Can people in the fandom acknowledge that Mabel is also clearly a nerd, but she just doesn't show it? Like, one scene that always sticks with me is at the start of Dipper and Mabel versus the Future, they talk about high school. Mabel says that they learn about "You know what" and Dipper's reply is "Trigonometry!"

You would think that the next reply to this would be Mabel calling Dipper a nerd or something, but she replies with the same level of enthusiasm. She says "Oh yeah baby."

Only nerds are excited to learn about fucking trigonometry. Mabel is a fucking nerd.

I LOVE this question. Thank you! Historical AUs are SO underrated.

Fun Fact: My crazy ass back in the day came up with a World War II AU for When Sins Haunt.

With Hell's Half Acre, the core story is Charlotte trying to start over so it could work in any decade following the 1870s up until the rise of the 24-hour news cycle. Charlotte couldn't pretend to be someone else with her face plastered all over the news.

Both would work as a 1920/30s AU because noir archetypes stem from the western genre. For HHA, maybe something like a gangster-turned-private-eye (Elijah) works with a femme fatale (Charlotte) to solve a murder.

Wait, that sounds too familiar. Let's go back in time instead. 👀

As a vampire hunter, Darrell used to carry a big bulky case containing all his hunting tools.

When he got turned into a vampire, he couldn't stand to look or touch his own hunting case (very big holy glare: splitting headache. the holy water starts to bubble and boil when his hand hovers over it). The tools of his trade were his own weakness now, so he got rid of them.

He is, however, able to weild an Ottoman kilij or sword. Late 15th century in particular. Why? The very first vampire died by the blade of a Turkish assassin, and the only way to truly kill a vampire is to strike its heart and cut off its head.
