Sinking Secrets - Oni Nuru

While the sand stings and waters wave.

I’d never walk away.

The potent calm of the sea’s song

could hold me here all day.

I’m throwing stones to watch them skip, a world away from me.

Beneath the cool and calming base the sunlight dives down deep.

My secrets are the stones I pray the sea will always keep.

Fear

I’ve seen something disturbing. A ghastly sight.

It tugged my heart. And stole sleep for night.

I wish I could un-see it. But I know that I cannot.

It’s this simple truth. That’s got me so distraught.

Body sticky with sweat. Trembling in this random instance.

I try to ignore the presence in the distance.

Creaking of the floor. Flickering lights.

Someone, please help me. Survive this fright.

Watered Hearts

My love come meet me out by the grass.

Its softness can calm us from the fight we’ve just had.

Walk with me a little, down by the pond.

Where we can discuss our ripples or choose to move on.

Rushing noises from our souls tell tears to come hither.

In midst of our battle, we’d come across a river.

Streams of solutions unfold as we revise and restate.

For things to renew they sometimes have to break.

Hearts hurting but healing.

Letting doubts free.

We’re walking through the trenches.

To make it to the sea.

Untimed

Shyly he stepped And asked her to dance.

He tingles in fear Awaiting rejection to his advance.

Despite his ill thoughts She accepted his hand.

Then walked towards the floor As the music began.

It started off slowly and then grew fast. Blush crept up her cheeks as she built up a laugh.

Upon the song's end, they went off in sadness.

There lay a spark but society would scream madness.

Still, he turned and ran to her side encased her hand together they’d fly.

How dare you know love from one simple dance? Asked the negative voices inside of their heads.

How dare you say we must time our hearts Spending years on faux love that could tear us apart.

And right you are true, love is a blessing. No matter the time or place it is set in.

Beyond the Sky

Beyond the sky, past feathered wisps, I found my soul a home.

When stars explode, a solar kiss I watch from upon my throne.

A sheet of universe colorful and vast far from paper thin, thoughts and acts upon this earth that keep us bound within.

True beauty and secrets lie in the place where time stops nor starts.

An invisible cord connected to our breathing lungs and beating hearts.

Beyond the sky lies the fountain of youth the origin where we began. The base of life, love , and strife the unknown wonderland.

Cake

Oh dear, I’ve done it. I’ve made a mistake.

I’ve stolen a piece Of this chocolate cake.

It wasn’t mine at all. Not a slice to my name.

And now that I’m eating. I'm filled up with shame.

If someone comes I could hide. But they’d know it was me.

For I am the only one here Who enjoys cake with a bit of tea.

I don’t know why I took it. I suppose I couldn’t resist.

Despite the consequences ahead. It was truly delish.

Vows

Though I’ve been through tribulations That would snap a soul in two.

The only thing that pains me. Is the thought of losing you.

It would start out like a hug. comforting and then

Crush against my chest draining all my wind.

I don’t know how you do it. Captivate me this way.

Your everything is so lovely. I could never walk away.

Your eyes were made of comets. Lips of silk and pink rose.

Hands composed of velvet. A touch to curl my toes.

With all of this aside i’m rendered blind by what you have inside.

A colorful, creative, loving, and ultimately beautiful mind.

Dear Friend

Is it odd to say I love you? Even though we’re only friends.

Although we are not intimate. In our hearts is a spot for each of us to stand.

I don't think of you as a lover. But the world may disagree.

For some, it’s hard to swallow and even harder to believe.

That I could have a friend A different gender from me.

Your support has kept me up. On days I longed to cry.

I laugh with you so easily. Darker days begin to shine.

Together we walk and hold out through any pains.

Together we’d settle through issues and shame.

I'm more open to trust, the thought used to be insane.

A certain part of me has changed. And you’re the blame.

Every word that I wrote I swear to be true.

Little Bugs

Our problems don't pick up themselves.

These bugs attack our solemn shells. In hopes that we would quit.

So they can rejoice and say that we failed.

It may feel tiny it does look small. But these things are known to grow large after all.

Find the source where eggs truly lie. Destroy the nest. It could be hidden inside.

Planted by people who were less than true. Or planted by denial starting with you.

There is a problem here Do not neglect.

Examine the bugs in your life Then begin to reflect.

What was the cause and how did they get here?

Was the time they arrived far or near? From the place, you’d had your recent most battle

Or over time in depths of your troublesome shadows.

The bugs have come.

Wet Builder

How do you forget a raindrop? When each one makes a sound.

I suppose it must be easy When rainbows come around.

Taken with their beauty You seem not to care.

All the raindrops that fell To put the image there.

They double as tears So assume they were hurt.

That you watched them while planning To milk them for what they were worth.

You can’t forget a raindrop. The sound echoes in your head.

You can only choose To ignore them instead.

Earth

The rain falls from the sky, a million heartbeats hydrated. Mother nature’s gifted tears.

We’ve been protected all this time. But disregard everything that is here.

Why is such a bright beauty abused? Every day seems to bring a new monetary muse.

The people are blind and I’m simply confused. There will be no more to take if we continue to use.

If taken in moderation the tree’s will still grow. If taken with education that growth will slow.

Taken when needed the wildlife will flourish. But we take with such greed from the lives that help nourish.  

The damage that’s done can be reversed and erased. If we educate ourselves and slow the pace.

In which we take what we do not need.

For Earth to be saved one must plant the seeds.

Salem Eyes

In the distance, screams are heard But even when they fade the cackles continue.

The air is filled with a sickly scent. Arising from the town’s center.

When all should be tucked away inside They stand out in the dead of winter.

Rattling chains resemble the wind. Cold metal cuffs mold to the skin.

No one, except her, is silent as those bare feet walk.

It does no good to cry nor to scream or plead. So no words set forth themselves despite her need.

And now it’s time to take a step. She prays that someone feels a pang of regret.

The scowls of the crowd show that hasn’t happened yet.

She’s asked if there are any final words. But the flames ablaze before she can decide.

Not a lick of skin has a place to hide. Tied tight to her death with wild eyes.

She’s screams and squirms as she burns alive.

The cackling is louder and so are their cheers.

Flames consumed the innocent. And the guilty led them here.

In Spring

Spring has come. A watery gift.

Flowers even bloom If the sun permits.

Throughout the days. Of light and dark.

The world has changed. Time has warmed its heart.

Grass is now greener Moods are less blue.

The sky is a fusion . Of pink and purple hues.

Wind blows calmy Chimes sing a tune.

Winter has passed. And not a second too soon.

Warden

Warden are you worried That your thoughts will start to stray?

In a hole this dark They would never find a way.

Warden are you worried? About the weakened bars on the cells?

The bars were weakened by flame Derived from the pits of hell.

Warden, can’t you notice  things are starting to break free?

If these things are emotions I’ve locked them deep inside of me.

Warden, now I'm worried what is it that you fear?

Allowing myself to love then being cast back here.

Warden do explain for I am confused.

It’s here that I hold on To the pieces, I couldn’t afford to lose.

Dark Touch

In the sunset I see you gleaming. An artwork of bronze.

Thick hair full and streaming Full of roots from the gods.

Curious eyes of aged amber. Deathly and sweet.

Sculpted of chocolate Ridges that run deep.

If I could speak. I’d beg for your touch.

Skin blushed with heat From the physical rush.

And so the journey begins. See for yourself

These years will shape you Into someone else.

Hopefully, you’re happy You paid to try

To gather the knowledge That pushes you from behind.

May the years be filled with laughter And play.

Times of serious focus And study all day.

When it comes to a close the lights will shine bright.

Gowns flowing gracefully Practiced steps just right.

You’ll speak your piece with peace of mind. That paper cards have charted the time.

Dreams are reachable. Yours and mine.

Of Thought and Joy

Those eyes are windows And words were keys.

Unlocking a world Where you are all you wish to be.

Unbelievable you must think. But believe you must.

Your thoughts are your mood. You can change it if you can trust

Everything will be alright If you aid to make it so.

Walk with eyes upwards To reflect the joy you wish to know.
