How Exocytosis Works from Cell A to Cell B
When a nerve signal reaches Cell A, calcium (Ca²⁺) enters, causing vesicles with neurotransmitters to move. The vesicles release neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft (the gap between cells). These neurotransmitters then bind to receptors on Cell B, passing the signal along. After releasing the neurotransmitters, Cell A recycles the vesicles for future use. This process helps neurons communicate quickly and efficiently.

BarryTheo meeting :3
Theo accidentally reads Barry’s mind. Then projects Barry’s own secret identity into his brain.
Nerds
It was hot outside, so warm that Theo regretted wearing a long sleeved shirt, and long pants, and kept their labcoat on while going outside during their break. They fanned themself as they walked into their favorite smoothie place, wanting to cool down with a quick cold fruity drink before having to go back to work. MRI machines and other technology were already unbearable to be around, but with the heat outside there was no escaping it even outside of their research station.
They sighed in relief and stood in the doorway of the smoothie shop for a bit, basking in the cold air the airco blasted right into their face.
Theo managed to eventually rip themself away from the cold and was delighted to find that the rest of the establishment was also kept cool.
Another lucky break was there only being one other customer, a blond guy covered in sweat as if he’d been exercising in the heat outside. Judging by the running shoes, he probably had been. Theo stood behind him in line and he turned to look at them with a smile and sparkling blue eyes that made Theo weak in the knees.
“The cashier is just making my smoothie, don’t worry! I’m sure she’ll be back soon.” He told them.
Why did I say that
It drifted through their mind, they suppressed a giggle. It would be unbecoming to laugh at something that had never been said out loud.
“Well I have plenty of time left on my lunch break so I can wait.” They replied, watching as the guy in front of them glanced at his watch when they mentioned ‘lunch break’
Shit, Singh is gonna kill me.
“Oh yeah? What kind of work do you do?” Theo was so busy scolding themself for letting their power get out of control that they almost didn’t notice this really cute guy asking them a question about their life.
“I’m a neuroscientist over at CCU.” They said, not managing to keep the slight bragging from slipping into their voice. And screw it, they could be proud of what they did. Especially when the cute guy beamed a smile like that again.
“Wow really? That’s so cool…” He faltered.
damn, I don’t even know her name
“Theo.” They picked up for him and grabbed his hand to shake.
“Barry.” Barry said and shook their hand with a grin.
“So what do you do Barry, other than running outside in 80 degrees weather?”
They asked, but was unable to pay attention to his answer, or the totally adorable fluster dusting his cheeks.
A rush they couldn’t describe other than their whole body being turned into an electric current of pure adrenaline ran through their body. Flashes of the city filled their mind, lightning, adrenaline.
All they could realize in that moment was that the cutest guy they had ever seen was the Flash. The fastest man alive.
“What- how do you-” Barry sputtered, eyes flitting around the small business. His mind was going into overdrive, so many questions piling onto each other that Theo had the urge to plug their ears despite knowing it wouldn’t work.
Is she a meta? Is she a villain? If she’s a meta what are her powers? Where is my smoothie at?
Theo sighed, there really was no reason to hide this any longer. Silently, so the waitress who was supposedly still making that smoothie couldn’t hear, Theo answered the questions he hadn’t quite asked.
“Yes I’m a meta. No I’m not a villain. I thought my power was just telepathy but it turns out I also have something like projection?”
Theo hummed, they would need to test this further, but there was a limit on how much they could use hospital lab equipment for own use before their boss would get suspicious.
“And yeah, your smoothie is taking way too long to make.”
At the admission that Theo wasn’t evil and probably wasn’t going to spread the news that Barry was the Flash, the man physically relaxed again.
“Okay, okay I take it you can’t control it very well?” Usually a question like that would get them riled up, eager to prove someone wrong. But Barry was just too genuine, he hadn’t meant it maliciously in the slightest, just sheer interest in their telepathy.
“Yeah, I’ve only been able to do it for a month, controlling it is hard, I constantly have to focus to keep my own mind in its place, so to speak.” She sighed and Barry shot them a compassionate look.
At that moment, right as Barry was about to say something else, the waitress came back from the kitchen, smoothie in hand. The teenager had plastered on a smile but Theo could hear her mind say something along the lines of ‘fuck, another customer’
Barry swiftly took his bright pink smoothie and Theo took his place in the front of the line to ask for a cherry-blueberry-delight.
When the teenager retreated back into the kitchen to no doubt spend another ten minutes making the smoothie, Barry smiled at them.
Here goes.
Oh no.
“So I’m studying important dates in history, do you want to be one of them?”
Theo giggled and could feel their cheeks heating up.
“Oh my gosh-“ is all they could say, before Barry took that as a yes. Which it was! For the record. He’s super cute.
He disappeared from plain sight the next second, all evidence that Barry had been there a second ago was Theo’s hair blowing into their face.
And when Theo looked at the counter where a couple of napkins were flying around from the sudden gust of wind there was a phone number neatly scrawled onto a coaster.
‘Call me!!! -B.A.’

So uhhhh. This isn’t good.

For context, NIH study sections review and approve grant and fellowship funding for federally funded health and medicine research—aka, most of the health research that’s done in the United States. This includes research funds as well as salaries and funding for student researchers/pre and post docs at most US universities.
If you’re American, PLEASE contact your representatives about this. This has the potential for a devastating impact on health research not just for the US, but for the entire world. I expect we’ll have more information in the morning, but for now, I’d just urge them to do whatever they can to get this reversed ASAP.

By the way, even if you fully plan to vote for Biden in November (because Trump would be worse and has declared that if elected he would ban Palestinians from entering the US x, x, x, x)...
You can and I would argue should call or email Biden or whatever other Democrats represent you and just straight up lie about it. Tell them "I'm a constituent, and I've voted for you in x number of elections, and thanks to your support for the genocide of the Palestinian people, I will never, ever vote for you again."
Politicians, Democrats, and especially Biden need a fire lit under their asses, because the vast majority of them clearly aren't going to do shit without one. Or, worse, be like Biden and actively be the reason that Israel can continue its genocide on a political, monetary, and military level.
Tell Biden and other politicians that you will never vote for them again. It doesn't matter if it's true. It will help pressure US politicians to stop this genocide, and therefore it's the right thing to do.
Obviously this also applies to other countries where politicians are supporting Israel's genocide, especially countries that have cut funding to UNRWA (list here).

kind of crazy how, if you express the opinion that running a wen supervisory office during the sunshot campaign is not a remotely neutral position and wen qing is thus not a complete innocent, someone will come out of the woodwork and go "oh so you think she should have been killed???? you think her entire family should have been abused and killed?????"
not what i said. that's a new sentence. come on man.

How Neurons Communicate: Signal Transmission at the Synapse
When a nerve signal reaches the end of a neuron, it cannot jump to the next cell directly. Instead, it triggers the opening of calcium channels, causing neurotransmitters to be released into the synaptic cleft. These neurotransmitters cross the gap and bind to receptors on the next neuron, either activating or blocking a new signal.

"If I wanted to watch HTTYD shot for shot then I'd watch the original" then don't. Watch the live action? What do you want me to say?? Everybody complains when a live action is too different from the original, now y'all are complaining that it's too similar? Idk about you all but I much prefer a live action that's faithful to the original instead of wildly veering off course to the point where it muddies the message of the original film (sideeyes Lilo & Stitch). I guess there's no way to make everyone happy with these huh
