Staying healthy encompasses a holistic approach that involves nurturing both the body and mind. While individual needs may vary, there are several key practices that can help promote overall health and well-being. Here's a guide to the best way to stay healthy:
Balanced Diet: Fueling your body with nutritious foods is fundamental to good health. Aim for a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Limit processed foods, sugars, and excessive salt intake. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Regular Exercise: Physical activity is essential for maintaining a healthy weight, strengthening muscles and bones, and reducing the risk of chronic diseases. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity exercise per week, along with muscle-strengthening activities on two or more days per week.
Adequate Sleep: Quality sleep is crucial for overall health and well-being. Aim for 7-9 hours of sleep per night and establish a consistent sleep schedule. Create a relaxing bedtime routine and optimize your sleep environment for comfort and tranquility.
Stress Management: Chronic stress can take a toll on both physical and mental health. Practice stress management techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, yoga, or tai chi to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. Engage in activities that bring joy and fulfillment to your life.
Regular Medical Check-ups: Routine medical check-ups and screenings are essential for early detection and prevention of health conditions. Schedule regular visits with your healthcare provider for preventive care, vaccinations, and screenings based on your age, gender, and medical history.
Hygiene and Sanitation: Practicing good hygiene habits, such as regular handwashing, dental care, and personal grooming, helps prevent the spread of infectious diseases and maintains overall health. Keep your living and workspaces clean and sanitized to minimize exposure to germs and contaminants.
Mental Health Maintenance: Prioritize your mental health by seeking support when needed and engaging in activities that promote emotional well-being. Practice mindfulness, relaxation techniques, and self-care activities to manage stress and maintain a positive outlook.
Social Connections: Cultivate meaningful relationships with friends, family, and community members to foster social support and connection. Stay connected through regular communication, social activities, and shared experiences.
Avoid Harmful Substances: Limit or avoid the use of tobacco, alcohol, and recreational drugs, as they can have detrimental effects on health and increase the risk of chronic diseases and addiction.
Lifelong Learning and Growth: Engage in lifelong learning and personal growth activities to stimulate your mind and expand your horizons. Pursue hobbies, interests, and educational pursuits that bring fulfillment and contribute to your overall well-being.
By incorporating these practices into your lifestyle, you can take proactive steps towards achieving and maintaining optimal health and vitality throughout your life. Remember that small changes can have a significant impact over time, so prioritize consistency and commitment to your health goals.

I think I can trace my intense hatred for the whole "regulations are just corporate bullshit, building codes are just The Man's way of keeping you down, we should return to pre-industrial barter and trade systems" nonsense back to when I first started doing electrical work at one of the largest hospitals in the country.
I have had to learn so much about all the special conditions in the National Electric Code for healthcare systems. All the systems that keep hospitals running, all the redundancies and backups that make sure one disaster or outage won't take out the hospital's life support, all the rules about different spaces within the hospital and the different standards that apply to each of them. And a lot of it is ridiculously over-engineered and overly redundant, but all of it is in the service of saving even one life from being lost to some wacky series of coincidences that could have been prevented with that redundancy.
I've done significantly less work in food production plants and the like, but I know they have similar standards to make sure the plants aren't going to explode or to make sure a careless maintenance tech isn't accidentally dropping screws into jars of baby food or whatever. And research labs have them to make sure some idiot doesn't leave a wrench inside a transformer and wreck a multi-million dollar machine when they try to switch it on.
Living in the self-sufficient commune is all fun and games until someone needs a kidney transplant and suddenly wants a clean, reliable hospital with doctors that are subject to some kind of overseeing body, is my point.
#i know i've complained about this a hundred times before. AND I'LL DO IT A HUNDRED MORE#just. god. apply ANY critical thinking of whether your self-sufficient society can scale up to a population of 300 million#and that's just for the us!

Including niche examples
1H
Yourself, your persona. You as an individual. Your role models (projection of your ideal self)
2H
Business partners, business collaborators, acting/modelling/any agency you are under. Podcasters you listen to, literal social media influencers, salesman, your self esteem mentors, your real estate agent, your savings coach, your bank, your stockbroker
2H includes people who influence how you earn money. 2H represents people who can influence your personal values and your self esteem E.g a Ben Shapiro to a politically curious individual, the kardashians to a teenage girl. 2nd house can also represent people involved in the maintenance, acquisition and management of your possessions and finances
3H
Your siblings, your neighbours, your relatives like extended family, peers and acquaintances like the people in your class you know of but donât talk to enough to say theyâre your friend, peers, acquaintances, colleagues/coworkers, professors, educational teachers, speaking coach, language teacher
3H is related to intellectual pursuits, learning, just all forms of intellectual development, mercury sits well here. Itâs about the people who you interact with daily as they influence your way of communication The individuals here would influence your communication style, interests and knowledge
4H
Your mother (mother figure if you donât have a mother), your parents but particularly your mother figure, the collective of your whole family, ancestors, caregivers, people that live in your house like your flatmates, your housemates, housekeepers, butlers
4H represents the physical home, the mother, familial connections, nurturers etc. so the people here would be the ones living in it and those who have influence in your domestic life
5H
Your children, your inner child, you as a parent, your nieces, your nephews, romantic partners (short term), artistic partners E.g co-writers, collaborators, people involved in your projects, your students, your mentees, your investors, your hook up partners, people who you gamble or just play games with.
5H represents children, creativity, your mentoring to others, gambling, fun, joyful light love affairs, itâs also ruled by Leo. So we have these people involved with these themes
6H
Coworkers, colleagues, employees, staff (individuals who work under you or provide a service to you), your doctor, your contractors, your nurses, your teammates, your healthcare providers, your therapist, your career coach, your internship mentor, your assistants, your service providers, your pets, your gym colleagues, your fitness instructor, your nutritionist, your organiser, your HR department, your vet

alike to 3H in education but 9H rules higher education so itâs an octave higher than 3H in terms of the teachers associated with it. 9H also represents justice and law so it would include people that work in this field that you encounter
10H
Your father, your boss, your mentor, your manager, people of authority, your parents (father in particular), influential figures you look up to, e.g your fave celebrities, government, politicians, your PR team, your publishers, you as a role model, your admirers like the people who look up to you, influencers, your business, icons
10H association with self-image and reputation and classic Saturn authority would include those who are involved in those themes
11H
Friends, peers. Social activists, humanitarians, philanthropists, inventors, forecasters, visionaries, leaders, community organisers, trendsetters
different from 3H in the sense that with 11H friends, you actually share the same goals and interests in mind whereas with 3H itâs mostly an exchange of communication about these parts of yourself and they are less as significant in your social life compared to 11H type of friends
12H
Spiritual beings, your religion, spiritual forces, your subconscious mind, artists, creative people, writers, hospital patients, prisoners, monks, religious people, volunteers, dreamers, charities.
12H represents those that can derive what is within their inner secluded world and bring it into reality. Itâs associated with empathy, mental/spiritual state, seclusion and the bed. The people here would be those that would retreat, help others and tap into realms beyond the physical)

BREAKING: Former Marine Senator Ruben Gallego publicly humiliates MAGA Homeland Security Secretary Krist Noem for posing with weapons on "Instagram" with ICE agents â and destroys her for requesting a $50 million jet.
"Fascist Barbie" went up against a real soldier and got her hat handed to her...
"The Department is overspending right now, it's on track to run out of money again by mid-July to support a mass deportation campaign that can't be afforded," Gallego said to Noem during a hearing.
"At the same time though, you recently requested a $50 million allotment for a private Gulfstream jet," he went on. "That's $50 million of taxpayer money to subsidize some of your national tours that you've been going on."
"Meanwhile Republicans are about to kick another 13 million people off Medicaid to fund taxes for the rich on the backs of working class Americans," he continued. "So how can you justify spending $50 million on a jet while your Department is definitely overspending and Republicans in Congress are about to strip off healthcare from millions of Americans."
"Well senator thank you for the question," replied Noem. "We are spending our dollars appropriately and will be on budget. With reference to the airframe, that was the requested dollars were put in for, that's for the Coast Guard."
"Uh, it's to replace an existing jet that is over twenty years old and is beyond its usable hours and the Coast Guard for many, many years has been neglected and has many airframes that have been grounded because they can't even be maintained anymore," she rambled on. "The suppliers, that give us parts and repairs and maintenance for them, have said that they'll no longer support that kind of a mission."
"We have cutters that haven't been completed, that haven't been deployed out across the world, and then we also beyond that, uh, are asking for a request to build out the number of Coast Guard members that we need in place," she said. "We're asking for fifteen thousandâ"
"Are you going to have access to that $50 million Gulfstream jet that the Coast Guard is going to supply?" interjected Gallego.
"The Coast Guard will use that jet exactly how it uses the jets that it has today, exactly in the same manner that it uses the ones it has in place today," she said.
"Would you consistently be using it to travel?" pressed Gallego.
"I don't know if I would use that one or if I would use the other one. I have no idea," said Noem. "But I do spend time out there with our components, making sure, uh, that they are, um, know that they have a Secretary that's engaged with them, that's visiting with them, seeing what their needs are."
"We've seen the Instagram photos," interjected Gallego.
"No sir, they're not photos. They've meant the world to the individuals at the Department of Homeland Security," insisted Noem.
"I've seen some of them especially some really bad weapons handling," said Gallego.
The senator nailed it. Noem spends much of her time posing for photos with weapons and tactical gear in support of Donald Trump's incredibly cruel mass deportation program. She seems far more interested in how she looks holding a gun than in serving the needs of the American people.
This isn't the first time that Gallego has criticized her for her incompetent firearm fetishization either. In April, her ripped into her on X for sharing a photo of herself posing with a gun during an ICE raid.
"1. Close your ejection port," Gallego wrote, referring to a rifle component.
"2. If you have no rounds in the chamber why do you have a magazine inserted?" he continued.
"3. If you have rounds in the chamber or in the magazine why are you flagging the guy next to you?" the senator continued, referring to the fact that Noem was recklessly aiming her gun at a law enforcement officerâs head.
"4. Stop deporting people without due process," he added.
The brutal takedown from Gallego was in response to a video that Noem posted to X showcasing her outfit during the aforementioned raid.
"Human traffickers. Drug Smugglers. 18thStreet Gang members," Noem wrote, conveniently eliding the fact that the Trump administration has also been deporting innocent people, including a father from Maryland.
"Spent the morning in Phoenix with our brave @ICEgov and Arizona law enforcement arresting these dirtbags and getting them off our streets," she added.
This woman is a bad joke told at the expense of the American people. She's wasting our tax dollars for personal pleasure while inflicting mass suffering on marginalized people. The sooner she's out of government, the better. Another uneducated, cosplaying whore who got her job and keeps that job by holding her mouth open for deposits: Bitch...!

#fuck homeland security#fuck ice#fuck kristi noem#fuck trump#maga morons#fuck maga#maga cult#traitor trump#republican assholes#republican cheats#trump is an idiot and so are his voters#fuck the gop#inbred

The Fat Protestor
by @sparklejams and @jordallenhall
For everyone showing up to protest the US government funding of a genocide -- be loud, be safe. Your body is a force. If you are able, use it.
Police identify people by body type/clothing. Be aware (as if you could possibly forget) that you don't have the privilege of blending into the crowd.
Be aware that fatmisic police protocol and infrastructure can endanger your life during arrest.
Let this inform the risk that you take.
If you get arrested: raise hell about being cuffed with your hands in front of your body.
Mid-fat, super-fat, and infinifat people are especially at risk of positional asphyxia when cuffed with their arms behind them. Be especially vocal about any stress position where your knees are raised (sitting on a low police van bench, for instance).
Police typically don't listen to folks when concern is expressed over being cuffed in the back -- be loud. Verse yourself and your community in de-arresting practice. These risks are not commonly known, though are present not only for fat people, but also those with asthma and other breathing difficulties.
Make sure the people you are with are informed of these risks before protesting.
Direct action is sweaty. Prepare against crease rashes (yep - it's a normal self care maintenance thing if you have skin rolls/folds. It's normal. It's common. It's nothing to be ashamed about.) by drying with paper towels, using antiperspirant or cornstarch under your breasts/belly. When you get home, shower and treat with a wound cleanser (shoutout bactine spray) or a tea tree oil balm or soap as needed.
Our fat bodies are magnificent contributions at protests. Our fat bodies take more effort to move - think of all the wonderful ways we can use this to our advantage at a protest or direct action. We can block pathways and hold precious land with our fat bodies. We can shield and protect precious people with our fat bodies.
Bring:
⢠Change of socks. If you get caught in the rain or doused with water, or even if you sweat through your socks - walking around in wet socks will cause bad blistering.
⢠Light first aid/bandaids
⢠Water, snacks, meds
⢠A physical copy of your emergency contact in case of arrest
Try to go with other fat people. Comrades in normative bodies may not always consider your body and what is safe for you - so make sure you loudly advocate for yourself and your needs within whatever group you are with.
Stay cool. Take breaks. Sit or stop when you need to. Try to be hyper-mindful of getting overheated.
In case of hospitalization:
⢠Make a packet containing all medical info, advance directives, and emergency contacts. Put it in a clear sleeve with a humanizing photo of you with loved ones at the front.
â˘Â Learn more about how to make a Connection Kit and humanize yourself to healthcare workers in the Know Your Rights Guide on nobodyisdisposable.org
Remember that there is so much to do beyond the front lines.
⢠Provide jail support (wait to greet released protesters with water, snacks, hugs, and rides home).
⢠Provide your home as a central prep and recovery space before/after.
⢠Stay near the action and offer your car as a mobile phone charging station.
⢠Provide childcare.
⢠Drop off supplies.
Honor your body as a resource for civil disobedience. Center your needs.

I just saw Luigiâs reply to Jules in full, and I have so many feels.
The way he describes his back problem - âbroken spine,â âyour physical being split in twoâ - I always knew it was serious, but I think this is the first time itâs hitting me how viscerally painful it must have been to endure something so horrible in your 20s. How depressing it must have been to face the possibility of being permanently disabled at an age when your peers are at their sprightliest, full lives ahead of them.
I sincerely hope the past tense he uses means his back is okay now. I read up on his condition when I found out who he was, and it seems like thereâs a chance he might need maintenance surgery at some point in his life. I hope to God he walks free because I do not trust anyone in the prison healthcare system to treat him the way he deserves. He talked about how terrified he was before his surgery under a professional he presumably researched and paid big bucks for. Imagine how terrifying it would be to be operated upon by someone holding you captive, with absolutely no penalty for maiming you permanently. To undergo major surgery with no support, no loved ones at your side. Still being treated like a monster at your weakest, most vulnerable.
Iâm also thinking about him saying that nothing external can phase him. Itâs kind of sad that heâs been through so much trauma that the barbaric shit theyâve been doing to him doesnât bother him. I feel like weâve all seen so many happy smiling photos of him, only accounts by loved ones praising him for being supportive, always trying to cheer people up, that itâs not immediately obvious how much horrible stuff he has gone through at only 27.
I also feel so bad for his mother. In that French article they say the FBI called her before they found him. Imagine being a mother with a son missing for months and then you receive a call saying, âhello maâam, this is the FBI.â Her heart mustâve dropped, assumed the worst. Then they just questioned her further, she must have been relieved. Only for her world to fall apart completely days later. Her youngest lost to her forever in a completely different way.
I am praying that heâs eventually compensated for the horrors heâs had to face so far. This bright soul rotting away behinds bars till his life ends is something I refuse to accept. Sometimes it really seems like there is not an ounce of justice in the world.
(Sorry for my English, itâs not my first language)
anon, you've said this so beautifully đĽş

âDid you see that Facebook post about the budget cuts?â my co-worker asks. âWhat the fuck, no,â I reply. She hands me her phone. I see a headline announcing that, due to the push to slash basic services coming from Elon Musk and Donald Trump, 20% of our funding for local public transportation is now threatened. Lawyers are fighting it out in the courts, but if these cuts go through, it will mean less service, possible layoffs, and lots of people not having access to a system that is one of the few lifelines for poor people in our area. People depend on these buses to get to their jobs, to medical appointments, to programs for special needs adults, to court dates.
I sit back down, staring out the window at the cold, grey parking lot. I am waiting for a member of the morning shift to come in with a bus so I can take it out. A few buses dot the bus yard. Theyâre sitting idle because the parts on order havenât come in for monthsâeven years, in some casesâand because the city refuses to hire enough mechanics to keep up with daily maintenance. This means that drivers on night shift, like me, sometimes have to wait hours for a bus to arrive. Our transit agency, which contracts out to a huge multi-national corporation, is already dramatically underfunded. The new cuts will only compound our existing problems.
âFucking Musk, man,â I say with a sigh. Another co-worker on the night shift agrees with me. Heâs in his mid-70s, but heâs still working full time because he recently burned through all his savings burying his parents. I launch into a long rant about how both Musk and Trump hate labor unions and workers and want to replace us all with artificial intelligence. A third co-worker, presumably a Trump supporter, grumbles about how âtheyâ just want to blame the cuts threatening our jobs on the âadministration.â

Itâs pitch-dark when I enter the trailer park, passing a metal gate, I drive slowly through the ever-growing rows of manufactured homes. Some of them have signs reading âFor sale.â
âLots of people moving out?â I ask my only passenger.
âYeah, no one can afford to live here anymore,â she replies. As I turn the corner, she launches into a long tirade about the corporation who owns the trailer park and how they keep raising the cost of âspace rent,â the monthly fee that mobile home owners pay to trailer park owners. âEvery year the rent here goes up. New people move in from out of town and they can pay more, and thatâs pushing us out,â she says, as I unhook her walker inside the cold, dark bus cab. âI donât know why the landlords are so greedy. Do they just want everything?â I lower her and her walker down onto the pavement outside her trailer.
As the electronic ramp whirls its gears, I turn to my left. In her front window, there is a strange collage of images of Donald Trump. It is faded and worn from the sun. I shake my head and chuckle, resisting the temptation to point out the obvious. How can you complain about a corporate landlord ruining your life, but place all of your hopes in another landlord who is trying to become a dictator?
Perhaps she senses my disdain. âTrump is gonna fix it, youâll see. Prices are going to go down once he starts drilling.â
My eyes narrow. âBiden was drilling more oil than any president before him,â I reply.

I meet all sorts of people like this at my job. One guy smells like piss so bad while I strap in his wheelchair that I have to turn my head so I donât gag. The car in front of the house where I pick him up has a bumper sticker on it reading, âI Donât Trust the Liberal Media.â I wonder if the conservative media is telling him his healthcare is about to be nuked from orbit.
Another guy, as I load and unload his wheelchair, takes out his Trump hat, puts it on, and asks me what I think of it. I tell him Trump and Musk want to use the military to shoot protesters, destroy unions, and fire workers like me, so why would I give a fuck about them. He looks away, says, âAlright then,â and jets off on his electronic scooter. I wonder if he is looking forward to ICE deporting half of his neighbors.
On election day, I lost it and got into a heated back and forth with a pro-Trump guy. He rested his case by proclaiming that we need to make it easier on rich people so that the wealth will trickle down to the rest of us. I want to grab these people and shake them.
Trump represents the triumph of the nihilism of our age. The foreclosure of the idea that the working-class can take and shape its own destiny. Instead, apparently, we should throw ourselves at the mercy of a reality TV star who shits in a gold toilet, eats breakfast with billionaire pedophiles, and has dinner with neo-Nazis between rounds of golf. In the absence of the kind of social movements that could connect people and enable them to grow and change, Trump has built a mass parasocial spectacle that makes these isolated people feel like they are part of something greater than themselves even as all of our lives become smaller and smaller, more and more impoverished and alienated.

I shuffle into the union hall, past the placards reading âON STRIKEâ and faded signs several decades old. Almost fifteen years ago, during Occupy, I attended a meeting in this same room. I wonder whatâs changed since then. I find a seat and one of our union shop stewards slides a packet across the table to me. I open it up and start paging through it, looking at the spreadsheets and graphs.
We start to discuss the ins and outs of the proposed contract that our elected union representatives and corporate lawyers have been going over during recent meetings. One of the much-hated top corporate bosses was recently fired for corruption, much to the delight of the entire workforce. As one of my co-workers said, âReally tells you a lot about a place when motherfuckers are walking around singing, âDing-dong, the witch is dead!â and morale has never been higher!â
We go through the contract. Despite a few small improvements, things are mostly the same. âWhat about the pay?â I ask, fingers crossed. The shop steward cocks her head to the side and turns a page, pointing with her pen to a graph showing a dollar increase. She explains that the contract will be for five years, during which time weâll only be getting a few cents more each year. âThis is literally what I was making ten years ago,â I sigh, âand this contract will be valid for five years?â
I already canât save money. Imagine what things will be like in five years.
She shrugs. âWeâre encouraging you to vote âYes,ââ she says, and hands me a piece of paper on which to mark an âXâ signifying yes or no.
If enough workers vote the contract through, the company will ratify it and it will govern my life for the next five yearsâpresuming that I donât get downsized. Any strike or protest activity will be illegal, as per our âNo Strikeâ agreement. If enough people vote no, it goes back to the union bargaining team, and they will continue to bargain for more changes in closed door meetings.
I head into another room, mark an X by âNO,â and drop the piece of paper into a wooden box. I wave to a few co-workers on my way out. As I leave, I pass a portrait of Sean OâBrien, the president of the Teamsters union. You smug bastard, I say to myself. I remember his glasses and bald head on stage of the Republican National Convention last year, when he called Donald Trump a âTough son of a bitch.â What a dipshit.
I used to have a poster in my room many years ago, proclaiming, âThe past doesnât pass.â Next to the slogan was a photo of striking Teamster bus driversâbus drivers, just like meâbeating police officers with baseball bats during the general strike of 1934 in Minneapolis. That was one of the decisive labor battles that forced the ruling class to accept the New Deal in order to cool down the class war that was brewing on the streets.

At home, I look over a letter announcing that people in my neighborhood shouldnât drink the tap water because the levels of uranium in the river are too high. Sometimes I wonder what I would say to my children about this moment in historyâif I could afford to have children. Probably the same things my parents say to me now: theyâre sorry we are inheriting this world. Sorry they didnât fix it. Sorry they didnât build strong enough movements to turn the tide against these monsters.
At work, as I drive, I begin to notice that there are fewer Trump flags and signs out. Resentment is rising. A joke by a cashier here about being replaced by AI, a comment there about Trump cutting programs. I walk into the break room and someone is shaking their head angrily while watching a video of Musk on their phone. They mutter something about tariffs and rising prices.
The tension in the air is palpable. It is similar to how things felt at the start of the economic crisis in 2008, when many of the homes in my neighborhood were foreclosed on and many people lost their jobs. It also reminds me of the start of the pandemicâhow at first, I thought it wouldnât be so bad, only to watch in horror as our family members and friends succumbed to the virus.
In 2008, many people thought that crowds would flood the streets immediately when the administration bailed out the banks while leaving the rest of us high and dry. That didnât happen. It took years for resistance to grow. In Chicago, workers occupied their factory when they were terminated without pay. In Wisconsin, workers occupied the capitol building against government attacks on collective bargaining. In California, students occupied universities to protest budget cuts. The Occupy movement began in the fall of 2011 and rapidly built to massive occupations of city squares across the US, coordinated port shut downs, and a general strike in Oakland, California. With Joe Biden as vice president, the federal government helped to coordinate violent raids targeting the movement in order to break it apart.
In 2020, on the other hand, things didnât festerâthey exploded like a bomb. Millions of people across the country mobilized in response to the pandemic, providing mutual aid in the face of government inaction and right-wing disinformation, and then hit the streets in the George Floyd uprising.
Who knows how things will evolve this time. It will probably be different from both of those scenarios, but it could be similar in some ways. What is clear is that things are not as people expected them to be. Many people on the left thoughtâor at least hopedâthat Trump would govern the way he did the first time, constrained by mass protest, the courts, and his own party. Many who voted for him honestly did not expect him to follow through on many of the policies he explicitly promised to carry out. Those who were not paying attention are surprised that suddenly, jobs are disappearing and services are being cut while prices only continue to rise.
The material conditions are forcing people to reckon with the fact that the state is attempting to reshape our lives for the sake of an authoritarian project. As we speak, thousands of people are flooding town halls across the United States, screaming at their so-called representatives about the plan to gut programs like Medicaidâonly to hear the bureaucrats repeat a slew of MAGA talking points. Anger is brewing. Hopefully the MAGA strategy of âflooding the zoneâ with shit will produce diminishing returns as people turn towards their neighbors and co-workers and away from their phones and YouTube.
This is an opportunity for us to call out the authoritarian project of the Trump administration, the techno-dystopian fantasies of billionaires like Musk, and the complicity of the Democrats who helped make all of this possible. Beyond naming the systems that we are up against, we also need to be clear about our position as workers and how the billionaires running the country want both to hurt us and to weaponize our anger, turning us against each other through propaganda and fearmongering. This is why itâs important to stand in solidarity with everyone attacked by the Trump administration, whether trans folks, migrants, prisoners, or beyond. We canât leave anyone behind. The only immigrant trying to steal my job is Elon Musk. Itâs time to be clear that our interests are not theirs; we must develop and promote our own vision of a better world in total opposition to the ruling class, the billionaires, and their fascist puppets.
Moreover, itâs time for action. We need to give expression to these antagonisms while revealing the poverty of the institutional forms currently at our disposalâthe Democratic party, the ever-shrinking union bureaucracy, the non-profits. We can show examples of past struggles and resistance from the mass wildcat strikes by teachers in West Virginia and the fierce anti-fascist mobilizations against the alt-right to the airport shutdowns following the Muslim Ban. We can support and expand the existing fronts that are already breaking out around us: protests against Musk outside of Tesla, rallies to demand that hospitals continue to treat trans people, community defense and rapid response networks to address ICE attacks, bashing back against the violence of the far right. We can demonstrate the utility of tactics and strategies that others can take up and expand on as all of us figure out how to fight in the new reality.
Itâs hard to look at the news without imagining tanks on the streets or scenes out of V for Vendetta. But the scenario I worry about most is that this will simply become the new normal. That we will accept this just as we accepted the last round of attacks. As we accepted the genocide in Gaza. As we accepted the ecological gun to our heads that is climate change.
While people are angry and energized, we have a chance to push in a new direction. Letâs use this moment to foster broad and popular networks of resistance that improve our lives, strengthen our communities, and enable us to meet our needs directly. At this point, we donât have much of a choice.
Like it or not, this is life nowâand it is coming for all of us.

âOne Beautiful Billâ Would Be a Tragic Setback for Indian Country
Guest Opinion. The name âOne Beautiful Billâ might sound harmless, charming, even, but for Indian Country, its passage would be nothing short of a policy earthquake. Behind the rhetoric of fiscal responsibility and government streamlining lies a sweeping assault on the foundational programs that uphold tribal sovereignty, self-determination, and the bare minimum of equitable federal support that Native Nations have fought to establish over generations.Modeled on recent proposals that promote anti-DEI (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion) measures, budget austerity, and bureaucratic consolidation, this bill threatens to gut critical federal programs that support Native communities. It is a direct challenge to the federal trust and treaty obligations owed to tribes, a responsibility that predates the founding of the United States and has been reaffirmed repeatedly in federal law.The Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and Bureau of Indian Education (BIE), already chronically underfunded, are squarely in the crosshairs. The bill targets Tribal Priority Allocations (TPA), flexible funding used for core government services like law enforcement, social services, and road maintenance. The Housing Improvement Program (HIP), which assists Native families in dire housing need, is viewed as duplicative and dispensable. BIE programs for early childhood education and tribal colleges, which struggle under current funding levels, could be further diminished or eliminated altogether. The assault extends far beyond the Department of the Interior. The Indian Health Service (IHS), the most direct manifestation of the federal trust responsibility in healthcare, faces cuts to vital services like Purchased/Referred Care, the Community Health Aide Program, and urban Indian health initiatives. Worse still, advance appropriations that protect IHS from government shutdowns could be reversed, once again jeopardizing lives with every budget crisis. The billâs impact on tribal housing and economic self-sufficiency would be devastating. It threatens the elimination or downsizing of the Indian Housing Block Grant (IHBG) and the Indian Community Development Block Grant (ICDBG), cornerstones of housing infrastructure across Native communities. Programs that support Native entrepreneurship through the SBA 8(a) program and the Office of Indian Economic Development could be slashed or rationalized out of existence.Education, language revitalization, and cultural preservation efforts face a similar fate. The Office of Indian Education and its work funding tribal education departments and Native language programs could be framed as ânon-coreâ and eliminated. Food security programs like the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), critical to many rural and remote tribal communities, are also at risk, dismissed as duplicative of SNAP without any understanding of their unique implementation in Indian Country.Environmental protections, transportation equity, justice programs, and the very infrastructure for federal-tribal financial relations, every one of these areas would suffer under âOne Beautiful Bill.â The Department of Justiceâs tribal set-asides, tribal transportation funding formulas, EPAâs General Assistance Program, and even the Treasuryâs Tribal Office and ARPA oversight functions are all on the chopping block. These arenât luxuries, theyâre necessities for self-governance, public health, and environmental and cultural survival. The common thread among targeted programs is telling: they are discretionary, equity-based, and uniquely tribal. They are not âwasteful government spendingâ, they are the instruments through which tribal governments serve their citizens and exercise the rights promised to them by treaty and law.Make no mistake: if passed, this bill would not just cut programs, it would unravel the framework of modern tribal self-determination, a framework built over the past 51 years with bipartisan support. It would erase decades of hard-won pro

I was listening to the "Wellness to QAnon Pipeline" episode of Maintenance Phase, which is as it sounds an episode about how people start off well-meaning and curious and end up drawn into QAnon conspiracy theories, and honestly it mimics a lot of behavior I've seen from the left recently.
Like at its core, QAnon believes that there is an elite class of people who hold all the power and can get away with any number of horrible crimes, because the rest of us are all powerless peasants who are being kept in the dark. The only real difference between them and leftist conspiracy theorists is that QAnon calls the elite class (((globalists))) and leftists call them billionaires, but once you start thinking like that it is SUCH a slippery slope from one to the other. It's incredibly dangerous.
It's stuff like confidently stating that Boeing got away with assassinating whistleblowers even though there's zero evidence and it doesn't even make sense that they would do that. Or insisting that Democrats are intentionally losing elections in order to play up the threat of Republicans in order to get elected, which again makes zero sense. It's insisting that the Democratic party fails on purpose because they are one discrete entity that moves in perfect unison and not, like, thousands and thousands of people with different ideas and goals who sometimes work at cross purposes. It's insisting that the reason American healthcare is bad is because the CEOs are all just evil megalomaniacs hitting the "deny care" button repeatedly, instead of understanding that our healthcare is incredibly complicated with a million interlocked parts that all feed into one another. It's insisting that a real progressive will never be elected because "they" won't let that happen, when there is zero evidence that those progressive candidates ever had any real support within the electorate.
It is - basically - the idea that bad things happen because Bad People are doing Bad Things, and the refusal to admit that sometimes bad things happen because of an incredibly complex web of causes and effects that can't be predicted or controlled.
And it's not like there's not any truth to it. Obviously healthcare and pharmaceutical companies put profits over human lives. Obviously billionaires and corporations interfere in politics. But ultimately most things are just really complicated, and anyone who's trying to sell you a fantasy that it's just the Bad People who are causing problems and all we need to do is get rid of them and let The Will of the People take over is either lying to you or is dangerously misinformed. Use your critical thinking, be a skeptic, and don't be blinded by people promising to sell you simple solutions that feel good.
#sorry for getting on my soapbox#it's late and i can't sleep because i can't FUCKING breathe. so have an annoyed and sanctimonious rant#Stop Spreading Conspiracy Theories. stop it! learn skepticism!#skepticism umbrella#us politics
