Posting inactive ones are still good because if their blog is still up as an archive there’s still good information there to find, you just can’t ask them questions I guess.
Actually, the majority of the writing advice blogs in that list you reblogged from wordsnstuff are inactive or barely active. Do you have a more current list?
I only went through the first two lists, but there are a lot of active and semi-active blogs. But you’re right… there are a lot of inactive blogs on the list, too:
@howtofightwrite (active)@thecaffeinebookwarrior (active)@justawritingaid (active)@writersrelief (active)@heywriters (active)@theticklishpear (active)@djmunden (active)@writingdotcoffee (active)@elliewritesstories (active)@gettingitwrite (active)@feathered-quill (active)
@relatableteenwriter (semi-active)@brynwrites (semi-active/on hiatus)@writingwithcolor (semi-active)
@fixyourwritinghabits (last post 11/28/19)@authors-haven (last post 11/16/19)@thewritershandbook (last post 11/15/19)@krforsyth (last post 11/08/19)
@thecharactercomma (last post 9/22/19)@muffinswritingblog (last post 9/20/19)@thewritershelpers (last post 8/27/19)@lizard-is-writing (last post 7/27/19)@writing-tips-daily (last post 6/14/19)
I don’t have a better list myself, as most of the blogs I follow are in this list, and the ones that aren’t are no longer active anyway. Does anyone have any recommendations of active blogs that aren’t on the above list? If I get enough suggestions I’ll put a new list together. :)

Have a question? My inbox is always open, but make sure to check through my FAQ and post master lists first to see if I’ve already answered a similar question. :)

One of the things that really gets to me about Tumblr fandom’s view of relationships is the idea (sometimes stated outright, often implied) that there’s some kind of clear dividing line between healthy and not-healthy, between abusive and not-abusive, that people never slide back and forth between those things or slip over the line, and that’s just … not how human relationships work. And it’s one thing when you’re holding fictional characters to an absurdly high standard, but it makes me worry that a lot of people are internalizing the idea that human relationships aren’t messy and complicated and sometimes painful, and that’s really going to make life hard for you. You’ll either end up beating yourself up way too much for doing utterly normal things, or beating up on other people for doing utterly normal things, and you’ll let a lot of things that could have been good slip through your fingers because they aren’t perfect.
Look, I’m not saying anybody should stay in a relationship that’s toxic for them, and ideally we should all be in happy supportive relationships with people who make us happy all the time, but human emotions are a mess.
You WILL do terrible, awful things. You’ll be selfish. You’ll hurt people. Sometimes they’ll forgive you and sometimes they won’t. Every long-term relationship you have will end up being littered with the memories of times you were both awful to each other.
You’ll fall in love with people who don’t love you, and be loved by people you don’t love. Sometimes you might try to make a relationship (or a friendship) work anyway. Sometimes it’ll even work out.
You’ll end up loving some people you never in a million years thought you’d feel that way about, because you got a terrible first impression and misjudged them. You’ll look back and think, How could I not have known how awesome they were? But you didn’t, then. And you’ll walk away from other people who could have been just as beloved and never know it.
A lot of times you won’t be able to tell how other people feel about you at all, and you’ll just have to keep going anyway.
You’ll break up friendships by doing stupid, selfish things.
You’ll put your trust in the wrong people, and the wrong places, and have it broken.
You’ll do some things thinking you’re the good guy at the time, and realize in retrospect that you weren’t.
You’ll change your mind about a lot of stuff. You’ll realize that some of the things you used to believe were kind of messed up. Sometimes you’ll change your mind because of people around you and then realize that you were right all along. Sometimes you’ll realize that nobody’s right or wrong, but have to make a decision anyway.
You’ll interfere where you shouldn’t and get your ass handed to you. You’ll fail to interfere where you should have, and feel guilty for the rest of your life.
(Not everyone will do all of these things. But it’s humanly impossible not to do at least some of them.)
And none of that makes you an awful person or undeserving of love or bad to be around?! It’s just how people are. It’s how EVERYONE is, even the ones who seem like they have it together. Life is messy and complicated and confusing, and it hurts. People can do awful things and be forgiven. In fact, if that weren’t true, none of us would have any relationships at all.
I don’t know, I’m just thinking about this today, because expecting perfection of fictional characters is one thing (they’re fictional, it doesn’t hurt them) but it’s going to mess you up in all kinds of ways if you think that’s actually how real life works.

I will never ever ever ever EVER be over Character A barely surviving something and Character B being so overcome with relief they just have to clutch A and bury their face in A’s neck while A tells them it’s okay.

I’m not a request blog right now though I sort of tried it in a different fandom once (my style of writing and my “work ethic” doesn’t really go well with running a request blog...as I found out) so I’d say it’s actually kind of rude? Maybe the people sending them don’t realize that but it really seems that way and some blogs might be worried that writing for the same request people have taken ideas from each other or something.
I would say send the request you want to the person you want to write it and leave it at that. No double dipping. If you want to see how multiple different people write the same thing then start a prompt challenge! But requests aren’t really the way to do that, I’d think.
My question isn't directed towards a specific ask per se. It's more me trying to prevent any backlash... I guess. I just want to try and avoid having any issues regarding a scenario where an anon asks multiple writers including me to write a specific fic. How do I check and see if a request has been spam asked, for future reference.
Tumblr media
If you mean like getting hate/mean anon (aka Trolls), do what is best for yourself and mental health. You block them. You can block anonymous.
Oh Okay! if it’s like repeated ask, as in copied and paste multiple times to other writers. There is a reason that I can see but I also understand it would be ignoring.
The reason I have seen is that they want to see how different writers write the ask because we are not the same and have different writing styles.
However, to be completely honest, it is hard to keep track if anonymous wrote the same ask other writers. There are so many writers in the community. You could ask other blogs if they received the same ask but in total. It is hard to keep track if it original or repeated.
I know its probably not the answer you wanted, but I tried.
Other writing bnha blogs! if you have something to add to my response, please write it on this post or reblog it.
Therefore, I wish you the best of luck!
And Welcome to the BNHA Writing Community!

I don’t know if Tumblr is still eating asks or not. But there was more in my inbox than what the notification showed plus I heard Tumblr was glitching and messing up a lot yesterday or something? So if I haven’t answered an ask as of now then it’s because I didn’t get it.

Hi! Secret Santa here! How do you spend Chrismas? Is there any tradition in the festivities? Any kind of food that you would eat every year? Have a nice day!
Thanks!
Me and my family put up some decorations with the tree but nothing too big. And me and my mom usually bake Christmas themed treats like cookies cut into shapes with sprinkles and stuff. We also travel to see family sometimes too. And then there’s presents but we don’t usually have, like, a bunch like some people do. So we celebrate but it’s pretty low key compared to some other families.

A1 and A2 of the ask a reader meme thing
When did you start reading fanfiction? Man, this is a bit embarrassing I guess but I was really little. Like 10 to 11? I guess the reason it’s embarrassing is because no one should be getting into internet culture or fandom culture that early and so when I talk about it I’m always careful not to advocate that it’s okay to be active in fandom spaces at such a vulnerable age. I mean, it wasn’t that long ago but 10 is still really young to be on the internet and people really grow and change rapidly during the 10-11 to 12-13 stage and stuff. But I’d always been an avid reader ever since I learned to read and I was usually alone. I didn’t really have much interaction with other kids my age for a variety of reasons, my sisters were older than me and not interested in playing with me, and my mom was always busy because she was a single parent at the time. So I just sort of stumbled upon it while messing around on the computer and that was the end of it. I’ve been off and on in fandom ever since because it sort of became my safe space. Incidentally the first fics I came across where reader-inserts as well which has been a big reason I’m so into them.
How did you find your first fic? I have a hard time remember exactly what led me to finding out about fanfiction. I just stumbled across it. I think it might have been Quizilla just before it shut down (when was the exact date it shut down for good? I have a hard time remembering) since it was connected to Nickelodeon. Maybe I’d been on some of their other sites because I watched some shows on Nick and then one thing led to another. I do know that fanfic was what got me into anime/manga instead of the other way around. Because I came across Naruto fanfic and was curious what Naruto was and the rest is history.
