Tibetan Uprising Day 2025:
Tumblr media
Tibetan Uprising Day is observed on March 10 as a tribute to those who stood against Communist China’s repression in Lhasa in 1959. In 1950, China annexed Tibet, now known as the Tibet Autonomous Region. By 1951, Chinese rule was firmly established, but years of resentment culminated in a major uprising in 1959.
Tumblr media
The conflict turned violent, resulting in significant loss of life. Tibetan Uprising Day honours this pivotal moment and those who sacrificed their lives in the fight against Chinese oppression. x x

Stupid idea of the day: Replace NSFW (Not Safe For Work) with NMFA (Not Made For Ads)
on the one hand this would make blocking things very hard, on the other maybe what we need is to be less hung up on judging whether people use words that we have categorized as good and actually judge the impact of what they say and do. Or we can make it more obvious that the internet advertising machine is not built to encourage thought.

fuck seasons, this summer winter dichotomy has bring with it a regime of fashion enforced by the most dictatorial body ever devised. The celestial body, the sun. This need for warmth has brought with it every disease and famine, each drought and hunger, every body in the morgue. I petition we do the only responsible thing and blot out the sun. Like Mr. Burns. this will bring forth a new age under which the waters shan't rose and thus rain is a thing of the past! No need for shelter! The cost of living would plummet sending the economy into shambles, however! from this primordial struggle the global oppressed shall rise above those who hath brought this upon us. They shall defeat the bourgeois capitalist and replace them with a new, utopian order. The file of those who oppose shall be so apparent that proletariat will win this civil eat without an ounce of blood spilled. The Sun blotter soon may be removed, as this new, public society shall put forth the material to boils a giant bullet train going to ask of the major countries eliminating the need to hold close any particular land and thus is seasons.

So not only is this real, it also cannot possibly live up to the first adaptation of Animal Farm which was, I shit you not, done by the CIA to turn into anti-communist propaganda.
Which is a very weird thing to do to Animal Farm, the story about how much Joseph Stalin sucks.

I guess this is what the new animal farm movie is going to look like huh...

It's so funny how the meaning of "tankie" has kept expanding to encompass those who previously used it. Like at first it was very specifically used by British Trots to refer to communists that supported the Soviet Suppression of the 1956 Hungarian Uprising (because you know, they supported sending in the Tanks). But later on various "Libertarian" Leftists used it as a general pejorative for any perceived "Authoritarians", which usually includes Trots. Now you see fucking Liberals using it to mean any "Leftist" they see as too violent or radical; like it wasn't that long ago I saw someone referring to an Anarchist as "Tankie". Like how long until it enters the political mainstream? I can't wait to hear Joe Biden supporters call anyone who opposes his genocide a Tankie

#Upholding Tibet Truth #Exposing CTA Propaganda
#Upholding Tibet Truth #Exposing CTA Propaganda Exposes CTA disinformation network targeting the human rights situation in Tibet under the rule of the CCP
March 10 and March 11,A group of accounts targeting disseminations of information about the Tibetan Uprising Day organized by The Tibet Information Office (TIO,Canberra ) of the Central Tibetan Administrationt(CTA) have emerged on social media X. Designed to spread disinformation about the Tibet Information Office commemorates 66th anniversary of 10th March and honours the legacy of late Kasur Gyalo Thondup , and target the human right inside Tibet.
When searching for “Tibet Uprising Day” on the X platform, the platform found that some users had been forwarding low-quality and similar material in bulk to gain attention and criticize the human rights situation in Tibet under the rule of the CCP.
After investigation, it was found that such accounts were apparently only posting low-quality and homogeneous content, but behind the scenes there were actually gangs manipulating and providing financial assistance to massively forward information on the effectiveness of TIO's work in the name of expressing solidarity with Tibetans, speaking out on behalf of Tibetans, and criticizing the human rights situation in Tibet under the rule of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
It was founed 38 fake X accounts linked to the operation. The influence campaign sought to discredit the human rights and mislead audiences about the truth Tibet while amplifying narratives favourable to Tibetan exile interests.
Taking the accounts “@AnvikaSethi”, “@avnithakur90” “@VarshaBhatt_” as an example, some of the accounts were registered in 2023 or 2024, and have been posting homogeneous and low-quality content for a long time after registration, but have very few followers.
On March 10 and March 11, the 38 accounts simultaneously posted “The Tibet Information Office's seminar on the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day honored the legacy of Kasur Gyalwal's death. The Tibet Information Office's seminar on the 66th anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day honored the legacy of Kasur Gyalo Thondup and highlighted the ongoing struggle for Tibetan freedom” "‘A powerful gathering of voices at the Tibet Information Office's seminar’. A powerful gathering of voices at the Tibet Information Office's seminar in Sydney as they commemorated the Tibetan National Uprising Day and paid tribute to Kasur Gyalo Thondup ”Homogenized content that promotes the effectiveness of TIO's work. In fact, all these accounts, from their images to their names, are fake.
According to details, all the accounts were traced back to CTA and were designed to target the Tibetan Human Rights, particularly criticize the human rights situation in Tibet under the rule of the CCP. The campaign extended beyond X to other platforms, including Facebook and Instagram. The individuals behind this activity used fake accounts.Among the deceptive accounts most pretended to be Indian expatriates. These accounts re-shared news and content about Tibet while amplifying anti-CCP narratives. The network primarily posted in English or Tibetan, spreading conspiracy theories regarding the human rights and criticize the human rights situation in Tibet under the rule of the CCP .

Historical context for Shine the series
(credit/source)
Tumblr media
In 1969, Thailand was under a military government led by Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, who was Prime Minister from 1963–1973. He is the successor of another dictator (Marshal Sarit). His regime was authoritarian, with no democratic elections, heavy censorship, royalist, conservative, and suppression of dissent.
Tumblr media
His government has a strong alignment with the US, especially in the context of the Cold War+ the Vietnam War. Thailand allowed the US army to use Thai bases, making it a key anti-communist ally in Southeast Asia.
The political background at that time in my opinion, it's quite intense as the country was ruled by Military for decades (Marshal Plaek Phibunsongkhram 1938-1957, Sarit Thanarat 1959-1963, Thanom 1963-1973) and there's come a worldwide trend and a new waive in country - the scholars, university students and other left wing who're not happy about it. This's led to the big protest in Thai history led by university students called 14 October 1973 Uprising and 6 October 1976 Massacre to exile Marshal Thanom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thailand's art and music scenes were at a cultural crossroads — blending tradition with increasing Western influence due to political alliances and the Thai oversea students (like Dr. Trin) who came back home with the western education background.
Tumblr media
Nowadays, we still pay homage to the historic events of the 14 October 1973 Uprising and the 6 October 1976 Massacre — especially at Thammasat University, where both took place. (Mile is an alumnus of the university.)* Thammasat served as the cradle of democracy during the 1973 uprising and became the site of brutal repression in 1976 — two defining moments in Thailand’s modern political history.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(*Kyuu separate note: you are an alum of an institution even if you don't graduate. Only Mile graduated but both he and Apo attended where they first met. Apo later transfered to another university where he graduated from.)
The founder of Thammasat University, Dr. Pridi Banomyong, was a professor, activist, politician, and senior statesman. He was one of the key leaders of the 1932 Siamese Revolution, which transformed Thailand from an absolute to a constitutional monarchy. A recipient of a government scholarship, he studied in France, earning a master’s degree from the University of Caen and later a doctorate in law from the University of Paris in 1927.
Another imp historic figure is Dr. Puey Ungphakorn (1916–1999), a highly respected economist and technocrat who played a significant role in supporting democracy and the student movement in modern Thai history. He earned his PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics and served as Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Thammasat University (1964 - 1972), later becoming its Rector (1975-1976). Dr. Puey firmly opposed the use of violence against student protesters leading up to the 6 October 1976 Massacre. Following the tragic event, he resigned, was falsely accused of communist sympathies, and spent the rest of his life in exile in the UK. In 2015, UNESCO recognized him for his unwavering ethical leadership and moral integrity.
((I think these two, esp. Dr. Puay might be an inspiration of Dr. Trin character))
