I truly did not expect it to have the amount of weight it does. Percy, walking over and snorting: Oh. It's Medusa's head. Triton: Her... head. Percy: Because I sent them her head when I went on my first quest and they sent it back so I gave it to my mom to get rid of my first stepdad. Triton, nodding: Oh, that makes se- Triton: ... Triton, carefully setting the box down and turning to his brother: You sent the gods Medusa's head?! Percy: ... Triton: Perseus! What were you thinking? Do you even know how...

Percy: Triton, please, I get it. You can stop yelling. Triton: And another thing-!

The Balance of Magic

So for those of you who are currently following No Cut Strings; yes, I am still writing it. The next chapter is currently half-written seeing as I'm doing Medusa and Zeus as the reader... let's just say it's a lot more difficult to get the tone I want. So when I start to get a little overwhelmed with it I tend to write a one shot... this is not one.

This is a HP rewrite starting right after third year. It is Dumbles bashing, some weasley bashing, hermione bashing, good slytherins, and a lot of other things. The tone for this fic is going to be monumentally different than No Cut Strings so I hope it travels. I'm wanting to set things up as an alternating update pattern. I'll update No Cut Strings and then this one and then No cut strings and so on.

The Plot

Grover, watching Annabeth pace: What's her issue? Percy, shrugging: I don't know. She just saw that I got straight A's on my report card. Grover, shocked: Straight A's?! Percy, nodding: No one was more surprised than me... well, maybe she was. Annabeth, muttering: I'm losing the plot. Percy: I lost the plot years ago, Annie. Annabeth, glaring: Straight A's?!?! Percy, muttering to Grover: Wait until she finds out Leo fakes it.

Poseidon: Son! What were you thinking?! Percy, well aware he's about to be grounded: Uh... Poseidon, angry his son doesn't think about himself: Perseus, I'm sorry but I have no choice. You are- Percy: Immortal. Poseidon, staring him down: Wha-? Percy, smiling: It was the price I paid with the Fates. Poseidon, launching at his son and forgetting how much trouble he was just in: MY SON! YES! MY SON!

Hello! I just finished reading No Strings Cut and found out you had both a Tumblr and a discord server. Even though I tend to just lurk and stay in the background, I wanted to join if only to see if it was a place I would like to hang out in. Unfortunately the link you shared in a post recently doesn't work anymore (when clicked, it says that it might have expired). Do you have a new link I (as well as others like me) could use?

Outside of this, you have an AMAZING story. I'm extremely happy with how it's written so far. Something to consider possibly addressing at some point in the future - does the "no harming the mortals" rule the fates made also include the deities, both present and future, after they've broken said rule and been turned mortal? And does the rule only apply to those who are directly (actively?) attempting to harm them, like what Zeus and Hera did? Or will it also include those who indirectly attempt to harm them, like what it looks like Athena is attempting to do? You don't have to answer any of that in this post, as I'm sure that any answers you give could include potential spoilers or might not have been something you had considered just yet, but still. I figured I'd bring it up as something you could include in a future chapter.

Oh! And if I remember correctly, it seems like some demigods that died at some point might be added to the list. Would (or could) Sally be considered as a potential person to add too? I know she's not dead but so far, we've seen some issues that she's had that, while almost certainly unintentional, could be some stuff she could learn from if it was brought to her attention. Clearly, at least from Percy's point of view (and the point of view of most others), Sally loves Percy and would never harm him intentionally. That doesn't mean it's not possible. And given the fact that Percy is generally on a journey of healing, even if mostly unwilling depending on certain topics (Gabe), this would probably be something he could also use some healing from. It's definitely something a therapist would be trying to teach him, like what his friends were trying to do in earlier chapters.

Anyways, once again, great story! I loved it!!! (Thinking about this now, I probably should leave this as a comment on the story but I'm already here, lol). All the love to you and the story 💙💙💙

in regards to the questions on the harming mortal aspect of the story… 🙂‍↕️i have no comment. I have thought it out and do have a good set of rules and how it works in a separate doc so… spoilers?

I don’t know if I’ll bring Sally into the story for a minute, but I do know I’ll definitely add her by book four. I know she’s usually seen as the best mom but she made plenty of mistakes and I ain’t sugar coating it. I’ve been trying to figure out the best time to bring her in because it is mostly about his realizing she isn’t perfect. If she’s brought in now versus the fourth book or later he’ll fall into the “my mom is perfect” mindset instead of “my mom is mortal” one I’m working towards.

Annabeth, sitting a row away: You could have asked Nico. Percy: Nico was sleeping. I don't have time for his to try and kill me first. Annabeth: But you have time to go on a 9 hour flight?
