Hear, hear! I don't want to get a damn automatic AI summary or answer when I'm trying to google stuff myself - such a waste of resources, honestly.

I wish there was a way to completely OPT OUT of AI. Like you could set your ENTIRE Internet browser to NOT shove it down your throat.

When social media was getting big, you could just NOT get a Facebook or a Twitter. It was simple as that. You can't do that with AI.

Trying to find a job? It goes straight to an AI filter. Trying to look at art? Here's 100+ ai shit. Trying to look up who was in what movie from the 1980s? GOOGLE GEMINI IS HERE WITH THE COMPLETELY WRONG ANSWER!

Someone PLEASE create a way to allow people to get AI the FUCK OUT of our lives if we DO NOT WANT IT!

A research paper by Ari Peskoe and Eliza Martin published in March looked at 50 regulatory cases involving data centers, and found that tech companies were pushing some of the costs onto utility customers through secret contracts with the utilities. The paper found that utilities were often parroting rhetoric from AI boosting politicians—including President Biden—to suggest that pushing through permitting for AI data center infrastructure is a matter of national importance.

Seriously, can not help, but think that this is related to the "Big Beautiful Bill "and it's unregulated AI usage for 10 years...I am so done with AI 🙄!

I think of those commercials where people are like “what food does my friend not like” and “how did I deal with the goldfish dying” and like, the only the only two ways the AI can help you with the tasks that they’re marketing it on is either:

1. You have to enter ALL of this information about random crap ALL OF THE TIME, or

2. Your device is constantly surveilling you to learn every aspect of your existence and eventually replace your own internal memory.

To be clear: the tech bros themselves probably don't give a fuck.

It's the investor class, who were duped into investing hard in A.I., that now pressure other companies they have a stake in to try to justify their investment wherever possible.

Which means that not being able to opt out, not even opening up the possibility that the addition of A.I. is unnecessary and unhelpful, is the entire point.
