Shower thoughts on fandom

You know, looking at all the fan art, animatics, fics, and skits about the odyssey made me think…

I know fandom has evolved like crazy over the last couple decades, but the odyssey was so popular that they made the illiad and even different versions of the original story.

While the odyssey has definitely remained in the public sphere i don’t think it’s ever had so many people focusing on it before.

Imagine going back and time and telling someone making their Odysseus fan art on a vase and telling them we’re still looking at their fan art in 3000 years.

Can you imagine that? We’re part of an almost 3000 year old fandom. People have been making fan art and dissecting the themes and plot lines for this story for almost 3000 years.

They had published and popularized fanfic.

This is mind blowing to me.

So when someone tells you to grow up and stop watching something or that no one cares about your art or it’s not important, just remember you are part of over 3000 years of people going fucking feral over their fictional comfort characters.

This is like someone showing up from 3000 years in the future to tell me, hey we still love supernatural.

Enjoy your fandom, leave plenty of content behind, someone will thank you in 3000 years.

Ok, so what age is Billy Batson in World Without Grown-Ups? (1998)

I'm trying to figure out what the age difference would be between him and Tim Drake, and therefore the age difference between THAT Billy and Damian & Jon. And also where Billy & Stargirl dating would land on this kind of timeline.

(I don't know why I like giving myself migraines trying to figure out the age differences between comic book kids, but here I am once again.)

My Jason Todd meets Venom au is, V gets stuck in an alternate universe and bonds with Jason. It's like, he would be a perfect host, but the Lazarus pit side effects are hostile to symbiotes, something like that. They get by well enough. Red Hood is also a lethal protector, so after a rocky start (being possessed is never a picnic) they get along pretty well!

V: I miss Eddie…..

Jason: I know bud. Do you wanna go eat a rapist? Would that make you feel better?

I'm imagining a point in time in which Jason has a truce with the Batfam but doesn't contact them regularly. Most of them are feeling pretty okay about Red Hood and then suddenly he starts turning into a giant monster and eating people. They are freaking the fuck out. Every time one of the bats shows up to check on him Venom is like "these people are bothering you. can we eat them? can we pleeeeeeaaaaaase eat them?" and Jason has to take several deep breaths so that he manage a "no"

say what u will about barry allen but no other superhero has had a worse time. you come in, take up another heros mantle, be a hero for however many years, DIE!!! actually die not comic death but die to the point you are functionally irrelevant for 20 years you completely cease to be that character and the vast majority of people grew up with a different flash, get resurrected you're back now (yay?), writers don't know what to do with you because there's already another flash and there has been for the past two decades so the entire universe kinda hems and haws about what to do with you until they take you out of your main comics and just have you chill in the justice league, then you lose your powers and are once again no longer the flash.

I need a "where are they now" but for Barry Allen flash. dead for Twenty Real Life Years. come back to life. reset the universe. just to lose your powers and be booted again from the superhero title. God himself hates this man

"Oh wally got erased from existence" "well x happens to Batman" it's not even about what happens in the narrative it's like. you're the only mainstream superhero ever that stopped existing for two decades and when they do decide to bring the character back they have no idea what to do with you so you're eventually forever relegated to the sidelines And also you're not the strongest or the most skilled or the fastest flash and they keep retconning all the special stuff You did in specific and refuse to let your narrative exist beyond Dead Mom. bartholomew baby I'm so sorry
