MARVEL RIVALS - LOKI LAUFEYSON With a Cat Hybrid Reader

Note(s): Merry Christmas to you too and a happy new year! Even if I'm a little late to respond aha, much love to you anon for being my first Marvel Rivals request <3 I'm assuming you mean a reader who can transform into a cat, so that's what I wrote for. I had already begun writing before I could ask questions so I'm sorry if that's not accurate.

He's either such an asshole about it (affectionate), or surprisingly adorable.

If you transform around the house daily, even without him present, he has a nasty habit of just waltzing up to you and picking you up. Whether he then sits down with you on his lap, or simply does it to torment you changes with his mood. One second he's calling you a stupid animal, the next an adorable animal, and then he's practically unintelligible while praising you on his lap.

The two of you love to transform into cats and curl up next to a fireplace. Loki has found he feels more pliable and calm when in a cats body, although he doesn't like anybody but you touching him. Especially not petting him. The two of you have placed small cat beds all over your house, so the both of you can transform and then lay down and relax.

Speaking of, I think Loki would be some kind of a large, skinny shorthair cat. He'd be the kind of cat who looks really ominous and who you confuse for a piece of clothing in the dark, so there's a bit of silliness. Not to mention how, if you're in a humanoid form, he goes out of his way to try and torment you. Scratching and biting your ankles, stealing your food, he's a nightmare.

I do think that at least partly, you two can understand one another in cat form based primarily on body language and sometimes a vocal response, like hissing or meowing. Something Loki loves to do when you're both cats is randomly hit you out of nowhere, his slick black paw just baps you and then he's completely gone.

Loki's favourite pastime, even more than cuddling next to a fireplace, is to have you transformed and sat in his lap sleeping while he reads a good book. His fingers glide over your fur, scratching behind your ears, and sometimes he may even put the book down to coo at you for a few minutes.

I believe he would only allow you to put him in your lap or pick him up in cat form if you tell him it's because you want to appreciate and worship him, otherwise he feels it's insulting. If you praise him while doing it then absolutely feel free, carry him around, place him in your lap, you can even ask him to transform into his cat form just to do it and he will. But you must make him feel loved. Don't expect to start a task when you've begun loving him or he hisses and bites and scratches. Pay full attention to him and only him.

He's always joking that you need a bell collar, not exactly in a completely flirty way, more so in a majority demeaning and slight hint of flirty way. Especially if you're a more quiet person, he says it's so he can make sure where you are so you don't sneak up on him. If you think that's too far, he will stop, but don't expect his condescending nature to go away. That will never happen.

If your feline qualities happen to extend to things like being attracted to laser pointers, even while in a more humanoid form, he will absolutely use that to his advantage. Loki refuses to be anything less than obnoxious about it, he will use his powers to create a small point of light to attract your gaze, adoring the way your eyes go wide and follow it as if your life depends on it.

If you're weak willed, he will make you chase it by moving it around, cooing at how cute you are all the while. Of course this gets embarrassing and old fast, so you'd better develop some kind of residence to the cursed laser pointer.

Despite his teasing and mischievous nature, Loki helps you keep your fur well groomed. In his own way. He definitely knows how to take care of any type of hair, even animal kinds, and how to make sure they're shiny and soft and strong. But don't ever think that he'd get his hands dirty cleaning you himself. You, yourself, will do that, or he can get somebody else to. He, however, will not lifting a finger.

Hypocritically, he expects you to take care of him in cat form, and sometimes his Asgardian form, too.

"Come here." Loki purrs, coaxing you over with a single, curled finger, his lips twisted into that signature grin of his. But, whether you obey or not, he's the one who closes the distance, he's the one who kneels down to reach your height and holds a hand to your ear, poking one of them. It's an annoying feeling, there's nothing nice about being poked, especially when he does that with such an annoying look on his face. "They're a little awkward looking, aren't they?" He hums, chuckling at your huffed look.

Slightly confused, you meow, what would be a cute sound to anybody else Loki knows is you inquiring about the sudden interest in your feline features. You've had them ever since you've known him after all. But, he simply flicks you on the forehead. "Don't question me, mortal."

After a thousand years of agony, Loki looks to the woman who kneels by his side – his jailer, his torturer, his wife – and asks for a different story. Hers.

Meet Sigyn (she/her)

Human. Powerless. Weak. At least, that's what everyone tells her - and what she would have the Gods believe. Conning her way into the heart of the Gods' court, a young Sigyn must navigate the treacherous thorns of Aesir politics if she wants to live long enough to avenge her father's murder and allow his vengeful draug to find peace. Fearing to love and lose again, as she lost her father, she shuns connections or intimacy, honing herself into a weapon of vengeance against the strongest men in all the worlds.

Meet Loki (any/all)

Ancient and unknowable, yet frightfully immature, Loki plays many roles: the Gods' jester, their monstrous pet, their simultaneous saboteur and saviour. He (or she, or they) is the most unpredictable thing about the Aesir's deadly courts. That makes him dangerous. Sigyn should avoid him, especially as a fragmented prophecy warns that their fates are intertwined. But as that prophecy unfurls into a plot to destroy the Gods and the Nine Worlds they inhabit, with Loki at its heart, Sigyn must venture close enough to the Liesmith to risk being burnt.

Quote: I was neither tall nor beautiful. I lacked the soulful eyes and luscious figure of a Vanir, or a Ljósálf’s slender limbs and sugar-spun features. My mousy-brown hair was my thinnest attribute, and I wore it in a sensible bun, which, by dint of its roundness, rather resembled the rest of me. But of all my many unremarkable qualities, most mundane by far was my face. With its weak jaw and beaky nose, a kind skald might call it ‘homely’, a crueller one, ‘huckery’. Yet all would agree on one thing: Sigyn Narisdottir was utterly forgettable. Who would see me in Queen Freyja’s shadow? Having conned my way into her service, it would be easy to journey to Ásgarð in her company. Then I would find the god who slew my father, and have my revenge.

"My pride is wounded, frost giant." He smiled to soften the words. "Tell me your secret, to balm the sting." Loki watched the bobbing horizon with a vague eye. "It's a trick I am loathe to give away," he said distantly. "One that saves my skin no less than once per moon. Sometimes far more." Odin said nothing. Only waited. Loki could pretend at reticence all he wanted, but Odin could already feel the answers pressing against the small giant's lips. Tell me, Loki. Who else but I will truly appreciate your brilliance? Loki was silent, winding his hands into the reins, and he watched the path in front of them for long enough that Odin was compelled to say, "It must be useful indeed."

As the author states, this is "an attempt to reconcile the idea of Loki and Odin as blood brothers with the Marvel canon." They engage in a match of wits, Odin being drawn to Loki's power and beauty, but all good things must come to an end.

Lucky for him it’s not too random, his sporadic time jumps and flickering in and out of reality is centered on this vaguely familiar superhero he remembered Clockwork mentioning and he doesn’t quite know why.

MARVEL RIVALS - LOKI LAUFEYSON With a Shy Secret Admirer Headcanons!

Note(s): I'm sorry this came out a bit late, college stressed me out so bad my body and mind did a factory reset. I'll be trying to finish the rest of my requests weekly.

"Oh?" Loki's eyes are light, something unusual for the trickster. Almost eager, they flick between you and the paper that's held loosely in his hand, the usual hint of amusement in his upturned lips. "You wrote these? Well, I can't say I'm not flattered, but you are aware I've been courting you for quite some time, yes?"

You and Loki would most likely know each other prior to you becoming his secret admirer, after all, he is a bit of a flirt and you're most likely one of many that he's charmed over the years. But, for him to accept your proposal, which is how I intend to write this as to avoid angst, he would need to reciprocate your feelings. In short, he'd probably be actively courting you while you do this.

It'd mostly be insignificant things, not killing you, maybe paying you a compliment every now and then, and maybe, just maybe, if he's feeling generous he'll find it in his heart to give you a gift. Typically it's jewellery, something that reflects him, gold with green jewels are his favourite. Necklaces are a no brainer, they're so easy to spot, and it's so easy to tell who it's from, too (You'll be lucky if he doesn't engrave his name on the damn thing).

Of course, he loves to tease you. It's so fun to see you squirm and try to hide away, even if he can't see the effect of the blood rushing there, he likes to hold a hand to your face every now and then to see if it's hot. One of his favourites is to whisper plans of mischief, and maybe try and get you to tag along in his next prank or attempt to steal the throne, it depends on his mood, really.

Infuriatingly, however, you don't seem to pick up on his obvious flirtations. He immediately decides that's an issue on your part, but he'll indulge you and give an extra flirty, witty remark every now and then. Wait- you're still not- oh you frustrate him endlessly! He's got half a mind to smite you, you know!

The thing is, Loki enjoys a good mystery and a thrilling hunt, but what he wants most of all is to be adored, worshiped, have thousands at his feet begging and pleading just for him to spare them a glance. So, when he starts getting little trinkets wrapped in bows, with papers written full of heartfelt devotion... Well, how can a God refuse such wonderful praise?

It's around that time of annoyance and pining, his stubbornness refusing to allow him to confess first, you must make the first move as it's obviously you who is obsessed with him, that he actually begins to receive your gifts. In such random places too, sometimes even tucked in the pocket of his clothes! Not that he doesn't admire the bravery to do such a thing.

At first he doesn't really look deep into it, he's content to find the very obviously placed gifts and doesn't care much for where they're found. As long as he's getting the attention he rightfully deserves, he doesn't care who it's from. Why should he need to know who loves him when he's being loved either way?

But, when he does want to find out this secret admirer's identity, perhaps in a ploy to make you jealous and confess, it's when he realises that it's you. The handwriting, the way of speaking, grammar, punctuation, and the nail in the coffin is when he catches you placing a note in his quarters while invisible.

This works out brilliantly.

Not only does it confirm in Loki's mind that you're utterly infatuated and obsessed with him, but it makes him believe that you were secretly aware of his courting all along. That you, given your shy nature, had done this to play into his trickster personality. He can't say he isn't impressed by your wits! (Someone please get him a reality check...)

Naturally, Loki plans something sweet yet embarrassing for his your confession, and despite his want for love and attention, he supposes that he'll make it a private affair. After all, he does want you to admit your love for him and giving you a panic attack would probably only drive you away.

The gardens are certainly beautiful this time of day, not bright enough to burn your eyes but not dark enough so you can't see, it's perfect. Not to mention quiet. Many people prefer to admire the gardens after their meals, either in the morning or in the night, but strangely never the evening, which leaves you by yourself. It's peaceful.

Yet the peace, as usual, is interrupted by a certain prince.

You turn around when you hear your name being called, your brows shooting upwards when you realise it's Loki. What could he need? Is he planning another prank? No matter, either way you're clearly involved. So, you wave a friendly hand and hope that you can ignore the sickly butterflies in your stomach that flutter harder when the sound of his shoes click closer and closer towards you.

"I want to speak with you." Loki hums, coming to a halt only a meter away from you.

You ask what he wants to speak with you about and he searches in his pocket for a moment until he finds a small piece of paper, holding it out in his palm almost like an offering. It looks familiar. Hesitant, you feel your fingers pinch a corner and take it for yourself, dread setting in your stomach as you realise. He figured it out.

When you look up sharply to explain, his face is inches from yours. The action causes your cheeks to get unbelievably hot, and even if the blood rushing to your face isn't visible, Loki knows you, he knows your tells. "I admire your worship, darling." He whispers, eyes narrowing as a sly grin grows on his lips. "But I would prefer it to be in person."

The Bifrost Incident character designs!

Some notes:

Without getting into too much detail, the idea I had was that in the past the style was more of the 80s rock scene, while in the present it’s evolved a little into the classic Memphis fashion that we all think of when we think of the 80s. If, like me, you wish there was more than just Lyf’s outfit to portray all this, you can perhaps imagine the mechs prison gang decked out in the most garish 80s style you can imagine.

Music inspo: rock music! While rock wasn’t invented in the 80s, it was a transformative time for the scene, especially for hard rock and heavy metal. It was a little hard choosing the 80s as the time period without leaning in to the psychedelic shapes and colors, especially when my mom said it didn’t look “80s enough”. I did try to incorporate some of the Lovecraftian aspect, but I think I could have done more in that sense.

The fashion style is meant to be a mix of 1000 (Norse Mythology) and 1980s (rock scene).

why taking commissions for fanfics can KILL Archive of Our Own and fanfic culture as a whole

okay, so thing is, fanfics are allowed — as in they’re not banned — because nobody is supposed to be profiting off of copyrighted characters.

this is why popular site like Archive of Our Own is allowed to be up and running, because no one is supposed to be making money from fanfics.

the fact AO3 is allowed to be up and running, unfortunately, can and will most likely change if people start normalizing commissioning fanfics and making profit off of them.

because the second those big companies learn people are profiting off of their copyrighted characters, the target they will attack after you (in terms of legal action) is a platform like Archive of Our Own, which will likely ruin it all for everybody and every fandom.

imagine Archive of Our Own getting shut down because fanfics were banned because people were profiting off of them. (I know AO3 isn’t only about fanfics, but since it’s mostly known for fanfics, it will most likely get targeted and that will most likely mean it’ll get shut down if worst comes to worst.)

honestly. most people write fanfics in their free time for free out of passion and love they have for their favorite characters.

people read fanfics for free because that’s their source of happiness.

I’m not saying there will be no fanfics left in this world if they really are banned, because people will always find a way. but it WILL be so much harder having to sneak around and find a way to post fanfics without them getting removed at best, the authors getting sued at worst. and it WILL be harder for readers to find your works if we have to censor key words and character names in order to avoid getting caught.

it’s so much easier like this, we can freely post fanfics without having to hide and censor key words or worrying about anything.

no, I’m not making this post for the sake of those big companies. this post isn’t about “hey, don’t profit off of their characters”. it’s about “hey, don’t risk ruining fanfics culture as a whole for everybody by profiting off of them and putting a platform like Archive of Our Own in jeopardy.”
