I know I'm in the right class bc today the teacher used "little cloud" and "little square" for the examples instead of, oh yk... Numbers?🍀
#to be clear this was an EXAMPLE of something he had already defined for a general case#little cloud and little square weren't unknown or variable. like they weren't acting as a fun alternative to x and y#but to be fair numbers weren't necessarily needed for the operation we were using they just look nicer ig#the teachers in this class seem fun. they're really nice nd helpful also. we vibe.

why is photography the most expensive hobby ever
like anyone can just take photos on ur phone for fun. so in that sense it's a hobby with a low barrier of entry bc most people have a phone. but once you start getting into actual cameras and different lenses, and you start caring about things like wide apertures, chromatic aberration, focus sharpness, etc.....things begin to add up Fast
#today's woe: realized that my new lens that i got a few months ago no longer fits my nd filters#bc theyre 58 mm and my new lens is 77 mm#sooooooo i have to go buy more filters for the new lens.#at least this time i can try a variable nd filter instead of carrying around 8 of them like i did before#.......i bought step up rings to avoid this in the future so that i can use my new nd filter with the other lenses#bc i realized that now my main 3 lenses are ALL DIFFERENT SIZES#i also got a polarizing filter since i never had one. did you know they're more expensive at 77 mm compared to 58 mm? sigh#also im mad i didnt think of a polarizing filter sooner bc i suspect it would have helped me greatly with the wedding photography#bc i had issues with glares (and most people have shiny foreheads and stuff bc of the overhead lighting)#perhaps. if i had thought of polarizing filters sooner. i could have mitigated that somewhat?#whatever we learn and grow#and unfortunately photography is the type of hobby where learning sometimes means money for new gear#............................................i also spent $100 on a tripod last week#listen. look. i needed something close to full height. that was lightweight enough for travel. that folded up well enough for travel.#that could also hold a heavyish lens.#and that meant $100 on a carbon fiber tripod#(i also learned that $100 is on the cheap end of tripods. so many people spend $300+????)

Infinity symbols: a guide to their variations
Infinity symbols are popular in graphic design for good reason. In this post, I'm gonna describe ways to vary up the designs of infinity symbols. My goal is to educate fellow neurodivergent people on how to make infinity symbols that don't look like the Métis flag.
The neurodiversity community has been using rainbow infinity symbols since 2005. Here are neurodiversity flags from 2013, 2016, and 2019:
However, there's a problem with some of the new flag designs for a flag that is autism-specific. Here are some of the contenders:

These use a solid white infinity symbol. The solid white infinity curve is a symbol of Métis.
The Métis flag, created in 1815, has a white lemniscate on red background. Nowadays the Métis use the blue version more often. And to the right is the Métis queer pride flag:
For those unfamiliar, the Métis are one of the major Indigenous groups in what is now Canada, with most of their >600,000 population in the western and central parts of the country. The word métis means half-breed in French; lower-case m métis refers to those with mixed Indigenous and European ancestry. Capital-M Métis refers to the specific culture of métis that emerged, distinct from both Indigenous and settler cultures, and speaking hybrid languages such as Michif.
The issue of likeness has been brought up many times. While I can believe the autistic flag makers didn't know about the issue when making their designs, I know at least one of them was promptly informed of the issue and dismissed it.
The autistic community writ large has been pretty dismissive about this issue. I wonder if some of the defensiveness comes from not seeing an alternative - thinking that infinity symbol design is all or nothing.
I have some good news: it's possible to make infinity symbols that don't look Métis!
HOW INFINITY SYMBOLS VARY (PART ONE)
ASPECT A: TOPOLOGY
The first way we can categorize infinity symbols is their topology. These four varieties are most common
Topology 1: Open infinity symbol - this is the oldest style of using a figure-8 shape to represent the mathematical concept of infinity. On the left is the version Euler used.
-
Topology 2: Lemniscate - a closed curve. On the left is the Metis flag. The curve is one solid entity: notice how the rainbow gradient on the right fills the whole thing.
-
Topology 3: Infinity *loop* - imagine you take a hair tie or rubber band and twist it. One part of the infinity loop is clearly in front, with another part clearly behind it. Loops are well established for neurodiversity and I think we should stick to using these.
Notice in the left example how the pattern flips between left and right. Also compare the rainbow gradient on the right to the lemniscate rainbow gradient above it. -
Topology 4: Infinity *ribbon* - instead of a hair tie, use a ribbon. Ribbons have sides, producing an infinity loop that shows two sides.
-
ASPECT B: THICKNESS
Line width can vary, which also helps to convey a loop! Again, I think we should be sticking to infinity loops when it comes to autistic/ND designs.
Option 1: Constant Thickness The lemniscate on the Metis flag has a constant line width, as does this neurodiversity rainbow gradient from 2016. I think we should avoid constant thickness.
-
Option 2: Variable Thickness A variable thickness can help to reinforce that an infinity symbol is a loop rather than a solid lemniscate. There are a lot of ways to play with line thickness!
Many neurodiversity infinities are variable thickness and I think we should opt for this to steer clear of Metis territory.
THIS WILL BE CONTINUED IN A SECOND POST (tumblr has a limit of 30 images per post)
But just in case the second post gets lost in reblogs: I think variable thickness, combined with a loop topology, is what we should be using for neurodiversity & autism. E.g.

AGT Team March - April Progress Report
As we head into May, we're wishing the best of luck to all those entering finals season. We hope this update will provide a reminder of some things to look forward to!
[PS2] Fullmetal Alchemist 3: The Girl Who Succeeds God
The first round of proofreading for FMA 3 has officially begun! As well as fixing typos and checking for bugs, there is also a fair amount of lines which need manual word wrapping or trimming down, as shown here.
[NDS] Death Note: Successors to L
Following our last update, our hacker, Illidan, was able to make even more improvements to the font rendering, allowing the variable-width font to display as intended. As you can see, the letters are now more condensed, giving us some much needed extra room for the translations!
[NDS] Mushishi: Amefuru Sato
As the final proofreading round of Mushishi continues to progress, we've been able to use the feedback we've received from testers to improve some instructions about the various stylus-based mechanics featured in the game.
Other
Although things may seem a little quiet on the home front, behind the scenes we have been working on two as-of-yet unannounced projects. If things go as planned, one of them should be ready for release by the end of summer, so please keep your eyes peeled!

Neurodivergents often think in complex systems.
Our inability to plan comes from the challenges of reducing an infinitely complex system down to a few “relevant” components.
NDs are affected by the world more - as in we can tune it out less. (Or differently.)You could say we’re more reactive. We are impacted by our environment to a larger extent.
This creates a large component of our behavior that is outside of our control - the environment.
And so our output will vary more - from very effective to very ineffective.
We can be very capable under the right conditions.
Or we can be very incapable under the wrong ones.
When we plan - we NEED to plan for that variability of experience.
We plan in complex systems.
It’s not effective.
But It’s also correct.

I love fog theory for chronic fatigue
Used to love spoon theory for it to measure amounts of energy tasks take but for several reasons I wanna drop it
Fog fits for chronic fatigue in the way that it weighs on us and gets heavier through the day
I wanna offer a new thing to combine both the measurement of energy required for a task and the increase in exhaustion over the day that can fluctuate due to many variables.
Fuel. We run on energy like vehicles, our bodies are our vehicles, tasks and trips take fuel and the less fuel we have the more exhausted we feel.
I understand some people don't feel comfortable using fuel or refering to their body as a vehicle, even though fuel is still used as a term to refer to providing energy and nutrients to a human body, so i offer a possible, more comfortable term.
A few options; power level, stamina bar, juice/charge(though it may pose a similar problem in an electrical context of use and is still pretty close to battery power which is more so used for social interaction), skill points, endurance bar/points or even just the term points/credits/provisions/supplies/stock whatever word related to something that can be quantified and exchanged/spent/used that you feel fits best.
And of course instead of knives from spoon theory, we have /ammunition/. (I feel it's a stronger term, doesn't always mean bullets as all sorts of artillery need ammunition, your rage requires ammunition not just knives)
This is physically disabled exclusive, able-bodied ND's can keep the battery and stolen spoons. As this is specifically in reference to the physically body and not mental energy. (If you argue that mental conditions affect the body and thus you feel these terms apply, congrats you're not who I'm talking about you're not able-bodied because your body is still hindered.)
Would love to see more discussion on terms I'm just offering not making anything official rn

What's stopping you?
So you've read a ton of information on Tumblr (maybe even some books) and now you feel lost. And even though you want to apply, you feel stuck. Why? Well, there's too many possible variables on why someone could be feeling this way but I'll cover a few.
Personally for me, that all stopped when I found the teachings and practices that truly resonated with me & not what was popular here, I've branched out from what 4dbarbie has taught; I'm on my own path that I got led to and chose, and it feels right. And there's a strong sense of peace and certainty once you recognise and know what resonates for you personally; that's YOUR truth. The end goal is the same for everyone but the way there will differ depending on the person, their level of spiritual maturity, state of mind etc.
When asked once by Swami Yogananda, a Swami with a large following in America, what spiritual instruction should be given to the people for their uplift, Ramana Maharshi replied: “It depends on the temperament and spiritual maturity of the individual. There can be no mass instruction.”
I'll always be grateful to 4dbarbie for introducing me to non-duality and there was a time when her teachings were what I needed but now I'm on my own path doing practices that work for me which is what she encouraged too.
So maybe you keep holding off & feel unsure about it all because what you've read from teachings doesn't feel right for you personally. Don't force it to fit where it doesn't. Be bold and branch out of Tumblr and the 'mass instruction' if that doesn't sit right within you (be honest with yourself and you'll know). Find the teachings & practices that resonate with your spiritual heart & inspire you to live that truth honestly. Cut down on the sources you read from and only stick to the ones that resonate with you.
And I know there's some or a lot of people who follow so many accounts on here (LOA/void/ND) but how are you going to go forward and practice anything when you have so much conflicting information? You can't simultaneously manifest/fulfill desires and let go of the ego; their directions are complete opposites. Pick a path and stick to it. Stop flip flopping then feeling bad for not going anywhere. Your indecision is the cause of this. And I said before to be discerning of what you read too, when you stick to few sources that you know are genuine and resonate with you personally, there is little room for confusion on the truth and what you need to apply daily. This also applies to what you read on. If you can't read about multiple things without getting confused or swayed from the path, cut it out already. What value is LOA/void information anyway when you're on the ND path and vice versa? Zero; it's just a waste of your time. So stop it already.
This is just an intuitive guess on what could be causing resistance to some of you practicing and living this honestly but ultimately you'll need to dig into it yourself and figure it out. It's not something that a post will be able to cover completely as everyone is different. For anything else in life, self-discipline would be really important but I think desire for freedom is the most important and would drive anyone that has it to keep applying faithfully every day without having to force themselves to do it. Self-discipline might be more important when you start out but ultimately this has to be something that you live and breathe every day without effort.

hemera x miley is my favorite (qpr) sparklecare ship... theyre both desperate to keep their loved ones safe nd i think hemera sees a bit of herself in mileys behavior since she used to be a lot rowdier
wait ur so right. ur so correct. wheres the hemiley content!! why wasn’t THAT in cometcare!!! i would’ve KILLED to see hemera x miley over miley x doom honesty. it’s not in the ask but when i think abt it i don’t think personally they’d have a kid or anything or even be given one (there’s already So Many Fucking Kids). but if anyone feels like designing one i’m interested to see what kind of design could come outta that… (even if i also don’t rlly like miley’s cometcare design cause. WOW is she an ugly neon pastel with zero variability)
#sparklecrit#any relationship between these two other than romantic would be so peak#but no only hemarrie is canon. of course#🪄✉️

hi kat, ive been following for a while ✌ im an allistic (nd) person going through a breakup with my recent-ex boyfriend who is autistic. reddit and blogs and one friend with close experience with an austic sibling have been my resources through our relationship and breakup, because ive tried super hard to understand something that is way complex and layered and variable and not something i have lived experience with.
i could sit here and explain all the idiosyncrasies of our misunderstandings. but honestly im just upset because his lack of awareness of my feelings and communication style hurts me. i understand intellectually its not personal or about me and i can't change him, but it still hurts. i wish accommodating our differences could have been more of an equal effort. but even having said that, im sure he's done a lot of accommodating that i don't know about for stuff i don't think twice about
honestly this relationship has taught me a lot about owning my own emotions and expectations. im just feeling isolated because im supposed to suck it up, according to a lot of the discourse ive read. and intellectually, i have and understand; but emotionally im still consistently hurting.
aren't relationships about understanding the other's point of you and compromising where you can?
im rambling. thank you for reading. im just hurting and am struggling with how to cope and what to think because i don't want to act out of ignorance.
It is! But autism is a genuine social disability, and in many cases an autistic person genuinely won't have the same mental capability to communicate, understand differences, compromise and change their behavior as an allistic person. This does NOT mean that they're excused from making an effort or that they get to be unrepentant assholes. It also doesn't mean that YOUR patience and effort should be endless, or that it's inherently wrong of you to decide to walk away. But expecting the same level of social ability from an autistic person and an allistic person doesn't make much sense in practice
