Why am I even so desperate for this. Out of all the things that I could get stubborn determination over why is it this. Is it because I know the end result would bring me so much silly enjoyment that my brain has sheer will to want to get to that? Why am I. Even so glued to getting a dumb 3D model of him to mess with. Is it cause it gives me something to do? Something to accomplish or fail at or to just not be wasting away time?

I posted a picture of my boi in his unfired state a while ago but I completely forgot to post the finished pics! Here he is, in all his chompy glory!

About 45cm worth of clay alligator who survived the firing despite frankly terrible odds x) I wanted to challenge myself to something a little harder and ho boy did I. This little guy was a lot more work than I though he'd be! Took me something like 15 hours of work. But look at him, he came out great!

… I have no idea where to put him now.

WARNING: this will contain facesitting, power imbalance, and Lux being the little asshole he is.

But omgggg, now that he’s HUGE and in 3D. I feel like face sitting would be a big YES for him.

Like when he had first turned 3D, and looked down at you for the first time. OH BOY, you could physically see a lightbulb on top of his head.

I wrote it out bcuz why not LOLOLOL.

Lux had made the mistake of accidentally bathing in the sun.

This all had happened when he fell asleep, after playing many rounds of chess with you, underneath an open window. When he fell asleep, it was nighttime. So him falling asleep in the moonlight occurred often. But today, it seemed like he was extra tired knowing that he fell asleep through his transformation.

He soon woke il feeling a little, different. Feeling a little bigger than usual, feeling a little more…3D.

(A/N: Ik Lux used the Doctors light to build a body, but idk how else Lux would have built one in this. So him bathing in sunlight was the only thing that popped up in my little head.)

You were currently organizing some film to Mr. Pyes request. The poor man hasn’t had any sleep in days, hopefully you can at least get some stuff off of his plate so he can take care of himself.

Lux was currently somewhere doing anything he can on his mind. Which even makes you wonder what he does for fun around here.

You simply shrugged it off and continued your work. Humming a soft tune to help with the quiet atmosphere around here.

“Oh~Sunshine!~”

Damn it…

“Yes, Lux?” You answered in the room, waiting for his answer across the hall. You wondered if he was going to bother you about the light again and how they were too dim, or maybe how he has been so bored lately, maybe he going to bother you about another game of Jacks.

“Can you be a lovely doll and come here? I just want to see my beautiful ray of sunshine! The light of my life! My firefly in the night-sky! My beloved!-”

“Okay-Okay, i’m coming!”

You let out an exaggerated sigh as you put down the film onto a nearby table. Ever since Lux showed up, you can’t get any work done. You didn’t know if it was a good thing or a bad thing.

You made your way our the room and into the theater itself. Giving out a light stretch before addressing the toon that craved your attention.

“Okie Dokie Lux, what do you- WHAT THE F-!”

“Surprise!~”

And there he was, in all of his monstrously huge glory. Standing on the stage of the theater room, if he reached his hands up, he could definitely reach the roof. Lux was roughly about 10+ feet taller than you.

Lux looked different but the same at the same time. Lux was so detailed, to the bottoms of his feet to the tips of his antennas. It freaked you out, very much so that you subconsciously started to step back away from him.

Lux saw this, of course. Yet he couldn’t help but feel worried or smug about this. He can tell his new form made you uneasy, but he couldn’t hell but feel a sense of pride in that. Lux didn’t want you to run away in feel of him.

Lux needed a way to make you feel comfortable with him.

Locking his eyes back to you, he finally realized how small you were in-front of him. Your small form slightly quivering before him, and oh how it was adorable…

…Bingo.

“Oh sweetheart, why don’tcha’ come down here to the stage…” Lux taunted, trying to get you to come closer to him.

You whimpered quietly as you saw him take a step forward towards you. If he was smaller, it would have been 4 or 5 steps. But since he’s bigger, all it took was one.

You took a couple of steps back. You weren’t stupid enough to not get what he was trying to do. Lux had something in mind, something you couldn’t quite figure out. And you didn’t know if you wanted to stay any longer to find out.

“N-no, I’m good here thanks…” You muttered out. You made the mistake of turning your head to lock eyes with the door to escape. As soon as you did, you heard loud and quick footsteps run towards you.

Seeing a huge, 3D Ring-A-Ding run towards you full speed and grab you like you were a stuffed tog was not on your bingo card today…

A large hand was wrapped around your body, its three fingers both held you steady and kept you from pushing away any further. They also had enough grip to you lift your shirt up just a little.

It was Lux’s enormous hand that kept you in place. Keeping you from wiggling and writhing away from him. Or, in better explanation, his mouth.

Lux sat back onto the theatre stage, lying back far enough to crane his neck upwards so you can be positioned just above his face.

His huge tongue licked and prodded at your lower half, licking and sucking you bare. And of course, Lux did it with the brightest smile on his face, like he was eating a full course meal.

Just seeing you, head tilted back with the most loveliest moans that rolled off of that sweet tongue of yours. Your face skewered in pleasure, and not a word formed out of your mouth other than many yes’s and please’s. And by the stars, how he loved every single bit of it.

The sight of your little body above his face, with those little cries of yours. He would simply parish right then and there. You were just so cute, wiggling in pleasure in his hand, pushing and pulling his fingers near you and away from you. Lux just wanted to crush you from how adorable you are…

He didn’t know how long he has been at it, but it didn’t matter. Just as long as he tasted your sweet nectar more than once, he can live a perfect life.

He too felt himself moans in delight at the taste of you. Never once in his existence has he tasted anything like yours, and Lux made sure he was going to savor every last bit of it.

You, however, couldn’t decide if you’re were uneasy with the situation, or loving it. Your instincts had told you to run and get away from Lux. Hovering above his mouth, it was like you were prey, ready to get devoured whole.

Yet your body betrayed you, feeling all sorts of pleasure coming from Lux quickly shut down those instincts real quick. And honestly, with how big Lux is and how small you were compared to him. It sort of pleased you in way. You didn’t know why, but you’ll focus more on that thought after Lux is done with you.

Now for the other bit, I’m not sure how to start it but I’m just going to throw in some little points of how it would be like. 😭

I feel like he would be so into it, taking you in this bigger form. But you are SO quick to tear it down.

This toon is over 10 feet tall, just imagine what he’s packing underneath. Let’s be real here, you’re going to rip in half.

Gonna write a little scene of it anyway…

“Lux, I don’t think we can do this...” You nervously chuckled out. Nervously glancing at Lux and his ‘joy stick’.

Lux currently still hand you in his grasp, but he laid you down onto a blanket that was laid on the stage floor. He was still lining you down nevertheless.

His regions, however, was literally the size of your leg if not more. You didn’t plan to die today, so you did not want to take that chance.

After a while of thinking, Lux just ended up grinding his shaft on your smaller form until he finished. And oh boy, you were covered in it.

So taking Lux in his huge ass 3D form, is a no. Because let’s be honest, no human can take more than 30 inches.

But the toon still has fun eating you to the bone. :))

I think it's REEALLLLYYY fucking funny how you are asking me if I'm okay after dropping one of the most angsty scenarios I have ever written so far BAHAHAHAHA but yes yes, I'm surviving, I drew so much today and I really enjoyed it, hehe. Here you go, dear anon! I hope you are doing okay, thank you for requesting! <3

Obviously a warning here for death stuff skskss please take care of yourselves, readers! Don't force yourself to read if you feel uncomfortable, even a little bit!!

-Recording episodes would be something all the toons would try and do with the help of staff. It would be for the children to watch and learn many things from it, after all. They needed to do this a lot so the staff would gather footage and everything they could to turn it into an educational show while also making it fun for the little kids. A cast of colorful characters going on adventures or teaching lessons to everyone who happened to watch the show. A simple show that even a parent could sit back and relax watching it.

-The whole thing would be quite impressive too, a lot of cameras and staff making sure everything goes smoothly. They tried setting up the scenes and background behind so the vibe was definitely there. It could be drawings or even actually outside or somewhere in Gardenview. Sometimes they even recorded episodes in places the toons felt most comfortable with as well. Arthur did say to the staff that they don't want unhappy toons in here. Delilah didn't care as long as work was getting done smoothly, even watching from the sides as the toons she created said lines and jumped around happily.

-Even if the episodes were never in 3D, they did this to capture the voice of the toons clearly and have a whole video to use for reference when animating the show. To also capture how each toon moves or changes expression to make it accurately. It worked wonders, actually, the many cameras would capture the toons in their glory, in many angles and especially their expressions clearly. Even the way their expressions would change or how they stood or even what they did when it wasn't their turn to speak, they captured all of it for the animators. The toons could act however they felt like as long as they followed the script.

-You and Dandy would obviously be picked for almost every single episode, you would often accompany him in his little adventures and were eager to say your lines together as you interacted happily. It even got the staff smiling as they recorded and did their job, some scenes would need to be recorded again as sometimes the staff would get distracted. Honestly, could you really blame them? The toons looked so alive and everything, especially you two, who happened to also be married, it really got them feeling amazed a lot.

-Everything was fine, of course, it wasn't like they were any actual serious problems. Yes, Shrimpo would be grumpy here and there or a toon would forget lines often or something but it wouldn't cause much of a problem. They could take a quick break or a staff can go in and help a toon rehearse their lines quickly. Thankfully video wasn't always needed, just the staff capturing the toon saying it perfectly. With the amount of staff in such a huge place in there, things got to work fast, Delilah made sure of it as well.

-It wasn't until one sunny day, no one really seemed to notice that a specific piece seemed.. a little off. You really had to look hard at it to understand that it would fall out eventually though the staff seemed to brush it aside, thinking nothing of it, going along with their day. Little did they know that this mistake would cause something horrible. It was their job to make sure everything was okay, so if something went wrong, it would be on them. Who knows what exactly made them feel a bit lazy to check this time, was it Delilah and her being a bit pushy about everything being perfect? They just thought it looked fine? Who knew, really.

-Nothing seemed wrong at first, of course. The recording went just fine, you were saying your lines perfectly, even doing your signature poses or smiles as you and Dandy were talking about the situation in front of you two. The last thing you could see was Dandy flinching, frowning suddenly as he looked at something behind you. You felt confused before the heavy piece hit you, crushing your poor body instantly, ichor spilling around immediately. Dandy took slow steps back as he breathed heavily, watching how staff surrounded you immediately as he gripped his arms shakily.

-Dandy was trembling as he just watched all the staff trying to take off the heavy piece off of your body, ichor messing everything up and spreading on the floor. Delilah picked you up in her arms with a thin line on her lips before covering you with something she found nearby so no one else would see your uhh.. let's say ending. Dandy tried to desperately follow her before Arthur placed a firm hand on his shoulder, holding him back. It worked since Dandy was feeling very unwell at the moment, his eyes watching your hand that was sticking out, with the same ring he proposed to you with long ago. He just stood still as quiet tears fell out of his eyes as he shook, his hands becoming tight fists.

-It was safe to say that he didn't cope well after your passing, your shared room felt so.. empty. Nothing felt the same anymore. No one would ever thought of this situation happening in such a safe place like Gardenview, especially with so many staff making sure the place run well. Arthur would check on him and made sure he ate still as he felt very worried for Dandy while Delilah was basically nonexistent for a good while now. Only few other toons knew what happened to you because if everyone heard what happened, it would truly cause panic in this place. Arthur would try coming up with any excuse he could and told every staff not to say a word to the poor toons.

-He didn't know if you could ever be back but he hoped.. silently. He knew toons were made by Delilah so maybe something could be done. He just hoped.. you still had all your memories, if you ever happened to come back. He didn't know how he would actually handle it if you actually forgot about him, about everything here. All he could do right now is hug Pebble close to him as he stroked his little head. They both silently cried as they rested in the room after that traumatic event. Dandy longed for you and focused on taking care of Pebble now. He would have to ask for Astro's help to get even a wink at night, because he felt absolutely restless when he couldn't hold you close to him anymore and drift to sleep easily.

Bast ( @purpledemonart / @purpledemoncat ) has painted my Sooga figurine—here he is in all his glory!! Just look at all that detail she put in, from the rivets on his belts to the inlay on his mask to the patterns and metal on his Swords of Valiance and their scabbards! Her pan pastel shading is gorgeous, really making him look like a breathing character in an environment, not just an action figure.

Once again, my girl has really outdone herself to create a one-of-a-kind art piece for me. From commissioning a 3D modeler for this custom sculpt and a printer to make it a physical object, to painting him and getting him ready for display, Bast took a lot of care with this project and I can’t thank her enough.

e-soul, what's his deal? spoilers for ep.4 and 5 trailer - big analysis post. ~1300 words

so, the slight difference in colors DOES matter. I thought they were just like, time-related or maybe changed based on if powers were being used, but no. interestingly we have seen both these designs in 3d/canon - the gray one in the trailers and the blue/yellow one in episode 3.

i think it's safe to say that at least in some way, Blue and Gray are two different entities, but a ton of other Crazy Director Li Bullshit is totally possible alongside this.

he's got some kind of themes with duality. yk, just maybe. easiest answer is that "oh he's got an evil half" but that seems too straightforwards? i find it really interesting that in ep.3, his "nemesis" that firm man kills on accident looks like him! presumably on purpose for some aesthetic reason.

Section 1: the random guy from the trailer!

off the new episode preview, it seems like the pov we follow is gonna be some guy who also becomes e-soul, somewhat similar to nice. most likely, he becomes Blue E-soul.

in episode 3, Firm Man is called to help out E-soul who is listed with "mighty glory" despite him being with Treeman. so organizations do work together to some extent? put a pin in this!

he looks like such a loser... and notably he has all his limbs intact whereas gray e-soul has fake arm(s?).

we get a good bit of his backstory:

Gray E-soul probably saved him - while being incredibly sus and murdery.

so, no way to know if this guy even LIKES e-soul. he either idolizes him or he's traumatized.

i mean. he does follow his example, so maybe he got inspired, but im getting ahead of myself

He's got a friendship with some little kid who looks like Lin Ling! they could be brothers - maybe this is the answer to what happened to Lin Ling's family after he faked his death? this would also affect L0 in hindsight because he's not just a "normal guy". this could also just be some other kid.

Section 2: OG E-soul

straight-up, Gray E-Soul is probably old. hella old. maybe even pre-commission, whatever the "commission" is. he's described as a "hero of legend".

Gray E-soul seems morally gray as well, seen by how he's totally killing those guys in front of a child. which, TOTALLY made me instantly think: what if Gray E-soul isn't even an actual hero (unlikely) but instead just Blue E-soul's inspiration. OR vice-versa. maybe his methods are really brutal/controversial. maybe he's retiring.

something related to this might be the cause of this line:

E-soul also has associations with the cross! i'm not religious and I don't know what that symbolizes, but it did set off analysis alarm bells.

ALSO. this could be interpreted heavily as a cross, but i see it more as a four-point star thingy. which idk what that could mean on it's own, except i dont have to because

X is already associated with this! and also, associated with THIS GUY, who e-soul fights in the pv!

Section 3: Zero + Singularity Theory

I'll call him Zero because that's the only name we got. it's possible "gray e-soul" is actually Zero and blue e-soul is e-soul but... idk doubt it. this guy has a ton of religious imagery. loads. they seem to be like... black hole related?

Zero seems to have this false savior kind of vibe in their creepy human form. in general, they seem a lot more large-scale + cosmic than anyone we've seen so far (except X, maybe?)

the first concept I thought of was the technological singularity.

wikipedia blurb that explains everything actually:

"The technological singularity—or simply the singularity[1]—is a hypothetical point in time at which technological growth becomes uncontrollable and irreversible, resulting in unforeseeable consequences for human civilization.[2][3] According to the most popular version of the singularity hypothesis, I. J. Good's intelligence explosion model of 1965, an upgradable intelligent agent could eventually enter a positive feedback loop of successive self-improvement cycles; more intelligent generations would appear more and more rapidly, causing a rapid increase ("explosion") in intelligence which would culminate in a powerful superintelligence, far surpassing all human intelligence.[4]"

this could be relevant because E-soul is literally like. electric and cyborg, but also! A singularity is the thing we theorize to be at the center of a black hole.

the singularity is increasingly talked about especially regarding AI, and the point where AI becomes self-sufficient/aware. This could be really juicy commentary, and personal character angst for og e-soul if he ends up not being totally organic and super duper old.

something something singularity -> technology -> X

The singularity could be good, or bad. paired with E-soul's duality theme, and X's weird 1 frame cutaway with this guy in the opening, well.

X can break the fourth wall. for a character in a story, isn't awareness kind of like the Ultimate Knowledge? ultimate intelligence - like a singularity. whoever holds the title of X gets stronger and stronger every year, with the popularity of Heroes increasing and people constantly getting stronger. I think this is the cycle where X has reached a turning point.

X is also constantly seen on electric billboards and drinking his drinks lmfao. that theory where he's a mascot, omg i can't find it in all the posts but credit to that person @warabito!! it's been living in my head rent free. if X is a created hero that would certainly fit this!! literal singularity.

explosions - Zero, but also the sudden explosion in trust value for X.

Meanwhile, I think Zero is the reason for the commission. X and Zero might be associated because they are narrative foils? @awkwardambivert789 said that X could want to tear down the Hero system. in this way -wanting to destroy heroes- they could be similar! also Zero is eclipse associated and dark, while X is all white

this is total speculation atp, but I think that Gray E-soul could be the reason for the system as we know it in some shape or form. when people say "we're all counting on you, E-soul" in the PV, I think that's a singular, utterly extraordinary instance where E-soul gets insanely powerful for one moment to defeat somebody outside his weight class. He prevents the singularity (using a four-point star thing!!), but is also a shining example that people can point to for the Trust Value system. again total speculation though.

Section 4: Speculation on Blue vs. Gray

I think this is a case where Gray E-soul is alive, but retired. like, maybe this is an instance where people KNOW Blue is Not The Same as Gray. This would explain why a supposed "legend" is not X but instead #9 below a dog with a hat 💀

Okay, I think it's fair to say that Gray E-Soul is a little messed up + in need of therapy. that's why it's SO INSANELY INTERESTING that BLUE E-SOUL KILLS MOON. he saw OG e-soul killing people and said "bet"

DOESN'T TREEMAN HELP U OUT? IS LIN LING OKAY???? WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO HER. AREN'T YOU A GOOD GUY? LOOK, EPISODE 3 HE'S A GOOD BOY

Director Li does this thing where he really, REALLY likes to withhold information and mislead the viewer (very rarely to the detriment of the material, but often just makes it really nail-biting and hooks you to the next episode. Link Click is very similar!). this is where what we know presents LOTS of interesting directions, but no concrete, probable paths.

Maybe E-Soul did it in some part because they know Lin Ling. Maybe this is because the Treeman boss said he'd handle the Moon problem, and sent both a hero to publicly rescue Moon AND a hero to straight up make her Actually Dead since Mighty Glory has been shown to collaborate with Treeman.

The Treeman boss is like. totally part of Spotlight right...? maybe that's how they found Moon, like w/ the power of fear the same way they found Enlighter's reddit cave

maybe if we take E-Soul's PV at face value, then Blue and Gray are enemies! it could be that Gray sees Blue as their personal demon or something like that, seeing how Blue makes Gray's modern armor crack. fear of replacement, or Gray doesn't like the kind of person Blue is?

the theme of replacement could be applied to tbhx as a whole.

All this loss of life + killing and edgy history... somebody ship them with ghostblade i don't make the rules

🦜Apollo Justice trilogy (the rant/analysis)🎵✨

Welcome! Allow me to specify what this rant is about:

The game, Apollo Justice (2007 - 2008)

The characters (Apollo, Phoenix, and the Gavin brothers)

The wasted potential (i.e. the other games) (I'm most familiar with AA1-4 the others i've briefly looked at)

Just angry thoughts at 3am

[⚠️SPOILERS FOR APOLLO JUSTICE + TRILOGY!⚠️]

[also the ⚪bulleted points⚪ are facts, the rest is my subjective yapping]

Before I begin my rant, here's some basic information about the game's development:

It's the last game directed by Shu Takumi. The rest of the trilogy is directed by his assistant (Takeshi Yamazaki) meanwhile Shu was busy with the Professor Layton crossover + The great ace attorney.

Capcom literally demanded to insert Phoenix into the game. Shu was against putting Phoenix in, feeling that his story has already come to a natural conclusion, stating, "I felt that Phoenix's story had been told, and that the series should not continue. Knowing when to end a story is very important and I wanted to avoid dragging it out and having it become a shadow of its former self." (Takumi)

In the end, Shu was forced to put Phoenix in, and we got hobo Phoenix, or as I like to call him, Beanix.

Okay so, a brief pause. From what we already know, there is a conflict of interests during development. We have a small group of artists that did a small project called ✨Ace Attorney✨ and then the corporate realized they're sitting on a goldmine. Capcom did not want their mascot, their cash cow, Phoenix Wright, to go just yet. Shu (who wanted a fresh start, and creative freedom) was torn, his team was torn between letting Phoenix go and bringing him in, and you notice that in the game as it goes back and forth. It goes between Phoenix being a main character, interfering, or disappearing for long periods of time. It was on and off, just like their arguments - corporate vs. creative freedom, old vs. the new.

It creates an... odd atmosphere throughout the game. This indecision and forcefulness. Opinions vary 🙃

The corporate unfortunately won. We had Phenix back, not in his former glory, but as a character. (Result? Apollo feels less like a protagonist, suffering, feeling irrelevant in his own game. Not always, of course! But most of the time...)

Facts continue! Apollo Justice (AA4) is the last game with 2D sprites, with some rare 3D elements. (Like Cheeto Klavier🧡)

btw, here's some name puns and meanings:

Apollo is literally named after the god of truth.

"Klavier" means "Piano" in German 🎹 - his Japanese name, Kyoya, means, "to echo/resound".

Kristoph's Japanese name, Kirihito (霧人), when reversed (人斬り - hitokiri) literally translates to "the killer".

Trucy's name pun, Trucy Wright, is supposed to sound like "see-through" (tru-through cy-see)

Lamiror = mirror, Wocky Kitaki = Walkie-Talkie, Drew Misham = Draw-me-a-sham, etc.

Okay, so. About the 1️⃣first case1️⃣: It's a widely accepted opinion that the first trial is the best one, and it's hard to disagree. It's a completely new thing (almost as if Shu was planning on starting an entirely new trilogy without Phenix Wright! Can you imagine?!--) and because the first trial is so good, with a great twist and a fun conclusion, other trials pale in comparison. Let's see, we have a new quirky protagonist (he's fine) a gentleman for a mentor (a character with depth, as we will come to know) a fallen attorney with shady history (Mr. Phenix Wright) along a complex, yet understandable, mystery. What is lovely about the first case is that it makes you think just enough, the trial flows nicely for the sub-plot to come out, and the twist is perfect.

Of course, I imagine that Japanese players might have seen the twist coming a bit earlier, looking at Kristoph's name-pun, but all-in-all it's a great start! The question is - is it a great start for the new franchise that Shu wanted to make? Is it a great start for Apollo as an attorney and as a character? ...Or, is it a great start, for the old greedy company to push good old Phoenix back into spotlight and collect more money? 🤔🤔🤔

Here's some facts about the direction the game hoped to take:

The game delved into darker themes on purpose, like a "grown up" version of Ace attorney for the next generation. It was hoping to shift the tone from the previous three games more towards realism. (AA1 was a bit comedic, we cross-examined a parrot, the crimes were less complex compared to AA3. With AA4, the idea was to make AA3 but better.) It tried to set Apollo as a more independent lawyer, trusting no one, without any mentor (like Mia in previous games) coming back every other case.

With the first case, Apollo becomes independent in a sense, but... well.

Apollo basically third-wheeled in Phoenix/Kristoph divorce. That's basically what happened in that trial. Somehow, we managed to shift all the attention from Apollo's character growth into these two men. Apollo's independent now because he got left alone in the trash while the AA team tries to figure out what the fuck to do with Phoenix and how to shove the whole thing together.

The entire game was made with the idea of change, a fresh start & fresh blood in mind! We don't get much character growth from the main characters AT ALL because, at some point in development, there was a decision made: They thought they will make a sequel. AA games so far relied on story continuity, chronological events, time passing, characters evolving, events making an impact on the characters, etc.

Apollo Justice, a beginning game of a trilogy, was written specifically in a way to have a sequel. There were things left unanswered for a reason. They took things slow, and the idea of the sequel was planned to go more into the Gramarye troupe, Gavin brothers, and Apollo's family. (Shu even had an entire backstory written for the Gavin brothers, but it was scrapped by the new team) (I'll get into it later.) This was also the reason why the game had potential, but never went all the way. The plot was more complex, and was made specifically with a direct continuation in mind, which never came to pass. We instead got... an entire rework. (again, i'll get into it later 😂)

Some art facts, since i'm an artist: They were thinking over a few variants of the character designs before they settled on the current ones. They wanted to have a protagonist more energetic than Phoenix, more blunt, an idealist, less bluffing, like a new generation kid kinda-thing. Apollo has distinct spiky hair, is different, is less tall, has a wide forehead... did you know, the design team had a few designs with different forehead wide-nesses? Wild. Apollo's color scheme is Godot's inverted, and as far away from Phoenix's dark blue design as possible (gee I wonder why...)

(Also, the Gavin brothers originally had two mirrored pointy hair-swirls, resembling pharaoh head covers, and I think that's dope as hell)

Either way, you must admit that the designs for this game are more detailed, colorful, animated, and beautiful. Honestly!!! 💖 The art direction did splendidly, and I'm glad at least that aspect wasn't affected by the disagreements of the company vs. writers :)

Fun fact: The game sold well, actually. Back in the day, people were into original ideas, instead of everything getting a live-action remake nobody asked for, an animated reimagining, and an unnecessary second part. (...Can you tell I'm dissing Disney? You can.)

Now that I'm at a point where I can speak of continuations, let's see what happened: The game released as is. It had a story, sometimes a bit awkward because of the team vs. company disagreements being physically felt through the script. People bought it and the fandom was immediately split down the middle into various factions. (Again, I was young, but this point of contention is strong even today.)

People who liked the new ideas, characters, and plot, and liked Phoenix Wright being there.

People who disliked the new things because they wanted the same old Phoenix Wright games. They wanted everything that has already concluded, to continue. (my stance 6 years ago - Since it wasn't believable that a guy like Phoenix Wright, with so many friends, would end up like this. It was so unrealistic to me, so odd, that I refused to see this game as canonical. Literal denial 🥲🥲🥲)

People who disliked the game despite being ready for new content, just because.

Next up, 7 YEARS PASS.

Yup. The disagreement, the dissatisfaction from the creators vs. company, split fan reactions, despite a fine profit, caused a change of direction, and a rift. Characters and story-lines forgotten. Literally.

The next entries after Apollo Justice don't mention the events of it -because of a company-enforced "no spoiler/connection" restrictions. Capcom created the restriction to appeal to new fans, while not spoiling previous games so they might be compelled to play them. (Again, corporate wins over… continuity, this time.) - Which means the bare minimum of character growth and history we could have seen IS NOW GONE and will never be brought into relevancy again. (unless I missed something from the 3D games, in which case let me know.)

And we get a complete overhaul, while going back to the classic AA, but this time we get a new cast to focus on and begin again and we pretend Apollo Justice doesn't exist! (Rant number 4, here we go 🥴)

My main rant so far would be about wasted potential and creative differences. Yes, they weren't strong enough to do a clean break from the past (Capcom forcing Phoenix back, not letting him "die" even though his story concluded) Yes, there's wasted potential because character growth of the protagonist is stunted by greed and confusion (Capcom demands? Fine. Phoenix must be here to appeal to all fans, for all the money. Ok. Cool. We can't be creative anymore and original ideas are shunned! 2008? Bah, nothing has changed in 2024!) and yes, the game's story suffers because of this, despite being very pleasing to look at (the sprites & animations don't hit quite the same anymore.)

I'm not even gonna go into how Apollo was forgotten and suddenly he has four backstories because he failed to establish himself solid in his introductory game without a planned sequel, and Capcom was like "Oh shit this guy exists, um, what do we do" - while also refusing to address and build upon plot points existing in the main game: Apollo had history in court. He had a character building event of incarcerating his mentor. Apollo already had family, which hasn't told him anything yet. He had Trucy. He had a courtroom rival, which he promised to rid of darkness. He gained a new mentor, a shady one, who he punched to the face! He saw the dark side of the law. He saw the "dark age of the law". He saw a better way to do things and fix the system with a jury, which was used once and forgotten about. He had a goal. He had potential... - but then he has been rebuilt and redesigned four times, given things he already had and replaced them and Capcom pulled a nonexistent best friend out of their ass out of nowhere just to give Apollo fake-depth and use (i had to look him up) CLAY TERRAN as A ONE-OFF PLOT POINT and I HATE BAD WRITING LIKE THAT, MAKING A CHARACTER that's just there for that one purpose and---🤬

I'm also not gonna go into the fact that a case-specific NPC gets more character growth than the main cast.

And I also won't rant about the 3D continuations of AA. All I'm gonna say is that, they shouldn't be under a name "Apollo Justice Trilogy" because, what the fuck happened to that guy. Who is he even? What? What game are you basing this on? Who?

The game was like a failed start to do something new... and not achieving it, stopping short of crossing the final line bravely.

This series is based on Jungkook's 3D and is probably going to have close to 6-7 parts, depending on where the storyline takes me. I'm feeling a bit dramatic, so expect a lot of angst. Tumblr is going to be referenced in this fic under a different name, Bumblr (I know, totally goofy name).

Summary: Y/N, an overworked employee at HYBE , only ever posted on Bumblr when she was feeling cornered. It was truly her escape. She didn't really do insta or even twitter. Most people would look at her and think this glass wearing quiet girl would most probably be posting pics of flowers and cute animals. But no, looks could be deceiving. Y/N's posts were far from innocent. In fact , they were borderline risque. I grumbled under my breath the entire way back to my house. I still couldn't believe I was going back home with my literal harasser; a guy I barely knew. I thanked the cab driver and grabbed Jungkook to help him out of the car. His majesty obliged my poor effort by grabbing one of my tits with his right hand and my back with his other, shoving his face into my collarbone , hot breath gliding over my skin, making me shiver.

Climbing up a flight of stairs with a heavy man leaning on me would not be pleasant. But with some grunting and cursing, I finally got him up to my solace, my beautiful home; the one redeeming quality in my life. My grandmother had left it to me. Initially it was a house with two separate floors, with separate kitchens on each floor. The floors were connected by a staircase, but were otherwise two separate units. With the tough financial constraints of having to fund my own life, I leased the bottom floor to a renter, so I could get some sort of passive income to save in my bank account.

In my opinion, the top floor was the best floor. I kept a beautiful terrace filled with a full nursery of flowers of many varieties and vegetables aplenty for me to cook with. With how much produce I got from my garden, I barely had to venture out to the farmer's market for fruits and vegetables. My roses, my babies were all lined up in a row, merely swaying with the night breeze. Placed right next to it was my sofa swing, adorned with fairy lights in the center.

Gazing at my little plant babies to calm me down, I placed Jungkook on my sky blue comfy roll out sofa. He would be sleeping on it tonight. Placing a cup of water and 2 ibuprofen pills on the coffee table next to his sleeping form, I pushed him onto his side to ensure that he wouldn't choke on his own spit and die.

I walked into my bedroom, showering quickly and put on a pink babydoll lace top and matching shorts. I turned off my lamplight, getting my alarm ready for the next day.

I worked on dicing vegetables for the japchae I would make and got some salmon out to lightly fry with a marinade. I made a few omelettes, cutting up a few of them into tiny strips to go with fried rice for lunch. The last item to be made was kimbap stuffed with chicken and spicy mayo sauce I had already made yesterday.

As I was busy getting everything together, I failed to notice the man slowly waking up near me.

Jungkook's POV

I woke up to what seemed to be the faint noises of cooking. It was quiet except for some soft humming and the faint sizzle of oil simmering in a pan. The smell was spectacular, the scent of meat and noodles permeating the place. I sat up slowly to be greeted by a sight so different from what I was prepared for. The house was very quaintly decorated, like something in a movie about fairies and elves.

There were two humongous bay windows filled with soft looking pink cushions next to them and numerous other sofa cushions strewn over the house giving the place a cozy feel. Daylight filtered in and I caught the sight of humongous maple trees and flowers of different varieties clustered outside the windows. A wind chime sat next to the window, making faint musical harmonies with the birds chirping outside.

The place looked like a cross between a tree house and a cottage, yet somehow furnished with cozy interiors of pink and baby blue. I couldn't believe a place like this existed in Seoul. It must be super expensive to acquire this space.

My cheeks blushed as I was met with an even more delectable sight, Y/N was at the kitchen, back faced towards me. She was cooking something at the stove, expertly flipping what seemed to be numerous omelettes and grilling fish. It was my lucky day. Her scrumptious ass was faced towards me. She was in a dainty baby doll dress littered with little flowers, her ass framed by pink silk shorts that barely covered her. Her thick thighs and voluptuous butt were even more accentuated as she bent upwards to reach for something in a cupboard above.

extremely self indulgent death note field hockey au

(As a field hockey player who found out today that there are only 8 WHOLE FICS on ao3 under the ‘field hockey au’ tag)

Light: centre defence. But specifically that kind of cd who insist on taking every single free hit and coming forward to strike on short corners bc he doesn’t trust anyone else to. Has an impressive slap and strike and worked religiously to perfect his 3D skills bc he couldn’t stand not being able to throw an aerial. First runner in a short corner (but secretly only because he’s way too scared to get the ball hit at him by being on post). Has taken some reckless shots and hurt people and never really felt bad- I mean they were running at him

L: I went back and forth on him being the same position as Light but eventually I decided that he’d be a centre forward. Mainly because he would be forced to face off against Light at every opportunity but also because forwards tend to be more about the speed and the skills than the brute force and that felt like it fit him

Matsuda: left mid (coming from a totally unbiased left mid player). As a mid you’re kinda more unexpected in a way, and while he may not score a lot of goals he sure as hell sets them up. Matsuda would be the type to be way to unconfident in his skills to actually carry the ball but it turns out that he can actually run the line amazingly and out skills defenders with deceptions. He also has the best shot (pun intended) on his team. Low-key scared of short corners but he’ll volunteer to defend every time, even if he triple checks his mask before stepping out

misa: forward. Probably a wing but I haven’t fully decided. She’s absolutely feral on the pitch but only when she’s actually in a play, otherwise she’s relatively calm looking jogging along, she’d be the high forward but the second she gets that ball it’s fucking over for the other team. Had broken more to an a few bones and teeth in trying to strike the ball with perhaps reckless disregard for others, but she balances it out by throwing herself 100% into every play and getting her fair share of injuries

Mello: centre mid. Doesnt trust the rest of his team to do anything so is always all over the pitch, much to his teammates dismay when they really need a centre mid and hes still sprinting back from the D. All about the strength, believes in running straight through defenders and the other teams mids by just keeping the ball on his stick. Hasnt scored all season and getting extremely depressed angry

near: forward- Mello calls him goal-hanging and just stealing the glory but he actually does a lot, just in such a calm focused way that one could almost assume that the defeenders must not have been trying very hard because he just v-dragged and flicked the ball over the keeper’s shoulder with a straight face like it was nothing

Mikami: goal keeper for Loght’s team. I chose this for him because 1: you need to be so precise and slightly unhinged to be a keeper and 2: so Light can blame all the goals scored on Mikami only, the totally didn’t get past him too >:(

Takada: left defence. All around a good player, but maybe a bit predictable. Always passes after a few paces and low-key fumes when someone tackles her before that point. Claims being a forward is easy because ‘all you have to do is hit the ball’

Matt: Mello has only convinced him to play once and he didn’t have any astros so hefting himself over his own shoulder trying to do a slap shot and declared never again. Supports all of Mello’s games with a big foam finger no matter how much Mello tells him to cut it out

Watari and Roger: subs manager and time keeper for L’s team. Also surreptitiously bribing the field hockey association to tell Wammy’s boys have their fake names on the shirts and keeping their real identities quiet. L’s shirt just has a blank box where his name should go.

Lidner: goal keeper for Mello’s team. Scary as fuck during defending shorts bc she screams to hype everyone. Mello complains to her about near and she tells him to grow the fuck up. I picked gk because I feel like it fit with her being protective (over the Wammy’s boys) and dangerous

Aizawa: bottom of the diamond/sweeper. Not the flashiest role but he runs that shit and even if he can’t stop everything he tries so bad. Does some surprisingly good 1-2s even if Light breezes past him on get another journey to not pass the ball

Gevanni: I’d be remiss not to mention this guy given who I’m related to so I reckon he’d be… either left or right mid. Something where he had a zone and he owns that shit. His team trust him to move the ball in some sort of helpful way, even if it’s only a few yards up the pitch he opens play up from where it might have been getting stuck with Mello repeatedly gunning it down the middle. Very good stick skills and instead with the details- practiced obscenely hard to make sure he can do all the drags, lifts and weaves without the ball ever leaving his stick. It’s like the two are fused and he just pulls them along like syrup

misc/ others: these are the ones I don’t have a super secure idea about, but here are some ideas. Soichiro and Mogi both centre deference as well, something something the core of the team. Rester: goal keeper or centre mid. Aiber and Wedy are sponsors who no one is sure how they get their money. Yostuba are also sponsors but Higuchi used to be a decent player and won’t stop yapping on about how he would have done this and I won every bully- STFU THEY DONT EVEN BULLY OFF ANYMORE blah blah blah. Rem and Ryuk are the two players who come to training, hang out with their friends then cal in sick the morning of the match. Rem still turns up in a baseball cap and sunglasses to watch her gf play though. Ryuk is too busy at home playing video games to care, he only comes to training because Light always brings apples as a ‘healthy exercise snack’.

Fixer Upper Pitch For:

Sonic The Hedgehog has had five western animated shows (Sonic The Hedgehog, Adventures of Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic Underground, Sonic Boom, and Sonic Prime) and one Japanese anime (Sonic X) plus an OVA movie. And I gotta be honest: I don't think any of them are really great shows. Boom is stupid fun and hilarious, but there's not enough there to take it to any level beyond "really good". The two earlier Jaleel White Sonic shows obviously have large fan followings, but I think both of them were just bog standard good at being what they were. Underground just kind of sucked all around, and X kept getting weaker and more forgettable.

But then there's Sonic Prime, the one that came so close. No, I do not believe it's canonical to the games universe, but it is closest to the games' general look, lore, and tone. It was developed by Man of Action of Ben 10 and Generator Rex fame, given a run of 23 episodes, and split into three seasons on Netflix through 2022-2024. The reception to it was...polarized, as to be expected with Sonic fandom. I think the general consensus is that most people liked it during Seasons 1 and 2, but then Season 3, both in execution and how it concluded, killed a lot of goodwill and soured people on the series as a whole. And yeah, that is one of the show's biggest faults.

I need to cover the show's strongest elements first, thus what I'd want to see left in tact in a revised version, before I get to the fixes.

The characterization and voice acting for the characters. I'm even gonna go here - Deven Mack, Vincent Tong, Shannon Chan Kent, and Ian Hanlin are better in their roles than the VAs currently voicing their characters in the mainline games. They nail the essence of these characters so well. Props to Ashleigh Bahl, Kazumi Evans, and Brian Drummond, as they're also pitch perfect fits for their roles.

The animation style. It perfectly blends a replication of the games' 3D graphics with a distinct cartoonishness that plays well for TV.

The background designs. New Yoke City especially standing out.

Sonic's arc. Sonic's a hard character to write a character arc for, so I appreciated that they had him grapple with the consequences of his rashness, cockiness, and putting himself and his own impulses and set goals ahead of his friends, and then also show us the dark side of that development by having his responsibility and commitment to his friends (as in his versions of his friends specifically) be so great that he fails to appreciate the ways in which the other versions of his friends like Nine differ in terms of who they are and what they want. I like when Sonic is allowed to be a fuckup. More of this shit, please?

Nine's character. His introduction was a little shaky and try-hard, and the execution of his Heel Turn for the third act left a bit to be desired, but his overall character was solid and compelling to watch.

Mr. Dr. Eggman. AKA The lead member of the Chaos Council and the only one among them who's competent and has got some true menace to him. His presence was great and he had such potential.

The Amy Roses. Rusty Rose in particular is a show stealer when she's around, but I loved all Amy variants and the bond they forged.

Knuckles The Dread. Gollum-level obsessed pirate Knuckles isn't something I knew I wanted, but he was just mad entertaining.

Shadow the Hedgehog. It's been said a lot, but this series really nailed the antihero depiction, role, and characterization for Shadow, and is one of the things that helped restore him to his former glory.

The Enemies. They all had terrific designs and action animation, Chaos Sonic and the Prismatic Titan being especially memorable.

The Humor. It's no Sonic Boom, but it could be funny enough.

The Heart. You can tell that the people working on the show did love and care about the property and wanted to make this as worthy an addition to the franchise as they could manage to make. As result, the show feels the most like the story of a Sonic game adapted into a serialized TV format, and I really can't appreciate it enough for that.

And now for the things that needed some major fixer uppering.

The Episode Count. This is often an Achilles Heel for Netflix shows and it even counts for this one. If this show was greenlit and designed from the ground up as a "season" that would likely be the entirety of the show, then clearly it needed to have 26 episodes. When you get 23 episodes, make the premiere double length, then burn through 16 episodes worth of story until your final season has only 7 left, leading to a lot of padding in that time, the final result naturally comes out wanting.

The Shatterverse Count. This is one that would make a massive difference in how the show and story would get laid out. When the Paradox Prism shatters, it becomes five Prism Shards: red, green, yellow, blue, and purple. Yet we end up with only three unique Shatterverse worlds created? Just the dystopian city, the prehistoric jungle, and the sea-covered world? There absolutely should have been two more to round it out rather than sticking the other two crystals in Ghost Hill and The Grim respectively, and they needed to be an icy, snow covered world and a Mad Max-esque hot, magma-filled desert wasteland world. Ghost Hill would still exist within the Void as the afterimage of the Shatterverse's origin point - the place in which the Prism shattered - and we'll get to The Grim a bit later. In addition to rounding out the Shatterverse itself, it could also give focus to characters that lacked it. New Yoke City had its Tails variant at the forefront, Boscage Maze had its Amy variant at the forefront, and No Place had its Knuckles variant at the forefront. If we got two more actual worlds, we'd have a Rouge variant at the forefront of the wasteland world and a Big the Cat variant at the forefront of the snowy world. That way it'd not feel like those two characters got the short end of the stick. And finally, there's what this could do for...

The Chaos Council. Plainly put, the concept of this group was just terribly thought out and terribly implemented into the show. The idea of any variant of Ivo Robotnik sharing power over the world is just a non-starter - it is massively OOC. It would make far more sense if it was just Mr. Dr. Eggman who ruled New Yoke City. At the same time, I'd not want to lose the other Eggmen 'cause five Ivo variants each at different stages of their life is just way too funny an idea to pass up on. How I'd fix this is that rather than the Chaos Council being fully formed from the offset, they're only loosely formed. Each of them took over their respective Shatter world - Mr. Dr. Eggman rules New Yoke, Dr. Babble rules Boscage Maze, Dr. Don't rules the wasteland, Dr. Deep rules No Place, and Dr. Done-It rules the snowy world - and they're all in contact with one another. Then once Eggman gains the power to travel the Shatterverse, he recruits each variant of him in-person one after another, so we see the Council come together in real time. This would effectively build them up as a threat to contend with, even while they're forced into an alliance of convenience to stop Nine, would reduce the other four members screentime so that their one note gags don't get as tired, and would set up a great punchline ending to them when they try to seize power over the Shatterverse only for the reality of "Ivo Robotnik would never share power, there can be only one!" to set in and get them at each other's throats.

Knuckles' Voice. What....were they thinking with Adam Nurada as Prime Reality Knuckles? Actually, I know exactly what - earlier in the same year Prime debuted, 2022, Knuckles was voiced by Idris Elba in the Sonic 2 movie, by far the deepest sounding Knuckles voice to date. So for whatever reason, the powers-that-be felt intimidated and that their Knuckles had to sound like a deep voiced black man too, so before the show's release, they hastily had Adam Nurada dub over Vincent Tong for all of Prime Reality Knuckles scenes....while leaving all three of his variants still voiced by Vincent Tong. And while Elba has the talent to make his take on Knuckles work, Nurada really doesn't. They needed to leave Vincent Tong in the role of Knuckles. It's a tell that every main cast VA has more than one role to voice in the show except for Adam Nurada. He was a last minute addition.

Nine And The Grim. Here's another notable shift. In the show, Nine discovers this place he calls "The Grim" and upon realizing that it could be made habitable, decides he wants to make it his new home by taking the Ghost Prism in Ghost Hill to use as a blueprint as he exploits the shards of the real Paradox Prism to recomplete it and transfer all of Prism energy to the Grim even if that means the other Shatter Spaces must disappear. Him starting on this also unmakes Ghost Hill completely. This is a solid development but for one issue... why is the Grim a place that exists? Much like Ghost Hill holding one of the Prism shards, the Grim as a world holding a shard does not work in theory or in practice. Would it not make more sense for Nine, after what Sonic has told him about Green Hill and the life as brotherly friends he and Tails Prime lived there, to want to remake Ghost Hill into a home for himself and Sonic? That he'd not want to restore the original Green Hill and instead, out of its remnant, make his own that he thinks would be a better, perfect version of what it was, and when Sonic rejects that idea, he instead replaces Ghost Hill with this vacant space known as "the Grim" out of spite so he can go on to make his own perfect new world from there? It'd work much better and add even more of a personal touch to Nine's Heel Turn.

The Fallout Of Nine's Actions And The Final Battle. When this happens, it should've also led to a three episode backtracking run through the Shatterverse so Sonic and Shadow could rescue the denizens of the vanishing worlds and then a single episode for everyone to come together in New Yoke City before heading to the Grim to face Nine. The final battle could be the last three episodes rather than four, with a lot of the action pieces and character-story beats that happened in the Grim in those last four episodes of the show we have having occured earlier when there as more space to flesh them out and let them sit better, and also allow less padding time in the final season where the same stuff happens on repeat.

The Ending. For the show's ending, when Sonic goes through the time gateway back to Green Hill a few minutes before shattering the Paradox Prism, there needed to be a little something more to it. Like, say, Sonic using up the last trace of Prism Energy to fracture the Prism's shards without shattering it whole, implicitly creating a new reality for what was (but now never was) the Shatterverse so that the denizens, whether they remember their old lives or not, get a chance to make better lives in better worlds than what they'd had before, just as those in the Prime reality are. Less of a bleak aftertaste this way.

With these fixes, Sonic Prime could've been the definitively great Sonic the Hedgehog animated series. In the form we have it in, it feels like we have 75% of a game rather than a 100% completed run.

Okay, so I've had a sort of passive interest in the Tekken series ever since Kazuya joined Smash Ultimate, and though I've never seized the opportunity to actually play a Tekken game before (except for the Nintendo 3DS version, which sucks), I'd seen/read enough recaps of the series storyline to consider myself familiar with its core lore and themes. Oh, how wrong I was.

For those unfamiliar, it's about a blood feud that kicks off when Heihachi (the guy from Soulcalibur II) tosses his 5-year old son Kazuya (the "DORYAH" guy from aforementioned Smash (not that one)) off of a cliff because he's a dick and because other reasons. Kaz survives due to an esoteric superhuman power within him, swears to get revenge against his father (and to take over the world while he's at it, I guess), trains for the next twenty years, enters the inaugural King of Iron Fist Tournament, thrashes his dad, dumps him off the same cliff from all those years ago, smiles creepily at the camera in all his mid-90s 3D in-engine cutscene glory, and thus ends the first Tekken game.

But see, up until recently, I had been under the impression that Heihachi just left Kazuya for dead. That he set up the tournament with the prize being ownership of the Mishima Zaibatsu because he supposedly no longer had an heir, and was completely blindsided once Kazuya showed up to face him in the finals like "I lived, bitch." Revenge is, after all, best served cold.

Not true, it turns out.

“After this, Kazuya was raised by Heihachi.”

Dude tried to kill his son, failed, went ¯\_(ツ)_/¯, and kept raising him as normal.

And not only that, but he adopted another kid just to piss Kazuya off even more?? Like, I knew the character Lee existed, but I never looked up his story because I assumed he was ancillary to the whole Mishima feud. You’re telling me that Heihachi committed an unforgivable act guaranteed to make his son hate him, discovered Kazuya had demonic superpowers, and his response to this was to take him back in, get another son to play favorites with, and continue training them both to be world-class martial artists?

This whole tidbit is revelatory of the depths of Heihachi’s arrogance, but more importantly, it’s now the funniest, most ridiculous part of Tekken canon to me. Move aside, playable flatulent bear, we’ve got unbearably tense rich-kid birthday parties.

Reimagining a Disney movie about a wishing star

I already made a remake of "Wish," but I did so trying to keep a lot of the story intact. However, in this post, I decided I wanted to take the bare bones of "Wish" (ie wishing on a Star and certain characters) and make my own story! This is my first time doing this, so lemme know what you think. (Note: I did make my own alteration by trying to fix what we got with "Wish" as well.)

Aesthetic

Overall I like the idea of the film being 2D or 3D instead of hybrid. To appease the nostalgic masses, I'll say my film is 2D, though I'm unsure on what period to take from; I loved the Roccoco-inspired animation of "Cinderella" as well as the gothic, High Middle Ages aesthetic of "Sleeping Beauty" (which was an inspiration for the film; sadly, it imitated poor box office success, too). Though in terms of 21st century animation, I'm not sure if there's anything more amazing than the Firebird Suite sequence from "Fantasia 2000."

Plot

"Every year in a magical kingdom, there is a phenomenon that occurs: the Skyfall, a benevolent occurrence where it appears that all the stars fall from the sky. When it happens, it's said that those who manage to catch the falling star will have their heart's desire granted. Long ago, a young man captured a star, and he asked for the power to grant other's wishes. While his wish was granted, his future--and the kingdom's future--descended into darkness, as the stars fell and never returned to the night sky, leaving it a dark void. Decades later, a young maiden makes a wish that defies all possibility, creating a light that leads to dark shadows that seek to extinguish all hope."

Characters

Protagonist--In my rewrite, I'd have our leading lady as a woman of Middle Eastern, Sub-Saharan African, or Romani heritage. I haven't settled on which, though for names I'd go with either Aaliyah or Nimue. She'd be a more mature and less adorkable lead, but still fun to be around, similar to Belle, Pocahontas, and Tiana. Given her role as the sorcerer's apprentice, I'd love a callback to Mickey's red, blue, and silver look. I'm thinking a red dress in a style similar to Aurora's peasant dress, as well as a headband like Jasmine's, only a sapphire blue with silver stars. She's trained as a sorcerer's apprentice since she was a child, with her family's support motivating her to embrace the mystical world in order to grow emotionally and psychologically. She grew up in a broken kingdom filled with corruption, selfishness, and greed. One of the few people who understand right from wrong (according to American society, anyway; I know such terms are subjective), she thinks of stories her grandfather told her about the stars, and how she wanted to see them--but even more than that, she wanted to wish on one to restore her kingdom to it's former glory. While working as a sorcerer's apprentice, she gains magic and tries to help others, but her innate talent attracts people who would seek to take advantage of her, wanting to use her in lieu of their shooting stars. When she summons a star into existence, she attempts to hide him in order to keep him from being destroyed.

The Sorcerer--Known as Orchus, he was originally a kind young man who existed in earlier days of the kingdom. A gifted magician, he managed to catch a star, and seeing how this was a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, he wished to be able to catch more stars. His wish was selfless at first, but when he began giving wishes to others, they began to task him with doing it themselves, not bothering to work to capture them themselves, and coming up with the most mundane wishes. After a time, the townsfolk turn greedy, and one person wishes for the stars to fall every night. For a decade or so, stars rain down, to the point where even the royal family succumbs to it's charm, making wishes for grand(er) things. This earns the envy of the common people, who wish to be grander than the king and his family. This creates a war of wishes, which only Orchus manages to quell. By the end of it, all the stars in the sky have been eradicated from the sky, leaving only the moon and the sun, and the kingdom is in pieces. Orchus has become a powerful sorcerer who controls the kingdom, using the royals as the face of it, rebuilding the kingdom as a illustrious-looking location, but seeping with criminal activity and corruption. He believes this is the natural order of things: if people have wishes, they don't ask, but take what they want, and he fixes anything that gets too out of hand. He takes the protagonist under his wings in order to make a successor who can control the kingdom when he's gone, knowing that a rebellion with break out if there's no one to keep the relative "peace." When the protagonist accidentally summons a star, Orchus seeks to destroy it, believing that the world is better off without them--perhaps one day, no one will wish for anything. As you can see, Xehanort from "Kingdom Hearts" was my inspiration.

The star prince--Let's name him Orion, and he's not a literal prince; it's just a nickname. Originally I had him planned as being innocent and sweet, similar to Hercules, but I do like the idea of him being a bit feisty, essentially a male version of Jasmine. I'm not sure what his race would be, but I would want a fantasy outfit like Prince Ryoma's supreme samurai look from "Fire Emblem Heroes," as well as perhaps taking fashion aspect from Prince Florian and a physical appearance similar to Li Shang and Aladdin. His voice is ethereal and while kind, he isn't afraid to assert his power if need be. Originally I imagined a youthful, slimmer build, but perhaps a more mature, muscular build similar to Shang and Captain Phoebus would be more appropriate. I'd imagine he dresses in very colorful, moving clothes, perhaps with nature motifs, depending on the situation. A scorpion motif (given his name) would be a nice mainstay to his looks. (I swear, I keep imagining an Inuyasha inspiration for some reason.) He's nonbinary since he's a shapeshifter, but most of the time takes a masculine form and goes by he/him pronouns (but I'd think he'd answer to other ones as well). He attempts to help others, but his powers quickly attract the attention of Orchus, who believes his presence will only cause trouble. As he continues to (sometimes unintentionally) grant the wishes of others, the environment begins to grow malevolent, with the weather and waves antagonizing the kingdom. It soon becomes apparent that the frequent wish granting affects the balance of nature, creating more corruption within the city and destruction that even Orchus cannot repair. As such, Orchus demonizes him as a malevolent being who is keeping stars from the people. It's noted throughout the film that there are other, albeit less powerful ways, of people making wishes besides shooting stars, ie a wishing well.

Protagonist's family and friends--I'm kinda iffy on how many people there are in the film so they can all get proper attention and development. I'd like to say both of the protagonist's parents are alive: her mother is like a mix of Gothel and Lady Tremaine, but with good intentions (she's vain, greedy, and a social climber, but deep down she does care about her family, even if she's frequently selfish), and her father is emotionally detached and critical of many of her decisions, being particularly hard on her due to her prestigious position as a sorcerer's apprentice. She has two brothers (I was gonna do sisters too, but no Disney princess has brothers): a younger one who is quite intelligent and crafty, already pessimistic of life and believes you have to lie, cheat, and steal to get anywhere in life, and an older brother who is super naive, easily taken advantage of and must be protected. The family pressures her to let Orion grant their wishes, but they keep wanting more, despite the protagonist's warnings about arousing suspicion. (As you may have noticed, I didn't give them names since I never settled on our protagonist's name/race.)

As for her friends, I'd like to think she has an excitable female friend (similar to Lottie from TPATF) as well as a weary, cautious friend (similar to Nakoma from "Pocahontas"). While her excitable friend is similar to the protagonist's older brother and wants to help those in need, her cautious friend is more concerned with keeping the peace and staying out of trouble. I wanted them to be on two ends of the spectrum in order to show our protagonist two perspectives when facing trouble: trying to get by and trying to help. I don't want there to be a distinct "right/wrong" message with them.

The King and Queen--They would've made kind rulers, but they grew up during the Corruption of the Sky, so they're not the rulers they should be; the king is passive and easily controlled and manipulated, while the queen is insecure and temperamental. They barely get along with each other, but one thing that did seem to quell them was the desire for a child. While they genuinely want children, their corruption makes them paranoid about the future of the throne, and thus a child is as much a need as it is a want.

Music

The Anderson-Lopez team or Lin-Manuel Miranda should've done the music for "Wish" and I guess I'll die on that hill. IDK how they would've approached it, but that's just my dream. However, since pop artist Julia Michaels wrote the music, I tried to take inspiration from radio and alternative music and manifest a unique sound for the album. And I'll probably edit this since I don't fully have the plot written out yet, and I suck at song titles.

Stars--Somewhat of a long song, I imagine a gentle beginning, followed by a glorious middle section, before a haunting end. It serves as the prologue for why the sky has no stars. For musical inspiration, I'd say and Utada Hikaru's "Sanctuary" would be the inspiration.

In the Air--In this song, the protagonist sings about her potential to be the next royal magician, and how she considers the idea of becoming a royal advisor. Her family sings this with her to boost her confidence, and Orchus chimes in to hype her up before dousing her confidence. I'd probably take "Colors of the Wind" as an inspiration here.

Your Eyes--A long song between our protagonist and Orion, in which Orion tells her that she should strive to understand other people's perspectives and beliefs, even if she doesn't agree with them, since it'll make her someone the kingdom will look up to. I imagine it as a soft song at first, I imagine it goes full power ballad by the end, kinda like a cross between "You're You" (a deleted song from "Frozen") and "Let it Go."

Royal Favorite--In order to get the protagonist more on his side, Orchus attempts to manipulate her by encouraging her to tell him about the star (which she hasn't, but he has his suspicions). He does so by having the king and queen convince her that everything is fine in the kingdom, and that she should focus on using her magic to give them a child (which would keep her distracted). I imagine this as a guilt/gaslight song that masquerades itself a bubbly and cozy; Gwen Stefani's "This is What the Truth Feels Like" album (specifically "You're My Favorite" and "Loveable") as my inspiration.

Nightfall--I'm thinking it starts off slow and quiet, creeping and making the hair on the back of your neck stand up as Orchus sings calmly as he uses begins to kill those who oppose him, having managed to kill Orion. Honestly I keep thinking "Pray You Catch Me" with this for some reason.

Nobody--Our protagonist is imprisoned and forced to watch as her parents are abused by the townsfolk for standing against Orchus, with their newfound wealth and power being cast aside. She reflects on how she wanted to make a difference, and all that she's done is hurt everyone she's cared about, and Orchus reminds her that she needs to get in line. However, her friends manage to free her, and they tell her that it's good that she's nobody, since everyone says "Nobody will defeat Orchus."

Constellation--After defeating Orchus, his power explodes across the sky, creating a new generation of stars, albeit now they don't fall. Our protagonist reflects on how she misses Orion, but it's for the best, as she worries that he'd be taken advantage of again. During the journey, she reflects on how some wishes should never be granted, and how she believes that some of the people of the kingdom will eventually achieve their own wishes through their own efforts, not it'd take a while before anyone WANTS a wish granted, seeing all the trauma the kingdom's been through.

Lemme know that you think! This was fun! I may edit this a bit more with time. Don't get me wrong, I like my alternate takes, but maybe I'll do more original stories with the bare bones of Disney films. I'm already coming up with a "Frozen" concept!

AAIC Direct Trailer

This is the 26th post in the Ace Attorney Investigations Collection Countdown: 55 days left until release!

Today's topic: the Direct Trailer!

I’ve previously talked about the official trailer of the Investigations Collection but there is also the trailer that was shown specifically for the Nintendo Direct announcement. The general direction is similar but it shows some different images and scenes that I’d like to talk about.

I love the tagline they used for the announcement! Great way to summarize Miles‘ games 😄

There is a very short scene of investigation phase gameplay shown in Miles‘ office with a little interaction between Miles and Gumshoe. It’s truly amazing how smooth the chibi sprite animations are and how well they fit into everything! Love it! You can also see the menu icons in the upper right corner – a person with speech bubble for interacting with your partner, puzzle pieces for Logic and a book or organizer for the, well, Organizer. It’s more fancy than just having the words written out in the corner, I especially like the puzzle pieces! Though I did like how in the DS version an image of the person you currently have as your partner is shown on the bottom screen where you tap to talk to them, that was really cool. With how many different partners you have throughout the Investigations games it was a great way to highlight that.

Apart from the chibi sprite animations we also see some nice scenes of a few confrontation sprites in all their glory! The website says all the graphics are in full HD and looking at these images I definitely believe it. The DS era graphic style is my personal favourite of all the ones the series went through (AA in 3D looks great but I do slightly prefer the 2D sprites) and with these graphics it’s an absolute feast for the eyes! So detailed! So pretty! Not to say that Shi-Long isn’t insanely handsome in every version but this way he can really show it off!

And can I just…

Ahem, where was I…? Oh, yes!

We also get a look into the flight attendant’s room from I1-2 with wonderful new details to look at and a first look at the chibi sprites of Franziska and Rhoda. I love how much you can read of the „Professional Style!“ poster in the background. The way to wear the bow on the scarf and the skirt seems to be mandatory. Also love the details on how messy Cammy’s bed actually is 😄 And the „Fabulous“ in the foreground on one of the packages with all the sparkly golden stuff in it. I’m just a little confused by the „GoYou!“ name on the poster on the right. It’s the original name of the airline Miles flies with in this case but in the localization of the first game it was changed to „iFly“ which makes more sense for an English company imo. Has it been changed back for this remaster? If so, why?

Next, we can admire Sebastian’s adorable chibi sprite and his pointing animation at the fountain plaza from I2-3 (one of the prettiest settings imo). I love how his hair loop and his jacket that he wears like a cape visibly move with him – gives it so much more dynamic!

Before we see a comparison to the pixel graphic we get a look at chibi Shi-Long wearing his sunglasses. I mentioned already how much I love them but OMG, they’re SO CUTE on his chibi sprite! 😍 Why is he so adorable? And his animation when he takes them off!

I feel like I haven’t mentioned enough how wonderfully detailed and cute these are… 😊

I talked already about the music collection menu and the orchestra tracks in general but with the image they show in the trailer I can tell which additional 7 pieces of orchestral arrangements the Investigations Collection includes that I previously didn’t know where they’re from. 4 of them are from the 15th Anniversary Orchestra Concert of the Ace Attorney series. The album has 13 tracks in total but the Investigations Collection only includes the 4 that are relevant to the Investigations games. These are:

Despite the website saying the collection would have 23 orchestral tracks in total, here you can actually see 24! Assumably, the one completely new track they mention (which I assume is the main screen music for the collection) is also orchestral and therefore gets sorted into the Orchestral Arrangements. The track is marked with [AAI Collection] and titled „Prelude to Pursuit – Search for the („Truth“, I assume)“. Nice to get confirmation on this!

The last thing I want to mention is some of the lines they chose to showcase in this trailer. Some interesting decisions there. We have this line from Manfred von Karma at the time he was mentoring Miles. Wonderfully exemplary of where Miles started and a great contrast to where he stands in the Investigations games! It also gives a nice hint towards the case in Investigations where you play as young Miles which is definitely an intriguing prospect going into this game for the first time.

However, what I really want to highlight is this line from Miles which they end the trailer on. This is taken from towards the end of Investigations 2 right before you call out the main villain of the game – the single greatest twist in the entirety of this series! What a highlight to end the trailer on! It’s obviously a badass line but the additional context makes it even more so. Hype!

365 Promises of God

Day 300 – We Are Being Transformed Into The Same Image

But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord. (2Co 3:18 NKJV)

A few years back I picked up a 3D printer and began printing toys and gadgets to use around the house. I was skeptical when I heard about a device that could print ANYTHING in 3D. I was wondering what kind of ink it used. But it doesn’t use ink. It melts plastic and squirts the melted plastic onto a sticky bed that becomes the stand for your object, and when it cools, it’s… well, it’s either a plastic replica, or a pile of plastic spaghetti, and you try again.

 I was impressed with the amazing concept of taking a drawing, converting it to a 3D picture, and then printing it in plastic. I printed custom guitar picks and even some puzzle boxes. I printed some clamps and jigs to repair items around the house, like a food processor.

Recently I discovered that engineering has taken this to the next level. For a VERY expensive charge, you can buy a device that will scan a 3D object you place in its range of vision, and without much more in the way of instruction, it can produce an exact copy of that item, in plastic. If you are willing to wait long enough, that is. My 3D printer takes hours to print a tiny brick the size of a matchbox car. I’ve printed items as large as a can of coke, and it’s literally taken DAYS. And that’s if it comes out right the first time. If it doesn’t, you have to start the printer again, and wait ANOTHER couple days.

In fact, the struggle was so painful, my kids bought me a T-shirt that said, “I’m sorry I was late – I had to watch my 3D Printer.” And that’s so true – because, if you are watching closely, you might be able to stop it from messing up that valuable two-day-long job.

I’ve learned some lessons from that experience that apply to this promise today. First, God is transforming us into the likeness of his Son, and this is a process that takes a very long time. You and I would never have the patience to WAIT so long to get a replica of anything, but GOD is willing to WAIT.

Second, that printer required HEAT. A HOT bed that caused the bottom layer to stick where it was supposed to. A nozzle as hot as your broiler to melt the plastic and allow it to apply to the work. God’s transformation also requires heat. You can expect that if you are being transformed into Christ’s likeness, that you are going to spend some time in the fire. Don’t be surprised when God applies some heat to your life. Just stick where you are planted and allow him to change you.

Third, 3D printing requires you to WATCH, in case a flaw or mistake occurs, and you needed to adjust the temperature, or apply a tool to help hold the work back to the heated bed until the replica surrendered to the heat and stuck there. God is always watching, dear Christian, and he cares very much how you turn out. He’s invested decades, perhaps, in crafting you, and you aren’t finished yet. Don’t be surprised if God puts people in your life that influence you to stay the course, to keep the faith. It’s what all of us Christians are called to do for one another, you know. We are called to encourage one another in the faith, and sometimes that’s going to be met with resistance, as our friend and fellow-laborer might desire to get out of the heat.

In our reading today, we find the Apostle Paul beginning with an admonishment that he doesn’t need a recommendation from them to allow him to speak to them of heavenly things. He has been given authority by Christ to preach to them, because they are his love letter to God. He reminds them of how Moses beheld God on the mountain, and then covered his face with a veil, because even that reflected glory of God’s presence was too piercing for the Israelites to look at.

And Moses had ministered to them on tablets of stone the message of the Law, which brings forth death. How much more glorious would be the ministrations and glory of the Spirit, providing grace and life, written on the tablets of hearts?

He ends this chapter with the promise that they ARE being transformed into Christ’s likeness, and this isn’t a transformation written in ink, or in plastic, but in love and grace and by the Spirit. And you know, dear Christian, that this promise isn’t just to them, but to me and you, too.

Lord, thank you for this beautiful promise that you have the patience to wait, love enough to watch, and attention enough to provide people in my life to keep me where I need to be, plugged in and yielded to your loving transformation. May I be a willing servant, today. Amen

It’s a Fowlwing figurine! I heard you talking about them last week, and I know a guy that does 3D printing at his shop, so I thought you would like it. Now you have a desk buddy!

Tara grins, and there might as well be little cartoon flowers floating around her face like in some silly anime.

He takes the figurine from her with care and places it on his desk while looking for a spot to place it. Eventually he found a spot right next to his monitors, adjusting its position so it could be displayed in all its ferocious glory.

“It’s honestly insane how in depth your friend went with the detail. He even got the slight cracks and dents in the wings, he’s a genius.”

He walked around the figure, analyzing it from all sides, mumbling to himself. There seemed to be a familiar atmosphere forming around him as the other colleagues in the room were trying to focus on their work and tune out his ramblings. Surprisingly enough, he snapped out of it quickly.

“Tara, how much was this?! 3D printing isn’t cheap these days and considering how much work was put into this, your friend must have worked on this for over a week at the most! Let me know what I can do to make it up to you!”
