Hope you enjoy my headcanon of Iridonian sleepless nights, because I sure do.

anonymous asked:
Given their minimum of body hair, their strong hunting tradition, their racial pride, and their fierce warrior culture, I've always filled in any gaps in my my Iridonian and other Zabrak characters' cultural influence with Northeastern (Iroquois, Algonquian) and Plains (Sioux, Lakota, Comanche, etc.) Native American cultural tendencies.
milli-tricks answered:
That’s an interesting interpretation. One that I hadn’t thought of before. I’ll look into the history and culture of those peoples and see if that matches up with my view of zabraks.
What do people who have a better formed idea of zabrak culture than I do think?
Well, personally I like to go a bit over the top in a mix of exotic cultures (for my taste, anyway) such as ancient Chinese traditions, a dash of India and perhaps a pinch of middle eastern influences. But that’s just my headcanon spiralling amok in regards of aesthetics and vivid imagery.
Though especially the far eastern mythology I could easily place as a proud and warrior-like people, with a big difference in social classes, perhaps even a bit of a caste-like system.
Anyways, I shan’t bore you needlessly with with my Wild speculations and idle fancies, just saw this little gem of a post and felt the need to add something to it.

Sometimes, you get halfway done through a picture and thinks, this was not at all what I wanted to paint, go away painting, you bore me!
And then you post it on tumblr.
Hahaha, right, back to fuming over the ever present fear that another painting must suffer the consequences of sporadically failing computers!

The son of wealthy CEO’s, Jonaz grew up spoiled and not wanting for anything. One day he got bored, bought a cheap freighter, and ran away from home to have adventures as a “legitimate businessman” mostly because the seedy underside of the Galaxy is so much more fun. His family disowned him, which was fine by him because his parents had mostly ignored him to begin with.
He is charming, sneaky, clever, and snarky. He is a coward at heart and will avoid fighting at any cost. . He has a soft heart and cannot say no to a good sob story, though he has been fooled and taken in before— he doesn’t have much pride, so he doesn’t mind risking looking foolish if it means potentially helping someone. As long as it doesn't mean physical danger, or a huge sacrifice on his part.

Aduzeel is a dirty hipster from an independent corporation controlled planet who's just trying to turn enough of a profit to pay for his extensive vintage holorecording collection and outfits carefully planned to look as cheap and quirky stylish as possible.
Before getting into "legitimate business", he was a philosophy/linguistics student with an interest in semiotics, and while it hasn't helped his current pursuits, he doesn't regret it one bit. He can be a bit pretentious, but by no means is he unable to back up his arguments with a swift punch to the face.

Jedi Padawan Khestra Vakarren may not be the strongest in the Force by any stretch, but what she lacks in talent she makes up for in spades with incredible willpower, unending enthusiasm, and practice- LOTS of practice. Under the wings of Konur Sinclaire, her master. and following in the footsteps of him and The Exile Yoru Vin, Khes has become a remarkable lightsaber combatant. A true believer in the Jedi, if not the politics of the Jedi Council, she helps wherever she can in a galaxy torn by war and chaos. This [plus her truly astounding ability to find trouble and make unlikely friends] has led to some grayer views of the Order and the Code. Khes enjoys her animal companions, being with her master, training, sparring, exploring, meeting new people, and helping others, as well as protecting the ideals the Republic and the Jedi stand for, no matter what.

Ellekai Massani is a historian and healer of the Jedi Order. A background in Mandalorian and Jedi Civil War history make her particularly sensitive to the needs of of non-Force-sensitive military personnel, and she's often deployed as a combat medic. Her life's work is the inception of a Reclamation Service for the Republic that's every bit as well provisioned and trained as the long-standing Imperial equivalent.

Nauri Massani is a fencing prodigy and combat veteran of the Jedi Order. After harrowing early deployments to the field, she struggles with reconciling the necessity of warriors in wartime and the healing, building, and helping that she believes to be the Order's true mission. When she's not rotated to the front, she serves as a student-instructor in armed and unarmed combat at the Temple on Tython.

Beto Arin Signas, Republic soldier. He's soft-spoken and kind, and does his best to follow his conscience (though he does enjoy a good prank every now and then). He hopes with his service he can do some good and make his family proud.

Alys Bane, energetic young smuggler. She's new to the business and eager for more adventure, often flying by the seat of her pants. This occasionally costs her more than she expected, for example her prosthetic hand.

Captain Tahiri Signas, criminal mastermind. A paranoid smuggler queen with an eidetic memory and a web of contacts and plots. She has a loose morality, more concerned with gaining profit than doing what is "right". This occasionally puts her at odds with her partner and Grey Jedi Cadem Bane.

Lysara's not quite as nice as her sister, but she's still a vast improvement over most Sith, especially if you're a slave or an alien (or both).
