#New Deal For Animation

I’m not really someone who wants to weigh in on what’s been going on with animation, but after the miracle of streaming came to be and Hollywood executives saw what they could do with their franchises and businesses, I realized I couldn’t remain silent any longer. I��ve had it with so many greedy executive producers acquiring film and animation studios that were never theirs to begin with, and shutting down various animation studios for the sake of corporate greed, as well as the cancellation of various projects for stupid bills to “keep their companies afloat”! Enough is enough! They are not only trying to steal our childhoods, but our futures as well as the futures of many children who aspire to become animators(even if the shows they watch are brainrot lol).

As you probably know already, the Animation Guild is holding a “Stand with animation” rally today in Burbank, and I thought to myself why not hold my own rally at my home, although being a thousand miles from where I’m from. So, I did hold my own protest but it was very hot outside so I had to come back inside but while the WGA and IATSE continue to defend for their professions and futures, I thought it would be wise to post some of the posters that I’ve made throughout 2024. I was originally wanting to protest on my own on March, I thought today was the right time to do it.

Notice that the 3rd sign, I made was featuring Kitty Bobo, who I would’ve loved to have gotten a chance to greenlight since it didn’t back in 2001. David Zaslav, I still haven’t not forgiven you for shutting down Cartoon Network Studios and Rooster Teeth for the sake of “money, money, money”, and I’m still mad that you closed down the Cartoon Network website for that aforementioned reason, and on behalf of many kids and NEETs right now who wanted to work there as well as other studios recently shut down unjustly, you will not get away with robots being your prized possessions! Time is up, Zaslav!!

oh it’s okay, I know Pangur well enough by now to be able to predict the next few months. she’s always like this with new cats - there’s the intense fear period (which we’ve mostly passed through), then the raw seething hatred period (currently in), and then either acceptance and sociability or a reduced, livable amount of hatred.

it’s the “you have to break a few eggs to make an omelette” principle, except instead of eggs it’s Pangur’s sanity (temporarily), and instead of an omelette it’s an enriching social environment. I’m hoping that once we get through the bad, this will end up being a net good for her.

another thing that’s fucked up about isekai is sometimes they start over from zero like they’re reincarnated as a baby, but to avoid having to write about a literal baby with the memories of an adult, they don’t regain the memory of their original life until they are like 7 or 10 or whatever other age. which tbh is haunting as hell like imagine one day your child starts acting avoidant and strange and you don’t know what happened to them. do they ever feel conflict between the 7 year old prince and the 30 year old tokyo salaryman, the child princess and the otaku high school student, wondering which life is real? or is the child’s personality completely overwritten, reduced to a hazy series of memories in an adult’s mind? in a world with no connection to earth, the original life might as well be a hallucination. unless the isekai world is a video game the mc once played and don’t even get me started on that

Rum and Tumb ARE demons, but the Devil made them specifically to replace Cuphead and Mugman for him. The Devil did his best to make them look as much like the twins as possible (and he got pretty close, all things considering)!

Here's a reference of their base form colors, and all the notes of the small differences they have compared to the twins.

Cuphead and Mugman were the best, most efficient repossession men the Devil had ever had, so the Devil wanted to hire them full time (and of course, get their souls in the process), and after they refused, the Devil got a bit obsessed with the idea of having them anyway.

Rummer and Tumbler were the first and only attempt at making his own.
