wow! it's an oc!

let's meet mirasol you guys!!

so...i guess i should yap or something

mirasol comes from the planet earth, which the rest of the cosmic quilt calls "terrania." she lives in the small town of alphar, where supernatural happenings are a common occurrence.

she may not look like it, but mirasol is a budding magician! she has powerful botanokinetic abilities (though she also doesn't have much control over them). anyways, that's just a convoluted way of saying she can use plant-based magic but kinda sucks at it.

this wouldn't be a problem if it weren't for the fact that on terrania, magic is considered "unnatural" and outlawed almost everywhere!

and yet, magic still plays a huge role in mirasol's life! at least in secret...

mirasol works a part-time job at her mom's restaurant, nina's inn. on the surface, it looks like a normal restaurant...

but it doubles as a secret hub for magicians from all over the quilt to hang out and try food from other dimensions! as you can imagine, a job like this requires a lot of dimension hopping, so mirasol still has plenty of room to hone in her skills.

outside of magic, mirasol also has a lot of interest in playing video games and making home movies. she wants to be a director one day...maybe a fantasy director?

baby's first shitpost

this was actually based on this one time when someone saw a drawing i did of harune and thought it was supposed to be miku. now that i think about it, they really are kinda similar aren't they?

i've been busy with college stuff so i haven't been able to work on digital art, but i've been working on some oc sketches so i thought i'd ramble about them or something

so, uh, i guess here goes!

this is resande (on the left with the antlers) and harune (on the right with the long long hair). they are "roommates." they come from the dimension asteria, where deities from the days of yore mix with the technology of the future...which i guess is the present for these two little mortals.

harune is the shyer (shier?) one. she's a dork. it's okay though because i love her. she likes watching and drawing cartoons and collecting these weird antique things called dee-vee-dees...her favorite show is a magical girl anime called "pink comet" (see the little sketch thing above).

resande is some kind of gremlin menace, but harune is like the only person in the entire quilt who can keep her in check so it's fine. resande is an outdoorsy person. she loves nature. i love nature too, so we got that going for each other.

ok, so you know how asteria has deities and stuff? well, harune and resande actually work for a deity. they're part-time angels, so they go around the quilt doing things angels are expected to do. most of the time they kinda just fool around though, like so:

(they're not usually this obnoxious but i'm pretty sure the minecraft movie had some cognitohazards in it that activated some strange neurons in them)

oh yeah. harune has a sister named takemi. (more on her in a later post?)

and uhh that's about it. also... it's lesbian visibility week! perfect time to show off these ocs. go be visible my babies ❤️

(i guess as a side note...these sketches, as goofy as they are, are actually really strangely helpful in drawing poses and clothes and hair and textures and so on. maybe i'll digitize these one day...?)

Terrania, Newtonica

Happy Earth Day to one and all! In honor of this...holiday? I'd like to shed a little light on the Cosmic Quilt's own version of Earth, the planet formerly known as Terrania.

Terrania is a lonely little rock in the middle of nowhere. It's the only planet in the Newtonican dimension that seems to have any life. It's also the least magical place in the Quilt...I wonder why?

Here's a little sketch I did that probably best sums up what Terranian life is like, at least in one tiny tiny sliver of the planet:

All About...the Cosmic Quilt

Let's go on an adventure!

The Cosmic Quilt is a nexus of strange dimensions, home to hundreds upon thousands upon millions of creatures called cosmizens. (I know this because I counted them all.)

If there was a single word to best describe the Quilt, it would probably be "eclectic." It's kind of like a giant collage! You'll come across cosmizens who look hand-drawn and others who come in 3D flavors. You might see some who look like they came straight out of an anime, and others who look more at home inside a notebook full of doodles. But there's one thing that connects them all: magic!

Almost all cosmizens use magic in their lives to some extent. Sometimes it's for practical uses, but it's also an integral part of many cosmic cultures. It's how they connect, how they talk and walk and live and love, and so on. It's all around everyone, if you look hard enough.

I should also probably mention...the Cosmic Quilt is a big place, so there's a lot of things I'm still discovering about it. One thing I've found is that temporal anomalies and reality shifts are a fairly common occurrence. Anyways, this is just a fancy in-character way of saying that the Quilt, its lore, its dimensions, and its characters are all subject to change in any way at any time.

Regardless, I still think the Quilt is a very lovely place. It's like something out of a dream. Please stop by sometime...who knows what surprises might pop out?

figure i'd introduce myself for the folks around town...

my name is soshi! i'm a trans artist studying character design and animation and stuff. this blog is for posting about the cosmic quilt, a peculiar world (worlds?) i've been working on for a long long time...

you can expect a lot of character profiles and worldbuilding with shitposts (soshitposts?) and other ramblings interspersed for good measure. if it sounds confusing, don't worry. i'm confused too.
