Canon!Solangelo isn’t just bad. It’s outright ludicrous even as a narrative concept. What do you mean, Nico, a well-fleshed character with so much potential gets to be with some random nothing burger of a character?

Especially when more interesting dynamics Jasico (in terms of chemistry and narrative parallels) and Valdangelo (in terms of potential and character parallels) were right there?! Be fr y’all…

Nico had an amazing (potential) support system in place: Reyna, Hazel, Coach Hedge, Jason. But at the end of BoO (and transiting to ToA), Richard strips him of this potential support system; they all eventually shift away while Nico is stuck at Camp Halfblood , a place with which a part of his unprocessed trauma is tied to.

Instead of having him move away, close to his support system and allow him to heal from (and process) all the trauma, Richard has him stay back at Camp in the most unconvincing twist ever, all for a gratuitous romance with a yellow maypole (who also happens to be a paper flat character); this also butchers his character in the process.

Tell me now, how is this a happy ending I’m supposed to root for?
