I was thinking about the "Deltarune is Undertale backwards" theory and suddenly realized something.
In Undertale, you leave Waterfall and enter Hotland being chased by Undyne.
In Deltarune, you end chapter 3 (the Hotland equivalent in Deltarune if we're doing Undertale backwards) chasing after Undyne.

SPOILERS FOR DELTARUNE CHAPTER 3
My live reactions
This TV guy is giving Ena’s Bbq rn and I’m so here for it.
Goofy ass dance
NOT THE HIS THEME AT ASRIEL’S NAME
This cooking mini game is suprisingly hard, but third times the charm!
THAT PINWHEEL KICK THOUGH
Secret rooms in the ocean, but I’m blocked by a weed
HELL YEAH ROULX CARD SAYS POLIGAMY RIGHTS
Deltarune Guitar Hero real
Oo more Kris and feeedom stuff
‘Isn’t there something you’ve forgotten?’ I’m actively going feral. They hid lore behind getting stage one perfect.
THE TV KIDNAPPED MY MOM???
Ah yes, boycotting.
Roulx card is hilarious actually.
Why’s it snowing in the studio?
Tenna is a child of divorce, isn’t he?
THE ROARING KNIGHT!
UNDYNE!!!! I’ve never been happy to see the police before
INTO THE BUNKER????
DAMNIT
Theory time, but I wonder if the Roaring Knight is supposed to represent the player. It’s trying to collect Toriel, and did grab Undyne, two main characters from Undertale.
But chapter four will probably prove me wrong.

Tinfoil Hat Deltarune Roaring Knight Theory (SPOILERS)
So in thinking of who the knight could/will be, the idea that it’s one of the holidays feels fairly inescapable. Right now most clues hint at it being carol (the swords, the phone calls, her being an asshole, ect) but at this point it almost feels… too obvious? Like, to the point it feels like a red hearing.
The other contender is Dess, but at least for me, we just don’t have enough evidence to say one way or the other. And from the little we do know, she’s mostly seemed like someone Kris and the fun gang would likely be allies with.
And then there’s Rudy. We know more about him, but not that much more. Hes a chill, good humored guy. He’s really supportive of Noelle, and is close Kris and the rest of the dreemurrs, even being the best man at toriel and asgore’s wedding. And he’s sick with… something.
So, the reason I’m leaning towards him mostly comes from a narrative inclination. When looking at the candidates, you’ve one with giant neon arrows pointing toward them saying “no fr she’s totally the knight”, and another so wrapped in mystery that one can’t help but assume something’s up. And then there’s Rudy. The kind, supportive, and presumably too-sick-to-do-much dad. Wouldn’t it just be gut wrenching if HE was the one doing all this?
Let’s talk about his disease. It’s something bad enough for him to stay in the hospital instead of their mansion that’s like 2 feet away, but also not so debilitating he can’t go to church. What’s causing it? What are the symptoms? What’s the treatment? Unless Tobey is planning to release Rudy’s medical diagnostics we prolly won’t ever find out. BUT…. We DO know that the knight seemingly had power in the light world AND the dark world. Assuming this works in at least a similar way to Undertale, when a monster gets the power of a human soul, it’s pretty deadly. See: the true lab and flowey.
SOOOO……. It’s perhaps not too big a leap to say that whatever’s making Rudy sick could potentially be related to human souls and determination.
But that’s all lore and mechanics and what not, what about the WHY of it all? Why would Rudy be the knight? If I were to stake a stab in the dark (heh) I imagine it’s Dess.
As we’ve seen in chapter 4, the dark worlds can, in a fucked up way, bring people back to life. It’s not exact, and we don’t even know if the conciseness and memories actually carry over from the original body to the dark world version, but from the outside at least, it looks like someone who’s dead in the light world can “come back” in the dark world.
So let’s assuming something happens to Dess. Hell, maybe she got sick too (put a pin in this). She’s either dead or dying, and the only thing Rudy (and presumably carol) can think to do is take her to the dark world. We hear Noelle think about how nice it is in the dark world because she can just use magic to heal someone. Wonder if she’s not the only one to think of this.
Now, carol being the mayor, had access to places most others probably don’t. Like, for instance, a protected bunker at the edge of town only she and a sparse few others have access too. They can create a dark world there that they know no one is gonna be able to get to, thus protecting des and keeping anyone else out.
If I were to ponder a guess, I imagine that much of this is Rudy’s doing, and carol is kind of forced along to cover up what he’s doing. She can’t exactly stop him. Even if she knows it’s fucked up to keep an undead recreation of your daughter hidden underground, to stop that would be, in essence, killing her over again.
This is definitely mostly speculative. The relationships and how they connect are subject to change, especially how Rudy and carol are connected to Dess. There’s probably a lot that could change, or be backwards, but i definitely think Rudy and carol are working together in some way. We know for sure that their relationship is strained, but why that is is anyone’s guess.
Now, I have three smaller thoughts that tie into this.
First up, I think whatever happened to Dess is very likely Asgore’s fault. Whatever it was that he did got covered in the local paper, and was bad enough for toriel to call it off with him. I don’t think we’ve seen him interact with Rudy? So we really don’t know what their dynamic is currently, but if asgore is responsible for what happened to Dess, it would make sense that they’re not on speaking terms. It would also make sense why he’s working with carol, since due to his guilt, he likely feels indebted to her (bonus theory did carol get Dess killed???)
Second thought is that, I think the roaring, and specifically, the titans emerging, are the process of someone being resurrected. Whatever the roaring is, it seems to blur the line between light and dark. If the reason behind that could be a darkner being brought into the light world. We’ve heard Susie talk about wanting to bring ralsei into the real world, it wouldn’t be to much of stretch to think, if I can bring someone back to life in the dark world, I should be able to bring them back into the light world too.
And lastly, let’s talk about themes. Deltarune so far seems to primarily be about the relationship between fiction and reality. Other people have explained it better, but in short, dark worlds seem to be stand ins for fictional stories, and our tendency to “get consumed” or “escape” into them (again brushing over A LOT watch that one Andrew Cunningham video) but let’s go further and talk about how that relates to death. (Sorry to be a bummer.)
Death is inescapable, permanent, and inevitable. And it’s the primary fear of all living things. Thus, it is also something people spend quite a lot of time thinking of ways to get out of or escaping. If dark worlds are about escapism, then one of the biggest things people try to escape is death. Be it their own or others. So it seems fairly inevitable that the game that’s talking about escapism is also talking about its relationship to death.
This was also something very prominent in Undertale. The idea that life and death begin to loose meaning in the context of a game is pretty central to that games story. That when’s someone’s existence is encapsulated purely in a fictional narrative, no matter how attached you are to it, your relationship begins to erode just by the nature of it being a singular fictional work. You can’t help but to see the puppet gaster pulling the strings. So I wonder how the idea of death and its connection to escapism will end up playing into deltarune. How far will someone go to help someone they love escape from death?
TLDR Tobey Fox needs immediately release comprehensive medical records for Rudy holiday.

Alright, I'm gonna ramble about Deltarune for the next however long it takes you to read this. Toby's Wild Toy Story Adjacent Happy Fun Time Adventure (Featuring Sand Undertale™) is bouncing around my skull like a DVD screen saver and if I don't talk about it, I'm going to [explosionsfx.mp4] so either strap in or leave while you can.
Spoilers under the cut.
Okay, so I saw a post a while back talking about how the Dark Worlds we've been to thus far seem to be mirroring Undertale in aesthetic and presentation, but they're going backwards. So, chapter 1 is the Castle, chapter 2 is the Core, chapter 3 is Hotland, and chapter 4 is Waterfall. I'm gonna try and find that post later so I can link to it, but if anyone knows what I'm referencing, please direct me to that post so I can edit it in here!
Anyhow, assuming things follow this trend, the next Undertale locale to be referenced should be Snowdin. With that in mind, I disagree with the theory that the next Dark World is gonna be in Asgore's flower shop.
I think it's gonna be in the Holiday house.
Think about it. The aesthetic parallels are already there. What could be more reminiscent of Snowdin than a house where it's Christmas all the time? A Dark World created there would HAVE to be winter themed at the very least. Plus, the potential for some real narrative gut punches is just too good for me to believe Toby isn't gonna do this at some point. It's just a matter of if there's anything to this Reverse Undertale theory.
So, when DOES Flower King enter the picture? It has to eventually, right? Surely Toby wouldn't just leave it unused. I hear you. I see you. I'm in your walls as we speak.
Truthfully, I'm not sure. It's possible it'll be chapter 6, considering it would align pretty well with the ruins narratively. An old building in a state of disrepair, kept standing by an old goat person, Flowey is (probably) there, that all works, sure. But I think the ruins parallel is more likely to be the Shelter, considering we already know there's a dark world in there, and it would match the Ruins in that it's inaccessible from the outside (except to Carol, but we're not talking about that) and nobody we've spoken to yet seems to know what the fuck is down there.
So where the god damn hell is the flower shop??? Chapter 7 doesn't even fit into this framework because we can't go farther back than the ruins! There's no more Undertale to parallel! None! Your theory is flawed and you should feel bad, Devon!!!
Okay, but consider: the existence of chapter 7 is, in and of itself, a defiance of the narrative. In chapter 4's secret boss, the World's Funkiest Grandpa, you learn that the story only ever had six parts to begin with. Part seven was never written. The implication, to my understanding, is that it's GOING to be written, likely by Susie. In stark defiance of the prophecy, of the natural order of the world, a new chapter will be forced on to the end of this story. Through sheer determination and force of will, Susie will spit in the face of what will be and write what she thinks should be, and we already know what she thinks should be.
For tomorrow to be the same as yesterday. For the story to keep going, without an ending. For things to persist forever.
Thing is, we've seen "forever". We've seen how much of a double edged sword that idea is. We know why eternal persistence kinda sucks, actually. And I think that's what chapter 7 is gonna show us.
Come to think of it, we don't really know how long those flowers in Asgore's shop have been there. How do you think they feel about not being allowed to die.
#devon speaks#deltarune#deltarune spoilers#it is entirely possible that i could not be more wrong#if there's one thing I've learned following Toby Fox's work this long#its that predicting what he'll do next is the epitome of foolishness#I'm just throwing my two cents into the Deltarune Theory Pool

Random Deltarune/Undertale thoughts
this is mostly just free association. not making any concrete theories, such much as assembling things that make me go "hmm". it probably means nothing
undertale: room 123
this is a cut room from undertale. notably, it isn't dogchecked (basically a thing to prevent accessing invalid assets), which puts it in that dubious set of "canon cut content" for me (the other main example of that is gaster's entry 17 room)
there's an npc in the grass that says the following:
(Whenever the girl moves her net, this bug scurries straight into it.)
Excuse me... Yes, you, with the striped shirt.
Can you do something about your friend...?
Yes, your friend... The one behind you, with the creepy smile.
Hmmm? Where'd your friend go?
additionally, the room is called room_water_prebird, and it's located between room_water_farm and room_water_shop
the room name doesn't make me think of much, but the fact that it's a cut room between two other rooms makes me wonder. plus those rooms being a farm and shop?
chapter 3, the schedule given by the man behind the tree is (copied from the wiki):
On Thursday, he goes to sell the donuts.
On Friday, he tosses the leftovers in the dumpster.
On Saturday, he lets it cool on the windowsill.
On Sunday, he harvests the wheat.
Hold your breath, head to the left, and count backwards to 100.
as i said, probably nothing and just my pattern seeking brain going wild
Fun
small one, but is anyone else raising an eyebrow on the reoccurring use of the word "fun" in the chapter 3 sword route?
given how much that feels like breaking the game, glitch hunting, and otherwise not within the normal bounds of deltarune, i get reminded of undertale's Fun value a LOT.

An Undertale/Deltarune Theory Complaint:
Alright I wanna bitch about UT/DR fan interpretations again. Basically, I feel like the idea that Kris is being puppeteered by the player (and that they're aware of this to any degree), which I was already not a huge fan of, is now getting retroactively applied to the protagonist of Undertale.
That sucks guys. That sucks so fucking hard. And not only does it suck, but it actually helps illustrate just why it would suck in DR too:
It retroactively fucks up the tone of the entire game!
(This is much more just a rant I've been sitting on recently, as compared to some big detailed writeup. Also, y'know, spoiler warning for both games. Screen shots from LongplayArchive on YouTube)
Like
where's the part in the where Sans is like "but the mere act of playing this game is bad so fuck you for that?" Where is any thematic implication of that being an important element anywhere, outside of genocide route, and maybe overtly deadly choices in general? Where's the finger-waggle? Where is it??
Certainly if it was anywhere it'd be in the place where this line gets spoken and you are then morally judged for your actions. Right?
This isn't the sort of thing you have to read deeply between the lines on. Yes, a lot of the game is reliant upon the player's faulty initial assumption that the name they chose in the start is the character you're playing as.
It's a cool twist for sure. And this particular moment really hammers home that, yes, Frisk is their own person. But it comes across less as some kind of "gotcha" admonishment and more just, like, the clear logical conclusion of the twist that's already been pretty much spelled out at this point anyway. That the name you chose was for somebody else entirely.
Hell, after this revelation happens, you're then given more time to walk around as Frisk and talk to people. If at this point you're supposed to be thinking that controlling Frisk is an inherently unsavory thing at all times, wouldn't that be an inherently bad segment? Wouldn't the only correct choice be to rush out the door towards the credits as fast as possible?
Under that understanding, the only moral choice outside of not playing at all is a non-violent speed run.
Maybe I'm not understanding popular fan theories correctly and am vastly overestimating how many people actually think this whole "player puppeteering" thing retroactively applies to Frisk too. But the mere thought of it really gets my panties in a twist I won't lie.
Also,
At this point, you know full well that Frisk is their own person. Yet, here you are, dealing with one last choice prompt. How can there be anything morally questionable about this? Hell, even acting with the knowledge that Frisk is their own person and doing your best to pick what you think they'd want... it gets you nowhere. Which answer is correct? The first? The Second? Neither? Both?
I don't think you're supposed to dwell on that. If anything it just further hammers home how Frisk has shit going on you're probably not even aware of. I think that normally, the player and the player character are kinda indistinguishable, especially in-universe. It's not until you start doing logically absurd violent shit that the game bends over backwards to make the player feel like a fucked up asshole, as opposed to Frisk. To the point where the spiritual embodiment of numbers going up for their own sake pops out and calls you a psycho just like them.
LIke, this aspect of the writing isn't subtle? I really don't see room for any other interpretation. If you have to imagine the player as some distinct aspect of the game world even during a peaceful playthrough, then I'd stick with my interpretation from my Kris writeup (linked at the beginning of this) where you're, like, some part of their subconscious that helps them decide shit. Or a headmate that they probably aren't aware of, if the player has to be something resembling a distinct person.
Oh, also: if both options in that final choice prompt are equally valid, then that really bolsters my idea that the choices given to you are coming from the character, rather than something foisted upon them out of nowhere. Like, again, you're just helping decide. If they wanna just talk, then they just talk. Like when they give their name to Asriel. Kris is handled exactly the same way. Deltarune is just written with you knowing that Kris is their own person from the very start, where Undertale isn't. That's it.
Which means...
... Frisk is absolutely the kind of person to consider all of these options at once, lol. They were effectively a less edgy test run for Kris, I think.

More deltarune spoilers (chapter 4 this time)
Gersons theme is just whimsical spear of justice omg???
Also the amount of waterfall references are crazy to me. Ik theres a theory that all dark worlds are reflective of an undertale area but backwards and its like, ohhhhh, i see it now.
It really is like a warped version of it.
I havent finished the chapter yet (im going to bed and finishing it tomorrow afternoon) so im excited to see what comes next!! (Ill make a follow up to this if i can)

deltarune Game Theory and/or prediction post. Lol
this will be a very long post sorry i got excited. just press J now if you don’t care
So about the graveyard in hometown
It seems like there’s definitely objects buried there rather than bodies (back in chapter 1 i think people were a bit uncertain about that but i’d say it’s confirmed now by this dialogue)
And as we also now know for certain darkners are personifications of light world objects...but also that monster funeral rituals are to bury an object to symbolize a person...And the game also specifically calls attention to the hammer at Gerson’s grave moreso than any of the other objects buried here...
So i think that at some point there will be a secret extra boss that’s a callback to Undyne (undying or otherwise) in the same way Spamton Neo was a callback to Mettaton NEO/EX and that it’ll be that hammer. And also it will (kind of) be Gerson actually, pseudo-resurrected by a dark world being made around that hammer (which i think could also maybe work as a callback to undyne nearly dying but then becoming the undying in the no mercy route)
Cuz like in UT Gerson says he was once a hero like Undyne and was called the Hammer of Justice (like spear of justice!)
But yknow it would be kind of weird to have a dark world in the cemetery itself since it’s out in the open and not in a closed off area like it seems like dark worlds have been so far...plus there’s only like 5 things here if you count the bench so there wouldn’t really be much to go off of...
But the hammer doesn’t necessarily have to stay in the cemetery anyway.
The church seems to be a very likely candidate for becoming a dark world, being an enclosed area that we haven’t yet been allowed to actually enter, and when you leave the cemetery Alvin says this:
And he trails off but it’s clear something or another is bothering him about the hammer, so i think it’s possible that he could end up removing the hammer from the graveyard for whatever reason and have it in the church. And then a dark world would happen in the church. And the hammer would become something. And if an object that symbolizes a person is personified then what would that be.
(also the hammer being in the church dark world would also fit with a different theory (moreso just an observation really) i have that the secret bosses are all items that are somehow a bit “out of place” with whatever the theme of the world is, with joker cards often being removed from decks for card games and spam emails being filtered out, but in this case it would literally just be that the hammer isn’t supposed to be in the church)
#deltarune#mypost#very long mypost! not sure if it quite belongs in the random text post tag at this point but its not like making theories is something#that i normally do#dt#deltarune spoilers#another thought i had is if you go with the theory of deltarune areas paralleling undertale areas backwards#and also counted the core as a separate area from hotland#then you could have card world be new home cyber world be the core#whatever chapter 3 will be maybe a tv world as hotland#and then if the church was the fourth world it would be in place to be a waterfall parallel#which again. area gerson was in. area undyne was in. this writes itself basically

Are you into Deltarune/Undertale? Also, do you have any theories on it?
Yes, I very much am! I know a lot of people have a disdain for the fandom for their own reasons, but I personally have not had any problems. Then again, I don't really interact with the fandom, so I might be hugely biased.
As for theories, I've thought about this and I'm not sure if anyone else has:
What if Sans doesn't like Papyrus in Deltarune?
Hold on! Hold on! Let me tell you something before you guys go insane! Okay, so, we know that in Deltarune that some of the original characters have been flipped upside-down and turned backward. Like with Alphys and Undyne not knowing each other, Mettaton having horrible self-esteem and being locked away, Catty and Bratty hate each other, and Burgerpants/Pizzapants....is happy.
If this is a different Sans than our Snas in Undertale, then it wouldn't be shocking to think that he might be embarrassed by Papy. Think about it, Sans was constantly so supportive and uplifting toward his bro. No matter how ridiculous and dorky Papyrus would be, Sans made sure to tell him how cool and great he is. Papyrus was always loving and outgoing, while Sans mirrored him.
So, wouldn't the opposite be true? Yeah, Sans is still our smart-ass, but Papy isn't outgoing or even remotely excited to meet a human? Heck, we aren't even allowed to see him, even tho, in Undertale, Sans wanted Papy to be the one to catch Frisk and be all excited that a real human is around. Now, Sans is just all "Yeah, he just doesn't want to see anyone. ...Anyway-" like, I refuse to believe that the Sans in Undertale would just not care or be so flippant about it.
Not only that, but he really did just fucking tease us for getting excited to see Papy. Hell, he even allowed Chara to be around him, as long as they acted like a person. If you don't even talk to Sans in Ch 1 of Deltarune, he jokes about not even having a brother. Plus, him calling you an "idiot baby" completely unprovoked x3
Idk, maybe I'm overanalyzing and Sans is being the overpowered, funny jerk that he is. I just have a weird feeling. ...Would make an interesting au tho.

Why do you think the Sans Darkener theory is ridiculous? From the blood, to the teleportation/other weird powers, to his almost otherworldly meta-awareness, the toilet references, and his bedroom door, the "never see em again"/"dont forget". He's clearly not just a regular monster.
And Ralsei is a darkner who's weirdly based off Asriel and who seems to be special when compared to other darkners. And it's not yotally clear what his overworld counterpart would be (a toy or a real goat idk.) Sans Darkner theory honestly doesn't feel like a huge stretch to me.
good job on bringing up ralsei's case, because that's exactly my point against the theory!
ralsei is different from other darkners. he calls himself the prince of the dark, THEIR prince. he's apparently the only darkner who can seamlessly exist in dark worlds that aren't his own AND MAYBE. just maybe!! exist in the light world for short amounts time. and no, I really don't believe he's based on a real goat, buddy. i think at best he's based on kris' fake horns to represent their feelings of inadequacy over being human. and those horns helping them feel like they fit in more.
the dark fountain that created him, the one in castletown? literally the strongest in the game. at the beginning of chapter 2 he mentions "sensing" a new fountain being opened, so he rushed on site to help out. remember that he said that he was alone, so if sans WERE a darkner of ralsei's caliber, he'd have to be from ANOTHER dark fountain just as powerful as his own (and what would the purpose of that fountain be, why should it be different from the others), he'd have to be based on an object (which he's clearly not) and ralsei would know about him. so why hasn't he given even a single HINT that there's someone like that out in the light world? especially since it'd have to be a very recent event, sans has just recently moved into hometown, after all!
sure you could technically cover all this up with "oh but what if ralsei is lying" which is fair, i ALSO think he's lying about a fuck ton of stuff. so let's look at this from a narrative angle: making sans deltarune a special darkner who "ascended" to the light world but is also doing fuck all, has no relevancy to the plot so far whatsoever and who has given no indication of being aware of your actions, having time space powers OR being anywhere as meta aware as he is in ut (one joke about game release times aside, and even susie makes one of those), would give him a level of relevancy/importance comparable to one of the main characters. and I really doubt that's the case.
it's one of the few reasons that make me question how i approach the otherworld theory too. do you really think that at some point, or the ending specifically, if all dark fountains other than one (ie castle town) have to be closed, that deltarune's story will revolve around........ sans. lmao no. come on. whatever happens will have to be collateral at best, and likely hidden, just like his backstory lore in undertale.
all things considered, I don't think darkner!sans is a theory people pulled entirely out of their ass. it's clearly based on things and details that are meant to make you think and put them together. i just think this particular theory put them all together backwards.
in deltarune sans isn't a darkner in the lightworld. he's the exact opposite. in undertale
#i don't like theorizing about dr especially the ending I don't think we have enough info yet#but !! but !!!!! i do have my ideas . based on very little actual evidence and more like#narrative continuity and predictions for where The Story Will Go#with its messages with its themes and with the conflicts it's set up#hold on i wanna write a post about this . i wasn't going to at first but now i want to write it down in case i end up being right#answered asks#sans#deltarune#entry log#ralsei

before i sleep there's something i wanted to write down about the current deltarune event and a tad bit of speculation on my part:
me and a friend were discussing the "ARG (loosely named)" for the 7th anniversary of undertale, and we were both shooting ideas back and forth concerning the various different extra webpages and stuff that there are, and we came to the following conclusion:
dess will play a major role in the very near future, as soon as chapter 3.
what i noticed was a more significant abundance of content related to dess during this. the whole noelle blog thing going on where noelle's posting a bunch of stuff about her life and the stuff she's getting into, with mentions of dess and even an implied contribution to the ICE-E sighting catalog (https://deltarune.com/icee/) tells me that there's gonna be some stuff related to dess coming up. but that's not all.
my friend was also snooping around the various pages with their Super HTML Skills and they were digging up the names of the files on said pages to see if they could find any clues, and they came across the files "findher.mp3" and "holiday_country.mp3"
"findher.mp3" is an mp3 file that plays a version of "Lost Girl" in a guitar arrangement. i'll spare you the nerding out on music theory and stuff i learned from film scoring, but what's most interesting about this is the fact that the url this is connected to is "https://deltarune.com/dess." not incredibly subtle, but we know for a fact that this will be important soon, along with the red guitar featured on the page.
secondly, "holiday_country.mp3" is an mp3 file which plays a country rendition of "Jingle Bells," a song which is HEAVILY associated with Noelle along with other holiday-related concepts and items. we can easily connect this to the bluebubble.rodeo page where kris and susie appear to be in cowboy attire, and combining this with the "dess" page and the red guitar, which is an instrument associated with cowboys in many wild western films, we can deduce not only that the next dark world area is going to be cowboy-themed, wholly or partially, but we can also assume that dess will be involved in this somehow. maybe she's in the dark world? maybe that's where she ran off to?
"but why can't it just be noelle-related?" i hear you asking. for all i know it could be, and this theory could be completely backwards. but i feel like if toby wanted to delve this deep into noelle's character, he would've done so in ch. 2, which is also the chapter where the groundwork was laid for exploration of dess and who she was-- us being introduced to her, the kind of stuff she did, her relation to the other characters like noelle, kris, and asriel. and with that kind of stuff hanging in the air ever since before ch. 2 came out, i seriously doubt that this would be left unsolved for much longer.
my speculation here is shaky and minute, but nevertheless here's my idea: dess, at some point, went missing. she's been living in the dark world ever since, and is probably the first character chronologically to enter it. and with the clues we've been given during this event, i'd say she's been hanging out with the dark world's cowboys for the last (X) amount of years.
i'm not certain completely on everything just yet, but with all of these clues and such i think one thing is clear:
dess will play a major role in ch. 3.

Undertale Theory: Sans, Papyrus and Gaster Appear In Blooky’s Home
while playing a new save on the new offline account that I had tried to make the Mii look like a Mii-Frisk and even gave it the name “Frisk”...
I still plan for that to be a type of “AU” where there was only one Reset, and the first name I had used to name the fallen human was Frisk, and then after I had showed mercy and spared Goat Mom Toriel...
I Reset the Timeline, and got to change the name to Chara.
so anyway before I had ended up fighting and befriending Undyne,
I went to Blooky’s home, and I had Frisk lay down on the ground around 4:38 Am to 5:59 Am in Real Life Time.
but when I was waiting for the time to become 5:59 Am, and yeah I did get up early and I did get a nice sleep and well of course at some point I did wake up and decided to play more of that new save...
anyway while looking at the galaxy that Frisk and Blooky was laying on,
I started to notice that Sans looks like he was in there, but really big and his looking to his right, then I notice what looked to be a monster soul to his right, but it turns out when I looked again, it actually kind of looked like Gaster, you know the name you can’t use for the fallen human unless you spell it backwards.
and to the left of Sans, looks like a younger version of Papyrus but with tiny dot like “eyes” but he didn’t look like he had a mouth.
plus that Papyrus might of been around Monster Kid and Frisk’s age.
I just notice it on December 4, 2022.
I guess if you keep Frisk from moving for that long and just look really closely, you start to notice stuff.
I dub that Sans in that galaxy or space, as Titan-Sans, you know because in Deltarune there are suppose to be Titans....
he seems to be bigger than most alternate versions of Sans....
and either my eyes and mind were playing tricks on me, or Sans, Papyrus and Gaster really did appear as huge hidden images in Blooky’s house.
well I did find that possible secret message in that crossword where Sans is possibly the one who is saying “I see someone better go diet.”
sure some of the letters aren’t all close together, but you need to look very carefully in order to find them to see the words.
it’s either Sans doing that whole telling us we need to go on a diet, or it’s Gaster picking on us from across time and space.
this might be more than just a theory though, about the whole finding huge hidden images of Gaster, Sans and Papyrus in Blooky’s home but only can find them if we decide to do the whole family tradition of Blooky’s.
plus it could turn out that the Papyrus in that hidden image, could be the version from Deltarune, and that could go double for the Sans in the hidden image.
Gaster is a mystery, but I guess he could be the version that is from deltarune or could be the one from undertale or from the timeline that came before both undertale and deltarune, which could take place in the Hard Mode...
I’m not really sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me or if I really did see those three being in huge hidden images and being like with space or galaxy or universe bodies, I know for a few moments Sans seem like he looked a little bit like Steven Universe, which I guess maybe because some those little star dots or whatever kind of made a design that looked a little like his hair...
I will leave myself signed in, while I go watch Sonic Underground.
if there was a Undertale/Deltarune Crossover AU version of that cartoon,
Ralsei and Asriel would be the Sonic and Manic...
as to who would be the Sonia, I would say it would be Chara.
also maybe it’s possible that the Sans, Papyrus and Gaster I thought I saw at Napstablook’s home, could turn out to be Omnipotent and are technically very powerful to the point that not even Ink-Sans or Error-Sans can rewrite or destroy them, and not everyone has to agree about the theory.
but if by chance there has been others who have started to notice this on the Nintendo Switch when playing Undertale, either by their official online or offline accounts (I don’t mind playing both, I mean not at the same time, but you know what I mean...)
maybe there will be others who will bring it up, that they have started to notice Sans, Papyrus and Gaster show up in that little galaxy that appears when Frisk hangs out with Blooky by doing that family tradition.
don’t know if it was always there or if it only appears if you stay still long enough....
also yes I had made Frisk lay down on the floor around 4:38 Am to 5:59 Am,
because I was full of Determination to try to see that through, cause it was something I want to do...
yeah, I was weird enough to try that, I mean we do wait for Toriel most of the time in the room she left us in, and I wouldn’t be surprised if we waited for her in there until the next day in real world time, she still wouldn’t be back yet, even if we do move around while waiting, take a break for a sandwich and even bathroom breaks, and she still isn’t back yet even after the dog takes her phone...
well it is possible she wont just come back, even if you wait until the next day.
the Toriel from the Hard Mode Timeline, could be a Darkner and and Flowey from the Hard Mode might be a Darkner, or not.
Flowey doesn’t seem to follow us in Hard Mode, and the Demo version of Undertale that has Flowey, he might just be a Flower that has nothing to do with Asriel and isn’t him, and just was a normal flower that was injected with determination by Gaster, and not Alphys like it is in the full game timeline.
there seem to be already a tag with “Omnipotent Sans”, so I chose it for this post as well...
in another theory I have thanks to those possible hidden images of Sans, Papyrus and Gaster at Blooky’s home if you decide to do that family tradition wit them.
the bodies that Sans, Papyrus and even Gaster use, are just Avatar and Vessel bodies that are using that are connected to their higher dimensional selves.
so in other words, they are like Washu, Tokimi and Tsunami from Tenchi Muyo.
Gaster somehow lost his full connection to his magical organic body vessel.
he can only connect back to it sometimes, and even when the Player is able to find that gray door and find Gaster when he is once more connected to his vessel, but it doesn’t stay that way for long and he becomes disconnected from his vessel once more and is send back to where he is trapped in.
if Gaster can only connect to the Undertale World sometimes, then he could possibly make a new vessel body that looks like him, and send it to deltarune.
maybe Gaster, Sans and Papyrus wouldn’t be like Washu, Tokimi and Tsunami.
but if they were, Sans would be the Washu, Papyrus would be Tsunami, and lastly Gaster would be Tokimi.
that show is for mature audiences only, so it isn’t for little kids...and for good reason, and I know that Tenchi Muyo GXP ain’t for little kids either.
maybe I will watch more of that after I watch some episodes of Sonic Underground.
is it weird to think that if there was a crossover between Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss with Tenchi Muyo, and Washu is in her older form that is her true form....and she is hit on by Stolas’s Dad King Paimon or Charlie’s Dad Lucifer Morningstar....
it be funny if she replies “but boy, your only a child.”
lol, some might get what that means, I mean besides it being a reference to that song from the Mamma Mia Movie.
if Asmodeous and Fizzarolli were to hit on her when she is in her true adult form, well the version of her that is a Goddess.
she might tell those two the same thing that she would tell Stolas and Charlie’s Dads if they hit on her, by telling them “but boy, your only a child.”
even if Paimon, Lucifer, Asmodeous and Fizzarolli are fully grown, but she would be WAY older than them.
and well if anyone has watched most of the episodes of Tenchi Muyo, might know why Washu decided to take a different form from her true adult form.
if you think about who would win a fight, Ryoko or Vaggie, who would you think would win in that fight...?
or if there was a fight between Ayeka and Charlie, who would win...?
or like there is a fight between Razzle & Dazzle Vs Ayeka’s Guardians.
and while that is happening, Angel Dust is running off with Tenchi (still held captured), and by the time Ryoko, Vaggie, Ayeka and Charlie notice, Angel is a few yards away while holding Tenchi bridle style but still wrapped up in webs.
and then the chase starts where Angel while still holding Tenchi, is running from Vaggie, Charlie, Ryoko and Ayeka with their respective bodyguards/guardians.
of course it wouldn’t be canon, but it would be interesting.
but anyway, it’s okay that not everyone ends up seeing what looks like a huge hidden images of Sans, Papyrus and Gaster in Napstablook’s home when we decide to lay on the floor and be like garbage with them.
I’m not sure if many notice that or if it was my eyes playing tricks on me, I mean I do know I did find that whole “I see someone better go on diet.” in that crossword puzzle, and you would have to look very carefully for those words because they wont be close together, well maybe not all of them.
anyway I am also going to see that whole thing I finally notice at Blooky’s, that had to do with Sans, Papyrus and Gaster as Fan Headcanon as well.
maybe not everyone will end up seeing them, and it might just be me.
but it be nice to know that I wasn’t the only one that started to see Sans in there, as well as the possibility that Papyrus and Gaster in there as well.
but the odds of someone else noticing it are possibly 1 to 100 of happening.
if it took me and some other fans to notice the secret message in that crossword puzzle, so of course it’s gonna take a while for other fans to really look at the space or galaxy that appears in Blooky’s home when you decided to have Frisk participate in Napstablook’s family traditions.
anyway still gonna be signed on, but be back in a hour or so to check out more art and stuff, after I watch some Sonic Underground, Tenchi Muyo GXP and some other stuff....maybe I’ll watch a movie as well.
I think once I do reach Asgore’s castle, I will wait to fight him (even if I hope Toriel appears if the plan works) on December 31, 2022.
which means I want to break the barrier on Christmas, and after I do beat the game and get the happy ending in that one offline account that has a picture of a Mii-Frisk and even has the name “Frisk” in there, I will not Reset that world a second time, and let those versions of the characters live a happy life.
but I can still play Undertale on the other one and reset all I want, it’s just that one will be off limits after I get the True Pacifist Ending, I could play deltarune as well on that one that has that Mii-Frisk, so that’s good.
I hope it snows for Christmas, it be nice if it did...

Theory I came up with maybe ten minutes ago: Alphys is the reason we have Undertale in this universe. Evidence:
She mentions researching alternate universes
She has a bag of dog food in her lab, which directly relates to the "god" of UNDERTALE's world, Toby Fox's fursona, the Annoying Dog (dog is god spelled backwards) -> the Annoying Dog also shows up around Mettaton, like during his news segment
Alphys apparently coded the game? Or helped code it?? There's a walkthrough in her desk and if you access the game's code "Alphys" can be found laughing at you for trying to find out who she has a crush on
Alphys wants to be part of a grander story SO FREAKING BAD she literally creates self-insert fanfic in real life via Frisk's adventure in-game
Some other speculations:
Because Alphys researched other timelines and multiple universes, and knows Sans, who ALSO mentions other timelines and "us/we/our", we can infer that he and Alphys may have researched stuff together
Sans is also closely connected to Annoyimg Dog: Annoying Dog can be found in his room, in their house, messing with Papyrus's attacks in battle, in a dog shrine literally in Sans' and Papyrus's sink, mentioned by Sans in the XBox exclusive dialogue, ETC.
The Annoying Dog is found in a secret room in Snowdin and is said to have programmed a game by barking into a voice-to-text program, and there is fabric mentioned to exist in that same room (the holes in which seem to be growing larger, like the fabric of space-time, or reality)
Annoying Dog is closely related to the game's creator, Toby Fox, and there is a lot of fourth wall breaking in the game, especially done by Sans, Alphys/Metatton, and the Annoying Dog (and like every other character but they are some SERIOUS examples; Papyrus is related to all of them so we'll include him here too)
Papyrus also mentions multiple endings and TOTALLY also worked with Doctor Alphys
In summary: Alphys worked with the Annoying Dog to create the Undertale game that exists in our universe, and Sans and Papyrus and Mettaton know about it. SOMEHOW, the game came into our universe, possibly through the mind of Toby Fox, as he is connected to the Annoying Dog and is merely a vessel in this world for it
Or....something. I am very tired and so this theory is just me word-vomiting in a post but SOMEONE who is smarter than me PLEASE look into it bc I really think I'm onto something. Like, could Toby Fox, in all his 4th-wall breaking glory, possibly be making himself a character (OUTSIDE of the Annoyimg Dog) in the lore of Undertale?? Am I just crazy??? Probably.
Could this all be connected to Gaster in some way, or the face in Flowey's tv screen when he's Omega Flowey????
HELP
EDIT: There's also anlot of fourth wall breaking with Sans and Papyrus especially, who are heavily theorized to be from another Universe already, possibly the world of DELTARUNE, so it would make sense that they would be able to affect other alternate universes as well or at least know about them, possibly affecting them through messages
Another thought: Sans is shown in the game to talk about money a lot, has many jobs, is super mysterious. What if one way they get money is getting currency from OUR world and converting it, or exchanging it? HMM???
