"To live is to die, to die is to be reborn."
Pascal rejecting his father's wishes has dire consequences, it seems. But upon his death comes a second chance.
Inspired by IIya Repin's "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan on 16 November 1581"

MHA Chapter 393 spoilers translations (no images)
Apparently Horikoshi got a little too horny this week and his art tripped the boob-alert censors, so here’s an image-free transcript of the chapter 393 rough translations.
To view the image version that has been marked by the mature filter, click here.
PAGE 1
1 そういやトガちゃんって souiya Toga-chan tte Come to think of it, Toga-chan,

(Note: This is actually a pun on the word “chiu” which is what Toga says as an onomatopoeia for sucking blood. It sounds like “suck” and “smooch.” Twice has squeezed in the kanji for “blood” for the pun.)
(Note: Same pun as the previous line.)
13 や ya “NO.”

“Don’t say that, ‘Dabi.’” Context. “You don’t get to say that, ‘Cremation.’” (Note: The implication is that Dabi’s villain name is pretty uninspired or boring.)

Screaming crying throwing up pls tell me more about the new gossip girl ocs
I've gone all in with the mafia obsession.
Abram is the future Pakhan and he is actually a massive asshole. He uses his sister running away as an excuse to move to new york but he doesn't go get her right away even though he could, instead he decides to play a little. Make her think she got away, that she's safe, but the moment she starts to feel too comfortable, he will show up- just for a moment to ruin everything.
He's a cat who plays with their prey.
Iiya and Ivan are the muscle. Their jobs are usually to rough people up or take them out entirely. Both are hiding huge secrets, secrets that are at a huge threat of coming to light in new york, but they can't say no to Abram.
Darya Is part of the reason Abram is so eager to go to new york also. She is the daughter of the current Pekhan's right hand man and Abram had decided she is his future queen. Trick is, she can't be manipulated into falling for him, so he has to work for it.
Blaise is actually Alicia's sister (making her Luca's aunt) and she is on of the secrets. She has a young son, named Hayes and she is a bartender. She's awesome and is living her best life until her son's father shows up in person- something they agreed he wouldn't do.

You bringing up Max talking to Jos at dinner reminded me of IIya Bryzgalov (hockey player) going, why you have to be mad?! (Please watch the video it’s great) His accent sends me and something I can imagine Max also saying lol He’s just very chill outside of racing
OMG THE SCRATCHY VOICE 😂😂
I was not expecting that wow
Yeah for sure I can kind of imagine Max finally catching up on the drama at dinner and being like “why you have to talk?”
(Fic readers you KNOW Emilia has said this 😭)

Abare Shoujo - Amai Bouryoku (English translation)
Artist: Amai Bouryoku
Composer: Yoshi
Lyrics: Saki
——————————————————
Life is short, I’m a violent girl
(I’m going on a rampage, I’m a violent girl,
Violent, malicious…
I’m going on a rampage, I’m a violent girl,
Violent, malicious…)
It’s too troublesome to think about all this stuff
It’s all so annoying, don’t worry about me
I’m going wild today, I don’t know anything anymore—!
If I just quit thinking, I’ll be invincible
How nice to meet you,
I’m going on a rampage for today…
5 4 3 2 1
Going absolutely insane as the flower blooms wildly
Tonight, I’m going crazy— how far can I go?
I fell in love and lost it, I can’t take it anymore
So just for today, everyone who fights with girl power, say bye-bye!
A dark character begins to blossom as the flower blooms wildly
Let’s go crazy— how far can we go?
Since you’re gonna die anyway, just live however the hell you want
Life is short, I’m a violent girl!
As of recent, time seems to be going by way too fast
And I’m only a leftover
My mental age, I’m an eternal girl
I’m a girl who’s always and forever rushing in, so just don’t get in my way
I live in my very own untouchable world
I’d like another refill, please
Still on an unstoppable rampage…
5 4 3 2 1
Lewdly disturbing all peace as the flower blooms wildly
It fleetingly scatters, it’s just so beautiful!
If only those rattling, annoying bastards would just go ahead and disappear
You’re too troublesome, so say bye-bye!
The dark character remains unrivaled as the flower blooms wildly
Don’t underestimate us normal people!
I’ll live so that I’ll surely get to smile in the end—
Shining brightly, I’m a violent girl!
Come on, come on!
Come on
Come on now, look, face forwards!
Life is short (HA HA HA HA!)
I’m a violent girl! (URAURAURAURA)
As it remains unbroken (NYAN NYAN IIYA HOI!!!)
Start headbanging, GO CRAZY!!!
5 4 come on come on COME ON
Going absolutely insane as the flower blooms wildly
Tonight, I’m going crazy— how far can I go?
I fell in love and lost it, I can’t take it anymore
So just for today, everyone who fights with girl power, say bye-bye!
A dark character begins to blossom as the flower blooms wildly
Let’s go crazy— how far can we go?
Since you’re gonna die anyway, just live however the hell you want
Life is short, I’m a violent girl!!!

Meet the Creators - Iiya
What username(s) and platform(s) can folx find you on? (Please include links!)
@iiyasbssmdoodles
I go by the IIya with two ‘I’ s because I have to be as confusing as possible in all things. Can find on Twitter too!
(Fun Fact) What is your favorite kind of potato?
Now that is a tough one - how dare 🤣 I think in my heart I know it has to be mashed
How long have you been creating works in fandom spaces? How long have you been active in the SM fandom?
About 15 years
What type(s) of creative works do you usually make? (fanfics, digital art, cosplay)
I do art!
What do you enjoy about creating for the SM fandom?
Sailor Moon really is my ride or die franchise. Is it weird to say that I like that most of the fellow fans are also older?? We got taxes to worry about, them young kids can worry about drama and stuff
Are you strictly UsaMamo or do you create for other pairings as well?
I am a mutlishipper and I’ll draw about anyone
What inspires you to create works for Usagi and Mamoru?
How sweet they are together and how they get to grow over the story. Most franchises the couple doesn’t get together till the very end! We get these two through most of the story ! They are goofs!! Sweet dorky goofs would want to support each other despite not always knowing the best way how at the moment.
Do you tend to work on multiple projects (WIPs) simultaneously or try to finish one at a time?
Uhhhh I kinda bounce but prefer one at a time
Do you prefer large projects (chaptered fics, webtoons/zines, highly detailed art) or small projects (one-shots or simple art)?
I wish I had time for chaptered comics!!! There are so many amazing fans that do that I admire the ground they walk on. Mostly just stand alone pictures and doodles
Are there any common themes, situations, tropes, or mediums in your work?
Comedy and romance. I’m not a angst girl
Is there anything you haven’t explored artistically and would like to try?
Multi page comics! I’m just so bad with story and feel I get all the characters wrong 🤣 it would cool to do more collabs with fic writers

How to use やっぱり ( = yappari ) (Mini Lesson) – Maggie Sensei
Expressions, JLPT N2, Mini Lesson from No.124
How to use やっぱり ( = yappari ) (Mini Lesson)
December 14, 2010 23 Comments
Tumblr media
= Maggie Sensei no atama no naka wo sukyan shite mitara…
= We “scanned” Maggie’s brain and…
Today’s word is 「やっぱり! 」=「Yappari! 」
It is a colloquial way of saying やはり = yahari and it means “I thought so!”  or  “I knew it! “
If something happens as we suspected, we say “やっぱり” (=Yappari)!
1) We say it when we hear something that we had expected we’d hear or are unsurprised to hear.
Ex.
=Maggie wa kare ga sukinan datte.
=I heard Maggie liked him.
= Yappari! /Yappari ne!
= I knew it!
***
Ex.
= Yappari hannin wa kare dattannda.
= I knew he was the criminal.
***
Ex.
= Yappari omotta toorida.
= I knew it. / That’s exactly what I thought.
***
Ex.
= Yappari soudatta no?
= I knew it!(It’s a rhetorical question in Japanese but actually means you expected something.)
***
Ex.
= Yappari Maggie wa konakatta ne.
= As we expected, Maggie didn’t come, huh?
2) When you assure your opinion or simply emphasize your opinion, really, indeed
Ex.
= Yappari kare wa kakkoiiyone.
= He is really cool! (Just as I had thought.)
Ex. (female talk)
= Yappari anata ja nakucha dame!
= It has to be you. (Just as I have been thinking.)
Ex.
= Yappari nihongo wo benkyou suru nara Maggie Sensei no saito dayone.
= If you want to study Japanese, it has to be Maggie Sensei’s site! (As I have thought.)
3) When you change your mind, on second thought
Ex.
= Nee, sutaba ni ikanai?  Yappari yameta! Ashita shiken ga aru kara benkyou shinaito.
= Hey, you wanna go to Starbucks? On second though, I won’t go. I have exams tomorrow so I have to study.
And if you change your mind again,
Ex.
= Yappari iku!! Shiken nante doudemo iiya.
= I change my mind. I AM going! I don’t care about exams.
Note :
やはり = yahari
Tumblr media
There is even more casual form of やっぱり=yappari
Tumblr media
Ex. ( = Yappari souka! ) = I knew it.
Tumblr media
Ex. I knew it. I thought so.
= Yappane.
Ex.
= Yappari natsu wa biiru dayone!
=  There is nothing better than beer in the summer.
Tumblr media
=Yappa natsu wa biiru ssho! (very colloquial)
So can you read what in my brain?
*遊 = yuu /  遊ぶ = asobu = to play
*食 = shoku / 食べる=taberu = to eat
*休 = kyuu / 休む= yasumu  =  to get rest
*秘 = hi = 秘密 = himitsu = secret
Maggie Sensei yori = From Maggie Sensei
= Watashi no himitsu shiritai?
= Do you want to know my 秘密 = himitsu = secret?? ***
Will you be my Patron?
I appreciate your support!
This rules. I'm gonna learn Japanese and go to Nihon. I hope this site is a good resource for me!!!!!!

Entonces...
...Haa? Kijima alza el interior de sus cejas. ¿No la has convocado tú?
No...
A decir verdad...
¡Si no llegas, tapón!
¡¿QUÉ HAS DICHO?!
No…
¡No!
¡TE VOY A MATAR SUBNORMAL!
¿A ti te gusta?
… El mayor la coge y se la mira. Momotsuji Security…
No suena… Nada mal.

Indika Review - Rewarding Faith - Game Informer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Indika is bizarre, surprising, and captivating. It made me question its reality almost as often as its titular protagonist, a young nun tormented by the Devil, doubts her faith. This odd adventure from its aptly named developer Odd Meter may lack some design polish, but the fascinating tale at its core instilled enough faith in me to see it through to the end.
The game unfolds in early 19th-century Russia. Indika is treated as an outcast at her monastery, and, for some reason, she’s regularly taunted by the voice of Satan himself. The story doesn’t delve into how this sacrilegious relationship began, and that’s fine. The Devil is more of a storytelling device; a symbol of Indika’s desire to be a good person, contrasted by her growing skepticism and pragmatism in the church’s rigid viewpoints on morality and sin. This conflict comes to a head when Indika finds herself in an unlikely partnership with Ilya, an escaped prisoner with his own strong religious beliefs.
[embedded content]
As the pair bond over seeking a divine cure for their respective ailments – Indika’s demonic presence and IIya’s wounded arm – the third-person adventure sees them trek through locations such as deserted factories and frozen wilds. Along the way, players solve environmental puzzles and, on very rare occasions, evade threats. The obstacles themselves are respectably designed and varied, often centered on Indika inexplicably operating heavy machinery like a lift to move and stack giant cans or manipulating the massive gears of an industrial elevator. Less enjoyable moments, such as fleeing a pursuing wolf in an annoying trial-and-error escape sequence, appear rarely, thankfully.
The gameplay becomes most interesting when the Devil’s influence overwhelms Indika to the point the world around her turns hellish red, and the environment is ripped apart into a distorted version of itself. This leads to relatively simple but thematically interesting navigation puzzles as players switch between this hellscape and reality by hitting a “pray” button to find the proper path. These are neat segments that I wish occurred more often than the small handful of times they do.
Poking around environments leads to hidden collectibles, from religious artifacts to “indecent” publications, that reward points, which manifest as literal giant pixelated gems that appear in front of Indika. This bizarre visual flourish is a wild contrast to the otherwise realistic art direction, and these points level up Indika via a two-pronged skill tree of point modifiers (themed on ideas like Shame, Guilt, and Repentance) that impact the story less literally than it appears.
This is just an example of Indika’s strangeness. Overt video game-y elements such as quirky, chiptune melodies and flashbacks that unfold as playable 16-bit platforming sequences are sprinkled throughout the experience. Whether or not this approach has any thematic significance is unclear (perhaps symbolizing the comparative simplicity of Indika’s childhood), but, at the very least, it gives Indika a surreal and playful charm.
Everything in the game, from the strange people you meet to the weird camera angles to its wild intro cutscene I won’t spoil, gives the game a potent dose of absurdity that oddly works. Indika feels like a black comedy at points, and perhaps that’s the intent. It swings for the fences, and that delightful boldness is combined with poignant commentary about the struggle of maintaining unwavering faith in a harsh, unjust world. Indika’s engaging and, at times, emotional personal journey of self-discovery pulled me to a powerful conclusion that, like most everything else, leaves its interpretation up to the player.
The result is an adventure that feels thoughtfully conceived, humorous, and depressing all at once, as well as “off” in the right ways. Indika is one of the year’s most affecting and memorable adventures, and its themes will stick with me as I continue to ponder their meanings.

No me interesa...

"Bug" Appreciation Post
Tumblr media
Of all the songs I’ve presented in this series, this one certainly doesn’t need an introduction. Having reached 26 mln views on YouTube, Bug is certainly one of if not the most popular Project Sekai commissioned song. And rightfully so - the song is a bop, being very fast-paced and using a lot of repeated words to enhance the rhythm. Very mesmerizing, because the song is about being mesmerized. And, more or less, about waking up from the trance, coming to the realization that something’s… not exactly right.
Of course, the song was commissioned by Project Sekai, so it’s obviously a character-centered song. If I remember correctly, in my post about Suspended Animation, I said that you can’t really decipher Bug’s meaning without being aware of Mafuyu’s struggles as a character. And this is true to some extent. For me, the song is mostly about being controlled and you don’t really have to know who is controlling who, but this certainly makes some things clear. The one controlled - the system, if you will - is Mafuyu, who’s been constantly manipulated by her mother and has lost her identity as a result. Mafumom is, in this case, the administrator - the owner of the system. She pulls the strings. Some translations suggest that her name should be written as "administraitor", pointing towards her negative influence. And although it’s not up to me to decide whether Mafumom is a good person or not, she clearly made Mafuyu what she is now. The bug in the title is Mafuyu’s friends, the Niigo group. They are making the system glitch - in a way, they introduce changes to Mafuyu. While from a technological standpoint, bugs aren’t a good thing, in this case, Niigo clearly helps Mafuyu, but also makes her doubt. While I believe that these changes will make her feel better as a person, in that moment she experiences very conflicting emotions - the "paranoia" that’s repeated throughout the whole song. With its constant repetition, it slowly merges with Japanese "iiya", meaning "no more", "I can’t". Because, having enough of the pain, Mafuyu begs for mercy.
Mm. Catchy.
What I like the most in this song is the raw pain it manages to convey. In many of my playlists, Bug serves as a "transformation song". And it’s not a cutesy Magical Girl transformation you’d expect from me saying this, it’s raw. You know, these very monstrous transformations you saw in 12+ movies as a kid despite the rating itself kinda contradicting their presence at all? That’s what I’m talking about. It’s true that with any change, there will be pain, but the state of mind Bug presents is so messed-up it makes you shiver. My favorite moment is the drop after the last "iiya". The lyrical eye - Mafuyu - has experienced so much pain that she can’t withstand anything more than that. And after the last yell, full of agony, the music suddenly stops. A brief moment of silence is followed by the same melody from the start, then the whole song cuts completely.
I often imagine that, at that moment, she’s looking you straight in the eyes, the insanity peeking through. Almost as if she’s completely lost her mind.
Now isn’t that a banger.

hi there! I just wanted to ask a question since I've been getting into song translation recently and I respect your translations a lot. take this more as a curiosity than anything :)
I notice how many different translators have their own "style" of translation, so i wanted to ask, what's your opinion in creative liberties in translations? I know obviously when dealing with something like Evillious where the little details matter you'd probably want to be as accurate to the source material as possible, but like, sometimes being literal can make something even less clear even when not dealing with idioms (something I feel like I remember you talking about before) and there are also plenty of songs that aren't as story heavy and are more about meaning. so I was just wondering if you have any thoughts on like, your philosophy with how much translators should stray in the name of keeping the same meaning/intent rather than the literal translation?
like, i was working on a translation where I write the line "また言いたいことを殺す" as "I'm holding my tongue again", because I feel like given the context of the song that conveys the same meaning as "I'm killing what I want to say again" in a more concise way, even though there are probably more direct ways to say "I'm holding my tongue" in Japanese. It does lose some of the nuance (言いたいことを殺す definitely sounds more visceral) but the actual meaning and intent conveyed (the singer has given up on saying something she wants to) is more immediately registered to an English speaker, and I've been wondering to myself how I should weigh those two.
Hazuki no Yume's translation of Iiya/118 is another translation that takes a lot of these types of creative liberties to convey intent I feel like. I honestly really enjoy their translation of that song, it's one of my favorites, but I get that some might prefer a more direct translation that only changes things when completely necessary. Personally I know there is a limit for me because I dislike when people add unnecessary extra words that were never present either in the actual text or through context just to add flavor, but I'm not the best at judging these things.
Obviously I know every translator is different, and I'm the type to make a ton of translator notes anyways so I'll probably include the more literal meaning in there regardless. I was just curious about your own thoughts and I thought it'd make an interesting question :)
My thought on that is…it's really a case by case basis. There's no right answer (though there's certainly a wrong answer, that being "I just made something up because I don't care about the original work"), because ultimately translation is a frankenstein craft that requires as much creative writing skills as it does language knowledge. It varies by work, and it varies by person. So, I can share my opinion, and how I personally do things, but as long as no one is outright misrepresenting another's work, either intentionally or through lack of skill, I try not to quibble too much.
Personally, I trend more towards the literal. There's two different attitudes that I think people go into translations with--to make something as appealing a creative work in English, or to just report what the Japanese means for others to understand. I see myself as doing the second one. I'll take liberties sometimes, especially when translating novels, but these are done mostly to keep the reading experience from being obtrusive or distracting. If I were an official translator, I think I would be more comfortable with doing more "localization" type things (like changing character titles, using more colorful language, for example), but because everything I'm doing is unofficial, without permission, I've thought of my role as a translator to be more like a language patch than someone making an "English version" of the works I translate.
There's also the fact that I often enjoy the way the Japanese text phrases things, so I like to share it with other people. And, my cultural knowledge can be a little lacking at times, so there are instances where I'm not confident I understand the sensibilities behind it enough to make a "localization" without misconstruing the words.
So, to discuss your example, I would not choose to change the wording that way. However, I can't call you wrong for doing so because every translator has their own view of what makes an accurate translation of tone and intent, and what you've done preserves the meaning with that in mind. I'm reminded of a (possibly apocryphal) anecdote about Japanese author Natsume Souseki, who supposedly encouraged an English student to translate "I love you" as the phrase "The moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?", because he felt a direct translation into Japanese was not in line with Meiji cultural norms (where open declarations of affection are pretty much unheard of). This is not something I would have ever come up with, nor would I do so myself, but he also had a perfectly valid point that the phrase would not at all have the same tone and intention in Japanese that it did in English.
To try and put my stance in brief--cultural translation is definitely a valid approach, but because I am working unofficially, and because I often enjoy the way things are phrased in the original work, I personally prefer not to do it unless I feel it will cause a significant amount of confusion/disruption for the reader otherwise (such as in the case of idioms, metaphors, common phrases that aren't common in English, etc).
There's a song called Slow Motion that has a popular translation by wingarea. I do not like this translation, not because I think it's bad (it's a perfectly fine translation), but because I would have chosen to stick more closely to the original wording choices. Meanwhile, there's a translation of Delusion Girl by damesukekun that I think snips out a lot of the evocative tone of the song in how bluntly it's translated. So--again. Case by case.

[meet the prisoners!] prisoner 007: yano asahi
Tumblr media
just so you know most of the time i have no idea what to do with my ocs' hands.
so, we already know which prisoner is the oldest one, but what about the youngest one? well, here he is! (fun fact: he was actually supposed to be even younger at first)
this boy.. tbh i'm not so sure about his verdict as well, like at the same time THIS IS A CHILD AND HE PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE HERE but also.. he's not really the most sympathetic prisoner here.
General info:
Name: Yano Asahi (谷野旭冴) (his last name means "valley" and "field" and his first name means "rising sun" and "clarity")
Age: 11 y/o
Gender: Male
Status: Prisoner 007
Birthday: May 15 (Taurus)
Height: 145 cm
Blood type: O
Image color: #DBFFC1
Occupation: Elementary school student (sixth year)
Personality: Asahi appears to be a sweet child when you first meet him, however, his true personality is not like that at all. He's very rude, he swears more often than all the older prisoners, he says mean things without thinking and whenever someone tells him that it's wrong to act like that, he just lies on the floor and cries or says that he's just a child, so it's okay if he makes mistakes like that. He takes full advantage of his age and even makes other prisoners do all kinds of things for him, because "he's a child, so he's too weak to do it himself". It's obvious that he was very spoiled by his parents: he asked for a different prisoner uniform because he didn't like this one, he's the one who requests more stuff than all the other prisoners and if something doesn't go his way, he starts crying and says that he will tell his mom about it. But even though he is almost never seen smiling or laughing, he's actually.. very calm when it comes to his crime? He never mentions it and when the guards ask him about it, he simply goes "Huh? What crime?". At first the guards thought that he's just pretending or maybe he's so cruel that he doesn't care about his crime.. But for some reason, it also feels like he actually doesn't know what crime he committed. Or maybe he does know, he just.. doesn't want to think about it.
MV info:
Which canon Milgram song he would cover: Half. YES. THE YOUNGEST PRISONER HERE WOULD SING HALF. It fits his backstory well not counting the whole cheating on your wife part and for some reason I actually can imagine him singing it and it would sound good with the voice I imagine him to have. Maybe his cover would be like a cuter and softer (but still very emotional) version of the original song?
Which DECO*27 song he would cover: Iiya. The lyrics actually sound a lot like Asahi and I can definitely imagine him singing it for. Reasons that I can't talk about yet.
If he could cover a song by a different Vocaloid producer, which one would it be: All I Need Are Things I Like by Pinocchio-P.
His MV description: .. his MV would have a goth aesthetic actually. It would mostly have gray and black colors, but some important objects would be the same color as Asahi's image color.
His MV starts with Asahi sitting in his room, looking bored and watching the clock tick. He gets annoyed and walks to the door, but something stops him from leaving the room. He starts walking around the room and it looks like he's thinking deeply about something. He looks at all his toys (and he has.. a lot of them) and.. suddenly starts crying while hugging one of them? It does look sad and makes you feel bad for him, but the lyrics are actually about him feeling like "this is not enough, he deserves more" and him asking someone to "give him everything he wants, because he's their only joy in life and he should be treated as one". He looks at a particular plushie he has, the one that looks like a strawberry and for some reason he finally decides to leave the room.
We see Asahi in his room again and now he's actually playing with his toys, though he still looks bored. The lyrics mention that he's still "not satisfied" and "he won't stop until he gets what he wants". He looks at some books he has in his room and decides to read one of them just because he has nothing else to do and it looks like he actually finds it interesting. It gives him inspiration to do something and he gets so excited that he starts writing something in his notebook while lying on his bed, still surrounded by his toys. If you look closer, you can see that he's writing something called "A list of weaknesses". When he's done, he starts laughing and it looks like he is not exactly sane right now. The POV suddenly changes and it looks like we're opening the door to Asahi's room and see what he's doing. Asahi pretends like everything is fine and just smiles at us.
We still see everything from that person's POV and now it looks like that person is having dinner with Asahi. There's no one else around and the whole scene just gives off that feeling of loneliness. The person stops eating to tell Asahi something and he still looks annoyed, but he listens anyway. But then, everything becomes blurry, even though we can still see that now Asahi is smiling and that person's food was actually the same color as Asahi's image color. That person falls on the floor and now Asahi looks like he is actually scared for them and he even tries to help them get up, but everything goes dark before he is able to do anything.
The POV changes and we're opening a door again and we can see Asahi lying in a puddle of something that looks like a bright green liquid. We walk closer to him and try to wake him up and when he does, he looks at us with a confused face expression and the lyrics say "Hey, can you remind me, what did I even want?"
Trailer 1 Voicelines:
"Huh? Why do you even want to know my name? If you're soooo smart, then you probably know it already, don't you?" *SLAP* "OW! What the fuck are you- Fine, fine! My name is Yano Asahi, I'm an elementary school student and all.. But you knew that, didn't you? Look at me, I'm literally a child! Now let me go home or I'll tell my mom about what you've done to me!"
"Hey.. Come on, you know I deserve it. It's not that expensive. JUST BUY THE DAMN THING ALREADY, THAT'S ALL I'M ASKING! WHAT, ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY THAT I DON'T DESERVE IT? Oh.. maybe you just hate me? You hate me, right?"
Trivia:
Murder is his only crime and he had only one victim.
Of course, he believes that he will get an innocent verdict and it's just not possible for him to be voted guilty.
He spends most of his free time eating something or playing with the toys he requested.
Some prisoners have mentioned that they heard Asahi talking to someone in the middle of the night, but when they checked, it was just him sitting in his cell and talking to himself. They heard him talk about the other prisoners, Milgram and this whole situation. When it was morning and they asked Asahi about it, he denied everything and he looked genuinely confused.
He's not close with any prisoners and he especially hates Akio even though they're very similar.
Naomi is a little scared of him because of him being almost the same age as her students (though a little bit older) and she tries to avoid him when she can. However, Asahi himself doesn't think she's that bad and other prisoners even say that he sees her as a mother figure.
Even though he's not friends with anyone here, he still refers to all other prisoners by "Nii-san" and "Nee-san", basically treating them as his older brothers and sisters. And about the guards.. he really doesn't like Eiji, so he refuses to call him that, but he eventually warmed up to Miki and started calling her his big sister as well. (Edit: that was changed and he's actually calling everyone "(Name)-nii" and "(Name)-nee" now. I just thought that it sounds more like him)
Other prisoners didn't want him to spend time with Kei, because they were afraid that Kei will be a "bad influence". To everyone's shock (even Kei's), Asahi understood.. uh, everything that comes out of Kei's mouth perfectly and when they asked where he got this knowledge, he just said that "he's young, but he's not stupid".

Tumblr media
Teo-Linh
Pros:
Is genuinely sweet and kind. Teo will do absolutely anything he can to help you achieve your goals or be happy and comfortable.
Will tell you stories. The stories may be about himself, about his family, or about his home, but he will happily share them as he is very invested in his own interpretation of oral tradition and wants pass on the lives and memories of others in that way. And to do that he must exchange his stories for the stories of others.
Will go on adventures. As Teo is largely nomadic, he's happy to drop whatever it is that he is doing and follow you off on a great adventure. Or even drag you off on one if you were otherwise not inclined.
Loves plants and is likely to gift you potted herbs and flowers.
Loves all animals, but particularly snakes (this may be a con if you are afraid of snakes), and is likely to collect to occasional snake companion.
Poetic and passionate. While Teo doesn't actually write poetry, nearly everything he says comes has a poetic lilt to it and is filled with passion. If he cares about you, you'll know. In the most flowery way he can manage.
Cons:
Too curious for his own good. Teo cannot resist the urge to seek out mysterious items, search out lost cities, or try to complete stories many thought were long since lost. This is likely to get the both of you in a fair bit of trouble.
Void-Touched. Thanks to the curiosity mentioned above, Teo played host to a certain Voidsent for a time. The time she spent sharing his body left him heavily skewed towards darkness. Where his magicks were once of light and water they now skew toward darkness, decay, and the void.
Still has an active pact with said Voidsent that is physically represented by a tattoo that runs from his fingers to his elbows on his right arm, depicting a dead tree with a mask cradled in it's branches. This pact means he often jets off to meet her at the drop of a hat.
Teo is nomadic and therefor sometimes difficult to find. He is also likely to vanish for weeks on end only to show back up later seemingly completely unaware of how long he was gone.
Absolutely will not realize that you are flirting. Teo will assume that flirting is just someone being nice and that no one could possibly have any interest in him. If you want him to notice it and accept it, you'll have to be very blunt. Subtlety will not get you anywhere.
Will not make the first move. If you're looking for someone who will actively pursue you, Teo may not be the best choice as he's both passive and easily distracted. You'll need to initiate everything... and I mean everything. (This may not be a con if you are the more proactive sort.
Path Rating: Moderate
Teo's path is likely a frustrating one. It is easy to fall in love with the wonderful man who seems to breathe poetry and stories. No one would fault you for thinking that, maybe, just maybe, that is how he flirts. But the longer you wait for things to progress past flowery speech and intimate discussions of life and magic, the more annoyed you become. He will not make a move. He won't hold your hand, brush his leg against yours, look into your eyes longingly. Nothing. He's emotionally open and physically distant.
When you finally have had enough and take it upon yourself to make your move, Teo is wide-eyed, blushy, and extremely shocked. Not because he fails to return your feelings, but because he could not fathom that someone as wonderful as you could possibly have any interest in him.
Once that little bit of insecurity is sorted out, he's devoted, attentive, and physically affectionate. Though, he still seems to require you to take the initiative in progressing the relationship forward in the physical sense.
He also drags you into his adventures. He takes you exploring ruins, climbing giant trees and mountains, and eventually takes you back to his home.
Teo's path is fairly linear and there aren't many ways to drag him off of it until some form of obscure magic or power is introduced. Teo's insatiable thirst for knowledge cannot be matched and the Viis simply does not believe in "bad magick" or "dark magick". All magicks are good when held in the right hands and the right hands are, obviously, his. While it is clear that he wants to use any acquired knowledge and power to help people, it may not always stay that way. It would not be particularly difficult to leverage a relationship with Teo to drag him a long a much darker path, to get him to commit crimes and atrocities in your name. Because that is what you needed of him.
With that said, the turning point is whether or not you choose to temper his hubris or lean into it. Tempering it might be difficult, but with a close enough connection he is inclined to listen and act with more... discretion. Though, it does take time to get him there. Leaning into his hubris is, on the other hand, exceedingly easy. He is already prone to assuming that he is in the right when it comes to use of knowledge and power and it would be very easy to play that up and drag him down a much darker path. His curiosity would shift more towards ravenous consumption. He'd become ruthless and yet still passionate and poetic. A beautiful monster. All for you.
Your choice.

Liyaya Liya
Pros:
Extremely polite and respectful of boundaries.
Loves books and owns a very large collection that you are more than welcome to borrow from. (Though, sometimes it seems as if she loves books more than people. So this might be a con.)
Has a fast-paced life. She's always doing something. Whether it is overseeing the offices at Aetherflow Investigations, restoring an ancient tome, or chartering a team of adventurers to take her into a ruin, her life is never boring.
Well organized. Everything is put away in the proper place and planned out well in advance. She leaves nothing to chance. You'll never wonder if your calendar has been updated.
Extremely romantic. Almost in a storybook sort of way. Not that this comes across immediately, but she does have a preference for some well-known cliches. Moonlit walks on the beach, stargazing, being serenaded at sunset... those sorts of things. And she will take the initiative to make them happen for her partner as well.
Extremely well-off financially and becoming more and more so by the day. While she was not trained to run her father's merchant empire, she did learn a lot from simply being around. And even though she sold the business out of spite when she inherited it, she took what she learned and put it to good use in her own endeavors.
Cons:
Very caught up in her work. As said above, there is always something for her to be doing across her many business ventures. So much, in fact, that she will likely find it rather hard to make time for those romantic dates she loves so much.
While romantic, Liya is also overly practical. The idea of romance is wonderful and she loves it very much, but does she really have time for it? Might it be better for her to simply write about her romantic desires in her secret romance novels rather than try to pursue it in her day to day life?
Liya is a pacifist. While this may be a pro to many people, it is generally a con to those in the adventuring community. While she does not seek to impose her views on this topic on other people (and, in fact, employees a lot of rather violent people), she is difficult to adventure with as she won't take any action to aid in violence. She is a decent astrologian, though.
Can be bossy. Liya has become very accustomed to being the boss. What she says goes and she doesn't have a solid grasp of when to leave that workplace attitude behind.
Path Rating: Moderate
Liya's path likely isn't particularly difficult. She might be a bit dodgy at first, as trying to get her to stop working long enough to spend time with you might be difficult, but once you've made it clear that you want her attentions she'll pencil you into her schedule and she's not likely to break a date.
Her path doesn't seem like a particularly exciting one unless you find relic acquisition and restoration exciting. But it is one where you get to peel back all of the layers of Liya and find out who she really is rather than who she presents in any given situation. And I am certain it could be very fun to pull back all of the layers to reveal the sappy romance novelist underneath the rigid business woman.
As Liya is asexual, this relationship could be one of two things. It could be a very sappy romantic relationship with no sexual elements aside from the ones she writes in her books. Or, it could also be a very intense QPR. Which, honestly, I really like the sound of for her!
Either way, I feel like this path is very wholesome and cozy. If you're looking for adventure and drama, Liya isn't for you, but if you want something sweet this path is perfect.

Kishar Sepelire
(WARNING: DANGEROUS PATH! Proceed with caution!)
Pros:
Exceedingly confident. To the point where she looks like a predator.
Fierce. The fangs, claws, and horns certainly contribute to this, but it's also there in the way she moves and speaks. You might wonder if she is, perhaps, considering how best to devour you.
Cunning. She can likely find her way into or out of any situation. Though, I very much doubt you will enjoy her methods.
If you like danger then Kishar is for you. Otherwise... maybe run?
I'm sorry. She just doesn't have many pros in this context.
Cons:
Is a voidsent bound to a crystal that was then embedded in the corpse of a Miqo'te woman. She is, in some interpretations, a zombie.
Smells of decay, rotting leaves, and the overwhelming scent of medicinal herbs.
Is a voidsent. Her diet is aether. And given that she's not possessing a living body, she can't eat in any sort of traditional sense, meaning that everyone and everything is a potential snack.
She has a one track mind. Revenge. She might prefer to call it justice, but that is not entirely accurate. She is in pain and she wants to make the people who harmed her feel exactly that pain.
Is arrogant to the point of believing that everyone is beneath her. Including you.
Really heed the above warning. It's soooo not worth it.
Path Rating: Easy (Deadly)
It is exceedingly easy to get Kishar's attentions. If you flirt with her, she will absolutely flirt back. If you make a move, she will reciprocate in kind. It's very likely that you could fall in bed with her after only a few lines of witty banter and they might not even need to be particularly good lines.
However...
There is not good ending for this path. You cannot, at any point, drag Kishar off of her current path and towards something more healthy or productive. She is dead set on getting the one thing that she wants and everyone around her is either useful or in the way. Which, seeing as she is a voidsent amounts to about the same thing. If you're useful you might have information she needs and she'll likely use sex to get it. Hit it and quit it. You might live. Maybe. If you're lucky. If the information you had wasn't to her liking or it turns out you didn't have any, you'll meet the same end as people that are in her way. You're still useful... as food. But seeing as she likes to play with her food there might be some fun in it for you first. Or maybe just her. There is no way to truly tell until you're in the thick of it.
Would you take the risk?
In truth this character is not particularly likable and she's not really supposed to be. And while it is possible to make an ally of her (if not quite a friend) you can't approach it from the romantic perspective as she tends to see people that make those sorts of overtures as well... food.
Basically... don't flirt with the aro/ace void zombie. It won't go well. I mean, unless Morinth in Mass Effect was your thing.
