I had this convo in my head all day - but when the tone gets lighter either in season 9 or maybe hopefully a season 10 or 11

The 118 plays a game called - who has almost died the most? Now the obvious answer is of course-

"Me." Chimney answers instantly already popping a snack into his mouth at the table.

"Uh, what about me?" Eddie asks. "Unless we're only counting on the clock."

"Yes-" Buck points. "We're ONLY counting on duty, and it's not you Chim."

"What? I got a piece of rebar stuck in my skull!"

"Off the clock you did." Hen reminded him. "Okay, what about me? Three times on the clock."

"Name them." Buck challenged, but he already knows who the winner is going to be.

"Okay, you got the bank incident, you got the bridge incident, and you got the other lab incident."

"Does the bridge count though? That was just a concussion."

"All of us almost died that time." Hen clairifed. "You said almost, not in critical condition."

"Okay so that makes me, bridge incident, lab incident, stuck in the vent with that one super contagious guy, and... oh come, we're really not counting the rebar? What about the time that Doug stabbed me?"

"Not on the clock! That puts Hen and Chim tied for three, and Eddie last with two."

"Mm. Three." Eddie held up his fingers as he counted; "Bridge, drowned, shot."

"True," Buck pointed, suddenly putting this on a whiteboard? "Hen is dead last. no pun intended, Eddie and Chim tied with three and... Buck is the winner!"

"Woah woah woah," Chim began.

"Says who?" Eddie asked.

"Easy. Held at gunpoint with Eddie,"

"Four then." Eddie nodded.

"And held at gunpoint with that naked lady on the billboard, crushed by a firetruck-"

Hen opened her mouth to compete before Buck interrupted:

"Which caused blood clots leading to blood thinners and choking on my own blood, struck by lightning which actually killed me for three minutes, and a tsunami."

Silence fills the 118 kitchen/lounge and it's Ravi who breaks the quiet tie and bubbling tension; "Buck wins."

Hen was the big sister before Maddie was introduced— indirectly getting Buck his job back in Ep. 1

Buck’s holding onto Hen’s arm when he collapses after seeing Christopher is still alive

He makes Hen laugh with the video of the guy in the car wash

Hen being the only one not to pretend not to be listening when they all eavesdrop on Buck becoming a sp*rm donor - not to mention her and Buck get drunk together when they talk about this decision Buck is making

Buck and Hen kiss under the mistletoe (PLATONICALLY)

DID YOU SEE HER FACE WHEN BUCK INDIRECTLY CAME OUT AS BI? GIRL SHE KNEW

When Buck is the only firefighter not out of commission from the bridge collapse, he goes to get Hen from the drivers seat and she instantly wipes the blood from his face/nose

She jokes with him, she takes care of him, he’s sweet to her gentle with her— they are so so adorable together I wish I PRAY we get to see more of them partnered up in season 9 (even if Eddie is probs going to replace Chim as a paramedic)

Yes, Hen and Chimney are perfect

Buck and Eddie are made for each other

For my fellow buddie shippers who have totally given up here’s my theory for season 9 since they supposedly are ready to write Buck in a stable relationship and have him settle down with someone

Because as much as I want it to be: I don’t think it’s gonna be with Eddie.

Here’s how it’s gonna go, season 9: Buck finds his new apartment FINALLY after non-seen episodes of him possibly sleeping on Eddie’s couch. He’s moving in when suddenly a big fluffy golden retriever - Buck is instantly in love with this dog it’s friendly, jumps up on him, it’s like love at first sight but with a dog.

Then the dog’s owner jogs up- it’s a guy, tall and ginger, and he’s like “Sorry about him, Goldie just loves meeting new people.”

Buck, who of course has a thing for gingers let’s be honest, instantly attracted to this guy. “It’s fine. I love dogs… you named your golden retriever Goldie?”

“Yeah, hah, I know it’s not very creative but he responds to it. I’m [insert character name here], we were just heading back from our walk and he got away from me.”

“I’m Buck, you uh, you live here?” In this huge shared apartment building.

And the guy is like “Yea, do you?”

“Yeah I just moved in.”

They talk more, surprise they actually live right next door to each other and it ends with “we should get a drink or have dinner sometime”

AND the writers, just to really push they’ll never get together, Eddie LOVES this guy- he thinks Buck and him are perfect together and we see Eddie for the first time ever act as a wingman.

For all my Bucktommy fans out there.

There’s a 50% THIS happens and a 50% chance they get back together.

So, For my other TADC theorists

This is evident that Caine was lying about having control over the character’s minds. If he was lying unintentionally or intentionally hard to say. Jax gets turned vegan(I did see someone say that this was only possible because Zooble spoke it into existence and Caine did it because Zooble said so…? I don’t think that’s the case personally)

Ragatha gets hit with the stupid sauce and gets drunk/high

And the one no one brought up from what I saw, Pomni gets possessed by an NPC. Caine creates the NPCs by the way(I’m 90% sure), at least he creates the adventures they appear in, and Pomni isn’t herself in this scene obviously and she kNOWS STUFF THAT ONLY AN NPC? OR CAINE?? COULD KNOW ABT KINGERS WIFE

Pomni was aware she was possessed but not of what she said? Or was saying?

But unless this was an NPC Kinger has seen before, which he didn’t seem to remember anyhow, the only person who could know of Kinger’s wife in the circus is the AI, Caine.So, this brings up many questions. If Caine can control minds, it’s safe to assume he can control their memories.

As when Pomni panics about her name—

Caine tells her that no one can remember their name when they enter the circus, followed up by saying:

Which is countered in later episodes. It could be true though, maybe he can control their minds but not their names? And only their names?? Which feels doubtful and yet he still helps Pomni come up with a new one and never slips up if he did know their real names..

Regardless, if he does control memories or how people behave(which he seems to control behavior and mindsets) - COULD HE POSSIBLY,, BE PREVENTING KINGER FROM REMEMBERING IMPORTANT INFORMATION??

Everyone remembers everything from their old lives except their names, the exception being Kinger. Who has been here for so long he reportedly has gone insane and only remembers well in darkness. The only thing he seems to truly recall is his time with his wife and seven years working in Computer Science - which means for us theorists he has the most connection to the game than anyone else because he probably worked on it, compared to the others who are implied to have stumbled upon the headset connected to the game in abandoned houses or buildings. Of course, we still have no idea how Gangle or Jax found their way into the circus.

But without targeting Kinger too much, there's still something Gooseworx had answered in their asks that bothered me? The question was "Out of everyone who deserves to be in the circus to most?" Like it was hell of some kind - and ofc they said Jax, which yeah. Makes sense. But even then, how did Jax get here??? How did Gangle get here???

AND IF Kinger had worked on the game that is the Digital Circus firsthand, is Caine preventing him from remembering important details about the game? If so, why? Would Kinger know how to leave? And if he even does why didn't he the second he put on the headset?

WHAT DO YOU, THE VIEWERS THINK???

Also one final theory I wanna lock in: Since it's at least confirmed to have nine episodes total and after ep. 6 we don't know who or what the next episode will be centered around I have a guess Episode 7: Kaufmo Episode 8: Caine Episode 9: Leaving the circus? Or accepting their fate in what is essentially hell

Anyway-

I wanna move back to ranting about my sole strongest head over heels fictional crush of all time:

I am severely in love with her-

But anyway I wanted to point out how Zoey is unintentionally(?) such an intricate character who probably went the through the most and maybe only character development between seasons

I think Zoey’s development from Revenge of the Island to All Stars goes remotely unnoticed and is instead downplayed to her being a “Mary Sue”

Firstly, this has to do with her insane skills she demonstrates in the All Stars season, like we all forgot Commando Zoey made a bow and arrow out of tree branches and almost killed Scott because she decided to lock in.

Besides her skills being ignored simply because she is just a girl— it’s mostly her character development we as the audience don’t get to witness, by this I mean how Zoey suddenly gained a sense of confidence in herself.

In ROTI she was always: “if it’s okay with you guys!” “Be honest… unless you hate it” “Unless that’s what people are saying about me-“ “Oh, you like me right?” Zoey was very insecure about not just her social skills and personality but most likely about her capabilities as well.

(Which is why I think she volunteers to be the gunner for the seagulls, because she knows she’s good at aiming— or at least she thinks she’s good at it. Unless other people don’t think so, they she won’t try.)

Something happens between seasons where she’s also dating Mike, most likely stayed in touch with Cameron, and probably trained herself for the next season she’d be featured in. I think dating Mike is probably what helped her the most with her social skills— Zoey seems much more sure of herself and more importantly the others when she’s seen on screen.

Being especially nice to Duncan despite him being a juvenile delinquent, promising to keep Courtney’s secret, and calming Gwen down easily in the caves, also avoiding Alejandro’s advances(she’s so loyal to Mike I love her) If you put Zoey and Gwen together but it was the Zoey from ROTI they’d both be panicking.

I like to imagine the breathing technique she uses on Gwen is something she consistently tried or did with Mike when and if he ever experienced a panic attack. Being with someone like him probably opened her mind to people with different kinds of disorders or even mental conditions like his—

If the writers didn’t maybeee miswrite or do whatever the hell they did to All Stars, Zoey AND CAMERON would’ve most likely been geniuses when it came to mental health and mental disorders.

There's a lot more to her as well personally - but most of it continues to be speculation and headcanons that I have about the character. If you're interested hmu

for all my ragatha haters out there

I am not one of them

I love Ragatha - in fact I'm a firm believer if you hate Ragatha.. you kind of have to hate Jax too. I can understand where potential confusion might come from since despite this episode focusing more on Ragatha's past compared to Jax's we do get to hear most of it through Jax's perspective. Which leads me to believe personally ep. 6 will be the opposite. Jax's backstory and how Ragatha will react to that information.

But still, Ragatha is one of the most human characters out of the whole cast(tied with Gangle) to me personally. She feels the need to be happy and positive NOT BECAUSE she's trying to manipulate anyone - but because she doesn't want anyone to focus on the negative and abstract. That's her method of keeping herself and everyone else sane. Almost blind encouragement and a positive attitude things will turn out okay - because what else is there?

She seems the closest to Kinger whose whole mentality is "The worst thing you could do in this world is make someone feels unloved or unwanted." and to hold onto memories and connections because they're all we have.

And then you have her mother - who is her only memory. She grew up with someone who made her feel like shit, unloved and unwanted - Ragatha confesses this when she literally says "And my mother... I doubt she misses me."

No Ragatha is not perfect, but she was forced to be in her childhood and early adult life.

I genuinely don't believe she's trying to manipulate anyone - and especially not intentionally.

Ragatha's positive attitude towards Pomni and her friendliness is because she sees herself in the jester - in Ep. 2 Ragatha confides in Kinger about this on the candy truck, seeing how horrible of a day Pomni had when she first got here and compared it to her negative reaction when she first arrived too. She's not trying to steal her from Jax or force her to be happy all the time - the only reason she retaliates with something like that is because she believes Jax is trying to turn Pomni bad - and the last thing she or anyone needs is a second Jax.

So her jealously in Ep. 5 when Jax is growing close to her - IN THE MATTER OF A FEW MINUTES BTW - when Ragatha has tried for four episodes now to befriend her is killing her.

Hence why she's so relatable. Ragatha's inability to get angry without consequences(most likely from her mother), raised to be happy and perfect, humbling herself quickly by calling herself just a farm girl - is why people now think she's tricking everyone - but that's just it. She is just a girl, and by the sound of her and how Ep. 5 ended - she grew up with absolutely no friends.

It brings us back to that question we all had at some point in our lives: "Why does no one like me?" "Why does no one want to be friends with me?" "Is it me?" "Am I the problem?"

Ragatha watches Pomni, the girl she wanted to befriend so badly not out of pity or a selfish desire but because she thought Pomni was lonely just like her - walk away with Jax. And then watches Zooble and Gangle walk off with Kinger mindlessly following because he doesn't care and we see her standing all alone.

And there she debates: Does she want to keep pestering Jax and Pomni? Like a bother? Like she finds him annoying but here she is anyway chasing after him..

or does she follow the trio that didn't even realize she got left behind?

I love this little Raggedy Anne look-alike because I see so much of myself in her. She just wants to be good and yet that overly positive attitude and friendliest over the years is growing tired and annoying and the only person willing to tell her that isn't even Jax. Not directly anyway. With no one to tell her what to do - how to improve - what can be done differently - Ragatha can only keep asking herself those same questions and keep trying with the same approach.

Jax may be my favorite character - but I just don't agree with his view on Ragatha. I think she's a delight.

But if you deadass just hate Ragatha because she's annoying to you, or boring, then okay idc disregard the above-

AND ANOTHER THING—-

More digital circus stuff beware:

I wanna talk about this scene- because many people use this as Ragatha being mean to Jax intentionally and bringing up his abstracted friend.

Except RIGHT AFTER she says this Ragatha quickly backtracks and goes “oh, Oh wait no! Uh, I’m sorry— I wasn’t talking about— that wasn’t meant to be—“ before she runs away.

Sputtering out how she wasn’t talking about Jax’s friend.

The thing is: I believe her.

It’s how she said “I wasn’t talk about [them]” and “That wasn’t meant to be [about them]” — the [ ] being what I assume she was going to say.

I genuinely don’t think Ragatha was trying to make a jab about that abstracted member because we’ve seen Ragatha get upset about past abstracted circus members before, like in Kaufmo’s funeral despite not getting along with him all the time she still cried and mourned him.

There’s truly no reason she would bring up a potentially really painful memory just to spite Jax, as she said in episode 4: “Hey… I like… hate you? But I don’t want you to hate me. Is that weird?”

Now what was she trying to say? Well to me the tone of voice and the way she looked away— not even intentionally gazing at Pomni— goes “Not anymore” implies she’s not talking about anyone else, but talking about herself.

It’s giving like “Not anymore since I’m not trying to befriend you anymore.” Or “Not anymore since I realize you never change/don’t care”

Although Ragatha does have a very minor habit of almost speaking for others but never to put words in their mouths, in fact every time she does something similar is usually to talk down Jax- like when they talk both Gangle and Ragatha says “maybe she doesn’t want to be friends with someone whose mean to her all the time!”

I truly don’t think she was talking about/for gangle when she said those things- it really did sound like it was coming from her. Purely uncensored personal thoughts about her just finally giving up on Jax’s friendship. EDIT: The only thing that truly debunks this is when Ragatha apologizes to Jax for "bringing up that thing earlier" but again. I don't believe she was actually talking about the frog character - I think Ragatha just felt the need to apologize to Jax because she's been thinking about how she offended him since that moment.

TADC EP 5 SPOIELRS AGAIN!!!!!

Now that I’m rewatching the episode I’d like to put in my two cents on the mannequin theory.

I’ll be straight up about it: I think it’s Kaufmo.

OR more minorly I think someone whose partially in the game- someone who hasn’t been registered by the system yet observing those who have

Like someone who is able to exit the Circus/is able to take off the headset, observing the people trapped inside trying to study them or figure out how to save them.

But mostly I think it’s Kaufmo.

Unless you look at gooseworx’s tumblr page where they will occasionally reveal old members of the circus like Queenie and Ribbit And that one time Queenie was mentioned not by name specifically- but indirectly mentioned Point is, only Kaufmo is mentioned by name, by physical image, and we get a briefing on his personality as well. Kaufmo who set up the whole find the exit of the show, as well as how a crazy goes insane here and how it’s probably the closest thing to death there is.

Of course, we never see Kaufmo other than a portrait or drawings before he abstracts - so what if that’s him? What if Kaufmo found a way out of the cellar with the others and it just kind of reset him?

Either way, I have a feeling since Ep 6 is also a Ragatha and Jax centric episode - episode 7 is either going to be about this mysterious character OR it's going to be abt Kaufmo.

And while I'm on the subject of theories -

I briefly mentioned how everyone got to be in the circus in my last post but I want to reiterate my number one theory abt Jax and that is - (no longer that he is a NPC but) that Jax in real life is ill.

Let me elaborate: I have a running gag with some friends Jax's yellow eyes and teeth are a jaundice thing - but now that I'm really thinking about it - a bunny character?

Jax has already mentioned his love that of his avatar, he likes his ears and is genuinely upset to find that he lost his tail in one of the past adventures(I think he lost it when his friend Ribbit abstracted) but there's something else.

Bunny characters always have buck teeth - and yet Jax doesn't.

Now of course, I think he looks waaaay better without that usual rabbit teeth and love his expressions more than any other character - he is the most expressive and the most amusing -

But WHY yellow teeth?

Am I reading too much into this? Absolutely,

But anyhow my solid theory is primarily based off Jax's yellow facial features AND the backstory he choses to lie about. I know he's referencing a show(I think its breaking bad if memory serves) when he mentions having lung cancer - but why that show specifically? Because it's dark, violent, and its a meme now?

It's such a weird opening for Jax to start with him being sick - having lung cancer.

Of course I don't think he has lung cancer - but my theory essentially is: Jax willingly put on the headset to escape into this circus BECAUSE he has a life threatening illness of some kind. Jax knew he was dying, wasn't happy that maybe his illness prevented him from doing physical activities with his friends and when he heard of a world where he can't die or get injured - he was all for it.

Because so far? Jax seems to be the only character who doesn't care that he's trapped in here. Everyone has expressed some distaste for it, Ragatha missing her horses, Pomni and Zooble missing their old bodies and/or lives, Gangle upset she couldn't follow her art dreams(? AGAIN IDK WHY GANGLE IS HERE SHES THE ONLY OUTLIER), Kinger missing his wife but hes too far gone to remember any of the good bits but i defo dont think hes happy to be here- esp considering his wife is dead.

to sum it up:

The mannequin is Kaufmo

and Jax has a life threatening illness outside of the circus - which could also explain why Ragatha's sweet "you can do it! its all gonna be okay!" attitude bothers him so much because he remembers being told that so many times in the hospital

But thats just a theory, a

FOLLOW UP EDIT/THEORY:

DONT FORGET- theres also the "worst thing Jax has ever done" that we will "see with our very eyes"

I used to think it was Jax causing one of the main cast to abstract

but what if it's not

What if it was something Jax doesn't do - but something he did

I think Jax caused his only friend(Ribbit) to abstract. And we'll be seeing a flashback of that.
