Part of the problem is that American culture still largely sees men’s sexism as something innate rather than deviant. And in a world where sexism is deemed natural, the misogynist tendencies of mass shooters become afterthoughts rather than predictable and stark warnings.     The truth is that in addition to not protecting women, we are failing boys: failing to raise them to believe they can be men without inflicting pain on others, failing to teach them that they are not entitled to women’s sexual attention and failing to allow them an outlet for understandable human fear and foibles that will not label them “weak” or unworthy.     Not every attack is preventable, but the misogyny that drives them is. To stop all of this, we must trust women when they point out that receiving streams of death threats on Twitter is not normal and that online communities strategizing about how to rape women are much more than just idle chatter. There is no reason another massacre should happen.

In Defense of Kudos

Confession- Kudos make me HAPPY.

I keep every story comment and every Kudos email from Ao3.

That one click per reader is a good thing. I’m blessed that they come regularly, nearly every day.  It gives me a lift to see a new person leave kudos on more than one of my stories.  I ‘SQUEE’ and say, for instance, “Hey there, ClockWeasel.  Welcome! Thank you for all the love!  I wish I could hug you right now.”  :)  It tells me they liked one of my stories enough that they looked for more from me.  

It makes me want to finish WIPS and write more stories. 

So, yeah, comments and reblogs are AMAZING.  It’s a dream come true to read a thoughtful question or insight RE a story that I put thought and time and effort into. 

But, Kudos matter, too.

Tumblr has a decent community but finding fanfiction on here is painful. I was having trouble finding fics under the Black Panther Fanfiction tag that I could really get into. Considering my preferences are fics that weren’t smut or PWP (sorry, but 98% of the time not my thing), fics that have a more heavy narrative focus (sorry fluff, though I love you too if I’m in the mood), and fics with a Queer presence (Tumblr, you hella Queer, but really a lot of what you have to offer that I’ve found here either falls into smut or fluff), I’ve been finding it tough. 

Then plot bunnies attacked. Considering my massive writer’s block, I was glad. I’m not saying I’m amazing or anything, but it can’t hurt to release what I’ve been up to into the wild here and maybe have some fun dialog and follow some new folks. Who knows, maybe someone else is searching for something they can go for and I’m their cup of tea? :) Aiming for weekly updates. Already a few chapters in so you might see updates like this for a while on the Tumblr until the chapter summaries have caught up.
