Welp I can't believed that agreed on this especially Helluva boss is worst show that I ever watching especially I'm wouldn't even finishing episode one after that I'm bleaching myself by watching Bojack horseman and arcane, beastars
Tumblr media
The way that hh/hb fans describes the shows feels like they're watching completely different shows entirely since they'll claim how hh and hb are well written masterpieces and then you watch the actual shows, it's just the absolute immature written mediocre shows ever
Yea. Both shows are literal brain rot that rots their brains because Vivienne Medrano did NOT grow up and learn from her mistakes.

I think what makes Qiang Jin Jiu so great as a historical court politics danmei is that it’s not just about the power struggles in the Imperial Court, it portrays real issues that are still prevalent even in modern times such as corruption, poverty, misogyny, female oppression, etc.
The working class suffers due to increasing wealth inequality and corrupt officials who are too busy deepening their own pockets. People die of starvation and the government simply chooses to close its eyes. Women are still discriminated against in the workplace and their achievements are often questioned and undervalued. Majority of rape cases are not even investigated, the perpetrators get away scot-free while the victims are shamed instead. It’s very easy to compare the fictional story with the real life predicaments in today’s news.
Additionally, even the corrupt clans and the Biansha tribes are not portrayed in a black-or-white manner—they are not just two-dimensional evil characters; there are multiple characters from the eight great clans who are still good at heart and struggled to do the right thing such as Hua Xiangyi and Pan Lin, and through Hasen and Duo’erlan we were shown that the Biansha tribes are also human beings—they have families, and they are struggling to survive in the desert. The war is a brutality that causes casualties in both sides, but there are parties that benefit from it just as other parties suffer deeply from it.
Qiang Jin Jiu is a multifaceted story—it has excellent romance, but it’s not just mainly about the romance. The author went through great lengths to establish such a complex world-building then executes the plot and climax beautifully, in a way that’s consistent with every character’s personality, background, motivations, and relationships. This not only makes the story development compelling and believable, but also allows the author to bring forth complex issues that can become food for thought for the readers who empathized with the characters. This is why Qiang Jin Jiu is such a masterpiece.

have been meaning to cry about THIS Thame so much. like the irony of being asked to "feel it" when at the same time he is demanded to stop feeling and live like an immobile object. there is something so cruel in being [directed] to think about someone who makes you bring out those feelings just whenever it's asked of you and to suppress it when it's unwanted...
Because he's in so much pain but he had to repress it all. If he lets himself feel it, he can't work but if he doesn't let himself feel it he can't work either because you cannot seperate art from feelings. But that's what capitalism demands. It demands you seperate yourself from the world and exist as a solitary self-centred creature while also demanding you perform the same way you would if you had it all. basically a level of unrealistic emotional masterpiece that one can only achieve through community.
Thame who had repressed so hard, being forced, for the sake of the same career that took away his love, to think about his love for it. not to mention that he also loves his job. but human beings are multifaceted. he can't Only love his job. he loves his friends his (ex) boyfriend and he as a human needs to be allowed all of this.
Tumblr media
and williams acting!!! you can see the pain, the visible effort in trying to be stabbed in the same wound he has been trying so hard to forget. he has been isolated from everyone so he probably lives without any way of outlet at all. because he's like that, because he knows best how to adapt, how to keep his expression to himself unless it's being brought out of him. the company forced him into a shell once and they are doing it a second time.

Hello! I really like your writing! If it's not too much trouble, may I request headcanons for Alastor and Vox (separately) with a reader who's like Yor Forger "Thorn Princess" from the anime Spy X Family? They can be human, demon, or both. That's up to you! Thank you very much!
Warnings: none
Navigation!!
Thorns
Alastor would be instantly captivated by someone as multifaceted as you. At first glance, your charm and grace would seem like traits he could admire from afar, but the hidden lethality beneath your poised demeanor would absolutely thrill him. He thrives on complexity and chaos, and discovering that you’re a master assassin would feel like unearthing a rare treasure. He wouldn’t be scared of you; if anything, he’d be delighted by the dark elegance you bring to your craft.
Your ability to compartmentalize—switching seamlessly between polite, unassuming behavior and deadly efficiency—would fascinate him. Alastor would likely notice your duality almost immediately. His supernatural intuition wouldn’t let him overlook the way you carry yourself, the way your body language shifts depending on the company you’re in. The moment he catches you in the act of your deadly work, he’d applaud. Not mockingly, but as though witnessing an artist at their peak. “My dear, such finesse! You’re not just effective—you’re graceful. How inspiring.”
He would become a strange sort of ally, neither fully interfering with your work nor staying entirely uninvolved. He’d enjoy giving you cryptic hints or sharing information about potential targets, just to see how you’d handle it. However, Alastor would never make things easy for you; he’d enjoy testing your adaptability, putting you in situations where you’d have to blend into Hell’s chaos while maintaining your cover.
Though Alastor isn’t the type to coddle or openly protect someone, he’d take a certain pride in your independence. The fact that you don’t need him to save you would make you all the more appealing to him. If anyone dared to exploit your moments of vulnerability or threaten you, he’d consider it a personal affront. His retaliation would be swift, theatrical, and completely over the top—if only to remind everyone that you are not to be trifled with.
In quieter moments, he’d revel in your company, intrigued by the glimpses of insecurity or self-doubt you might reveal. If you ever expressed guilt or questioned the morality of your dual life, Alastor would assure you in his own twisted way that your complexity is what makes you extraordinary. “A killer with a conscience,” he might say, chuckling. “You truly are one of a kind, my dear. Keep spinning your web of lies and blades—it’s a masterpiece in motion.”
On the other hand, Vox would be drawn to you for entirely different reasons. Your elegance and subtle charm would immediately catch his attention, but it’s your deadliness that would make him stay. Vox has a taste for flair, and someone who can blend lethal efficiency with grace would strike him as the perfect combination of danger and beauty. He’d see you as someone who can rival his own sharpness, and that would make him want to know everything about you.
When Vox discovers your identity as an assassin, he’d be stunned but impressed. “You? You’re the one who’s been taking out high-ranking demons? Damn, sweetheart, I underestimated you.” Vox would admire your ability to move unnoticed through high society, flawlessly maintaining your cover while eliminating targets. He’d want to be involved—not because he thinks you need help, but because he’s curious and enjoys the thrill of watching you work.
Vox would often offer to lend his expertise, suggesting ways to use his technology to make your missions easier. He’d insist on creating gadgets for you, like a weapon disguised as jewelry or a hidden communication device to keep in contact during your jobs. Though he trusts your skills, he’d feel better knowing he can watch your back, even from afar. “Don’t get me wrong, I know you’ve got this, but let’s just call it… insurance. For my sanity.”
He’d also be drawn to your softer side, finding your kindness and occasional awkwardness endearing. Vox would tease you relentlessly about how someone as sweet and polite as you could also be a deadly assassin, but there’d be an undertone of genuine admiration in his words. He’d especially enjoy watching you navigate situations where you have to switch between your personas, marveling at how effortlessly you transition from deadly to demure.
If you ever felt conflicted about your work, Vox would take a more reassuring approach. He’d remind you that the world is full of people playing roles, and yours just happens to be deadlier than most. “Everyone’s got a part to play, babe. You’re just better at it than the rest of us. Own it.” His support would come with a bit of playful arrogance, but his words would always carry sincerity.
Vox would be more protective than Alastor, though he’d try to mask it behind his usual bravado. He’d insist on being involved if he thought a job was too risky, even if it was just to make sure you had a backup plan. The idea of losing you would unsettle him more than he’d ever admit, so he’d channel that fear into ensuring you’re always prepared.
Both Alastor and Vox would find your duality irresistible, but their approaches to your relationship would be vastly different. Alastor would see you as a kindred spirit, someone whose complexity matches his own love of chaos and performance. Vox, meanwhile, would view you as the perfect partner in crime—someone who can keep up with his wit and energy while matching his flair for the dramatic. Both would respect your strength and independence, but they’d also take pleasure in the rare moments when you let them see the vulnerable side of yourself that you keep hidden from the rest of the world.

Okay, so I’m a bit wine drunk but I don’t think I’ve ever really articulated why I love Snarry together and I’m currently trying to finish a fic after taking a three-year-hiatus from writing these two, so this is probably a good exercise!
I’m a bit on the older side of fandom, having been a fanartist and fervent reader since 2003, so my connection was really sparked during that time between OOTP and HBP when Snape and Harry were at some of their most clashing and deeply vitriolic, forced together into hateful vulnerability by Occulmency lessons. Every scene between them was electric, laced with tension as we truly did not know how things would go, or even where Snape’s true loyalties lay. He was an unknown, tied up with Harry’s own family’s mysterious past, connected to Harry in a myriad of odd ways that few other characters were, and - as a rivals-to-lovers lover - I was fascinated by him. From that first moment when they lock eyes in the Great Hall and that frisson of pain shoots through Harry’s scar, I desperately wanted to know who the hell this man was and his story. I think a lot of Snarry shippers come to the ship with a special appreciation for Severus Snape’s character himself. He’s such an incredibly drawn character, rich with complexity, complicated and pretty fucked up, with clearly-held passions, hatreds, weaknesses, and motivations. He’s emotional in a way a lot of other characters aren’t, though I think he’d loathe to hear that. And his character voice! It’s unique and pitch-perfect. You always know exactly who is speaking with his lines. Honestly, the way he evolved from a spy/traitor stock character to become so multifaceted and enigmatic is a masterpiece of characterization, and it’s an aspect of why I’m drawn to him - there’s still so much about his origins and well, what his damage was, that we don’t know. Because of this, I especially love Snarry fics that delve into character studies of him, trying to explore all the shadows left behind. I also admit I have a preference for interpreting Snape as morally grey. I like him petty, sharp-tongued, ambitious, with an incredibly liquid definition of what is right and wrong. He’s self-interested, dripping with disdain, and really doesn’t see that as a problem. What happens to him when he deeply falls in love?
I love a ship that makes me work for it. There’s no obvious line of how Snape and Harry might wind up together, so each fic is a wealth of possibilities of bringing these two together despite their roadblocks. As I mentioned, I’m big fan of animosity in a ship. Give me rivals, give me enemies, give me the sparking passions, the sharp fury, the way they stoke each others’ emotions and seek to hurt, the racing hearts, the raised hackles, the intense emotional reaction to another person. Just throw it at me. I devour that shit. I love the messy and taboo nature of their relationship, the complications raising from their age difference, temperaments, and largely similar and shared traumas. There’s an interesting element of Snape being a foil to James Potter, and how that relates to Harry and their past. Basically, this shit is really good potting soil for incredible fucking fics, packed with nutrients.
The shared natures of their traumas, like Voldemort and each being forgotten and abused as children and how they might be able to understand each other and bond from it is also something that’s fascinating to explore. I love when a writer pushes on Snape’s bruises, looking to make them hurt, cracking his sardonic brain open and rooting around in there, and I love when they compare and contrast to Harry’s. There’s a seductiveness to how Snape is so obsessed with Harry, fixated on his Boy Who Lived heroic reputation, clearly dripping with envy. What, beyond jealousy, might draw Snape to Harry and what, other than hatred, might draw Harry to Snape?
It’s all this, the passionate, electric, dangerous nature of their relationship; the way their characters contrast each other yet have surprising connections; and the question of finding solace that keeps me here, 21 years later. I’ve had wines less complex than this ship. They’re fascinating. They’re messy. They’re everything.

I think my favorite anime representing freedom is Gintama. (Before someone says something about AOT, in my opinion, Eren will never truly represent real freedom. Just false freedom he imagined for himself and his loved ones).
(Regarding One Piece that is amazing represention, i would love to write about it next time and show how beautiful it is in showing it)
When it comes to anime that represents the concept of freedom, Gintama stands out as a profound yet often overlooked masterpiece, it captures the nuanced, multifaceted essence of freedom in a way that is both unique and deeply human.
Freedom is subjective; its meaning varies from person to person. It’s not always about breaking physical chains or overthrowing oppressive regimes. It’s about finding the strength to live as you wish, embracing what makes you happy, and forging connections with those who make life worth living. Few characters embody this ideal as beautifully as Sakamoto Tatsuma.
Sakamoto’s story is a testament to resilience and the power of self-determination. Once a pacifist who chose to fight in the war against the Amanto, Sakamoto did so not out of obligation but from a deeply personal conviction. Even when his hand was permanently injured, rendering him incapable of wielding a sword; the very symbol of a samurai, he didn’t falter. Instead, he found another path. His dreams of freedom, not just for himself but for Earth and its people, became his guiding light.
Tumblr media
Though he couldn’t fight conventionally, Sakamoto redefined what it meant to be a warrior. He took to the stars, becoming a diplomat and a merchant, using his charisma and ideals to build alliances and bring people together. His dream extended beyond borders, beyond Earth itself; his vision of freedom was boundless. To him, freedom was the ability to pursue his dreams without constraint, and he never let go of that.
Gintoki was his motivation, he found a reason, when Gintoki stayed on earth he could catch the stars, he wasn't alone.
Tumblr media
What makes Sakamoto’s journey even more inspiring is his unwavering compassion. He didn’t just seek his own freedom; he made it his mission to liberate others. Whether it was freeing slaves and offering them a place in his crew or helping Mutsu break free from her past, Sakamoto consistently showed that freedom isn’t just an individual pursuit; it’s something we share with others. His relationship with Mutsu, in particular, is a beautiful example of how freedom can be transformative when extended to others.
Even after Earth was liberated from the Amanto, Sakamoto didn’t stop. For him, the stars represented endless possibilities. Earth, with its newfound peace, had become too small for his boundless dreams. Yet, he never forgot his friends or his roots, always ready to return and lend a hand when they needed him. His actions show that freedom isn’t about abandoning responsibilities or severing ties; it’s about staying true to your ideals while cherishing the bonds that matter.
Sakamoto isn't bound by a single nation allegiance, or cause, which exemplifies personal freedom that he reached, like he reached to the stars.
Gintama as a whole explores the interconnectedness of freedom and love. Gintoki, at the heart of the series, is a character who embodies this theme. He helps others find their freedom; whether it’s Kagura discovering a new life on Earth, Tsukuyo reclaiming her identity from the confines of Yoshiwara, or Kondo freeing Hijikata from his haunted past. In turn, these bonds give them, their own sense of belonging. Without his friends; Kagura, Shinpachi, the Shinsengumi, Tsukuyo, Sakamoto, Katsura, and so many others - he wouldn’t have a home to return to. Gintama shows that freedom isn’t isolation; it’s the love and connection we find in the people who accept us for who we are.
At its core, freedom is about being true to yourself and pursuing the dreams that set your soul on fire. It’s about having people who support you and a place you can call home; a place you can return to when you need strength. Sakamoto, Gintoki, and the rest of the cast demonstrate that freedom isn’t a destination; it’s a journey, one enriched by love, laughter, and the bonds we form along the way.
It's about doing what makes u happy,
freedom of begin yourself,
freedom of having people you love,
freedom of having dreams and pursuing them.
True freedom is the courage to live authentically, surrounded by those who inspire and uplift you.

god i fucking hate how much the homestuck fandom waters down characters. hussie did such an amazing job at giving us a collection of multifaceted and nuance-rich characters to really become invested in, and so much of the fandom insists on molding them into a one-dimensional husk of themselves that only reflects the traits they can use to fulfill a trope of some sort, especially female characters. and so often this leads to people horribly misunderstanding so much of the story due to blinding themselves to why somebody could be doing something, either demonizing or angelicizing characters that are actually morally grey, or even the opposite alignment of what the fandom assigned them. this is represented perfectly in the "which troll was the worst" argument, where people almost always respond with gamzee, eridan, or vriska. while I don't believe any of the three were entirely innocent, i don't believe any of them were entirely in the wrong, either. for gamzee, so many of the things people point to in order to make their argument of him being awful or irredeemable were while he wasn't fully capable of properly vetting his decisions, e.g. sopor withdrawal. eridan is definitely less defendable than gamzee, as all of his actions were done in his right mind, but we do have to step back and look at the bigger picture. not only was he a young teenager living under a series of extremely traumatic events, he had lived his whole life having violence drilled into his head because of the lifestyle he had to live and the influence he took from Dualscar. i feel like these factors more heavily influenced his personality, and eventually his violent outburst, more than people give him credit for. after all, i feel like it's obvious that he would've turned out significantly less bitter and violent if he had been raised with more nurture. especially since feferi, a troll of a caste even more known for violence than eridan's, was significantly kinder. vriska, by far the most controversial of the three, was at least partially a product of spidermom's influence. she had no choice but to feed her lusus, of course, so what choice did she have but to become accustom to murder? coupled with the fact that manipulativeness is a trait her caste is nearly universally predisposed to, we can't have expected much from her in terms of kindness to others. now, none of this is to say any of these characters are entirely innocent, they most certainly are not. their flaws are obvious to anyone who's read the comic, so i won't touch them, but labeling any of them as simply "guilty" or "innocent" is a harsh disrespect to hussie's ability to create characters with depth and humanity. no one troll is entirely evil or entirely good, they all have flaws and redeeming traits that give them a truly life-like feel, which makes me believe that asking which troll is objectively the worst is reductionary at best and truly a crime against the masterpiece of literature that is Homestuck.

Gunpla Review Journal!!
So. After building the Wing EW Ver Ka. I was finding myself really enjoying the design of the Wing Gundam, so I decided to pick up the
Wing TV Ver Real Grade
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So, as you may see in the photo, I put a lot more effort into the build of this kit than i usually do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided to brush down the entire inner frame with a brass metallic, in order to make it feel really regal, as the wing gundam should. and i tried my best to avoid stickers, even reverse washing the eyes with black enamel paint. The articulation on this thing is actually amazing to be honest. It's super solid, the super long skirts barely get in the way because they're on a hinge joint as well as a ball joint. The kit is just so multifaceted. especially with those updated wings. It really lives up to it's namesake. The gimmicks in the weapons are great too. the buster rifle with it's actual ammunition packs, and the shield with it's droop snoot ejecting beam saber with an awesome gimmick. The Bird mode does as well as it can with how the wing gundam is designed though. The buster rifle makes it really long, and the wings do a lot of the heavy lifting. the Talons on the arms are the only thing that kind of get in the way here though.
8/10
after having built quite a few complicated kits, I decided I should step back for a little bit and enjoy some simple builds. And since hobby lobby often does 40% off sales, I decided to pick up the cheapest thing in the store
2. The Entry Grade RX-78-2 Gundam
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This kit is actually super simple and great for beginners, at least if they don't want to play with it. It's incredibly cheap and that shows in the joints. Usually in something like the Leo, or any 30MM or any Lfrith style kits, the tolerances on the plastic on plastic joints would be tight enough to hold up to some play. But in Entry Grades i've found, the plastic is so soft, and so loose in its tolerances, that the joints warp out and just become flaccid. Aesthetically, this kit isn't terrible. If you're planning to fully paint this kit, I'm sure it would tighten up, and I might to be honest. The one I got came with a whole lot of weapons and accessories. Which my mark ii is currently weilding the gundam hammer from. Not amazing, but it's nice that it's included.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5/10
I often check Target for any new or clearance transformers toys and I stumbled upon the HG Immortal Justice from the Seed Freedom movie, which I had just watched and absolutely loved (you guys should go watch it, you don't even need to watch seed destiny to really get it, it's literally a redo of destiny's plot but if it was good).
3. Immortal Justice
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This kit is a masterpiece. I love the colors on this kit, I love the articulation and the silhouette is super muscular, more similar to a furai rather than a typical gundam, and its awesome. Being only 25 dollars with such amazing articulation and interesting gimmicks, it's a steal. I painted the grey parts with some vallejo gunmetal and I think I elevated the look a whole ton that way. It comes with a whole lot of beautiful effect parts for the shield rocket, the shin lasers and for the beam boomerangs. The rifle has a surprising amount of detail and color separation. I really really love how the pack kind of flares out with the wings. Much more than I liked the rising freedom gundam. Also the torso had a kind of weird ratcheting feeling to it that I love. The only things I don't super like about this kit are some little detail parts on the waist that tend to fall off, but if you have cement it's no problem. And I'm not a huge fan of the bulbous shape of the backpack and the shield. Strangely the backpack has a cockpit, but when it transforms its completely upside down?? That's about it though.
9/10
So I bought this one a while ago for a fully custom painting project, and because I love Chuck Keith in the OVA I got the
4. GM Cannon II
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So this one is really cool. It's a bulky version of the gm custom with chobam armor and a gun cannon backpack. It's like all my favorite songs on one record. I expected this kit to share a lot more with the gm custom than it actually did. The only things that seem similar or identical are the limb joints, the shield and the guns, and that's it. The armor is completely new, the feet are new (which was surprising to me) a new head. The most welcome surprise was the movable rear skirts, which not even the gm custom had. So far its a great kit. There will be another update with a more in depth review in the future once I have painted it. Keith will be proud of me
Tumblr media
6/10
Okay so this one is a purchase I'm not super proud of. I really like the witch from mercury line of model kits, and I've never purchased from p bandai before, but I was late to the races on the lfrith jiu. And the tiger fist was so cool, so I restored to aliexpress. I think it would be really funny if I just called this one 1/144 HG Model kit because that's what the box and the manual say but idk.
5. Gundam Lfrith Jiu
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
okay, so I've kind of learned my lesson with buying from China, the runners were full of voids and warped plastic, the runners said they were made of ABS and the manual said Polystyrene so I'm not sure which to trust. The stickers were kind of terrible. Unfortunately I already bought a bootleg SDEX hello kitty for a friend's Christmas present so.
Okay, enough dogging on the Chinese manufacturing. This design is so fucking cool. It's a lavender and white robot with a huge white and blue robot arm. The muted purple tones on the body make the design feel really premium and not toylike. I painted the inside of the body's shell unit with black enamels and then highlighted the grooves with chrome. I think it really makes the details pop out through the misty clear blue parts. Okay. So it's super cool, and it's a decently solid build, because it's mostly built on the base of the lfrith, but the attachment of the tiger fist a little bit awkward, the low quality molding on the parts lends the hard points for attaching the tiger fist aren't as tight or secure as I'd like them to be unfortunately, but the phalanges themselves on the tiger fist, are really decent, they don't have articulation on any of the distal phalanges, but it gets you most of the poses you could ask for.

If you’ve been seeing 77/777 this message could be for you!
Now, before I get into this reading… this reading is going to be for a select few! I also want to give caution to this reading as well.. if you are someone who doesn’t like or associate with the left hand path (if you’re not into demons/ demonology) or you may have negative feelings/opinions about it… this reading is NOT for you! And if it’s not for you PLEASE KEEP SCROLLING! (This will NOT be your average reading)
So! This reading was THE most complex reading I’ve ever done! I feel like it’s more of a deity reading rather than a regular collective reading. The being(s) who came through were heavy Lilith, Hekate, Baphomet and possibly Santa Muerte. These 4 beings could be showing up in your life at this time and have been sending MANY signs that they’ve calling out to you and are waiting for you to answer the call! Baphomet definitely is coming out stronger than anything but so is Hekate. You may be seeing signs of them, hearing their name, 777 is definitely confirmation, even when you scroll through social media especially tiktok you may see devotees display pictures of them or post educational information about them. These beings are coming into your life as a positive role model for you they are wanting and willing to offer you guidance, lessons and a different perspective.. the crown (crown chakra) is very important or you’ve been seeing a lot of “👑” symbols which to me symbolizes hierarchy or royalty. But they also offer clear understanding of things when things may feel confusing. They bring certainty when there’s uncertainty. 22/222/33/333 are very significant and they like to things in pairs… idk that’s what came up or this may be a pairing to bring forth a final masterpiece. They’re definitely associated with Halloween or creepy/ dark things are this may be there way of embracing the hidden, the shadow, the mystic and the occult. Very multifaceted being. Like I stated before, it’s not really a reading but more so for you to recognize the patterns you’ve been seeing lately and for you to come to your senses (there words not mine 🤣). “Lively up yourself” a song by Bob Marley has been playing like a broken record in my head so they make like Bob Marley or the message is something to uplift you in some way. (11:01 as I said that too 👀). The theme to the movie Halloween is significant or the movie the Exorcist (or theme song) which is quite interesting because I know Pazuzu was in that movie…. 👀👀! Alright I’m out! lol hope this helped someone!

The world eagerly awaited the unfolding chapters of her journey, both in the studio and on the screen, as (Y/n) embarked on a path destined for greatness in the realms of music and acting alike.
As the excitement swirled in the vibrant cosmos of The Boyz, a particular star within the constellation burned even brighter—Younghoon, the charismatic and talented third oldest member. The news of his successful audition for the male lead in the same drama that (Y/n) would be gracing was met with jubilation that echoed through the corridors of destiny.
Younghoon's joy radiated like a supernova, illuminating the faces of his fellow members—Sangyeon, Jacob, Hyunjae, Juyeon, Kevin, Changmin, Chanhee, Haknyeon, Sunwoo, and Eric. The air was charged with electric energy as they came together to celebrate this momentous occasion, recognizing that their constellation was expanding to encompass not only the musical realm but also the boundless horizon of acting.
Amidst the revelry, laughter, and shared excitement, Younghoon stood as a beacon of inspiration, a testament to the dreams that could manifest when talent, dedication, and opportunity converged. Each member, a vital thread in the intricate tapestry of The Boyz, contributed to the celebration, forging a bond that transcended the stage and studio.
As they raised a collective toast to Younghoon's triumph, the stars of The Boyz shone with pride and anticipation for the spectacular journey that lay ahead.
As the first rays of dawn painted the sky in hues of soft pastels, (Y/n) awoke with a giddy excitement that bubbled within her like a fizzy elixir. Today held the promise of a meeting that stirred butterflies in the depths of her being—she was to meet Younghoon, the charismatic third oldest of The Boyz. The thought alone sent a delightful shiver down her spine, and she couldn't contain the joy that danced in her eyes.
A devoted deobi, (Y/n) had been a steadfast fan of The Boyz since the very inception of their journey with the effervescent anthem "Boy." Through the highs and lows, the stages, and the milestones, she had stood by them as a beacon of unwavering support. The music, the performances, and the camaraderie of the eleven stars had woven a tapestry of memories in her heart, and today marked a chapter where her path would intersect with one of those shining stars.
The excitement, palpable in the air, manifested in a radiant smile that adorned (Y/n)'s face as she prepared for the day. She felt a sense of kinship with Younghoon, a connection forged through the melodies that resonated in her soul. Today, that connection would take a tangible form, and the prospect thrilled her beyond measure.
With a heart brimming with anticipation and a deobi spirit ablaze, (Y/n) stepped into the day, ready to embark on an adventure that promised not only the joy of meeting Younghoon but also the continuation of a journey she had cherished since The Boyz's first notes had captivated her heart.
The sunlit morning found Younghoon's eyes blinking open with an infectious excitement that mirrored the fluttering anticipation within his heart. Today held a special rendezvous with (Y/n), and the prospect of working together on the drama set ignited a joy that painted his smile with an extra layer of radiance.
As he shuffled through his morning routine, Kevin couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy, his eyes narrowing playfully as he teased Younghoon.
"Younghoon-hyung, you lucky guy! Getting to work with (Y/n) and all. I'd kill to be in your shoes," Kevin exclaimed, a mock pout on his face.
Younghoon chuckled, understanding Kevin's playful envy. "Come on, Kev. It's just work. But I get it; (Y/n)'s music is amazing. I'll make sure to tell her you're a big fan."
Kevin's eyes widened, a mischievous grin replacing his faux pout. "You would do that for me? You're the best, hyung! Hey, why don't you bring me to the set? Just for a day, please?"
Younghoon laughed, shaking his head. "As much as I'd love to have you there, Kev, it's not up to me. The schedules are tight, and you know how it is. But I promise to share all the juicy details and maybe get an autograph for you."
Kevin feigned a dramatic sigh. "Fine, fine. Just make sure to ask for an autograph on my favorite album, okay? And tell her I said hi!"
Younghoon nodded, already envisioning the playful banter he'd share with (Y/n) about Kevin's admiration. As the day unfolded, he carried with him the shared excitement of The Boyz and the knowledge that, while Kevin might not physically be on set, his enthusiasm would undoubtedly be present in spirit.
In the bustling pre-dawn hours, Sangyeon, the venerable leader and eldest among The Boyz, sought out Younghoon with a warm smile. As he approached, he clapped a supportive hand on Younghoon's shoulder, his eyes gleaming with genuine encouragement.
"Younghoon, you've got this. Knock 'em dead on set today. We're all rooting for you," Sangyeon said, his words carrying the weight of camaraderie and shared aspirations.
Younghoon nodded, grateful for the leader's words of encouragement. "Thanks, hyung. I'll do my best."
However, before Sangyeon could linger in the exchange, the distant sounds of a lively dispute reached their ears. With a knowing look, Sangyeon excused himself, patting Younghoon's back once more.
"Break a leg, and remember, we're a family. We've got your back," Sangyeon assured before heading towards the source of the commotion.
As he approached, the scene unfolded before him—Sunwoo, the mischievous troublemaker, had evidently found another opportunity for mischief. Chanhee, caught in the crossfire, looked more exasperated than angry as he realized that his clothes had fallen victim to Sunwoo's impromptu prank.
Sangyeon sighed, adopting a tone that blended authority with understanding. "Alright, boys, let's not turn the house into a battlefield. Sunwoo, give Chanhee his clothes back, and let's focus on supporting Younghoon and working today."
Sunwoo grinned, mischief dancing in his eyes, but he complied, returning Chanhee's clothes with an exaggerated bow. Sangyeon, with a bemused shake of his head, continued to play the role of the wise elder, smoothing out the ripples in the group dynamics before wishing everyone well for the day ahead. The drama both on and off the set promised to be as entertaining as The Boyz's performances themselves.
The film studio hummed with the quiet anticipation of creativity as (Y/n) stepped through its entrance. The air crackled with the promise of a new venture, and her senses were heightened, attuned to every nuance of the surroundings. Amidst the bustling activity, one figure stood out—Younghoon, his tall and commanding presence catching her eye.
As (Y/n) approached, the symphony of butterflies in her stomach played a melodic tune that mirrored the gentle thrumming of her heart. She couldn't help but feel a magnetic pull toward Younghoon, a force that drew her closer with each step. The air seemed charged with an unspoken energy, and when Younghoon turned around, their eyes met in a collision of fate.
Time seemed to slow as recognition sparked in Younghoon's eyes. In that moment, the world around them faded into the background, leaving only the two of them in a shared, suspended reality. The soulmate bond that connected their destinies clicked into place, resonating with an invisible force that enveloped them in a cocoon of connection.
(Y/n) felt as though only they existed in that singular moment. The studio, the crew, and the world beyond blurred into insignificance as their gaze lingered deepening the unspoken understanding that transcended the ordinary. It was a moment where souls touched, and the universe acknowledged the serendipity of their meeting.
As their hands touched, a subtle electric charge surged between Younghoon and (Y/n), and in that moment, an unspoken realization passed between them. Younghoon, his eyes gleaming with happiness, couldn't contain the bubbling joy within him. He took a step forward, his heart dancing with newfound lightness.
"Hi, I'm Younghoon," he grinned, the happiness radiating from him like a warm aura. "And, well, I guess I can't help but feel incredibly lucky to be your soulmate."
(Y/n)'s eyes widened, a mix of surprise and delight coloring her features. "Really?" she chuckled, charmed by Younghoon's sincerity. "Well, I'm (Y/n), and I guess that makes us quite the pair, doesn't it?"
As they shared introductions, the atmosphere around them seemed to shift, as if the universe itself acknowledged the significance of their meeting. The air buzzed with an unspoken connection, and the studio, for a fleeting moment, felt like their own private world.
Younghoon chuckled, his gaze holding a playful sparkle. "The Boyz are known for their visuals, but I have to say, meeting you in person, you're even more beautiful than I imagined."
(Y/n) blushed, a genuine smile gracing her lips. "Flattery will get you everywhere, Younghoon. But seriously, it's a pleasure to meet you. I've been a fan of The Boyz for a long time."
The exchange of words became a delightful dance, a symphony of laughter and connection that echoed within the studio walls. The shared recognition of their soulmate bond added a layer of magic to the encounter, setting the stage for a journey that promised to be as enchanting as the melodies sung by The Boyz themselves.
The enchanting moment shared between Younghoon and (Y/n) was abruptly punctuated by the discreet but pointed clearing of throats from their managers. The spell momentarily broken, they exchanged a sheepish glance before refocusing on the task at hand.
"Alright, let's get back to work," one of the managers announced with a businesslike tone, gently steering the atmosphere away from the lingering magic of the soulmate encounter.
Younghoon and (Y/n) nodded in unison, the shared understanding of the professional setting settling in. As the managers guided them back into the rhythm of the shoot, the studio once again hummed with the orchestrated movements of actors, crew, and the intricate dance of storytelling.
Despite the interruption, the connection forged between Younghoon and (Y/n) lingered in the air, infusing the set with a subtle warmth. They approached their roles with newfound energy, a shared secret glinting in their eyes as they delved into the world of their characters.
The managers satisfied that the brief interlude hadn't derailed the proceedings, observed the unfolding scenes with a watchful eye. As the cameras rolled and the drama unfolded, it was evident that the encounter between Younghoon and (Y/n) had added an unspoken layer to the narrative—a behind-the-scenes tale that would forever remain etched in the shared history of The Boyz and their newfound soulmate in the world of acting.
Seated together during a break on the bustling set, Younghoon and (Y/n) enjoyed a moment of reprieve. The camaraderie between them felt effortless as if they had been friends for much longer than the brief encounter suggested. As they delved into their lunch, Younghoon couldn't help but smile at (Y/n), his eyes reflecting the genuine connection they shared.
"By the way," Younghoon began a playful glint in his eyes, "I have a favor to ask. Kevin, one of our members, is a huge fan of yours. Mind signing an autograph for him? I promised I'd get one."
(Y/n) laughed, the gesture light and infectious. "Of course! I'd be honored. Just let me know where I can sign, and I'll make sure to add a little note for Kevin."
Younghoon, grateful for (Y/n)'s willingness, pointed to a corner of his script. "Right here should be perfect. Thanks a bunch, (Y/n). Kevin's going to flip when he sees this."
As (Y/n) took the script to jot down the autograph, Younghoon couldn't help but steer the conversation toward the unique bond they shared. "You know, (Y/n), being soulmates with me means you're soulmates with all eleven members of The Boyz. It's like a package deal."
(Y/n) chuckled, charmed by the notion. "A package deal, huh? I'm starting to feel like the luckiest soulmate in the world."
Younghoon grinned, a warmth spreading through him. "Well, you've got ten more awesome guys waiting to meet you properly. Who knows, maybe we can all hang out sometime."
The prospect of a shared connection with The Boyz beyond Younghoon added an intriguing layer to their budding friendship. As they continued their meal, the studio buzzed around them, but at that moment, it felt like the universe had carved out a little corner where soulmates, both singular and collective, could share laughter and camaraderie amidst the magic of filmmaking.
The door to The Boyz's shared residence swung open, and Younghoon entered, his face radiant with an unmistakable joy that couldn't be contained. His fellow members, gathered in the living room, turned their attention towards him, their curiosity piqued.
Sangyeon, the ever-watchful leader, couldn't help but grin. "Well, how was the first day on set? Spill the details, Younghoon!"
Younghoon practically beamed, unable to contain his excitement. "Guys, you won't believe what happened today. (Y/n), our soulmate is amazing! She's not only talented but also incredibly nice and down-to-earth. It's like we've known each other forever."
The room fell into stunned silence as the realization of Younghoon's words settled in. The members exchanged wide-eyed glances, and then, almost in unison, erupted into a chorus of exclamations.
"(Y/n) is our soulmate too?" Changmin questioned, not believing his ears.
"No way, you're kidding, right?" Eric exclaimed loudly as he jumped up and down.
"Younghoon-hyung, you've got to be messing with us!" Kevin shouted, he was certain he was dreaming.
Younghoon laughed, reveling in the infectious astonishment of his fellow members. "No joke, guys! We're all connected through our soulmate bond. It's like fate brought us together in the most unexpected way."
Hyunjae, always quick with a teasing remark, chimed in, "So, what's she like? Is she as pretty in person as she is in her music videos?"
Younghoon nodded enthusiastically. "Even more so. And she's genuinely kind. I got her autograph for you, Kevin," Kevin took the paper from Younghoon’s hands, jumping with joy.
As the news settled in, the members couldn't help but exchange excited glances. The living room buzzed with animated conversation as they eagerly delved into the details of Younghoon's day and looked forward to the possibility of getting to know (Y/n) better. Fate had woven another unexpected chapter into the tapestry of The Boyz's journey, and they embraced it with open hearts and wide smiles.
Haknyeon's playful interruption cast a brief shadow over the jubilant atmosphere, his mock teasing tone injecting a touch of humor into the room. "Come on, Younghoon, it's not fair that you get all the quality time with our soulmate. What about the rest of us? When do we get to meet her?"
The room erupted into laughter, the members playfully nudging Younghoon as if he held the secret to unlocking the mysteries of their shared soulmate bond. Jacob, the second oldest, decided to respond with a good-natured smile.
"Well, Haknyeon, it's all part of the cosmic plan, isn't it?" Jacob mused, his tone light. "Younghoon's just the trailblazer, paving the way for the rest of us to follow. Patience is a virtue, my friend."
Haknyeon exaggeratedly sighed, his hand on his heart. "Patience? Jacob, you make it sound like we're on a quest for some mystical treasure. I just want to meet our soulmate!"
The banter continued, the members exchanging banter and teasing as they navigated the uncharted territory of having a shared soulmate. Despite Haknyeon's faux complaints, there was an underlying excitement that permeated the air—an anticipation for the day when all of them would finally get to meet (Y/n) and discover the unique connection that fate had woven among them.
In the meantime, Younghoon, the unwitting pioneer, grinned amidst the good-natured ribbing, knowing that the shared joy of their newfound connection would only deepen as the days unfolded. The living room echoed with laughter, forging another chapter in The Boyz's journey, where friendship, fate, and a shared soulmate awaited on the horizon.

Third Person POV
As the weeks rolled on, the culmination of their shared venture approached—MAMA, the prestigious award show (such a lie lol) that promised a dazzling celebration of talent and achievement. The drama had wrapped, leaving behind a trail of memories and a connection that had grown stronger. Now, fate had orchestrated a meeting on a grand stage—the convergence of (Y/n) and The Boyz at MAMA.
(Y/n), adorned in an elegant gown that radiated confidence, was nominated for Best Female Artist. Her heart swelled with a mix of excitement and hope, believing that The Boyz, who was nominated for Best Male Performance, truly deserved the recognition.
The Boyz, equally thrilled and ecstatic, was bubbling with anticipation at the prospect of finally meeting their soulmate. However, they knew the importance of playing it cool to avoid sparking unnecessary rumors. The camaraderie they had shared on the set, the unspoken connection as soulmates, now held the promise of being unveiled on a stage where dreams took flight.
As they walked the red carpet, the air was charged with an electric energy, a mix of nerves and exhilaration. (Y/n) carried herself with grace, a nominee and a fan in equal measure, secretly hoping for The Boyz to take home the trophy they so rightfully deserved.
Backstage, the members exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them. They were about to meet their soulmate, the artist who had inspired them and shared a unique connection with them. The challenge lay in keeping their excitement in check, their smiles were genuine but tempered to avoid any premature speculations.
(Y/n)’s POV
As I settled into my seat at MAMA, the air humming with anticipation, my heart began to race with the excitement of what was about to unfold. Glancing at the reserved seats beside me, I couldn't help but feel a surge of joy. This was it—the moment I had been waiting for. The moment when I would finally meet all eleven of my soulmates, The Boyz.
The auditorium buzzed with energy, but my focus was drawn to the approaching figures, each face etched in my memory from the countless times I had watched their performances. There they were, all eleven of them, their handsome faces unmistakable in the sea of people.
As they passed by, a wave of warmth enveloped me. Some of them waved, their smiles contagious, while others offered a quick hello. With a bashful smile, he tucked it behind her ear, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes in the language of shared secrets and unspoken feelings.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Changmin and (Y/n) found themselves in a quiet bookstore, surrounded by the comforting scent of old books. The hushed atmosphere invited a sense of intimacy. Changmin, with a twinkle in his eyes, handed (Y/n) a book—a shared favorite from his collection. In a playful escape to an amusement park, Haknyeon and (Y/n) found themselves atop the Ferris wheel, the city lights stretching out beneath them. With a lighthearted grin, Haknyeon reached for (Y/n)'s hand, intertwining their fingers. The world below became a blur as they ascended into the night sky, their laughter dancing on the breeze—a carefree moment etched against the backdrop of twinkling lights.
In the serenity of a lakeside cabin, Sunwoo and (Y/n) found refuge from the demands of the world. The crackling fireplace cast a warm glow, and as Sunwoo strummed a gentle melody on his guitar, (Y/n) leaned against him. The quiet notes resonated in the cozy space, creating a haven where their souls connected through the shared language of music and unspoken emotions.
On a secluded balcony overlooking the city, Eric and (Y/n) found themselves wrapped in the soothing ambiance of a quiet night. The city lights below sparkled like a sea of stars, and with a gentle touch, Eric draped a soft blanket around (Y/n)'s shoulders. As they leaned against the railing, the world below seemed to disappear, leaving only the two of them—partners in a moment of quiet intimacy that transcended the bounds of ordinary romance.
The tranquility that (Y/n) and The Boyz had cherished in the private moments they shared was abruptly shattered when unauthorized pictures of their time together surfaced. The images, captured within the sanctuary of The Boyz's apartment, ignited a storm of controversies that swept through social media and news outlets. The invasion of their privacy fueled public discontent, and the narrative surrounding their friendship and bond as soulmates took an unexpected and unwarranted turn.
The public, hungry for sensationalism, expressed their displeasure at what they perceived as an intrusion into the personal lives of both (Y/n) and The Boyz. The comments sections became a battleground of opinions, with some condemning the breach of privacy, while others indulged in speculative discussions and criticisms.

The camaraderie that had been celebrated just months ago was now scrutinized and distorted by public perception. (Y/n), too, faced the brunt of the controversy, as her genuine connection with The Boyz was overshadowed by the invasive snapshots that had made their way into the public domain.

However, as is often the case in the world of celebrities, a segment of the public remained resistant to change. Some individuals continued to direct hate and criticism towards (Y/n) and The Boyz, seemingly unaffected by the revelation of their soulmate bond. The dichotomy in public opinion underscored the complexities of navigating fame, personal relationships, and the constant gaze of an audience.

The agencies emphasized the need for a healthy and respectful fandom culture, where the artists' personal lives could be cherished without crossing the line into invasive requests.
Despite the agencies' pleas, the demands persisted on social media platforms. Some fans, in their enthusiasm and desire to see the depth of the soulmate connection, inadvertently contributed to an environment that pushed the boundaries of privacy and respect.
In response, (Y/n), The Boyz, and their agencies maintained a delicate balance, continuing to share glimpses of their relationship and collaborations in a way that celebrated their connection without compromising their personal boundaries. They reinforced the idea that soulmate connections were rooted in a deep understanding and shared journey, transcending the need for explicit public displays.

I wish Theodor Strom's masterpiece Der Schimmelreiter (1888) got more love on this site. I mean, not to reduce a multifaceted work of literature to an FMA-Style recipe but the protagonist is autistic and loves big strong dykes and surely there is at least a little crossover appeal?

Deep dives into folklore: the snow queen
Tumblr media
The archetype of the Snow Queen, a majestic and often enigmatic figure associated with winter's icy grip, has traversed the realms of mythology and literature, captivating imaginations and embodying both the beauty and danger of the frozen landscape. This deep dive essay delves into the evolution of Snow Queens, exploring how these mythical beings have evolved from ancient folklore to enduring literary masterpieces.
I. Frozen Vestiges in Mythology:
The roots of the Snow Queen archetype can be traced back to ancient mythology, where winter deities often held both benevolent and fearsome aspects. In Norse mythology, Skadi, the goddess of winter and skiing, exemplifies this duality. With her association with snow-covered mountains and her prowess in hunting, Skadi embodies the harsh beauty of winter landscapes. Similarly, the Russian folklore character of the Frost Maiden or Snegurochka, a daughter of winter, possesses a mix of innocence and peril, symbolizing the transient nature of winter's beauty.
II. Hans Christian Andersen's Frozen Muse:
The transformation of the Snow Queen archetype reached new heights with the 19th-century Danish author Hans Christian Andersen. In his iconic fairy tale "The Snow Queen," Andersen crafted a narrative that blended folklore elements with his own imaginative twists. The Snow Queen in Andersen's tale is an alluring yet distant figure, embodying the frigid isolation of winter. Andersen's Snow Queen represents both the enchanting allure of the frozen landscape and the potential for emotional coldness and distance.
III. Frozen Hearts in Literature:
The Snow Queen archetype continued to evolve in literature, where authors explored the psychological dimensions of the frozen queen. In C.S. Lewis's "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," the character of the White Witch draws inspiration from the Snow Queen archetype, using her icy powers to create an eternal winter. Lewis imbues the White Witch with a sense of malevolence, emphasizing the corrupting influence of an unrelenting winter on the human spirit.
IV. Disney's Frosty Royalty:
The Snow Queen archetype achieved unprecedented popularity in the 21st century with Disney's animated feature "Frozen." Inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's tale, "Frozen" reimagines the Snow Queen as Elsa, a young woman with the power to control ice and snow. The film explores themes of self-acceptance, love, and the consequences of concealing one's true nature. Elsa becomes a multifaceted character, challenging traditional notions of the Snow Queen as a purely antagonistic figure.
V. Modern Retellings and Empowerment:
Contemporary literature and media have continued to reinterpret the Snow Queen archetype, often subverting traditional narratives. Authors and creators explore the empowering aspects of winter and the complexity of female characters associated with ice and snow. Works such as Sarah J. Maas's "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series and the television series "Once Upon a Time" showcase Snow Queens as resilient and multidimensional figures, breaking free from the one-dimensional portrayals of earlier folklore.
The evolution of Snow Queens in mythology and literature reflects the ever-changing cultural landscape, encompassing themes of beauty, danger, empowerment, and self-discovery. From the ancient myths of winter deities to Hans Christian Andersen's enchanting tales and modern interpretations in literature and film, the Snow Queen archetype has proven its enduring allure. As each iteration brings new dimensions to this frozen enigma, the Snow Queen continues to cast her spell, captivating audiences with the timeless fascination of winter's icy embrace.

Album Reviews #78 - World Coming Down by Type O Negative
People always comment about how this album was a lot more serious and bleak than the previous ones, so I was wary about it. I mean, it is bolded on RYM, so I wasn't THAT wary, but still. I think that October Rust is a masterpiece in the execution of its emotions, and I called it the album that managed to turn cynicism into romanticism back again. "I might be a sarcastic motherfucker, but to be honest, I love you with all my fucking heart, even if I'm a fucking clown." That's the kind of feeling I get from October Rust.
Now, it is true, World Coming Down takes away most of the humor elements of the lyrics and also part of the music. It is true that the emotional palette in this album is not as expansive or has as many layers as October Rust has. However, this is still a good album. I feel that Type O Negative doesn't fit as most Doom Metal bands. While it is true that they take most of their sound from Black Sabbath, they do not have that affinity for the macabre or that heart for the satanic. Peter Steele is mostly a romantic with incel problems, and the sound of the band is focused more on pop ballads and Alternative Metal than any other Doom Metal band. Any religious connotations are made in a tongue-in-cheek fashion, or they focus on feelings of sadness and sex rather than horror. This is a Gothic Metal band that can appeal to the most mainstream crowd, not subversive pyros against the church.
Without most of the humor, the band gets the closest to Black Sabbath than ever before. The music is not as multifaceted or surreal as before. The songs can also feel very on the nose—the pipe organs, the chants—they make you feel like, "Fine, fine, I get it, you are gothic." Because when the songs are more serious rather than tongue-in-cheek, it makes you feel more self-conscious. So because of that, I feel that the music is inferior to the one before. Yes, people called them clowns and this album more serious, but I just can't help but feel how the chimeric and prismatic nature of October Rust is an incredible love letter to life and romance in itself. I am not blaming Peter for exploring more serious themes this time, I just feel that this collection of songs feels more naked and transparent in their purpose.
With all that said, this is still a fantastic album. The slow riffs are as powerful as ever. The melodic sensibilities, while presenting 60% of the pie for what, to me, Type O Negative is about, are still fantastic. The songs are incredible—they are the kind of songs that could make you feel like walking up a mountain in a death march for your sins. Before you ask, yes, I have done walked up Monserrate twice already with this baby, with no shoes. There are lots of moments of sardonic bitterness which complement the hole in your heart. While October Rust was 20% sadness, 20% sarcasm, 20% romance, 20% hope, 20% apathy, World Coming Down is a bit of 60% sadness and 40% sarcasm caused by bitter resignation. It is not quite the colorful package, but this being a very slow heavy metal band, it sometimes reaches those points of being almost Slow Motion Power Metal—a blend I always wanted to listen to, and only two other songs (Earth Day by Devin Townsend and You Can't Keep a Man Down by Oceansize) have managed to show me.
While most songs here are practically perfect, there are some weak moments too, like Pyretta Blaze, which has a chorus that, to me, sounds as sincere as a plastic rose and as fulfilling as a wet fart. The more Type O Negative gets closer to The Beatles, the worse their music gets.
The medley cover is also a head-scratcher to me. Are you telling me that the guy who said that rock that didn't upset you isn't really Rock was a fan of The Beatles? The most common denominator, inoffensive rock band on the planet? It might have been a way to make the metalheads mad and subvert the idea he was just a macho man or a jock, I don't know. Besides, making your label pay 75k bucks for a song sounds like a story you could tell afterwards. The joke wouldn't be worth it for me, but well, I have been told he genuinely enjoyed the music and he even noodled their riffs at concerts. So, well, let's just leave it at that.
While Pyretta Blaze and Day Tripper aren't particularly fulfilling for me, we are in luck because there are three songs from these sessions that aren't included in the album but still saw the light in The Least Worst Of. First is 12 Black Rainbows. It is alright, just one of the most straightforward songs emotionally that feels more like a simple Black Sabbath song but more upbeat and pop, kinda fun. The other two, damn, let me tell you, damn. It's Never Enough is a fantastic whirlwind of religious connotations that spirals between anger and a feeling of expiation. It reminds me a bit of the closer songs of Demanufacture. And finally, Stay Out of My Dreams, a hell of a closer that goes in full speed and with a maniacal laugh in its face. While the closer of October Rust felt like Peter taking you by the hand and swearing you loyalty beyond the end of space and time after the dream, this song feels also like the end of the dream. But he is not staying with you; he is running away and leaving you deep down in a pit of despair he pushed you toward through the whole album! It is absolutely fantastic, I tell you.
Overall, yes, the music is a bit more on the nose, a little less emotionally kaleidoscopic, but it feels as harrowing as ever, fun as ever, anthemic as ever, and big and melodramatic as ever. This is yet another album of Slow Motion Pop Metal perfection in the hands of a disillusioned, a bit of a loser soul. If you are both of these, just like me, just like that absolute moron of Peter, you will probably find a lot to love in this album. I think that you have the right to cry both the pains you cause yourself as a fool and the pains the world brings on you. I think Kenny sings more in this album and I don't like that because his register is different to mine so it is harder to sing his parts lmao, but when Peter is on, you bet your ass I used my deep male voice, and sang with all my lungs. What a blast.
Custom Tracklist: 1. Skip It 2. White Slavery 3. Sinus 4. Everyone I Love Is Dead 5. Creepy Green Light 6. Who Will Save the Sane? 7. Liver 8. World Coming Down 9. Everything Dies 10. Lung 11. All Hallows Eve 12. It's Never Enough 13. Stay Out of My Dreams Running Time: 1h 17m.

*slides to his side*
Sooooo...dear Mr. Tenna, what do you think of musicals?
*puts my arm around him*
I admit that when I was younger, I had an extreme passion for theater and music, so much so that I was a theater gentleboy.
*puts my hand on my chest*
I would let my voice out like it was nothing, reaching every tone, soprano, alto and tenor~
And I did my best to do my acting as well as my singing.
*sighs*
Musicals are wonderful...
*sniffs*
...it makes me want to cry just thinking about those masterpieces...
*wipes away a tear*

You're so multifaceted!! I just LOVE a musical!
Having the audience hang on your every word, soaking up the stage presence, the lighting, costumes, THE DRAMA!
You're able to sing ALL of those ranges?!
It's only fair I pass the idea to my team and help you shine just as much as you do with your costumes... Oh stage!
It'd be a golden opportunity, what do you think?

toqger... unsurprisingly remains unseated from its place on my tierlist as an untouchable masterpiece.
which is obviously kind of a hyperbole category, sure. even toqger does have things i'd change about it. 2 or 3 episodes that are kind of questionable. worldbuilding of the rainbow and shadow lines that i wish was a little deeper.
but when i sit back and look at it it's really like. the most ideal form that super sentai has ever taken. cute, brightly colored, emotional & genuinely funny for both children and adults. a cast of charming heroes who love one another. creative fight scene setpieces & choreo. suit acting full of personality. the pinnacle of kaijin suit design & craftsmanship in this franchise. multifaceted villains. a plot that is something kids can follow the broad strokes of, but the more complex maneuverings of which are interesting for older audiences. subtextual mythological allusions woven in that you have to seek out.
there's just no beating this ever, i don't think. it's been almost a decade now and no season has been as good since and i think it's safe to say probably never will be again. and i've certainly felt disappointed & frustrated by that over the years, but maybe it's ok, actually. not every franchise is lucky enough to see its absolute potential realized in the way that toqger realized it for sentai. & then to even keep on going after that. all these seasons since are really like a nice bonus, when you think about it.
for one beautiful year there was ressha sentai toqger, and, to quote another influential work of fiction, everything else is confetti.
