beauty, comes a riding agony.
———
After class, you walked out of the classroom with Hana beside you, relentless about her unfed curiosity. She has been bugging you the whole day, to spill details about your little encounter with Lee Donghyuck. But of course, you being the stubborn friend, you refused to answer her numerous questions and just continued walking.
As the both of you were talking, whispers and squeals once again fill the hallway. You raised your head to see Lee Donghyuck and his friends walking from afar. What an unfortunate event. Your eyes frantically searched for an escape route. The hallway exit towards the gym. You quickened your pace and turned your heel, walking out to the gym before you could meet up with the vexatious group of friends.
Completely ignoring Hana's voice calling out to you, you continue walking until you reached the entrance of the cafeteria. Taking a deep breath, you inhaled the sweet aroma of the school's cafeteria. You were quite hungry so you opted to buy a snack as you waited for the chauffeur to pick you up.
"In the mood for some cookies and milkshakes, darling?" An arm snaked around your shoulders as a familiar voice tickled your neck. Lee Donghyuck, why was he here?
You whipped your head to meet up face to face with the one guy you dreaded to see. He had that infernal smirk on his lips, once again. "Donghyuck, why are you here?" You asked him curtly. He withdrew his arm from your shoulder and stuffed it into the pockets of his black pants.
"Why are you avoiding me darling?" He asked. With every mention of the little endearment, you feel the butterflies in your stomach, palpitate. Your heart slowly melting like that of an ice cream in a hot summer day.
"Stop calling me that." You couldn't fall for him. It is a verboten feeling.
"Do I make your heart race darling?" He questions teasingly. You rolled your eyes, trying desperately to avoid falling deeper into those deep, alluring orbs of his. He was jesting you, and you were giving into it.
You would be lying to yourself if you said you didn't like him. You did, very much. But it was forbidden. What would your families say when rumors of you falling in love with the heir of Lee Medical Co. circulate? The companies' reputation would shatter.
Is Lee Donghyuck worth all that chaos? Maybe.
"You're a friend Donghyuck. You know the history between our families." You answered him, trying to seemingly forget the thousands of butterflies in your body. He licks his lips and crosses his arms over his chest. The way his tongue ran over his pinkish lips, it made your knees go weak, your mind fuzzy, unable to form coherent thoughts.
He reaches out to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear, and whispers, "I know darling. But what will you do about those looks of affection that you give me? You don't think I notice them?"
You pushed him away from you and raised your brow, "Notice what Lee Donghyuck?"
He smirks once more.
"The way you stare at me darling. As if you've never seen such a masterpiece. As if I was some deity that descended from the sky. How you lick your lips when you stare at mine and how eagerly you try to avoid making eye contact with me, apprehensive that you may fall deeper than the depths of tartaros, with no way of getting back up. I notice them all darling."
He was right, and there was no denying it. You were scared, agitated that these feelings you had for him, would put you at risk and end up bringing affliction to your cynical heart. He had such charms that lured you towards him. Those that make your sense of thinking, incomprehensive.
Lee Donghyuck was the type of love that never could be. He was the seemingly perfect love story that ended tragically. He was that love that was beautiful, a love so patient, so kind, so genuine, but impermissible. He was that love that the world conspired against.
He was an illicit desire.
Whatever I may write, does not define how I see the artists, nor does it define who they really are. I simply write about them for the purpose of satisfying mine, and other fans’ thirst for fun and interesting scenarios.
I mostly write about NCT Dream, but as I go forward with this, I am sure to be writing more about the whole group, and also other groups that I stan, and/or idolize.
HEIRS / HEIRESS AU LIST
➳ LEE DONGHYUCK
⪢ Illicit Desire 1 | 2
➙ A secret friendship between the heirs of rival companies. But behind the label of friendship, feelings of affection lingered. Donghyuck who would give up everything to be with you, goes out of his way to show you how he feels. It’s a risky decision, but he’d do anything to make you his. Despite being an illicit desire.
