the reason ralsei is changing is because of susie

the way he said it, darkners that are based on memories of loved ones can "only appear in specific darkness". meaning, originally, ralsei was kris' memory

and, similarly, gerson was presumably Alvin's?

except. gerson came back. it's the third sanctuary. a different dark world. but he's still here. and why?

because SUSIE remembers him. she wrote alvin the letter from him. she fought him and won and came back to look for him. because now he's in her memories, too.

following that logic, of course ralsei is in her memories too. more prominently, too, each time she returns to an adventure. he strays further from the blurry memories kris has, into something that's both theirs and hers

and, while we're at it, maybe ours, too. we shape him with our choices because we're part of this team too

Been working my way through tmbd and just finished artificial condition. I would kill and die for ART. Also crying everytime Murderbot starts Experiencing Emotions (trauma) and just is like. "Huh. This is illogical and dumb. I should not be doing this. The danger that I am making up in my mind is not real" like babygirl you are having a panic attack, you can't LOGIC your way out of emotions. and also stop acting like me I am being called out in every chapter.

mat in the early books fits the Jordanian Wife archetype to a T. swear to god he behaves the same way about rand that faile does about perrin and nynaeve does about lan. robert jordan decided that every man needs a cranky wife to complete him but rand was single in the early books so he just used mat as rand's cranky wife instead.

y'know what makes gen's crying moment in the ending even more meaningful

is that gen went from being a sceptic

to this

time machines are not even achievable in our present time, but gen's faith in senku and science is unshakeable. "full of unthinkable things" indeed yet he believes in senku regardless

and what gets me more, is that the ultimate faith in humanity and its sciences is the core of byakuya's personality too

and gen's faith in senku and his expression parallels this conversation between byakuya and lillian

LIKE LOOK AT THEM

so here is dr stone's final and most important message– that science means perseverance, because humanity will never give up.

senku isn't great because he's a genius. he's great because he doesn't give in to his failures. he keeps going, because he believes in science. (and gen is the one who narrates this message in the end. oh gen asagiri u will always be loved!)
