People tagging my Star Trek: TOS seasons 1-3 posts with "Bones didn't sign up for any of this shit": Technically incorrect. Bones may have been unaware of the true depth and breadth of the shit but he definitely officially signed up for some of it through Starfleet service contract.

People tagging my Star Trek: The Motion Picture through the first two thirds of The Search For Spock posts with "Bones didn't sign up for any of this shit": Technically correct! Bones was drafted via a little-known service reactivation clause, intimating that he had no idea of this possibility when he signed up way back when and probably considered being forcibly beamed back onto the Enterprise after several years in retirement to be kidnapping rather than actively signing up for this shit. Even though due diligence is the responsibility of the signer, it could be argued that that this was an unforeseeable consequence. Whether it could be argued that it was a foreseeable consequence if Bones had ever met Jim Kirk is another story.

People tagging my end of The Search for Spock through The Undiscovered Country posts with "Bones didn't sign up for any of this shit": At the end of The Search For Spock, Bones says "I choose the danger" in an official capacity in front of several witnesses. Now, whether he is coerced, in his right mind (as well as someone else's) or whether this statement is considered legally binding in Federation court--

can i stand up and say that ros AND yellow are completely irredeemable from lukeys pov or will the audience not like that one. because it’s honestly just been something that’s been bothering me a little bit. the way they talk about him like he’s less than human gets under my skin. can i just rant for a minute. is this okay with everyone.

like imagine you’re thrown into this new world and someone you’ve never met hates you for hearing your voice in a pocket dimension. and then murders you for it like an hour into your life. and then everyone acts like it’s okay because she’s going through a real rough time. and yeah she is, but how does that make it okay? they defend it, because she was scared, but you were scared too. what about your fear? you didn’t even do anything. she keeps threatening to kill you, and you can’t do anything, and you’re powerless. and then you join the opposing faction, because why wouldn’t you. and then her factionmate kills you a few days later. and it’s all one big joke. the entire faction hates you and they believe you’re evil, because they have to justify themselves somehow. no enemy of the kingdom can be innocent, so you must be evil, but you don’t even know who you are yet. and the king takes responsibility for all of it, willingly.

and you’re not perfect, but you try to remain kind. you ask her if she’s comfortable with you attending her event, and as you’re leaving, she calls you back and tries to murder you. again. and she’s friends with the guy you’ve sworn your life to, who’s likewise sworn to keep you safe. and she tells him it was just a little tap, like it was nothing. later, you try to stick up for yourself, defend your innocence, and she tells you that she doesn’t view you as an equal, much less a human being. your death does not matter to her because she doesn’t believe you deserve to live. she doesn’t believe you’re anything at all. "you’re nothing to me, lukey," and everyone lets it happen.

she continues to berate and belittle you, and threaten your life, and so does everyone else, because they’ve decided you’re evil. and it’s funny. and you’re weak. sneeg, and ros, and tina, and zam—and foolish lets them. and then ros dies. and she comes back weird and wrong, and people say to you try to start over, so you try, bitterly. but you’re evil. she calls you a dog. a pet. mocks you. says you make her want to be violent.

and something’s got to give. someone has to take responsibility, so,

why is it okay for killer to be unhealthily obsessed with color but it suddenly crosses a line when it's dust or someone else

Because it is acknowledged as unhealthy when it becomes unhealthy, is because killer is a traumatized character who hasn’t had healthy relationships in years and tends to think of them in terms of a hierarchy, and because the whole point of killer’s ending with color is that he doesn’t stay that way forever and is having help and support and therapy.

Not to mention I am all about staying close to canon and I firmly believe Killer would not even care enough about Dust to become ‘obsessed’ or fixated. Color is the only person who has not only made Killer feel something in years consistently, but makes him feel real and treats him as if he’s real.

Of course the traumatized disordered man who already struggles to tell what is and isn’t real latches on to that and is a bit terrorital. Color is literally the only person or thing that has made him feel an inch of happiness in years—the only one who has made him feel like an actual person, the one keeping him grounded and will not just let him slip away into his detachment—outside of his cats—which, if you’d recall, are not safe from Nightmare. Color at least has the abilities to fight back and fight back good. Killer is attracted to his strength, after all, amongst many things. (Something Dust does not have, btw, ergo not safe to bother trying to attach to.)

My main issue was never that Killer was obsessed. My issue was that its sexualized almost all the time, it happens for hardly any explainable reasons that make sense and it happens with characters he wouldn’t feel that way towards—and im never given a reason as to why im supposed to believe that this character—known for his apathy and neutrality towards most people and detachment and genuine lack of ability to form many emotional attachments—is behaving that way. And so I am only left to assume it’s because the person depicting it is a Dust or Nightmare simp and want me to believe that Killer would feel the same way about these characters that they do.

super quick musings on Fathoms. i like a lot about the pose + design, but i feel like they kinda suffer from Undel Sameface when everything about their lore is pointing towards "friendly gentle ocean giants". wanted to roughly sketch Merrigan for a side-by-side comparison, and then some rough doodles of how i might push the design in a chunkier, more cetacean-inspired direction - 3 is swapping the features but keeping the overall proportions/layout mostly the same, and 4 is pushing the proportions even further

ok guys i finally got to watch maximus' talk about qsmp! and here have some paraphrasing:

i've seen in twitter that qsmp is making merch, they released trump, i laughed by myself because they're going to be selling an egg called trump. i named him trump because the series had a massive wall, my brain made a connection in that moment: "ok if there's a wall there has to be someone called trump". and now they're going to sell an egg for real called trump. another piece of qsmp lore where i contributed.

he also jokes that trump's wish was to build a bigger wall than the one the qsmp built. and that if quackity or merch person changes the name to trumpet just because they’re afraid of success he's gonna be disappointed. (/j !)

chat also asks if he's gonna get some % but he says that if there's someone that should get it is the one that played as trump! that he shouldn't get anything.

i love lucisev in any flavor its given to me but in particular i really enjoy 1) lucisev thats been together since pre going back in time and dont even remember when they “happened” theyve just always been a forever constant and comfort without having to label it or eachother until they dont have it anymore (being separated post time jump) and 2) lucisev that has never happened and its been a pining disastrous mess for years on both ends but then selena leaves for nohr and when laslow and odin ask what she’s holding herself back for she doesnt answer but they already know. when they come back home, selena searches everywhere for her and sometimes, she’s too late. lucina’s already packed up and left the world behind, and for what? no one really knows. but sometimes, she finds her again, but it’s been so long and lucina’s not sure they can go back to being the same way they used to be, not after feeling hurt and betrayed by severa’s sudden departure. but things like this take time, and selena is finally at a place in her life where she can decidedly say she has all of the time in the world.

I did, however, uhm. talk a Lot. and I'm very much being more honest about my feelings on this than I usually am, so it's going under the cut bdjshdjdnf

Ahem ahem. So. From a meta standpoint? I just have a very, very weird feeling about what's going on with tsams now that they've Also changed Lunar's name. The only information we have on what's happening is from Discord, where Kat mentioned it wasn't her choice to change Earth's name and the mods reassuring everyone that the changes are for a good reason. I've been seeing theories that the changes are to make them more sellable for merch? But I,, don't fully know why they'd have to change their own OCs for that? So idk

From a story perspective though? It doesn't make sense and it's just another vein of Lunar having no choice in what happens to them.

Just because Libra asked "do you accept this permanent name change?" doesn't mean that "no" was a valid answer, because then what would have happened? They say "actually, I like my name, Lunar feels fine" and then what? The astrals, of which are famously judgy and pushy, say "okay, we'll continue to call you Lunar then! (Even though we just said that Lunar is an unfitting astral name)" like?!?!!??? And Lunar just immediately goes home to be like "uh. I guess I have a different name now? and I don't wanna deal with two names, so just call me Cosmos too."

They didn't make this choice. And honestly! They couldn't have because Lunar wouldn't have ever changed their name of their own volition!!! You can't tell me that Lunar—the character who is known for trying to cling onto a sense of identity so hard that it causes more problems for them in the long run—would be willing to let go of their own name? That is the one thing about them that actually hasn't changed since the beginning, the one thing that's consistent in the face of everything.

Plus, on a more personal note? I had an experience with my old username where everyone was calling me a nickname derived from my url instead of my actual chosen name, and the realization that only one person was calling me my actual preferred name made me have a messy identity crisis. If Lunar wasn't just, a character who is unfortunately the subject of bad writing lately, this choice would probably hit them at some point. They'd probably have that same awful, dreadful feeling of "oh god. no one even knows me."

It's just. Earth made sense because she at least gave her own reasons. She said "yeah I'm tryna be my own person now, so I'm Terra!" but Lunar's reason was just "uh. Libra gave it to me sooo.... 👍 yup." Like. augghhh. They could have gone by both Lunar and Cosmos too if the writing wasn't being so weird but !!! ugh. deflates. it's whateverrrrr

Anyone recommend any discord servers that are friendly to multishippers? I’d love to supplement my fandom experience with spaces that aren’t obsessed with “winning” against other fans of a TV show none of us have any control over in the first place 🙃

Also, in a bit of criticism and worry, but I feel like having Phi already starting to forgive Tam is really messing with my feelings on the pacing of the show. It just feels... off. Way too soon to be 'less mad' and talking about 'enjoying the new taste'. Like... Tam didn't explain anything. Having Phi already looking towards a future with him and saying to not abandon him again just feels way too soon for the emotional through line of the show. It's episode 3, take your time.
