Find the word tag
Thank you to @imintheunderworld for tagging me in this (via @thesteamgoth). I tag @cassandra-yannu-writes @sarmarble @moondust-bard @antique-symbolism @awkwardexistencewrites @the-midwrite-oil @merielleswriting @megxnswrites @canallynwrite @starchaser3587 (no pressure tho!) Your words are: tension, pale, sun, wind and nature
Tension: No words for this.
Pale:
Before her was a husk of the young woman she knew who went by the name of Karishma Singh. She was incredibly thin; gaunt looking, with dark circles under her eyes. Her skin was pale too, and there were these puncture marks scattered across her body.
No…
Iara ignored the pain that continued to take root in her chest and got up onto her feet.
“Kari,” Iara sobbed. Holding back the urge to clasp the woman into a hug.
Sun:
Cailean was in shock. Though it wasn’t veins, golden as the sun against her olive skin which caused him shock. He was shocked at her reactions. The way those veins pulsed and throbbed against the surface of her skin. The scrape of her fingertips across the surface of the wall, brick breaking as she clawed at it. The straining of her neck and back as she twitched and twitched and twitched. The sight was familiar; something he endured every full moon.
Wind:
The woman with the crown shook her head, looking ahead. Their eyes met and Aliskandariya felt her heart jump, but the pitter patter of that heart of hers calmed when she shook her head.
“No not one us.” She sighed. “She who we feared dead.”
And then they were whisked away with a gust of wind; their image crumbling to dust until Aliskandariya was back in that temple again, trembling but not alone. A woman made in fire loomed above. She had curly hair tied back from her slim face. She reached towards Aliskandariya.
Nature:
“You wouldn’t understand. I don’t have the luxury of being the daughter of a High Council Member, who can break as many rules as I want.” Iara raised her voice; the volume she noticed called several residences to their windows to see what was going on. Her fae nature relished in the shock on their faces that such a bellow could come from her.
“Listen here Selkie. It’s your call. You know where to find me if you decide Karishma’s life is worth saving.” The dial tone went, signalling that she had hung up. Iara looked at the phone, and shoved it in her pocket.

A big thank you to the amazing @arwallace for tagging me. Sorry it took so long to post this one. I shall tag @arwallace back, along with @cassandra-yannu-writes, @luna-evans-writes, @sarmarble, @the-midwrite-oil, @megxnswrites, @antique-symbolism, @lyntries, @allyn-racki and anyone else who wants to take part. As usual: do not feel compelled to take part if you don’t want to.
Here is a line from the current rewrites of AMOT, from Cailean’s POV:
He felt a soft touch on his other hand. The brush of cold metal, then burning. His ears picked up the sound of trickling liquid as it fell into something ceramic. The metallic scent of blood reached his nose, and he looked down.

An Excerpt from Chapter 10
“Do you even know what a Pyranyx is?” Cailean asked as he turned to Aliskandariya. She clenched her lips together, not a single word falling from it. He couldn’t believe it.
“You don’t know.” He shook his head. How did she not know? He opened his mouth and then closed it. What could he possibly tell her? That she was this creature of ash and blood; A girl with a Phoenix living inside of her. No, that didn’t really explain what they were. His grandmother knew. But Cailean couldn’t string the words coherently, all that filled his mind were snippets of the stories his grandmother told him; of the Pyranyxes’ role as Guardians of the unprotected, the victims of the Council’s failures.
“Do you know what I do know?” She asked, and Cailean was pulled out of his thoughts by the hard edge to her voice, and looking at her he noticed the fury bubbling in her eyes. “That there’s something…” she paused and moved her hand up until she rested it in the middle of her chest. “There’s this thing inside of me. And it burns.” She took a deep breath. “It burns and burns and burning won’t stop. I just want it to sto—” She coughed.
Her arms were shaking as she moved them up to cover her mouth with her palm. Her veins were pulsing against her skin once more, in that orange light they usually exuded, though rather than continue, it flickered, in time with the little twitching movements her body made. That’s how she’d been the past few hours. They would glow orange, her neck would twitch, and her veins would go back to blue. Moments late she would twitch again, perhaps her wrist and then her veins would be orange once more until they turned back to blue following another twitch. And the cycle would repeat, just like that, for hours.
“Aliskandariya.” Karishma looked to Cailean as she stopped what she was doing and proceeded to rubbing the girls back as her coughs continued. She had moved onto her knees, the coughing continuing as she pressed her forehead against the concrete, as if that would help alleviate whatever she was suffering with. She managed to look up at him between those coughs of hers to force a garbled mess of words out of her mouth. As much as a garbled mess those words were, he had been able to decipher the question she had asked.
Why are you looking at me like that?
Iron wafted up his nose. She sat up, wiping against her mouth with her sleeve, but she couldn’t hide the blood which stained her lips. Why was she coughing up blood? Unless… the rapid change of her veins, the twitching. He knew he had recognised the sight three days ago; he recognised those symptoms. They were similar to those wolves; those bitten, not born who rejected the change, and it never ended well for them. That was the only explanation behind her pale skin, the dark circles under her eyes, the flickering of her veins and the twitching. It all made sense now
“You’re changing.”

So without further ado:

Aliskandariya slapped her palm against her neck; the roughened skin stinging upon impact. She reacted too late.
“It’s the same one that’s on the news.” The woman sputtered.
“I beg your pardon?” Aliskandariya glared. A glare which did nothing to quell the woman’s staring.
“The same one. Plastered all over the news. Your,” she gestured to Aliskandariya’s neck. “It’s the same one thats on the bodies.”
Aliskandariya froze, and swallowed a lump that formed in her throat. She knew now what the woman was referring to, and she refused, completely refused to believe that there was such a link. Aliskandariya shook her head.
“Merely a coincidence.” She uttered as she pushed herself past the woman, out the door and towards the exit of the GP Surgery.
On her walk home she raised her hand again, tracing her fingertips across the jagged edges of her scar.
“There’s no way—“
She shook her head.
Just a coincidence.

Daughter of Fire Excerpt #1
Please let me know what you think. Here’s a little snippet from Chapter 14. If you would like to be tagged in these as I post them, please let me know and don’t hesitate to reach out :)
“I think the Guardian flew too far from her mother’s nest,” Aliskandariya trembled as the whispered words entered her ears, not knowing who uttered them. She was then kicked in the side of her ribs and roughly pushed onto her back, her gaze falling over the face of her offender.
Her form froze - It can’t be – mouth falling open, a gasp stuttering out and then lips tightly closed as her body was once again overtaken by the scorching sensation. Horror didn’t begin to describe the emotional state Aliskandariya found herself in when her eyes gazed upon the grotesquely familiar face of –
“Markus!” she hissed, “Leave me alone, unless you want anot - ”
Aliskandariya back arched and she grimaced in pain but continued to watch his face, feeling reassured - her lips quirking up at the corners slightly at the confusion written all over Markus’ face as his eyes narrowed in concentration; his eyes moving quickly over her form.
