hua cheng's favorite of xie lian's friends is sqx. and its probably bc sqh is very vocal abt their support of hualian.

conversely, hx is xl's least favorite of hc's friends. i choose to believe xl only holds grudges when someone hurts the ppl he cares about not him. so even if sqx has forgiven hx, xl has not.

sj being a slightly unhinged history teacher and he takes his students to the most dangerous places. they're safe (mostly) as long as they stay by his side.

"-now a days, this area is offlimits. any questions?"

"ah shizun," luo binghe shyly raises his hand. "if that demon monster was completely sealed, and it's been so many years, why is it still off limits?"

the room felt several degrees cooler and binghe wondered if he'd somehow overstepped. shen jiu was completely still except for a quick uptick of the corner of his lips.

"would my disciple really like to know?"

there was no way for binghe to know but both ning yingying and ming fan were both begging for him to answer no in their heads. what binghe did know, was that sj was giving him a look other than indifference. so, binghe eagerly nodded.

shen jiu's smile grew wider, "let's go, then."

and off the three went to a section right off the edge of the forbidden area. despite being several feet away from the flags that marked the zone as closed off, the disciples could feel the demonic energy radiating from there. sj gleefully (well as gleefully as a man who never seemed to show emotions other than apathy) explained that the monster had indeed been sealed for over a century but energy cannot truly be destroyed only changed and that while it may not seem like it, there were plants that grew that that absorbed the demonic energy and it just needed more time. mf is barely keeping himself upright. nyy is a bit green and asking to go back. lbh is very confused

au where mengyao's mother also raised sj.

instead of sj staying in the qiu manor, he is thrown away to a brothel. meng shi (my's mom) takes him under her wing immediately. he's a few years younger than her son and she is sure he is something special.

sj and my get off to a rough start. meng yao is not a fan of the fact that his mother now has to work harder to care for this ungrateful brat (he also doesn't like sharing his mother's attention). shen jiu is ready to fight the world. but, after sj defends my's mother from the incessant gossip from the other prostitutes. meng yao decides that maybe the other boy is alright.

meng yao teaches shen jiu the little cultivation he's taught himself from the books his mother had managed to give him. shen jiu opens up about his fear that qi-ge would never be able to find him. meng yao assures him that if anything, they could go searching for yue qi themselves.

at that point, meng yao still has hope his father may help them. though that hope doesn't last long. shen jiu is almost as furious as him when he finds out what that ass for a father said about meng shi. shen jiu declares they'll get revenge.

i'm thinking brothers shen jiu, meng yao, and i want to give them a third brother from tgcf but i'm unsure of who. my initial thought is jun wu, simply bc he's evil and in power but i also like the idea of he xuan

as i've said to the masses before, i dont condone declawing sj

HOWEVER, sj gets his limbs ripped off, the love of his life dies and with his death goes the last of his will to live. sj suffers ALOT. (some would argue he deserved it). if someone wants to uwuify him a little, let him be happy in a different universe, who cares. like yeah sj wouldn't adopt a baby sy but he is going to in this au because he already reaped more than he sowed

thinking abt a modern au where highschool student sj breaks up with yq saying that sj didn't want to be poor forever (sj felt they were holding eachother back and wanted to leave yq before yq left him). yq swallows his hurt and smiles sadly as he accepts this.

sj assumes this is the end of this. they go to different colleges . one day, they will forget about eachother. though sj can never truly escape the rising star of the entertainment industry.

he does not know how to react after opening his apartment door to find yue qingyuan (as he goes by now) holding a bouquet of roses and what seems to be the deed to a house with sj's name on it. how did he even know his address

sphinx guardian!yuan who each ask riddles for adventurers to solve or face death. binghe who manages his riddles to well and decides to come and go as he pleases.

shen yuan falls for binghe's charm, though he denies it to the end. he's unsure why binghe continues to come for to his cave when realistically binghe could have taken the treasure shen yuan protected the first time.

still, he isn't mad at seeing the adventurer come back. one night, sy asks why and binghe says he gets lost. it's shocking at first. he remembers his labyrinth to be pretty straight forward. it was long but even a novice adventurer who solved his riddle should take no more than a week to traverse it. he offers to help binghe, since binghe had solved his riddles it only makes sense. he transforms to stand on two legs. he keeps his tail but hides his wings.

shen yuan worries about how someone so clumsy and who cries as easily as binghe does, has managed to become an adventurer. it's odd how binghe will cling to him despite being a head taller and much broader than shen yuan. a protective instinct settles in shen yuan. he cannot leave this poor guy alone, he'll tag along until binghe is able to stand alone.

binghe has no intention of letting his sphinx ever leave him.

shen jiu waking up in a new world and he's a magical girl(boy/man)(this would be right when he died in svsss, as in right before sy wakes up). he has a tiny little hamster with wings (sqh) that acts as his companion and his own very annoying system. he now must fight evil or forfeit his right in the reincarnation cycle. as a bonus, the more monsters he fights and the more miasma he clears up, the better his next life will be.

sj wants nothing to do with it. why was he even there? it isn't his business to fight others battles.

he's walking aimlessly (sqh is back in the room he woke up in) when he comes across the last face he ever wanted to see. it's not quite the same.

luo binghe, the bane of his existence, though much older and broader taller. though just as pathetic. luo Binghe was being pushed around by people much thinner and smaller than him. it was three against one.

shen jiu wanted to turn around and leave them to their business. nothing good comes from him playing hero.

yet.

he can't help it. its only because they were in the way. he turns back around and now it wasnt just lbh and the three stooges, there were also monsters.

shen jiu didn't have a chance to panic because the system turned on and gave him his first mission.

sj turns into his magical form, defeats the monsters, and scares off lbh's assailant. he wants to ignore lbh, but the fool is just staring in to space looking lost and while he may hate him, shen jiu was his shizun (well the other him). so, in a very selfless and out of character move, he calls out for lbh to follow. he leads him to the place he's staying at. (he is still in his magical form mind you.) sqh acts very oddly when seeing lbh but sj stocks up to the hamster being a coward.

shen jiu gives lbh a look over and determines the other to be fine. he berates him ("are you a fool? is all that height and muscle for show? why allow yourself to be degraded? if you're a masochist then do it behind close doors if not fight back or at least run away.") then gives him some tea and kicks him out.

unfortunately, this raised a flag for luo binghe. lbh is actually not weak at all. he has a lot of control of the monsters that have been popping up in the village. by a lot of control, i mean he creates them and they react to his desire. he grew up in this village, being ostracized, taken advantage of, and shunned by others. he can't help it. once they appear, he can't make them disappear but they still respond to his emotions. his resentment boiled over and the monsters appeared. his mental health had been rapidly declining and he was on the verge of letting his resentment take over when shen jiu appeared. he was in an odd outfit and despite his harsh words, he was the first person since his mother to extend sympathy to lbh. now, luo binghe is attached.

meanwhile, sqh realized that this was an au he had written but never finished nor even published. he knows that luo Binghe is supposed to let his resentment and hatred take over and become another sort type demon that can only be saved via a group of magical women. they have magic to get rid of the animals and can heal his resentment via smex. they eventually fall for him (another harem bc if it aint broke). so sqh's very stressed when shen jiu appears with luo Binghe in tow and his heart nearly gives out when sj is so outwardly rude.

so then the rest of the time, sj decides he may as well try to get rid of the monsters though he finds that they become less and less hostile to him. he also keeps running into lbh and despite himself, he grows fonder of him. luo Binghe is stalking shen jiu. shang qinghua needs a fucking break
