I'm back again with my silly saiyan ideas. this time, I went down a rabbit hole and made a discovery from my fav girl, Bulla.

but let's start with her grandfather. so we know King Vegeta. other than his sons having carbon copies appearance from their dad, he has a recognisable jewellery. a large pendant. (tbh I liked the 90's anime more cus it's more pretty)

while I was looking through Bulla's wiki page, one of her trivia made an assumption that her name could be a reference to a roman amulet called a bulla

interestingly, I decided to check out more info, and it peaks more interest to me. this is what a bulla amulet looks like. and yeah it's true.

since a bulla is meant for ancient roman boys to wear, I found that ancient roman girls also wear a similar pendant with the same purpose of protecting them and it called a Lunula. also, both genders remove their amulets when they reach adulthood.

imo, it's prettier than the bulla amulet. now these two amulets remind me so much of king Vegeta's two necklaces. and here's where the headcanons come in.

the royal saiyan family has the same tradition with the romans of giving their sons a bulla and the daughters a lunula amulet for their protection. (here's where I also add my own twist with this) after coming of age, they can still keep their amulet as a betrothal necklace for their married partners. okay avatar reference I see you.

maybe that explains why King Vegeta has two different necklaces. if his wife has died by that point, he continue wearing her necklace to remember her (aww) and also why Vegeta thought the name Bulla wasn't so bad for his daughter cus it referred to their traditional jewellery.

also Vegeta would try to bring back this amulet tradition for his children. he thinks it's too late for Trunks so he starts off with Bulla. from what he remembered from his late father, Vegeta had to craft his own by hand with gold and jewels. he had many failed attempts of making it, and not having time due to training and other stuff as he's doing this in secret. but finally, he's done creating the amulet. Bulla is already 4 now, but it's doesn't matter.

I really do like the idea of King Vegeta wearing his deceased wife’s jewelry/amulet as a tunnel way to show that he still respects her/things of her/is mourning her.

I always did like the idea that the amulets King Vegeta wears are the Saiyan equivalent of wearing a crown. Like the amulet symbolizes the royal status.

However, I’m going to have to to respectfully disagree with you on one thing you’ve stated. I really do not like King Vegeta’s design from the 90’s. The bright colors clash with one another and I don’t like the red tint in his hair. Too much red overall going on.

Now his design in the Broly Movie?? Now THATS an improvement! His hair, beard and outfit look better, I like the colors in his outfit, his armor is an improvement, his amulet looks nicer (fit for a king). Just overall it’s a much better look in my opinion. Also he looks HOT!

biggest reason i make so many flop posts on here is because everything i do reeks of the desperation to make a popular tumblr post. this is deliberate, because it is what protects me from ACTUALLY making a popular tumblr post. so long as i crave it, tumblr fame will never find me. it is only when i turn away, and accept my fate of obscurity, that people will lay their eyes upon me. and it WILL be because i tripped and fell on my stupid face while i was turning
