okay.....inhales...... UNIVERSITY AU!!!!!! Crew members as university professors x student! Reader who has a massive, explosive, crush on them!!!!
💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻
TEACHERS PET— Professor! Crew Members x Student! Reader who has a massive crush on them!
warnings: college! AU, student/teacher relationship dynamics, power dynamics, reader is 18. No NSFW in this one, jimmy being manipulative, the characters being a little inappropriate.
note: y'all want a part 2? I can make one where the reader proposes, and then one with relationship dynamics and how it would play out. angst maybe? Lemme know.
PROF. GRANT CURLY
He would be the professor of data science/and or aerospace engineering, with astrophysics.
Extremely well liked at the University, students and teachers alike look up to him due to his approachable demeanor and calm and respectable nature.
Very responsible as an authoritative figure, in his years of expertise, he's never had a single complaint ever come in from the board or from any student/guardian.
Which is why he basically fell into a dilemma when you one of his top students, started looking at him in a way that he was sure wasn't platonic.
Curly is very strict on keeping his personal and professional life apart.
He tried to convince himself, that it was just a puppy crush and it would soon go away.
But boy oh boy, nothing had prepared him for the day that you snuck into his office in the pretense of asking subject related questions.
He could practically feel your eyes being fixated on him, it didn't help how you were so devastatingly attractive either.
He doesn't wanna risk his career, and your educational prowess.
But God, He doesn't know how he's going to handle this predicament he's gotten himself into.
PROF. JIMMY ZARE
Oh boy. Oh dear.
He's a Psychology Professor fasho.
You've chosen the wrong older man to fall in love, this guy is literally the man LDR sings about.
Sure, he was probably the strictest and sternest professor on campus grounds, but he was also... The sexiest one, and he didn't even hide the fact that he didn't know how many young adults in the institution were practically drooling over him. His rough stud persona.
He never paid them any attention, sure he dropped in flirty smiles and winks every now and then to get the girls weak in their knees, but that all stopped when he laid his eyes on you.
you were this young, bright, cheery and oh so beautiful student, who happened to look at him in a way which he wasn't unfamiliar with.
He knew you were falling, hard.
Normally, he would of just ignored your desperate attempts at getting to know him, telling you off or extreme case just sleep with you to fulfill your desires of extra credits.
But no, you weren't looking at him entirely for lust, oh no no no.
He recognised that you were madly, deeply, in love.
And to him, you just seemed so tempting.
Like an angel whose wings he had to rip apart, a beautiful doll whose innocence he had to taint.
And he isn't quite sure if he's going to pass out on the opportunity.
PROF. ANYA MARINOVA
Psychology/Biology professor.
Extremely sweet, yet extremely stern, like curly, she prefers to keep her work and professional life separate.
She understands body language really well, so she was quick to catch onto your lingering eyes on her.
She acknowledges the fact that having romantic feelings for an authoritative figure is completely normal and part of a normal human psyche.
What she doesn't,is to act upon those feelings.
When she noticed you staying back during classes
She tries to play it coy, not giving you any attention.
But at one point, she begins to question even her morals.
Maybe it's not too bad? Time will tell.
PROF. SWANSEA HAROLD
Definitely the professor of Mechanical Engineering/Computer Engineering.
The typical no-nonsense straight to the point type professor.
Is extremely stern, hence is quite unpopular with the students.
It's a good day if he even acknowledged your existence, let alone engaging in a conversation.
He is quick to call out mistakes, hence if you wanna stand out you have to be a very good student who doesn't make any trouble or aren't inattentive.
He appreciates the students who actually take interest in the material rather than just mug everything up for passing.
But he isn't dumb, he's had his fair share of students crushing on him during his first years on the job.
He knows when a student starts paying too much attention to the guy teaching a boring ass physics formula.
He knows better than to indulge in their fantasies, to give them the delusional idea that something might be possible between the two of you.
But you caught his attention not just for your looks, okay maybe a little bit for your looks. but he'd also noticed how diligent you were as a student.
He's starting to question maybe it won't be too bad, it's been a while since he had some game. and you're both adults, so it should be fine right?
GUEST PROF. DAISUKE JUANEZ
Bro stormed through school and managed to bag the position as a guest lecturer at your college for a mechanical engineering course.
Since he's literally so unbelievably young, he has fangirls and fanboys left and right, and he knows it, he isn't dense.
But he promised himself he won't date any students since he thought they would only see him as a fantasy not someone to genuinely love.
But that was until you came into the picture.
He felt something the moment you locked eyes with him, he saw something in those eyes of yours, staring at him so dreamily.
He knows he's young, and he knows that you're as well, but he also knows that anything inappropriate between the two of you could result in him losing his job and risking even your future.
But he knows how to keep a secret, maybe you can as well?

i really enjoyed you sharing your intern story, but i was also keenly aware while reading that it seems like that trajectory is only possible if you have enough money to jump at the opportunity. things like buying a plane ticket, potentially break and lease, and sign a new one with just a few weeks' notice, and then work minimum wage only a couple of days a week while there? do you have any advice for how you were able to make that financially feasible, or in your opinion is breaking into the industry only possible by having a ton of cash to burn on last minute and under-compensated internships? this is asked without judgement; i do really appreciate your insights, and am asking out of desire to carve this path for myself with limited resources. thank you!
(Note: this reply is regarding this post)
You're 100% right - the way that studios structure internship positions highly favor students that have the financial means to drop everything and move to California for a few months, for little to no compensation. The fact that they don't offer any form of housing assistance or travel stipend makes it incredibly difficult to take on an internship without already having savings ready to go.
I was very thankful and lucky that my parents had saved funds for my higher education, which is how I had money to do the internship, but I totally recognize how much of a privilege that is. I think the fault is on the studios for making these programs inaccessible, especially when it could be an experience with the potential to shape the course of an artist's career.
There are a couple things that could possibly help - the first is that internships already require you to be a student enrolled in college, and it's possible you could try asking your school for financial assistance for the internship. Some schools have special funds set aside for things like this and it's always worth to see if your school does.
The second would be that the pandemic vastly changed the way studios operate, with many of them now allowing full-time or hybrid remote employees. During the beginning of COVID, internships were done virtually, and perhaps it's still possible to ask if the studio is willing to accommodate a remote internship.
My last advice though, would be that being unable to participate in an internship is NOT the end of the world. Getting an internship in the animation industry is WAY harder than getting a job - the vast majority of artists I've worked with never had internships, and many of them transferred into animation from other disciplines like engineering or computer science. The way I got my first job also was not directly through my internship, it was actually through a Dreamworks showrunner discovering my artwork on Twitter and reaching out to me about a job. These days, social media has so much power to connect us to opportunities that would have been extremely hard to get in the past and I would definitely keep that in mind as you continue your journey! Wishing you all the best of luck.

Do you have a headcanon for which major each South Park (main) boy would choose to study in college?
ofc! im very excited to answer this, ive been waiting for this ask for so long 😔🤙so here we go:
What Major The South Park Characters Would Study In College:
stan strikes me as someone who would have a hard time figuring out what he really wants to pursue in life so out of all the other kids he seems more likely to study something he has no interest in, like economics or finances. which is really sad. however if we are talking about a situation where he can find something he is passionate about, stan would imo study biology or go to veterinary school, tho i can also see him dropping out or quitting his job to pursue a career in music. worst case scenario he drops out and winds up taking on the tegridy farm business :(
kyle would study psychology. can see him later getting a phd and becoming an academician. i feel like his dad would encourage him to go to law school and continue his business as a father son practice but kyle would hate the idea. honestly the only way law would be enjoyable as a headcanon is if him and cartman both go to law school and become lawyers and are constantly pitted against each other in court lol.
cartman would do amazing in business school. another option is him thriving in fields like music or law as a defense attorney but business fits him best. gotta love the evil ceo with shady deeds headcanon.
butters would also major in business, he is more than capable. i can see him and cartman two being classmates for 16 years straight lol
kenny would go into either mechanical engineering or chemical engineering. maybe biochemistry, idk. but definitely something science and research based. he is pretty inventive afterall.
here are some bonus ones while im at it:
craig seems like the type to do well at more direct subjects like maths and physics but suck at literary arts, history etc. so him studying maths or physics seems plausible to me. in a country like mine he would prefer to major in some engineering field due to lack of job opportunities.
tweek wouldn't really want go to college and would eventually take on the coffee shop family business. imo he would see collage as too much pressure
tolkien would major in chemistry. i think his mother would encourage it. my headcanon is that her mother would help him in his school work and he would grown to like science overall as he grows up.
clyde the type of dude to go to college just for the campus life and thats why he would major in something very unrelated to him like history or english literature or gastronomy aiidçtkpq0elgmy9w0q
for wendy im so torn between med and political sciences because it seems like she would want to make a change in the world and become a politician but my personal bias is wendy would go into med school because she is just that neighbour's daughter that got into med school i recognize one when i see one rjoqğktntowğqödot
bebe would study either communications or journalism. personally leaning on journalism
im not very sure about heidi but im gonna go out on a limb and say she would study psychology just like kyle because the idea of them running into each other in a psychopathology class about personality disorders after years of not speaking to each other would be so fucking funny
ike would def study computer science
not sure on shelly but one thing i know is that she would apply for as many colleges as she can as long as they are out of state. so she would end up applying for any department without prioritizing what she wants, i dont think she would be certain. all she is certain for is that she would want to escape south park and be as far away from her family as possible.
thats all i can think of for now, i will def add some stuff when it comes to my mind
thanks for asking!!

December 5, 2018 - Part I
With a loud sigh, you turned off the alarm on your phone and stood up from your bed, shoving papers and your textbook into your bag. You’d already pressed snooze three times. Any more and you would for sure be late.
Your lecture started at 10, which meant you had to be on the subway by 9 if you wanted any chance of making it on time. Laptop, keys, coffee, ID badge… you ran through your checklist, reaching to grab your coffee mug–the one with the Schrödinger’s cat joke-from the counter before heading out the door. You really should buy a travel mug. You always got weird looks from people on the subway, scooching slightly away from you as if waiting for you to spill hot coffee all over them. More space for me, you thought happily.
You grabbed your coat and scarf and locked up your apartment, making your way down three flights of stairs. I need to find a better place to live, you sighed. The super had been promising for months that he would get the elevator fixed and it hadn’t happened yet. While that had been wonderful for your glutes, you were tired of this shithole. Once I get this job, I can look. Finally make enough money so I don’t have to live in this shoebox. You mentally added it to the never ending to do list.
As a graduate assistant in the Columbia University physics department, you were lucky enough to have tuition assistance, but that meant you had to teach three classes a semester of an undergrad physics course. Boring, but generally easy. Most of the students were there to finish out their science requirements, but occasionally you had a few kids actually interested in pursuing physics. Kids, you laughed to yourself. They’re not that much younger than you, dumbass.
You had at least one more year before you completed your PhD, having started your college career a little later than most. You hadn’t been able to afford it early on; the money your adoptive mom had left when she died had not quite been enough. So after high school, you worked long hours at the mechanic shop in town, skipping out on vacations, working holidays, and saving every penny you could manage.
You’d been able to enroll in your undergrad program at 21 at the community college, majoring in engineering, and managed to finish in three years. You were interested in science, the mechanics of how things worked and the theory behind it. Towards the end of undergrad, after attending a guest lecture from a highly regarded physics professor, your interests narrowed.
Your senior thesis project on engineering computations in quantum superposition had been what got you into Columbia, catching the eyes of a few professors. They’d offered you the assistantship while you got your masters, and you’d done so well in it that you kept it through to your doctoral program.
Today you had an interview at Hammer Industries. You hadn’t heard great things about working there, but a job was a job. Even though it was just a receptionist position, you hoped it would be a way to get your foot into the door of the professional world once you graduated. Plus I’ll have my silly little social media side gig, you smiled to yourself as you walked out of your apartment and onto the street, taking the quickest path to the 116th Street–Columbia University subway station and glancing at your watch. Shit, you thought. You were going to be cutting it close. Please make it, please make it.
You reached the platform just in time to slide into the car before the doors closed, finding a decent corner to lean into for the ride. You pulled out your phone while you rode, wanting to post the picture of your study material from earlier to your Instagram stories. You had been posting your graduate physics journey for the last few years and actually had a pretty decent following. You tried to post and interact regularly, putting out content explaining physics in easier terms, but also making the graduate school process as transparent as possible so people could know what to expect. The tiny bit of income you’d earned through it was unexpected (and definitely not enough to live off of), but welcomed.
You pulled up the photo of all your scattered notes, cropping out most of your bed and double checking that there was nothing fully identifiable in the picture. You loved your followers, but you weren’t looking to get a stalker, thank you very much. It was the end of the semester and every deadline, exam, paper, and project was looming over you, so you thought it fitting to add the text ‘My brain is exploding.’
Tumblr media
Posted. Done. One more thing off the to do list. You held your coffee mug away from you slightly, knowing the next bend was bumpy and you needed to be careful. You tucked your phone carefully into your pocket, and stood straight, ready to join the herd of people getting off the subway and making their way up the stairs to the streets. Thankfully, the physics building wasn’t too far from the station. I might just have enough time to refill my coffee, you thought happily. Hopefully there isn’t a huge line.
You carefully crossed the street and power walked through the crowds of students milling about, walking into one of the many on-campus coffee shops.
“Hey Professor!” you heard as you waited in line, turning to see who was greeting you. Oh, Peter Parker, you thought, placing his face. From last semester’s UN1202 Physics class, you reminded yourself.
“Mr. Parker, I’m not a professor,” you corrected, smiling at him anyway.
“Yet,” he grinned. “You’re fantastic at it, there’s no way the department doesn’t hire you once you graduate. Hey, did you see they released the lineup for the next symposium?”
“Oh, no. I haven’t checked my email yet today.” You wondered if it would be anything interesting this year. You’d skipped out the last two years because there had been too much focus on string theory for you to justify paying the ticket price and living off of cup ramen for a week. You were hoping this new job would give you just enough extra that you could afford to do things like that more regularly.
You reached the front of the line and greeted the barista, who was already reaching for your mug, knowing exactly what your order was. You swiped your card and dropped a dollar into the tip jar.
“I’m really excited to hear Rovelli. He doesn’t usually do these kinds of presentations anymore. What you said about how he theorized the faster than light possibilities for white holes in class last semester…” Peter whistled. You stood to the side, waiting to pick up your coffee and watched as Peter ordered something with a horrible caffeine to sugar ratio.
“I’m glad to know someone was listening,” you laughed. Even though you taught a freshman level introductory physics class, you often tried to go past some of the basics just to inspire students. Let them know how interesting physics could be beyond the basics of momentum and force and old white men like Issac Newton. “How are your courses this semester, Mr. Parker?”
“Oh, they’re pretty great. It’s been a lot of work balancing a full schedule with my internship and sp…special interests.” You quirked your eyebrow, not sure you wanted to ask about a college student’s special interests. “Hey, I can get tickets for all the symposiums from my internship, would you want to go with me?” Peter asked.
Is he asking me out? you thought, alarmed. “Oh, I…”
The shock must have shown on your face, because horror dawned on Peter’s. “Oh, no. Not like that, just as a friend. Definitely not a date.” Thank god. “I mean, not that you aren’t dateable, just…I have a girlfriend. And you’re my professor. Or were…” he stammered.
“Parker, breathe. It’s okay, I understand,” you laughed. “That would honestly be great. I haven’t really had the extra cash to get tickets to the last few events,” you trailed off, realizing that was probably more information than you should share.
“That’s a shame, really! It would be great content for your quantum questions account!”
“Oh, you know about…” your face scrunched in surprise.
“I figured it out last semester. You always came in with the same coffee that was posted. Sorry, I didn’t realize you…” Peter rubbed the back of his head.
“No, no. It’s fine. Just don’t blast it around please,” you asked, trusting Peter wasn’t going to dox you.
“Hey, here’s my number. I’ll text you about the tickets. I don’t really check my school email a lot,” Peter grinned sheepishly. He held out his Stark Phone towards your phone, and his contact card appeared on your screen.
Fancy, you thought, wondering how a college student could afford a top of the line smartphone. Perks of the internship, I guess.
As the barista handed you back your now-full mug and Peter his drink, you turned to Peter to say goodbye. You had less than 10 minutes now to make it to the lecture hall.
“Well, Mr. Parker, I hope you have a good day,” you said.
“It’s Peter, and thanks! You too Professor, got to run. I’ve got chem lab in five,” he joked. You smiled, watching him take off in the opposite direction, and made your way quickly into Pupin Hall and towards the classroom. Hopefully we can finish up the section on atomic physics today and start early on preparations for the final exam. I need to make sure I’m out of here by 11:30 if I want to get to Manhattan for the interview on time.
You walked through the doors at 9:58, and headed straight to the podium.
“Good morning, scientists, who can tell me the difference between fission and fusion?”
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
God, I’m going to be so late. Not a good first impression for an interview, dummy. You finished wiping up as much coffee as you could, throwing the paper towels into a nearby trash can. You had been answering a few questions from students after class when your phone buzzed. You’d reached back distractedly to grab it and knocked over the iced coffee that one of the students had brought to you (lovely girl, she deserves an A+ , you thought jokingly).
You had watched it fall, unable to stop it. Then you sighed as you took in the mess, finishing packing your bag and then snapping a picture before you went to clean it up. You could hear your mom’s voice in your head now, fussing at you for always taking pictures of everything. You had always argued back that you liked documenting things, especially since you hadn’t known anything about the first year or so of your life. You smiled at the memories. Forgetting why you’d reached for your phone in the first place, you pocketed it and knelt down to clean.
Tumblr media
“Can I please turn in that report still? My grandmother died, I couldn’t write it because of the funeral, and…” one of your students was saying, having run up at the last minute while you were wiping up coffee.
“Mr. Davis, please. Save it. You’ve had 5 grandmothers die this semester if my count is correct.” You shot him a look. At least he has the decency to look abashed. “The deadline for makeup work is midnight tonight. Get it done.”
“Thank you! I won’t let you down!” he exclaimed as he ran off.
Doubtful, you thought. Unfortunately, that was the reality of most semesters. There were always students who didn’t care to do the work until the last minute. But you refused to have to grade late work, determined that your winter break would be a true break. You needed it every year. So your makeup work deadline was set in stone.
You grabbed your things and made a quick walk to your office to print your resume. I really need to stop waiting until the last minute to do things like this, you thought.
You glanced at your watch and sighed, turning back to the doors to head out instead of to your office. It was at least a 5 minute walk to the subway station, which meant you would miss it. Which meant you’d likely be late for the interview. Fucking great.
“Could this day get any worse?” you muttered to yourself as you walked out of the building, hoping they would accept a digital copy of your resume. You pulled out your phone to email the document to the person you’d set up the interview with, and saw several notifications on your phone that you had missed.
Tumblr media
Well, fuck, you thought, heart dropping. You squinted up at the sky. Are those…planes? You could see things zooming all over. People were stopped everywhere just like you, looking up and trying to figure out what the things were.
That’s…people? Aliens? Spaceships. Shit. That can’t be good, you thought, realizing too late what you were seeing. One of the flying motorcycle-like vehicles zoomed past, flying very low to the street. What looked like a laser (can’t be, can it?) shot from the front, hitting a taxi which promptly exploded into flames.
People were screaming now, and scattering. Fuck, fuck, shit, came your frantic thoughts. You ran down the steps and pressed yourself up against the wall of the building, trying to avoid getting trampled. You watched in horror as more of the creatures descended. A couple of them landed, pointing their weapons at the people running. They were shouting something, but you couldn’t understand.
You turned the corner and looked toward the subway entrance. Can I make it… there were dozens of people running everywhere. Two of the attackers were flying in circles low to the ground around a group of what looked like students. Run! Oh my god, get out . You were frozen, eyes wide and trying to figure out if you could help. Without getting myself killed in the process.
An explosion rocked the ground, and you crouched down, covering your head with your arms and squeezing your eyes tight. There goes the coffee shop, you thought, seeing smoke coming from down the block. You heard more gunshots, looking up to figure out where they were coming from; to figure out which direction to run, what might be safest.
You felt a buzzing under your skin, which you assumed was adrenaline, and a sudden pull to look to your left. You breathed a sigh of relief when you saw it: the Avengers had arrived.
Captain America had thrown his shield at one of the aliens, who dropped to the ground. Its friend turned on the Captain, firing its weapon. He managed to duck behind his shield, but the– is that actually a laser beam? Woah, how’d they…no, shut up brain. Not the time! You looked ahead, deciding that up the road toward the Avengers would be safer. Maybe you could get behind them, could get…
Iron Man landed not fifty feet away from you, bringing a group of flying assailants after him. You ducked again, trying to make yourself as small as possible, scraping your elbow against the side of the building. You hissed and grabbed your arm, feeling the rip in your shirt sleeve, pulling your hand back and seeing bright red. Shit. You must’ve scraped half your skin off.
“Get out of here,” Iron Man yelled back towards you. Don’t need to tell me twice, you thought frantically, darting forward across the sidewalk. Your instincts told you to head that way. There was more fighting ahead in front of the now destroyed coffee shop. You ran over the broken glass, hoping nothing would make it through your shoes. Black Widow and the Winter Soldier appeared through the smoke, followed by four of the creatures. Up close, you could see the alien better. A tall, grey, reptilian thing… are those the things that attacked in the Battle of New York? The Cthulhu? The Chitauri? The Chipotle? I wonder if they eat space burritos…
There were a few people trying to sneak out of the destroyed coffee shop, watching the Chitauri fighting Black Widow and the Winter Soldier. You looked back behind you to see if it was clear, then hurriedly waved the people out of the building. “This way, come on!” you pointed towards the alley, hoping the courtyard would be safer than the streets.
As the people ran past you, you saw one of the Chitauri look your way, its attention drawn by all the noise or the movement. You weren’t entirely sure what kind of senses they had. Oh no, no, no you don’t. Before you put much thought to it, you darted back up the road, away from the people you’d just gotten out. Why you felt you deserved to be the distraction, you couldn’t tell.
You heard another explosion from behind, far enough away that you didn’t feel it thankfully. You scrambled through the debris in front of you, looking for the next safe spot. There, you thought, seeing the doors into the mathematics building. You’d made it a few yards when you felt a body slam into yours, knocking you to the ground. You tried to roll into the fall, but braced too much with your arm. You let out a yell as you felt your wrist jam and your shoulder take the brunt of the impact, and felt your head hit the ground right after. Ow, you thought as your vision blurred. Before you could push yourself up, something pulled you up by your shirt. You turned just enough to see the alien’s ugly face as it roared at you.
“Ugh, fuck! Brush your teeth or something, dude!” you grimaced as you tried to squirm out of its grip, kicking at its torso. The Chitauri warrior growled, then reached its other hand around your neck and lifted you up higher. You clawed at its scaly hand, trying to keep it from choking you.
Black dots started swirling in your vision. I have to get out…can’t breathe… The buzzing under your skin intensified, and you wondered briefly if that’s what it felt like when you didn’t get enough oxygen to your brain. You landed a good kick, hearing the creature grunt in pain just as you saw a metal arm wrap around its neck and twist. You heard a sickening crunch and felt your body drop to the ground when the alien’s grip loosened. You looked up at the Winter Soldier pulling a knife out of the alien’s back. He looked over at you, his blue-grey eyes piercing through you, then scanned behind you looking for danger. Jesus dude, way to make killing aliens look good, your addled brain thought. The buzzing feeling was starting to be hard to ignore, a loud hum in your head now, an insistence that you didn’t understand. I wonder if I have a concussion.
The Soldier stepped over the alien, his metal hand grabbing you under your uninjured shoulder and lifting you up. The buzzing stopped immediately. You barely gained your footing as he pulled you over to the side of the building.
“That way,” he nodded behind you and you glanced at where he was looking. “Go.”
You weren’t going to argue, really. But the buzzing was back, like a pull this time. As you turned back to thank him, you saw a Chitarui weapon swing toward him and you acted. All you could hear was that hum; something in your body screaming at you to protect him, to save him, to get him out of the way. You lurched forward and powered into the Soldier, tackling him around the middle, using your entire body strength to take him off balance and knock him back. Away from the laser, which had been aimed right between where the two of you had been standing. Safe, your body hummed.
The only reason you were able to knock him back was your unexpected move, but he must have quickly realized what you were doing. Mid fall, he twisted your bodies so that he would take the brunt of the falling debris as the explosion wracked the building you were next to. His eyes were as wide as yours as you both fell to the ground, and you could see the flecks of blue hidden within the grey. You could feel the heat of the fire on your skin, which felt like it was being sandblasted. You could feel his arms through his tac suit wrapped tightly around you, the clear difference between the flesh and the metal.
Safe, you thought again. You felt the wind knocked out of your body as your back made contact with the ground with the Soldier's full weight on top of you. You felt his breath on your face as he grunted through the debris impacts.
Your focus was immediately drawn to behind the Soldier’s head. He must have seen the horror on your face as chunks of the building rained down on you. He tried to wrap his metal arm around your head to protect you, but he could only do so much. A chunk of concrete grazed the side of your head and the world went black.

The Greek Gods Legacy: A legacy challenge for the Sims 4
This is a 10 generation legacy challenge I thought about randomly one day remembering my childhood hyperfixation on Greek mythology. There are a few legacy challenges based around this concept already out there but I wanted to create my own! Some other versions of this challenge can be found here and here. Please check out these other challenges & find one you enjoy if my rendition isn't for you. Thank you & any helpful feedback would be appreciated!
BASIC RULES:
Cheats are allowed, play how you like to play!
Each generation is given a few colors that you can use as their color scheme, but it is totally optional. The traits, career, aspiration & skills listed under each generation are not optional & must be assigned & completed fully in order to move on to the next generation
The heirs can be of any gender, but I would recommend naming them the exact names of the gods/goddesses they are based after. I have tried to make the rules for each generation as genderless as possible so you can freely pick what gender you prefer to play with
There are 2 generations with 2 heir options: simply pick one of the heirs to play with & only focus on the requirements for the heir you chose, even if the other option is in your active household
Feel free to change any aspect of the challenge that you want to! Don't have a certain pack mentioned in multiple generations? Just skip those rules or substitute them with whatever you want & have fun with it!

Hello Mr. ENTJ. I'm an ENTJ sp/so 3 woman in her early twenties with a similar story to yours (Asian immigrant with a chip on her shoulder, used going to university as a way to break generational cycles). I graduated last month and have managed to break into strategy consulting with a firm that specialises in AI. Given your insider view into AI and your experience also starting out as a consultant, I would love to hear about any insights you might have or advice you may have for someone in my position. I would also be happy to take this discussion to somewhere like Discord if you'd prefer not to share in public/would like more context on my situation. Thank you!
Insights for your career or insights on AI in general?
On management consulting as a career, check the #management consulting tag.
On being a consultant working in AI:
Develop a solid understanding of the technical foundation behind LLMs. You don’t need a computer science degree, but you should know how they’re built and what they can do. Without this knowledge, you won’t be able to apply them effectively to solve any real-world problems. A great starting point is deeplearning.ai by Andrew Ng: Fundamentals, Prompt Engineering, Fine Tuning
Know all the terminology and definitions. What's fine tuning? What's prompt engineering? What's a hallucination? Why do they happen? Here's a good starter guide.
Understand the difference between various models, not just in capabilities but also training, pricing, and usage trends. Great sources include Artificial Analysis and Hugging Face.
Keep up to date on the newest and hottest AI startups. Some are hype trash milking the AI gravy train but others have actual use cases. This will reveal unique and interesting use cases in addition to emerging capabilities. Example: Forbes List.
On the industry of AI:
It's here to stay. You can't put the genie back in the bottle (for anyone reading this who's still a skeptic).
AI will eliminate certain jobs that are easily automated (ex: quality assurance engineers) but also create new ones or make existing ones more important and in-demand (ex: prompt engineers, machine learning engineers, etc.)
The most valuable career paths will be the ones that deal with human interaction, connection, and communication. Soft skills are more important than ever because technical tasks can be offloaded to AI. As Sam Altman once told me in a meeting: "English is the new coding language."
Open source models will win (Llama, Mistral, Deep Seek) because closed source models don't have a moat. Pick the cheapest model because they're all similarly capable.
The money is in the compute, not the models -- AI chips, AI infrastructure, etc. are a scarce resource and the new oil. This is why OpenAI ($150 billion valuation) is only 5% the value of NVIDIA (a $3 trillion dollar behemoth). Follow the compute because this is where the growth will happen.
America and China will lead in the rapid development and deployment of AI technology; the EU will lead in regulation. Keep your eye on these 3 regions depending on what you're looking to better understand.

Elite Force highschool hc's
stealing this idea from @texanmarcusdavenport because I too have headcannons that I must scream into the void.
Centium city is located close enough to Logan High that the kids all go there. Bree and Chase changed their last names so they can go to Logan without being recognized. Their alias last name is "Douglas" because they're not creative and it's hilarious to see their teachers meet Douglas Douglas during conferences.
While the bionic teens are well known around the world, there wasn't quite as much coverage of them in the Philly area because it wasn't super local, so Bree and Chase are able to fly under the radar easier since they're not household names around here.
Idk if yall know what this is, but I feel like it would be fun to have their school structured under the academy system. In short, along with required core classes like math and english, you have to pick an area of interest or career for your other classes. You get cords for completing courses in your academy and most of your electives will be centered around that area of study, plus it helps with college applications.
As always, we'll do this in alphabetic order
Bree:
After much deliberation, she decided on the Natural Resources and Agriculture academy (green). She originally wanted to do Human Services and join ROTC for drill, but Chase wouldn't let her because that would draw too much attention to them.
- her adhd makes it difficult to retain information, so she struggles with classwork, especially lectures.
- in the gifted program w/ Oliver (Chase is jealous lol) no, the gifted program is not based on grades, it's IQ based.
- not super interested in her academy, mostly just in it for the field trips.
- thrives in English classes, can whip out a grade A essay in 20 minutes.
- expert procrastinator, usually doing her homework the morning it's due or in between classes
Chase:
Part of the Business and Computer Technology academy (blue). Though he'd probably thrive more in Engineering, he mostly just joined to work towards inheriting Davenport Industries like Donald wants him to.
- very booksmart
- sacrificed his perfect GPA for maintaining cover. (He's sitting at 3.5, though he's definitely capable of 4.0)
- not the most social, trying his best to lay low.
- started working the schools coffee shop and snack hut for the finance side of things
- refused to test for the gifted program, pissed that Bree did behind his back despite his insistence that they don't draw attention to themselves.
Connie/Skylar:
Part of the Arts and Communications academy (purple). While she's not particularly skilled in the arts, she does enjoy marching band and likes spending time with Jordan and Gus (who are also both in AnC, art and film respectively.)
- gets decent grades. B average
- took an interest in theatre after Gus's Skylar Storm movie, and now helps out on tech.
- works the booth for shows, light design and helps out with mic checks
- surprisingly good at history for an alien- she convinced Chase to join her at history bowl and their team obliterated the other schools.
- involved in multiple sports, namely wrestling and dance team, but colour guard is still her favourite.
- so used to the name Connie that she doesn't even realise when people call her that outside of school, though the twins still slip up and call her Skylar in class.
Kaz:
Part of Health Sciences academy (red) to help with work, though he's less serious about it. If given a choice, he'd choose not to belong to any academy and just go home. He focuses more on the sports injury side of things, learning how to prevent injury rather than treat it for the most part.
- his grades don't reflect his intelligence
- struggles in class due to his adhd
- the only reason he's not failing his medical courses is because Oliver helps keep him on task
- tried three other academies before MM, none seemed to fit him best.
- the only elective he takes outside of HnS is shop, he especially loves welding and blacksmithing.
Oliver:
Also in the Health Sciences academy (red). Though he originally joined because of Mighty Med, he actually found a love for field, focusing on the Medical side. He's been taking extra science classes for fun along with academy courses.
- gets good grades, but definately not perfect.
- terrible at anything that requires math
- builds study dates into his schedule to spend time with Kaz and help him learn the material.- has been in the gifted program since elementary school.
- was originally part of AnC with the rest of his friend group, but switched early his sophomore year when he started working at MM
- still participates in band, playing the oboe for concert and marimba for marching season.
Ages:
Skylar is a senior, everyone else is a junior.

i think it's so cool that you're a biology researcher! if i may ask, how did you find yourself in that path and how did you know you wanted to go to med school? i'm not in college yet but i've been considering the possibility of clinical practice in the future but i am not too sure 🥹
hi!! omg that's so exciting i remember trying to figure it out as well. this is LONG because i have a lot of advice so i am vv sorry in advance!
so i spent most of my time in high school thinking i was going to be an engineer. i'm talking 4 courses of physics, multivariable calculus and self-taught diffEq, statistics, more calculus, two years of computer science, and I did a physics program at Fermi Lab. I was always interested in biology and medicine though, so in my head the best overlap was going to be biomedical engineering.
but when i started actually applying to biomedical engineering programs, i started to realize that if i went into bme, i'd end up just inches away from the job i actually wanted. like, i'd be developing the tools but i wanted to be at the physician-patient interface. and that kind of made up my mind for me, that i at least wanted to try to be in medicine.
so i hail mary'd and i applied to a direct-med program-
(sidebar, i don't actually know if this has come up so much as it has been sign-posted by my linguistic preferences but i'm american and studying medicine in america is one triple mega xl shitshow. in a direct-med program, rather than applying to undergrad, finishing, maybe taking gap years to build a cv?, and applying out to medical schools, then residency + fellowship which is a grand total of like 1 trillion years, you apply to med school and undergrad at the end of high school and then you kinda have a conditional admission to med school as long as you complete the pre-med requirements and it shortens the process to a conservative 0.8 trillion years.)
i've done an unfortunate job here of making this process seem horrible, but i will say two things: this process is long and difficult. you know what the interesting thing is though? life is usually both long and difficult. there are easier ways to make money, there will always be easier ways to make money – but if you love medicine and you love biology, the fulfillment you will have practically every day as you make your way through this process outweighs everything. i have spent twelve hour days in lab, come in on weekends, left at ungodly late hours all for minimum wage and felt blinding satisfaction that is rare to find in a lot of roles. and i've heard similar things from a lot of my friends. i will never pretend it's easy, but something being hard doesn't make it not FUN.
-and i got in! even then, i wasn't sure if locking myself into a med program was the best idea since literally months before that i was so committed to engineering. but i knew that if i put myself into that program, i would come out the other end a physician and i wouldn't regret it. and honestly, i'm extremely grateful for this because it surrounded me with a cohort of peers who all delusionally committed to medicine at the age of 17. they're the best :) and they were the biggest influences on my love for my intended career.
if you're from literally any other country (most do medical education differently), it will be a little bit of a different experience but i think broadly surrounding yourself with peers who can encourage you and inspire you to find ways to be fulfilled within the healthcare field and help you not second guess your decision is super important. i also think if you're interested in maybe being in clinical practice, taking a look at studying medical humanities (bioethics, medical sociology, health policy, the history of medicine) could also be an interesting exploration because it will get you in touch with both the art and science of medicine. the humanistic components are understudied by a lot of aspiring physicians but if you root your passions there i swear you never lose it.
when it comes to medical/biological science (and my now position as a vascular biology researcher), i started with bench science research in undergrad! i cold emailed a bunch of principal investigators to find if they had room for an undergraduate research assistant, and i found a lab that studies blood vessel growth and became insanely attached to the subject matter. i get to do a cool combination of hands-on science and data analysis, and they give me a lot of room to take charge of the project and present its findings.
i always thought i'd wanna do research 'curing' something, like research that specifically impacts a disease. my research, however, is basic science research – so i'm basically trying to figure out how a set of genes work and what they do because we don't know it yet! i never thought i'd fall in love with this project but i did! so my advice on research is to reach out to whoever you can, try to find good mentors, and keep on open mind. you never ever know what you'll end up with a passion for.
let me know if there are any other questions i can answer! but you're early in the process yet – you have a lot of time to explore :) i'm not sure all of this was actually useful advice cos the path i took was kind of a niche path, but i swear i can give better more applicable advice.

Why is landing an Internship as a Computer Engineering/Computer Science Student so hard ?
Hey there, dear coders!
I apologize for my long absence—life caught me off guard with a lot of work and projects. Now that I finally have some time, I wanted to make a post to connect with you all. Thank you so much for 1,000 subscribers! I know maintaining a community requires consistent posting, and I feel like many of you might have forgotten about me. But I promise to make something big out of this. I've been thinking about starting a newsletter where you can receive weekly emails from me, discussing something I learned that week or anything that intrigued me and I felt like sharing.
Now, back to our question: Is it really hard to land an internship as a computer science student? The answer is yes, and as a computer engineering student myself, I can attest to this.
I've often wondered why it's so difficult. After some observations, I discovered that almost every computer science student's resume looks the same. The portfolios are nearly identical, lacking uniqueness. If you've studied at the same school as your friends, what would make a recruiter choose you over them?
This is where uniqueness and a sense of self come in. Your portfolio or website should reflect exactly who you are as a person and highlight your strengths.
The second crucial factor is dedication. I've had classmates who are extremely dedicated. They might not have any special skills, but they show immense interest in what they want to do. This drive is palpable, and recruiters can sense it too.
Sometimes, the resume isn't even the most important aspect. For big companies like Oracle, what you say and know during the interview and technical tests matters more. The resume is just the very first step.
So, what I've learned along the way can be summed up in two words: uniqueness and dedication.
Now how to Create the Perfect Resume to Land an Internship as a Student ?
1. Keep the design simple:
Avoid extra designs or too many colors. While uniqueness is important, recruiters generally do not favor overly designed resumes.
2. Structure your resume properly:
- The Resume Header
Contact Information:
Full name and title: List your first and last name. Use the title of the role you want instead of your current title.
Professional email address: Use a clean format like [email protected].
Phone number: Choose the number you check most frequently. Record a professional voicemail greeting if yours is too casual.
Address: List only your city and state. Let recruiters know if you're willing to relocate if applicable.
LinkedIn or other professional social media: Include your LinkedIn profile if it's active and relevant. List any portfolios or computer engineering-related sites.
- The Resume Summary
A paragraph where you describe yourself by answering these questions:
What is your professional style? (Use one or two descriptive words such as patient, critical thinker, consensus builder, excellent designer.)
What is your greatest engineering strength?
What will you add to this particular team?
What is your process for building and maintaining computer networks?
What are you proudest of in your career?
Example:
Motivated computer engineering student with a strong foundation in software development and solid analytical and problem-solving skills. Looking for an opportunity to enhance my skills in a challenging professional environment.
- The Employment History Section
Be specific about how you contributed to each position and the impact you made.
List the job title, organization name, dates of employment, and 3–6 bullet points showcasing your achievements.
Start each bullet point with a strong action verb like collaborated or designed.
Highlight significant achievements rather than just listing responsibilities.
If you have no experience, include a projects section. This will act as your experience. Highlight how you worked on each project and your passion for it.
- The Skills Section
Combine hard and soft skills. The skills section is often the first place recruiters look to ensure you have the key abilities they're seeking. Your entire resume should support the skills you list here.
- The Education and Certifications Section
List your education, including any relevant courses or special achievements during your degree. Also, mention any certifications you have, whether from freeCodeCamp, Google, Coursera, etc.
By following these tips, you can create a resume that stands out and showcases your unique strengths and dedication. Good luck with your internship search, and remember to stay true to yourself!

Idea: Immortality with a purpose
Why are immortals so damn boring?
They figure out how to make their lives easy and then they sit around doing nothing new getting the same heart breaks and being dull
You have the party immortals that live it up and the war immortals that fight their way across the world
But immortals are often detached from humanity
There are a few portrayals of immortality which are exciting in media but I mentioned I wanted to avoid the whole death thing and was told I'd be bored within a few centuries, it vexed me
I have a list of things I want to do that I know will take a staggeringly long time so I need to rush into them somewhat. Many of these projects only work if I have millennia to complete them
The reading project, I want to read every book in every language but I want to do it somewhat lazily, I'm not going to learn any languages explicitly I want to start with English and work my way backwards into Norse and Latin, I could work forward again to most romance languages slide my way around the linguistic tree. There will be disconnected areas since written communication is spotty throughout history but that's half the fun, I'd bet there are trillions of words in text books or printed works, and by the time I've don't that there'd be a thousand times that produced on the internet by real humans (or chat GPT) at a few thousand words per day that's easily a million years of reading.
Science, there are whole branches of science which people dedicate careers to, 80,000 hours on nuclear physics, astronomy, material sciences, medicine may on the surface only be a few hundred years of work but every completed scientific career path opens up likely dozens of new related fields, nuclear science I know has several layers, sub atomic physics, quantum physics, fission physics, fusion physics, quantum computing, particle colliding, each one might only share the first 5,000 hours with any other. And merging and investigating the overlaps between disciplines could be a lifetime each in some cases too, there's thousands of years of content here
The abiogenesis project, I know enough about chemistry, physics and biology right now to start this but realistically it's gonna take trillions of experiments running for years at a time to really get it done to my satisfaction, many can be done in conjunction but still there's a lot of work in that, setting up 1 each day and reviewing the results of 1 each day that's a million years easily. Not counting the in depth investigations of more positive results and the writing down of processes and methodologies and so on
I've scratched a handful of disciplines that interest me enough that I have plans for them, art, music, theatre, movies, writing, woodwork, metal work, engineering, glass blowing, fishing, sports... There's probably 100s of niches you could dedicate a lifetime or several to and when you're bored change career or perspective. 100 years drawing every nuance of every cloud or every snowflake you see, 100 years of painting in just the style of pointillism or copying Van Gogh. 100 years of taking care of one person or and their family.
The options are endless so why do immortals ever get board
What would you do for a hundred or a thousand years if you had the opportunity?

1.
I originally went to college for computer science. Then switched to mechanical engineering. Then switched to art. Then... dropped out :V
The computer science department at the college was really bad. They didn't actually teach you anything then would act shocked when nobody knew what to do on projects and just got mad at us. I distinctly remember one test ending with a 30 point curve.
Mechanical engineering was interesting right up until it got into statics. I decided to switch after a project where we had to calculate the force and direction of the force being applied to every strut of a suspension bridge- as did about 1/3 of the class. That was stupid D:<
Art was fun.... right up until it wasn't. I finished all of the major classes for my concentration (illustration) and was then told that I would need about 3 more years of just electives because the college decided to make a change that required art degrees to need the same amount of credit hours as a nursing degree. I was in class one day in a 3D design course, working on a project where we had to twist wire together to glue tissue paper over it when I realized I was in kindergarten and decided to drop out.
2.
Despite all of that, strangely enough my work now actually requires experience from all three of my old majors. I work on video games now which involves coding, doing the artwork, and problem solving issues with a whole bunch of math.
I guess I can include past experience in the Marines in there as well as it's helping me with more detailed / functional art. So I guess we can say despite no success in any career venture prior to this, all of it is coming together in my current career. Which is kind of nice as it makes it feel like none of it was a waste of time!

TLDR: sam being prelaw has little to no impact on the narrative, there are so many other majors they could have given sam that would make more sense and be utilized in the show
in the pilot episode, we learn that sam is a prelaw student at stanford and is applying to law school. narratively, this serves the purposes of 1) showing us that that sam is very smart 2) showing us that sam is actively planning for a future that does not involve hunting. you could argue that sam picking law is also a rejection of the criminality of hunting and the way he and dean were raised by john.
overall, sam’s law school aspirations have little actual impact on the narrative. we rarely see him flex any legal knowledge or even discuss his studies (we never even learn his major!) so hypothetically, kripke could have given sam any major to accomplish the goals of 1) sam is smart and 2) sam is making life plans. so if given the option to choose for him, what career would you give sam?
i tried to include careers that are in line with sam’s characterization and could be utilized narratively in an interesting way. for example, if he were premed ur would explain how everyone gets patched up after fights, or he’s in computer science and he’s a pro hacker who always has wifi, if he’s an english major that writes horror novels based off their hunts to make money, etc

Previous | Next Episode
Hope you've enjoyed Episode 2! I took a break from the Fosters to work on a personal save file, but I'm glad to be back in the swing of things! I aim to take screenshots this week and post them (like the minis I posted last time). I'm excited for Episodes 3 and 4--I think they're going to be really fun.
Scene 4 - 183 Olde Platz, Apartment 2A | Copperdale Prep
Wolfgang: A bit chilly for May. Hopefully it’ll warm up later.
(He travels to Copperdale Prep.)
Kiernan: [Not coming to school today. Meet me at the park in Lykke after school.]
Wolfgang: [Is everything okay?]
Kiernan: {Read 7:35AM}
Wolfgang: He still hasn’t answered. How am I supposed to concentrate on the career fair?
(Students walk to the auditorium for the career fair.)
Presenter 1: Engineering is an incredibly rewarding field to get into. From computer science to electrical...
Presenter 2: At first, I wasn’t sure about medical school. I thought I wouldn’t have time to do the things I loved. Well, it turns out I was right. Ahem. As a doctor...
Presenter 3 (Joy Harjo): Are any of you foodies? I know I am. That’s why I decided that catering was the path for me. I get to snack and make money at the same...
Scene 5 - Lykke Public Park
(Wolfgang and Kiernan sit at a picnic table after school.)
Wolfgang: You want to break up.
Kiernan: Yeah.
(Kiernan gets up to leave.)
Wolfgang: So that’s it? You’re just going to dump me and then leave? I don’t even get an explanation?
Kiernan: Don’t make this harder than it has to be, Wolf.
Wolfgang: I just want to know why. I can’t lose you like this.
Kiernan: You wouldn’t understand.
Wolfgang: Help me understand.
Kiernan: Fine. You want the truth? I don’t know who I am when I’m with you. I’ve been suffering in silence for the past couple of weeks, but I can’t do it anymore. I just don’t feel right, and I can’t give you what you need anymore. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to.
Kiernan: I’m sorry, Wolf. I love you, and I always will, but I can’t be with you.
Wolfgang: Okay.
Kiernan: I don’t want you to hate me.
Wolfgang: I could never hate you. I love you, Kiernan.
Kiernan: Can we still be friends?
(They hug.)
Wolfgang: Of course.
Scene 6 - 183 Olde Platz, Apartment 2A
Mila: Made you boys some cookies. They’re on the kitchen counter.
Wolfgang (angrily): Leave me alone, Mama.
Mila (taken aback): Hey—are you all right?
(Wolfgang’s shoulders sag)
Whatever it is, it’s going to be just fine.
Wolfgang: Kiernan...he broke up with me. Out of nowhere.
Mila: Oh, Großer...
(Mila hugs her son.)
Wolfgang: I deserve this, don’t I?
Mila: No, you don’t. Your past mistakes don’t determine your future. These things happen.
It happened to me with your vater.
(Later, in the room he shares with Gunther)
Wolfgang: I told Kiernan that I understood, but I don’t. I hate him for making me feel this way.
Robin said that I would forever regret the day I cheated on him. I hate that Kiernan is proving him right.

hi cas it's career advice anon
i hope you're doing fine even with the shitty situation rn with the elections
future anon is my best friend and i mean idk if i'm happier rn than i was but i think i maybe am and honestly i feel a lot more at peace but at the same time i'm less stressed about science yes and the engineering entrance exam but my mom still wants me to have backup options for careers with my subject choice and i get why she's concerned and yes the other people have always known that they wanted to do law but no one else's parents made them make a list of backup colleges and career options. might be bc i'm from a family based in science and their families are more into humanities but yeah it's just like "what if you don't like it" but i'd be better off taking legal studies instead of physics because even if by any chance i hate it, i'd still be good at it. i don't even remember the last time i thought about space and i always told myself that physics would get better over time but this is the fourth year and it's not even remotely close to better than back in sixth grade so yeah. everyone has mixed opinions, some people are practical, others are a bit more idealistic so idk whose opinion to put my faith in bc i genuinely don't want to continue with physics but at the same time i'm worried bc what if my parents turn out to be right but as future anon said it makes no sense for me to take it and everyone interested in law is taking legal studies so logically i should but what if (what if i fall? oh, but darling, what if you fly) and i'm pretty tempted to take that leap of faith but my mom still kinda thinks that i'm dropping science because i'm "lazy" and "scared of putting in the effort required for science" and keeps saying that i'd need to study even if i took law and i know that but she thinks i'm taking it because i think it's easier (i don't). also the colleges in my country are very stupid because why would i need to give an entrance test on physics if i want to major in computer science but i'm working on finding career options and colleges where shit will work out but honestly it feels like my mom and even my dad are too focused on my backup options to actually concentrate on what i actually want to do. i want to take up legal studies, either psych or polsci, maths and computer so i can get into data science or computer science if law doesn't work out and if worst comes to worst, civil services but seriously my subject choices are supposed to be made around my backup options, which i find stupid because my mom wants five backups like okay yeah i get her concern but i'm studying to become a lawyer, not a data analyst.
sorry for the rant ik you probably have a lot on your plate rn dealing with the aftermath of the elections
Hi!
Don't be sorry at all!
So I mean I get why your mom wants you to have backups- she;s your mom and she cares. But in the end of the day, you are the one who has to live with this career, so the first person you have to please is YOU. Do what makes the most send for your goals, you know?
Is there a way to take like one backup while still focusing on law? That way you're pleasing your mom a bit while doing what you want to do?
