This initiative is actually so important. Maybe it’s just me but I feel that this cause is targeted towards an older crowd then what One Direction is usually targeted to. This video is mature and professional and they link to a website which you could participate on. Action 1D is linked with Action2015. To be more clear about what meeting they are talking about it is a G7 meeting which include the following countries:
United States
United Kingdom
Germany
France
Italy
Japan
Canada
In the meeting they will be discussing important topics that affect everyone around the world. The results could mean a better world to live in.
One of the most important topics they will be talking about it climate change. By the end of the 21st century they are looking to phase out the use of fossil fuels and move on to clean energy. They are stressing the importance of deep cuts to greenhouse gas emission. These emissions melt ice caps and glaciers, rise sea levels which in turn cause major storms and floods.
They will also be addressing how they would like to handle the Islamic State and Russia/Ukraine.
Other Topics:
Protection of the marine environment, marine governance and resource efficiency
Antibiotic resistance, neglected and poverty-related diseases, and Ebola
Retail and supply chain standards
Empowering self-employed women and women in vocational training
A political movement is a great way to get younger people active in politics which will shape our future. You are the voice of your country don’t let your leaders forget that.

The United Nations is launching a global campaign with a media blitz and an array of stars from Beyonce to Usain Bolt to spread news to everyone in the world about its new goals to eradicate poverty, fight inequality and combat climate change.
The campaign is scheduled to begin on Sept. 25 when world leaders are expected to adopt the 17 goals at a U.N. General Assembly summit.
Film writer and director Richard Curtis, who is leading the campaign, told a news conference Thursday that he wants to make these new goals "much more famous and much more well-known" than the eight U.N. Millennium Development Goals adopted at a summit in 2000 which they will succeed.
To reach the world in a week, Curtis said the campaign is engaging every pillar of modern communications from schools to churches to radio, television, film and all online formats - and it is partnering with sports clubs, public figures, global brands, cinema advertisers, artists and grassroots organizations to get the message out by Oct. 2.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in his final report that the MDGs helped lift more than one billion people out of extreme poverty over the last 15 years, enabled more girls to go to school than ever before, and brought unprecedented results in fighting diseases such as HIV/AIDS. But he stressed that inequality remains, with 80 percent of the people still living on less than $1.25 a day located in southern Asia and sub-Saharan Africa.
The new goals, which have 169 specific targets, range from ending poverty "in all its forms everywhere" to ensuring quality education and affordable and reliable energy, and protecting the environment. They are and will remain officially called the Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which one journalist at the press conference called an "ugly and horrible name."
But Curtis, the co-founder of Comic Relief who is responsible for movies including "Four Weddings and a Funeral" and "Bridget Jones' Diary," has rebranded the name for the campaign, calling them Global Goals, with the words "for Sustainable Development" in small print.
"I think for younger people the Global Goals will be easier," he said, but adding in sustainable development means "we have our cake and eat it too."
Curtis said the campaign - with the motto Tell Everyone - tries to make the complicated new goals "fun, bright, entertaining, interesting" to get the world's attention.
Among the highlights are the first-ever global cinema ad, narrated by actor Liam Neeson; a seven-day pop-up global radio station on the goals streaming online, with an original soundtrack composition by Peter Gabriel; 101,000 billboards from New York's Times Square to Piccadilly Circus in London and The Tower in Kuala Lumpur; and a song to inspire African youth by the continent's top artists.
Curtis said the world's top digital giants including Google, YouTube, Wikipedia, Yahoo and Tumblr will be pushing the goals online. A festival in New York's Central Park on Sept. 26 to promote the goals will be headlined by Ed Sheeran,Beyonce, Coldplay and Pearl Jam. And people can join sports stars like Gareth Bale and Gary Linekar in a game called Dizzy Goal and add their voice to Bill and Melinda Gates, Meryl Streep, One Direction and many others, all online to support Global Goals.
What a great way for One Direction to get their name out there, more attention to action/1D, and positive associations with their efforts and other artists/stars to show their efforts aren’t alone but part of a concerted goal. Thank you for being a part of this great campaign!

The boyband have launched the action/1D manifesto for the future, which is asking their fanbase to describe the kind of world they want to live in by sharing powerful and emotive pieces pictures and video.
The campaign is part of action/2015, a global citizens’ movement united by the idea that 2015 can be the year to tackle some of the world’s most crucial problems.
The aim is to pressure world leaders into making big commitments to the causes at two summits, one which is being held New York in September, and a second in Paris this December.
Other stars such as Shakira, Ben Affleck, Bill Gates, Bono and Malala Yousafzai have already pledged their support for action/2015.
Speaking about their involvement, the One Direction boys said: “Time and again our fans have shown how creative and powerful they can be when they unite and that’s why we want to all join together to speak out and hopefully make a real and lasting change to the world around us. “Young people really do have the power to help end poverty, tackle inequality and to stop dangerous climate change. Now is the time for us to unite, take action and raise our voices to show that we care about the future of our planet.”
Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Liam Payne all also star in a campaign video, appealing to fans to join the movement.
Brendan Cox, Director of Policy and Advocacy at Save the Children, part of action/2015, adds: “One Direction is the biggest band in the world and by mobilising the millions of young people in their fanbase they’ll shine a light onto the most important issues of our time. UN processes are normally worthy but dull. We hope One Direction’s work will make this year’s key summits not only worthy but a matter of public excitement. Only with that public engagement will whatever is agreed actually get put into practice. “This really can be the generation which changes the future for the better.”

You have an opinion and it’s valid, you have a voice and it deserves to be heard. 1DHQ has the power to make your voice heard and they are using it. Please, please, please, make use of this occasion to speak up and get heard.
“Equal rights and social justice are important. LGBT-rights are important. We pride ourselves on living in free societies, where it’s not okay to condemn people for features they have no control over. Those are our values, but we haven’t achieved what we wanted, yet. LGBT* people are in danger for their lives, and discriminated against, all over the world, still. Ethnic differences are cause for strife, and ethnicities erased to ‘fit in’, all over the world, still. And young teenage girls are taught their opinions, their fantasies, their wishes, have NO value, all over the world, still.
I am not here to ‘prove’ Louis and Harry are in a relationship. I already know that they are, and when people have asked me why I believe such or so, I have been happy to oblige them, teaching them a little bit about theory of knowledge, and about reasoning, in the process. But that’s not why I am here.
I am here because I know a free society needs lots of work. Freedom of speech, the right to privacy, equal rights: you can’t just say “we’ve said it’s important in our constitution and our human rights covenants, so have them, it’s fine” and sit on your ass and do nothing and wait for everything the generations before us achieved to disintegrate again. It takes special attention to hold up those values in every aspect of our lives, it takes people speaking up for them when we see they are being trodden, anywhere, by anyone. The bad guys are not just dictators in ‘developing countries’ and the semi-dictatorial regime in Russia. The bad guys are everywhere, and we are the bad guys when we don’t say anything about it, because in the end “all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” (Edmund Burke, British politician)”
^^^^ Probably the most important paragraphs I have ever written on this blog. I wanted to get them out again today to encourage everyone to take part in this FANTASTIC ACTION by 1D by addressing the importance of non-discrimination across the board (LGBTQ+, ethnicity, gender, age,...) for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the next 15 years. You have an opinion and it’s valid, you have a voice and it deserves to be heard. 1DHQ has the power to make your voice heard and they are using it. Please, please, please, make use of this occasion to speak up and get heard. World Leaders need to hear what you have to say because they never hear voices from people like you. This is so incredibly important. For you, and for people who are left behind all over the world.
All social change comes from the passion of individuals.
— Harry Styles. (@Harry_Styles)

Show them your passion about the injustice of social inequalities, and of the importance of tackling climate change for our futures. Infect them with it. The banks won’t, only you can!

World Bank & Global Earth Day Fanaccount
Hello everyone! Earlier we received a message asking if any of the admins here at taek-squad had attended the events held in Washington, DC that VIXX performed at. Unfortunately most of the admin team was unable attend due to distance from the venues, however, Admin Shell is here to give a short fanaccount from her experience.
For those of you who are not aware, VIXX was invited to perform as special guests in Washington, DC this past weekend for the #EndPoverty #Action2015 event hosted by and at the World Bank Headquarters on Friday. They were also asked to be special guests for the Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day event held at the National Mall on Saturday, April 18th.
Friday, April 17th - World Bank Event
I don’t want to make these fanaccounts too irrelevant to VIXX, I’ll just try and sum up everything else that doesn’t pertain to them specifically.
Waiting for the event to actually start took about two hours worth of queuing in front of the venue. Along with VIXX, there were three others artists who performed– Roy Kim, Fally Ipupa, and D’Banj.
While waiting for the speakers on various parts of the #Action2015 campaign to arrive, they played music by each of the artists including VIXX’s Hyde, Light Up the Darkness, and Eternity. During these songs, many of the Starlights who were attending the event began dancing and singing along, others contributing to the fanchants, particularly for Hyde.
VIXX was the second artist to perform, and they opened with their ever so popular song On and On. At first I thought they would be performing Error because those were the stage outfits that they were wearing, but clearly I was wrong. But wrong in a good way. So while they did their thing, a lot of Starlights were diligently screaming fanchants while also fighting to capture the performance on whatever technology they had on them. I myself managed a few small clips.
As soon as they finished performing, the did their introductions. Of course they started with their group introduction ( Real V! V! I! X! X! VIXX! ). In order of introductions was Ravi, Leo, Hongbin, Ken, N, and Hyuk. Because there was a lot of screaming, I couldn’t really hear what each member said but the gist of what I remember is…
Ravi: Hello, I’m VIXX’s rapper Ravi. Nice to meet you. Leo: I’m VIXX’s Leo. Nice to meet you. ( I’m pretty sure that’s what he said.. Too many screams, and he was speaking super soft as usual. ) Hongbin: Hello, I’m Hongbin. ( Fun fact: While Hongbin was doing his introduction, Leo had turned around to mess with something. At first I was like “Oh my god, did he leave his fly down again?!” because I saw him messing with his pants, but then I leaned over a bit and saw that he was just tucking back in his shirt while also maybe readjusting? Yeah. ) Ken: Hello, I’m ……. Ken. Nice to meet you. ( I’m going to assume he said something about main vocal. Again, too much screaming. ) N: Hello, I am VIXX’s leader N. Hyuk: Hi, I am Hyuk. Thank you for inviting us.
After their individual introductions, Ravi went and introduced their next song. ( Ravi: The next song is Light Up the Dark ) This is where we cue all the crazy screaming, because wow did everyone seem excited for this song. Not that I would blame them because I was super excited too. After they perform LUTD, that’s when they left and Roy Kim was on after them. Here’s a link to the World Bank #Action2015 website where you can watch the whole concert. Bogus points to those of you who can spot me!

Another thing that I want to mention is why exactly VIXX and Roy Kim specifically were asked to come perform for this event. Jim Yong Kim, the president of World Bank Group, gave a small speech about how poverty is an issue everywhere, and he talked specifically about how it was very prevalent in South Korea when he was growing up. He mentioned how S.Korea went from being one of the poorer, less well off countries to one of the most bustling capitals in the world. His following statement as an introduction for VIXX and Roy Kim was that “these young men all grew up in a very different kind of Korea than I did.” Further on he also mentioned how both artists successfully fought their way from the bottom with nothing to where they are now, much like S.Korea. In a way, he was comparing and relating it back to the whole idea of poverty, and how individuals (countries) can always work their way up from the worst situations and make something better out of it. ( Note: If you didn’t know, Roy Kim was the winner of Superstar K4 and had beat out over two million other applicants. VIXX, as most of you should know, went through their reality program MYDOL and worked through the elimination process to make their way to debut. )
Satuday, April 18th - Global Citizen Earth Day Event
So, quick little run down of the morning. I live on campus at my college which isn’t too far from Washington, DC. That’s why it was easy for me to attend both of these events. Now, considering that the event started at 11 AM that day and the performance lineup wasn’t revealed, I had NO idea when VIXX would be performing. So that means I naturally would just go as early as possible and just sit through the whole event because yeah. I had to leave school and hop on a bus at 8 AM just to catch the Metro and commute another 45 minutes to get to the National Mall. So my morning as pretty hectic.
Even though I like to think I got there at a pretty decent time, I’m sure there were people camping out Friday night, maybe even before that because the artists that were attending the event were big names like Fall Out Boy, Usher, and Train, just to name a few. I still managed to find myself a decent spot to set up my picnic blanket and chill out with my friends. Around 100 feet or so away from the actual stage. Not bad am I right? Waiting for the event to start wasn’t all that bad, There were a lot of speakers, and Will.i.am was MC so that was cool.
VIXX was the first artist to go on. I don’t remember them doing an introduction, but I was too busy getting my camera ready to record the performance tbqh. They only performed one song and that got me really bummed out, but that’s okay. They performed Error, and goodness it was great to watch. Minus the fact that the camera crew kept constantly zooming in on the fans during the highlights of the song.
Yeah, I had a good seat, but good enough to where I didn’t have any camera cranes in my way u.u; One really cool thing though with the camera filming fans was that they caught a lot of wonderful signs. My personal favorite was the poster fanart of each member during Error. I’ll include the link to the performance down below so you guys can see it too.
But apart from their short performance of one song, there wasn’t really anything else to say. They left the stage as soon as they were done, and I honestly thought they were just going to peace right on out of there until later on in the day when I was watching Usher’s performance. I swore I was seeing things, but I somehow spotted Hyuk and Hongbin being the little fanboys that they are as they stood watching the rest of the performance. It was cute. I didn’t do any creepy stalking because I figured they were just as excited as I was to see a foreign artist that they like performing.

And I do believe that’s all I have to say about my experience from this past weekend. It was definitely a very enjoyable experience. I was glad that I was able to see VIXX again considering the first time I saw them was at their mini concert at Otakon in 2012, which, by the way, was their very first time ever in America. They’ve definitely grown and improved a lot since then, and I can say I’m very proud of everything they’ve accomplished in these going on three years. Hopefully I didn’t write so much that you guys fell asleep reading this!

Action 1D Project
I think it would be nice to get the boys to actually see that we are supporting them in the Action 1D initiative.
I know a lot of people like to bring signs to the shows so I think it would be nice to bring an Action 1D inspired sign to the shows.
“I would like to live in a world where.... healthcare is available to everyone everyone has access to clean water...ect #Action1D”
Something short and on par with what the initiative is about.
Along with what louistomlinton said: Get #Action1D trending on twitter and watch the videos that the boys have posted.

It has been brought to our attention that there have been some statements published claiming that One Direction wasn't doing enough by calling out to their fans to address world leaders about the changes they want seen in the world. That the band and/or the boys individually should have offered more of their own time and money to take on their own initiatives to make these changes themselves. Those of us in the One Direction fandom know how much time, money, and effort they put towards charity as a band as well as individually with little to no regard of how much press they receive for it, but those of us with action1dproject feel that action/1D was actually a very important step for the band as well as those who were called upon to participate. Change in the world has to start with ourselves, but one voice alone is not enough. When one voice is heard and built upon to be 10, then 100, then 1000, or as high as 77,756, which is how many actions were received on the official site, THAT is where the power lies. One Direction helped give us a platform to have our voices heard by not only each other and the band's team, but by some of those leaders who can help implement changes on a larger scale. They helped teach us no matter our age, race, gender identity, sexual identity, or nationality, that we are important and we have a right to have our opinions heard. We are the future. You are the future. If we believe we have no voice, no say, no opinion, no way to make a difference then how can we work to make the world a better place than it is today? Action/1D helped us remember and/or learn that we do have a voice. Our opinion is important. We might not be the usual demographic looked to for thoughts on how to improve issues such as equality or climate, but we do have ideas and we can help. Thank you to all of you who participated and thank you to One Direction for giving us the place to begin to understand how powerful we can be if we just speak up.

VIXX only performed one song `Error` for the Global Citizen Earth Day 2015 event. Please don’t be disappointed. It’s an event to #EndPoverty. Anyway, proud of the boys to perform on such a charitable event! It’s for a good cause!
