Patriarchy

POV: Waking up back to the 1700s wasnât as bad as you expected it to be when you had your best friend, Phainon, accompanying you through your new journey. Now you have the chance to begin feminism yourself! How much more advanced will society be if manage to get women equal rights by 1800 instead of 1900?! But, when you were close to getting one right in specific, Phainonâs support of you was suddenly⌠gone.
â ď¸ WARNINGS:

âY/N! Youâre back!â Phainon screamed excitedly from the main staircase of your shared palace when he saw you standing in your mansionâs entrance, beginning to step down towards you faster than he was doing previously. âHow was it on the streets today?â He asked when he finally finished climbing down and jumped off the stairs, walking towards you with his arms behind his back excitedly.
You, happy to see him too, were quick to take off your hat, jacket and accessories with the help of your lady-in-honor, staring back at Phainonâs joyful ocean-blue eyes.
âIt was fine. The army resistance was surprisingly very little today so we didnât have much trouble doing our protest.â You reciprocated his excitement, bowing to your maid in gratefulness before she could start walking away and taking your things back to your bedroom.
âThatâs great to hear, Y/N!â Phainon replied, eyes shining with pure admiration of your courage. âI also have good news.â He blinked to you with a smirky grin in his lips, just waiting for you to ask him about his achievement so he could brag about whatever heâd done.
âOh? What is it?â You crossed your arms casually, finally putting an end to the classy and formal behavior that you adapted to to follow the societal norms of the town where you two live in.
Phainon decided to fix his throat and tie before he could answer you, trying to make himself a bit more classy and snobby before flexing whatever news he had.
âOur pads and tampons are making such a huge success that one of my investors managed to begin trading our products with all North, Central and South America.â Phainon talked in a slightly sarcastic tone, obviously trying to exaggerate it to you so you could be extra happier with it.
âAre you serious?! No way! All three Americas at the same time?!â You gasped in shock, almost skipping in joy while imagining what would be all kinds of women trying out those items and finding out just how extraordinarily better they are than whatever they were currently using to absorb their menstruations.
âYessir!â Phainon opened both his arms, welcoming all that joy you were expressing.
Every day, Phainon somehow managed to surprise you with good news and raise your spirits about your current life whether it was because of his mindless kindness and consideration of you or with his intelligent marketing skills. You admired him so much that you didnât even like imagining what would your life be without him in this universe. Youâd probably just find yourself marrying an old man who has zero interest or empathy with you, much less in your feminist ideals, and only gives you the bare minimum attention to keep you sane.
The difference between all men and Phainon is that you and him were modern. While other men thought with a non-industrial mindset of making a few thousands for profit, Phainon, who has lived with billionaires, thinks immediately about the millions he can profit because he knows exactly what to invest in. And while other women were mostly illiterate and solely worried with things like their marriage and birthing dozens of kids for their husbands, you were worried about âmen thingsâ such as the job market and human progress and you had knowledge about all sorts of things. Because of this, you two were an extremely powerful duo. Your success was sudden, massive and impressive, leaving every man and woman from all social classes either inspired or envious. You two reigned everything. Either your or Phainonâs presence was highly valued in every party you stepped in, whether as an annoyance, taking everyoneâs eyes away from the main objective of the ball, or as a blessing, since your presence meant that the party was entertaining.
After all, whatever the perfect couple interacts with or believes in, many others will want to interact with it or follow your beliefs too.
Yes, you and Phainon were technically a couple that got married a few months ago, but in practice, you two didnât even sleep in the same room. It was an arranged business that you two agreed to do because women cannot really live without a husband and neither you or Phainon wanted you to be bullied for the rest of your life, so joining family, money and forces was obviously the smartest choice. You two had a little wedding and a marriage certification, but no kiss was ever seen after the fake one in the altar.
Your âmarriageâ was actually one of the first triggers to awaken women into feminism. It was completely alternative. You werenât forced to display affection with him publicly, you had all rights to complain and raise your voice to Phainon, Phainon had zero demands to you regarding his satisfaction with his life or kids, while at the same time heâd spoil you nonstop. It made women crave that freedom from their husbands, who all thought you were a greedy witch and that Phainon deserved better. But there was nothing they could do about it. His money reigned the country. So much that it made this sinful way of life of yours affordable and even cultural. Itâs not his fault he know as exactly what inventions will be successful or not, but heâll only keep growing, and whatever you two do will be what people want to do too. âHisâ idea about creating tampons and pads was actually a request from you. Using random, non-absorbing cloths as pads was horrible and barely efficient, making your routine horrible during menstruation, so you decided to talk to Phainon about it, who immediately went after the creation of tampons and pads. A perfect example of how you two were iconic. Phainon already knew tampons and pads would be an immediate millionaire success, and all women envied the dedication of your husband to you compared their own men.
There is so much Phainon has done to you⌠He gave you a whole personal room for you to sleep in without him, a whole garden that had all the flowers you wished, he bought you all the dresses and makeup you wanted and every reform and furniture of the house was ordered by you. It felt like his life mission was assuring you a comfortable, almost free life, but it still felt incomplete to you because of one reason. The inferiority of women. Seeing women being sent away at age of 15 to marry a 40 year-old man made your heart ache with anguish. Seeing men shame prostitutes for their jobs and even throw tiny rocks on them made you angry. Seeing menâs hypocrisy to force women into a religion and a cult of purity that they donât follow on their own made your blood boil⌠A much larger list of failures in this patriarchal system made you revolt, so you begun using your influence and money to create feminism.
And your ideas were expectedly booming between all women of your country, and Congress was slowly becoming more and more convinced that it wouldnât be horrible idea to give women a few rights.
âI know Iâm awesome, I know.â Phainon used a hand to push his frontal hair back to act even prouder of himself in front of you.
âWeâre making so much progress in so little time! I canât believe we are the first era of feminists and weâre turning out to be so successful!â You tip-toed in the floor, holding your own cheeks with excitement.
âWe? No, no, no⌠you.â Phainonâs fingers suddenly reached to your chest bone and pressed it down, forcing all the credits for the success of the feminist movement to you. âAnd a lady like you deserves a delicious meal in compensation for her work, donât you think?â He took away his finger off you, but his face leaned a bit closer to you too, staring at you deeply with admiration. âFollow me, Y/N.â He blinked a bit seductively, making you giggle, and when you looked down, his hands was hanging open in front of you just waiting for you to hold it.
And so you did, inflating your chest with air to show him your excitement and how high were your expectations. Phainon giggled at your behavior, beginning to gently pull you around the house.
You and Phainon silently walked in direction of the dinging room, only a few noises of creaking wood accompanying your steps. The silence wasnât awkward, only a bit tense due to the circumstances you were in. Every corridor you two walked through, the house would become quieter and darker despite still being early afternoon. Your dining room was in a corner of the house where no background noise could annoy you and him, meaning it was distant from the homeâs main entrance. And when you had finally reached the long, dark and narrow hall that led to nothing but the dining room in its end, Phainon decided to break the silence.
âYou also have a second appointment today, donât you? Or maybe tomorrow? Or maybe it already happened?â Phainon turned half of his face to you, staring at you with curiosity.
âA second appointment? I donâtââ Before you could finish speaking, your brain suddenly brought back a memory of you and some of your friends talking about future plans and played it for you.
It was you, Ms. Castorice and Ms. Algaea, the other two co-leaders of your movement, discussing about some great news in Aglaeaâs mansion. Congress had accepted to participate in a debate with you and a team of other 5 people about giving women a few rights. You and them were discussing about which topics to bring up, which people to form a team with, and when should the debate happen.
âCat got your tongue?â Phainon woke you up from your thoughts, laughing at your frozen face and still staring at it now with a mischievous stare.
âI do!â You snapped the fingers of your other free hands. âI-I have to go to Congress by 6 tonight!â Phainonâs eyes widened when you reminded him of what appointment was scheduled for today or maybe sometime else.
âAh, yes!â Phainon stopped walking and let your hand go. âYou were telling me about your plans for it a few days ago!â He pointed to you with a hand, trying to relate to you.
âYes, yes, yes! Iâve prepared such good arguments to tell the Congress! Itâll be very difficult for them for them to deny our requests, much less with a good reason!â You crossed your arms again, remembering the expectations you had set. âCan you imagine? By tomorrow we might get the right to divorce! Women will get the right to divorce!â Phainonâs eyes widened when he felt the impact of those news.
âSeriously? The right to divorce this early?!â His mouth dropped to the floor as you confidently nodded to him.
âYessir! We might finally be able to ask for a divorce too!â You laughed at your own additional words, but you quickly realized that Phainon went fully quiet while you were, so you stopped laughed and looked him, only to see he did not reciprocate, still with the same widened expression in his face, but his mouth was not smiley anymore.
âWhat do you mean?â He asked a bit confused.
âMe and you⌠Getting a divorceâŚâ You pointed to him and you as you spoke, then you put your hands together only to separate them, representing what divorce was.
But Phainonâs expression turned horrified and almost pale when you separated your hands from each other, apparently taking it as a genuine offense.
âWhy..?â His eyebrows frowned, looking as you worried.
âWell.. because we arenât exactly married⌠This is all just for survival, remember?â You laughed a bit to try cooling him off, but Phainonâs expression only seemed to sadden even more.
âBut⌠weâre fine together, arenât we? Weâre surviving really well, arenât we? So why would you want to divorce?â Phainon stepped closer to you once, and this hall started to feel like itâd became narrower.
âW-Well, yeah, weâre doing good, but if I get women the right to divorce and to work independently, I wonât need you anymore⌠I mean, we were not doing this back in Amphoreus for a reasonâŚâ You laughed it off again, but then his hurt expression and silence made you realize you shouldnât be giving him any reasoning. âWhatâs going on, Phainon?â You darkened your expression, trying to get straight to the point.
âIâve been a good husband, havenât I? Iâve made you happy all this time, havenât I?â Phainon now sounded visibly anxious, breath almost hitching as he slowly stepped closer and closer to you, forcing you to repel and step backwards.
âYeah, Phainon, but youâre not actually my husband. No need to call yourself oneâŚâ You laughed at his words, not sympathizing with his worry. âThis is all an act for us to survive in this society, remember? There is no actual love or dependence between us or anythingâŚâ Phainonâs eyes widened with that last phrase as if you said something that just crushed his heart.
âW-What..?â Phainonâs cute puppy eyes stared at you with dying hope, but you still didnât feel the slightest pity for him.
âPhainon, seriously, what the fuck is going on?â You decided to step forward this time, setting your ground for him to understand he was almost disrespecting your space.
Phainon didnât answer you at first, only reluctantly staring at your eyes with his shaky blue pupils. It costed him quite a while to build courage to be truthful with you, gulping down his accumulated saliva and turning his head down to avoid the shame of what he has in his mind.
âI⌠I donât want a divorce.â His confession came out as loud as a whisper, which made you not understand what he said initially and forced you to guess it.
Jointing the few syllables youâve heard and assuming the words and articles heâd said with the help of context clues, youâd concluded heâd said âI donât want a divorceâ, which immediately triggered you to have a negative reaction. But you still remained quiet, trying to comprehend why would he want to stay married to you. Maybe heâs afraid to live without a wife in this rigid society? But heâs a man⌠You are the one supposed to be afraid of living without a husband. Or maybe heâs thinking about that? About your safety and comfort living in this society without a husband? Or maybe⌠that alternative youâve been avoiding to recognize ever since the day of your âmarriageâ..?
âŚ
No, it canât be. He would never.
So you just sighed, throwing that thought to the back of your and concluding your investigation. Phainon did not want a divorce, and he doesnât want it because heâs worried about you.
âYou donât a want a divorce?â You firmly queried, trying to have a bit of confirmation over your guess, a hand of yours moving to the necklace you wore to fidget it while he answered.
âYesâŚâ He mumbled shyly and you scoffed in pride of having guessed it correctly, still not understanding why was he be acting like this if his intentions were so pure.
âWhy?â You inflated your chest again, preparing for whatever he wanted to say now.
âBecauseâŚâ He tried to answer your question immediately, but the knot in his throat impeded him from finishing. âBecauseâŚâ And he tried again, a bit less desperately, failing so miserably he looked down to the floor again in embarrassment.
And so, you exhaled, letting all that imprisoned air in your lungs in a sigh. Since he couldnât say it for himself, youâd do it for him.
âI appreciate your worry for my comfort, Phainon, but I can definitely live on my own. I donât care about what these people have to say about me and my choices. In fact, they can feel free to bully me as much as they want, Iâll still be milking more money than them in the end of the day.â You spoke less firmly, trying to see if that would make him feel comfortable to be more honest with you. âI canât even guarantee that we will get the right to divorce in the first place anywayâŚâ You tried to be a bit more optimistic, but then you immediately regretted it in recognition that it is needed to be realistic in a situation like this. âBut Iâll still go to Congress today and fight for it. For me and all the women that need to get away from their husbands.â You could see Phainon swallowing another big chunk of saliva when you finished talking, surprisingly having a negative reaction again.
âFor you? Why you?â Phainon stepped closer once again, face only becoming more stunned, which truly disturbed you.
âYouâre scaring me, Phainon.â You brought your shoulders closer to your body, trying to make yourself more resistant and tolerable to his behavior.
âI donât mean to scare you, Y/N⌠I just want to know why do you want a divorce when weâre so happy togetherâŚâ He tried to argue in a way that still didnât reveal his reason, but seeing how unmoved and suspicious you still were of him, he sighed and squinted his eyes. âI donât want a divorceâŚâ He stated his intentions again, but in a weak tone that made him sound like a hungry puppy, trying to make you feel guilty.
And that pissed you off. You believed Phainon was genuinely not trying to intentionally manipulate you into staying married him, but he was still acting unreasonably.
âBut I do.â You countered him firmly. âAnd I will get it.â You wanted to turn away and immediately walk back to your room, but the moment you spun your right foot, before you could even start about turning your full body away from him, Phainon reacted to your words.
âNo, you wonât..!â The tone of his voice deepened in such a rapid way that made you stop and look back at his eyes immediately, a sense of danger growing in the back of your mind.
âYes, I will.â Feeling even more cornered by the hallâs tightness and afraid of Phainon, you decided to turn away abruptly in a speed that would stun Phainon for a moment before he could possibly catch you and bring you back to the discussion.
âWhere are you going..?!â You heard Phainon stomp forward harshly, launching himself forward to reach your wrist and hold you tight with his large hand.
âLet me go, Phainon.â You decided to turn your eyes back to his again, trying to use your presence to order him, forcing yourself to control your voice from shaking as you spoke, taking his action as a threat to your security.
âWhy are you trying to leave..? Why are you trying to leave me?!â His eyes were fully widened with anguish as he desperately filled you with two questions to answer.ďżź
âIâm just⌠not hungry anymore. Iâll eat later.â You quickly mumbled a fake reasoning, but it didnât seem to convince him. After all, Phainonâs eyebrows noticeably frowned.
âThatâs not true. Why are you lying to me..?â His grip in your wrist tightened in a way that made you grunt from the pain.
âPhainon, youâre hurting me..!â You tried to pull your hand away from him, only to be fully held back, which only made you even more nervous and scared of him.
âI donât want us to divorce, Y/N⌠We donât need a divorceâŚâ He suddenly turned a bit soft again, endlessly trying to argue with you about that despite the fact that he was really freaking you out.
âI-I need to prepare for Congress, Phainon..! Let me go at this instant!â You even tried stepping away from him, seeing if it was possible to run away, but it didnât work due to his heavy weight holding you back.
âNoâŚâ He mumbled, looking the deepest he could to your eyes, still trying to find any bit of pity in you and hope for himself.
âYouâre only giving me more reasons to divorce you right now, Phainon..! Let me go now!â You had no choice but to try facing him with your own strength, now trying to use your other hand to grab that wrist of his to pull it away from you.
âNo⌠We canât divorceâŚâ His repetitiveness finally made you snap.
âYes we can and we will!â You launched your face forward and screamed at him, trying to shake your hand out of his grip the fullest you could.
But that triggered him snap too in reaction to your audacity in making such a hurtful statement.
âNO, WE WONâT!â He screamed at a tone that youâve never heard from him and didnât recognize, also finally releasing your wrist.
But before you give your first step backward, or think about his change in tone, something else stunned you again.
SLAP!
Your body immediately fell to the ground as Phainonâs hand smacked across your face, your feet enrolling themselves with the thick layers of your dress, giving your instincts time to only put your palms in the wooden floor before your head actually hit the ground, meaning you successfully landed sat instead of fully laid. But you recovered a second after the fall, so you immediately placed a hand on the cheek Phainon had slapped to ease the arduous pain he inflicted on you and rose your head up to him, finding him powerfully standing right in front of you, staring at you like a caught prey, jailed in a cage.
Neither of you spoke for the next seconds to process what had just happened and only breathed with opened mouths. The more you thought, the more frightened for your life you became, remembering the sudden change in his tone to one youâve never heard, the slap itself and the threat it represented to your relationship⌠But the more he thought, the more calm he became in realization that you were frozen in fear, defeated by his action. And thatâs why after a last round of breathing in and out deeply, he shut his mouth and calmly walked closer to you, kneeling down in front of you.
âY/NâŚâ A hand of his also reached the same cheek you were holding, cupping it gently, which only made your skin shiver with disgust of his touch, begging yourself to scream at him to get the fuck away from you. âIâm⌠I-Iâm sorryâŚâ He briefly wheezed, trying to ease the both of you from the mood. âI didnât mean to⌠do this⌠or⌠t-to scare you.â He pathetically smiled at you, only making you wish to run away from him even more, but your adrenaline could only afford to freeze your body in that sat position. âI just⌠donât want us to divorce⌠Thereâs no good reason to do that⌠Thatâs allâŚâ He gulped down again.
You knew it. Deep down, youâve always known it. You just didnât want to admit it.
But maybe⌠you shouldâve definitely talked to him about it sooner.
Phainonâs kindness⌠was never just friendly.
And there were always many little signs that rose that flagâŚ
For example, the way heâd stare at you whenever he gave you a gift, sometimes only a few inches away from your face, just waiting to see the amazing reaction heâd rip out of you. Deep down, it always felt like he urged for more of something you couldnât name until now. It didnât feel like he just wanted your comfort and happiness because thatâs what friends do, it felt like he did it as if he was your lover. These little gifts, perfectly enveloped in a beautiful wrap, felt like little seduction attempts. After all, the next gift would always be better than the next, as if he wanted to show just how dedicated he is, and convince your heart to let yourself fall for him.
The way he treated you during the day of your marriage⌠In the altar, what was supposed to be just a quick smooch to pose a fake picture of yourselves to the crowd witnessing you, turned out to be so much more touchy, intimate and even⌠real, like real couples do. And even when the vows were done, he kept throwing himself at you and holding your hands for the rest of the celebration party, for some reason so happy with the day. Friends donât stick their tongues inside their friendsâ mouths when itâs needed to fake a kiss. It wasnât just an act.
And the one habit that mostly made you icky about thinking about Phainonâs possibly feeling things for you⌠The way his eyes stoned in you and his cheeks flushed whenever he saw you trying any ball dresses and makeup for the parties you were invited to or even when he saw you in your rendered pijamas when you two were home⌠They always delivered you a message of lust, and you donât want any of your friends to lust over you, much less Phainon in such a situation like yours right now. But it was true, Phainon would not react to you being pretty like a friend would.
You shouldâve accepted it sooner. But now itâs too late. Youâve let this grow. You are reaping what you sowed.
Phainon liked you as more than a friend.
âBut think about it⌠Wouldnât it be iconic? The leader of the feminist movement herself doing all of this work to get the right of divorce when she, on her own, does not desire to divorce her husband? You could show them that it is possible to be a feminist and be a married woman at the same timeâŚâ His thumb caressed your hand, lamenting that he couldnât directly reach your fluffy cheek.
But you were still too stunned to say anything, despite the thousands of protests running in your mind, begging to be shouted.
âWe are such a good duo⌠Why would you ever want to put and end to us? Put an end to our influence? Our impact? Our empire?â Phainon looked at you with more pity, assuming his position of total power over you. âWe donât need to be exactly like other couples⌠I would never force you to do that⌠We can still be exactly like how we are today, but all I want is to still be able to live in the same house as you⌠and call you my wife.â Phainon pulled that hand of yours that held your cheek and turned it around, making your palm face down.
And with very slow movements, he smooched your knuckles, smiling softly at them. And then he looked down at your fingers, meeting that engagement ring that the both of you were forced to wear to avoid any accusations or bullying, and that made his grin grow, blue eyes shining with joy. He leaned down and kissed the ring too with more intensity, sucking your skin for a bit to demonstrate just how much he valued that golden ring.
âI just want you to wear this ring with me for the rest of your life⌠Is that too much to ask from you? Iâve done so many harder things for youâŚâ Phainon laid his cheek on your hand, rubbing himself against it as if it was the comfiest pillow heâd ever laid on.
He kept doing that for a few seconds before he kissed your hand again⌠and then again⌠again, again and again, many spots in it becoming a bit moistened with his saliva. He even turned your hand around and begun kissing your palm and its heel as deep as he could.
âI love you, Y/NâŚâ He mumbled in your skin with closed eyes, breath warming up your skin. âI really doâŚâ He made sure his message was clearly sent to you, pausing for a moment to let you absorb it. âBut I canât let you do this to us⌠to meâŚâ He opened his eyes, staring at you with a weird kind of pity again, as if he wasnât bothered by your discomfort, like a masochist would.
But then he stood up again, not offering you any help to get up too.
âYou wonât go to Congress today.â He stated a bit more seriously, contrasting his previous tone as he stared down at you very firmly, before he started to calmly walk away from the scene as if he hadnât just done something completely absurd and out of normal.
Your eyes followed his body in fear, watching him walk with his hands holding each other behind his back ao elegantly, each step making the wood planks creak a bit. In the end of the hall, where you two came from, Phainon met one of your many maids standing still with an uncomfortable expression visible in her face, but still forcing herself to do her job as either your or his servant.
âIf you see her trying to leave tonight, donât let her. You understand?â Phainon spoke to the maid very gently, contrasting himself once again.
âYes, sir.â She nodded, assuming her new responsibility.
âGood. You may call me or the guards in the gate if that happens.â Phainon assigned the maid her permissions, making her nod again, but silently. âGo tell the other maids their new assignment.â He used to a hand to tap her shoulder twice very sweetly.
âYes, my master.â She gently bowed to him again, making Phainon grin, feeling comfortable enough to keep walking away from the scene.
When he finally turned to the left and fully left you alone, the maid looked at you again, staring at your pitiful situation with mixed feelings. It was a silent communication, but you could still get her general message, the same way she could get yours.
After all the efforts youâve been doing to push a feminist agenda in your town to all kinds of women and men, youâve failed to do that in your own home with your own maids. The same women who were stuck in your palace, working 24/7 to keep every detail of your home perfect and make your routine as easy as possible, were neglected by you and your movement, just like how in real life some women were neglected from the early stages of feminism too. And now you were suffering the harshest consequences of it you could suffer. She pitied you and even seemed to wish she could do something for you, but all she was ever taught to do in this sort of job was obey the manâs command, meaning sheâd betray her own beliefs and risk her whole career if she dared to think about helping you, which would be disobeying Phainon. So all she could do was give that silent treatment until she couldnât bare her own grief anymore and begun to walk away in the same direction as Phainon did, beginning to call him by his nickname, her voice echoing in your ears lightly.
How could you forget? You live in a conservative patriarchy.
Phainon is the man in your relationship.
In conservative patriarchies, the man is always the leader. The woman is just his follower. A servant who is always mindlessly ready to please him.
And he likes this system the way it is.
Today he just made that very clear. The roles of the relationship were established.

Peter is naturally very gifted with an abundance of smarts, his brain always seeming to master skills and abilities completely foreign to him. And while he was a jack of all trades, his confidence in those said abilities tend to lack from time to time. His mind making him question if he was even any good at the things he claimed himself to be.
Extensive amounts of time and effort gets put into research and reading, doing whatever deems necessary to fine tune skills.
And while things with you were fairly new, he wanted to make a good impression in the bedroom department. Essentially, he wanted to impress you, show you things that may very well be new to you both.Â
Plans were made for you to stay with him this weekend, to spend a night or two at his apartment. There was no definitive talk on what was to happen, but you each knew what it would mean: two adults having their first sleepover as a couple. It was only common sense that it would lead to something more intimate.
Peterâs skills were fairly rusty, his knowledge and confidence on anything intimate seeming to pass with the love of his previous partner some time ago. And so for the days leading up to your planned arrival, he immersed himself in research and forums: relearning the female form.Â
He watched countless videos, all for educational purposes â spending hours on pornsites just to acquire as much information as possible. He really wanted to make this an enjoyable experience for you both, so to him, research was the way to go.Â
Peter took a considerably lengthy list of notes, jotting down tips and tricks and techniques to ensure he was confident in getting you off. Though itâs easier said and done. The tricky part was always putting it into practice, applying the knowledge when the time comes.
And so, now you lay on his bed, underwear discarded somewhere on the mattress, bare legs bent in the air as if to keep yourself exposed and available to him. Itâs always frightening to present yourself to a new partner: worries of what they may think and say.Â
But with Peter, not once did you have those doubts. The way he simply is, is enough to distract those thoughts.
Heâd admit, it was rather intimidating. Seeing in person once again just how complicated the female form is. It was almost enough to completely discredit the confidence in all that heâs learnt. But he prevails.Â
He itches himself closer, steady breath hot as it hits at your cunt. Heâs slow, movements feeling calculated but really heâs just trying to remember the steps in the hazy panic.
He presses a kiss to the crease of your upper inner thigh, the soft, fluttery touch an effort to build you up slowly. His hands cup the backs of your thighs, wandering, needy fingers pawing and squeezing at the doughy flesh.Â
And so he presses another kiss, seering the act of affection into the other side, giving both sides similar attention. But between either thigh, there was something else that awaited his attention. Your pussy growing antsy with anticipation, a slight ache forming as he attends to the other parts of you â giving your thighs and ass cheeks the attention your cunt so clearly wanted.Â
Though you wait. You keep your hands clasped to your chest rather than the locks of his hair, not wanting to hasten or progress things too much, too soon. Â
His kisses eventually circle inwards and he places one to the centre of your folds, the light, brief moment of contact having more of an effect on you than youâd have expected. It was the attention to detail that caught up to you, the slow, timely movements allowing things to build up naturally for you.
He halts with the kisses for now and lines the expanse of your cunt with his tongue, trailing your folds up and down with the flat of the muscle. Unpointed pressure showing his lack of haste in the matter. He reaches your clit and his lips wrap around it, pucking yet another faint kiss.Â
But he doesnât part from it. Instead itâs like heâs latched onto it, mouth covering the sensitive nub with gentle pressure. His tongue pokes out between his lips as he swipes at your clit, flat tongue flickering over it unrushed.Â
You release your firm hold around your breasts and instead place your hands atop his head, unable to keep yourself from touching him. Your fingers slot into the messy strands of hair at the front, antsy fingers simply using him as something to hold onto.Â
The silent act of tugging his hair is quite enough to egg him on further, to encourage him even. The way you seek him out was something he found rather endearing, erotic too. The way you sound is also quite the confidence booster, your airy deep full breaths wordlessly telling him that what heâs doing is working. That heâs doing something right.Â
He parts from your clit for a brief moment to kiss back down the length of your slick cunt, lips halting at the very bottom of you. His tongue sharpens as he begins to lick up you, the slight point curling up against your entrance with the movement. Though that's all it is. Nothing more comes from that little teasing dip into you.Â
He laps at your arousal only to spit it back onto your pussy, combining your juices with spit of his own. And it becomes apparent that heâs starting to grow lost in the act, freestyling and abandoning his intricate, mental step by step. Like a sense of pressure and worry leaves his shoulders as he listens to your pants, your bodily reactions continuing to tell him that heâs doing a good job.
Peter retracts a hand from the cheek of your ass, instead moving it towards your cunt. He lines over the mess of your folds with his index, trailing over the spit and juice and arousal as he itches it closer to your entrance. His lips and tongue resume their attention on your clit while his finger begins to guide into you. Easing in with no resistance at all.Â
He locates what he guesses to be your g-spot, the ridges and bumps of it later telling him that heâs correct. And so he starts to rub the pad of his finger against it, mimicking a âcome hitherâ motion.
And once again, your reactions guide him: fingers gripping tighter in his hair, breaths growing ragged and strained, hips winding, chest rising and falling. Every single one of your bodily responses coming from a place of deep, unwavering pleasure. His research didn't need to tell him that you were beginning to near your end, he could just feel it.
Many minutes pass with Peter repeating those few movements, the combination seriously altering the ability to control your volume. You whine and pant against him, the hands that once laid atop his head now sit on his shoulders, your force trying to push him away from between your thighs. The feelings of it all growing too intense.Â
But thatâs not what you really wanted. You didnât want him to stop and he knew that also.
You feel that pressure build in the pit of your stomach and without much time to prepare, you're writhing against him, an unfamiliar sense of tension accompanying. His finger acts as a plug inside you as he awaits the moment, only retracting when the time feels right. He pulls his index and lowers his mouth, relocating to the bottom half of your cunt â lining himself with you to swallow as much of your squirt as possible.Â
And once your convulsing and spasming subsides, heâs pressing soft, reassuring kisses to the inners of your thighs, making conscious effort to help you down easily. He adjusts and repositions himself, moving up the length of your body to hover atop you, face now close with yours once again. His cheeks blushing with pride.
His lips ghost yours and you taste yourself.Â
âThat was so embarrassing,â you mutter against him, head turning away bashfully.
He maintains eye contact, his head tilting with yours as if to signify the importance of what heâs about to say.
âThat was the hottest thing Iâve ever seen.â

ۜৠۜৠۜŕ§
It was spring, one of those unbearably cold nights. Your bedroom windows were latched shut, the purple curtains pulled shut in hopes it would block any draft.
There was a knock on your window, startling you, hidden under your stack of heavy blankets; the bottom of which being a heated blanket, cranked to the highest setting.
You ignored the knock, clutching onto your blankets to revel in the security.
Another knock came, this one more desperate.
Erroring on the side of caution, you slid from the blankets to receive your old metal bat from your closet.
Steps were taken on the tips of your toes, stuttering when anotherâeven more desperateâknock rattled the window.
Your fingers wrapped around the fabric of the curtains, throwing them to the side while you had your bat ready.
The face your eyes laid on drew a small gasp from your lungs, followed by a hushed laugh.
Oscar, sat on top of a tree branch and clinging on for dear life, was waiting outside your window. His cheeks were pink from the chill of the wind.
Carefully, you placed the bat against the wall, and opened the window.
âWhat are you doing here? Shouldnât you be in your dorm? Asleep?â Despite your hushed inquiries, there was a considerable blush on your face along with a smile. You tucked your hair behind your ears.
Oscar was struggling to hold on. âLet me in before I fall to my death, please?â He gave a half-hearted, nervous laugh. His breath fanned in a hazy fog of smoke.
âYeah, yeah. Come in.â You stepped back.
Loud as ever, Oscar entered your bedroom. You hushed him, glancing back at the door, straining your ears for any incoming footsteps. There was none.
He apologized in hush tones, securing the window closed.
âWhat are you doing here?â You asked again in whispers and laughs. The risk of getting caught made you giddy. You took Oscarâs hand, dragging him to sit on the end of your bed with you.
Oscar laughed at your current state. âI was staying at one of the guys, and I realized your house was only a few streets away, so I cut through the yards and now here I am.â
You tilted your head. âWho are you and what have you done to my Oscar?â
He laughed.
âBecause my Oscar wouldâve never done something so rebellious.â
He smirked. âYour Oscar, hm?â He teased.
Hand on his chest, you gave him a small shove. âShut up,â you rolled your eyes. To make up for your shoving, you leaned forward to connect your lips. Oscars hand took hold of your cheek.
The both of you, so immersed in the other, did not even register the sound of the door opening until your fifteen year old sisterâs gasp shattered your shared delusion.
Whipping around, you stumbled after her as she progressed down the hall. You caught up with her, tugging her back down the hall. âPlease, donât tell them.â You begged her. Them being your parents. It seemed the little snitchâs favorite hobby was getting you into trouble.
She considered your pleas. âOnly if you let me borrow your white top with the blue lace and buy me food tomorrow.â She demanded, smug as ever.
âFine.â You seethed, releasing her.
When you returned to your bedroom, Oscar was lying on his side along the length of the bed. He had his head propped up in his hand, relaxed form while flipping through one of your decorative magazines. He paused. âThis is scandalous.â He commented, an unreadable expression. He flipped the magazine around so you could see; a hot model in skimpy lingerie.
You snatched the magazine from him, tossing it on your nightstand. âBet you liked it too, weirdo.â You grinned, joining him on the bed. You sat beside him, legs tucked beneath you.
âWas thinkinâ âbout how youâd look in it, actually.â He sat up.
Your face burned. âCreep.â You stated, leaning in once more to kiss him on the lips. A sweet connection.
You settled down, lying with your head on his shoulder.
Exhaustion pulled you towards the depths of sleep. You fought it off, hand momentarily tightening around his hoodie. âWhen do you leave for Italy?â You asked in tired murmurs.
âA week and a half.â
Something between a whine and a hum vibrated your chest. âDonât go.â
He ran a hand through your hair. âIâll be back before you know it, pretty girl.â He paused. âHow about I bring you back a souvenir?â
You didnât answer, at which point Oscar peered down to see your face. Completely at rest in your sleep.
He kissed the top of your head.

Weird Family = Happy family. | Albedo x reader (with special appearances of Klee and now mini Human Durin)
CONTAIN SPOILERS FROM THE 5.6 INTERLUDE!
Category(?): Fluff... Melting, absolutely cute.
ăăăăă ! (â Â â ęâ á´â ęâ ). Of course I had to do something like this, after seeing human Durin bc he's such a cute little boy and IK that he will live with big brother Albedo and little sister Klee (absolutely adorable). This is quite a long one, so you have been advised.
Enjoy! âŚ
â§. â â â âPOV:
"You have been a couple for a while now, to the point that you spend most of your time at his house instead of yours. Albedo lives with his little sister Klee, and now a human child version of Durin. What would the dynamic be like for you two as a couple?"
â§ËâęˇęŚď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śęˇęŚď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śęŚęˇâ§âËâš

â You weren't surprised when Albedo accomplished the last mission his master left. Actually, you were already expecting it, because you knew the genius he is. Even so, you were cautious about it, not being sure how it would goâespecially taking into consideration that he was going to use the heart of the dragon that almost made Mondstadt fall centuries ago.
â Albedo, being as perceptive as usual and knowing you weren't just going to trust him without proofâone of the several things he likes about youâmade a decision even before turning mini Durin into a human. After it was done, he would test him... not only to ensure his body was stable, but also to have some proof that could make you feel comfortable and safe around the little dragon-human kid.
â So he did. The first time you met the little guy, your heart melted. You were working in the lab with Sucrose, helping her stabilize a solvent created with Hydro elemental energy, when you saw a well-known face enter the lab and a shorter figure behind himâred wings slightly moving while he poked his head in, violet hair and a pair of cute horns. You almost melted right there... almost.
â "Oh, so this is..." Before you could even finish your question, Albedo kneeled in front of the kid, and you followed his actions. "Durin, do you remember the friend Klee mentioned to you?" The little boy nodded while Albedo made the introductions.
â "Oh! You're Klee's big sister?" That instantly made you smile, because Kleeâ even before the two of you started your relationshipâ was already calling you big sister and dragging you around to avoid any... inconveniences (specifically, explosions in the city).
â After a few minutes of talking, Albedo noticed that the detailed report he had prepared for you wasnât really necessary anymore. You were already chatting with the curious kid, trying to explain what you were doing. He knew you'd accepted him the moment you affectionately ruffled his hair, making Durin laugh. Even so, Albedo still left the report for youâjust to ensure you felt comfortable and had the necessary (and scientific) proof to be at peace with the newest member of his very unique family.
â What you didnât expect was how much Durin liked you. He would often go with Klee to the lab whenever the sign "Experiment in Progress" wasnât hanging outside. Heâd ask you tons of questions about your research, and even ask Albedo if he could stay with you while you worked â just to learn more. How could you say no?
â âWhy is it shining like that?â, âWhatâs a Dendro solvent?â, âIs it edible?â â and a bunch more questions you willingly answered in the simplest way possible. Albedo wouldnât show it, but heâd be melting inside from seeing the bond the two of you shared.
â If you used to make desserts for your boyfriend, Klee, and yourself, Albedo quickly noticed how you began making more to share with Durin too. Playtime and dessert with Klee soon turned into playtime with Klee and Durin. Half of it was spent making sure none of Kleeâs Dodoco bombs exploded inside the city, and the other half trying to keep Durin from flying off without permission⌠The last part failed after the two kids decided to race for your last dessert.
â Eventually, Lisa or Kaeya would point out that the four of you looked and acted like a family. Youâd flusteredly dismiss it with a, âIâm just taking care of them, theyâre adorable.â
â If you ever looked for quiet time with Albedo, it would probably be in his office. Reports of your investigation now included some tea time and intellectual chats... also a few kisses, but thatâs not important, right?
â Yes, Durin would eventually start calling you âBig Sisterâ too.
â The first time you visited Albedoâs home after Durin became a human, you were completely surprised by how well he managed the two kids on his own. The house was tidy as usual, no sign of chaos or anything out of place â that is, until the two bundles of chaos he had as siblings ran toward you, almost making you fall in the process.
â Durin will want your attention. Klee will also want your attention⌠Albedo will make sure you donât go crazy and will look for an activity the four of you can enjoy together.
â When you stay over, itâs mostly because you want to spend time with Albedo â which you eventually do â but first, the two of you need to get the kiddos to sleep.
â When you finally have some time alone, Albedo will make some tea and bring desserts while the two of you talk about your day, your research, his art, etc. It feels strangely intimate â not just because you now spend more time at his house, but because you are the one who loves his two siblings as much as you love him.
â Klee will end up putting stickers on your lab coat while Durin paints the two of you in the lab. Of course, you show up the next day still wearing your lab coat full of stickers, proudly. And Albedo? Heâll find a cute drawing you forgot to take out of your report. Adorable.
â There will be a time when youâre taking care of them at Albedoâs house. Itâs raining, andâ âBig sister, letâs play together!â You get ambushed by two kids under the rain. Klee probably uses the chance to test her new sparkling water Dodoco bombs.
â When Albedo returns, the three of you are already changed into warm clothes, your hair still a bit damp, Durin curled up on one side and Klee on the other. He quietly places a blanket over your shoulders, wearing a faint smile.
â Durin will listen carefully when you talk or give advice. Klee⌠not so much. Which only proves your hypothesis that sheâs obedient only to Albedo or Jean.
â§ËâęˇęŚď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śęˇęŚď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śď¸śęŚęˇâ§âËâš
It was a cold morning. You werenât surprised to find Albedo still sleeping by your sideâheâd stayed up late the night before, working on an experiment. A lazy yet loving smile curled on your lips as you watched him sleep peacefully. Pale blond hair slightly messy, long lashes fluttering as he dreamed, and a relaxed expression that warmed your heart.
Careful not to wake him, you slipped out of bed and grabbed one of his cardigans, only to notice your clothes neatly arranged next to his. You werenât surprisedâby now, you spent more time at his place than your own. Your toothbrush stood beside his in the bathroom, and your lab coat hung right next to his. It felt strangely intimate, warm, and cozy.
Still drowsy, you made your way to the kitchen to brew some coffee, hoping it would give both of you the energy to face the day.
âI need to caffeinate⌠or perish,â you muttered, stifling a big yawn.
But before the coffee had even finished brewing, a pair of warm arms wrapped around youâa blur of violet hair.
So much for a quiet morning.
âBig sister, youâre awake!â Durin beamed, his little horns nuzzling against your chest and his face pressing into the cardigan youâd stolen. His dragon wings fluttered with excitement.
You were dazed, nearly losing your balance. "It seems like I've been ambushed by a chibi dragon..." you mumbled, your eyes still half-closed.
When you lowered your gaze, a pair of scarlet eyes met yours, gleaming with innocent curiosity. Then, Durin hugged you even tighter, and his cute dragon tail flicked excitedly.
A familiar figure with blonde hair, dressed in a red pajama and clutching a dodoco teddy to her chest, ran toward you. "Big sister is awake!" Kleeâs excitement was enough to make your heart melt, and with that, you finally shook off the sleepiness, fully waking up.
"Good morning, Klee," you greeted, still smiling as the Spark Knight hugged you. Now, you had two children keeping you in the kitchen, and the smile on your lips never wavered.
"Klee, youâre going to make her fall," Albedo remarked as he appeared in the kitchen, a faint smile on his lips. His hair was now tied in a low, slightly messy ponytail at the back of his head. "The two of you need to bathe before going out. Klee, why don't you make sure Dodoco gets ready while Durin takes a bath?"
Klee finally let you go, but then... "Are we going to eat pancakes today?" The Spark Knight asked eagerly, her usual energetic tone lighting up the room as she looked at her brother.
Albedo nodded, agreeing on the condition that they both get ready before breakfast. As Klee disappeared to her bedroom, Durin was still clinging to you.
"She's warm... And it's cold outside," he explained, still not letting go. "And smells like you... and vanilla." That last part made you blush, warmth rising to your cheeks as you glanced at Albedo.
"Iâll prepare something with meat just for you, but you need to get ready first, alright?" Durinâs scarlet eyes locked onto yours, as if you were making a promise. After you gently tousled his soft violet hair, he finally let you go and dashed off to the bathroom.
"Just as I imagined," Albedo said, accepting the mug of coffee you handed him, "youâre quite good at this."
You gave a tired but affectionate smile as you took your own sip of caffeine salvation. "So this is what I get for staying the night," you murmured, the warmth of the mug in your hands and the caffeine slowly reviving you. "Your family is pretty... particular."
Albedo moved gracefully around the kitchen, already pulling out ingredients to assist with breakfast. "Thatâs a fact I cannot deny," he replied in his usual calm tone.
"I still love it," you added, falling into step beside him.
"Excellent," Albedo replied without missing a beat, a rare warmth in his voice, "because youâre already part of it now."
You let out a soft chuckle, brushing a stray lock behind your ear as the two of you moved in quiet sync around the kitchen. There was a peaceful rhythm to it allâthe occasional brush of hands, the clink of utensils, and the muffled, joyful chaos of two kids fully awake and alive just a room away.
And in that moment, wrapped in vanilla-scented air, soft laughter, and shared glancesâyou couldnât have felt happier with your odd but wonderful little family.

One Step at a Time. Yandere Anaxa
I have had the worst fucking week. Rather than going into the grief and financial disasters of it all, I also lost my 50/50 and my 75/25 to this man so FUCK YOU ANAXAGORAS.
forced kiss, kidnapping, self-deprecating reader
.
He's reading some hardcover book with no title. His eyes idly scan across the page though his expression shows no interest. Worst of all, he's leaning against the toilet door so you can't get in. You tried to walk away to use the other one, but he only grabbed you and pulled you back. That happened four times before you stopped.
"This is ridiculous," you huff, crossing your arms in frustration, "I'm about to piss on the floor."
Anaxa briefly raises his gaze to yours, "What's ridiculous is that you won't do this simple thing. You'd rather urinate on yourself than give me a kiss? Childish."
Your cheeks heat up, eyes unable to focus in his direction, "You don't get it! It's not that easy for me. My lips are really bad right now anyway..." Your tongue swipes them before your fingers lift up to touch the dryness and cracks in your skin. You've always been hyper aware of your flaws, it's why you closed yourself off for so long.
Being kidnapped and held hostage by this psycho has only raised your anxieties. It was only a matter of time before he got fed up of you ignoring his advances, so he came up with the brilliant idea of 'transactions'. You want to sit in the garden? Only if you hold hands. Hungry? Sit on his lap for a few minutes so he can hold you. Now you need to pee and he wants you to kiss him, which you've done before, but he added the word 'tongue' to the receipt and you're just not ready for that.
He's not taking your excuse. Your body jumps as he slams the book shut with one hand, pushing off the door to stand intimidatingly before you.
You try to hold your own but you're shaking like a leaf in Autumn, just before it falls. You think you will fall if you don't calm yourself soon. Anaxa finally speaks up, making no move to touch you or bring you closer, "Patience isn't my virtue, but thankfully I make up for it in my stubbornness. I'm not so grossed out by bodily fluids that you're getting out of this. However, you may not enjoy the lesson I have planned to speed up your progress if you fail to try yourself."
With a heavy frown, you hold your hands tightly to your chest, scenarios running wildly in your head as you try to decipher his sentence, "What... What does that mean? What lesson?"
There's no change in his face, nor his stance, yet you can feel the excitement dripping off every word, "I'm quite handy with rope. If I get you naked and examine you thoroughly, then you'd have no reason to hide anymore. It's my ideal outcome, though I do care about you enough to take in your consideration as well."
How ironic. It's just a kiss, just a little tongue. And honestly, he is the monster who has stolen you away, why care about what he thinks at all? If he's disgusted by you then that's his fault for not doing the research! So, with this new - barely there - resolve, you step closer and place your trembling hands on his chest. Awkwardly, you lick your lips and stand on the tips of your toes, "F-Fine. Just one kiss."
Anaxa's hands start by gently cupping your hips, where did the book go?, and pulls you closer so that your chest is against his. His lips meet with yours, ready for your jolt as one of his hands holds the back of your head so you don't squirm away once his tongue touches your bottom lip. Your little yelp is cute to him, his other hands large and pressing warmly between your shoulder blades. Eventually, you stop trembling so badly, relaxing into his hold while your tongue shyly moves against his once he enters your mouth. You expected it to be warmer, the muscle cool, wet and countering the warmth of his body to yours.
Once he declares it's enough, giving you a squeeze before allowing you to pull away, your face is red and gasping as your teary eyes look to his for confirmation. You have to swallow the built up saliva before you ask, "Can I go now?"
He doesn't want to let you go, he wants to keep kissing you until your head goes fuzzy and your legs give out. He wants you underneath him and crying out his name as he fucks you so good that even leaving his embrace feels like a sin. Why won't you just fall for him like he did for you? And they call him blasphemous. His thumb rubs soothingly against your bottom lips, pushing the plump flesh down and letting it bounce back tantalizingly. His voice is low, lips pressing to the corner of your mouth, "I love every part of you. Don't worry yourself so much. Not with me. One day, you'll see how silly all of this really is."
Finally, he leaves you alone. You hear his footsteps distancing as you try and gather yourself. It's inevitable, whether you like it or not, he will go all the way with you. You just have to try and make this last as long as you can, if not for your own sanity then your pride as a captive.
You can be stubborn, too.

âUnable to slot Jews into a clearly defined role within their political agenda, most of the left tended historically to regard them with considerable ambivalence, and, in some cases, extreme hostility. While supporting universal human rights, the left never saw antisemitism as a primary concern. Instead, it was a secondary issue (if an issue at all) that would be resolved as a side effect of the general social liberation that the left was pursuing. Intrinsic to this approach is the view that Jewish particularity is, in itself, a defect to be remedied through assimilation and disappearance. [âŚ] Any attempt by Jews to make the struggle against antisemitism into a separate problem deserving of the same passion devoted to other progressive causes was rejected as a diversion from the main issues that animate the left.â
- The New Antisemitism, Shalom Lappin
On Antisemitism: An Open Plea.
Over the course of 2024, I was physically assaulted for being a Jew three times: once by a man waiting outside the JCC, and twice while working the desk at an anarchist bookstore.
All three of these attacks were done by men, all almost immediately after identifying me as a Jew. One of my assaulters, a white man with scruffy facial hair and a bucket hat, clearly identified as some kind of Christianâhe wore three cross necklaces and a blue shirt with the Virgin Mary on the front. One man was black, wearing pressed slacks and dark leather dress shoes. One man was college-aged, white, wearing a band hoodie and jeans. Two of the encounters were one-off incidents, whereas the Christian man searched for me multiple times at the bookstore while I was not present. I am a fairly large person, and one with a lot of combat training, so I was lucky that none of these incidents resulted in the worst possible outcomes for an early-20s woman confronted alone after dark. Many people are not so lucky when they are put in my place. Particularly Jewish women.
And as a quick aside, people donât tend to take the Jewish part of âJewish womanâ seriously. When I add this comment to the story, a lot of people scoff. I can somewhat understand why; despite the curls, if you were to look at me, you might think, âHow did they even know you were Jewish?â. For two of these men (the ones who didnât see me coming out of the Jewish Community Center), the answer is fairly simple. When they heard my name, they paused and asked. I donât like to assume the worst in people, and thus I confirmed, though in the time since I have gotten much sparser with revealing that information to strangers. This is how I know they were attacking me for that reason. When you reveal yourself to be a Jew, or are recognized against the odds, things can often become unsavory quickly.
Any leftist worth their salt would call these attacks against me unconscionableâI doubt that most would be willing to defend this behaviorâbut make no mistake. None of the men who attacked me were acting out some kind of exception to a rule, nor was I particularly surprised that these incidents all occurred in or around spaces that should be safe for Jews. This is the reality that the Jewish people live in. Wherever we are, we can expect a roughly equal reaction from the population, left wing or right wing, and the largest point of difference between the two is whether they will call you âZioâ or âKikeâ before grabbing you by the collar.
I was attacked only three times last year. Yet, countless more times I have watched the people in my communities ignore the rhetoric that led to these attacks, wave them off as radicals, as zealots unrepresentative of their peers, and continue to live their lives as if these incidents donât happen regularly.
This is a major problem on the left.
Yesâthe left.
The American right-wing is axiomatically predisposed to this type of behavior. If they arenât the ones committingthe hate crimes, then they are often the ones most comforted by them, affirmed that their goal of a pure-white America is one step closer to being attained. Itâs never surprising for a Jew to encounter a conservative with just one or two comments to make about us being âgood with moneyâ, âowning the banksâ, âcontrolling the mediaâ, and other examples of kindergarten-level political opinions. On the other hand, one wouldnât automatically assume that a leftist would hold such opinions. Being opposed to race-based and religion-based discrimination, it would be a bit counter-intuitive for leftists to say such things about Jews. Wouldnât it?
You would be surprised.
If thereâs anything that the last year has taught me, itâs that the left is much more susceptible to antisemitism than ever previously understood, despite its long history within progressive social movements. So long as you stipulate âIsraeliâ and/or âZionistâ before saying the word âJewsâ, any and all manner of violent hate speech can be considered revolutionary sentiment: I have seen fellow leftists call Jews, not just "Zionists", inhuman, bloodthirsty, real-life monsters, scum, vermin, pollutants; capitalist pigs and agents of genocide; a fake people with a fake identity and a fake claim to safety and dignity. And pointing this out will net you with a number of other responses, questions of whether you support the actions of the Israeli government, as if the point of the discussion was ever about that and not about the antisemitism being lobbed at you in broad daylight. Talks of antisemitism are always shafted into talks about Israel regardless of where in the diaspora you happen to be. Those of us who are staunch leftists, who want nothing but peace and solidarity with Arabs and Muslimsâwhich is a majority of Jewsâare pressured into remaining silent about our worsening mental health and safety for the sake of the cause. Weâre told to speak later, when the most important voices have spoken first: every ethnic, gender, and sexuality minority first, then maybe the Jews. It was only recently that I realized this mythical âlaterâ will never come.
Largely, Jews just want peace. Jews want safety. Jews want recognition of our suffering, regardless of the actions of a government that might not even be ours, depending on who youâre talking toâbut Israeli Jews deserve these things as well. There is nothing wrong with criticizing the Israeli government, but when will goyische leftists realize that Israelâs government, like all governments, is not a true representation of its people? When will goyim realize that itâs not okay to dehumanize Jews, no matter what their political opinion is? When will they finally wake up embarrassed by their own behavior, realizing that my Jewish peers, my cousins, my extended family, my communityâall of us are just people who are entitled to the same respect and empathy as any ethnic group in the world? Will they ever learn to recognize their own bigotry? Will they ever see the world from a pair of Jewish eyes?
The answer is, for all intents and purposes, no. But I donât want to stop trying just because it feels hopeless.
If you are a leftist goy and youâre still reading this, I would like to ask of you only one thing: stop talking and start listening. If you donât know anything about Jewish history, donât talk about it. If you know less than four Jewish people, and you keep them at an armâs length in case they turn out to be âevil baby-killersâ, then you shouldnât mention your Jewish friends. If you believe only Sephardi and Mizrahi Jews count as âreal Jewsâ, you shouldnât be weighing in on which Jews count as white. If you couldnât name any Jewish holiday besides Chanukah, you shouldnât bother to call yourself educated on my people and our traditions. If you believe that the Jewish people, alone among all peoples, deserve to be oppressed for the crimes of a vocal few, then frankly you should not consider yourself a human rights activist at all.
If you are a Jew, all I have to say to you is that Iâm sorry. Iâm sorry that itâs taken me so long to speak up on your behalf; on behalf of all of us. Iâm so sorry that everyone is acting like this is fine. Iâm sorry that our lives have been shrinking ever-smaller as weâve been made unsafe in queer spaces, disabled spaces, online communities and real-life ones, spaces that should belong to everyone. I wish I could fix your pain. I hope youâll accept my attempt to chip away at it.
This is not the first time a Jew has come forward to speak about this, but I hope that adding my voice to the conversation will help at least one more person realize that what has happened to us is wrong. There is no world in which the collective punishment of an entire ethnic group is justified. No matter what Israel has done, no matter what tragedies and injustices have been inflicted on Palestinians by the IDF, there is no world in which this mass-scale vilification of Jews can be called real justice. There is no world in which these means justify the ends. And what ends do you even want to this? For all Israelis to blow up and die? For all Jews to stop practicing our faith? Or do you want the long-proposed answer to the Jewish questionâthe total annihilation of all Jews from the planet Earth?
Of course not. But if you donât make an effort to educate yourself on antisemitism, then the answer to that question will make itself known in your mind, and in your heart, before you even know it. There is no genetic difference between you and a Nazi.

One thing I like about Top Gun (1986) is how believable the development with Ice and Mav's dynamic is.
I've seen a lot of the "Rivals suddenly become buddies after traumatic event together" in media, but I don't think I've seen it done better than in Top Gun. Mostly, I attribute it to how much build up it has.
Most of the time, the 'Rivals' hate each others guts throughout the entire movie/series and then they go through an extremely traumatic event that binds them for life and shifts their entire concept of each other. Ice and Mav never once changed how they saw each other, it just changed their understanding of it.
Ice saw Maverick as dangerous and Mav saw Iceman as stuck-up and commanding. And they weren't wrong, by any means.
From the beginning, they have tension between them because of how different they are. And it ends up in the audience seeing Ice as the 'Antagonist' because that's how Mav sees it, and we're seeing it from his perspective as the protagonist. But Ice was never inherently wrong, in fact he was right.
Other than his first scene, Iceman always has a point in what he's saying. He's criticizing Mav, not insulting him. Sure, he does it in a brash way because masculinity, but he's not trying to insult him, he's trying to knock him down a peg and wake him up to reality. All Ice wants is that he starts to act as a team player, start caring about everybody's safety AND his own, rather than being reckless for the sake of being reckless. But Mav sees it as an insult because he can't process criticism in a healthy way (due to how he grew up). The same thing happened with Charlie, for the record.
And so the strife between the two begins. What I like about it is how it bleeds out of them over time, becoming more settled as the movie goes on. In the locker room "You're dangerous" scene, the tension is palpable. It's obvious they're agitated by each other, and feel the need to prove they're the correct one.
If you pay attention, this whole... demand for superiority goes away as time progresses. They're fine with each other's presence, it's not like they're constantly at each others throat all the time. In the shower scene, Ice dropped all of the aggression and competitiveness from his tone and is instead just laying out what he thinks. He's not undermining Maverick, he's not lecturing him like a child. Iceman is just telling Maverick exactly how he sees the situation in hopes that it would make him realize what the fuck he's doing, but with little hope that it'll actually work.
That doesn't mean Ice is always correct either, he doesn't understand why Mav acts the way he does, thus fails to take into consideration the emotional trauma behind it. Which only causes even more strife.
The entire time, Iceman isn't being a dick for the sake of it, he just wants Mav to stop being stupid (by his standards). And Maverick doesn't understand it because all he gets from what Ice says is insults.
Maverick isn't good at understanding what people mean to say if it's implied, you need to say it to his face. This is the reason he stayed quiet in the shower scene, because Ice finally laid everything out in simple words that he can understand without making it sound like a dick-measuring contest.
Thing is, the tension mellows out. At the beginning, you could see the tension and cut it with a knife. By the middle you can see them getting used to each other without jumping to constantly trade jabs (namely: the volleyball scene, it's just a bunch of guys being dudes, and the scene where Charlie says that Mav flew recklessly in front of the whole class, Ice doesn't comment on it in any way). Over time, they've settled down into their tension without needing to address it all the time.
Then Goose dies.
And the tension between them is still there.
Just because Goose isn't there anymore, doesn't mean their whole dynamic vanishes all of a sudden. You can see their hesitation towards each other (especially Ice), and that's great! It demonstrates that Goose dying doesn't magically resolve their problems with each other in solidarity.
Ice tried to give his consolations to Mav, and is awfully awkward about it. You can see on his face that he wants to say more, but doesn't because he knows it's not his place given their history. And not much is said, but a lot it communicated. (Val Kilmer is a killer actor for this, OH MY FUCKING GOD BLESS THAT MAN)
Even in the graduation scene you can see how out of their depts they really are with each other. A stilted congratulations, that was it. But they're trying, and that's what matters.
A scene I think gets overlooked a lot is the scene right before the Layton, where Ice expressed his worries about Mav to Stinger, and Mav heard him. Because I feel like that was a shift that was more drastic than the Layton itself for them.
What Ice was doing in that scene wasn't doubting Maverick's flying abilities, it was his mental health. Sure, he passed the psych eval, but that means next to jack shit when in a real combat situation so close after his backseater dying. And Ice might be worried that he's gonna be left hanging, but with the way he was speaking I'm more inclined to believe he was more worried about Maverick's wellbeing than himself. Ice almost looked resigned. He knew it was gonna get dismissed because that's the military for you, but he still wanted to try to vouch for Mav to stay groundside, if only to keep his mind at bay.
But Maverick heard him, and as usual, he read it as an insult. He wasn't wrong to assume Ice didn't believe him capable of flying the mission, which wouldn't be a lie, but failed to realize that he had more than one reason to want Maverick on the ground rather than in the air. And for the first time, Maverick believes him.
Up until this point, Mav dismissed all of Ice's so called 'insults' because he was certain in and of himself. But now he isn't anymore.
And it affects his performance in the air. I'm not saying he was as shitty as he was at the start of that combat because of what he overheard, but I am saying that it certainly didn't help matters in the slightest.
So their weird 'stepping-on-eggshells' situation is all over the place by that point. Because they started to care about each other despite not being what one would call proper friends yet. It's establishing a potential friendship by implying that 1. Ice cares about Mav's wellbeing and 2. Mav cares about what Ice thinks.
On the ground, they have the wingman exchange, and their suddenly buddy buddy. Thing is, it wasn't sudden at all.
They've been setting this up the entire fucking movie.
Going back to what I said at the beginning: Ice thinks Mav is dangerous and Mav thinks Ice is stuck-up and controlling. After the Layton, they still think those things because they weren't wrong to begin with. What changed was that instead of seeing it as something that pitted them against each other, it was seen as something that simply was about the other, and that there was no changing it. It could be good.
Mav being dangerous could be good and Ice being stuck-up and controlling could be good, because those were just traits of who they were. By the end of the movie they didn't change how they saw each other, just how they interpreted each other.
And it was built up during the entire fucking movie.
There was a reason to why they acted the way they did with each other because of the stilted interpretation they had of each other. From rivalry to friendship (and perhaps more later down the line), it's glaringly obvious throughout that it wasn't a sudden shift, it was exponential.
That's why I think it was so well developed, because you could see it coming.

Hello folks! I'm back with good news!
First off, let me get the development update out of the way. These past months writing has been difficult due to health issues regarding my hands, but I've still managed to get some work done and make progress on the demo. The updates have been Patreon/Kofi exclusive so far (since they have early access perks) and I've been waiting for content to build up for a public release. Now, I finally bring you something to sink your teeth in!
I also wanted to let you know that I've read the feedback you left me and I've taken it all into consideration. I have made plans for changes, some major, some minor, but I've yet to implement them. Here's a list of the future changes:
I've received feedback that chapter 4 feels slow, overly-descriptive and filled with scenes of tasks and chores; looking back on it, I do admit I've gone overboard with these things. I'll be cutting down on superfluous bits, altogether removing some scenes or changing them into something more interesting and relevant.
Also regarding chapter 4, as well as 5: I've...info-dumped quite a lot, and it slows the pace. I'll be going over the game and try to spread out information better, or withhold it till later.
Guinevere will be introduced earlier, in chapter 3. Really excited about this change :)
Instead of having one main trait for Mordred's dragon friend to choose from in chapter 2, the option will be between four archtypes. These will allow me to better flesh out the character (I've found the current system restrictive and one-note). I'll elaborate more on these new choices when they're added (which I've started to work on) but know that they incorporate the existent personality traits. This change will also come with not just edited, but entirely new scenes featuring the draconic companion.
Adding an alternative route to showing Elaine around in chapter 5, so Mordreds not interested in her can still do something fun
Alright, now let's talk demo update!
What's new?
More of chapter 5 (it's a big one)
Greet the wedding guests. Reunite with Nimue and catch up, meet Merlin for the first time
Talk to, insult, or ignore Galahad
Get on the dancefloor! (with a RO or friend of choice!)
Edits made: some bits of Nimue's conversation in chapter 1 have been reworked and a new dialogue option has been added, a couple of edits done to Morgana's first POV in chapter 3

Well Enough Alone: Baby Blurb #3
Not all fics have adult content, but this blog is 18+. Andrew "Pope" Cody x f!Reader (nicknamed Hawk) Animal Kingdom Masterlist Pope x Hawk Playlist Well Enough Alone Baby AU Masterlist
General Synopsis: Hawk and J discuss turning his room into the nursery Word Count: 1.2k Content Warning: no warnings AN: this one is a little longer than the others. we get a further look into J and Hawk's dynamic. please comment & reblog :)
Once Hawk and Pope made it through that first trimester, Hawk had to have the slightly uncomfortable conversation with J about converting his room into a nursery. He hadnât stayed with Hawk in over a year, and had his own place at this point, so she didnât think it was going to be a big deal, but those hormones were working overtime.Â
Hawk had been in hiding from the rest of the family, more or less, and they still hadnât told anyone -other than Jane (obviously).Â
So when Hawk opens the front door and J sees the bump for the first time without any kind of head's up?Â
He felt faint.Â
Lightheaded.Â
Nauseous.Â
His mouth was dry and his heart pounded in his chest.Â
His ears rang and he swore he could taste metal.Â
âHawk.â He says, eyes still zeroed in on her stomach.Â
âMhm,â Hawkâs hand comes to rest on the curve of her stomach.Â
âIs that-â
â-Yup,â Hawk pulled the door open, âcome in before you pass out. We gotta talk about a few things.âÂ
He took it better than she expected, but J still had his reservations about Pope and now Hawk was officially tied to this family and it made J sick to his stomach.Â
While Hawk yapped about seeing if there was anything he wanted to save from his old room, his mind was elsewhere as he watched her. Hawkâs skin was glowing and she looked happy, happier than he had seen her previously. He stared blankly at her when he noticed she was staring at him, waiting for an answer.Â
âHuh?â He asked dumbly.Â
âI asked if you were okay with this? This is still your room and I donât want you to feel like Iâm pushing you out for the baby, you know? If you still want to keep it, we can figure something else out. There are other areas we can convert.â Hawk always thought of him, even now as she was prepping for a baby she still kept him in her orbit of consideration.Â
âItâs your house, Hawk. I think this room stopped being mine a while ago.â He said it as a way of moving on, but it still hit Hawk like a sack full of bricks. J noticed Hawkâs eyes watering as she quickly turned away so he wouldnât see.Â
âShit, Iâm sorry, Hawk. It wasnât meant in a bad way. I just meant that itâs been over a year since Iâve stayed here and youâve grown your own family here with Pope and Lena while Iâve done my own thing out there, you know? I think the baby taking over the room is a good thing. It served its purpose with me and now someone else will get to experience what I did -the good parts.â He tried to explain rapidly, but Hawk just waved him off.
âItâs the hormones, J. Everything makes me cry, but that was actually a beautifully grown up thing for you to say.â Hawk sniffed, rubbing under her eyes. âI saw two bumblebees bouncing together on a flower in the yard yesterday and I lost it for over an hour, so anything sets me off these days.âÂ
âThat actually sounds kind of cute.â He played along with a teasing grin -the same grin he used to send her when heâd drink straight from the orange juice carton just to piss her off. God, how the time flew.Â
âDonât patronize me, kid. Iâm a lethal weapon right now.â Hawk warned, laughing through her tears.Â
âDuly noted. SoâŚyou know what you're having yet?â J asked with a soft grin as he eased further into the idea of Hawk having a baby. His brain left the âwith Popeâ part out, just to soften the blow, but it was progress. Hawks hand returned to her belly, rubbing it gently. J picked up the empty box that Hawk had on his bed and started to put some of his old keepsakes in it to put in Hawkâs garage for safekeeping. Everything else would either get donated or repurposed through the house.Â
âWeâre finding out next week.â Hawk said softly, watching J move around the room. The babbling two year old toddler she brought into this house, who walked those same steps through that same room, was now a man making his own way in life and here she was, sixteen years later, restarting her own journey all over again.Â
The tears returned, but this time it wasnât because of the hormones. Sure, they played a small part, but the memories that played through her mind in tandem with J in the present was a lot. So much had happened since he was a baby, since she bought this house when it was just the two of them, and Julia, for so long. Hawk never would've imagined that this is where she'd end up in the grand scheme of things.Â
âWhat do you think it is?â Jâs question broke Hawk from her thoughts. She cleared her throat and brought her attention to him.Â
âFirstly, Iâm hoping itâs human. Popeâs dad was a one-eyed dolphin, so who knows.â She cracked, making J bark out a laugh. âIn all seriousness though, Iâm leaning towards a boy. Popeâs convinced itâs a girl though.â He nodded. âEither way, Iâll be happy.â
âThisâll be a piece of cake for you. Youâre good at this, you know? Iâve never outright told you, but Iâm grateful my mom had you in her life. You took care of us, her, when no one else did, and you didnât have to, but thatâs who you are. Youâve got the heart for this. Now you get to do it because you want to, and while I may not be the first choice of a babysitter, Iâm here for whatever you guys need, alright? If Pope needs a hand painting or anything to get it ready, just give me a call.â
âYouâre gonna make me cry again, J.âÂ
âTo be fair, I donât think youâve stopped crying since I got here.â Hawk smacked Jâs shoulder as he laughed and it felt so close to how things used to be before Julia died. Their connection was still there, though frayed as it may be. They still loved each other, through and through.Â
âYou told anyone else yet?â Hawk shook her head, too choked up to answer. âSmurfâs been asking about you. She might come sniffing around sooner or later. My moneyâs on sooner. She's gonna flip when she sees you.â Â
âYeahâŚâ Hawk sighed, âMy pregnancy has been relatively stress-free up until this point and Iâd like to keep it that way, so keep this between us until weâre ready, please?â J set the box down on his old dresser and came up to Hawk, who instantly pulled him into a hug.Â
âOf course. And Iâm happy for you, Hawk. Really. I already know youâre a great mom.â Hawk squeezed him tighter.Â
âThat means the world to me, J.â J let her go after a few moments and moved over to the dresser to pick up the box so he could take it to the garage.Â
âYou know Nicky is going to lose her mind when she finds out, right?â Sweet, good-intentioned Nicky. Hawk could already see the baby shower she dreaded looming in the distance.Â
I'm not crying, you're crying (Hawk's crying).

Hi DD! I'm about mid-way through the most complex writing project I've ever done (several stories with some red thread storylines progressing in the background, so a sort of interwoven structure). I have an outline of the major plot beats, but the problem is, I've gotten about 2/3 of the way through, and this is where I've started to have trouble bringing my many threads together. The further I go, the the harder keeping it all clear and elegant becomes. Any advice for working at this stage?
It may seem counterintuitive, but once I'd found myself in a situation like this, I would immediately start working backwards.
It's difficult to describe what I mean here except semi-graphicallyâsort of in terms of one of those strings-pinned-to-the-wall diagrams so familiar to a lot of us from the various evidence-wall memes.
If we're imagining your present as-yet-unconnected threads as more or less progressing left to right, I would "stick pins in them" at their current furthest range and then move straight out to the far right side of the diagram.
For each thread I would then get busy establishing a detailed "end state" for the work: meaning a sense of what you want each of those through-line of plot to look like when you're done in terms of characters, situations, etc. I'd make very sure that all the major through-lines were covered, and (in passing) take a long look at how they'll stand in relationship to one another when all the action's finished.
Then I would start working back along each line toward the center of the matrixâlooking to see what the next-to-last thing was that needed to happen to produce the final result on a given through-line. And then the third-to-last. ...And so forth.
I would try to work through the whole set of through-lines for each given step or stage before progressing any further backwardsâunless, of course, some leap of logic occurs that makes an obvious connection between two different through-lines, or an earlier stage in the same TL that hadn't been obvious before.
(Is this making sense? God, I hope so.)
My experience with this kind of situation in the past is that it doesn't take too long before, on one or two of the lines you're constructing backwards, you'll hit something fairly major that somehow hadn't come up for consideration previously, or had simply slipped or fallen off the structural "radar" because so much other stuff had been going on around it. That event or piece of data, once perceived, will very often either immediately connect itself back to one or more of the "pinned" through-lines, or promote one of the other incomplete ones into growing connections to other adjacent lines of plot material. It's a little like watching neural tissue developing alternate pathways for itself after an injury.
...Anyway, give this approach a shot and see how it works for you. There are times when simply the act of reversing direction on the plot build will shake something loose in the business surrounding the building-it-forward part. It's worth a try to see what happens.
Hope this helps!

Chapter I
Pairing(s): Melissa Schemmenti x Fem!Reader
Series: Schemmenti Family Agenda
Synopsis: After a student makes a comment to Y/n, Melissa takes into consideration what the next steps in your relationship should be.
Themes/Warnings: Fluff, Angst (please let me know if there are any warnings to be aware of)
A/N: I first wrote this part in an early morning surge of energy. I've already started on part two, so be on the lookout for that. I've also started an outline for an Agatha Harkness/Agnes x Fem!Reader w/ "magic baby" trope.
WC: ~ 2.15k
Having kids wasnât something you thought to ever be on the agenda. It never was with you and Melissa. Both you and her being elementary teachers for Abbott, the only kids you two ever talked about âhavingâ were your students. It has been a nice flow between you professionally. You being the other first grade teacher in the school, a good amount of kids in your class progress to your wifeâs classroom in their following school year. These handful of kids are called by the other teachers as the âDouble Schemmentiâ kids, which you and Melissa find endearing.
These little aspects of your life at Abbott make being a teacher for these kids the best job anyone could ask for. Not to mention having the role of being these kidsâ mentor, even sometimes their parent, is a gift in itself. So, whenever babies were a thought, it was more of a subtle whisper, rather than a thought-provoking idea.
That is until Melissa walks into your classroom after school one day to find you with one of your students playing with the deck of cards she so graciously lent for the room.Â
âHey, honey,â she smiles, making her way inside.
âMrs. Schemmenti!â Aspen squeals. âMrs. Schemmenti is teaching me how to play Kings in the Corner. It helps with my counting.â
âThatâs great, sweetheart.â The redhead looks over at his hand and smiles. âMaybe next year youâll be able to get a good grasp on poker so that you can beat all the chumps at the table.â
Aspen gives her a quizzical look. You, a furrow of the eyebrows, telling her to test the waters. She mouths a âsorryâ along with a low smile. Bringing her attention to your cards, she chuckles. âI donât know, Mrs. Schemmenti. I think the kidâs hand is just enough to rattle you outta luck.â
Aspenâs smile turns to a little dance in place, in anticipation for his next move.Â
You bring yourself to feign a sigh. âI think you might be right. I just canât believe Aspen is so good already, and itâs his first time playing.â
Melissa shuffles back next to Aspen, who glances at her before she nods. âTake her down, kid.â
He rushes for a card before calculating his line of moves to play. With what seems to be one swift motion, his cards disappear from his hand and onto the floor with the others. âI got ya, Mrs. Schemmenti! Victory is mine!â
You giggle along with him. âYou got me!â You and Melissa dance with him, doing your own little dances in place. Once heâs seemed to settle down from his victory dance, you help him pick up the cards.
âWhy donât you practice your shuffling while I talk with Mrs. Schemmenti?â
He nods. âOkay. Iâll go sit at my desk.â
âOkay.â
âHeâs a quick little guy, isnât he?â
âYeah, he is. Smartest kid in the class. Maybe the smartest Iâve ever taught.â You peek at him, seeing if heâs focused on the cards in his hand, which he is. âHis mom is working a little late today. The divorce hasnât been easy for either of them, so I told her that I can stay with Aspen a little later than the allotted time for pickup.â
Melissa sighs. âDonât I know it. Divorce is tough. I canât imagine the added stress of having a child during the process.â
You quickly take a look at your watch. âYou donât have to wait up for me. Janine and Ava have step practice today, and Iâm sure I can catch a ride with one of them if you want to go home. I know you have grading to get done.â
âI can wait here with you and the little guy. Grading can wait a little longer, and besides, I donât want you catching a ride with either of âem as long as Iâm here. I couldnât live with myself if I knew Iâd been responsible for another Janine car ride migraine.â Her lips perk up into a smile.
"I swear if I hear another lecture on the benefits of different colored highlighters, Iâllâ"
âMom!â Aspen squeals, getting out of his seat and running to his motherâs arms. She lays a soft kiss on his head.
âHi, Aspen. How was school?â Dinaâs eyes turn from his to yours. âWas he okay?â
You nod. âThe little champ beat me in Kings in the Corner.â
âAnd I know how to shuffle now. So now I can help you when we play Uno.â
âGreat job, honey. And Iâm sure now you can help me beat Grandpa when he comes to visit next week.â
Aspen seemingly lights up brighter than before. âGrandpaâs coming? Yay!â He envelops her in a hug.
âHoney, why donât you grab your things so I can talk to your mom?â Your eyes quickly glance at his belongings that sit on and around his desk.Â
âIâll give you two a minute.â Melissa moves towards Aspen. âIâll help him get his things.â
âThank you for everything. Really, youâre a lifesaver.â Dina lets a sigh leave her lips. âHeâs really been doing great through this whole thing.â
âNo disruptions, no problems. I wish I had his positive attitude all the time. And hey, donât worry about it. I donât mind getting beat at cards. Heâs a smart kid.â
Dina smiles.
âIâm ready,â Aspen says. He walks up to meet his motherâs side, where she places a hand on his shoulder. âMrs. Schemmenti?â
âYes sweetheart?â
âYouâre gonna make a great mom one day,â his smile widens before he says his goodbyes to you and Melissa. âIâll see you tomorrow.â
âOkay, kid. Weâll see ya,â Melissa adds. She turns to you. âReady to go?â
âMhm,â you grab your bagâs handle, but itâs quickly taken away from you when the older woman grabs it. âMelissa, I can carry my stuff.â
âI never said you couldnât.â She smiles as you grab hold of her arm.
Walking out of Abbott, you both send smiles and your own goodbyes to a few colleagues. Your hand never strays from her arm, and she wouldnât have it any other way.
âSo what are you feeling like for dinner?â She asks.
âAre you asking because you feel like cooking, or are you asking me because you want to just order takeout?â
She chuckles. âI was actually asking because I could go for anything you wanted to cook.â
âEnchiladas, then.â
âWell, theyâre your signature.â She places a kiss on your temple.
When you reach the car, she walks with you to the passengerâs side, opening the door for you. âMy lady,â she smiles watching you take your seat. She hands you your bag, and closes the door.
You reach over to the door and pull the door handle for her. âThank you, sweetie.â
âAnything for my girl,â you say. Her hand instinctively rests on your thigh as she starts the drive to your shared home. You move a hand to graze her arm.
âSo,â Melissa starts up a new conversation when you hit upon a red light. âAspen gave you a really nice compliment there, huh?â
âWhat?â You take a moment to think back. âOh⌠yeah, heâs a really sweet kid. I hope you get to teach him next year. I mean he already loves you.â
Melissa turns the music up a bit, as your favorite song plays. While youâre jamming, she hums along, singing the words in her head. Unbeknownst to you, Melissa is thinking harder than sheâd care to admit to about Aspenâs words. Had you given any thought to having a child of your own? She hasnât expressed any interest in having a mini Melissa since she was younger, when her sister had her first baby.
As if the memory played out word for word, she remembers how crushed she was when, while holding her then baby nephew, Joe completely shut down the idea of growing their family.Â
As if you know she needs a distraction of sorts, you speak up, taking her out of her thoughts. âOh, honey, I think we need to stop at the grocery store. Is that okay with you?â
She nods and forces a smile for you.
â â â â
Melissaâs hand never leaves the small of your back while you push the cart. Along the journey of getting the ingredients necessary for your dinner, she looks around every aisle that you walk through. Almost finished with the aisle you two are currently in, you start your way towards the registers. As you wait in one of the lines, Melissa picks up bits of the coupleâs conversation happening in front of her, talking about their excitement in welcoming their own bundle of joy in seven months.Â
âMelissa?â
âHm,â she turns her attention towards you.
âIs everything okay? Youâve been almost quiet since we left school. The only times I ever experience quiet Melissa is when youâre scheming. Well, that or youâre planning someoneâs meeting with justice.â
âIâm fine, hon.â She places her hands on either side of your waist, and places a few light kisses on your temple. âIâm perfect.â
â â â â
âAmore,â she starts.
âHm,â you hum, sipping your wine.
âNothinâ.â
âBaby,â you reach your hand and place it gently on her own. âWhatâs up?â
She has a glint in her eyes. One youâve only seen two other times â when she was too nervous to ask you to be her girlfriend, and then again when she asked you to be her wife. By this, you know she has got something big on her mind.
âDonât worry about it,â she says, her voice not leaving a low tone. She focuses her attention on her plate, trying to collect her thoughts.
âOkayâŚâ you start. âBut I will. You have the look.â
âWhat look?â Her eyes bounce to you, now wide, awaiting your response.
âYouâve only ever looked at me twice like that before, and both times they were because you had something big to get off your chest. Now pleaseâŚâ You place your hand on her thigh. âWhat is it, Melissa?â
âYou ever thought about maybe⌠I donât know⌠itâs just us here. And sometimes I feel it. The⌠space.â
You stay silent, trying to piece together what sheâs going on about. Was she getting sick of you? Was this marriage too much for her? She doesnât skip a beat though. Her rambling is starting to sound like she is convincing herself of something, in hopes youâll say whatâs bothering her, so she doesnât have to. Thatâs when in the midst of your spacing out, there is only one sentence that makes you freeze.
âMaybe an addition to us wouldnât be a bad idea.â
âYou want to have a baby,â she canât tell by your tone if you were stating it as if it were a fact, or rather forming it in a question. âLike⌠a baby.â
âNo, wait, I didnât say that,â her voice rises in pitch. âPer say.â
You wait a minute, in case she has more to say. âOkayâŚâ
Crap! May day! May day! Retreat! Her thoughts tell her.
She downs the beer that is left in her bottle. Her hands grab for your plates and starts her way to the kitchen. âJust forget I said anything.â
âBut, Melissaââ
âPlease, just forget it, Y/n.â
â â â â
After dinner, you and Melissa snuggle up on the couch. Your face is nestled in her neck, giving soft kisses where you know she loves them. This would usually lead to you ravaging each other until the sunrise spills through your curtains. Tonight, however, doesnât look like that is in the cards for you.
Your hand begins drawing patterns on her thigh, as you continue your kisses on her skin. âYour thoughts are loud tonight, my love.â
âHon,â Melissa whispers, her voice almost impossible to hear over the television. As if on cue, the Dancing With the Stars theme sings for you. âLook, the show is starting.â
The rest of the night is much quieter than usual. Adding to your worry, Melissa doesnât seem as enthusiastic about the episode as she usually is. Thereâs no yelling at the television, rarely a chuckle, and not even a snack to go with the episode.
As the episode ends, Melissa breathes a heavy sigh. âReady for bed?â
You take a look at your phone which reads the time. âYeah,â you say with simple directions. âJust⌠give me a minute and Iâll be up.â
She nods as she rises off the couch. She makes sure to place a gentle kiss on your cheek before heading upstairs.
At the sound of Melissa ascending the stairs, you quickly grab your phone. Opening your Contacts app, Barbara Howardâs phone number is already in view for you. With a second to think on a decision, a sigh leaves your lips, and the clicking of the power button shuts the device off.
Sleep on it. Whatever it is.

(I think this is the right way to do this? We'll see)
I was hoping you could do Sebastian and/or Elliott with a pregnant farmer? Dealers choice between headcannons or oneshots!
Thank you! đ
elliott and sebastian with their first child || headcanons
the boys are finally parents! how are they going to handle this new challenge?
warnings: anything pregnancy related, female bodied farmer with gender neutral pronouns, referred to as mother.
requested by: @merrymagpiesmess , hiya, thank you for requesting! sorry it took so long to get around to it, but i deeply appreciate it! this was fun to write, thank you so much!! :) [also, consider this a part 2 to the alex one :) ]
elliott
⢠Elliott pictured a very romantic, idealized life for himself. He wanted the cozy house, the loving spouse, and the two beautiful kids. Yes, to many it may seem unrealistic, but Elliott adored the thought. He understands that it may not be in the cards, but he's certainly manifesting! Right now, he has the life that he's dreamed of. He would love to have children with you!
⢠When he first found out you were pregnant, Elliott was ecstatic! He was so in love with you, and he was so excited to go through the beautiful progress of pregnancy. Bringing a human into this world was so beautiful to him, as most things in life were. He was so excited to be doing something so monumental with you.
⢠Elliott wrote a lot about you, your pregnancy, and your future child. Late night journaling sessions had many thoughts about you, you were all that flooded through his mind despite being married for so long. You were forever his muse, especially now. He wrote piles and piles of poetry about your pregnant glow and the child that you were carrying. He was so excited, and he couldn't believe how beautiful you were.
⢠Constantly showering you with affection, Elliott was very considerate of you during the pregnancy. Late night runs to Joja Mart were frequent, getting whatever you needed at the drop of a hat. You were so busy, even while pregnant! It was admirable in his eyes, and he wanted to shower you with as much affection as he could.
⢠As the time came to deliver the baby, Elliott was by your side the entire way to the hospital. He fulfilled your every request, showering you with words of encouragement and soft kisses on your forehead for comfort. He was worried, of course he was, a child was coming out of you. But, he knew in his heart, that everything would go perfectly.
⢠When everything was said and done, Elliott was incredibly excited. He was calm, making sure to hold you and let you have a moment to breathe. You meant everything to him, and you made sure to ask if you were okay. Yes, the baby had just been born, but he needed to take care of his spouse first and foremost. After knowing you were okay, he then started to discuss the baby. He was so excited to hold his newborn, he was already teary eyed.
⢠âHello, my love ... goodness, you are so beautiful. You have the eyes of your mother, and the nose of your father. I ... for the first time in my life, I have been rendered speechless. You ... are going to be something special. You are the most special sum of atoms that have ever come to be. My dear, I hope that I shall give you the joy that your mere presence has given me.â
sebastian
⢠Sebastian never really thought about kids until you came into the picture. He didn't think he'd make a really good dad, as he really didn't have a good idea of what a father really is. His dad isn't around, and his stepdad is not the best to him. He never really thought that he could be a dad, but he wasn't against it. He just hadn't put too much thought into the subject.
⢠When he first found out that you were pregnant, Sebastian was shocked to say the least. He didn't really expect it, but he didn't show it. He gave you a smile and a kiss, happy despite the uncertainty. He didn't want you to worry, as you were the one actually carrying the child, and it would be much harder on you. So, he pushed his anxiety away until later. He showed his love and support for you right away.
⢠Late nights caught up to Sebastian. He sat in the realization that he really didn't know how to be a father. He didn't want to be like Demetrius: incredibly demeaning and awful toward him. But, on the other hand, he didn't want to be like his father: a deadbeat. So, he was stuck between worlds, freaking out over what may be the right thing. He spent many sleepless nights on parenting websites, or asking reddit what to do. He was stressed, to say the very least.
⢠During the pregnancy, Sebastian was very attentive to you. He would keep you company if you were ever suffering from pain, giving your belly soft kisses and holding your hand. He was stressed, and he didn't admit that to you until after the pregnancy was done. You did notice he was a bit more on edge than usual, so you tried to reassure him when you could. But, at nights, he was still trying to come up with a game plan.
⢠Soon, the baby was coming. Sebastian was freaking out inside, but managed to stay semi-calm on the outside. Not enough for you to notice, at least. However, you were going into labor, so you probably weren't paying much attention. He was by your side, holding your hand and saying a few reassuring phrases. They were for both of you, but it definitely calmed your nerves. He hoped everything would be okay in the end.
⢠After everything, Sebastian was drained but ... more than anything, he was happy. A smile landed on his face, holding your hand as you two waited for your baby to be brought to you. He kissed your knuckles, his nerves seeming to disappear. Being a father was going to be okay, because your child had the most wonderful mother. So, when Sebastian held his child for the first time, he was trying his hardest not to cry.
⢠âOh, wow ... you're a little human, in my hands, and real ... I ... didn't realize how real this moment would feel. I'm a father, and you're my little baby ... you're just a little guy, aren't you? Hehe ... you're such a cutie. I think we're gonna be okay, you think? I think so ... and I was so scared. Why was I so scared? You're really just a bundle of joy.â

âđ Ë ŕŁŞ đđ đđđđđ đđđđđđ, written by cup1dluvhs
âđ Ë ŕŁŞ đđ during a tiring day at the office, you decide to fall asleep in hope of getting rid of the boredom. however, jim wakes you up at the end of the day and you realise roy has forgot to pick you up. again.
| tension, angry jim, fluff
| taking requests
you sat your desk, bored out of your mind as you hopelessly skimmed through the fashion magazines from your drawer, and you were surprised to realise you were getting bored of them.
after david wallace had made the announcement that average sales between each salesman and woman had to be upped by at least 7%, everyone had to stay late over the week, including you, considering you were responsible for transferring all of their calls and updating their quotas each time they got a sale to assure corporate they were making progress.
you hadnât got a call in over twenty minutes, and you found the lack of anything to do was killing you.
youâd usually go straight to jimâs desk, your best friend, to relieve that boredom, but he looked as focused as ever while on the phone with a client, his hand frantically taking notes.
you applied a fresh coat of your lip gloss with a sigh, adjusting the tight pink-striped shirt you wore as you leaned into your desk and let your head fall down on top of the keyboard.
you shot up quickly at the sound of the phone ringing, rubbing your eyes vigorously as you picked it up, saying a painfully unenthusiastic âdunder mifflin, this is y/n.â before you were met with a laugh on the other end of the phone.
âwow, that sounded awful. were you sleeping on the job, l/n? not very professional.â a familiar voice teased on the other end, the sound instantly putting a smile on your face.
âshut up. this is such bullshit that i have to stay here, i have things i need to do on a friday evening!â you snapped at jim, as if he was the reason you had to stay late before the weekend.
âoh yeah? like what, upload to your blog-thingy and read more magazines?â jim said, his accuracy of what you had planned actually taking you aback. but, you didnât want to give him the satisfaction, and you had other plans with your boyfriend roy as well.
âno actually, but good guess. royâs parents are coming to scranton tomorrow and i need to make sure the apartment looks good.â you said, furrowing your eyebrows as you heard him clear his throat on the other end of the phone, followed by an awkward silence.
âjim? are you there?â you asked him, tilting your head slightly.
âohâyeah, sorry. i have to get back to someone really quick actually, but have sweet dreams, y/n. bye.â jim said rather quickly, and the abrupt hanging up of the phone made you even more taken aback slightly in a way you didnât really understand. you ran a hand through your hair, and then over your grey pencil skirt, before shrugging it off and laying your head back down on the desk.
the next time you woke up was due to the feeling of someone or something nudging your shoulder, and you raised your head groggily to find jim standing over you with a wide grin on his face.
âhi.â you said, slumping back down again as he laughed.
âhey. everyone else left, i tried my best to extend the whole paper buying process with the last client i was on with so you could sleep longer, but he was done by the time we reached the fifteen minute mark.â jim said, his words sending a pink tint onto your cheeks, one that you hoped he wouldnât notice. you had a boyfriend, and whatever you were feeling wasnât right.
âthank you.â you said softly, getting up from you seat and adjusting your tight shirt again, the fabric having shifted slightly above your stomach enough to show skin, and this did not go unnoticed by jim. he watched as you pulled it down again, and the same with your pencil skirt that had shifted up a considerable amount as well, the action causing him to look away simply for his own good.
you had both put your coats on and made your way down to the car park, the sky now dark and the parking lot empty except for jimâs car. roy had told you he would be in the parking lot at eight, and it was now eight thirty. you instantly heaved a sigh when you realised the fact that he wasnât here would go unnoticed by jim, who was still by your side.
âis roy supposed to be picking you up? he asked, turning to you with a look of expectancy, and you found yourself looking at the floor, wanting to bury your face in the furry pink scarf you wore. you had called roy a few times before you slept to make sure he was still coming to get you, but he hadnât responded.
âmhm, iâm sure heâs coming. iâll wait.â you said, looking up at jim with a smile, hoping that that would be enough to make him nod his head and leave to save you the embarrassment.
âthis is the fifth time heâs done this, y/n.â he scoffed, his hands in his pockets as he looked away from you, which made you frown.
âiâm sure he just forgot, but heâll know to come and get me soon enough when he gets home and iâm not there. you go ahead!â you said, your teeth chattering slightly as you crossed your arms over your chest.
ây/n, iâm not gonna leave you here by yourself at eight thirty at night in -2 degree weather. come with me, okay? i can bring you home.â he said, and relief instantly washed over you. you did want jim to leave at first, but as the minutes that roy hadnât appeared ticked by, you began to grow more confident he wouldnât be coming.
you suspected he went to poor richards with daryl after work and accidentally had too much to drink.
âjim, you donât have to do that for me.â you said to jim as he grabbed your arm and led you toward his car, opening the passenger seat for you and beckoning you to climb in.
ây/n, just get in the car.â he said, looking at you with somewhat amusement as you hesitantly stepped into it, leaving jim to close the door behind you.
you gave him directions to you and royâs apartment complex, the drive being silent but somewhat comforting. you liked silence with him when it wasnât awkward, like when you sat on his desk and watched him type numbers into the phone, or how he leaned over your shoulder when you played solitaire on your computer.
when you finally arrived at the building, you opened the door and ran over to the other side of the car, waiting as he rolled down the window.
âthank you, for doing this. iâll make sure roy knows not to forget again. see you monday?â you said to him with a smile, tilting your head at him slightly.
âno problem, and i will see you monday.â jim said, tapping the steering wheel and giving you one of his signature smiles, before an intrusive thought appeared in your head.
without thinking, you bent down and kissed his cheek quickly before pulling away and giving him a quick wave before turning your back and making your way toward the apartment building, a smile on your face you couldnât prevent no matter how hard you bit your lip. now, you had roy to deal with. great.

Is it too late?
Warnings: Mentions of periods, hospitals, surgery, pain and illness
Summary: When your older brother is a fancy surgeon, being sick is the last thing you want. Â
Requested by @1chicago5021
A/N: I'm still alive people. I had a sudden burst of inspiration and thought I'd finally get all these requests done before the next round of exams. I am in a lesson right now so I canât do the usual aesthetic collage I always do. This was sent quite a while ago but I actually had so much fun writing this so thank you! I hope this lives up to your standards <3
*****
Two weeks ago now, your body randomly started not working the way you wanted it to, but you put all the blame on your period whose cramps hadn't been very forthcoming.
The painkillers were a coming in at a constant stream, hot water bottles never having the chance to go room temperature.
Your never-ending migraines and 24/7 cramps were a constant, so you expected to feel relief once you were back to normal. But that never came because this week started and somehow, you felt even worse.
When you woke up this morning to your throat feeling weird, you knew something was wrong when you drank water and the feeling didnât go away. Â
Despite that, you went to school anyways, bidding your brother goodbye when he dropped you off, completely unaware of your wellbeing. But you couldnât blame the guy, he was stressed enough over work as it is, you didnât need to add to his already overflowing workload. Â
You only felt worse as the day progressed. It was only spring, nearing summer, but your body temperature wouldnât stop fluctuating. One minute you were shivering and asking to borrow your friend's hoodie but the next you were sweating like you had just finished a marathon and was trying to get rid of as many layers as possible. Â
The cramps were immense. The worst you ever had and to consider you just got off your period, you werenât a stranger to post period cramps, but this was on another level. You hadnât been in this much pain ever even while on your reds. None of the pain killers your friends kindly provided for you alleviated the pain. Death would feel ever so sweet right about now. Â
You knew you were seriously sick when you were on the verge of collapsing at lunch. Your friends all shouted in alarm when you faltered on your feet in the cafeteria. You ignored their efforts and attempts to get you to the nurse's office. There wasnât long left of the school day, there wasnât any point in leaving with barely two hours left. Â
As soon as you got home, you fell face first into bed. As soon as your head hit the pillow and you pulled the covers over your body with however much strength remained in your arms that got heavier as the day went on. Â
You were in a deep sleep, so deep in fact that your dreams were non-existent. You werenât too sure what time it was, but you felt someone shaking you, going from gentle to a hand tightly holding your shoulder, a muffled voice inaudible as you came in and out of your slumber. Â
Their gestures were painful, but you didnât have it in you to tell the intruder as you struggled to even muster a groan. Your eyes fluttered, face digging even deeper into the pillow as if to suffocate yourself. That was all the indication the person needed to shake you harder, adamant to wake you up. Â
With a blocked nose, breathing out through your mouth proved itself to be a much more difficult task than it shouldâve been. And stuffing your face into your pillow might not have been the best idea taking that into consideration.
Their voice sounded way too far away, as though they werenât in the room with you. One second they were roughly holding you, the next, all pressure ceased but the pain didnât.
Before you could even register what they were doing now, your eyes heavy with sleep dropped once more as you were enveloped into darkness again.
*****
Over the past two weeks, Connor had noticed your depleting energy but when the mood swings came along with your hot water bottles, he didnât think any much more of the matter.
But then you showed no signs of improvements and at first, he could hardly notice. You hid it quite well at first but as the week progressed, it was apparent to him you were getting sick, and you were too stubborn to admit that to your surgeon brother.
Nonetheless, things didnât look too bad that staying home was necessary. You were managing quite well, going to school the entire week without complaints, so he found no reason to intervene into something he knew would end up in an argument that would result in you holding a grudge and not talking to him for a few days.
He dropped you off and drove to work expecting nothing. You smiled at him when you left the car, and nothing seemed physically wrong when you picked up the pace to meet your friends.
His twelve-hour shift seemed to never end. When he had a moment to himself, he messaged you as he waited for his coffee, staring at his message that sat alone with no replies for hours. School has finished, you were sure to be home now, so why werenât you answering?
He didnât think much of it till he was meant to go home at twelve. He was all ready standing at his locker but then Maggie called his name and he saw several ambulances piling up outside.
As amazing as he was, his attention couldnât be in two places at once and unfortunately for you, car crashes had more significance in this situation. But as soon as this was all over, youâd be his number one priority once more.
It was all over six hours later when he came out of the second surgery he had to take lead in.
Stepping out of the surgery theatre, he thanked all his co-workers and was dashing away to collect his things, not wanting to be here any longer. Having time to finally check his phone again, his concern skyrocketed when you still hadnât replied to his messages.
Waving off the few staff remaining in the emergency department, Connor wasted no time in driving off. His adrenaline had yet to die down from the rush of a packed-out emergency room and doing several successful surgeries. Adding to this was his building concern for you. Maybe you were just sleeping, and your phone was on charge. Maybe it was on silent, and you didnât hear anything. Maybe it was stolen, and you couldnât contact him-
Connor sighed as he parked the car. Wasting no time, his body still thrumming from the surgery high, he walked into the building and took the stairs instead, taking large strides as he skipped every two.
The house was drop dead silent when he opened the door which you hadnât locked from the inside like you usually would. That and the completely pitch-black apartment was the first things that put him on edge.
He locked the door behind him, walking in further and inspecting the living room and kitchen that didnât look lived in. Everything was in its same place as he left it in this morning. Closing the blinds in the living room, he walked towards your bedroom, your door slightly ajar which had never been the case since you started living with him. You always shouted at him whenever he left the door even a slither open, you always needed complete darkness to sleep. The tiniest bit of light always hindering your sleeping ability.
Pushing the door open, Connor poked his head inside first to survey the room. He finally let himself relax at the sight of you lying in bed, your figure completely drowning in your duvet. The weird lump in your sheets being the only reason he could identify you.
He felt himself relax, his body physically deflating now that he had eyes on you, knowing for sure that nothing was wrong.
For some reason, your curtains were still open which they never were since you were young, always complaining, once again, that you needed complete darkness to be able to sleep. Closing your curtains, he found your phone on your bedside desk, and it was littered with notifications from not only him but all of your friends too. All of them were asking in variations if you were okay, if you felt better, did you get home safe and how you were feeling.
They were all sent at three in the afternoon. It was now two in the morning.
Concerned at the topic of the messages, Connor came over to the side of the bed you were laying on and placed his hand on your forehead, his eyes widening immediately. He felt himself warming up just from how hot you were.
Sitting down on the space by your knees, Connor shook you gently, trying to rouse you from your apparent very deep sleep but the only movement you made was from what he was doing.
âY/N? Hey, wake up. Can you get up for me really quick?â
The adrenaline that was just dying down was picking up again along with his heart rate, why werenât you waking up?
He shook you once again but this time, he was more rough, his worry meaning he gripped your shoulder tightly and shook you with a force that heâd never use on you before as his baby sister.
This time he tried calling you name while he tried getting you up. Lifting the duvet off your body, not only were you shivering but you were sweating a very unusual amount.
Swallowing harshly, Connor tried one more time, calling your name and roughly shaking you. âCome one, I need to you wake up Y/N.â
âY/N. Y/N get up.â
But you just wouldnât budge.
Deciding that enough was enough, he scooped you into his arms and it mustâve been the sudden movement that caused you to let out a small whimper in what was clearly pain. It was small but it was the most heâd gotten from you since he got home and that was better than nothing.
Foregoing his jacket, Connor made sure to slip your cardigan over your torso, so you werenât going to die from the cold outside. He quickly slipped into his own shoes and left the building not a moment later.
*****
No one had been expecting Connor to be back at work so soon, not even him. It was a few minutes to three and the ED was relatively calm taking into account the big accident not too long ago, but Connor was grateful.
Getting out the car, Connor looked into the ED and called for the first person he saw.
âApril! Get me a gurney!â
Said nurse was caught completely off guard, jumping from where she stood at the nurse's desk with Will not too standing behind her. He too clearly was confused but Connor had no time to dwell on them.
Not checking if she was listening, Connor rounded the car and picked you back into his arms, your head resting on his bicep and your legs on the inside of his elbow. Slamming the door shut, Connor strode into the emergency department and luckily for him, April and Will were more than ready to help.
âAll the gurneys are used up from before, but weâve got a free bed.â April said, leading the surgeon into an empty treatment room where Will was lowering the bedside rails.
âTalk to me Connor.â Will said, understanding there was no time for formalities when he saw it was you Connor was carrying.
âNo clue what happened but sheâs as hot as anything, sheâs shivering and sweating at the same time and will not wake up for anything.â Connor started, gently laying you down and standing back to let Will and April do their jobs. He was itching to help but physically had to move further away from you so that he wouldnât do anything stupid.
âPretty sure sheâs been sick and in pain for a while now, but she never said anything.â He continued, looking at all the numbers on the machines that were popping up as they were connected to your body. âWhen I asked last week, she just kept saying it was her period cramps.â
As April hooked you up onto an IV drip, Will started palpating your body in search for any particular place of pain. And when he came to a particular area in your lower abdomen and you cried out, the three of them looked at each other knowingly.
âKieran should still be on shift.â Connor said, remembering the surgeon he left behind that was in charge and available.
Will nodded in confirmation, âLetâs move.â
*****
Waking up felt different to all the times before. Your levels of disorientation and haziness and confusion were on another level.
As soon as you opened your eyes, the first thing you noticed was the lack of pain. You couldnât feel not even a pinch in your stomach, maybe it was weird to say but it felt liberating to not be in debilitating pain.
âOh, thank goodness your awake.â Connor looked dead on his feet in the doorway of the room but the immense relief painting his face was like no other.
You made him feel and look like that- Shit, what happened, what did you do?
Before you could say anything, Connor beat you to it. âHow are you feeling? In any pain?â
As he questioned you, a poured you a cup of water, holding it so all you had to do was drink and not need to exert energy that he knew from experience, you didnât have.
Once again, before you could ask, he answered for you. âIt was appendicitis. Your period cramps were in fact your appendix and last night it burst.â
âBut itâs all good. We got you into surgery and your appendix is gone as should your pain.â
âWow.â You said shakily, your voice so quiet from the lack of use.
âPlease donât do that next time.â Connor said, sitting on the empty seat by the bed, taking your hand into his. âPlease tell me when you're in pain and when you feel sick. You matter to me; all your small or big problems are mine too. I donât care how trivial they are.â
Silence followed as he set the glass aside. âYou scared the shit out of me kiddo.â
And to say you felt guilty was an understatement.
âClaireâs pissed.â You both winced at the thought of your sister finding out. âSheâs going to visit when sheâs finished with work. I told her your healthy and out of surgery but sheâs still pissed.â
âMâSorry.â You apologised, voice hoarse and lips chapped. âI didnât want-â
âY/N.â Connors face made it look like he was in pain from your admission he cut off. âYouâre never a bother to me okay? Me being a doctor is a good thing, use it to your advantage.â
You nodded, confirming to change next time if there was another time. Fingers crossed there isnât.
âHow hard was it to not do the surgery?â You smiled, squeezing his hand and poking his bicep. He was still in his scrubs from his shift last night.
Connor rolled his eyes and groaned. Such a sight made you laugh.

It Was Never Jinx's War
**Spoilers For Arcane**
I have written quite a bit about Jinx, and touched on this topic briefly, but I felt that it deserved more than my sarcastic blurbs. Today I wanted to talk a little bit about Jinx, and her being forced into the role of a revolutionary by her people and fans alike. So what do I actually mean?
I mean to address statements like these from fans:
Jinx should have lead Zaun in a civil war!
Jinx should have ripped Caitlyn apart!
The writers are coward for making Jinx apologize to Caitlyn!
What did they do to Revolutionary Jinx?! She was meant to lead the uprising!
I'm not going to spend time going through her whole story again. I have done so many times in various forms as have many others. And I have to assume if you are on Tumblr reading some grouchy nerd's rambling about Jinx, you already know her story. So first let's discuss one question.
Does Jinx hate Piltover/The Enforcers?
OBVIOUSLY. And she has every reason to. Growing up as a Zaunite means she grew up suffering under Piltovan oppression. And the Enforcers took her parent's lives. Take Silco and his teachings totally out of the picture and Jinx still has every reason to feel how she feels. I don't deny that at all. But feeling that way is not the same as being a violent revolutionary for her own reasons and choices. So let's discuss the moments from season 1 that created this false idea that the Jinx we know was fighting for her people's freedom with what she did.
SEASON 1
As A Kid:
It probably seems silly to most of you, it certainly did to me. But I have legitimately seen the example used that Powder was making bombs and had filled one with nails for the Enforcers to justify this idea. Listen folks, she was 11. I'm not saying she didn't want to help her family or wasn't willing. But equating that with wanting to be part of a violent revolution is foolish. In fact we see that childish (not said negatively just honestly) enthusiasm without consideration of consequence play out when she tries to help save Vander.
2. The Theft:
Okay. So this is her first real act as Jinx that I have seen attributed to her being a revolutionary for Zaun fighting the system. Most of the justification for this comes down to the simple fact that she stole from Piltover and hurt Enforcers. Jinx lights a building on fire, drawing Enforcers in using a fake child's voice, then blows it up killing six Enforcers and stealing the hex-tech gemstone. What does that mean?
Stole a source of power from Piltover that gives Silco and opportunity to study hex-tech
Killed Enforcers
Okay. I can see the revolutionary point for sure. Except for one problem. Jinx didn't do any of this for Zaun. Let's roll the tape!
Our reintroduction to Powder who has now become Jinx is the fight between Silco's people and The Firelights on Progress Day. During that incident Jinx sees a firelight that resembles Vi and loses control. This leads to conflict with Sevika.
Later, Sevika and Silco are discussing what happened. Sevika is angry:
Sevika: "She's a problem and we all know it" Silco shuts her down. It is then revealed Jinx has been listening the entire time and she talks with Silco: Jinx: "one of those firelight wackos was a girl with pink hair" Silco: "todays screwup will set us back weeks" Jinx: "I'm sorry" Silco: "I need to know I can rely on you..... Sevika will clean up todays mess" Jinx: "Sevika? That ogre couldn't clean a dust bunny with a blow torch" Silco: "Take some time" Jinx: "I don't need time" Silco: "Take it anyhow"
Jinx is quite visibly upset and leaves
We rejoin Jinx later in her hideout. She is upset, convincing herself it wasn't Vi, talking to the specter of Mylo, justifying the incident that it was just her getting confused. then she says some key dialogue here:
"Now, he thinks I'm weak...I'm not weak... and I'm gonna show him. Oh, I'm gonna show him. You'll see".
And the explosion and theft are how she does so. How she proves to her adoptive father that she isn't weak. And it works! It gives her the validation she is desperate for. When he first comes in he is the most outwardly angry with her we ever see him on screen.
Until she shows him the stone:
Silco values strength above all. We see him espouse this over and over. Jinx has certainly heard it plenty although unless I'm mistaken we don't see him preaching it directly to her until later. She is worried he sees her as lacking the most important quality to him, so she goes out and proves it and now she feels accepted and safe again. Not to mention the fact that her early childhood trauma left a very real mental scar in her regarding feelings of being weak/not ready/a Jinx. I mean come on, it isn't exactly subtle that the specter we see tormenting her more prominently than any is this fucker (calling the delusion that not the dead child. Don't yell at me lol)-
She didn't do any of this for Zaun. She did it because part of her is still a little girl that's terrified if she isn't strong enough she is going to be all alone.
3. The Bridge:
Alright moving on. The next big one that gets mentioned frequently is Jinx attacking the bridge. Again, I can see the argument to a point. Killing the leader of The Enforcers and reclaiming the stone. Definite points for the "Zaunite Revolution". Except for a few things.
She is watching the bridge when Vi says goodbye to Caitlyn & Ekko. Mostly just arguing with "Mylo" about Vi.
2. She doesn't look angry until she sees the stone. The stone that symbolizes Silco's acceptance and recognition of her strength, and therefore his love.
3. She doesn't attack when she sees the stone. she doesn't attack when Marcus shoots Ekko. She is overwhelmed by her mental illness and attacks when Vi "leaves her" again, running back toward the bridge after the gunshot.
4. The symbol of Silco's love is in jeopardy, and she feels like Vi is leaving all over again. Once more she is a little girl facing the terrifying prospect of being all alone again and it's quite simply too much. Look how big Mylo is over her.
I mean this just isn't subtle. This was not the act of a freedom fighter assassinating an enemy. This was the act of a mentally ill young woman losing control and unleashing violence in an attempt to hold on to what she is terrified to lose.
4. Abducting Caitlyn:
Not much to say here but it is worth mentioning as it frequently gets filed under the "Jinx = Oppressed, Caitlyn = Oppressor, so Jinx abduct and possibly torture Caitlyn = Okeydokey Artichokey!" crowd. This didn't have a damn thing to do with Zaun. Because of Silco and Sevika's manipulations, Jinx's history with Enforcers, and Jinx's mental illness she viewed Caitlyn as the one keeping Vi from her and she acted out jealousy, fear and rage.
5. Attack On the Council:
Ok. This is in the big one that is probably the most hotly debated. By now we all know the context here. Jinx has abducted Silco, Vi and Caitlyn to host her dinner party. Silco is now dead, and in a moment of "accepting" who she is Jinx strikes at the Council of Piltover, unknowingly during the very moment they are ratifying Zaunite independence.
Silco's words echo over the strike while the hauntingly beautiful "what could have been" plays. It is truly a moving moment and all sarcasm or nastiness aside let me say that I do understand how people are interpreting this scene the way they are.
Jinx sits in the chair seemingly accepting herself as the daughter of Silco and inheritor of his legacy
Vi blames herself for creating jinx. The camera cuts to Vi multiple times during the song.
Jinx gives the whole "I thought you could love me like you used to" speech. Onece again just piling onto Vi and implying Jinx knows who she is now.
Jinx is clearly remorseful for shooting Silco and striking at his enemies would be a logically fitting way to respond
However, it is not that simple. Jinx is not making the first strike for her people in the wake of her adopted fathers death. She is a grieving, enraged, and yes mentally ill young woman in the middle of a breakdown lashing out at a symbol of pain and loss in her world.
I recently wrote a short sarcastic little blurb about this and that was my bad. This topic deserves more. But someone responded that I was implying Jinx was not capable making plans or decisions in that moment because of her mental illness. That is not what I mean. What I mean is that Jinx's heart and mind are an open ragged wound in this moment, and she lashes out at something that has always symbolized loss and pain and anger. Smashing it down into a first strike for freedom is not only illogical based on narrative evidence, but robs the moment of what Jinx is really going through.
"What Could Have Been":
This song narratively takes us into Jinx's pov as this moment plays out. It is beautiful, and haunting. The key however, as we are hearing Jinx's perspective play out, is to remember that her mind is not well.
We have been watching her unravel more and more since the beginning of S1 A2. Think back to when she and Vi first reunite. She is clearly ashamed of what she has done with Silco. Put that up against her shooting at Vi even one episode later on the bridge.
2. She is still extremely fresh from the Shimmer procedure that even though it saved her life was horrific and painful to the point it could have killed her.
3. She abducts Caitlyn nude from her bathroom and tells Vi she be Powder again if Vi will just murder Caitlyn.
4. She kills Silco in the middle of a breakdown
5. Quite frankly. The whole "dinner party" itself. There is not a damn thing in the world about her behavior or mental state at this time that suggests she is level or even. Her sudden calm after killing Silco isn't a patricide induced clarity. It is a breaking.
She is angry, she is grieving, she is ill and she is afraid. She feels that Vi cannot love her anymore because of who she is and she killed the only other person she had. So she lashes out. And in so-doing actually obliterates her peoples chance of independence.
Intent:
Now I have seen the argument made that it doesn't matter what her reasons or intent were. Because ultimately her actions served Zaun. Did they though?
Blowing up the building and killing six enforcers caused the bridge blockade Her attack on the bridge almost killed Caitlyn, which all personal character bias aside, if she had successfully caused the death of a council woman's daughter Piltover would have gone nuclear. She also almost killed Ekko successfully who was actually a champion for Zaunites. Her attack on the council opens the door for Ambessa and kicks off the events leading to Caitlyn's strike team and the occupation. The most obvious and one that should be taken with a grain of salt given the extenuating circumstances. But Jinx was a part of Silco's operations. Piltover's neglect and oppression may have allowed bad men to rise up and take control, but Silco was their chief. He flooded the lanes with Shimmer regardless of the harm and Jinx played a part in that.
SEASON 2
Alright, moving into season 2. This is where people were angry and feeling that the show was throwing away Jinx's revolutionary arc. But as I've stated it is my belief that is never where her story was going to begin with. So let's dig into some points I feel lend themselves to this point.
Aftermath of Jinx's attack:
What is she doing in the wake of her first strike? Leading battle planning sessions? Nope. Wandering the streets while Chem-Barons rip Zaun apart. Why? Because she wasn't firing the first strike. She was breaking down. And now she is all alone. Her adopted father gone, his organization failing, her sister lost to her.
Ventilation Chamber Battle:
Alright so I see this battle mentioned as well because Jinx and Sevika let The Grey loose in Piltover in retaliation. I wasn't sure if I should discuss this or not, since some people like to pretend Jinx never did this and I don't want to confuse them. But better to be thorough.
As I'm sure you know this is the battle when Vi & Caitlyn finally confront Jinx & Sevika down in the pipeworks of Zaun. They all engage in a massive and brutal brawl to some truly outstanding music, and in the end Sevika detonates a series of charges that send the Grey up into Piltover all over the city.
I have spoken AT LENGTH about the hyperbole and nonsense the fandom has engaged in when it comes to The Grey and Caitlyn. I can assure you I'm not going to magically assign it some ultra-lethal quality just because Jinx is now doing it.
"Jinx was acting in retaliation against their oppressors for Caitlyn's strike team poisoning Zaun's air!"-- You get the idea
The issue of course is that this was not some strategic retaliation in Jinx's rebellion. This was intended to be her suicide and end Vi as well. Jinx wants to die here.
Hard to lead a rebellion when you intend to die at your sisters hands. However I will give Jinx partial credit if that makes anyone feel better. She was at least retaliating against Piltover as well.
Becoming A Symbol:
Alright. This is where we get into Zaun trying to force her into this box as well. Let's do a very quick rundown of events leading up to the occupation of Zaun under Martial Law:
1. Caitlyn leaves Vi after the battle and becomes the commander 2. Caitlyn and Ambessa's forces hunt Jinx throughout Zaun, cannot locate her. Place Zaun under Martial Law until she is caught and try to get Zaunites to turn on her 3. Zaunites make Jinx their symbol of resistance. Their flag to rally behind. Even the spy Maddie says "we made them desperate for something to believe in".
And what has Jinx been doing the entire time?
Which by the way. AS. SHE. SHOULD. She finally found some fucking peace and happiness. But she was not in any fashion out throwing Molotovs and getting arrested. She did not become the symbol of the rebellion because she earned it. She became the symbol because she's the one they had when they need something to believe in. Even when she frees all those people from prison she only does so because she is trying to rescue Isha. And by the way the show is not subtle about what this means for her:
She and Isha are living happily-
When Sevika comes in angry and slamming things and demanding Jinx consider what Silco sacrificed (aside from Jinx's second family of course) Jinx starts glitching and yells.
2. Jinx tearfully admits to Silco's chair she doesn't want to mess up what she has with Isha
3. When Isha is taken and Jinx has no choice but to rejoin the fight, the show is quite clear about the tone it sets for Jinx.
Pop Quiz class, does it seem like they are implying its a good thing?
Side Note:
Jinx has too many barbs, comments, taunts and so on to name regarding her feelings for Piltover. I didn't include them because⌠duh? She hates Piltover and she hates Enforcers. Again. That is not the same as being a revolutionary. Not to mention at the least in the context of her talking shit to Vi for putting on the badge, it should be noted that all you usually have to do is go a few words in either direction or consider the actual context and her clever jabs at her sister lose some of their luster.
"I busted half of Zaun out of prison while you were passed out in the bottom of a mug" INITIATING TRANSLATION FROM JINX-SPEAK TO REALITYâŚ.. "While you were in a self-destructive spiral that was probably going to kill you and caused among other things by my actions as well, I was chilling with Isha during the entire occupation until she went full feral gremlin and got arrested. I freed the others while I was there to get her also"
And that isn't hating on Jinx by the way. But people like to use all her clever little comments to really sell this whole image of her character and justify screaming about her not leading the massacre of Piltover or something at the end so it seemed worth mentioning.
Conclusion
So. When it is all said and done, why even touch on this? Because I think people so stuck on wanting her to be a revolutionary for Zaun are missing the point. Sure her feelings were there, but the actions she took were never for Zaun's freedom. That isn't her story, just like it isn't Vi's. People watched this show expecting everyone to follow traditional heroic journeys. But not every character is meant to become the leader on the throne. Sometimes, they are the long suffering victim of a system that doesn't really care about them, and although they can fight for and defend their people, their greatest victory is getting to live for themselves and their loved ones in peace.
Think about "Silco's" final speech to Jinx: Break free from these labels and restrictions. These "prisons". Walk away from the cycle because otherwise it will. not. stop. Like most of you I'm sure, I wanted to see Jinx and Vi together as sisters at the end of the show. And I have seen SO. MANY. comments saying it's bullshit that Jinx had to go off on her own so Vi could have a happy ending but these people are seriously missing the point.
Jinx not only gave Vi a chance at a happy ending, but she set off to find her own. She was never going to find peace in Piltover where no matter the circumstances, there were very real people living with the aftermath of her crimes. And she was never going to escape the shadow of Silco returning to Zaun, either being held to account for her part in his crimes or expected to lead their people. And that is to say nothing of the memories of everything she'd lost haunting every corner of Zaun.
I understand if her story wasn't what you wanted. We all had our own preferences and ideas and theories for how things were going to go. But by trying to force Jinx's narrative into a certain box and being angry at the parts that don't fit, you miss out on the story we were given.
A tortured but loving young woman who reclaims her soul, and sets off into the unknown to find her peace. Fulfilling the dream of a bright and inquisitive little girl who dreamed of better days.
