Arrow Rewatch 2018:eps 1-3

Episode 1 what I like is the tie in with the end of season five including the Deathstroke mask and everything.  I see a lot of sadness and hurt in the eyes and I think ti’s portrayed really well.  The fake smile for Tommy vs the genuine smile for Thea was interesting.  Shading Walter and his Mother.  LOL Laurel yuck okay no chemistry she seems like someone stuck in hate and the past and yeah not what I thought because everyone played up that she was the love of his life before I watched the show either they scripted it wrong or they picked the absolute wrong person to portray her.  The kidnapping I wonder if Moira paid them prior to them kidnapping him because if she didn’t he sure saved her some money LOL. The list first Adam Hunt that was fun especially the slipping of Diggle. To me it seems they fit more story in than they do now. The party being across from Adam Hunts building and using the sniffer arrow cool tricks.  I wonder who he went to for that tech device before Felicity. Also his set up of the Lair and workout scenes yummy.  THe police scanner and basic computer was cute especially considering what the Bunker had in it WOW.

Episode 2 The declaration of Life was interesting Thea and the partying repeat of Oliver prior to the Island.  The dedication of the Building they blew up in season 2 was cute Robert Queen Applied Sciences and him putting on a terrible show hilarious but not at the same time.  More ditching of John to deal with Nociente and Chyna White.  Even when they are eating Ice Cream together it looks like she wants to bite his head off constantly but it might just be me. I also felt that the Triad was more intimidating than anything this past season. Then the moira ominous limo meeting dundundun.

Episode 3 Getting along for the sake of getting along yeah. Night club idea I forgot it was brought up this early on.  Thea getting grounded best thing Oliver trying to control her not so good only pushes he away.  Floyd Lawton time. Felicity I just love the sideways glance that says “I know you are lying but I will go along with it for now.” the smile the magic you could feel it that episode I so could the first time I watched and every time after and the first time I didn’t know who she was I was still supposed to believe somehow chemistry would form between him and Laurel meh.  Carly and Big Belly Burger discussing the night club again. The Unidac auction and the gun shooting action hiding the hood in a garbage can Diggle chasing after him not realizing what would happen getting shot then Oliver saves him and a friendship is about to truly be born.  The feels.

I don’t know if this is how we are supposed to do this but it’s how I do it.  So read it don’t comment don’t makes no difference because I am watching it for me.

Beginning of the End.

I was doing some late night googling and I stumbled across a Green Arrow comic called ‘Rise of Star City’ which I think they might be following, albeit loosely, for the end of this season. I haven’t read it, but the gist seems to involve The Ninth Circle basically destroying Star City. Oliver discovers that the Queen family are original members of The Ninth Circle. Roy Harper comes back, and Oliver is framed for murder and arrested.

The following comic, I think, is 'The Hard travelling hero’ which sees Oliver going around the US trying to stop the Ninth Circle from destroying anywhere else.

So…maybe this happens. Maybe The Ninth Circle destroys Star City and blames it on vigilantes. Maybe even killing the Mayor and framing Oliver for the murder. This would be a good reason for Oliver and Felicity to leave town, and to stay hidden while Felicity gives birth.

We all are assuming that Oliver is dead in the future because of Crisis. Why else would he not be around for his family?

Maybe because he’s been travelling the US hunting down The Ninth Circle, feeling responsible because of his family ties, determined to end it once and for all.

Because of Felicity’s Archer programme he is unable to get in touch, but he’s found his way back to Star City because The Ninth Circle are Galaxy One. So they all need to come together to finally defeat the enemy. Leading to reunions all round.

I know this doesn’t take Crisis into account. But what if that is just a big red herring? We all think we know what’s going to happen, what if we’re wrong?

I previously stated before that it’s possible that Oliver’s deal/sacrifice is just a chapter in the story, and not the end result.

This is just a theory. The more we move towards the end of the season, the more hopeful I have been feeling that Oliver Queen is alive in the future. After 7x16, I’m about 90% sure that he is.

Felicity’s speech about a hero sacrificing their own family to save others. It seemed kind of off to me given how fiercely family first Olicity have been lately. Would Oliver Queen give up being a part of his family’s life to right his family’s wrongs once and for all, if he found out that those wrongs went deeper than he ever knew? Possibly.

Back in 7x10, they went out of their way to show how much Oliver was angry with his father for abandoning Emiko. They had Felicity tell Oliver that he was a better man than his father ever was.

Was this all foreshadowing that Oliver was wrong to judge his father’s actions before walking in his shoes?

Listen, I share the popular opinion that these flashforwards are too bleak. That Olicity deserve to raise their children in peace and have a HEA. But I’m trying to find another way in which I could be okay with the alternative. I don’t think we’re gonna get what we want. Not entirely. I think Olicity will get their HEA, I just don’t think the timeline will change. I think this is it. Maybe Crisis will change it. Maybe it won’t. I just hope more than anything that we get some kind of satisfying pay off for our 7+ years of investment.

@memcjo @supersillyanddorky06 I feel like it's shitty writing to fix previous shitty writing. They're trying their hardest to make the noobies relevant. In the logical world, John and Felicity would be working together to find Diaz and help Oliver. But they've seperated them to make the others relevant. Otherwise, nobody cares. I feel like John will be more prevalent in the second half of the season. Which will tie in with ARGUS.

Yep! the writers have a pattern of downplaying OTA so the NOTta can be a part of the SL~UGH! Fingers crossed we see JD turn things around (and by JD I mean the writers that write him!)

If this is the last season Of Arrow, they could kill Felicity without worry for next season

7.01 could be a memory scene of some sort( maybe Willuam being chased down by Diaz, Felicity intervenes and is killed instead

The rest of theseason is spent with events leading up to her death

(Let me just say that this is an aweful aweful spec that I really, really hope doesn’t happen

I love Felicity and I love Olicity . After 6 seasons of devoted viewing , I want some”sustained happy” payback. But I have been disappointed so many times in the past few years , that I almost expect the opposite of my hopes to happen)

Someone (or everyone) please feel free to talk me down from my ledge

Thoughts on Season 7 Storytelling Technique

In lieu of trying to wipe the season 6 finale from my mind, I have been thinking a lot about the new season 7 storytelling technique that Stephen has been alluding to recently. I know everyone is speculating that it is a flashforward of sorts, but this almost seems too obvious to me. So I stared thinking ,”what do I really want to see from this point on in Arrow?”- and I came up with this,” I want to see what is truly going on in the hearts and minds of the characters” Specifically, Oliver/Felicity/and Dig. I don’t know if this is a storytelling technique, but what if, instead of flash forwards , we got dream sequences or wish sequences from the hearts and minds of Oliver and Felicity specifically. They are walking 2 parallel but separate and connected storylines next season for what may be close to 1/3 to 1/2 of it. I think it would be sooo interesting to see the wishes of their hearts and the musings of their thoughts/ souls as they go through the trials and tribulations of being separated physically but still united in every other way. ( maybe this explains the baby reference that DR made at HVFF - not an actual occurrence in present time/ not an actual flash forward to the future/ but a wish or desire by either Oliver or Felicity of where they had hoped their love and lives together would lead them) it doesn’t mean that the baby won’t happen in the future , but it doesn’t commit the Arrow writers to providing it either next season.

Final thoughts- I am so tired of Arrow sacrificing character growth and focus for plot action- the action sequences have become boring and monotonous to me. I can only watch Oliver beat the crap out of the “bad guys” so much without wishing and wanting something so much more deeper from the show that I have come to know and love over the past 6 seasons. I WANT TO SEE OLIVER AND FELICITY( and Dig) from the inside out. I want their hearts, minds and souls laid bared to me. We have not gotten that in so long. I have great hope that Beth Schwartz and the new writers will bring this back to Arrow!!

It’s so ridiculous when certain people say Olicity came of nowhere...like man, they started to paved the road towards a romantic relationship between Oliver and Felicity, since at least 1x14. There’s no way in hell they weren’t intending to make Felicity the leading lady since then! (no one can’t convince me otherwise).

Arrow Could Be So Good

But in the end it comes down to these three - the heart of Arrow - OTA.

I was late to the fandom, I didn’t join Tumblr to the end of Season 4 but I’m so glad I had the opportunity to meet so many truly AMAZING people. I’m not going anywhere but I just wanted to give a shoutout to all the gif makers, fan art talent, fanfic writers who have brought me joy. Thank you. No matter what happens tonight - I’m holding onto to the early seasons that gave me hope. Hugs to you all!

5.23 insight in 6.18?

Since we have received no real glimpse, as of yet, as to what transpired on Lian Yui immediately post explosion ( other than for Oliver to find Thea and Samantha), do any of you think it is possible we will get this glimpse during 6.18 ( if the hallucination spec holds up) ?

If Oliver Queen dies sacrificing himself before saving the city, doesn’t he become Robert Queen?

If Oliver’s daughter grows up without her father, doesn’t he become Robert Queen?

If Oliver and Felicity pass the mantle onto to their kids without saving the city, doesn’t that make them Robert and Moira Queen?

Oliver is not Robert.

Felicity is not Moira.

Robert asked Oliver to right his wrongs.

He wasn’t just talking about the city.

He didn’t want Oliver to become him.

If Oliver dies so that others can live, yes it’s a heroic end, but isn’t that what Robert did? He sacrificed himself so that Oliver would live. Is it noble? Sure. Is it selfish? Absolutely.

Robert Queen left a big mess behind him that Oliver has been trying to clean up eversince. But if Oliver dies and leaves Star City in the mess we see it become in 2040, is he any better than his father?

Robert abandoned his daughter; Emiko. Oliver was so horrified at this, but his condemnation rang a little hollow knowing now that his own daughter Mia grows up without her father.

Star City must be saved before Oliver and Felicity can move on. To right his father’s wrongs. To end the cycle, picking up their parents mantle must be a choice Mia and William make for themselves. Otherwise all of this was for nothing.

And another thing…

Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak must live.

The whole foundation of Arrow was built on hope. It was built on defying the norm of things.

It started with Oliver being stranded on an island he should never have survived.

It started with him as a vigilante who kills becoming a hero who finds another way.

It was him willing to die so others could live, and saw the importance in him fighting to live and not to die.

It was Oliver thinking that he didn’t deserve love and happiness and saw him finding it with Felicity Smoak.

It was him thinking that he couldn’t have a family and be a hero, to seeing him marry the love of his life and the birth of his daughter.

To complete this story…to pass on its legacy hope must be retained. Those wrongs must be written. The city must be saved. The heroes must live.
