Ross leans against a wall in the large room and contemplates the tumbler of brandy in his hand. George does not skimp, this amber liquid is quite good. Ross is well acquainted with fine brandy, risking much himself to import the best available through less than legal means. He scans the room, it is between dances and most of the guests are clustered together in groups, engaged in flattery and idle conversation. He had quarreled with his wife an hour ago, he knew his surly attitude and lack of attention had angered Demelza, and he could certainly understand why. Yet at that moment he was incapable of bending, of admitting he was wrong. And rather than making it up with her, he continued playing cards. His grief and outrage over the disgusting treatment of his friend Jim Carter, which ultimately led to his untimely death, had rendered him powerless to rise above his mood. But by God, Demelza is the last person to deserve the sharp-edge of his ire, and now he feels incredibly ashamed at his behavior. 

He watches his wife chatting merrily with several solicitous gentlemen across the ballroom, without a doubt she has many would-be suitors were her husband not standing in the way. She glances at him, her eyes still flashing with annoyance and hurt, she is ravishing and haughty and so very tempting. Demelza is wearing a new gown, its fabric selected particularly for this occasion. It is the color of Spring and covered with delicate leaves and stems. Her décolletage is framed with the tiniest diaphanous ruffle which projects the opposite of demure, rather than disguising, it accentuates her bust and she is fully aware of its effect. 

Ross has had enough drink this night, he sets his glass aside and walks over to speak quietly with the leader of the small orchestra assembled in the southern corner of the room, a few coins are discreetly handed over. While likely the poorest of manners to divert the musical program toward his personal goals, he cares not and strides determinedly toward Demelza. She sees him coming and her brows gather in anticipation of protest but Ross does not give her an opportunity to refuse. He takes her by the hand and leads her to the center of the dance floor. Demelza initially resists his embrace, she is still put-out and a little embarrassed by their earlier exchange… but then she turns her head and looks into his eyes and her anger melts away, he can be damnable at times but his feelings for her are written on his face. 

Ross takes her in his arms as the music strikes up and begins to dance a dance that he has only seen once before, he holds his beautiful wife, his hand sitting familiarly at her waist, and leads her in The Walse. The steps are not truly known to him but he believes he can manage a fair representation, he has some skill at dancing though rarely used. The onlookers at the time he first witnessed this exercise were scandalized by the closeness of its participants, and from the expressions on many a face, they are once again. He grins inwardly at this but Demelza’s visage, her fine features gazing up at him, he is nearly overcome with desire. She is his complete focus, the only thing in this world that truly matters. That he could act an idiot and lose sight of that, well, he is an imperfect man.

They are a vision to behold on the ballroom floor, Ross expertly guiding in his version of this dance, Demelza following his lead like a woman who has been trained in this since girlhood. Their bodies move together instinctually as one, gracefully drifting and turning and whirling together. All eyes are upon them, but theirs are only for each other.

68. ok so I get we have gone over this infinity and beyond but note how Magnus is saying he hasn’t been sleeping 😭 Alec is allowed to live in his dreams because he has eternity to spend with Magnus but COME THE FUCK ON!!!!!! but I also love how this isn’t all super serious because Malec can have fun and have their moments without needing to be serious all the time. but also also also maybe Alec is trying to give him some space and not be overbearing. just some thoughts (gif by knightofsteles)

70. okay maybe it’s not serious and maybe they didn’t want to have a heavy Malec scene since they added it later. and maybe not everything has to be dissected but you’re telling me that Magnus says he hasn’t been sleeping and Alec doesn’t raise an eye????? or maybe I’m reading too much into this and Alec knows Magnus so well and knows that Magnus either doesn’t want to talk about the whole thing or isn’t ready. but part of me wishes Alec would’ve said something. just a small thing

in 2x01, alec was going through a thing you’ll see often called this is lazy and shit writing syndrome so when Magnus said “I’m a lot” alec didn’t deny the claim. but I just want maybe a tiny little small comment of alec saying something about Magnus not able to sleep. or to see Alec doing something small to help Magnus sleep through the night. AM I EVEN BEING COHERENT. but maybe the training scene is Alec’s way of going along with the flow because magnus distracts himself with stuff so maybe alec is just waiting for magnus to talk about it

Second Wave Preview

Hello again all! Our next artist for the CSSNS is none other than @flipperbrain!!! She is doing not only her own fic with art accompanying, she’s doing fic art for another CSSNS author as well!

How long have you been in the CS/OUAT fandom? 

2 years in May

When did you start shipping CaptainSwan? 

I'd never heard of 'shipping' before I joined Tumblr, but I loved the tension between them starting in Season 2. Killian was beautiful from the get go but he truly stole my heart in Neverland and I've been a goner ever since.

What drew you to this event?

I'm usually not into supernatural type au's for CS but @kmomof4 asked me to make a header for the cssns blog and it was a lot of fun so I thought why not? Now I've already written my story and done the art for it, lol, and it's not posting until July! Guess I'll have to flesh it out some more or write another chapter or two in the meantime. :)

What inspired your topic? 

I've had an idea in my head for a vampire one-shot for a awhile, I'm sure it's not all that original of a concept but it's done my way, dark and broody.

I am over the moon excited that Kris has decided to join us for this event! I had an idea of what she might do for the banner when I asked her to do it, but she exceeded all expectations! I’m pretty sure that anyone reading this would agree with me that the banner is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! I swear, I couldn’t stop staring at it for literally DAYS!! And I still just get a thrill of delight down my spine overtime I log on to the blog and see it again! She is responsible for the icon as well! So everyone go say “hi” to this incredible artist and flail over that breathtaking banner!! Her fic will drop on July 10!

Today, on the anniversary of @flipperbrain‘s birth, I’d like to celebrate this tremendously talented shipmate!!! She writes, she encourages, she ARTS!!!!! Kris is one of my favorite artists in the fandom! Her original drawings of my OTP are sooooo beautiful! And she’s even done some for me!!!! She was so gracious to make the banner and icon for the CSSNS, and she also made artwork for Hollye, Laura, and Salem for Christmas for me! So these are my absolute favorites of her artwork! Happiest of birthdays Kris! I can’t wait to meet you in person in 4 short days!!!!!

I love the Twilight Zone. I mean, to probably a weird degree. Well, not too weird, but I love the hell out of it. Anyway, a few years back, a friend of mine gave me a copy of a book her company was doing from Rod Serling’s wife where there were a number of authors writing different short stories, and one in particular stuck with me. I’m sure I’ll think of 9000 books that should go in this place instead, but for now, here it is. 

For these next four, I’d go off forever and then also continually debate about what order they should go in, so, for now...
