Annabeth as Odysseus. Both too smart, too cunning, with eyes that have seen to much and dreams too big for this world.

She dreams, sometimes, of the raging sea, of bloodied fields and weary soldiers. Of the warm sun and sand of an island that feels like home. When she wakes up, the memories tug at her mind, tantalisingly out of her reach. (When storms hit the shores of the camp, she hears the roar of waves against the beach echoing in the cabin and she hides under her covers, trembling and gasping in a fear she doesn’t understand).

The first time she meets Clarisse, a new camper with wild eyes and an angry scowl she nearly calls her Achilles. (The only one to notice her hesitation is Mr D. He looks pitying for a second before retreating behind his disdainful apathy).

Percy as Penelope. Both fiercely loyal, resilient and strong. To have them as friends, as lovers, is like having a home.

Percy who flinches at smelly Gabe’s voice, who sees other men superimposed with him, stronger, taller, familiar men. He feels dread and determination rise within him. He lifts his chin. Royalty never bows to anyone. (People forget Penelope came from Sparta after all. She has smiles full of teeth and a sword in her closet).

Odysseus: demanding Athena take off whatever enchantment she put on him the second the situation ends.

Diomedes: who has been a solider since he was 5 who has intersting thoughts about his own personhood who has a much more traditional relationship with Athena and would rather literally stab his own eye out with a rusted sword than speak out of turn: I don't know what you're talking about

i am always eternally amused by the idea that the Mist hiding baby Jason being a human child in Lupa's pack to mortals just. made him look like a wolf pup. so as far as mortals are/the state of California is concerned Jason is legally a wolf.

something i find interesting with linked universe fanfic that i don’t think is talked about enough, if at all, starts with how peoples’ characterizations of wild can vary drastically depending on if they think memories make a person. if wild has memories from the past, does that make him the same as the link from a hundred years ago? if he doesn’t have all of them and didn't always have them, is he a different person entirely? does he think he’s a different person, or does he not? is he a strange amalgamation of the two, being both past and current link, neither here nor there? where do you draw the line? do memories make a person or don’t they? 

but the part i feel people don’t acknowledge ends with: isn’t it the same question when it comes to sun?

The universal tragedy: loss.

It starts with a pet, maybe. Then you can't find your favorite cereal anymore or your favorite snack. Your go-to restaurant closes. Your favorite actor or musician dies or retires. Friends move away, or worse, they change into incompatible people, but they're still around to remind you of what you had.

Your children grow up and have different priorities in life. Finally, you have the finality of losing loved ones permanently.

But what really hurts is all the little losses along the way. And what's weird about it all, is that there never seems to be enough "new" to replace the loss of the old.

Eldritch Deity Odile from the Monster AU

Here she is. Unlike everyone else, Odile doesn't change much when she shows some of her true self. Any more than this and she'll end up ripping apart her mortal body. So she has the most minor changes.

Odile took her form and name from a follower of her's who was killed five years ago. She has a few things from the "real" Odile, the notebook being the most clear. It's damaged from the fight that took the life of the resistance fighter, but our Eldritch Goddess still carries it with her.

it's pretty obvious that shauna is lying about how the others felt in the wilderness (they were not enjoying that hunt), but i also think that she's lying to herself about how she felt. she did love the power and violence and thrill of the chase, but shauna was also fucking miserable 95% of the time. the power never lasted. the violence didn't fix anything. the thrill ran out. and she was always left empty. it was more like an addiction than freedom. she needed to keep escalating to feel alive

and now shauna has lost her family and her best friend. again. her trauma is basically all being brought to the surface. so she's reverting back to the only way she knows how to cope. she's wrapping herself in power fantasies and reveling in the destruction around her. but it's hollow, and it always has been

simon dealing with rats on rats at the shadowhunter academy like the past slipping into his room, creeping under his bed, hiding in his closet, wanting to find him, to touch him, waiting to be named 'simon' for the joke. but instead he hates them, shuns them.. until they start to grow on him, his rat friends, his forgotten past. until he graduates and no longer needs the ratty reminder of how his story here started.
