Promise of Wealth
Sylus gave you access to the entirety of his fortune, and yet you keep using it... on him?
In which the MC doesn't really care about his money so much.
Sylus and fem!MC fluff
Disclaimer: I've only been playing the game for less than two weeks so apologies for any mistakes.
---
To obtain power, one must have it.
It was a natural truth, one that he diligently followed. It took discipline to hone his instincts, experience to ensure success in his ventures, a raw, natural brutality that served to enhance his ideals and further his reputation not just as the leader of Onychinus, but as a conqueror known throughout the galaxy.
The simple utterance of his name invoked fear. The visage of him exuded wealth, so much so that he could buy himself a decent-sized country if he so wanted.
Sylus was perplexed.
He had all the wealth that he could possibly covet, is still planning to acquire. He owned several multi-million enterprises, resorts, hotels, villas and manors - all the material gains that one could only dream to have and made sure you had access to every single thing the moment the two of you made your relationship official.
He trusted you with his card, he's opened up your own bank account already filled with millions, acquired property and assets in your name. You could get anything that you'd want and he wouldn't bat an eye.
And yet the only purchase you made for yourself in the several months you've been together was a book that costed no more than twelve credits.
His brows furrowed when he saw the credit card reports. There were purchases made by you. Several, even. But the amounts of the transactions were unimpressive, with a few sizable purchases here and there. And he knew, of course he knew, exactly what those big purchases were.
The new leather coat the you had tailor made for him was hanging over his office sofa. The jeweled cuff links that you got for him twinkled prettily against the light of his desk lamp. You replaced his gun holster, saying that his other one was already worn.
He was sure that the twins were sporting new jackets with bulletproof lining seeing as the last ones got torn to shreds in a gun fight two months ago. Even Mephisto's perch in the living room was brand new.
The refrigerator was always stocked with a variety of ingredients that previously weren't in the usual lists, and after a conversation with the chef and the staff, he knew that they weren't the ones getting the groceries in the last six months.
It's not like it upset him that you didn't use his wealth. It was just rather confusing and amusing to a degree. Was this you being stubborn, perhaps? Or was this your way of keeping your independence? Hm, it wasn't like he was preventing you from doing your work. Not at all.
He thought about looking at the purchases from your own card, but then thought against it. From the time you've spent together, he doubted that the results would be any different.
But he could ask.
You weren't difficult to find. At this time of day he could often find you in the living room, curled up on the couch with a book or fiddling with your phone, and today wasn't any different.
Soft music played from the record player next to the sofa as the curtains near the air conditioner rustled. You hand was outstretched, resting on nothing but air as you slept, the book that you were so diligently reading was strewn on the ground.
Sylus breathed out a chuckle as he leaned against the doorframe, just watching the steady rise and fall of your chest, shushing Mephisto when the mechanical companion fluttered his wings a little too hard.
But your training as a hunter wasn't for nothing. Heightened senses, even when asleep, was part of the package Sylus had to accept and fully expected when both of you moved past simply lovers to an official couple.
The flutter of your eyelashes was slight, but there was an alertness to your gaze the moment you awoke, quickly scanning the room without so much as budging any part of your body, and immediately calmed when you realized where you are and who was in the room.
"Mm."
"Hello, sweetie."
From beneath the covers you raised your other arm, reaching towards him when he strode towards you. It would be so easy for him to engulf you in his entirety. It wasn't lost on him that his physicality was so much bigger than you, but it was one of the things that you loved about him - loved at how easy it was for him to just pick you up and hold you, envelop you into his embrace.
"Sylus."
He loved the way you purred out his name, loved the way you just molded in his arms like warmed putty, soft and pliable as you positioned yourself in a more comfortable spot on his lap. He picked up the book from the floor.
"This is the book you bought."
"Yes."
"Why didn't you buy the others?"
You shrugged, pulled the book that hung loosely from his fingers before showing him the cover. "How would I know if the series is good if I don't buy the book first? It's a waste if it sucks."
He looked at you quizzically, smirked. Ruffled your hair.
"Oh, are you afraid to waste my money, sweetie? Fifty credits isn't a sum to be concerned about."
"Still," you pressed, drilling a finger into the spot that you know was ticklish, laughing when he grabbed your arm and bit your finger. "I'm not wasting shit on a mediocre book."
With your hand still in his grasp, he maneuvered you enough to have you be on top of his chest as he took your position on the couch, those long, long fingers of his kneading the dip between your hips. "Is it mediocre?"
"No. It's pretty good, actually."
"Then buy the rest of it."
"What if the third one sucks?"
"Sweetie," he took your chin, had you look into the deep scarlet of his eyes as amusement danced in it. "Just buy it or I'll buy it for you."
The look in your eye was indescribable to him. It was as if you were searching something that she couldn't quite grasp, couldn't quite find. He lightly bit the lip that you jutted out when you pouted.
"Do you not like spending my money?"
"I spend your money."
"Yes, but you spend it on us. Not on you."
Your brows furrowed. "So?"
"Darling," there was resignation on his voice as he flicked your forehead.
You frowned as you sat up, straddled him, your hands splayed on his wide chest. "I don't need anything. You already buy me things."
"And you need not more?"
"Sylus," you dipped down, cupped his cheeks. Kissed the tip of his nose. "I don't buy anything else because you already get me the things I could possibly need and more. So much more."
Those scarlet eyes regarded you as his fingertips ran up and down your back. You knew all too well how cold those eyes could get, how dangerous his hands could be. You knew all to well how easy it would be for him to snap you like a twig. You've seen it many times before, after all.
And yet he looked at you with such warmth right now that if you were a stranger, you would never be able to tell that this was Sylus, leader of Onychinus.
"I'll get you the entire universe if you so wish it."
And you knew, deep in your heart you know, that it was the truth. His truth.
So you told him your truth as well.
You straightened your position on his lap, careful to not... excite any other part of him as you reached from under your shirt, pulled out the necklace that he gave you all those months ago.
It was a simple little thing. A sizable ruby lovingly enveloped by two crow's wings made of polished silver. It was one of the first things he gave you when you accepted him, when you accepted his love and his force of will. When you wore it, you showed him that you accepted all of him, including his shadows, including his pain, including the violence that followed him wherever he went.
No matter how much glitter he decided to get you, all the shiny things he draped on you, you always came back to this necklace. It was a promise to him, as much as it was a promise to you.
"You gave me stability," you said to him as you rubbed circles on his muscled torso. "I won't have to worry about making rent anymore or if I'll have enough money to buy food for the next week. You gave me a home, you gave me companionship, you gave me warmth." And with every single gift of his, you tapped his lips. "Do you drive me insane? Yeah, you do." A kiss to his cheek, his lips. "But I'm sure I drive you insane much, much more."
Stillness descended upon you both, the music from the gramophone the only thing to indicate that time did not, in fact, stop.
"You gave me family, Sy."
Those large hands of his moved, prying your fingers from his chest as he slipped them between your fingertips before pulling you closer, gently, every so gently, peppering your neck with tiny little nips. He sighed.
"You will be my undoing."
You smiled, nuzzled into the crook of his neck. "As you will be mine."
So there you two laid, heartbeats and breaths syncing, his one hand stroking your back as he lulled you back to sleep.
And thought it probably wasn't the time to tell you that he bought a tropical island in your name.
---
still trying to grasp how I wanna write him so it might take a bit more practice haha I do have more sylus fluff planned. feel free to send ideas tho (preferably angst, hurt/comfort, fluff. i don't really like writing smut that much)

Rating various small thylacines on how well they fit as a joey in Artemisia's pouch
Tumblr media
If you have recently acquired a Charlie Bears Pathfinder yourself, you'll have noticed their fairly spacious pouch! Wondering if there are any littler thylacines out there that are a good fit? Wonder no more!
(Although uh, good luck finding some of them for sale...)
First: yes, the pouch opens at the back and it looks a bit funny! That's an accurate thylacine pouch! It's actually a fairly normal way round for a marsupial pouch to be, when it's not on a bipedal kangaroo.
That said... there are a lot of photos of a plush thylacine's rear end in here. You may 'teehee' a little bit, but be decent!
Joeys will be placed in the pouch head first when possible, with their backs down and their feet up, as they are usually depicted riding in there.
Chicory (Bocchetta mini): 7/10
A decent size! A bit of a squash to get them in there, their hips are a bit wide especially, but once they're in their tail sticks out pretty cutely. Maybe with a little stuffing removed this would be even better!
Also, of all the thylacines on this list, this one is the easiest to obtain for sure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Celery (a different Bocchetta mini, either an older style or the keyring version without the keyring...): 9/10
Squishier, thinner and more flexible than Chicory, so fits in really well! A very good joey!
Though... One thing with the Bocchettas is that their muzzles are so stubby, and they look quite out of place next to Artemisia's snooty snoot...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dill (Paradise Ark mini): 6/10
Not too bad, but his legs are kinda tall and sturdy and it's a bit hard to get the back ones in. It's like he's kicking poor Artem in the stomach.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wooden thylacine (NOM Handcrafted): 1/10
Technically fits in fine but uh... Ouch???
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Purslane (it's a coin purse... by Tasile): 4/10
Pretty easy to fit in there at least since it's mostly unstuffed aside from the head, but too silly to be a joey... It has straps on the back, that's not very joeylike. Doesn't even have a tail to poke out cutely!
(Also I have literally never seen another of these before, so not very accessible...)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Felted finger puppet from EverestPetsSupply on Etsy: 5/10
Also a bit too silly although it fits well. Gains an extra point for the lack of straps and for the funny little pawsies looking extra cute there, but still no tail!
... Since it's got the finger puppet hole, does that technically count as a pouch too?? If only I had a micro thylacine to fit in there lol. Nested thylas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now for some I made myself...
Saffron (old tiny version of the ones I sell): 5/10
Though small, he was actually a bit tricky to fit in there because he's pretty solidly stuffed with beans... Not very squishy. Alright once he's in place though.
Also, the bright colours do not match Artem's realism at all. Not related, you can't fool me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nettle (modded bashful Jellycat): 1/10
Wh... no! Don't be silly! That's clearly not going to work! Sleeping bag???
You look like you need a pillow.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There we go. Now get outta there...
Tumblr media
Nutmeg and Paprika: 5/10 or 9/10
They can be twins! Thylacines were actually meant to have more than one joey at a time, so that's cool! However, fitting more than one in at a time is definitely a struggle... Might be time to start leaving these ones in the den, Artem...
One at a time they fit very well! Much squishier than Saffron was.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Clove (Cinnamon's joey): 0/10
Hey! That's someone else's baby, put that back! Far too small, completely the wrong scale. Fits great in Cinnamon's pouch instead where she belongs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Artem's actual joey who isn't named yet: 10000/10
Perfect joey, fits in there easily but doesn't fall out, is exactly where they should be!! Not actually visible from the outside when in place because they're not old enough and just soooo snug in there.
Ok actually -1 point because sometimes the little magnetic dummy falls off in there lol. Otherwise perfect babby.

White Star
I know the fandom often makes fun of White Star. However, when it comes to power and influence, it is a terrifying opponent. It cannot be forgotten that in the original timeline, White Star first appeared 20 years after the beginning of the war in front of Choi Han. Nothing happened only thanks to regressor. We also saw the diary of the God of Death, a lot of people should have died. In the original timeline Roan kingdom would be destroyed, the Whipper kingdom would lose to the Empire. Jungle would be under the rule of Elisneh. It's likely that many places would be destroyed by dead mana because of the Empire. The dragons we met would be dead. Bud would probably have been killed too, after all, White Star was hunting him. The whales had a war with the mermaids, but it is possible that they later lost. White Star would have the most powerful ancient powers. After all, he was trying to obtain Sky Eating Water and we know how powerful this power is. It's better not to mention the balance of the 5 attributes. Additionally, it has races with a dark attribute on its side. He managed to gain a lot of sacrifice, so his Sky attribute would be more powerful than what we have seen. He has its own kingdom, and Kingdoms that work with him.He also got rid of two dangerous people, Saint and Holy Maiden. There is no one who can use the artifact left by the Sun God. The corrupt Church would realize too late how dangerous the enemy is, it is impossible for them to sacrifice their lives to purify dead mana. It was obvious what their reaction would be after we already seen their reaction when Prince Valentino asked for help. There is also no one who can use fire of destruction, because the person who took this power was an elf, a person with no money and without correct acquired power. The world tree would be destroyed and replaced by a new tree controlled by him. There would also be no weapon capable of completely destroying his soul.
There is something that seems interesting to me. The proposal the God of Death gave to Choi Jung Soo. Nameless 1 already had Choi Han, since a second Single Lifers is needed. That could mean Choi Han lost. It's possible that he didn't die, but something worse happened to him. From being controlled by illusions to becoming a Half Blood-like monster or becoming a demon. It is possible that hunters could have killed him later. CJS preferred to sacrifice his life to his closest family. KRS has become someone whose future cannot be predicted. Thanks to this, KRS has become someone who can change the future of others. KRS read the book with the necessary information. Besides, he had the power, intelligence, experience. It's not that WS was an idiot, this person was terrifying. He managed to guess that Cale was a transmigrator, that the person in this body wasn't the real Cale. Even if the other theories were wrong. We have to remember how unlikely it is that he is someone from another world. After all, he had too much information. While it is laughable to say that Cale works with the Gods, he was actually partly right. Cale was sent to this world by the God of Death, and the God likes him and offered him the position of a saint. Even thank to God he gained the power that allowed him to imprison White Star. White Star lost because Cale had help from God and was loved by nature. And so Cale is someone that nature likes, elementals are part of nature, the world tree has lost branches for him many times, even gave him the oldest root. Dragons liked him because of his power and character. Elves were interested in him many times because of 5 attributes, so different from each other. He did not discriminate against any race, so even the necromancers and dark elves cooperated with him. Of course, Cale is also someone who survived the apocalypse, he managed to become someone strong even in such circumstances. Even White Star who lived for 1000 years couldn't compare to how many difficult and demanding missions Cale completed while he was still in his old body. Because White Star has always had the power, he never had to fear that the monster would eat him, that if he lost, the people he protected would be next. I can say with confidence that Cale has a lot more experience even if he didn't live as long. Compared to White Star, Cale never took the easy path. I would also like to talk about the powers of these two, but that's for another time.

Anuradha - The Bridge To All Paths Pt.1
Services
The symbolism of Anuradha is the deer, an archway, a lotus, and a staff stick. I'll be doing a series of observations for this nakshatra that lays within 3'20 degrees to 16'40 in Scorpio. It is ruled by Saturn and its traditional ruler Mars crating a combination of a disciplined, focused, yet gentle mastermind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are parts of the lotus flower that reaches down to the ground in the mud water, where it gets all its nutrients from, and it functions as a sort of plumbing system working made by nature. Anuradha native learns very early on how to alchemize and thrive in difficult environments. The other symbolism of this nakshatra is the staff, which is a mystical weapon that wields in magic powers to destroy the obstacle in front of it. There are many super hero or super villan themes within this nakshatra as well, so the magical themes are heavily present.
Anuradha is also associated to a very famous bird who didn't gain notoriety just for its sounds and songs, but its meanings. In Old English, “nightingale” translates to “night singer. It has appeared in many thousands of poems from Homer to the twentieth century, and even in ancient times it acquired an almost formulaic meaning as the bird of spring, of night, and of mourning.
Nightingales are also often associated with the concept of love, particularly romantic love. This connection can be traced back to the behavior of male nightingales during mating season. When attempting to court a female, a male nightingale will sing intricate songs throughout the night, making their presence known and winning the heart of their desired mate.
Kristin Hannah author of "The Nightingales" has her Moon in Anuradha. A critically acclaimed book for its powerful story and message of violence, love, resistance, and alliances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also have to recall through the story of Radha and her "impossible" love. Anuradha individuals tend to run into someone they fall deeply in love with, become devoted to them, but lose the connection and has a hard time moving on from it even after finding the "perfect" partner. This plays out the most in a man's chart, and in women they tend to be the "one that got away". Although, it could of course happen either way regardless of gender.
Tumblr media
Anuradha natives might run pretty often into certain people and quickly develop a deep fixations with them, hence why they sometimes end up with a partner/spouse who is overprotective and a bit neurotic. This usually occurs when that powerful sense of devotion is placed upon someone else in a codependent way. They are also the ones who want to listen and resolve problems of others because they feel to a core level that the entire world is their friend.
Tumblr media
It is normal for these natives to lose friends and connections along their way, but at the end their close circle and alliances become essential to their development. Saturn ruling this nakshatra gives it enough seriousness and discipline to understand that quality is truly more important than quantity, so having small networking groups is also common.
They seek those who lay behind the shadows and can see the bigger picture, hence why they are often the left hand of Jyestha natives who play the role of the one who obtains it all by sacrificing it all, but at some point one or the other develops an unhealthy attachment that leads to a major karmic point for both.
Their attraction is almost fated because they are yoni consorts after all. If they are able to mutually filtrate all their darkness, they can become a power couple.
It is quite common to see super heroes who rely on a group in order to fight against chaos have Anuradha placements. There is a strong desire to unite above all and bring fruits later on within this nakshatra.
Tumblr media
In general, the lighter side of this nakshatra are beautiful, worth knowing, and exploring as well. It tells us the importance of learning to control our own shadow who wishes to use alliances for self gain, and rather use it allow others to connect the collective harmoniously.
In the next part of this nakshatra I will exploring the darker aspects. Continue to Part 2!

« Private foundations have very few legal restrictions. They are required to donate at least 5 percent of their assets every year to public charities—referred to as “nonprofit” organizations. In exchange, the donors are granted deductions, enabling them to reduce their income taxes dramatically. This arrangement enables the wealthy to simultaneously receive generous tax subsidies and use their foundations to impact society as they please. In addition, the process often confers an aura of generosity and public-spiritedness on the donors, acting as a salve against class resentment.
Because of all these advantages, private philanthropic foundations proliferated among the ultra-wealthy during the last century. Today, they are commonplace, and rarely controversial, but Americans across the political spectrum once regarded the whole idea of private foundations with enormous suspicion. These aggregations of private wealth, intruding into the public arena, were seen as a form of unelected and unaccountable plutocratic power.
The practice began in the Gilded Age [when] John D. Rockefeller, sought legal permission from Congress to obtain a federal charter to set up a general-purpose private foundation whose broad mission was to prevent and relieve suffering and promote knowledge and progress. Critics, including the former president Theodore Roosevelt, assailed the idea, declaring, “No amount of charity in spending such fortunes can compensate in any way for the misconduct in acquiring them.” At the time, a parade of notable Americans testified in Congress against the creation of private foundations, including the Reverend John Haynes Holmes, who denounced them as “repugnant to the whole idea of a democratic society.”
. . . Rob Reich, a professor of political science at Stanford University and co-director of the Stanford Center for Philanthropy and Civil Society, explains that private foundations, which “represent virtually by definition plutocratic voices,” were “troubling because they were considered deeply and fundamentally anti-democratic…an entity that would undermine political equality, affect public policies, and could exist in perpetuity.”
Unable to gain congressional approval, Rockefeller got the New York state legislature to approve his plan. Legally, however, the Rockefeller Foundation, the granddaddy of all private foundations, was at first limited to promoting only education, science, and religion. Over time, however, the number of private foundations grew along with the kaleidoscope of issues into which they delved. By 1930, there were approximately two hundred private foundations, according to Reich. By 1950, the number had grown to two thousand, and by 1985 there were thirty thousand. In 2013, there were over a hundred thousand private foundations in the United States with assets of over $800 billion.
These peculiarly American organizations, run with little transparency or accountability to either voters or consumers yet publicly subsidized by tax breaks, have grown into 800-billion-pound Goliaths in the public policy realm. Richard Posner, the iconoclastic libertarian legal scholar, has called perpetual charitable foundations a “completely irresponsible institution, answerable to nobody,” and suggested that “the puzzle in economics is why these foundations are not total scandals.” »

The current psychological state in American society to day is a mix of fear and uncertainty, guilt and embarrassment, sadness and remorse. On the other side is vindication and entitlement, smugness and self absorption, cockiness and superiority.
Before we succumb to these emotions let’s just remember who we’re dealing with.
Trump. A man who forever wanted his father’s approval but could never obtain it. His low sense of self esteem manifested itself into bullying and preying on those without the financial, physical, or influential status he was born in to. Trump wasn’t smart enough, nor did he possess the integrity, to become successful through legitimate means so he took to a life of a conman. Trump is so pathetic he would call into radio shows pretending to be someone else and express his admiration for himself in disguise, telling the radio host how handsome Trump is, that he would be at a particular club at a particular time, inquiring why Trump wasn’t given awards. HE BANKRUPTED HIS CASINOS, squandered his inheritance and got in deep debt to Russian and Italian mobsters. He was chosen, after many actual business people declined, to be the lead in a reality television show. The makers of the show described their shock to find the offices of trump tower in shambles, outdated, and rundown. He accidentally won the 2016 election and had no idea what he was doing. He tanked the economy (Deja vu) completely failed during the only real crisis he faced, then, like a petulant child, threw a tantrum, lying about election results concluding with a failed coup on Jan 6th 2021. We see how it’s going now…
Musk was given the capital to pursue his business endeavors by his father whose wealth came from the exploitation of black South Africans in the gem and diamond mines he acquired during the apartheid era. With help, PayPal was a success. He made a few good acquisitions but was never an engineer or creator. Musk is the largest recipient of U.S. government subsidies ever. Using the attempt to confront the climate crisis as a vehicle for financial gain. Which would be fine had he remained ethical and not used his vast taxpayer provided wealth for political influence. He is unable to maintain a romantic relationship and many of his children despise him. He now artificially inseminates women half his age because he doesn’t have the personality to create a bond with them. His theories are that of someone who spends too much time in alternate realities and not in actual reality. He betrayed his clientele then wonders why the left is so mean and boycotting his car company. He had potential but blew it with his trans hate and right wing, racist ideology.
These are broken people. Losers who have to project their worth by putting others down. Selfish, greedy, immoral, rude individuals who hate themselves so they want others to be as miserable as they are.
These aren’t great military men, or social heroes, they inherited what they possess, they didn’t earn it. Don’t stress these clowns. Keep on them. Keep ridiculing them. Keep standing up to them. When a bully fronts on you, the only way to stop them is to push back, and pop em in the face if they continue.
This rendition of Cake’s “he’s going the distance” (he’s rigging the system) is fantastic!! Thought I’d share.
Keep up the fight. Light drowns out dark. Love overpowers hate. Good is stronger than evil.

The Valley of Fear: The Tragedy of Birlstone
Tunbridge Wells, which became Royal Tunbridge Wells in 1909 as it had long been popular with the royals, is a former spa town about 30 miles SE of central London and still a tourist destination. Well connected to London, it had three railway stations, two of which remain open with Southeastern services and the other now being the eastern terminus of the heritage Spa Valley Railway. It has also gained a reputation as being peak "Middle England" and middle class:
While Birlstone is fictious, 10-12 miles west of Royal Tunbridge Wells lies East Grinstead, in West Sussex since 1974 county boundary changes. The Queen Victoria Hospital there was a pioneer in plastic reconstructive surgery, starting during the Second World War mostly with badly burned RAF servicemen who had undergone experimental treatment. These formed the "Guinea Pig Club", a social group that continued with annual reunions until 2007, when it was wound down due to the increasing frailty of its members; the final two members died in 2023 aged 101.
East Grinstead is the northern terminus of the Bluebell Railway, whose Victorian-era Metropolitan Railway carriages have featured in Sherlock Holmes adaptations.
Hugo de Capus is fictitious. The 'Red King' in this conference refers to William II of England, aka Wiliam Rufus or 'red', possibly due to having red hair. The third son of William the Conqueror, he succeeded to the English throne in 1087 on his father's death (first son Robert got Normandy) and reigned until 1100 when he got an arrow through the lung while out hunting. The circumstances are suspicious on that one. With no wife or children - not even a mistress - along with posthumous comments by medieval writers - have led to speculation he was gay, bisexual or celibate.
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was directly inspired in the layout of Birlstone by this place and credits it in the book:
A windlass is a device used for lifting heavy weights:
"Sawed-off shotguns" had been used by Confederate cavalry during the American Civil War; they remain popular for police and military use due to being easier to use inside buildings.
In the US, acquiring or modifying one requires paying a registration fee and tax with the ATF.
In the UK, they became very popular for criminal use due to the ease of obtaining and modifying shotguns, especially for armed robberies. This resulted in the 1968 Firearms Act, modified in 1988 following a mass shooting in Hungerford the previous year that saw a man kill sixteen people with a shotgun before turning the weapon on himself.
The current law is that a shotgun with a barrel below 24 inches in length or an overall length below 40 inches cannot be owned on a shotgun certificate - which can be obtained from the police subject to a background check and generally having a good reason. They are treated as Section 1 firearms and you need a firearms certificate, much harder to get, and only weapons with non-removable magazines of less than two rounds i.e. your standard smooth-bore double-barrel type. Pump-action or other shotguns below that length are straight up illegal, possession being a serious criminal offence.
Railway crashes were sadly very common in late Victorian England.

Idk if you've already gotten a request like this, but maybe something very wholesome from either the Build Team or Autobot Brothers? It can be something like them on a mission and joking around? Or even something wholesome between both groups?? (Wedge and X-Brawn are my favorites from RID 2001)
Thank you so much for being patient while I sort of silently went through some health issues. I wanted to write a whole new cake for you, so here you are!
Requests | AO3
“We’ve got ‘em on the run, boys!” X-Brawn called out to his teammates.
The Predacons were up to their usual antics and schemes, trying to acquire some form of energy that Dr. Onishi knew about. The Autobot Brothers had been dispatched to intercept, but since the Build Team had been closer, they arrived on scene first and had done a fairly good job holding them up until the Brothers could join the fray. And color X-Brawn surprised, but when they arrived, they found that Wedge hadn’t gone and gotten himself stuck in the clutches of their enemies! He seemed to be getting better about that lately. Still got caught now and again, but it was happening less and less, for sure.
The Autobot Brothers quickly split and teamed up with a Build Team member of their choosing to beat back their foes; X-Brawn rushing to assist Wedge and Heavy Load against Gas Skunk and Sky-Byte, while Prowl helped Grimlock with Slapper, and Side Burn fought Dark Scream beside Hightower. At that point, it obviously wasn’t a fair fight. The Predacons were getting their tails beat so bad that after some traded blows and firefights, they turned tail and began to flee with the McGuffin they had obtained this time.
“But we need to get that stolen energy back!” Wedge exclaimed in response to X-Brawn’s declaration. “We can catch up, right?”
“Right you are, little bud,” X-Brawn confirmed. “And I got just the thing.” He promptly transformed into his vehicle mode and exclaimed, “Hop on the hood there and hang on, Wedge!”
The orange bot blinked with shock and cast a glance at Heavy Load, either nonverbally asking for some sort of permission or wondering if this was really happening. Whatever it was, his spell was quickly broken by Heavy Load urging him on and the sounds of Prowl and Side Burn racing ahead. At which point, he practically scrambled onto X-Brawn’s roof and clung to it. “Ready!” he announced with an almost delighted tone.
“Yeeeeehaw!” X-Brawn hollered as he revved up his engine and tore after his brothers to join the chase. He most certainly did his usual hooting and whooping as he bounced over the rough terrain, but what gave him an extra bit of go was his passenger’s vocalizations joining his own.
Wedge was having the time of his life on X-Brawn’s roof, laughing and cheering as they not only caught up to Prowl, but passed right by him to start gaining on Side Burn.
Prowl shouted after them to remind them that this wasn’t a game, but really now, at this point? It absolutely was. They had the fight in the bag, and now was the time for fun! It took X-Brawn a moment, but his ability to expertly traverse the rocky terrain made it so that he was able to catch up to his sports car of a brother struggling with each rock he hit.
“Havin’ some trouble there, li’l brother?” X-Brawn teased. “Yer usually way faster than this.”
“Ugh! I need to get me some axles built like yours!” Side Burn complained loudly.
“Maybe you should just sit back, then!” Wedge goaded with a cocky grin as he drew his blaster. “Me and X-Brawn have this!”
“Hey! Don’t count me out!” the blue Autobot protested, but X-Brawn was already pulling away and getting to some ground with fewer rocks littering the path.
“Catch ya later, Side Burn!” his brother called back merrily as he got themselves closer to the Predacons. “Alright, Wedge! Think you got a shot?”
“Yep! No problem!” the orange bot chirped back. There was a second’s pause as the young mech took aim at Sky-Byte, the one clutching the stolen energy, and then a bolt fired from his blaster, hitting the shark’s lower jaw and forcing him to drop it as he yelped. “Just that easy!” Wedge bragged after landing the hit.
The Predacons yelled to each other over their loss, but still didn’t turn back, leaving their bounty behind in shame and allowing the Autobots to recover the stolen energy. Once the two teams had regrouped, Wedge erupted into a giddy recollection of his ride for his teammates to enjoy.
“I thought the rule was ‘brothers first’,” Side Burn griped, fixing X-Brawn with a childish pout.
“As long as the job got done with little to no incidents, I don’t really care,” Prowl stated decidedly. “X-Brawn and Wedge got the job done effectively. That’s all that matters.”
“We always get to be heroes, Side Burn,” X-Brawn pointed out with amusement. “Letting the kid have a turn won’t do you any harm.”
“And it really means a lot to me, X-Brawn,” Wedge put in now that he had finished recounting the exciting details to his team, a broad smile decorating his faceplate. “That was a ton of fun! Do you think we can maybe do that again some other time? It doesn’t even have to be in the middle of battle! Going for a joy ride like that was exhilarating!”
The oldest Autobot Brother felt his chest puff out a bit with gleeful pride. “Hey, I’d be more than happy to take you along for another ride sometime! Just let me know when you’ve got some time and we’ll make it work,” he promised.
“Like right now??” Wedge checked hopefully, the look of utter delight on the kid’s faceplate nothing less than infectious.
It was enough to get X-Brawn in the mood for it… not that it was ever that difficult anyway. The oldest Autobot Brother promptly transformed. “Hop on, pardner!” he urged, revving his engine to encourage the young bot on.
As if Wedge needed any more encouragement. The orange mech practically jumped on and locked his fingers on X-Brawn’s roof. “Let’s go, let’s go!” he cheered, getting a laugh out of the older Autobot before they rode off again, leaving their teams behind to finish up and report back to Prime.

Artwork by @hirodraga A campaign I started in June 2021 has finally concluded and this band of tomb robbers and grubby mercenaries archaeologists and brave adventurers have gone their separate ways at the end of their expedition. Starting from top left and then zig-zagging down to bottom right, here are their brief bios and character arc conclusions: Qiliq: orc ranger and party leader. Minor noble from the empire of Alamgir who got roped into a matter of family honor. His uncle, the patriarch of their family, had been disgraced and accused of cowardice. His uncle had subsequently undertaken an honor quest into a magical wasteland (the remnants of a collapsed civilization) with the promise of retrieving the crown of a long-dead tyrant as a trophy for the emperor. He disappeared instead, leaving Qiliq to both solve the mystery of his disappearance and to complete the quest. The party accomplished both objectives, recovering both his uncle's corpse and the crown. The tyrant's crown turned out to be a powerful, sentient magic item that began speaking to them in their dreams, preying on insecurities and tempting them into bargains. Almost all of them desired it for themselves, but in the end, Qiliq ended up possessing it. Instead of returning to Alamgir and presenting his emperor with a new prize, Qiliq turned to a conquistador path, using his newfound wealth from the expedition to hire more mercenaries and carve out his own bloody "kingdom" on the periphery of civilization.
Minerva: elven druid, common born retainer of a reactionary noble house in the elven empire of Melate. A spy inserted into the group to ensure that any elven artifacts recovered on the expedition were returned to their homeland. Over the course of the campaign, she made a bargain with the fey to betray her sponsors in favor of the empress for her own gain.
Minerva possessed the tyrant's crown when it was first obtained, but ended up trading it to Qiliq in exchange for a political marriage and a leadership position among the forces he intended to raise. She went on to conduct numerous atrocities in their conquest of a new 'kingdom'. Her player was aware that the lifespan difference between Qiliq and Minerva meant that the crown would pass back into her possession again within a few short decades, and she was fine with being patient.
Zerrus: tiefling warlock masquerading as a human sorcerer. A con artist, grifter, and criminal from Alamgir's lower classes, he misrepresented himself to acquire a spot on Qiliq's expedition and the opportunity to gain wealth, power, and most importantly, a way out of the country. During the course of the campaign, he somehow managed to keep his secrets. Zerrus liquidated his share of the expedition's treasure, purchased a townhome in the city of Aphursa (a bustling, Istanbul-style metropolis), and went on to invent the world's first multi-level marketing scheme.
Auden: human fighter, archaeologist from the kingdom of Talland. Marooned in the wasteland by the deaths of his prior party, Auden gratefully took the chance to join a new group after meeting them at a frontier outpost. Upon the conclusion of their adventure, Auden returned to his homeland and university, where he published numerous research papers on his findings. He became a highly sought subject matter expert on the wasteland; published tales of his adventures raised him to something of a minor celebrity and enabled him to found a profitable consulting service for other expeditions.
Aupo: orc, orthodox cleric from Alamgir's anti-magic Tathir religion. He signed up mostly to remove heretical and blasphemous artifacts from existence. His enthusiasm for the task often generated tension with the rest of the party, particularly when his hammer fell upon expensive relics. The crown never revealed its true nature to Aupo, and the rest of the party concealed the truth from him, knowing he would attempt to destroy it. He signed up with Qiliq's mercenary force, becoming a fanatical missionary in new lands.
Herwyg: human druid, archaeologist from the kingdom of Talland. Upon return to his homeland, he liquidated many of the mundane treasures but kept all the interesting pieces for his own collection. His research papers and artifact loans to museum exhibitions won him tenure and academic awards, as well as recognition from the royal government for his service to the kingdom's cultural prestige.

My new theories for the movie Frozen 3/4
Tumblr media
Well, I got a new idea about what will happen with Elsa in Frozen 3/4. Power. Power is a double-edged sword. Elsa was always afraid of her powers, but she learned how to control them. The troll had always belittled Elsa's power and that she was too big for this world. The troll always warned of Elsa's power and that she would grow more and more with her. We all know that her strength will grow with her as she gets older. Jennifer Lee gave us a hint that the events of the two films will be about Elsa's growing strength. What came to my mind is that magic power can seduce its owner. Maybe Elsa's magic will capture her heart and desires. Elsa's kindness will turn into greed. Perhaps power will lead her to greed to obtain greater power. Perhaps Elsa will lose control of herself, that is, directing her power for good. It means she will get greedy. The more money a person has, the more he becomes greedy to get more and may take devious paths. The more the magician acquires magical powers, the more greed takes over his heart to obtain greater power. Perhaps the new struggle will be against greed and avarice, which may infect Elsa's heart and turn her into evil, perhaps. Perhaps here the four spirits will stand against her. Perhaps Atahalan will rob Elsa of her power as punishment for her heart being tainted by greed and covetousness. Perhaps the motive of greed and greed that tainted Elsa's heart was noble in the beginning. Because in the beginnings the intention is always noble and sincere, but it takes a wrong turn. Perhaps Elsa wanted to do something by gaining additional power to protect the forest and the kingdom, but she fell into the forbidden, her heart was tainted, and she became a real threat to the entire world. Here the souls come together with one word, which is to reject what Elsa is doing, and thus her power may be taken away. The same thing happened to the previous owner of the Fifth Soul, greed and avarice tainted his heart, and Atahalan sentenced him to deprivation of power and ostracism. Perhaps many years passed before the new host of the fifth spirit appeared, which was Elsa. Perhaps the power of the Fifth Spirit is a double-edged sword like snow that has its own beauty and danger. This is what will happen to Elsa. She will fall victim to the negatives of the fifth spirit. Perhaps here Hans played a role in the events, as he was also greedy to obtain influence and power. Perhaps he learned a lesson from what happened to him previously, and perhaps he played a role in restoring Elsa’s confidence with her sister Anna. This is one of my predictions for what will happen in Frozen 3/4

A Hat in Time Version Analysis Part 1
So, this was an idea that basically haunted me since I recalled that I never updated the version of A Hat in Time on my PS4 that I acquired around December 2018. Considering that it got never updated, it is the console version that came before Gears for Breakfast updated the base game to match the version that made it to the switch in 2019 (That I also own as it was before I got Steam to run on my then potato PC) If you were to download the game now, you'd just get that version instead of the old one I have.
I thought that I would be fun to compare the two versions and find out the differences. I'm sure that I'll likely miss details and some chapters like Mafia Town for example. The layout of some maps and the size doesn't make it easy to spot differences, especially if you try to play the same game simultaneously by switching between the versions a lot. Nevertheless, I tried my best to spot a few key differences and am proud to show off the first installment of this series.
Miscellaneous things and Hat Kid's Spaceship
Of course we're going to kick it off with the title...which is the same in both versions, so nothing to report there. However the very next screen or lack there off in the PS4 version caught my eye
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As you can see here, the early console version didn't have a proper file select screen yet, so all you'll see are the plain files with no Hat Kid just idling about.
The cut scene that happens where Hat Kid falls out of bed and you gain control is much the same, so nothing there, but something will catch your eye as soon as you open the pause menu
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The menu UI is much more simple sporting black outlines instead of the more vibrant purple used in the current version. The hat menu is the same black.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the menu out of the way, I went to explore the the spaceship a bit and found that most things are the same, expect for the multiplayer control panel thing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mafia Town Act 1
The scene with the Mafia Goon breaking the glass and Hat Kid's subsequent fall to the planet is the same an so is most of the intro to the game. I followed Mu and her route was the same as in the PC version, her dialogue too. The only change that I found was that when you obtain the the hourglass that completes this level, the icon doesn't spin, it was very hard to get a good picture of that. XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm going to end it here due to the limit of pictures I can put in a tumblr post. The next installment has a couple of oddities I found for Chapter 2-4 of Mafia Town.
If there's something in particular, you'd like me to try out in the versions, please leave a comment. I'm slowly making my way throught the whole base game, so I'll appreciate it, if the questions for this would be about Mafia Town as I won't get to Subcon or Dead Bird all that quickly.

How Mineta (and y'know the others) got into the hero course (and other Entrance Exam thoughts)
So there's this pseudo-joke/"plothole" people in the MHA fandom talk about (seriously or not) concerning how some 1-A and 1-B students got into the hero course. I'll try to answer that here. (Because that joke annoys me to no end /lh).
First of all, what's the entrance exam like?
We're not gonna be talking about the theoretical exams or whatever the fuck, just the practical exam, aka the robots. That happens in chapter 3, which damn that was long ago, and is explained my favorite idiot, Present Mic. See :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The exam is 10 minutes long, it happens in a large fake cityscape. There's 3 types of robots that give more or less points when defeated and one robot that gives no points when defeated and "rampages when it's crowded". Students are allowed to bring whatever they want with them, but it's unclear if they can bring equipment unrelated to their quirks. I'd assume no, because otherwise Shinsou or Midoriya could have brought something to help them (but perhaps they weren't aware of this option - though All Might would have probably told Midoriya) :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On top of points gained by destroying robots, there are "rescue points" that can be acquired by saving people : as much as 60 points can be obtained for saving one person (see Midoriya saving Uraraka) even if the robot destroyed doesn't give any points.
Tumblr media
Now, with the students.
I'll start with Mineta because he's the one I'm using in my title. Mineta, IMO, is more than capable of succeeding at the entrance exam. For one, his quirk is very useful in it : he can just drop sticky balls near robots, or throw a bunch near articulations, and the robots when break as they try to keep moving. He doesn't even need skill to do that, beyond aiming eventually. Additionally, Horikoshi apparently provided an explanation as to how Mineta could pass the exam (binding the robots to walls or blocking their cannons with his quirk) somewhere in volume 2.
Finally, as much as I know most people in the fandom dislike Mineta, he is canonically an okay student, skills wise. He's cowardly and is distracted too easily and often, and that's his biggest problems. According to the Ultra Archive Book, he has a B in Technique and an A in Intelligence, and in the Ultra Analysis Book, an A in Technique and an A+ in Wits. He very much could have passed the entrance exam, and he very much did, and it's not hard to figure out why.
Now onto the less easily explainable character : Hagakure Tooru. This one, I understand where the confusion comes from. At first sight, her quirk isn't offensive at all, and just makes her invisible, which is as useful for fighting robots as Brainwashing is.
Currently, Hagakure can reflect light well enough to manipulate things like Aoyama's laser, which is definitely offensive, but at the start of the manga she cannot do it : she learns this during her work studies, and refines it throughout the story : what she can do at the time of the entrance exam is refract light. My theory is that she would blind the robots with light, either making them malfunction and break just with that (either because their cameras break or because they like run into walls or something), or taking advantage of their blindness to attack them with a weapon. She could have also taken advantage of her invisibility to sneak up on the robots (somehow). Additionally, she could absolutely have gotten rescue points by saving other students.
Most other members of 1-A aren't really mentioned when talking about "how did X get through the entrance exam" as most of them have offensive quirks. If I have to guess who could have had trouble with the exam, Kouda is the first one that comes to mind - he would have had to summon birds, probably, as other animals likely weren't there due to y'know, the setting being artificial and contained, and he wouldn't be able to use insects as he's still scared of them at this point. I think it's likely he got rescue points too, as his quirk can serve as a distraction, which would allow him to help others escape certain situations.
For 1-B, I suppose most people don't question them because most people don't really... care about 1-B, which is fair given their screen time. However, I'll look into the students to see which ones would potentially have trouble with their entrance exam.
Shihai Kuroiro's quirk, Black, allows him to merge with anything that's dark, whether caused by circumstance (shadows) or naturally dark in color. At the time of the exam, this does not come with any offensive qualities (later he can move things he's merged with as long as they can move naturally). The entrance exam being set in a cityscape with tall skyscrapers implies that There Are Going To Be Shadows, like. Obviously, which definitely helps. Moreover, I'd assume the robots have at least some parts of them that are dark. Kuroiro can "half-merge" for lack of better words :
Tumblr media
So I imagine he could merge into the robots, fuck around with whatever's available (either by punching whatever's there or by ripping out cables or parts) and boom, robot destroyed, points gained.
The only other student that could have struggled is Monoma, because he most likely didn't know the people around him nor their quirks, which must have slowed him down a bit, especially given the fact that if his body can't handle the quirk he copies, he could get hurt. However, Monoma is both smart enough to figure others quirks out, smart enough to have brought a weapon or taken a metal scrap or something if he was struggling with quirks, and enough of a dick (<3) to have no qualms about hitting someone behind the head to get their quirk if needed, so he's fine.
That's it for this part. It still makes me so annoyed to see people being like "how did Mineta get into UA" "how did Hagakure pass the entrance exam" because like. Please put down your opinion of the characters for ONE SECOND and think with your brain for a minute. Mineta is a pervert and a coward but he is canonically smart (when no girls are around) and canonically is skilled using his quirk. Obviously he passed the entrance exam.
And generally, obviously most characters passed the entrance exam, because they have good quirks (for the most part) and are trying to be heroes - our main cast (again, putting aside fanon interpretation or canon but unintended characters being shitty) is made of characters who want to help people, or grow to want to help and save and protect others : most of them are going to get at least some rescue points.
Most of the characters whose points we can see are actually pretty balanced, ie: 39 villain/35 rescue for Kirishima, 36V/32R for Ibara... the characters with more villain points tend to have more offensive quirks, like Tetsutetsu with 49V against 10R, etc. Not every character is Midoriya (who struggled with his new quirk and needed his heroic instinct to flare up, 0V/60R), Bakugou (who is notoriously too focused on beating villains up and winning at the start of the story, 77V/0R), Iida (who was too focused on the instructions that were given and didn't act naturally, 52V/9R)... So most characters are going to get a more even score, where characters with offensive quirks will probably be more focused on destroying robots and helped a bit by rescuing, and characters with more defensive quirks will be carried by rescue points.
Tumblr media
Finally, to end on my favorite guy Shinsou Hitoshi; he failed the exam for a good reason. No one "stole his place", he messed up; it's not entirely his fault, because I do believe the entrance exam is way too in favor of people with offensive quirks, but he still is partly at fault.
His problem at the start of the story is that he relies way too much on his quirk, which is very powerful but requires many conditions being met to be activated. He isn't trained enough physically - during the Sports Festival, he basically has Midoriya's body type before he started training with All Might, aka, noodle arms. He's very smart and has no problem using other people to get what he wants, but that just didn't work during the entrance exam, because he can't attack other students (and brainwashing them to do the work for him works in no universe in this situation).
I wholeheartedly believe he would have been able to enter UA's hero course if he was more trained physically and more skilled technically (after all, Aizawa has to have passed the entrance exam somehow, and I doubt he actually got in through the sports festival, because otherwise it would be mentioned, by Shinsou, Aizawa or anyone comparing the two). Moreover, he may have gotten rescue points, but either didn't get enough to pass without any villain points like Midoriya, or didn't get enough because he was too focused on his own success to help others, similar to Iida.
Anyways, mic drop, whatever, it's honestly too late to be still writing this. I hope this was useful to literally anyone.

Chapter: AXL Development Documents, Peatan
Like I've promised, today we're gonna talk about Peatan!
If you wish to see the full, neatly condenced profile right away, you can go to their page on my toyhou.se!
So,
Peatan is a blue nurse cyber-elf who used to be in Resistance's possesion. This happy playful fellow grew tired of living in the special cyber-elf containers, eventually conduring a plan of their own to escape the clutches of this organisation once and for all. Despite of low chances, their scheme was a success as they got brought to Neo Arcadia by Axl along with the Keeper Amulet they were hiding in. However, upon learning of the sacrificial nature of cyber-elves and Peatan's personal wish of exchanging their life to heal the wounds of someone else, their newly found repliroid friend chose to keep the blue nurse inside of the amulet so they won't self-sacrifice at the first opportunity. Luckily, Axl wasn't so harsh on Peatan, letting them out to view the places he was taking the cyber-elf to. The more time Peatan spent with Axl, the more they learnt about the material realm and complex feelings their inhabitors could experience. This allowed the blue nurse to mature as a person and acquire earthly attachments that were so alien to the digital beings who are the cyber-elves...
How do you distinguish Peatan from hundreds of other blue nurses? Well, you would only need to take a look at the cross on their hat! They also gain puffy white shorts underneath the dress upon evolving but that trait is a little more common than the black (deep blue) cross.
Tumblr media
You may also say that Peatan has a skirt in the base form which nurses usually don't get until their first evolution, but after seeing this little drawing from a soundrack booklet (I think it was Mythos), I couldn't resist giving them to base forms too which does mean that all nurses in my continuity are not naked when they are babies *chuckle*.
Tumblr media
Also did you know that Peatan is an elf you can obtain in the original Rockman Zero 2? They're in Kuwagust Ancatus' stage, after the optional Thunder Golem midboss, stuck in a container. However, when found in Chapter: AXL (since it's meant to have Zero's campaign as well, it just hasn't changed much so we didn't describe it), Peatan would fly away and Zero would receive a different blue nurse after the level if he speaks to one of the soldiers. If Zero has already beaten Crystal Cave stage and didn't get the elf prior, the cyber-elf container would be missing and he would still need to talk to a soldier.
And now it's time for development notes:
I thought our protagonist would need a companion on this journey who could lighten the mood and contrast with a more serious and grimmer version of Axl. The idea of an incredibly cheerful nurse cyber-elf that he would keep around to show what the material realm has to offer came pretty quickly and naturally after that. But why was it an elf that could originally be found in Z2? Well, it was kinda a placeholder but I was able to make the character work in the context of this story pretty easily so I saw no need to change them. In addition, Peatan had a slightly different backstory in the very first draft of Chapter 1, being a cyber-elf that saw one of their own kind sacrifice themselves. This inspired the elf to take their name, and dreaming of accomplishing the same goal one day, hoping to become just as cool and brave at the original Peatan before. Not only it was "a bit" messed up, but it also ended up not working with the timeline. The latter problem could have actually been patched, but I decided not to go through with it. Peatan is an embodinment of child-like innocence (at least in Ch1) and giving them a backstory like that could've been too much. Also I should mention that the idea for a talking ball of light companion was inspired by Sein - the guiding light from Ori and the Blind Forest which I happened to finish prior to conceptualizing Chapter: AXL. Sadly, Peatan wasn't much of a combantant by the end *chuckle*.
Tumblr media
And (this isn't in the profile on toyhou.se because it would've made it too long), maybe some of you are also wondering why does Peatan have a lisp in Chapter 1 and not in Chapter 2? Well, if that wasn't obvious yet, they were a little child in Ch1 and they grew during the 2 month timeskip between it and Ch2 which is why they managed to get rid of the lisp. But why was it there in the first place? Well, I just thought it would convey their childness more and that it would be cute *grin*.
Although I've told you about most things that were already written down in the toyhou.se profile, you can still check it out!
Stay Tuned! ~
