"Autistic people aren't worried about other people's feelings" well that's big fucking news to me considering how I'm anxious 24/7 about accidentally annoying everyone I ever meet
#autism stuff#i care! i just have no idea what's going to piss people off or why and they won't bloody TELL me

Being autistic and having a learning disability isn't very much talked within the online autism community. There are also mythes that are allowed to be up.
The mythes i am talking about are the stereotypes that autistic people are good at math, that autistic people are very intelligent, that we are gifted people. And that's wrong, that's overgeneralization.
I get that some autistic people are good at math, are highly intelligent or more intelligent than the average autistic, are gifted, but there are also autistic people who aren't good at math. Some autistic people who aren't intelligent, some who aren't gifted. There are autistic people who aren't good at everything because of their autism, because of many reasons.
For me, my reason for not being good at math is because i have Dyscalculia. That means that i basically suck ass at everything that's above grade 2 level math. Even some basic math questions i can mess up on, can do completely wrong. Because mental math is a struggle for me because of my memory issues.
So, when i see people saying that we're all gifted and not academically challenged in any shape or form, i do not like it. I feel left out by what they say. And i of course don't like feeling isolated. No one does.
Please stop perpetrating harmful stereotypes. I thought we were all past this but i guess not.

How come my autism makes me bad at picking up social cues but I can also correctly guess if someone has autism before they tell me?

Me, confidently: I am autistic. So I don't always understand social rules. That is totally okay, it is part of my disability. I shouldn't beat myself up for that.
Also me when I don't understand social rule: I AM ACTUALLY WORTHLESS JUST LET ME ROT IN MY APARTMENT FOREVER WHY DO I EVEN HAVE TO GO OUT AND DO THINGS EVERYBODY HATES ME

Autism Moms™️: low support needs autistics should stand up for high support needs autistics like my child
Me: you're right- I think it's really important for those of us who can advocate for ourselves to also advocate for people who share our experiences but can't discuss them. Let's talk about how society denies autonomy to non-speaking autistics, or how even those who are most in need of support aren't getting what they need
Autism Moms™️: NO NOT LIKE THAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO TELL ME I'M RIGHT AND YOU ALL WISH YOU WERE NORMAL

Anyone else like the autism symbol that Kaelynn Partlow proposed?

The puzzle piece symbol is often linked to organisations like autism speaks and eugenics groups, and I don't really want to use it because of this. It can also imply that autistic people are ill and need to be 'fixed'. However it is the most commonly recognised autism symbol and a lot of autistic ppl like it so if you want to explicitly show autism or if you like it then it's a good one to use.
The rainbow infinity symbol is considered a good alternative in the autism community as it shows that there are many ways to be autistic and inspires inclusivity. I personally like this one. However it is arguably a symbol for neurodivergence at large and not specific to autism and it can imply that autistic people have wildly different everything without need for a common factor and for me thats not great as it kinda leans into the 'everyone is a little autistic' narrative in a way.
I really like the fingerprint autism symbol as it shows that all autistic people have a unique experience of autism without leaning into the 'everyone is a bit autistic' narrative. I like to imagine it as all autistic peoples autism having a lil fingerprint on it that's unique and marks it as theirs. However, this symbol isn't as recognised as the other 2 as a lot of people haven't heard of it.
Honestly just use whatever you want depending on your goals and preferences.
Idk just some thoughts

Y'all wanna know what's so fucking cool about figuring out you're aroace?
It's that, after, when like the adrenaline is over and it all *clicks* you finally FINALLY breathe. Nothing's changed, you're the same person as before, you just keep on living like you've always done and just continue being you.
So what actually changed? The expectations you put on yourself, the "i gotta try and learn how to behave like a person that could potentially feel those types of attractions and try to relate to people that do" when you don't and you can't. Yk how fucking exhausting it is, not only masking to fit in with the neurotypicals, but also masking to fit in with the allo people??
I👏Need👏A👏Fucking👏Break👏
And knowing i'm aroace kinda (even tho it shouldn't be a requirement) gives me permission to just be. Like NO MORE FUCKING EXPECTATIONS, I'M DONE PRETENDING AND ANALISING THE SHIT OUT OF EVERY INTERACTION I HAVE. Please i just want to liveeeeee
Ughhh
Yeah
Thanks for listening to this aroace autistic's ted talk.

Shapeshifting as a Gender Thing is wonderful. but today i realised something else. Shapeshifting as an Autism Thing.
Trying to be human. Trying to become something else when you think you should just get to be human. Trying to be right. Masking and changing yourself to fit different situations. the relief of no longer having to do that and getting to just be the animal you are. changing outwardly but inwardly you know you're still Wrong. changing outwardly so often you're not sure what you are inwardly anymore. The fantasy of total change that's convincing to others. The fantasy of total change that offers freedom for yourself. Becoming something else to survive or escape. Becoming something else because you're finally unmasking. Becoming something else because what does it mean, really, to be human. does the definition really matter? is this anything

Being Low Support Needs is valid. It doesn't mean you have NO support needs, it just means that you have lower support needs than OTHER autistic people with higher support needs.
Needing support at all is valid and okay. You're not bad or anything negative if you need help to live and get through your day.
