This is a subject that really interests me because I (28 years old) had computer classes in grade school where learning how to efficiently type was a big focus. As a result I have a very high WPM (words per minute) count and am an excellent touch typer.
However, I've heard that they started phasing out computer classes in a lot of schools because it's assumed that kids/teenagers already know how to use a computer in this day and age. But smartphones are more popular than computers now, and as result a lot of Gen Z/Gen Alpha kids are able to text very quickly but their typing skills aren't as good.

A Quick Analysis of Roz's "Heart"
This took me a few viewings to piece together, it was very "show and don't tell" and I appreciate that. It started when someone on here postulated that Roz's brilliant orange/pink light when she first held Brightbill was her experiencing joy/love, and I legit think they're onto something with that.
I would say it's the physical manifestation of her programming being overwritten.
First, look at what happens the MOMENT Roz scans the egg and sees life inside.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Those little streaks of orange and pink. I don't think we EVER see any other time where her eyes show more than one color. Almost like some instinct was set off that made her feel like she needed to look out for the egg.
It isn't until she's actually holding Brightbill and he nudges his head against her that that pink and orange light flares up.
Tumblr media
Not only in her eyes again, but practically engulfing her. Lighting up all her panels, looking like it's warming her core. But, still being very task-minded, she's quick to dismiss it at the time.
We next see it when Rummage runs her diagnostic. Roz once again lights up like a disco ball in pink and orange, and whatever Rummage was seeing on her end, it quickly became clear that "you overrode your programming??"
Tumblr media
It all builds up to the last time we see it, when it seems as though Roz's memories have been purged and Brightbill forgives her - even if it seems she can't hear him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ALSO IT STARTS RADIATING OUT FROM WHERE HE'S NESTLED INTO HER AAAGH.
She confirms it later on, but it's ultimately her "humanity" and her bond with her son that saves her in end. This light that has been building in her since she first found an egg in need allowed her to not lose herself despite technology's best efforts. And yet she couldn't have done that without Brightbill.
I JUST THINK IT'S A NEAT EXECUTION. 😭😭

So many messages and signals are produced and disseminated that they can never possibly all be read. A good thing for us too — for even with the tiny portion that we do manage to absorb, we are in a state of permanent electrocution.

I finally watched the new Wallace and Gromit movie last night and idk how long it was in development so I'm not sure if this is on purpose, but it's interesting how the conflict between Gromit and the Norbots parallels many artists' problems with AI generative "art."
Norbot, ordered to tidy up Gromit's garden, completely butchers it and remakes it in an unnatural sterile design. Not only is that clearly not how Gromit wanted it, but he didn't want a machine to work in his garden at all! He likes working in his garden. That's his hobby! Even the tedious parts are satisfying when you do them by hand!
Don't even get me started on the power drain, the inability to actually use logical reasoning, how quickly and easily they were used for evil...

Research for an au fic I’m working on: how would Azula act and behave in a modern setting? And I don’t mean re-imagine her character within a modern context and stories. This isn’t Azula, but she’s an overachieving American high schooler with strict and overbearing parents, or Azula, but she’s the soon-to-be CEO of her father’s multinational conglomerate based in Japan or something. No, I mean how would Azula as she is in canon, Fire nation princess and all, act and behave if you simply just took her from her world and plopped her into [insert current year you’re reading this]?
#Like I wanna see what her figure out modern technology so bad#Bro is probably stunned by like microwaves and ovens and fridges and all that#imagine her saying#“How has the fire nation the smartest and most technologically advanced of all the four nations#not yet figured out the limitless potential of being able to reheat your food thus making it edible and enjoyable once again?!”#wanna see her throw an iPhone at a wall because she received a text message#and has no idea why the magical black box is all of a sudden directly communicating with her#Like the potential for comedy is endless#But also more seriously what would she make of our modern social and political problems?#And our art?#Imagine she if listened to our music? Or Watched our movies and TV shows or read our literature#it’s said in canon that she enjoyed reading a lot as a young child and spent a lot of time combing over the royal palace’s archives#Imagine her stumbling upon a modern library#She’s always been a lover of history#so I can just imagine with piles of books trying to cram our entire recorded history like she’s revising for an exam#What kinds of introspections and reflections would she have#learning about all the horrible atrocities we committed throughout history in the name of a culture or an individual or an idea?#How would she compare and contrast it all to her own upbringing and everything she was taught about her world?#Oh and the internet of course#I feel like she would go into a comatose state discovering the internet#avatar the last airbender#atla#atla au#azula#princess azula#atla azula

📞💔 To our great regret, following in the footsteps of Russia’s VK Group and its quiet farewell to ICQ, Microsoft has now officially shut down Skype — a true legend of the 2000s internet era. What once defined how we connected, called, and chatted across the globe has been silenced… not by users, but by boardroom decisions.
💻 Skype wasn't just software — it was a cultural milestone. It brought faces to voices, bridged continents in seconds, and made "Skyping" a verb in dozens of languages. Its shutdown is not just sad — it's irreplaceable. Another digital monument lost to corporate fatigue.
📉 This only proves one thing: well-paid marketers and project managers have repeatedly failed to breathe new life into legacy platforms. Instead of adapting tradition to modern times, they let icons wither. And for what? Another feature-bloated app with no soul?
🌐 But we haven’t lost hope. If Winamp can rise from the ashes, why not Skype? Why not AIM? Why not ICQ? Maybe, just maybe, it won’t be Microsoft or VK who lead the resurrection — maybe it’ll be an indie developer or a bold startup that understands nostalgia can be modern.
👀 Paging Yahoo Inc. and AOL… We’re waiting.

I think I saw a post once about Cas ignoring Dean's messages, but specifically how he doesn't do it in a mean way - Cas will look at his phone, at the 7 messages in a row all asking where he is and if he's okay, and he's like :) I like it when Dean sends me messages, and then put it straight back in his pocket.
Edit: this is the post !!!

Once upon a time, if a person wanted to communicate with another person, they picked up a telephone receiver and manually input a memorized or handwritten phone number. Then they waited as the phone rang. Sometimes a person answered, sometimes they did not. Sometimes there was an answering machine to leave a message, and sometimes there was not. And you may later hear from the person, or....you may not!
The internet and modern technology have created a massive, toxic lie.
You...yes, you reading this...do not have free, anytime access to people at your demand.
If you text/DM/email/call whatever a person, and they don't reply immediately, that's fine! In fact if they never reply, that's fine!
But, but — they posted on their social media. But but — I see their "status light" shows they're available online. But but — they spoke with someone else.
Does not matter. Their life is their life. You are permitted into it if and when that person allows.
That's it. That's literally it. There's nothing else to it.
