ALBUM RATING!

since i’m not too into stranger things as much i was back in the summer i wanted to dive into something new! album rating! now, i’m not a critic or whatever but i randomly got 2 free months of spotify premium so i’m using my time wisely.

i was scrolling through music and remembered that Demi Lovato made a new album like last year and it was more of a rock album, something she’s haven’t really done in a while, so i was like, “why not rate it?” because i like rock and i like to talk about things sooo.

HOLY FUCK the album.

DISCLAIMER(S)

-this will be a very unbiased rating, i am not a fan of Demi and i’m not a hater, so i was just going in as someone who likes music.

-this isn’t going to be a DEEP rating and critique of the album because that takes way too long. just numbers and generalizations.

-the ratings are gonna be colored too going from purple, being the best, and red, being the worst.

going im order of the track list:

Freak(featuring Yungblud): 6/10; it’s okay…but it’s definitely supposed to be a song to advertise the album and plus i don’t like Yungblud.

Skin of my teeth: 8/10; great vocals with a great meaning, it was really fun to listen to.

Substance: 8/10; also another great song, it has a pretty strong social statement about society (joker reference).

Eat Me: 7/10; i think song was also another song that was used to advertise the album and it definitely sounds like it. it’s okay, it’s a bit better than Freak.

29: 8.5/10; talks about trauma and what she had to face when she was younger, and a lot can relate. amazing vocals and message, probably my favorite song.

Happy Ending: 7.5/10; it was okay, i actually don’t remember much about this song, if that tells anything.

Heaven: 6.7/10; speaks about how pleasuring oneself is good, which IS SO REAL, but it wasn’t the lyrics that made me not favorite this song, it was the sound of the song.

City of Angels: 7.5/10; don’t remember much about this songs either, but it had a nice sound so.

Bones: 6.7/10; it’s honestly a nice song but definitely not at the time for me, had a nice SOPHIE type-beat moment at the end so that was cool.

Wasted: 8/10; nice lyrics, great sound and i just liked it a lot. (could you tell that i don’t remember this song well either?)

Come Together: 6/10; THIS SONG DEFINITELY HAS A DOUBLE MEANING! lyrics were okay, sound wasn’t my taste either.

Dead Friends: 7/0; a genuine sweet song about their dead friends, kinda reminiscing, i loves it.

Help me(featuring Dead Sara): 8/10; GREAT SONG! i love the sound of this song! it was so fun and had great vocals coming from Demi and Dead Sara. this is also a song i favorite on this album.

Feed: 7.7/10; a good song, lyrics were a bit cringe (im not even going to lie!) and it had an okay sound, vocals killed as usual though.

and last but not least….

4 EVER 4 ME: 8/10; a slower love song, something Demi KILLS in, and it was amazing. also in my top 3 from this album. i was eating up the vocals, yes yes!

OVER ALL: 7.5/10

it was a decent album! like nothing can really be “perfect” and i wasn’t expecting this album to be, but i wasn’t disappointed! i would definitely re-listen to a couple of song from this album, even added some to my playlist too, so i would recommend giving a listen.

they dived more into a old-rock and punk sound WITHOUT sounding too overproduced! it was refreshing as much of modern punk and rock is very overproduced and doesn’t have that authentic feel to the songs anymore.

lyrics weren’t cringe either! no, “i’m in spain, without the s”, no horrible twisted version of a nursery rhyme, everything sounded like it was coming from them and had some personality. lyrics: 8/10

-fashion and aesthetics: like i said, i love everything to do with clothes, makeup, hair, and accessories. same with aesthetics, they’re just cool

-games: well, im not a huge “gamer” (🤓) but i do love old games and the history behind them even more soo

-late history and internet history: the last few decades of time and of the internet is pretty interesting.

-MUSIC: i love music! without music idk where id be today, it just keeps me going. my favorite genre is alternative, things like punk, rock, and pop-punk are a lot of what i listen to. i am also a HUGE fan of k-pop, especially bts. (please i’m not cringe, their music is just good and the boys are pretty) rap is also a huge one too, so i guess you could say i like everything.

-acting/ theatre: i do theatre myself and it’s one of the best things i’ve ever done! as a someone who wants to act and make movies in the future i just love theatre!

-humans: humans are very interesting and pretty. might go into people studies in the future 🤔

max, will, lucas, dustin, eleven >>> mike ANY DAY

so we all agree "mike wheeler is the heart of the group" is bullshit, right?

we all agree that it is will byers instead right?

in season 1, everyone banded together (and found el) to find will.

in season 2, will was more than happy about max joining the party. but guess who wasn't? mike wheeler.

in season 2, everyone worked together to help will.

in season 3, mike was literally going away from his friend group to make out with el at all given times.

in season 3, we saw will being the only one who stayed till the very end when dustin returned because he missed his friend.

in season 3, will just wanted all of his friends to spend time TOGETHER (because let's be real, will would've been so happy just doing whatever, not only d&d, as long as all six of them were together. just look at how excited he was when they all were about to leave for the hill)

in season 3, will let go of his very rightful anger towards his friends who kept ignoring what he had to say, because he thinks it's for the betterment of the group.

in season 3, will is even willing to let go of his own interests (playing D&D) if it meant his friends would still spend time with him whenever he returned to hawkins next.

in season 4, max, lucas, dustin and mike are literally falling apart because they're all too into their heads (and i don't really blame them here - especially not lucas and max). mike and dustin weren't even that supportive of lucas joining basketball when his reasons of doing so were extremely valid.

in season 4, mike is quite literally having relationship problems with el by not being able to say "i love you" (and the confession scene doesn't seem to have done much either because why is el still not talking to him at the end?)

in season 4, will brushes aside his own feelings for mike and instead focuses on helping mike and el get back together because he loves them both dearly and he just wants to see them happy together.

in season 4, mike only really confesses after will byers pushes him to. shouldn't it have been mike's instinct which "really kicked in" when he sees his loved one is in danger?

will byers is the heart of the group and fuck whoever wrote those scenes because you don't even know your characters at this point.

dustin held eddie while he bled to death. lucas had to watch max's bones snap. will and robin had to watch people they were in love with be in love with someone else. outcasts don't get happy endings. queers do not get happy endings. that is ultimately the message stranger things has left me with.

i need to rant.

i feel so sick when i see people mourning eddie death. i understand that his death was sad and extremely not needed whatsoever but people are crying over his death that meant so little.

i get it, eddie is a comfort character to a lot of viewers but it’s so irritating to see someone sit and cry over his death when lucas and max had a much sadder story.

as a black person it did NOT sit with me right about the way they handled lucas’s and max’s situation. max gets vecna’d right in front of lucas’s eyes, and he just watches with no way to help her because of jason. OH AND JASON. him and lucas were literally fighting for whatever reason meaning that lucas got all types of beat up trying to save max.

AND OMG ERICA. she was getting beat up in the front of the house FOR WHAT!? and by the time she gets set free she’s too late and max has already been vecna’d. I JUST OMG.

fast forward to the hospital, and max is laying there on her death bed, in a fukin coma, and lucas is sitting there with a black eye, not knowing if she’ll wake up. erica is sitting in a chair just watching it all, knowing she couldn’t do anything before vecna got max.

i just felt so sick to my stomach. and yes eleven and them come to the hospital and hug and talk, but then just in up leaving them in the hospital! and now i’m worried for them, not knowing if they’ll make it, because vecna’s right around the corner.

AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON WILL. i’ve seen a lot more people talk about wills story which is great because OMG. his boarderline confession to mike was then used to build up mikes and els relationship. like what the hell. and they just kinda gloss over it at the end. AND I EXPECTED A COME OUT SCENE BUT OFC I WAS DISAPPOINTED, ITS THE DUFFERS😭

what makes eddie different than any other white character on the show? oh, that’s he’s a ‘freak’ or a weirdo? one haircut and a style change, and he’s the same guy as steve. it just makes me so mad to see people cry over his death when he was meant to get killed off!! that’s what shows do, they introduce characters so they can kill them off. not saying you can’t get connected to a character, but when there’s bigger and worse things happening in the show it’s just annoying to see people cry over a character that was destined for a kill off in the first place.

when there’s other characters getting treated or have been treated worse than eddie, to me it’s just lowkey insensitive when people disregard those characters to cry over a dude in a leather jacket.

i expected to see a lot more uproar about lumax, erica, will, and maybe even hopper BUT NOOOO.

i love eddie but i wouldn’t go crying about him on anywhere because it was so expected. and i hate that they use the fact that he died to point out bad writing. LIKE THERES WAY BIGGER AND BADDER WRITING HAPPENING IN THE SHOW!!

like no duh, they’re bad writers…the actors basically had to rewrite the script this season because it was so bad. mike wheeler is the epitome of bad writing in the show.

i just wish people would open their eyes and see that there’s bigger problems then a dude in a leather jacket dying.
