Headcanon: Names

The Underground has a lot of changes. Individuals come and go. For someone who is nigh-immortal like Jareth, it can be a chore to remember the names of every single denizen when they're in the thousands, and many of them look alike or dress similarly.

Because of this, he tends to lean toward not using names when addressing the goblins. For the most part, they know when he is addressing them, even if it was a simple "You". The goblins who work closest with him know to use descriptors when they don't think he'll remember, or when they don't know names and need to relay a message.

An excellent example is with the guard toward the end of the movie, who I have decided is the leader of the guard:

"Your Highness! Your Highness! Your Highness, the girl! The girl who ate the peach and forgot everything!"

"What of her?"

"She, the monster, Sir Didymus, and the dwarf, they made it through the gate and they're on their way to the castle!"

The reason for this is actually because he is bad at remembering names. It was something that he struggled with from a young age. If he met someone for a short moment, it was a coin-flip as to whether he would remember it down the line. Ultimately, he decided against honing the skill to remember names unless they were important.

To his credit, he remembers a part of the name. Using Hoggle as the key example, he would know the general 'sound' of the name, but he wouldn't care to put the effort in to remember the exact thing.

If this changes, and he actively remembers your name, take it as a compliment. He deems you worthy to be remembered. Likewise, he'll make an effort when he knows he is dealing with someone important (such as another powerful magical being), or correctly use a name that is so short it would be impossible to deliberately get wrong.

Finally... Please be aware that there is a possibility your muse may be incorrectly named in the narrative. I like writing my third person narrative over my muses shoulder, and having things viewed from their perspective rather than truly neutral.

Yippeee yayy some info about who that even is if anyone else wants to send asks. Nevada is my oc, space pirate thief, love interest and just a silly guy from a story that I call Skyfall and you can look at other characters from it here. And this is the ask game this is for.

16. Is there any memes or running jokes associated with the character, both in- and out of universe?

I guess the nickname they have amongst other criminals can count although Nevada themself doesn't find it funny. I can just put the excerpt I wrote about it here but I have not touched that draft in a WHILE and I'm not editing it now soooo. 

“Too-good Nevada. ‘Too-good’, as in ‘too good to get caught’, but the name quickly evolved into No-good or Disaster Nevada, as they are most commonly known. Other variations included titles like Calamity, Trouble, Catastrophe and whatnot. Anything at least vaguely related to misfortune their bearer tends to bring, and all of them were well-earned. 

Violent arrests, plethora of unfortunate injuries and accidents, one more bizarre than the other - Nevada has dealt with it all. But here's the thing: most of the time they weren't the one actually subjected to any of it. Their ability to always somehow narrowly avoid the most horrible situations unscathed is just astonishing as it is ridiculous, but the people working with them? It's common knowledge among criminals that you shouldn't get involved with No-good Nevada if you value your time, money, or life.

Not because they don't care about their fellow thieves though. From what Ray heard, they rarely screw their teammates over first and are so easy-going they could rope anyone they pleased into one of their schemes with just a few words. At least in their early days, before the rumors about their bad luck started. Plenty of them are false, surely, but people love their gossip, in this field especially. Ray remembers hearing something about not one, but two guys getting impaled on an art piece in the process of trying to steal it while on the job with them. And Nevada? Allegedly later sold it away for more than it was worth by claiming the blood they didn't bother to wash off added to the message of the original work. Did that make Ray wrinkle up their nose at how absurd it sounded? Yes. But did it also make them incredibly curious about whether or not it has actually happened? Also yes. Maybe they should ask them about that one now, while they're at it.”

Something I like to make jokes about is that buckwheat is a common food they eat in space, because I made up that part of the lore because of a random joke post I saw and found amusing.

18. Does the character have other characters connected to them? Do you have a family tree and "offscreen" connections made up for them or do they exist in a vacuum purely for the purpose of the story? 

I meannn Nevada has a backstory but it is relevant to the plot and also they're an orphan so no family tree there, no. They lived on the streets with a bunch of kids for a while, and that was the extent of their family. Then they all get stolen by a crime organization to be trained to be part of it and it all goes to shitttt. Nevada escapes at some point, but has to leave everyone else behind and after that the closest they have to a family is the crew that is very much plot relevant. 

I should maybe make them some more thief friends but Nevada's whole reputation thing is that you should not under any circumstances ever partner up with them for a crime. they're kind of a loner a lot if the time. 

20. Bonus question: share any additional thoughts, art, favourite scenes, anything you've been waiting for a chance to ramble about 

Oh, I think the way they and Ray met is really funny!!! Nevada was robbing a museum but forgot one of the fancy gems they really wanted, so the next day they return to the crime scene where police are already investigating the robbery. Ray has been called to assist as a detective, so either the cops mistake Nevada for them/they pretend to be Ray and look around for “clues” (they are, naturally, just looking for the gem). And then Ray arrives and like hi who are you. And Nevada extends their hand and goes I'm Ray Andromeda Ace detective hi :) and Ray looks at them and says. no you're not. 

There is a chase scene after that in which Nevada successfully escapes with the gem, and that's how Ray gets obsessed with them. Nevada makes an earring out of it instead of selling it and shows it off whenever they and Ray have a run-in to piss them off <3 

A meta additional thought is that I get their pronouns wrong soooo much because I talk about them with my irl friends a lot and since we don't have gender neutral pronouns I just use he/him so you can too ig. In the story it's supposed to be they/them exclusively but I also don't think they'd care much gender is kind of a chill concept in my beautiful old style sci-fi world. You have Juno Steel to thank for that.

I am so glad that you asked this question! I honestly have a lot of ideas, and I have been wanting an excuse to talk about them for a while. So if you don't mind me rambling for a little bit:

So the first thing that I've been working on is a sequel to the first fic that I uploaded for this MMX rewrite that I've been working on (an AU called Collision Course). I'm trying to get a backlog of 30 chapters together before I release the second part, and I'm on Chapter 20 right now. I wanted to have it released well before this time, but I kept hitting walls with some of the chapters that came before the current one. However, I think I should be good once I reach Chapter 21 (the story will start to reach a point that I've been really excited to work on). I'm hoping to have it out before the end of the month.

@crystalclear365 and I have started planning for this one fic that we decided to write together - I won't go too far into it because we both want it to be a surprise, so all I will say is that I hope you like cooking shows. >:)

I also like to write essays sometimes, and there's been one that's been sitting in my drafts for way too long. I want to have that out by the end of the month, too (it's been a blast working on it, but I want it gone). I have other ideas for essays past that, but I think it would be best if I finally finished this one first.

I also have a bunch of AUs that I've been mentally workshopping for good while. Here are a few that I want to talk about:

There's a slice of life human + modern AU that involves Shadow Man being neighbors with the Wily family, along with shenanigans such as Bass skipping school on a near regular basis, Piano and Waltz (cut characters from the Megamix manga and the Dreamwave comics respectively) being in girl scouts, Snake Man trying to set Shadow up with Berkana, Star Man being a community theater teacher, Wily being a deadbeat (if there's anything most of my AUs have in common, it's that Wily is a terrible father and Shadow Man will adopt nearly all of Wily's kids if you let him), Zero and X being lab partners, Blues being a runaway... there's a lot going on. I'm definitely going to have to make a proper post explaining this one at some point (and not just because I feel like I'll implode if I don't write something for it soon).

I also have a human + zombie AU that has a bunch of lore, so I can't talk about it too much without giving it its own post - so to sum it up, a bunch of the characters from the Mega Man series got turned into zombies during the apocalypse, got found by some scientists that are being led by Gate, got experimented on, got some of their sentience back while losing some of their zombie-tendencies, and escaped. Now it's everyone else's problem. It features events such as Red learning how to love and be less selfish after half-zombie Axl looks at him one day and goes "Yup. that's my dad now.", Shadow Man adopting half-zombie Zero (because of course he does), Snake Man slowly succumbing to the infection because he took too long to amputate his bite (oof), and Lunime trying to convince all the other former infected to rise up against the humans. And the half-zombies can speak to those that are fully infected, while all the humans get to stand around watching like this:🧍‍♂️

I have a vampire AU I haven't put much thought into. I do have a few details though: Red is Axl's biological father in this one, and Axl is half-vampire (Red is human, though. And an ex-vampire hunter. So he's going through it). Blues is a vampire hunter who is really good at his job, but hates doing it. Shadow Man's family act like rejects from the Addams family. Dr. Light is a retired hunter. I want to write a oneshot for Mouthwashing at some point (I saw a playthrough of it not too long ago and I may never be the same (/pos)), but I'm still working out the main plot beats. There's also a bunch of lore I have for my OCs, but to talk about that would take hours (seriously). I have some other oneshot ideas for the Mega Man franchise as well, but I'm saving those for special occasions (one of them I am saving for April Fool's Day. It is November. Bear with me). But uh... yeah! That's about it. Thank you again for asking! I hope I didn't talk too much. 😅

A mixture of them!

I'm staring at the Dreambur AU I have (Strangers Vassal) and wondering if I should post what I had planned for it to look like. I'm struggling a lot with writing it, partially because I don't have a lot of people to bounce ideas off of, partially because it's an AU that would have a lot of fight scenes, something I don't have a lot of experience in and am unsure how to proceed with.

I really enjoy the concept of it, and I want to write for it, but it might once again turn into a bunch of shortfics in a series rather than the longfic I originally wanted. It's disappointing that I can't seem to consistently write longfics, but if I don't accept the limitation I might risk not getting anything done at all, and that's potentially more disappointing.

The Communication Knife AU is almost always on my mind. It's evolved from just pure demons and rotations to being a huge comfort that I can just idly think about throughout the day.

It's really neat, because I started out as a Dream-centric multishipper who wasn't sure if I could vibe with Punz and Sam closing the triangle, but after marinating in the idea, it's now really important to me that they become something too. They grow from two people fighting around their relationship with Dream to something based on trust and blunt honesty and Forgiveness Withoit Forgetting. They can be deeply affectionate with each other in a way thats different from their relationship with Dream. Not bad, not in a way that excludes him, just different.

The AU has also tentatively opened me up to exploring 2nd Gen characters, something I've literally never been capable of before. I have a lot of vague ideas for who gets together post-main story, and how those relationships works and why. Ponk/Foolish/XD is a ship for example, and I've designed a possible child for them? As well as designed Fooshs Totem children? It's always a maybe for if I actually want to give people kids, and it's not really the point of CKAU, it's just really fun to explore the rest of the smp in this sort of fix-it au and how it impacts their lives in the After of it all.

It's also helped me expand my Minecraft Lore and Worldbuilding Bible (how in my headcanon the mineacraft world works and its history/lore, including tying other media's like Hermitcraft and Maricraft to the dsmp to make everything part of the overall world.)

Writing CKAU post-story had also, ironically, made me enjoy benchtrio more, as I get to talk to my friends about their interpersonal dynamics and how they work and how they end up finally at peace. Especially considering Tubbo and Ranboo are bitterly divorced for a long time.

I had a lot of small ideas for a DNB Mass Effect AU in a similar vein to To Tear Asunder being my Dragon Age AU, but I feel really guilty getting into that when I haven't even finished the Philza fic or the Techno fic I have for the latter. I have significantly less people to bounce ideas off of for To Tear Asunder, which is why I struggle with it sometimes.

A lot of my writing in the beginning was done through utilizing my manic moods, but now that I'm better medicated/no longer constantly manic, it's led to me going a lot slower with writing. Demons (PWP stuff) are a lot easier to write, because they require significantly less scene set-up when I can use the sexual act as a template, and being horny-brained isn't particularly difficult.

(Also. No Plot Nessecary. Hence the Porn Without Plot. Plot is really exhausting to write sometimes.)

Obviously it's a lot better for my health that I'm no longer manic, but it's still disappointing that I can no longer work myself into a tizzy and write 30 pages of something (before collapsing and being unable to do anything at all for the next several days.) Give and take and all.

I briefly was very insane about Benchtrio fucking Dream in various ways. I made a whole Teacher/Student AU about it that's in my drafts, god willing I get my new laptop and can finish that up. I really enjoy CNC and bodice ripper type stuff, so it's pretty fun to explore crack AUs where Dream is just trying to be normal and the 3 most abnormal people in the world come into his life.

I'm not really a fan of the Tommy/Dream dynamic where Dream is preying on the Poor Helpless Child, especially because it has a habit of taking itself Very Seriously. I'm not looking for serious and dark and the villainization of Dream. It's a lot more fun for me to explore a strong, confident, and very tired 20-something desperately trying to figure out how to deal with the 17-18 year old being horny on main. Also it's just really interesting to me when the younger character takes advantage of normal social and power dynamics and subvert them so they can have the older character sub.

^I'm not sure if the explanation there is perfect or makes sense but I'm always happy to try to talk more about it if you'd like.

I have a little more of the Warden Hybrid!Dream type stuff in my head that I wanted to write out, mostly just a lot of Porn With Minimal Plot for purely kink reasons. I also have a Dream/Ravager fic I'm supposed to be posting, but God only knows when I can finish it. I need zoomies.

Hi anon!!

I appreciate you reaching out!! In all honestly, English isn’t my first language either lolol. Like majority of us, we’re all still learning 🫠 sadly. (I did explain a bit about advice for getting longer chapter here if you wanna check that post out) But that’s not to say that I haven’t seen improvement in my own writing either. I don’t really have concrete tips a professional might give you, but I do have tips for things that have helped me and could help you improve your writing flow!!

• Organize your story! Of course, you don’t have to do it for all of your stories, but it could really help for those really big projects. Planning out scenes and concepts before even starting to write chapter drafts can help getting an understanding of the direction of the story. If you don’t understand your own story, how would you expect others to do so? It doesn’t have to be neat at all either! Just as long as you have all of your thoughts written out is enough. I’m a bit extreme, and I end up doing graphs, diagrams, and character profiles lolol. I’ve recently started using Lore Forge, and I’m been trying to learn how to use Obsidian (but my god, shit is confusing), so you could always use note organizers for those big stories (but you don’t have to, and it’s not necessary)! At the end of the day, if you want your story to be impactful, getting your story concept/scenes planned out can really be a game changer!

• Music! Music is one of my major inspirations for writing. I always say that art can inspire other’s to create their own art, which is true. Literature, music, ballads, dance— all those things can really impact a person’s creativity. Setting a tone for your story by using music can really get your mind to explore and insert yourself in your writing (or if you prefer setting up collages of images, that can also help too).

• Read more! Whether it’s fan fiction or novels, or even articles, getting an understanding of sentence structures and dynamics can really shape a story up! If you find interesting uses of phrases or words, I recommend noting them down so you could see how you can incorporate it in your story!! Trust, I have a whole bunch of them in my notes up and it really helps a lot! Thesaurus is your best friend!

• Think about sentence structures! Sentence structure is the key to flow! You can describe a simple action in multiple ways. Here’s a quick example from my fic:

“Cooper tilted his head slightly with a smile curling his lips.”

If I were to put it in simple words, it would’ve been: “Cooper tilted his head and smiled.”

Which in itself, it isn’t bad at all!! There are multiple ways you can edit the structure by using compound sentences, complex sentences, periodic sentences, etc.

“Tilting his head slightly, Cooper smiled, curling his lips.”

“Smiling with curled lips, Cooper tilted his head slightly.

“Cooper tilted his head slightly, and a smile curled his lips.

“As Cooper tilted his head, a smile curled his lips.

There are many ways you can play around with sentence structures. The trick is to use all of the types throughout your whole story so it doesn’t become too over repetitive! Some work better in certain scenes, while others don’t. As you improve as a writer, the skill to noting which one of them to use becomes more easier.

• Figures of speech are cool! Ever since I was a child, I was always fascinated by the concept of idioms. I’m autistic, and I tend to take things literally, so it was really hard for me to understand people. But when I was in English class in the first grade, and I learned about figures of speech, I was so enthralled by the whole concept of it! Similes, idioms, metaphors, and personifications are something every writer should include in their stories! It makes everything feel so much more alive, me thinks.

• Read your story out loud! When you’re looking at a screen with words, it becomes sort of difficult to grasp the words in your head (or maybe it’s just me, idk) so having it (preferably someone else) read out loud to you can really help with noticing mistakes. My editor tends to do that for me on call or audio messages, but if you have no one available, something as simple as the Google translate lady can help too lolol. You’ll start to realize how many words you overuse when you hear it out loud. Though, I don’t recommend to overusing an automated voice instead of a human one. At some point, you’re hearing the same automatic sound to the point it numbs your mind. When you have a person/human reading it out loud, you can check if the feeling or emotion of the story is in par with the writing being given.

• Act it out! Now, this could be just a me thing…. So, uhm, I have other mental disorders that causes me to hallucinate and enter a state of psychosis. It can be very dangerous (and I wish I could say im safe, and that I take meds, but that would be a lie. I ran out of them and I don’t have insurance anymore RIP). But I try to use that to my advantage. You’ve heard of actors doing things such as method acting, and it’s sort of like that (only way more intense and actually unsafe if you’re not receiving treatment. Please, if you financially can, seek professional help if you struggle with schizophrenia or any other psychotic disorder. Do NOT do this if you’re not in the right state of mind). I try to use my hallucinations to my advantage by putting myself in the perspective/setting of the character and/or scene I’m writing. You can do something similar by daydreaming the scene, or actually acting it out like it’s a script from a movie. When you’re visualizing a scene or acting out the emotion of the characters, you can actually feel it more clearly. Those surges of emotions and images can really help with writing down the details/emotions you want to describe.

• Live life, and go outside! With everything in mind, the only way you can improve in writing is by experiencing things yourself. Your own experiences and memories can hold as references for your writing. How can you describe the taste of vanilla ice cream if you’ve never tasted it? Sure, you can read about it and hear others describe it, but it won’t hit the same as you describing it from your own experience. Of course, there a certain things you can’t experience because it could be dangerous or illegal (idk what you’re planning on writing), so I say you should opt to doing research on the topic, or much more preferably: talking/listening to people who have gone through those things. Art derives from life.

speaking of ships with no chemistry: Lazuli/Speed/Silvia. theyre all so toxic to each other and Speed has shown clear disinterest in them both for nearly the whole comic. They only got together in the end cuz The Fans Wanted It, completely ignoring stuff like Lazuli/Silvia kissing Speed during a PTSD flashback without his consent. I can go on and on about how much the romance in this comic is bad but I’ll be here all day lmao. I may make a rant about them all in another post in the future

TLDR for that being: most speed ships suck (I see him as aro tbh, Stella was an exception), Black and Pearl also suck but not as much, I’m glad Crystal didn’t get with Trace

Leaf needs more personality, tbh all the girls do. Like seriously name one female character that doesn’t have any major ties to a guy. like even Sunshine has a love interest in Axel and they’re 3/4 years old

I wish the berserker lore made sense. ik EV made it overly complex to Spite The Haters or whatever but I just don’t really get it half the time. in terms of unique stuff ES has like those and the Coastal Eevees or the timeline resets it could’ve been handled a LOT better and made more sense

Shade just sucks as a villain and you can tell he was rushed to give the finale a proper final battle (Special 12B wasn’t meant to be the finale originally if you didn’t know that)

there’s way too many characters and most people can’t even tell the slight differences in appearance as well as I can. like there were people mistaking Blaze (Pearl’s mom, Flareon with the hair swirly thing) and Mollie (Triplets mom, Flareon with a leg missing) as the same person for a while and that isn’t really good for design and story stuff. and like there’s so many characters that show up once and never again until you find out that They Actually Had A Bunch Of Story Relevancy You Didn’t Know Until Just Now! (Shade)

and looking at the drafts for the After Story it doesn’t really answer any questions and just made things more confusing?? and there’s also stuff that I just. refuse to accept as canon. Speed would NOT abandon his daughter for years just cuz “he wants to explore again” yeah he may not be the best father figure in the world but CMON :((

AND SPEAKING OF THAT: there’s way too much Journal only content, which is fine if the average reader knew about all those journals. The stuff from those should’ve really been incorporated into the story sooner, cuz most stuff that’s been established in journals for years only got to shine in the comic at the very end

2- do you and your f/o share any hobbies? what are they? do you see one another as rivals, collaborators, something else? 4- where are your favorite places to go with your f/o? what's your favorite part of that place, or the time you spend together there?

I feel like my answers to most of these are intertwined, so I'm going to answer them both for each character!

Gabrielle: We share everything! She hasn't really kept up on literature for about fifty years, but she scooped me out of an English Degree with a focus on Modern/World War Literature, so we get to catch up on all of that. She likes to explore: her favourite places are high up and quiet and away from humans. When I was still human, he would sometimes carry me to those places in her arms or on her back, but now we can run there together! Those are my favourite : sometimes he wants me to read to him, and sometimes he wants to explore in silence. Sometimes I come with him and sometimes I sit under a tree and read alone, and wait for him to come back to me... so far, he always does.

Lestat: Whereas I usually spend time away from humans with Gabrielle, I spend time with them when I'm with Lestat: bars and concerts and theatre performances. We're not the best theatre companions, since we often don't overlap in our enjoyment, but we go together anyways, and argue afterwards. Which neither of us enjoys. We should really stop going out together. It's better when we stay in and he plays something for me himself, then we both have fun. We also have a lot of fun hunting together, we have compatible styles there.

Louis: Ugh. Not really. I don't like how he treats art as an investment, instead of an end in itself. Often our tastes overlap, but I'm too busy being mad about the way he assesses value to appreciate the fact that he has aesthetic opinions as well. At least we enjoy a lot of the same movies, and we're the two who get into a three-hour discussion after the movie about the Themes (tm). We don't go out together, we're a homebody kind of duo.

Armand: Now, this is someone I can have a good time with at an art gallery. Both of us connect to art on a more emotional level, and I like to go with him and chat about the different eras and mythology. It's not the best thing for him emotionally, but I'm having a great time, so I don't really care. I like Armand less when he's stable, anyways. He's easier to needle when he's a little between the past and present.

Daniel: We eventually figure out that both of us like to bother the others and see what we get out of it, so we start teaming up occasionally. I read a couple of his books and ask him a bunch of questions about his experiences: it's a bit refreshing for him to not have someone digging straight into the worst parts of his life, so we end up having good chats about both of our lives. I text him memes from the other room while he's trying to focus on the interview with the other two.

What's your lore? i've been around a while! i can't date exactly when i started but it was at least sometime in 2008. i Think it was in the late fall of 2007, i've been trying to do the backwards math and i think this makes sense timeline wise, but my memory isn't exactly great. i figured out yesterday i am Pretty sure i was into hetalia before den/nor/ice were released?? which is. wild to me. anyway the story is that i occasionally saw hetalia fanart in passing and i was like. what the fuck is this but i don't care enough to investigate. and then i watched darker than black and was like wow i gotta tell my (now ex-)friend about this new cool anime darker then black b/c i am enjoying it a lot and i think she would too! and then my friend was like "i am going to totally ignore you. watch this thing called hetalia instead. you like other countries and history and languages and shit you should like this it's so funny" and i watched it and i didn't find it as funny as she claimed but i thought the concept itself was utterly Fascinating and i became Obsessed. my initial favs were japan/prussia/estonia initially, all for radically different reasons. i can elaborate on that if prompted it's just more text than i care to put here. then the den/nor/ice dropped and we had some comics with the nordic 5 and i was like oH FUCK these character dynamics between them are So Fun!!! and i have been in Hell every since. this is my third time getting back into hetalia after swearing it off for good and uhhh i think i have just been in denial this entire time that i am stuck here forever. Favorite Hetalia relationship dynamic? Any combination of the Anko Trio without question. they're such an interesting little complicated group. Post a Hetalia sketch or draft you want an excuse to share i am not very good at drawing and draw from the perspective of a more refined 8 year old child or something (positive). but i also don't have anything currently drafted writing wise that feels complete enough either so i am gonna share a dumb doodle i did and also share some upcoming things i plan on doing.

one of the chapters of the SOS sequel is going to be called "The Joy Machine" and i am. very excited about that.

MY OPINION ON;

Character in general: As for the actual character, I think Frisk is a funny case. I don't think I've ever had a favorite UT character, but I always liked how you could just make Frisk your own little thing, y'know? Everyone has always had their own unique take on Frisk as a person, something more than just the character you play as, and that was what made me choose them as my muse back in the day (yeah I did, lore drop). I love kid character and how they're usually morally grey due to being children, it's such a fun thing to explore, and that is basically what Frisk is: your choices determine their alignment.

How they play them: As I already said, every take on Frisk is pretty much unique to the mun that portrays them. And that applies here, because Winter's take on them is very different from how my Frisk used to be. Unapologetically a lovable goofball that is in that fine line between being very memey and being a sweetheart. And they're legit funny too, like I enjoy seeing Frisk interact with all of Winter's other muses because of how well they just bounce off practically anyone while still being a BIT of a menace. Lovable kid!

The Mun: We have not interacted MUCH outside of OOC posts (a running gag for me because I will follow people for months before actually doing anything lol), but Winter's pretty cool. I like reading all of their headcanons and worldbuilding posts because I'm here for all that unapologetic LOVE for our muses. I just love seeing people write a bunch of OOC stuff related to the characters they write and that's what Winter does with their UT muses, especially Frisk and Chara. I also like their unique takes on Chara, btw, I was there back when the character was only ever portrayed as an evil, psychopathic serial killer and the change of pace is nice. Gotta support my fellow underdog-enjoyers!!

Overall Opinion: I could never run a multimuse, I see myself getting close to double digits in drafts and I die, so I admire the people that do. And it's especially cool when they have their own muses interacting with each other, and other people's muses, and creating their own little world. And that's what YOU should expect if you have not checked Winter's blog already! Very active on your Dash, always has something going on with their muses and YOU could be just a mouse press from doing the same. 😎 So yeah, check em' out.

Okay so the reason I went with Frisk, since you suggested it, is because most people that know me these days don't know this… but I used to RP Frisk all the way back in 2015, like during Undertale's very heyday. So Frisk is a character I deeply associate with a time in the RPC in which brand new RP blogs could easily gain a 100 followers in a day; muns hosted IC BGO and CAH sessions on a daily basis; and we were all young and in high school and had all the time in the world to run our blogs.

ANYWAYS, what I'm trying to say here is that I have a soft spot for Frisk beyond the game. Idk, they give me a sense of nostalgia not many muses these days give me. And a lot of your little Dash events take me back to those days as well. We barely know each other but, hey, just wanted to let you know that's another reason I started following you.

I've been thinking about this the last two or three hours but I'm wondering if I should maybe like... Type out some info/lore heavy posts for all of my fics and AUs that I have. Like- I think I typed some crash course type info out on a reblog I did of my intro/pinned post iirc but I'm realizing I could type out like a WHOOOOLE bunch of info in an individual post dedicated to each one

I was thinking like... Maybe I could type out those individual info posts and then maybe add them to queue or something so they don't flood the place but- Yeah. AU/fic infoboxes. Maybe that'd be a cool idea or get some more traffic coming to things? Plus I just really enjoy rambling about my fics and ideas so typing them up could be fun

Celine will not be getting her own listener. She pops up sporadically in other character's playlists as well as the mega episodes where all the characters are bunched up into one audio. She will be interacting with multiple characters and listeners so she'll never be away for too long. She is a married woman and has a loving wife, so there won't be any romancing on Celine's part. That being said, she has two hands, so go wild.

⚜️Where is Glenwood located?

Glenwood is located on the Southern East coast. Not too specific, since I don’t wanna base it off of any real towns!

⚜️I've noticed hints to Abby/Rose/Wielder becoming a canon poly couple, is this true or should I not get my hopes up?

It is canon that the Library Trio will be endgame, we just need to be patient while we get there!

⚜️What is the Endax Chronicles?

The Endax Chronicles will be a prequel series to Glenwood starting in March 2023! It takes place nearly 600 years in the past and will deal with the war between Vampires and Blood Mages. It will be more of a High Fantasy series compared to Glenwood's contemporary style. We've been given hints to this conflict in Rachelle and Celine's audios, but this will reveal the truth.

⚜️Do I need to listen to Endax Chronicles to understand Glenwood or vice versa?

Nope! You can listen to one without needing the other, they should be able to be enjoyed separately.

⚜️Exactly how big do shifters get in their wolf form?

They're considerably bigger than normal wolves, thought not exactly as big as horses. When a shifter is fully transformed, they stand at about the same height as an average person. Certainly not something you want to be on the biting end of, but just about the best cuddle buddy you would ask for.

⚜️Will we ever get Claire/Celine or any other pairing aside from the endgame couples?

Unfortunately not in the canon storyline! But who knows? Some non-canon audios could always be a possibility!

⚜️Will you ever make merch?

Honestly, we haven't seriously considered making merch for the channel since we're still pretty new to the whole content creation business, but if that's something people would want, we can make it a reality!

Transfer everyone to Fire Red, evolve Bulbasaur and breed two babies for the living dex

Reset second Sapphire cart for Latinas. Catch the Latios in Emerald. Transfer a full Hoenn dex into Emerald for one of the Johto starters, then reset. (I bought this Emerald cart and it came with some guy's post game file and a bunch of legendaries) Catch a suitable world pillar and name it Edmond after the OT.

Ugh either beat emerald twice or buy Coliseum and get the other Johto starters and Lugia /Ho-oh that way.

Once I have a complete living dex (minus mythicals and Lugia /Ho-oh probably) make sure it's been transferred into both (main) Sapphire and Fire Red before transferring up to Diamond/Platinum. Save some good battle tower candidates though.

Select some favorites and battle frontier candidates to ev train in fourth ge. Shove the rest up to fifth. Finish living dex as far as possible

Consider buying Black 2 and White 2. 5th gen sucks though, not sure how much I care about forming a battle subway team. There are no ribbons in unova

Maybe I should actually start drafting part of my mcd rewrite instead of making up scenarios in my head and writing down concepts for it in an unorganized notebook also I have never written anything in my life

Im starting with rewatching the ENTIRETY of mcd + mys post s6 + some of the livestreams and mini games to get a sense of like basic plot points character points and world building for it (It’s mystreet and the mini games that’s gonna be painful to rewatch, I’m rewatching mcd s1 and I forget to take notes on it bc of how ridiculous it was initially I love it!). WHILE rewatching jt im taking notes on what I initially see during my rewatch and putting down time stamps for like major exposition on plot charatcer or world, THEN going back and breaking parts of it down to make it make sense and see how that plot point COULD fit in. Mcd s1 is ridiculous cuz it was meant to be a silly little let’s play x roleplay and I don’t blame Jess for how it is bc like it LITERALLY didnt have the intention to go to like mys s6 and all ehehe (fuck mys s6 tho).

THEN from there I’m gonna focus on worldbuilding and establishing the rules for the world, IM SO EXICTED TO ESTABLISH LORE AND HISTORYYYY future history major I love history I loved the divine warriors i love how messy the romeave monarchy probably is

I also want there to be a prelude series into episode 1 which is just the guard academy days for garroth and some other characters (the day garroth decides to join guard academy -> a bunch of events (not in order)including running away and Nicole faking her death + vylad murder + katelyn joining the jo9 + Sasha’s death + genes death + laurance becoming head guard and johs death to sasha + aaron accidentally killing lily and living as a loner (L) + gene coming back and traumatizing dante + Zane’s accession to power -> the day aph spawns into the world

my favourite mtg character

Innistrad 3 spoilers are in full swing, and with the return of Liesa (which is baffling lorewise) and the new Sigarda, Angels are coming to mind for a lot of Magic players. And so it was that this morning, immediately after having read, digested, and theorycrafted said new Liesa that I got to thinking that I should probably write this post I’ve had in mind for a while.

Magic’s lore has a lot of characters at this point, both cooky and cool, comic and tragic. Angels often lean most heavily towards the latter, a result of the religious implications and iconic status of the tribe overall. But today, I’d like to talk about my favourite character in all of Magic, one who, despite being an angel, strikes more a balance between those two archetypes.

She’s an Angel and a Legend, but she’s no Mythic powerhouse. She’s a cool commander, but not overpowered enough to terrorize the table. She’s in one of my favourite colour combinations, one known for Angel decks, but she surpasses the issues a lot of those decks have. Her name is Tiana, and she’s cute and I like her a lot.

Tiana first shows up in Dominaria’s 3rd story article, the creatively named Return to Dominaria: Episode 3. This is not the start of her story, however, and so I’m not going to start there. Rather, her backstory begins one Episode later, starting quite literally with her initial thoughts upon coming into existence.

Angels are kind of a funny thing in Magic lore, at least on Dominaria. They’re supposed to be manifestations of pure White Mana- as in, if you gave a bunch of white mana a face, you’d end up with an angel, and basically no matter how much you messed with it beforehand you’d still end up with an angel in the end. Angels on Dominaria are manifested from the prayers of the people, and come with a lifelong purpose- to protect, and to fight the enemies of evil. This is what Tiana assumes her job is going to be literally from the moment she starts to exist, and she’s filled with the glorious purpose of this design.

This is not what her job is going to be.

Instead, Lyra Dawnbringer, pretty much the boss of the angels on the plane, informs her that she’s instead a Guardian Angel. That’s fine, we’re still on the protection angle, sounds great- oh so she’s guarding the Great Machine. Which is an irrigation system. Yeah, sure, okay. Apparently the mortals of the plane were so devoted to hoping to whatever gods they’re fond of that this thing works that the energies of the plane made an angel to guard it. Not the most glamorous job to have in your sublime existence, but it still seems pretty important, so sure! Why not. Tiana is a little disappointed, but she’s not about to turn around on the literal reason she exists. She gets over it a little, gets suited up, and gets ready to fly to her machine of residence.

The Great Machine is already destroyed when she gets there. Razed to the ground, workers dead to a man, at the hands of the Cabal.

I’d like to bring up quickly, that while Magic story has always been hit or miss, and more miss than hit, the Dominaria story is actively quite good. Like, not just for Magic, just generally a series of really solid stories. Authors often struggle under the weight and restrictions that this kind of writing presents, but Martha Wells does an excellent job making these characters actually pop, even as minor as most of them are.

Tiana eventually finds herself as the chief engineer for the rebuilt Weatherlight, the legendary skyship that serves as the centre for much of 90s Magic Story, and whose reassembly and restaffing is much of the story of the new set. It turns out that a combination of being a guardian angel for a machine, having effectively nothing to do with an immortal life, and being a massive fucking nerd make her perfect for the job. The entire Weatherlight crew are in some way unusual but that style of character teambuilding is usually really great.

And, as a result, Tiana’s character design is a standout apart from the majority of Magic’s angels. She’s kind of like Rosie the Riveter (as the above fanart alludes), the kind of person to be covered in grease stains and wearing overalls than the usual flowing robes and dresses. She wields a spanner just as often as a sword, and actively involves herself in the nitty-gritty rather than watch on from above. In a word, she’s practical.

For how little time she spends in the spotlight, they really do fit a lot of character into Tiana’s package. Her story is one of loss, of holding on hope to the status quo, and learning to move past it when the time comes. Her magically, spiritually ingrained purpose in life is null from the get-go, and the following lack of direction is something I find extremely relatable. She’s also understandably naïve, considering she’s technically extremely young, a trait which is charming when combined with her literal god-given knowledge of history and, eventually, mechanics.

But of course, Tiana is not just a character in a story, but also a functional game piece made of cardboard and ink. Part of the design of Dominaria as a set was a focus on stories and legends, both of the plane’s (and game’s) past and the new characters of the present, as represented by the Historic mechanic and the introduction of the first Uncommon Legendary Creatures since Kamigawa block. For the set, all 10 2-colour pairs got one new Legendary character to build around for both Commander and Draft, with Tiana representing the Red/White Auras/Equipment archetype that supplemented the focus on artifacts that Historic provided. Tiana’s place in draft was a little awkward, seeing as her main ability rarely comes up, but she’s an incredibly interesting card to work with in the EDH format.

She’s been much overshadowed by other cards like Feather at this point, but Tiana is still a reasonably popular Boros commander at 209 decks (at time of writing). It’s a number that screams “underrated” more than anything. She’s one of those excellent designs that lets you use cards that no other deck would possibly want- in this case, cards like Mortal Obstinacy or Capashen Standard, and turn them into powerful value engines. Her one key ability is just such a cool line of text, and one that perfectly suits her character- she fixes that which ends up broken and returns them somewhere safe. It is kind of a shame there aren’t that many cards to make her work, but I’m more than willing to try to do it.

…eventually. I haven’t actually built her a deck yet.

But that’s pretty much it. Tiana, Ship’s Caretaker is a card and a character I really, deeply enjoy, as she’s both relatable and fun and funny and interesting. With as iffy as Magic plotlines tend to be, it’s kind of a surprise for a character to be so resonant, especially considering what recent offerings have looked like. She’s the coolest Angel in the game, and I will fight the Avacyn/Akroma stans on that one.
