have u read the homestuck epilogues? what do u think of them if u have? and do u have thoughts on june egbert

when the epilogues originally dropped, i read candy but i did not go on to read meat because the experience of being a homestuck fan at the release of the epilogues was a pretty miserable and i saw no reason to prolong it.

i did not categorically hate everything the epilogues were attempting to do but i think they are fundamentally and irredeemably flawed for one extremely big reason: you can not release something as the official continuation of a work while also insisting it is not a piece of the canon. it felt like they wanted to have their cake and eat it too in a way that completely undermined the entire work. they released it with faux-ao3 tagging/styling, but weren't brave enough to actually release is on ao3. it had to be elevated Above fanwork, but if you got too upset about it they could always just point out 'well we said it wasn't canon' to deflect legitimate criticism. plain and simple, it all felt like cowardice. release something intentionally designed to provoke and antagonize a dedicated fanbase and then retreat to twitter to complain about how nobody can understand and appreciate REAL, SERIOUS, QUEER ADULT CHARACTER WRITING. but like. real, serious queer adult character writing still needs to be good and I'm not sure the homestuck epilogues Were that. having characters you know to be 100% fictional and are now being written by a brand new set of people pretty much look at the camera and say "if you think my character writing is OOC it's only because you don't respect my interiority as a human being" rang extremely fucking hollow to me.

i think it should be obvious to anyone who has been following me for any amount of time that i don't want or need sanitized and saccharine character writing to be pleased and my issue was not that the epilogues were dark, it was that they felt confused and contrived.

being a homestuck fan took up all of the formative years of my life, without exaggeration. it was the main thing i was into from ages 14-21 and has been incomparably important to me. so it's next to impossible for me to separate my feelings about my epilogues from what it felt like to be a homestuck fan during the absolute clusterfuck of these things dropping, especially since i haven't revisited them since. one event in particular that really soured me was an official homestuck team member who i was decently good friends with asking me to delete tweets i made criticizing some aspects of the epilogues. i found to be an extremely unprofessional to do as someone who is on the payroll of an IP speaking to a fan of that work, regardless of whatever terms we may have been on. additionally, i found the way she + the epilogues writers responded to criticism of the epilogues from the pretty significant demographic of teen fans on twitter to be at best condescending and at worst actively cruel.

it felt like a bunch of people who wrote shock fiction about a beloved cast of characters - something they were fully within their right to do, to be clear - but then could not handle the extremely predictable reception to it. my eventual homestuck reread is penciled in for 2029 and if i can bring myself to [re]read the epilogues at that time, im going to. we will see how my feelings change then

as for june egbert: love her, but this is once again soured by the way post-mspa era homestuck treats the concept of canonicity. john egbert is my number one favorite fictional character of all time. if you tell me "great news, she's a girl now" i am in fact overjoyed by that. i think its something that adds a lot of texture to the character. but i don't like people treating it like it's canon when it just simply isn't. i don't think you get points for portraying a transfem character until you have actually... portrayed a transfem character. i do not keep up with hs2 for reasons that are probably pretty obvious so i'm not sure if anything has changed, but to the best of my knowledge june egbert is not yet canonical there either. it's very frustrating.

but you see what i mean about canonicity: ignore the fact that we haven't discussed june egbert's gender in a single actual piece of fiction. the toblerone says she's real so she is! ignore the fact that the homestuck epilogues are official works that were on the shelves at barnes and fucking noble, they're "beyond canon" because weve put AO3 headers on. it feels like lategame homestuck treats canonicity like a switch it can flip completely independent of the works they are making, in whatever way is convenient for them. if the HS2 team (shoutout to floral, one of the best to ever do it and nobody deserves to be writing homestuck more than them) ever does get around to making june egbert canon, i will be standing by to pop bottles.

What has this fandom come to?

So i usually never post on tumblr. i've always been a silent supporter for all my fandoms from the same blog i've had since middle school, mostly supernatural and it2017, etc.

But in the past few years, ACOTAR has utterly consumed me. It got me out of a 5 year reading slump and honestly brought back my fan girl self, someone who i havent seen in a LONG time.

I didnt want any spoilers for ANYTHING, so i stayed away from all online discourse surrounding these books. I was SO SO excited when I finally finished ACOSF to come on here and once again silently watch the fandom of a series I have grown to love so much.

Boy oh boy was I utterly confused. Not that i was expecting much, but as someone who stayed far away from any outsider theories or ships or anything, i truly expected everyone or the majority of people to be on the side of elriel??? Based on the CANON (yes, CANON) scenes between the two throughout all 5 books, and SJM making it very obvious that elain and luciens mating bond is the ONLY mating bond to ever be questioned, and Feyre herself creating the most romantic and iconic couple name for them, and nesta knowing why Az was the way he was on solstice night, i just kind of assumed that everyone picked up on the fact that elriel was next?????? The same way i could tell Nesta and Cassian were next since ACOWAR. I genuinely did not think there was any other conclusion to be made. Even my friends and family who aren't online agree that elriel will be next.

So imagine my pure shock and horror i had when the first fanart of az was with gwyn of all people? never, and i mean NEVER, during ACOSF did i picture them being together. As someone who purely only read the books and based my theories on what i was READING (cough cough ACTUAL CANON), it was always az and elain, just like it was always cassian and nesta even before ACOSF, just like it was always rhys and feyre even before ACOMAF (knew he was going to be the mmc when she described him as the most beautiful person she's ever seen). From the very moment the bat boys met the archeron sisters i picked up on the theme of three, the rulers, the warriors, and the spies. "Oh but its so boring and predictable" YOURE READING A FAERIE ROMANCE SERIES WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? It's almost like symmetry and patterns are IMPORTANT to story telling. It would be so unsatisfying if it was 2 sisters and 2 brothers, and then one sister and her unwanted mate who didnt stop her from being kidnapped and dragged into the cauldron, and then one brother and this random chick who was in the last book as a side character, only there to aid the plot line of a main character. It's almost like 3 sisters and 3 brothers is the perfect way to wrap up the stories of all 3 archeron sisters.

It's been months now of me just silently watching the ship wars go down (why is this even happening, why are we shipping someone with the very person who is making her visibly uncomfortable and cave into herself, like im literally going to crash out) and i quite literally have had enough. I cant be silent anymore. This fandom is the most toxic, anti against the literal series they are reading, compared to ANY other fandom i have been it. Dont even get me started on the whole rhys is evil and the IC sucks debate. I just genuinely have never seen a fandom deny canon text so much? How. HOW??

Anyways, my point is im sick of it. Elain clearly needs as much love as possible in this toxic ass household and I will no longer be a fly on the wall to witness her abuse. I LOVE YOU, ELAIN ARCHERON. You are fierce, beautiful, powerful, and have more kindness than all antis combined. To break you down into just a mate for someone just because people think he deserves it (spoiler: he doesnt) is utterly insane, and purely misogynistic and i will NOT stand for it. I am dedicating my entire blog to her from now on (and yes that includes az too, because CANONLY they have crushes on each other and want to kiss <3) because i am so sick of the misogynistic losers bringing my poor sweet girl down every chance they get. ● He walked into Mc’s room and sees that Mc’s is still in the same part of the room that Lucifer told him to stay in.

Just to piggyback on an earlier ask, what do you dislike specifically about "event killings" in Fangans/death games?

You clearly know what you're talking about, so I'm intrigued to hear what you think.

i misread this as “you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about” and was startled LMAO

for me it’s mostly just the fact that they feel super predictable to the point where it harms the suspense. suspense isnt everything, but it definitely adds to certain scenes. suspense or lack of suspense is important in stories that involve surprises (such as dead bodies) so when a trope becomes oversaturated in the genre, it can affect that suspense quite a bit!

like if im playing a fangan, and they’re like “let’s put on a play!!” you know somebody is dying at the play. the suspense is gone because you’re just waiting for it to happen while knowing for sure it’ll happen. it takes away from whatever’s actually happening in the scene and turns it into a big Waiting Fest.

i think this can be pulled off effectively under other circumstances! if you can subvert expectations in a way that’s still interesting, that works well! example: BDA 4. you know somebody is going die, but given the patterns, you expect that tsuno and wada will walk in on a dead body. you KNOW somebody will die, so you’re just waiting for it to happen, just like the play. the shock comes from the fact that they don’t walk in on the body: one of them dies right there on screen. expectation subverted while still being interesting!!

of course im not the genre master or anything; these are just my thoughts! i think pretty much ANYTHING can work if done well, its just that most of the time it is NOT done well

SUMMARY:  Gabin is not a freely loving person- he doesn't know how to be. He is brash and he is self-centered and cocky, and above all else he is proud. So when he loves something, truly, it is done with just as much intensity. How lucky is he, then, to find someone who loves him back just as fiercely?

It's barely a mumble, muffled against Gabin's chest in the sleepy hour. The dancer keeps running his fingers through the short strands of hair, with his other hand behind his head.

"mm..? Why are you asking?" this comes out sleepy too, because it is late and he is comfortable cuddled with his lover on his bed.

"I have to go back to New York at some point," Tobias quietly points out, and now he's picking at the seam of Gabin's sleep shirt.

He's nervous. Worried.

The dancer takes a deep breath, just to feel the way the man using him as a pillow moves up, and slides his hand down to the back of his lover's neck.

It's tense there, the muscle, and resistant to the way Gabin tries to thumb it loose again. Hm.

"Do you want us to work long distance, Tobias?"

Because he has to know, he has to know if chasing for so long was worth it- if he was worth it in turn to the choreographer.

Please say yes, he thinks, please let me stay.

"Of course I do."

Gabin releases the air in his chest, and sinks under the weight on it.

"Then we will." he'll make sure of it.

"But what if we don't?"

"Tobias," the dancer has never heard his lover take this tone before, not one so- so.. small. He doesn't like it.

And it's not an easy thing, coaxing his lover to look at him, but this is clearly a converation they need to have face to face. So, Gabin takes his hand from behind his head, and he takes the one on tense muscle, and he places them both on his lover's waist.

Tobias moves as the dancer guides him, until he's left sitting up on Gabin's stomach.

The dancer slides his hands down to his lover's knees, snugly pressed to either side of his ribs, and then back up to his sides to thumb hopefully comforting circles, "Talk to me, Top G- Tobias."

Nicknames didn't feel right at the moment.

Not with the way his choreographer's hands shake atop Gabin's chest. Not with the way he's curling into himself.

"Where is the coming from, hm?" the dancer asks again, trying to catch his eye.

"Nothing, nowhere, I'm fine," and that is so unbelievably untrue that it's almost laughable, "We're fine."

That is more true. But-

"What does that saying even mean-?"

"My ex and I were long distance," he blurts out, in a rush of words, "At least I thought we were? But apparently hadn't talked in a year, and he got engaged. We're invited to that wedding, by the way, I didn't know how to tell you."

He blinks. Opens his mouth-

"I broke up with him, officially, a few days before the show.."

He closes his mouth.

That is... a lot. Okay. Out of everything Tobias could've said, everything the dancer could've predicted, that.. that was not high on the list. None of that was.

Wow.

Anger sparks hot in his chest. Sharp and familiar like a knife digging into the soft bone of his sternum and carving it clean open.

"Your ex got engaged while he was still dating you?" Who does that?

Assholes, assholes who don't deserve brilliant choreographers.

"Well, he thought-"

"Ah- ah- ah, I do not care what he thought," Gabin huffs, furious on his lover's behalf, "You were together, yes?"

With his head hung towards his chest, like he's finally hearing it, he answers, "...yeah. But-"

"Your ex is an asshole."

Gentling his words, or himself, has never been one of Gabin's specialties. Everything he did, everything he loved, had always been with his full heart- regardless if it smothered everything else.

Ballet, dance, boxing. The stage.

Anger, in the same vein it seems, came just as easily. Hatred. But Gabin was already well aware of that.

How could someone who had Tobias, just- just-

The weight on his stomach shifts forward the smallest bit. And it seems appreciation is something Gabin can feel just as deeply as anything else.

It's a wonder he found someone like this man, who takes everything Gabin can give him and only adds to it. A beautiful wonder.

Tobias sits back up, leaving only the warmth of his lips lingering on the dancer's cheek and nearly unbearable adoration swelling in his chest.

"In Kevin's defense, we hadn't talked in a year. He thought we had broken up." his lover says, like it'd sway him in any way.

"Bullshit," Gabin scoffs, "So you did not reach out. Did he?"

And Kevin was a stupid name. For the record.

"..No."

"Then he is an asshole, who cheated on you. And we would absolutely work long distance- your phone would be going off constantly."

The anxious edges surrounding Tobias soften slightly, and melt completely as Gabin slides his hand up to the back of his neck again and brushes his thumb over the dip of his jaw.

Softness suits him, the dancer thinks.

"It would?"

Gabin is helpless to the besotted smile that he knows curls over his face- helpless to the love he feels for this man.

"It would," he says, reeling his lover in close enough that their noses start to slot together, "You would be sick of me."

"Mm.."

And the sound conveys everything Tobias himself cannot- skeptical and low in his throat and full of love.

Impossible, it says.

Gabin loves him. So much that it hurts, so much that he needs to-

"Kevin is a boring name, by the way."

"Is it?" it's Tobias that bumps their foreheads together.

So much that he needs to...

"Mhm, you shouldn't say it anymore."

Gabin kisses him with a breathless laugh between their lips. He loves this man, loves the way his weight feels over him, loves even more how it feels to flip them around and press the choreographer into the mattress.

Loves how he's allowed to. And how his skin tastes. And the softness of his hair between his fingers.

Tobias' hands smooth firmly up Gabin's back, all the way up to his shoulders to pull him closer. To connect their lips again and again.

Kevin's name isn't mentioned anymore that night.

They thought the same way, on some scale. And he was a much better conversation partner. For- you know- speaking mostly french.

Anyway-

Tobias feels around his neck, presses his fingers to the tender skin that should be covered by the soft collar of- wait.

Okay he's wearing his own jacket.

Only- no, no he's not, because the only black jacket he owns is a sort of faded out jean one with studs on the colllar that he always wears over long sleeves and this one is a cozy sort of cotton that feels nice against his arms.

Soft.

And warm, like his bed was last night. Like his chest when Gabin said they’d make this thing between them work, even if they did it kicking and screaming.

Like his face, when his fingers find the still there indent of teeth just to the side of the nape of his neck.

“I got bit by a dog.”

And that dog would be sleeping on the couch the next time he came over. Every work night for the forseeable future.

Geneviève blinks at him, with that weird little head lurch she does when she thinks she's heard something wrong, "I'm- sorry, a dog? Bit... your neck?"

What was her obsession with his neck all of a sudden?

But also this was not a conversation he wanted to have with his... well, she wasn't his boss. Jack was his boss. Surrogate boss..? Stand-in?

Whatever-

"Why are you in my rehearsal room?"

He hadn't done anything, he thinks. Now that he's familiar with the dancers, he doesn't have to call everybody in all at the same time. So it can't be that.

Either way, the french director drops the subject. At least for now. Judging by the look Raph-something and her share, though, it would be probably brought up later.

Probably in their office or wherever.

That thought settles somewhere uncomfortable in him, a dull spike atop his stomach pushing into his diaphragm.

"One of the speakers blew out- in here," Geneviève explains, finally, and- what?

What.

"It'll be fixed by tomorrow, at the absolute latest, so there's no need to worry about it disrupting rehearsals."

Except-

Dancers start filtering into the room, and apparently Geneviève [plus her assistant, good riddance] takes that as her cue to start leaving instead of explaining any further. What happened to the speaker?

What was he supposed to do? Have them dance in silence?

Cancel rehearsal?

Tobias goes to follow her, because how is he supposed to operate in these conditions[?] but Gabin walks in right as Geneviève gets to leave.

And then it all goes to shit.

"Ah- bonjour, chien." she says, slowly and purposefully dictated- like her words were meant purely for the one American in the room with his very limited understanding of french.

Good morning, dog.

Dog. Chien.

"I got bit by a dog." "Bonjour, chien."

Oh.. okay.

So this is what hell felt like.

The dancer tells her good morning in turn, in that ridiculously endearing high voice- the one he only uses when he's confused about something.

"...why did Geneviève just call me a dog?"

He can't do this.

Tobias puts his headphones on and powerwalks out the still swinging doors.

Alright so when it comes to kink its worth asking what normal is. Is normal average? Because there's lots of kink activity thats not average or common, but that doesn't make it wrong to do with caution and consent.

Second consideration: is it safe? No. But a lot of kink play isn't safe, and neither is vanilla sex.

Choking as an example is a really risky kind of play. If you don't know how to position your hand you could easily damage the trachea, and you really dont want someone without oxygen for long because brain damage could occur. Someone should never be allowed to pass out from choking, thats an extreme risk.

There are safer ways of choking, like compressing the blood vessels in the side of the neck, but it's not risk free. The safest option is covering their mouth and nose but that's also not risk free.

Similarly, slapping in the face can cause injury to the neck if you dont brace their head, and it can bust an eardrum if your hand hits in the wrong place.

I think of most kink like bungee jumping or scuba diving. If you do it with knowledge and caution things shouldn't go wrong, but sometimes even with experience people doing everything right mistakes can happen. That's why you sign a consent waiver.

The approach I take is called RACK- Risk Aware Consensual Kink. It means you want to always be knowledgable about what risk could occur, you want to take all reasonable safety measures, and you want everyone involved to be freely consenting with full awareness of that risk.

In terms of knife or bloodplay specifically we're talking about something on the riskier side. Specifically you need to worry about blood-born illness and the possibility of infection from unclean equipment, you need to know exactly where and how deep to cut so you can avoid arteries or significant blood loss, and you need to be aware of the fact that just dropping or slipping with a knife could cause real injury.

Psychological Safety

Beyond that knives and being cut are things that cause real visceral reactions in people. Its really really hard to predict how you or someone else is going to react to that, and whenever you're doing kink of any kind you need to be ready for the possibility of a psychological response that means you have to stop and give or receive care.

That counts for both the cutter and the one being cut, sub and top drop are real things, so even if the scene itself goes well its really important to check in with each other and take care after it happens.

I personally have been hit with immense feelings of guilt after a scene that was fully consensual and went well. I had fun while i was doing it and so did my partner, but it's also a lot of adrenaline and when that wears off sometimes self-judgment creeps in.

As kinky people we're constantly fighting against societal perceptions of us as morally problematic, and sometimes that crashes in on you. Luckily I've had partners i could check in with, who would reassure me that they had fun and I'm not a monster.

The sub might also have feelings of guilt or self judgment after a scene, but also any cutting or blood loss carries the risk of shock, so it important to make sure you have something like juice on hand for them after, to make sure they can get their blood sugar up. It's also important to make sure cuts are properly cleaned and bandaged after.

In general you only want to do this with someone you trust deeply and feel comfortable speaking up to if something is wrong. Its extremely important to be able to communicate openly and honestly with anyone you're going to do kink with.

Physical Safety

In terms of physical safety, it's best to do this with someone you're fluid bonded to. Fluid bonding is mutual consent that your bodily fluids can be in contact with each other, often this means cum but it can mean blood too.

The reason this is important is because bodily fluids can carry STIs and other infections. You want to get fully tested (including hepatitis and HIV, which aren't always routinely tested for) before fluid bonding with someone. If you have multiple partners it's important to always get tested again between them. Always be aware of what you may be exposing yourself to, and know that even being as careful as possible doesn't completely eliminate risk.

If you or your partner is on blood thinners, has drank alcohol, or has something that causes excess bleeding or difficulty clotting its probably best to avoid this entirely.

Otherwise is also very important to be knowledgable and careful about where and how you're cutting. You want to be knowledgable and careful about your equipment too, because something like a little rust could cause tetanus.

Even if you dont buy the book, just scroll down. It's got extensive information about how to choose equipment, safety in terms of where you're cutting and how, as well as other risks to be aware of and what to do in an emergency.

I cant lie, it's a lot of information and you need to know it all. Knife-play is a fairly advanced kind of kink, and its one of those things that requires a lot of studying (in case you didnt know most kinksters are fucking nerds).

Its more information than I feel like I can reproduce here, and honestly that resource has it all written out really clearly.

General advice

This is already in that resource but I'm going to talk about it anyway: if you're going to do this, start slow. You don't know how you or your partner will react, so start with something that you cant really cut with. If you cover someone's eyes, a cold butterknife can feel like its cutting without actually doing so. Its never safe to put a real knife to someone's throat so this is how I get around that. Knife play is a kind of fear play so creating an illusion works well. Ill show my partner a real knife, cover their eyes, and switch it out for something safer.

Even if you aren't doing that kind of thing though, start out with something relatively hard to cut with. You can find wooden or acrylic knives like these:

Which can break the skin with enough pressure but aren't as dangerous as something sharp and metal. You'll likely want to avoid actually cutting at first, try just running the knife over skin or scratching with it to get a sense of how it feels and how you react.

You also want to pick something small, light, and easy to control. The buck knife they use in debaser is what I would call an extremely risky option. It's heavy, large, and the curve of the blade makes it hard to control if you don't really know what you're doing.

If you get to the point of actually cutting its worth also going very slow and light, different peoples skin vary in thickness, some people slice more easily than others, different people bleed at different rates too, and you can always cut more but you can never cut less. It can also help to restrain the person being cut, minimizing any sudden movements that could knock a knife out of position.

Talking to you partner

So yeah, this part is important. Its always scary bringing up a new kink with a partner, and I think that goes double for stuff like this that might freak people out. Im lucky in having had some really kinky partners who were very into the idea, so it felt relatively safe to talk about.

It helps if you can explain why you want it, what you would get out of it. For me it's partly the fucked-upness and the fear reaction, as well as some knife and blood fetishism. But it's also the immense trust I'm being given when my partner lets me do this. Im not joking when I say it feels incredibly romantic to me, and I genuinely enjoy patching them up after.

Beyond that though, I think its important to recognize that consent is an ongoing practice. You never want to do something like this if both parties aren't fully in for it, and you always want to make sure you're doing it on a day you both feel healthy and ready for it. It's fine to put things off even if you made a plan, and you should always feel safe backing out even after giving consent.

To summarize:

You aren't fucked up for wanting this, and it doesn't need to be normal to be ok to want it. Trauma can happen when you're doing this, but trauma can happen during vanilla sex too. Whats important is being knowledgable, having clear and honest communication and mutual care. So yeah, go forth, be as safe as you can, but don't forget to have fun 🖤

My thoughts on the SOTR Castings

Since we have all/ most of the castings for the SOTR movie I thought, id give my thoughts!

Haymitch Abernathy:

Now im not gonna lie, I am disappointed but not surprised that they made Haymitch white and blonde.. again. I would've liked to finally see book accurate Haymitch. But if he does a good a job as Woody I suppose I can't be to disappointed. Now I don't actually know much about Joseph Zada acting- wise , but I've been looking up some of his other projects and he seems like a pretty good actor.

Overall I'm pretty okay with this casting.

Lenore Dove Baird:

I actually think Whitney Peak is a great casting appearance wise. I do hope the tint of red in her hair is included, maybe as highlights or a wig. Once again I'm not super familiar with her acting but from what I have seen she's also a pretty good actress. I am happy that LionsGate did choose an actress who looks similar to Rachel Zegler, Since Lucy Grey and Lenore Dove are related.

Overall I'm very happy with this casting, I hope she does Lenore Dove justice.

Maysilee Donner:

I cannot explain to y'all how much I happy I was to see McKenna cast as Maysilee. I was hoping for either McKenna or another actress, so i'm very happy to see that one of the two got it! I am hoping they include the braids in her hair, I know it's not in the book but it'd be such a nice detail!! I do actually know about McKenna grace acting wise, and I believe she'll be a great Maysilee. Very excited to see Drusilla slapped on screen.

Louella McCoy & LouLou:

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't super shocked over Louella and LouLou's casting. I didn't hc them as white, but it's not a huge deal, my head cannon was very different tbh. At first I thought their skin colors were actually stated in the book, they were not so I was wrong there. I had hc Louella and LouLou as black or indigenous, so the actresses being white had thrown me off at first. Maybe that's because of how Katniss and Gale were described in the original trilogy and them having the 'seam look'? Obviously not everyone from the seam is gonna look the same tho.

I would've like to see more diversity in the movies (main& side character wise) regardless, if i'm remembering correctly there's Boggs, Beetee, Enobaria, Rue, Thresh, Cinna, Chaff and a lot of now Wyatt and Lenore. which is not alot please lmk if i'm forgetting someone tho!

I also was confused over two actresses playing Louella and LouLou, it's not a huge deal but I am still curious. The actresses still look very similar so it's not a big deal obviously. I was just curious since the only difference I can remember is the scar. Haymitch does say anyone who knows her would tell the difference, so maybe the two actresses will work really well for that? Its a very small thing to nit pick but im still curious why.

I've never actually seen either of these two act, but im sure they'll do great.

Overall this might be one of the few castings that I'm the most shocked/ iffy about. Purely because of my own head canons! I'm sure the actresses themselves are great and no hate to them ofc. *I did re-write a good bit of this section after posting it, since I messed up my tone, came off super angry over it, and I didn't actually convey my thoughts. I also got ALOT of details wrong!! so I wanted to correct that!*

Wyatt Callow

I don't think this is a terrible casting, I'll be honest at first I didn't put character who's good with number and predictions +Asian actor. But after all the posts, I've seen I did put two and two together. I'm gonna be hopeful and say it wasn't the intention to have the only Asian actor(that we know of) play the guy good with calculating odds. I do see how it can be seen though.

Now I will say we didn't get a very in depth description of Wyatt like Louella. So there's not too much for me to say, I'm still disappointed we're getting nobody who looks like they're from the seam but I digress. I will say he doesn't not look like how he's described. then again we only get black hair and a big maybe stocky I don't remember exactly the build he has. If I'm forgetting more about how he's described please correct me!

Acting wise I (once again) don't know much about Ben wang, nor have I seen him in much, but I have faith he'll do a great job.. if Lionsgate doesn't destroy our boy. I have a feeling they might give him the Peeta treatment and take a lot of his personality away, i'm hoping i'm wrong but we won't know until the movies released.

Overall I don't think it's a bad casting. I do see and agree that theres issues with having the only asian actor play the character who's good at calculating odds. Hopefully they explain on Wyatt's character so that's not his only trait.

Effie Trinket

I can't believe they listened to us, i'm really excited about this casting as well. I think that Elle Fanning is a fantastic younger Effie, she looks a lot like Elizabeth so they match up appearance wise. And Elle Fanning is the actress who I'm most familiar with, and she's a fantastic actress. So I have no doubts that she'll do amazing.

Overall this might be the casting I'm the most happy with!

President Snow:

Oh boy what a double edged sword this is, I'll start with the positives then ill talk about my issues.

Ralph Fiennes is an excellent actor and he's does look like snow. If you put him, Donald, and Tom side by side I can definitely see the resemblance. And I can believe that they are all snow while watching the films. Ralph is undeniably an excellent actor, he did a great job as Voldemort, and many of his other roles. I do like him being cast as our favorite evil dictator who's still upset over his situationship that ended 64 years ago.

Now my only issue with this casting, is Ralph Fiennes himself. He's openly defended JK Rowling, stating"abuse directed at her is disgusting". Mind you she received this 'abuse' after repeatedly being transphobic. Now even giving him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't know why she was receiving the hate, he could easily educate himself and make another statement.

Overall He will likely do an excellent job as snow, but i'm still disappointed he was cast.

Wiress:

I'm gonna be honest I didn't see Maya Hawke as her at all, but after seeing her side by side with catching fire Wiress I see it. I think she'll fit fairly well, and I think she'll do a great job. I'm hoping we get some flashbacks or scenes of wires games tho!!!

Overall I don't have too much to say about this casting, and im pretty happy about it.

Betee Latier:

Omg Kelvin looks just like him, so perfect casting appearance wise. Kelvin is also a great actor so im sure he'll play Beetee well.

Once again I don't have too much to say about this casting, but im happy with this casting.

Mags Flanagan:

I have basically nothing to say, the actress has been in a lot of amazing projects, so I have faith she'll do great as Mags.

Plutarch & Ceaser:

Both actors are fantastic, I'm putting the two together since im basically saying the same for both. Im happy with both castings.

I like nearly all of the castings, I have my issues ofc. I'm happy regardless since we are getting a film.
