To anyone else that saw the movie "Nope"

Please please PLEASE tell me I wasn't the only one who noticed OJ's neurodivergence. It was something I clocked almost immediately when I first saw the movie. The way he speaks in a monotone voice and isn't really emotive, how he struggles to interact with others and is socially awkward, how he reacts "inappropriately" in certain situations, how Angel literally tells him to "read the room" when they're in the fast food place, after their encounter with Jean Jacket. Even down to how he doesn't respond or react verbally and just grunts or hums and, honestly, the list could go on. These are all things that I do as an autistic person and it was so nice to finally see these traits not painted in a negative or stigmatized light. I just loved being able to see someone who acts and behaves like me be the hero of the story and it isn't made to be a whole big thing, as is what typically happens in media that involves autism. I loved the movie, I loved OJ, and it was so refreshing to see and I neeeeeed someone else that recognized OJ's possible autism coding PLEEASE

My love for SpongeBob honestly goes so much deeper than just being my favorite show when I was younger but I’m not sure tumblr is ready for my analysis on how SpongeBob as a character taught me how to be a man, on top of helping me learn empathy an optimism when neither of those are traits that come naturally to me like they do for so many other people.

I like having a new thing to hyperfixate on but suddenly ALLLL of my other interests don’t interest me anymore I literally only want to think about the stupid gay scientist from Pacific Rim.

Like I’m having a great time thinking about those sillies but also. Please I’m listing to my OC playlists I want to think about them. Please I’m trying so hard to pay attention to this video essay about analog horror. Please I got so far through Wolf 359 why isn’t it doing anything for me now. But nothing else is interesting to me where it was before and that’s like genuinely kind of distressing.

Especially because there’s not a lot of Pacific Rim fandom content. Like I’m making my way through a novel length fic and it’s so good and beautiful but I have no plan for what to follow this up with. And all of the video essays I’ve found so far are about how “bad” uprising is even though I really liked Uprising.

Being an undiagnosed autistic sucks.

Don't get me wrong I personally don't mind being autistic and see it as an huge important part of myself that I don't wanna get rid of... However the fact that no one irl is aware that I AM autistic simply bc I do not have a diagnosis sucks.... I wish I could self diagnose but I can't... Despite suspecting that I'm autistic since I was 13(im 16 now) I can't bring myself to bc I'm scared I'll get attacked by others which is something that makes me very paranoid to think abt

Ever since I was a child I have shown symptoms of autism+pica and of course still show symptoms of both ... My parents response to those symptoms?

I wish I could just tell them that it's bc in autistic but I can't bc I'm undiagnosed... It's too difficult for me to even go up to my parents and tell them that I suspect it. I tried explaining my mom a few times in the past but she doesn't believe me neither does my dad

Fuck a very few of my autistic symptoms WERE noticed when I was younger like my coordination/motor skill issues! However I wasn't diagnosed as autistic I'm not sure why tho..... Was younger me too reserved? Did I not openly show enough traits? Would I have gotten diagnosed as autistic earlier if I was more open back then?

My psychiatrist told me that it is super normal for autistic people to not identify with and feel their age, which is more common than you can imagine. So, the next time you, an autistic person, feel strange for being a permanent regressor and not being able to "grow up", know that you are not alone and that it is okay.
