Yeah the background is from these cute little photo boxes I made, the first one was a Bob Ross painting I did alongside my mate, emptying an ENTIRE POT of one of those citadel snow bottles, the Halo one was free handed to…. adequate levels, and the ship interior was just Lego pieces lol—abused, ripped apart, and painted over.

I’ve only sparingly used the Halo one admittedly (looking at these below, then the ones in the original post you can see how dusty it is lol), as I only had a few models, but I’ve slowly made a bunch now justifying it.

I typically use a backdrop pad that I got off BadSquiddo Games, which is super versatile and is awesome (this is also my “lighting setup”—the noon sun in British weather conditions).

but sometimes requires just that extra diorama look, I’d love to make more and I do actually have more wooden trays that I used to make these with the intention todo that, possibly a woodland or No Man’s Land one? But never gotten around to it.

He needs a Weapon.
Had both of these for a while now, pre-order bonuses for Halo Flashpoint (I’ve only used 2 of them so far, need to really finish off atleast a Fireteam’s worth lol). They’re super vibrant and I think they came out great, wayyyy brighter than when I did my Warhammer / Halo kitbasher mini.

I’ve seen a lot of people paint these in ways I wouldn’t have done and I’m happy with how I approached em they still look like the characters from the game atleast. The Weapon (Cortana 2.0) did actually come with her own AI Chip that she’s meant to stand on, but I thought that was cool as FUCK to not just paint in its own which I plan to eventually, and gave her just a normal base.

This mini isn’t part of any ongoing project, I’ve had BadSquiddoGame’s BEAUTIFUL Ada Lovelace mini ever since it came out and had never done anything with it, recently I acquired this amazing looking umbrella piece (some earring or keychain accessory) and dug her out to have a lovely dress accompanying it. Thankfully I didn’t destroy her too much when cutting her up and reposition everything.

No matter how many times they fall in battle, they always look so pretty when the pieces are brought back together.
I saw this beautiful Tyranid army using a similar colour scheme on Reddit, cracked porcelain with gold lines filling in the gaps, and knew that would be PERFECT for some robots—I had already been considering making my own attempt at Dishonored 2’s Clockwork Soldiers (with their ceramic plates as shown in the original trailer then brought back for the DLC game), and included him in this squad.

I’m thinking I’m done with my Warhammer themed robots for now, although I’ve got my eye on some Star Wars stuff I might check out eventually, as I’ve really explored non-Humanoid designs as far as my imagination takes me with the bits I have available. Really happy to make a mirror to my darker red ones, hopefully they’ll actually be used in a game one day.

Their Lady needs protection of course, and when attending Binary Galas or Synthetics Conferences her Guard need to look their best.

I’ve immensely enjoyed this little project, and I had actually planned to add many more robots as I’ve got tons of more ideas, but I think as a posse of 5 these look pretty great as one group, and I might make more ‘bots in other groups like this—with their own leader and roles. I used up my last @anvilindustry bits here for this bash, they are the bits of resin in white, but I’ve had them laying around for literal years and realised they’re perfect for this project after I did the first one.

Just because she’s built like a war machine, doesn’t mean she has to avoid the ballroom.
Saw some cool art featuring a giant hat and realised I’ve only done a few big hats before, desperately wanted todo one and it turned into a rather elegant design in the end (thankfully, I was worried she’d end up looking like a pimp lol). I was tempted to actually paint this up with proper Mechanicus imagery, but decided to make it a little bit ambiguous so I might be able to use her as an Inquisitor and for other games.
If you’re wondering about that obscenely bright red, I used Rogue Hobbies’ signature paintset with just a contrast red over the top, created enough depth while still keeping the vibrancy of her paint. The resin pieces are some super super cool assassins from Anvil Industry

When you encounter the Six of Six in the frozen wastes of Felstad, you best hope they roll low.
I’ve done some dice themed minis before and they’re some of my favourites, I know some people have “avatar” miniatures and I’ve genuinely considered using my Dicelin for that—haven’t thought about them for a while until I found Clayton Ellison‘s AMAZING profile on Instagram of dice miniature after dice miniature scrolling all the way down, I absolutely LOVE their minis and their painting style, as I still have tons of miniature dice lying around from that old project, thought I’d give it a go. The two female minis are BadSquiddo miniatures, 3 of the others are from a game called Barons War , and the one with the executioner’s axe a friend gifted me and I have no clue where it’s from.

Kassandra-G171’s CAT5 certification, and resilience when rationing her Boosters in combat scenarios, lead to her being granted Mjolnir in-time for the Uprising—lost in the field as ships fall out of the sky and communication across the UEG is halted, Lone Wolf protocols are being enacted for as long as she can before her Gamma Berserk State takes over and cripples her brain functions.
Finally finished up one of the Spartans from Halo Flashpoint, think it could’ve been painted a lot better, but ah well I’m happy to finally have a miniature in real life for my Multiplayer Spartan—while it’s a bit of a weird scale the Frostgrave head works okayish I think. Made her a Gamma Spartan because I love Gamma Spartans, we bloody need more lore on them, surely any outside of the Academy all went insane by now right? Except for the Ferrets of course.

Some require luck, some require skill, to accomplish their mission—Masters of Chronomancy can try as many times as they like to perfect their plan.
I had actually made Chronomancers before, but they were boring stone cursed cultists, almost entirely grey (and GW scale se well), wanted to actually give myself some proper Frostgrave Chronomancers and went all out. Unfortunately they aren’t as perfect as they once were, both were very delicate and got damaged, after rebuilding them they are sturdy but sightly “off” from my vision.

Constantly dodging around groups of partygoers, these Butler Bots are some of the best lobotomised servitors this side of the sector—just about adequate their Ladyship would say.

I really enjoyed making the previous robotic miniature, and I really wanted to experiment with non-humanoid designs, while she has 3 arms the previous one does kinda look like a person. I wanted you to look at these ones and think “is THIS even a person?” and I’ll leave it up to you lol

Inquisitor Keyes and Brother John have bordered on heresy many times, but in order to save the Imperium from an all-consuming threat? standing side-by-side with the just Arbiter of The T’au is their only chance.

I have been wanting todo this kitbash for literal years, ever since I starter working on my original Warhammer X Halo Killteam, I had considered using a normal Tau mini but that was just too small for my liking—put on the backburner for maybe one day when 3d printing is way more affordable, I just make an upscale Tau—but with the release of Mantic Game‘s Halo Flashpoint I had the PERFECT mini to work with!! (I’ve got tons of Spartans now too of course, can’t wait todo something with them).

Unfortunately mid way through his armour had to be repainted, so it’s not as smooth and as nice as I had originally wanted, but atleast he looks alright on the painting side. I’m super happy with the Energy Sword, everyone I’ve seen paint this mini does the Halo Reach or 4 one, I wanted to go with the Halo 2 look and I think I nailed it.

It started with these three models which I converted from Warhammer minis into Halofied ones.

And I ended up creating a whole Kill Team of them

Here’s my Art Vs Artist for this year, I’ve done a lot of really cool minis I’m super proud of so it was actually hard to select a few, where as last year I had to pad it out lol.

This year has been really fun for my miniature hobbying, getting to become friends with a lot of people, and even being featured on 28mag’s IWD ‘zine. Felt like I’m actually part of a community where as last year I was on the fringe of it really. Got a lot of really fun projects lined up for this year, and I’m really hoping to actually go to some community events

Forgot to put this on my Tumblr, a repaint of one of my oldest miniatures from when I got in the hobby around lockdown.
Even at the time I felt I had painted it terribly compared to some of my other ‘bashes, she’s for a Palanite Gang run by an old Imperial officer and had Guard kitbashes—thought it’d be a great idea to give them a commissar, she uses her robo dog to both boost morale and to keep her subordinates from running.

The Dark Side of the Moon is nothing to fear, she does not hide in Malice she faces the Universe head on to Protect us.

While making that insanely complicated robolady kitbash, I decided to work on something simple and I drew a tarot; and got The Moon, then proceeded to build something based on that. Might do more of these if they’re particularly inspiring, thankfully this one instantly conjured ideas in my head of a Moon Protector. She’s been sat on my desk for over a month half finished, did kinda rush the painting to just finally finish this but I think it’s adequate.

After the devastating loses to Starfleet during the Klingon War, with new Gorn and Cardassian movements on the border any old ship from mothballs needs to be serviced and upgraded to replenish the fleet.
A rather time consuming Star Trek kitbash.
The concept: What If instead of having a more modern look, when they went back in the timeline with ENT they had originally gone with older model parts? Been watching Star Trek in order again recently with my sister, and jumping from Voyager to Enterprise I really feel like the ship only really looks that way because the show was made at the turn of the millennium, and if designed much earlier would have a very different design.

Painted terribly because I super struggle to paint vehicles lol, but it was super fun to do some “classic” kitbashing the way people use to actually do for the actual show.

I’m so so sorry to inform; he died a hero (was crushed behind a bookshelf)

Have considered rebuilding him, to be even more ridiculous, like for instance this was how he originally looked;

And at the time it looked utterly stupid to me but now when I’ve made even crazier kitbashes it’s honestly kinda funny
I really like Noise Marines from Warhammer, but only 1 modern model of them exists. So kitbashed a whole Kill Team of them, in some of my favourite colours :3
