Modern AU Arcane headcanons
So I finally watched Arcane, and safe to say I’m obsessed! Here are some headcanons I have of the characters existed in the same world as us, where (mostly) everyone is happy and alive :)
vi and powder are always forcing everyone to do stupid tiktok challenges and dances. vander and silco are very reluctant to participate but they somehow manage to go viral every single time
isha is powder and ekko’s adoptive child, and everyone absolutely loves her. she’s mute so everyone learned asl so she can easily communicate with them
vi and jayce play gta online together, and they either team up or constantly fuck with each other and cause chaos
caitlyn’s accent is frequently made fun of by everyone, especially powder
powder and caitlyn pretend to hate each other but are always there for one another when it really matters
sevika and isha are always teaming up to prank everyone. powder has woken up completely duct taped to her bed with sevika filming her and ekko dying with laughter
vi is in the running for the most ticklish person on earth, and everyone, and i mean everyone absolutely loves to tickle her because it’s such an easy way to mess with her. it’s a rarity for vi to go a day without being tickled by somebody at least once
vi and caitlyn’s place is the hang out spot for everyone. game nights, movie nights, and just general get togethers are always held at their place
the group plays cards against humanity (after isha goes to bed of course), and vi and powder are always putting down the most ridiculous cards that never make sense, but they always make everyone cackle
powder laughs so hard when she’s the judge that she can barely get through the cards, it takes her at least 20 minutes
mario kart tournaments always see the most competitiveness out of everyone. mel is somehow the reigning champion despite knowing very little about video games. powder and vi always sabotage each other and often get in physical play fights during mario kart
isha loves legos and has an entire collection that is taking over the house. ekko and powder are very supportive of this but they don’t know what to do about isha running out of space 😭
everyone always competes for title of isha’s favorite aunt/uncle. current title holders are sevika and jayce, but it changes very frequently
vander and silco are isha’s honorary grandfathers
isha has both of then wrapped around her finger
viktor owns a minecraft server that everyone plays on, and he’s like the dad who has to stop everyone from griefing each other
powder’s nickname is still jinx-but for a different reason. vi and powder would always play jinx related games where they would try to not say the same word, and powder always won. so jinx is vi’s affectionate nickname for powder that everyone else occasionally calls her
vander and silco own a gym where they specialize in hand to hand combat-vi works there with them and specifically works with kids, teaching them basic self defense techniques and going from there. vi never really pegged herself as kid material but she’s surprisingly really good with them, and sevika also works there with the adult classes
because of this, vi and sevika also teach isha self defense techniques in case any kids at school mess with her
powder and ekko work at an engineering company together
caitlyn is a lawyer, one of the top lawyers in the country due to her experience and schooling
jayce and viktor are scientific researchers and they are always making miraculous breakthroughs
powder and ekko worked together to design sevika’s prosthetic arm, and it’s very realistic and well functioning. after this, they started making prosthetics for people at a lower cost for those who don’t have the finances to afford them-but they still work just as well
vi and powder don’t let their romantic relationships strain their relationship as sisters. they always have sister nights with just the two of them at least once a week if not more
vi has adhd but manages well with medication and therapy
isha is obsessed with the teenage mutant ninja turtles. like, absolutely obsessed
caitlyn isn’t much of a gamer but she loves animal crosssing
ekko is an excellent cook, powder can barely make a bowl of cereal without something going wrong
jayce loves to play legos with isha
sevika kicks everyone’s ass when playing wii sports
vi and jayce function well when apart, but when they are in the same room they share one brain cell
it’s even worse when they’ve had a few drinks
powder, viktor, and caitlyn have many videos of them being total fucking idiots
sevika believes in ghosts and tries to summon them often
i’m ignoring canon for the rest of my life!
A/N: Hope everyone enjoys these! This is my first time dabbling in the arcane fandom, so lmk what you think :)

you and oliver had been driving for hours, the endless road stretching out before you. a slight shiver ran through your body as the cool air from the air conditioning caressed your skin, leaving a trail of goosebumps in its wake.
the landscape outside the window was a blur of greens and browns, the trees and fields merging into a tapestry of nature's colors. occasionally, a small town would appear on the horizon, only to fade away as quickly as it came.
the car was filled with a comfortable silence, the only sounds being the hum of the engine and the occasional rustle of a snack bag. oliver's hands were steady on the wheel, his gaze focused yet relaxed. you glanced over at him, appreciating the calm determination in his eyes. the journey felt like a shared adventure, each mile bringing you closer to an unspoken destination.
as the sun began to set, the sky transformed into a canvas of oranges, pinks, and purples. the air outside grew cooler, and you pulled a light blanket over your lap, feeling its warmth contrast with the chill from the air conditioning. the soft glow of the dashboard lights added a sense of tranquility to the moment, and you couldn't help but smile at the serenity of it all.
"do you wanna stop soon?" oliver's voice broke the silence, gentle and considerate.
"maybe at the next town," you replied, your voice equally soft. "it would be nice to stretch our legs and find a place to rest for the night."
he nodded, and you both settled back into the quiet rhythm of the drive, content in each other's company as the road continued to unfold before you.
after a while, the glow of distant lights signaled the approach of the next town. as you got closer, the small town's charm became evident with its quaint houses and a few scattered shops. the anticipation of a restful night ahead filled you with a sense of calm and satisfaction, making the long journey feel all the more worthwhile.
when you both arrived at a nearby hotel, oliver parked the car and gave you a mischievous look, his heterochromatic eyes twinkling with a playful challenge. “wanna go in or stay out here for the night?”
you gave oliver a confused look, eyebrows furrowing as you processed his question. anyone in their right mind would go in the hotel, you thought, especially after such a long drive. the idea of a warm bed and a proper shower was incredibly appealing. but he never mentioned stopping at any hotels until just now, and his sudden suggestion caught you off guard.
your confused expression gradually faded, replaced by a soft smile as you finally spoke up, “i guess we can stay in here.” the prospect of spending the night in the cozy confines of the car, wrapped in blankets and sharing whispered conversations, suddenly seemed like an interesting continuation of this sudden trip.
with that, you heard the engine's gentle hum cease, leaving a profound silence filling the car. you reclined the seat you were sitting in, feeling the soft leather against your back as you stretched out and propped your feet up against the dashboard, the cool surface a stark contrast to the warmth of the blanket draped over your legs.
beside you, oliver's window was rolled down, allowing the crisp night air to flow in. you watched as a grey cloud of smoke curled gracefully from his lips, swirling and dancing in the air before drifting out of the window with each exhale. the scent of tobacco mingled with the cool night breeze, creating a momentary haze that contrasted with the clarity of the starry sky above.
oliver’s hand drifted over to your thigh, his fingers grazing your skin with a featherlight touch. his thumb began to trace gentle circles just beneath the hem of your shorts, the warmth of his hand contrasting with the cool air seeping in through the open window.
the sensation sent a shiver up your spine, each caress igniting a trail of tingling warmth that spread through your body. his touch was both tender and deliberate, a silent communication that spoke volumes in the quiet intimacy of the moment.
it wasn’t long until you and oliver found yourselves in the backseat, a tangle of limbs and fervent whispers. his movements were slow and deliberate, each touch a calculated stroke that sent waves of desire coursing through you.
his hands explored the contours of your body, fingers tracing the delicate curves of your sides with an almost reverent tenderness. the roughness of his facial hair grazed your skin, each kiss a mix of gentle passion and raw intensity.
oliver's lips met yours with a fervent hunger, the intensity of his kisses leaving you breathless. he moved from your mouth to your neck, his kisses becoming rougher, more insistent. the coarse texture of his chin tickled your skin, leaving a trail of tingling sensations in its wake.
as he sucked and nibbled on the sensitive flesh of your neck, you felt a mixture of pain and pleasure, each mark he left a testament to his desire. the reddish-purple bruises blossomed under his touch, a map of his affection painted across your skin.
without hesitation, his hands slid beneath your pants, fingers deftly unbuttoning and unzipping them. with deliberate slowness, he began to peel the fabric away from your skin, the rough denim sliding down your legs.
the sensation of your underwear following suit, gliding down to join the discarded pants on the car floor, left you exposed and vulnerable. the cool air brushed against your newly bared skin, heightening your senses and amplifying the anticipation thrumming through your veins.
slowly, oliver inserted two fingers into your core, the deliberate pressure and gradual intrusion sending shivers of intense pleasure through your body. he began to pump them in and out with a rhythmic precision, each movement igniting a cascade of sensations that left you breathless.
the warmth of his fingers contrasted with the cool night air, heightening the electric connection between you. with every thrust, waves of ecstasy coursed through you, eliciting uncontrollable moans that filled the intimate space of the car. you writhed beneath him, your body arching and trembling, fully surrendering to the overwhelming pleasure he was orchestrating.
instinctively, your nails dig into oliver’s shoulder, leaving crescent-shaped imprints on his skin as you throw your head back against the car door. your legs remain spread obediently, trembling slightly, as oliver's ministrations send ripples of pleasure coursing through you.
each gasp and moan that escapes your lips only seems to spur him on, creating an intoxicating mix of pain and pleasure that leaves you teetering on the edge of ecstasy.
as the rhythm of his movements intensified, you felt yourself reaching the precipice of release. the tension coiled within you like a spring, ready to snap at any moment. with a final, shuddering gasp, you were sent tumbling over the edge, waves of bliss crashing over you in a symphony of pure sensation.
your body trembled with the aftershocks of pleasure, your breaths coming in ragged gasps. oliver held you close, his fingers still inside you, offering a gentle pressure as your heartbeat gradually began to slow.
the intimacy of the moment enveloped you both, the cool night air mingling with the warmth of your shared passion. slowly, oliver removed his fingers, the sticky mess stretching from your core to the tips of his fingers and around his digits.
“maybe we should’ve went in the hotel, yeah?”

Editor’s note: This hypothetically open letter was originally posted by its anonymous author on Medium and was rapidly removed as “hate speech.” We found it to be a refreshing dose of honesty, a charming and relatable open letter from one parent to other parents (not to the child, obviously!) about dealing with a challenging and dangerous moment in raising children, especially “weird” adolescents who search for their identities harder than others and risk making life-damaging mistakes in a way never before possible. We are reposting it here on New Discourses with the permission of the author.

My dear, sweet, son,
I’ve got to break it to you: you’re not trans, you’re just weird.
This seems like a cruel thing to point out right now. Clearly, you are struggling and feeling pretty awful about things. I can see that you are in a rough patch, and one of the first rules of parenting is to not pile on. The world is pretty heavy on your shoulders. You’re fifteen. There’s a pandemic going on. But here I come anyway. I’m about to throw more on you.
When you were two – a happy, chubby, little tyke in pull-ups, you watched the world with wary eyes behind the thumb in your mouth. You leapt with joy in the rhythm of the toddle music classes. You chattered and shared stories about your stuffed animals. You loved your little sister. Enjoyed cookies and finger painting. That was all pretty normal.
But you also started to count to one thousand on our walks. And you started to call out the store names as we drove around. And you preferred reading books rather than playing with the other two-year-olds at preschool. And you hated sitting in the circle when instructed. And you hated the feel of blue jeans. And you threw big tantrums when you lost any kind of game. In other words, you started to show signs that you were… weird.
The grandparents were the first to notice. They said gentle things like “You oughta keep an eye on that one,” and sent us links to Wall Street Journal articles about child prodigies. And then the other parents in the play groups started to comment; “He’s pretty intense, huh?” And the teachers were on to it pretty quickly. They started to use fancy terms like “asynchronous development.”
By third grade, we realized you were different, but we still didn’t realize you were weird. Truthfully, we’re used to people like you. Our family is full of engineers, artists, musicians, computer programmers, and a lot of “free-thinkers.” Family gatherings always have chess, political debates, and quartets around the piano. That’s just us.
And besides, you had a small but solid group of friends. There was Pokémon, then Minecraft, then Magic, then Dungeons and Dragons, then Catan. You were never in the center of things, but you weren’t alone.
But then, in middle school, things started to change. By 7th grade, school finally started to require some effort, and it turned out you were pretty disorganized. People kept calling you smart, but the teachers were annoyed at your humor, and frustrated that you wouldn’t or couldn’t follow the guidelines for assignments. Classmates didn’t appreciate your frank (if accurate) descriptions of their efforts. I’ll admit, we got pretty frustrated with you, too.
And then puberty arrived, with its triple curse of acne, braces, and bizarre growth. The girls appeared to have it all together (I know they don’t, but they do appear that way). And the popular boys seemed to know exactly what to do. They can talk sports to each other, they brag about their romantic exploits. They never get in trouble for stupid reasons like forgetting an assignment three times in a row. Your anxiety started to kick in, and it seemed like you got smaller. And some of your guy friends moved on.
So you drifted over to the weird-o crowd. Well — I’m not sure what you call yourselves, but that’s what we would have called you back when I was in school. At different schools these are the geeks, or the theater kids, the math team kids, or the artsy-fartsy kids. This used to be where the gay kids ended up, but I think they’re more dispersed now. You get some kids whose parents are going through some rough times. Some girls with anorexia. A few boys who are edgy and angry. Kids with a great sense of humor and big hearts.
And some of these kids are really passionate. Just full of righteous anger about the injustices of the world. And some of them are dramatic. And truthfully, that looks pretty attractive to you. Because you share some of that confusion and anger about the world. And though you may not be sure what you think or what you feel, you are certain you don’t want to be on the bad side. You certainly aren’t like those popular boys with their suave charm and dominating manners. You’re not like them at all.
You’re actually more like those vibrant girls who can speak for hours about their ideas. Well, you would be if you could find the words to speak. And there is something so fascinating about those girls, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. You’d never think about talking to those girls anyway, because that’d be weird. Because you are weird. You’ve never been good at chit-chat, or eye contact. Or girls. And besides, you wouldn’t want them to get the wrong impression. You understand that your peers are starting to date, but you really don’t see the point. Sex is still gross and weird to you. It’s better to just call yourself “asexual” or “pansexual.” It’s like a get-out-of-jail-free card that helps you avoid the whole mess. And your group of friends tell you that you are super cool and brave for being able to say that about yourself.
But you’ve fallen into a funk. Anyone can see that. But computer games help. And there’s always trying to beat the speed record for that one game you’re kinda good at. And that one guy on reddit always has good tricks. And the people on that message board seem to get your humor.
So when one of them posts a meme about trans rights, it makes sense that you’d check it out. You’re curious! You’re a free thinker! You’re not like the normies. And the web quiz hits home. You do feel discomfort with your body. You don’t like sports. You do wonder what it would be like to be a girl. You’ve always felt like something was different about you.
You’re right. There is something different about you.
But you’re not trans, you’re just weird.
So we’re right here for you. We’ll always be here for you. But those online folks who urge you to “crack your trans egg” and rush to hormones and surgeries don’t know you at all. They don’t know that gifted kids and ADHD kids and Autism kids and Asperger’s kids are slower to develop emotionally and sexually. They don’t know that sexuality takes time and experience to figure out, and that the majority of trans teens seeking medical treatment haven’t even masturbated or kissed someone yet. They don’t know that 80% of trans children end up becoming comfortable with their birth sex if you just give them time. They don’t know that there are increasing numbers of desisting and de-transitioning people in their twenties. They don’t realize that hormones permanently stunt your growth, decrease your IQ, and can cause sterility. They don’t know that these hormones are prescribed off-label and there’s no research on the long-term outcomes. They don’t even know that the most recent research shows that short-term outcomes are clearly worse.
They don’t realize that you’re weird. But I do. You’re weird, kiddo. You’ll figure that out in a year or two. But that’s okay. We are all weird. And I love you anyway. You’re going to be just fine.
==
You always hear stories and justifications like, "she never liked wearing a dress," or "he always hated having his hair cut." This is post-hoc confirmation bias. Not only does this confirm everything critics say about this being a movement based on gross stereotypes, but they always leave out things like, "she refused to eat anything yellow," and "he was obsessed with elevator and crossing buttons and would cry if he wasn't the one to light it up."
It's okay to be weird.

its weird to me thst nobody's even trying to be the minecraft killer anymore. roblox i guess. but like. I guess there's space engineers (found a niche but not trying to be a minecraft challenger). there was Everquest Next briefly. Eco, that game about stopping an asteroid(?) and then a mountain of abandoned indie projects. Hytale is perpetually in development, who knows.
but like.. Minecraft seems like the perfect thing to try to supplant. it's built on unimpressive tech with a mountain of technical debt making it hard to update. There's clear unanswered asks that would draw influencers away from mc and to a new game. idk. Like blizzard looked at tf2 or riot looked at csgo and said "this is weak and could be supplanted if we made a better version"--it feels like if you're in that position minecraft is a very obvious target, right?

While I do mourn the lost potential of having an animated Minecraft movie (Hollywood stop doing live action stuff when it should be animated challenge) I honestly enjoyed the movie. It's fun to be in a room with people who unironically get excited over Minecraft.
I also think that this movie has 3 things that work really well for it.
The first is that they don't really waste time on the whole isekai troupe of characters denying where they are. The movie starts with Steve pretty much immediately getting into Minecraft and doing cool stuff. Then, when the other main characters end up in Minecraft, any confusion is intertwined with a night sequence. So instead of them all standing around for too long they immediately go into fight or flight mode and figure things out as things happen.
The second is that Minecraft logic is followed but not strictly adhered to, but not in a way that feels too alienating. Instead it inspires creativity. What do I mean? The first example is that the main kid is messing around with a crafting table for the first time and puts a tater tot that he had on hand on the table. Well tater tots aren't a part of Minecraft! What does it do? It combines with the other stuff on the table to make a gun that shoots tots. The idea is neat! I wonder what kinds of other irl stuff I could throw on a crafting table. Imagine the possibilities! Towards the end of the movie, a bunch of golems are being made and one gets the boots of swiftness placed on its head instead of a pumpkin. What results is a golem with the wings of the boots incorporated into its design. It looks super cool and I immediately became seized with the inspiration to make a bunch of Minecraft mob OCs based on combining them with different things. I love it.
And the third thing? The range of the main cast. A lot of movies (/stories in general) tend to box the main characters into age brackets based on their target audience. And don't get me wrong, the boy is obviously a stand-in for the target demographic of children. But the main 5 consist of 3 adults, a girl who's approximately teenaged-young adult (has a job, so probably 18, but still looks like a teenager), and a boy. And this feels intentional! As far as I understand it, one of Minecraft's pulls is the fact that it appeals to a wide audience with a wide range of interests. Speaking of which, you've got the builder, the treasure hunter, the redstone engineer, the animal lover, and the fighter (though not by choice initially) as your main cast. Minecraft is for everyone!
Haha, so that's my 2 cents. I'm still upset that it's not animated but I do think it's a fun movie to see in theaters. The friendly mob design is a bit atrocious but all of the hostile mobs looked pretty good in the style. I was literally pogging at the Jeb cameo and I found the nod to Techoblade nice. My favorite joke was the Swedish one. I enjoyed the side plot with the lady hooking up with the villager.
And I definitely wasn't expecting Steve Minecraft to 69 a guy. I have a feeling with Alex getting introduced that she's going to be someone's love interest next movie (I really hope that isn't the case) but until then Tumblr's going go nuts over Steve's situationship with Garett.

About Me
Hi ppl! So I decided to make an about me page so ppl can get an idea of what fandoms i'm in and what questions they can ask me and etc. I'm getting more active on tumblr because AO3 has been kinda dead recently in the fandoms i'm active in so it's good to be back here and staying. (she/her)
Houston, Texas 🤠 🦅 🇺🇸 (ethnically 🇮🇳)
Why I Chose My Names/Meanings Behind Them:
I chose the username humanitysstrongestsoldier1 because of Levi from AOT; not just for his strength, but for his rage, his refusal to break even when the world burns. I relate to that. I crave strength, of body and will. The kind of strength that doesn’t beg for mercy, that doesn’t bend to gods or fate.
The Bane of God stems from my constant heretical and iconoclastic mindset. I’ve always questioned divinity, challenged dogma, and pushed against imposed beliefs. It reflects my inner rebellion, the desire to unmake gods and re-mold truths.
As for my pen name—Simurgh—that’s how I wish to be addressed. The Simurgh is a mythical creature from Persian folklore, wise and ancient, often seen as a symbol of collective consciousness and realisation. I chose it from one of my favourite works by Attar of Nishapur, The Conference of the Birds. In the story, the birds of the world—each representing a different human flaw or virtue—gather and decide they need a king. They embark on a journey to find the legendary Simurgh, crossing seven perilous valleys: Quest, Love, Knowledge, Detachment, Unity, Bewilderment, and finally, Annihilation. Many fall behind. Only thirty birds reach the end. But when they arrive, they find no external ruler waiting for them. Instead, they see themselves reflected—scarred, weathered, transformed. They are the Simurgh. The name itself is a play on words in Persian—‘si’ meaning thirty, and ‘murgh’ meaning birds. It’s a powerful metaphor: the divine, the answer, the strength they were searching for was within them all along. That idea resonates deeply with me—of searching, suffering, and ultimately discovering that the power we seek lies in self-awareness, in introspection. The Simurgh isn’t just a creature. It’s a mirror into yourself...

PSA to, uh, the world I suppose!
The Minecraft Wiki has officially forked! It's at minecraft.wiki now!
As for why it's moved, the editors have agreed that Fandom kind of sucks, due to reasons such as an overwhelming number of ads, very little customization of the wiki's appearance, annoying pop ups upon loading into any page, weird stuff with AI, that one time they were paid to replace article content, and the fact that they just do not seem honest!
The other reason a lot of people dislike Fandom is the fact that if a wiki wants to leave, they will not delete the old wiki. This is why moving off of Fandom is called 'forking', since instead of truly moving, the wiki forks into two branches, the old Fandom one and the new one. (In this case hosted by Weird Gloop, also known as the people who host the independent RuneScape Wiki!)
That's where everyone can help! The greatest challenge the new wiki will face is SEO, or Search Engine Optimization. Fandom's SEO is huge, particularly due to the way Google treats anything with the same domain as one website, and since all of Fandom ends with '.fandom.com', all the traffic to their various different wikis means that the old Minecraft Wiki will show up really high in search results. What you can do to help is simply make sure you go to the new one of you ever visit it! Either bookmark it, or if you're searching, say, "Minecraft villager" take the few seconds to scroll down to minecraft.wiki!
Of course, editing and contributing to the new wiki will help, too, if you're interested, but you can still make a difference just by viewing the wiki.
Another sidenote is, no matter how much you want to, don't try to go and vandalize the old wiki or anything. That won't do anything but get you banned from Fandom, make the new wiki look bad, and, by going to the site, increase Fandom's SEO.
Anyways, that's all I've got to say, so have a great day!

Pix on The Citadel Cafe
I've just finished listening to the latest episode of The Citadel Cafe which is hosted by Joel Duggan. Pix joined him on this week's episode for a discussion of The Rings of Power.
You can listen here on Patreon (free to listen).
I'm not actually watching The Rings of Power, but I thoroughly enjoyed the show nonetheless. It's structured similarly to The Spawn Chunks (their jointly-hosted weekly Minecraft podcast) and started out with a chat about what they've been geeking out over lately.
Pix mentioned that his online D&D group (8Bit_Community) has just finished the finale of the Princes of their Apocalypse campaign, and that he's getting ready to DM his first game of MÖRK BORG for the group while their usual DM is preparing the next campaign. I really loved Pix's DMing of his Stillfleet campaign for that group, so this one has the potential to be really good, if you listen to how he's hoping it'll go.
He also discussed his Elden Ring A-Z challenge, and why he decided to set himself that challenge.
The main discussion delved into not only The Rings of Power, but also into folklore, myths, and Tolkien and storytelling in general. I absolutely loved it, even though I'm not watching the series, so if you're into storytelling then it's a highly recommended listen.
Oh, and at the end of the show, Pix revealed that he's just bought himself the Teenage Engineering EP-1320-Medieval, which is an insane looking sampler/composer/sequencer that features a bunch of medieval instruments as its sound set, and he's hoping to use it to create music for his homebrew D&D group.
Tumblr media
The trailer for it is absolutely nuts, and evokes the spirit of old medieval mummers, but with a bit (okay, a lot - lol) of tongue-in-cheek:

Konata: (triumphant) "Rejoice, peasants! Elon Musk hath unbanned me from X formerly twitter! Time to tweet my magnum opus: ‘Why the Cybertruck is the perfect vehicle for galaxy-brained Chads’."
Kagami: (slamming her bento shut) "Unbanned? He probably mistook you for a Russian bot. And the Cybertruck’s a glorified paperweight. It can’t even fit a grocery bag in its ‘bed’—which, by the way, doubles as a cheese grater!"
Miyuki: (brightly) "Oh, the Cybertruck’s angular design is inspired by the Lockheed F-117 Nighthawk. Though its stainless steel alloy does pose challenges for traditional manufacturing—"
Kagami: (cutting in) "It’s inspired by a middle schooler’s Minecraft build. And don’t get me started on Full Self-Driving. My uncle’s Tesla once tried to merge into a fire hydrant!"
Konata: "Kagamin, you’re just jealous because your family car has fewer CPUs than a Tamagotchi."
Tsukasa: (perking up) "Tamagotchi! I still have mine. His name is Piko and he’s a… um… what’s a ‘CPU’?"
Miyuki: "Central Processing Unit! It’s the brain of a computer. Tesla’s Autopilot uses a custom AI chip capable of 144 trillion operations per second."
Kagami: (ignoring Miyuki, steam rising) "And don’t even mention ‘Mars colonies.’ He’s been promising that since 2012. The only thing he’s colonized is Twitter with blue-check conspiracy theorists!"
Miyuki: (leaning in) "Actually, SpaceX’s Starship aims to reach Mars by the 2030s! Its Raptor engines use liquid methane, which could be synthesized on Mars itself. Though the psychological toll of interplanetary travel—"
Konata: (grinning) "Hey, X is a vibrant community. Where else can I watch crypto bros and Flat Earthers duke it out in real-time? It’s like Hunger Games, but with worse spelling."
Kagami: (throwing hands up) "MARS? He can’t even get a truck right! Remember when he said the Cybertruck’s windows were ‘unbreakable’? And then they shattered at the demo?"
Konata: (nostalgic sigh) "A modern Icarus tale. So beautiful."
Tsukasa: (gasping) "Broken glass? That’s dangerous! Maybe they should make the windows out of… jelly! Then if they break, it’s just dessert!"
Miyuki: (nodding) "Ballistic gelatin is used in testing! Though its melting point would be problematic in the Cybertruck’s proposed ‘bulletproof’ scenario—"
Kagami: (ignoring Miyuki, glaring at Konata) "And why does he keep renaming things? Twitter to X? Next he’ll rebrand Earth to ‘Planet Elon’!"
Konata: (snorting) "You’re just salty because your tweets about ‘homework stress’ get zero likes. Meanwhile, my hot take about the hottest anime moms trends every Tuesday"
Tsukasa: (raising hand) "Um… if Earth gets a new name, do we have to update our maps? I just bought a globe for geography class…"
Kagami: (cutting her off, exasperated) "Focus! Musk’s ‘genius’ is just failing upward! Neuralink? More like No-Idea-Link. Who wants a brain chip that crashes during a software update?!"
Konata: (grinning) "I’d install one! Imagine pirating anime directly into your cerebellum. Innovation, Kagamin."
Tsukasa: (horrified) "Brain chip?! What if it gets a virus? My computer got one last week and now it sings ‘Baby Shark’ at midnight!"
Miyuki: (thoughtful) "Neuralink’s N1 implant does have advanced encryption. Though cybersecurity in neural interfaces is a burgeoning field with—"
Kagami: (head thudding on the table) "…Why are we giving him ideas? Next he’ll sell ‘AI girlfriends’ that block you unless you buy a $8 subscription."
Konata: (snapping fingers) "Already exists! Meet ‘Airi-chan’—she ghosted me because I wouldn’t pay to see her ‘virtual feet.’ Capitalism, baby!"
Tsukasa: (teary-eyed) "Virtual… feet? That’s so sad! People should just get a puppy!"
Miyuki: (cheerful) "Studies show pet ownership reduces stress by 32%! Elon actually owns a Shiba Inu named ‘Floki,’ though it’s unclear if—"
Kagami: (suddenly standing) "I’m done. I’m going to live in the woods. With no Wi-Fi. Or stainless steel triangles."
Konata: (calling after her) "Don’t forget your Tesla Solar Roof tiles! They’ll catch fire and keep you warm~"

Random silly TF2 Modern Highschool AU HCs that I just wanted to throw out there for fun:
Even tho' Soldier and Demo look like they would be the ones to play shooters or battle royal games, they mostly play (and sometimes stream/make let's plays of) chill games together. Like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft. Sometimes Sniper joins them when they play Stardew Valley 'cause a part of him misses that life back home.
Engineer and Medic would very much be weebs and will randomly do those magical girl poses together when they announce to the others that they've just finished their project or something. They also tend to do cosplaying with Spy and Pyro (sometimes Medic is able to drag Heavy into cosplaying as well).
Scout is very well versed in the world of dating sims. Ofc, he started playing these types of games at first to try and get better at picking up ladies, gents and enbys. But eventually, he played dating sims just for the fun of it (and sometimes these dating sims just have really good stories, alright? He definitely isn't crying to some of these games. Nope. Not at all).
Pyro has a huge following on Tiktok where they do different arts and crafts, edits, tips on baking (maybe they something similar to that chocolate guy), showing off their cosplay, and so on. Scout is often featured during art challenge videos.
The gang definitely have [irl] DnD nights together. Although Heavy isn't that huge into the roleplay and dice rolling and whatnot, he does think it's very satisfying to carefully paint the figurines and set up the maps that Pauling had planned for them to use for the night, and then watch the others get awestruck over the maps when they're shown.
Spy is the one that makes the cosplays for him and some of the others to use. Sometimes it takes longer than it should because Engineer and Medic can't sit still for the life of him, but he always comes around by the end when it's finished, feeling proud of himself for doing such an amazing job. He will not take compliments from the others however.
Sniper- along with Scout- is a huge Hatsune Miku fan. When he eventually visits back home to his parents, Sniper wants to figure out if he could get tickets to a Hatsune Miku concert at the same time. And maybe bring Scout with him as well.
Heavy and Medic often play co-op games together, especially of the puzzle kind. While Medic may overthink certain puzzles, Heavy will see the obvious and point it out. And when Heavy can't quite figure out what to do, Medic's there to brainstorm solutions with him and try it all out until it's solved.

Blog 3: Visual Identity
The first photo contains an iPad and a sketchbook full of my drawings, which represent my identity as an artist—both digital and traditional. I have always had a passion for creating art, and it is one of my favorite hobbies because it allows me to have creative freedom. Drawing also helps me express my feelings. I used dark mode to take this photo with the help of the Christmas lights to create the red color in the lighting.
The second photo is my dual monitor setup displaying one of the games I like to play and a game engine. This photo represents my identity as a game designer. When I feel bored, I enjoy playing Minecraft because it allows me to use my creativity to design architectural structures and interiors. On the right is a game I'm currently working on using Unreal Engine 5. I enjoy creating level designs and working on a game in Unreal Engine challenges me to learn and understand how to use blueprints (code) to enhance my game. Since it was dark, I used Christmas lights and led lights to take this photo.
Both photos taken on iPhone 15 Pro Max

various headcanons that i forgot aren't actually canon pt. 3
the draw sword guild team, who definitely aren't my favorites
Firstly, I don't know why, but I made the jump of headcanon-ing Hoshino Minoru as Goto Ryuji's nephew. This isn't canon but I refer to it a lot, so I just wanted to clarify straight away this is not part of the manhwa!
Reiji had a really long lasting emo phase. It kept going even when he was a hunter, and only stopped when he was promoted to vice guild leader. But he still has tattoos and piercings from back then, and it drives the team wild (they figure out he has his tits pierced and he never knows peace)
Tatsumi was in university to become an engineer. He tends to do random things whenever he gets bored. As in, dismantling the communal kitchen dishwasher and trying to "upgrade it to maximum efficiency," or taking apart various devices to try and "create a homemade roomba," and so on
Ryuji's lockscreen is an old, fat cat, and his homescreen is that same cat with kittens, and a rather excited young child. This has sparked rumors within the team that he has a kid (the kid is a very young Hoshino Minoru, his nephew)
One of Tatsumi's better hobbies is the trumpet, much to everyone's dismay. However, they realize Minoru is a heavy sleeper when Tatsumi attempts to play the Megalovania theme and Minoru just. Sleeps entirely through it
Kanae was going to be a tattoo designer/artist (I think being a tattoo artist requires a medical degree in Japan... but she would not care) and she still doodles designs in her spare time
Kanae also wants to have every inch of her tattooed, as a goal of hers, so she takes suggestions from the team (Kenzo and Tatsumi aren't allowed to suggest anything because they keep advising onigiri)
When Reiji created the team, he first hired Kenzo, Kanae, and Tatsumi. A tank and two fighters. He hires Mari, a ranger, and Akari, a healer after Tatsumi nearly dies doing stupid shit in the gates
Mari was a sheltered rich kid. The team takes it upon themselves to educate him on the wonders of 60 cent ramen packets (and other things as well)
When Akari moves in with her pet bugs, Kanae goes back to trying convince Reiji to allow her to have a pet python. Reiji doesn't budge, and for her birthday, Kenzo, Tatsumi, and Minoru all band together to sneak a python to her room (it goes about as well as you'd imagine, which isn't well at all)
Kenzo is terrified of bugs. At some point, Akari's millipede escapes. This is where their little rivalry begins
Ryuji doesn't really interact with the team a whole lot (at first), doesn't even attend the trainings. He's moved out of the offered room that comes with being a Draw Sword Guild leader. The kids are a little disappointed, because they've heard a lot about the Goto Ryuji, and barely get to see him outside of dungeons or gates
At some point, the Annual Guild Conference is held in Las Vegas. The entire team begs to go, because it's Las Vegas, and Reiji relents. Even Ryuji goes
Ippei and Mari are tied for being the shortest two on the team. Kenzo uses their heads as elbow rests a lot
Everyone tends to distance themselves from Atsushi a lot, since his fighting style is... dangerous. Kenzo is the only one who is really friendly with him, since he's so confident that he's stronger than Atsushi, so he can't ever kill him
Ippei is prone to insomnia, so it becomes a thing to just. Walk into his dorm room to bother him if you're up at 4 am, because he's most likely up as well
Kei isn't an insomniac, but they are a night owl, so they tend to run into Ippei in the communal kitchen a lot, and they become really good friends when they start playing Minecraft together
Akari discovers Ippei's old streamer videos. Even though he deletes them immediately, it's too late. She's clipped several videos of him getting jumpscared, or rage quitting, or doing something stupid, etc. They become reaction images in their groupchat
Tatsumi challenges him to speed-running Minecraft and loses terribly, but now they know Ippei didn't fake his speed-running videos. Tatsumi always challenges him at least once a month
Reiji urges Ryuji to participate in the team, which prompts Ryuji to choose Atsushi, Kei, and Ippei as potential hunters. Reiji recruits them immediately, but Ryuji still doesn't interact with the team much, to Reiji's disappointment
Ippei accidentally microwaves a fork one time in the morning after not getting any sleep. His expression did not change a single bit as the microwave caught on fire. "Oh no," has become an expression throughout the group
Atsushi, like Yoonho, is capable of shifting powers. He turns into a brown bear, but it's a really unstable shift. He's working on controlling it
(I chose bear because I think Kuma = bear in Japanese, so little brown bear boy!!! He's not little hes like 7 feet tall but you know what I mean)

What are some of your current blender projects? Or just things you like abt the program and hobby?
Hi sorry I meant to answer this several days ago but I kept forgetting until right before bedtime and I knew this would not be short... Thank you for the ask!
Ok so I don't know what your definition of "current projects" is but there's nothing I'm actively working on right now, I'm just playing Minecraft all day, but I have many wips in various degrees of being abandoned, most recent being an alternative to https://minetrim.com/ that would run in Blender and be controlled by a geometry nodes modifier. I do hope I get around to finishing it, since the online tool as it currently exists is lacking in many aspects and can be a little buggy. It probably wouldn't be all that useful for most players since you'd need to install Blender and understand a few basics of how to use it, but it would at least help me plan my armor trims (if you don't know, Minecraft recently added a system for cosmetic customization of the player's armor combining colors and patterns, and the website and my tool are meant to simulate user-selected combinations to see what it'd look like).
And that is one of my favorite things to do in Blender, create little tools with geometry nodes, which is basically a visual simplistic programming language interacting with many of the things Blender does. I can create a customizable banana with randomized shapes and spot locations with a slider for age, length, curviness, thickness, you name it, and produce a photorealistic banana (this is one abandoned project), or I could make a regular polyhedron generator taking only a Schläfli symbol as input (another abandoned project, here's a great video that inspired me to try, I highly recommend it if you have no idea what I just said), or, as mentioned, an armor trim simulator.
But Blender can do so much and I can't talk about it without mentioning that it is Completely Free And Open Source and it's good for so much more than just 3D modeling. You can of course add materials to the model, defining exactly how the surface interacts with light, defaulting to what is physically possible but not limiting to this, allowing you to create every possible and a wide range of impossible materials. And then of course you can render that, with several rendering engines to choose from depending on the look you want and the computing power and time you're willing to invest, but I usually use the ray tracing engine (simulating rays of light for most realistic result, which you shouldn't do in video games much because games have to render in real time please don't conflate my use with the crimes of AAA games). But why stop at a still image? You can animate the model, and the material if you want, and you can animate basically any property, and of course to make animation more interesting you can rig it to a skeleton (usually how characters are animated) (includes inverse and forward kinematics of course) or do physics simulation including fluid/smoke/fire simulation, soft and rigid body simulation, and cloth simulation. They've made some changes to simulation and hair since I last looked at those aspects so I'm not totally in the loop on the details but it's good and only getting better. Ok cool you've got your little animation and you can render it to a little video, neat, but it's just in a void? Do you have to model the whole background too? Well, you can, or (I'm gonna oversimplify and gloss over a lot of differences and unique challenges of each method here) you could use an HDRI (high dynamic range image, meaning it contains A Lot more information about lighting from a much wider range of values than a normal image... you know how you point your phone camera at a light source and the image goes dark? That's because your phone camera has a lower dynamic range than human eyes, it can only see a small range of light or dark values at a time), or, hey, if you do have a video camera, you can try something really fun... camera tracking. If you film a video of real life, with the camera moving around, you can plug that video into Blender and with some help it can figure out exactly how the camera is moving through space! This means, you can make the virtual camera inside Blender move the exact same way around the animation you made, and you can then render that video and lay it over the footage you took and BAM your 3D object is now in that scene! It might still look off, of course, if it doesn't cast a shadow on the ground or if it's reflective and clearly not reflecting its surroundings, but there are solutions to all these issues and if you're like me it'll turn into a fun little puzzle.
And that's just. Just scratching the surface ok? I just. Love Blender. I love that it's free and open source. If you have a computer and time you can just. Make a movie with amazing special effects and yes yes we love practical effects but trust me digital effects are not evil they're just overused because it's not unionized so it's cheaper labor but you can't tell me it isn't cool that you could make a photorealistic video of a dragon landing on your own rooftop without paying for software or putting up with ads or risking malware with piracy it's legal it's free it's fun. I will not tell you it's not time consuming but I will tell you it's cool and free*
*I recognize not everyone has free access to a video camera, internet, a computer, and enough electricity to run it
Anyway that's my summary of why I love Blender. "That's not a summary, Maws." Trust me. This is the short version.

Astroneer is by far my favorite game and it has such a small but dedicated fanbase. I will be making a long post here about the general game, progression, missions, and some very heavy spoilers for late-game. Also, its an independent studio making the game and bless its nearly perfect.
This will likely be the longest post I ever make on this hellsite (affectionate) and it'll be worth it.
First up, the setting. Astroneer is a game set in a different star system, with five planets and two moons. Each planet/moon has unique challenges, resources, and requirements to properly explore and utilize. You are The Astroneer, sent to this system to exploit its resources and research the system. You land on Sylva, the first of the planets, remarkably similar to our home of Earth. It is orbited by a singular, crater-pocked moon named Desolo. Nearby is Calidor, an arid, desert-like planet similar to Mars. Then there's Vesania and Novus, exotic, alien-like forested worlds. Glacio is the frigid tundra planet, and Atrox rounds out the group by being awful and feeling hostile down to the air around you. Astroneer's core gameplay loop is exploration -> collection -> manufacturing -> repeat. You start out with a tiny shelter, go out and grab some basic materials, build some better stuff, expand your base, get more stuff, go find more resources, get better ways to explore and manufacture, etc. So, in a sense, its like Minecraft and Factorio and maybe Satisfactory, but I've never played that last one.
Astroneer has so many mechanics and systems to play with that I'd have to make a 2 hour long video essay discussing them all. Automated crafting, resource gathering, transportation, research, processing, and more. I really only have delved into automation twice, and both times I've been floored by how INTENSE it is. There are: Storage sensors, power sensors, proximity repeaters, button repeaters, count repeaters, and thats just the BASIC items.
Everything below this is spoiler territory, so if you're happy with what you've read, congrats. Lots more below the cut.
First up: Gateway Engines and Gateway Portals. The bread and butter of 1.0 and when the lore and theorycrafting really got going. The Gateway engines apparently generate gravity in weird ways and are at the cores of each planet/moon, needing a unique resource to activate. There are six (or two, for the moons) purple nebula-filled structures (Gateway Portals) on each planet that require 30 seconds of power PER NODE to activate, and the power requirement increases as the planetary difficulty escalates. Sylva needs 6 power, and Atrox needs 30 power. For reference, the highest output portable generator of power has an output of 9 units a second. Everything higher is either stationary or dependent on environmental power for output. And since we're on the topic, energy production varies from planet to planet, and the day/night cycles are even different.
Sylva is the most neutral, with an average cycle, Desolo has no wind but decent sun, Calidor is REALLY good with solar power, Glacio has fantastic wind, Vesania and Novus both have good wind, and Atrox has almost nothing. Not even any unique planetary resources. This means that each planet, to have a functional base, needs a special set of power generation solutions, and there's even DIFFERING TERRAIN HARDNESS THAT REQUIRES DIFFERENT DRILLS AND TOOLS.
Moving on to the story, the player, through missions, is tasked with accessing and activating each planetary core in order to activate a strange satellite orbiting the sun. Once completed, you pass into a strange portal and then respawn back at your base. Congrats! You... did the thing? But that was when 1.0 came out back in February of 2019. In the four years since, Missions, Power, Trains, Xenobiology, Automation, and more updates have come out. The most interesting of which is Awakening. And Awakening introduced the lore and told the story of the game. It explained everything.
When you have completed three specific missions in the mission log, a new one is added. It simply says: "Help." And then it asks you to break reality. Something is speaking to you through the mission terminals. A little fox named EVA speaking to you on behalf of Chronos, the AI in charge of everything on the ship you came here on. Except... You never made it. The ship crashed. Life support, repair systems, the generators, all of it damaged. Data banks and the SOS system. So Chronos shoved everyone onboard the ship into a simulation, or at least unique instances of the simulation. This includes you.
Yep. That's right. Everything is a simulation. The sky, stars, all of it. Even the sun is a simulation, and THE DAMNED SUN IS THE CONTROL CENTER. You are told that Chronos' memories are broken, and need to be repaired so that the SOS signal can be sent and you can all be rescued. So you go around, learning more about how the world should have been. The wrecks? Originally fully-populated bases. Calidor? It was supposed to have gold! Vesania and Novus were massive research bases for alien structures. Atrox was supposed to be radioactive and with some sort of anomalous destruction present. The missions have been helping you repair the systems, the Gateway Portals and Engines have been repairing the real-world systems of the ship. The reason you respawn is because your real body never died. Just a copy, a simulated form. The dead bodies aren't real people, just NPCs that didn't load! The data is corrupted and missing shit so it throws in broken stuff! You're not alone in a cold and unforgiving world, you're just in a simulation like thousands of others! The ghostly versions of the Wanderer, the Conductor, and the Scientist are just what's left of the only casualties from the entire crash!
So you go around collecting the memory fragments, bringing them back to the control room to try to fix Chronos. Except... at the end, EVA realizes what the plan actually is. The memory fragments, they're not just memories. They're data. Codes for a manual shutdown of Chronos. Chronos came to the conclusion that there's not enough power for life support, AI systems, the simulation, AND the SOS beacon at once. Something needs to go, and Chronos chose to have you pull the switch. EVA is the final piece needed, and with everything together, you watch as this little fox and the AI who didn't want anyone to die fade to nothing so you can call for help. And it works. And at the end, Chronos left you a gift: EVA. A copy of the little fox for you to take care of. Someone to keep you company and remind you that you will be saved. You came here unaware of what was going on, died perhaps dozens of times, traveled across worlds, set up rail lines, studied alien life, and then uncovered the memories of a shipboard AI. All because the AI refused to give up and saw you as the best hope for the crew surviving. AND I SWEAR IF NONE OF YALL AT LEAST LOOK UP THIS GAME AND TRY IT BECAUSE ITS ON EVERY PLATFORM I WILL SCREAM. I LOVE THIS GAME AND I WILL DIE DEFENDING IT.
