I’ll Crawl Home to Her (Work Song)

In which Eugene Roe would crawl to her if he had to.

Boy’s working on empty,

Is that the kinda way to face the burning heat?

Eugene Roe had been working to the bone. His fingers smeared with a mixture of blood and dirt. He wasn’t sure where his own blood had mingled with the other men’s.

He hadn’t slept in 16 hours. Or perhaps it was closer to 20. He wasn’t sure. The sun had started to peak over the treetops. The snow a gray sludge littered with shrapnel and splintered wood. He couldn’t stop, darting between foxholes, checking on the men. He couldn’t rest, not yet.

I just think about my baby

When the bombs started dropping at around 3am, and Gene scrambled to his foxhole all he could do was pray. He pleaded with God and Saint Francis. Lord, grant that I shall never seek as much to be consoled as to console, to be understood as to understand, or to be loved as to love with all my heart. With all my heart.

Her picture lay in his breast pocket, Tucked between a carton of cigarettes and his scissors. The edges torn and frail. As the bombs splinter the trees and chunks of mud splatter over his body, her eyes burn into his mind like precious jewels. As he curled into the foxhole, he could so vividly see her hair glistening in the Louisiana sun. He’d take her there, after the war. She would meet his maman, and he’d take her out on the bayou.

I’m so full of love I could barley eat

It was her birthday today, Eugene thought as he sat with his cooling cup of beans. He wasn’t hungry. Just thinking about her, was enough to keep him going. The thought of her soft hands, unstained, her clothes not covered in blood. That was enough for him.

His heart quickened when he thought of her. When the world is free from war, i’ll follow you wherever you go, cherie he had promised her the last time he saw her. He meant it. Every word. He’d follow her to the ends of the earth, the thought alone was enough to keep him moving.

I’d never want once from the Cherry tree

When they moved from the Bois Jacques and into Germany all Gene could think about was how he wanted to whisk her away to a chateau in the mountains. He couldn’t imagine how a man like Hitler could live in such a place when his cherie wasn’t.

He didn’t indulge himself like the rest of the men. The wine was too sweet. Something she would have loved. no. He didn’t need any of it, the war would soon be over and that was enough for him.

She gives me toothaches just from kissing me

Before he left, Gene would routinely walk to the house she was staying in. Knocking on the front door and greeting the kind elderly couple she stayed with, and every time her sweet summer dresses would knock the wind out of his chest. The smile she gave him was kind, it was good. She was always the sweetest, a hand holding his as they walked through the streets, tucked under his arm as she softly rattled on about her garden.

When my time comes around, Lay me gently in the cold dark earth

The bombing of the Bois Jacques forest kept Eugene busy. He was always running between breaks of shellfire, making sure the men weren’t hit, and fixing them up when they were. He couldn’t stop, not when they needed him. His fingers were numb, pink and stiff from where they held the back of his head. He had no time to think about anything but surviving and making sure the men survived.

When the shelling would stop, and the men were accounted for, he looked through the splintered branches of the tress, dirt for a bed. Exhausted wasn’t a strong enough word for what he felt. He ached in his bones, so tired he thought he may not even get out of the foxhole come first light. If he didn’t, the last thing he’d think about was her

No grave can hold my body down, I’ll crawl home to her

When the war ended and Eugene dressed in his best formal greens. He was a shell of the man he was before the war. The English winter did little to aid the persistent ache in his bones. He stood out the front of her house, the door still painted blue. He made a promise, and dammit he was going to fulfil it.

When the door swung open and her arms hugged him tighter than he felt he deserved, all he could do was sigh at the smell of her shampoo, and cling to her tighter.

Battered and bruised both mentally and physically, nothing would have stopped him from coming back to her, to his home.

↳ Summary: The Canadian army gave almost a million souls to the Great War. On the morning of November 11th, the shelling stops and Lance struggles to adapt to the silence.

November 1918

The sound of shellfire almost felt comforting to Lance after four years spent at the front. When the news of the impending armistice came, he had almost forgotten what silence was like, what life was like before the khaki uniforms and the weapons and the mud. It felt entirely foreign. He would have to sail back to Canada and return to a land untouched by war, to people who didn’t understand. For four years he had been filled with this pit of loneliness. Surrounded by thousands of men constantly and yet war was so damn lonely. 

The men with whom he enlisted back in 1914 were all long since deceased; their bodies blown to smithereens and rotting in battlefields or crudely buried in makeshift graves behind the Allied front lines. Making friends was futile—they would be killed before you formed a proper friendship—and Lance had learned that the hard way, more times than he cared to admit. Perhaps he was naïve. 

Lance swore that the fact he was still alive was equal parts a miracle and a curse. He thought about it before; taking his own life. It would be so easy to just dislodge his bayonet from his rifle and stab himself in the stomach (never in the chest; the blade would get stuck between the ribs. That was their first lesson in training camp) and bleed out in the murky waters of the Belgian trenches with the ever-grey skies stretched out above him. 

But, as much as Lance wanted to put an end to his own suffering and the suffering of the hundreds of thousands of men alongside him, he knew he was no coward. No way on God’s blasted Earth was he going to subject his parents to the letter from the General that their son had died a coward’s death. So he sat in the mud and he waited for an absolution for four fucking years. 

On the morning of November 11th, it had become common knowledge that at eleven o’clock, Germany’s surrender would be in effect and all fighting would halt. Lance, who had worked his way up to the rank of Lieutenant over his four years at the front, ensured that his platoon knew that they were still in active combat until the clock struck. There was to be no lollygagging. That was how you got shot.  

Bombardments from both sides stretched on through the morning and every time Lance watched one of his men fall, dead, at his feet, he wondered if this was all worth it. His pocket watch, with its glass cracked from some earlier battle he had fought and won, counted up the minutes towards the top of the hour. He swore he heard cheering behind the shellfire, cheering in anticipation for the ceasefire. 

Lance joined his men for a last hurrah; standing at the parapet of their intricate trenches carved through the heart of the Earth. He had grown up into a man in those trenches, learning what it was to live and die in that rat infested grime from his first day as a Private at the ripe age of eighteen. In a way, war was all he knew. As he stood there on the firestep, Lee Enfield rifle pointed out towards No Man’s Land and firing at will, he wondered if life after would be far more hellish than war itself. 

He had a nephew back home in Montreal, his sister had written to tell him. She had given birth almost a year prior by then. He had yet to meet the little fella. Part of him didn’t want to. How could he even think to touch something so precious and innocent with hands that had killed hundreds of men? In the privacy of his own mind, Lance silently hoped for the final German bullet to hit him square between the eyes. 

Instead, the top of the hour came and the Belgian battlefields fell silent—ear-ringing silent. While most of the men cheered and tossed aside their weapons and shared embraces of camaraderie, that the worst was over, Lance was amongst the few who were stunned motionless. 

He lowered his rifle from the parapet and let the butt of it fall to the firestep under his feet with a dull clunk before it toppled over onto the mud with a wet splat. His boot followed, stepping down, one and then the other, his expression solemn and unflinching even as men bustled around him, jostling him to and fro. 

Lance flopped down into one of the dugouts in the wall of the trench as if his legs could no longer hold him up. He rested back against the familiar Earth, the damp soil that smelt of rain and corpses, and he turned his eyes upwards to the sky. Men around him thanked God for this joyous end. God? There was no God. God was as dead as the rest of them. 

He reached up with muddy fingers and pulled off his helmet as his body melted into the shape of the small dugout. His dark hair was plastered across his forehead in mud, sweat, blood…his skin tinged a permanent murky orange-brown hue from it too. He couldn’t remember the last time he looked in a mirror. The thought alone filled him with dread. Everything now, every thought, held an undertone of dread.

The uncertainty of war was constant and reassuring: fight to live or die. It was black and white. 

The certainty of the comforts and luxuries of life outside of it was fucking terrifying. 

While the world celebrated peace, Lance sat.

He put his face in his soiled hands and he sat, and sat, and sat. 

And waited for an absolution.

Random HTTYD Headcanons

Someone once tied together the Boneknapper and Death Song, saying that the former would hang around the game sites of the latter and then collect the bones and I agree with that so much. I’d love to re-find that post so I can credit the blog responsible because they are so, so real for this! I had to mention it because it’s such an under-appreciated take. (ETA: I found the original post here, by @dragonjadearts — thank you for this headcanon I think about it all the time.)

Changewings started to put their eggs in trees to deter Cavern Crashers from eating them.

Red Changewings are the ones that inhabit Changewing Island. Green Changewings are from further south.

Male Thunderdrums are actually the primary caretakers of young Thunderdrums. Both parents will look after and protect the eggs until they hatch but after they do the mother often leaves.

Additionally, Thunderdrums will also transport their eggs and/or hatchlings in their mouth.

Thornado and Skullcrusher have actually met. Thornado had gone out when Bing, Bang, and Boom were asleep and visited Berk, hoping to meet up with Stoick alone only to find another dragon by his chair. The encounter was awkward at first for all three parties, with Stoick trying to break the ice, but once the two dragons recognised what they had in common, they became very friendly and respecting of one another.

The Rumblehorn naturally hunts boars as its primary food source. As opposed to fishing for saltwater fish like other dragons, they also fish for freshwater fish like salmon.

Like the Submaripper and Shellfire, and the Skrill and Singetail, the Rumblehorn and Catastrophic Quaken are naturally opposing species.

Dark Deep was originally the home of the Catastrophic Quaken, not the Gronckle. Due to the sheer number of invading Gronckles, the Quaken was then mostly pushed out.

Gronckles are like the rabbits of the dragon world. They can reproduce from a young age and very often and with high egg counts.

Dragons like the Razorwhip, Timberjack, and Typhoomerang have shorter lifespans in comparison to other species.

Barb-shooting dragons grow their spikes like hair/teeth. The spines that are shot out out are ones that are knocked loose by new roots.

The more distinguishable the colours of each head, the older a Zippleback is.

Zipplebacks evolved from a mutation caused by inefficient embryo separation which means most if not all members of the species distantly share the same common ancestor.

Whip & Lash, Bucket and Mulch’s dragon, is actually female.

Bucket is related to the Thorstons.

The twins removed the S from the alphabet in Reign of Fireworms to annoy Snotlout.

The riders have contemplated who is most likely to turn into a Mildew-type, and most of them have come to the agreement that it would be Tuffnut. Chicken is his Fungus.

Mildew actually has a soft spot for Flystorm. Away from the knowing gazes of others he indulges in petting him and giving him fish, muttering “That’s nice,” as he would with Fungus.

Spitelout treats Kingstail better than anyone ever. As such all of his past methodology surrounding dragons is now in vain, and very hypocritical. (That sword analogy? How dare you compare ol’ Kingstail to that, boyo?)

Fishlegs is actually an only child (he’s always stricken me as one and it boggles me if he isn’t). Those kids he teaches in the Gronckle Scouts are actually his younger cousins. They call him ‘uncle’ due to him babysitting a lot and the difference in their ages. Fishlegs has a lot of cousins.

Fishlegs’ mother, Termagant, owns a Snaptrapper by the name of Arrogance, Innocence, Patience & Conscience. This means that Meatlug has older brothers (and a sister. Technically. Allegedly.). At first they were a bit too mischievous/privy with one another for her liking, making them seem like they were hanging up in her a bit, but they eventually got used to one another.

And yes, she makes all six of her children crab cakes.

The Monstrous Nightmare that Valka saves in HTTYD 2 is the one that took Gobber’s hand.

The Night Fury and Light Fury evolved via something similar to the Peppered Moth Evolution. Whichever one was the original species, however, is still unknown.

Gustav is allergic to peanuts.

Fanghook actually has a fear of setting things on fire.

Hiccup sees a lot of his younger self in Gustav, but it frustrates him that Gustav takes a bit more after Snotlout sometimes.

Gustav’s mother actually wanted to call him “Hiccup” (being the runt) but didn’t want to upstage the chief or confuse people, so she chose “Gustav” (meaning god’s staff or popular guest) to be ironic.

Snotlout was originally proud to have Gustav model himself after him, but when growing up and maturing on the Edge he realised that Gustav was or could be reckless because of it and started to resent him for being a “cheap copy” of him.

Hookfang has a soft spot for Gustav, mostly when he was younger. Since Gustav got Fanghook, his patience has been less withstanding.

The dragon with the least patience for kids is actually Stormfly. Just after would be either Barf & Belch or Hookfang, but by a long shot. Hookfang holds more patience for younger kids than older ones.

Spitelout for some reason shows more outwards appreciation towards Gustav, but argues with him over being leader of the A Team.

I do think that when The Nine Realms misses with their designs, they miss HARD, but some of their designs are okay, if at times oversaturated (or with clashing colours), or unfinished looking.

Some say magic died when a hail of shellfire tore an ancient god asunder. Others say it died when the whistle of engines dragged an old world kicking and screaming into a new one. Yet more say it died when the wheels of progress ground the very building blocks of the universe apart into ordered lists and categories. It has been said it died when some long lost soul first harnessed the all consuming light of fire to keep away greater evils that haunted the shadows.

But magic is not dead.

If you venture long enough into the wild lands you can find it, scorched and scarred, battered but not broken. Ancient beings who’s rattling voices sing ballads of fall and fallow; Good People who ask for your name and offer you a deal; silent colossi passing beneath trees that reach to the heavens; beasts that stalked the flickering borders of ancient campfires, and kind travellers who no longer know how long they have wandered these lands.

If you follow the coast you can find it, hear it in faint songs barely distinguishable above the breaking of the waves; see it in the dark shapes that glide over the reefs and shoals; be told of it in epic tales as sailors boast of their victories, and if you stay you might overhear whispers of awe and dread of the rage and might of what dwells within pelagic storms, those spirits who never returned from the sea, and the unfathomable might of leviathans known only to the cachalot and those rare few glimpsing a shadow in the depths.

If you travel through the country you can find it, temples of corrugated metal and bricks; archaic machines held together with welds, duct tape and dimly glowing runes; laughing farmhands heaving clods of soil from the earth to lob at eachother; faerie rocks jeering from the centre of a plowed field; forgotten gods standing motionless amongst the wheat; long abandoned churches that never fall into disrepair; half forgotten sigils carved into fence posts to ward off the Things in the night, and the eyes that yet still burn like red moons between the stalks of corn.

In the cities you can find it, in the prophecies etched and sprayed upon the subway walls by robed sages and masked youths; in the pig iron shrines to gods of the forge tucked in every nook and cranny of a foundry; in the clubs and bars that you can only find when you are shown them or when a full moon looms above; in the figures kneeled in the light of the street lamps and the shapes that lurk beyond their reach; in the graffiti that can race and dance or slowly shift upon the faces of buildings older than countries and refuse to be removed; in the timeworn temples that had the city built around them; in the druids of lawns and weeds; in the mages that carve their baseball bats with symbols of power and fill their trench coat pockets with glador brewed in basements and lifted from stores; in the bards that busk at the city crossroads and send ballads streaking across the globe in a crackle of sparks and binary; and in the warlocks both of new gods with bones of steel, veins of fire and skin a tough as concrete, and of the old gods that seep out like moss from the pavement as they refuse to be forgotten.

So as you go about your busy days, give a swift greeting to the magpies that watch and wait from the roofs and branches; pass a murmur of respect to the faerie oak that stands like an island in a sea of concrete; ignore the shapes glimpsed from the windows at night but draw the blinds and lock the doors. And always remember. That magic is not dead.

And the Wingmaidens? What are the Razorwhips gonna do now??

Albino Night Terrors would be fine within THW but how tf are they supposed to get there?? Same with Whispering Deaths. At least Sandbusters can burrow I think but like... all the way under the sea?? That's impossible.

What are the aquatic dragons supposed to do? Thunderdrums I can get but Sea Shockers? Scauldrons? Shellfires? Submarippers?

Please for the love of Thor tell me you didn't bring the Screaming Death to THW.

A Hiccup!Whump prompt for every episode of RTTE seasons 1-6

Season 1

1. Eye of the Beholder Part 1-The trap that was at the bottom of the ladder actually grabs Hiccup’s RIGHT foot and creates such deep gashes that cut through everything but the bone.

2. Eye of the Beholder Part 2-Hiccup gets some form of frostbite when he falls into a giant snow pile thanks to the Snow Wraith.

3. Imperfect Harmony-Hiccup sees the Death Song about to kill a dragon but can’t try to help it because he has to be discrete while taking the Thunder Drum to save the other riders, so he sneaks around the Death Song’s boneyard and has to ignore the victim dragon’s calls.

4. When Darkness Falls-When Smidvarg is fighting in the net he is captured in, he escapes and screams in Hiccup’s ear causing him to lose most of his hearing in one ear and become dizzy.

5. Big Man On Berk-Hiccup gets bitten by the Scauldron and has a bleeding gash in his right thigh. 

6. Gone Gustav Gone-When the cave starts collapsing, Hiccup breaks his collar bone when a falling rock hits him just after he saved Gustav.

7. Reign of Fireworms-While his prosthetic gets caught in or under something, a few rogue Fireworms land on Hiccup’s shoulder and arm, burning his arm severely. Toothless of course saves him, but not before the damage is done.

8. Crushing It-Instead of Stoick getting taken into the air by the Rumblehorn, ‘SkullCrusher’ as he will later be named tramples Hiccup, breaking many bones.

9. Quake, Rattle and Roll-One of the Gronkles is skittish and spits lava on Hiccup.

10. Have Dragon Will Travel, Part 1-When Heather throws the tree at Hiccup, it catches his mid torso and throws him off of Toothless, making him fall to the shallow water below before Toothless or Windshere can catch him.

11. Have Dragon Will Travel, Part 2-Emotional Whump, Hiccup turns out to be Heather’s twin and Dagur’s little brother.

12. The Next Big Sting-Hiccup is paralyzed by the chief Speed Stinger and the venom lasts for a few days as his body reacts oddly to the effects. He is unable to speak or move for days, and just watches everything else happen on The Edge in the Clubhouse, unable to speak his mind which leads to him being extremely fidgety once he can finally move again.

13. Total Nightmare-Just when the Titan Wing Monstrous Nightmare begins to chase Snotlout, his giant wing knocks Hiccup back a few feat causing a head injury when he hits a tree.

Season 2

1. Team Astrid-Emotional Whump. During the attack from Dagur the top half of the Haddock Household is destroyed, including all of Hiccup’s old inventions, journals, and the stuffed dragon his mother once made for him.

2. Night of The Hunters, Part 1-Hiccup gets shot in the left shoulder (because he’s left handed) with a dragon root arrow.

3. Night of The Hunters, Part 2-The mamma whispering death accidentally cuts Hiccup with one of her poisonous spines and Snotlout has to doctor and drain the wound.

4. Bad Moon Rising-When the wolf escapes from the bag Snotlout is carrying it in, it attacks Hiccup instead of Snotlout. 

5. Snotlout Gets The Axe-Hiccup gets blinded by the ArmorWing.

6. The Zippleback Experience-When one of his prosthetic legs breaks Hiccup gets a cut that leads to an infection.

7. Snow Way Out-The arrow Ryker shoots at Hiccup actually hits him, cutting his side and exposing his rib.

8. Edge Of Disaster, Part 1-Hiccup is injured by a skittish Nadder.

9. Edge Of Disaster, Part 2-When Hiccup is falling towards the ocean his flight suit locks up and Toothless doesn’t catch him before he can hit the water. 

10. Shock and Awe-Hiccup is electrocuted by the Sea Shocker.

11. A Time To Skrill-When Hiccup and Toothless are knocked onto an old Dragon Hunter boat, Hiccup breaks four of his ribs in the fall, and his collar bone.

12. Maces and Talons, Part 1-Hiccup is captured with Heather, and they are both interrogated. 

13. Maces and Talons, Part 2-Hiccup is burned by one of the Typhoomerangs. 

Season 3

1. Enemy of My Enemy-Hiccup is branded in the face by the Dragon Hunters even after Dagur distracts them.

2. Crash Course-Hiccup is burned by the Cavern Crasher, badly, and has a dis-figuration on the left side of his face, blinded in one eye.

3. Follow the Leader-Hiccup is injured while trying to stop Snotlout and the twins from misusing Monstrous Nightmare Gel.

4. Turn and Burn-When Hiccup tries to shoot the Singetail from below, and has to duck out of the way when he realizes the dragon can fire from his belly, his whole back gets covered in heat-induced blisters.

5. Buffalord Soldier-AU whump, Hiccup is the one who gets the Scourge Of Oden.

6. A Grim Retreat-Toothless shoots Hiccup before Tuffnut can throw salt on him. Emotional and Physical Whump.

7. To Heather or Not to Heather-Emotional AU whump where Hiccup is Heather’s twin and Dagur’s younger brother. He takes it hard when she says she wants to leave, and there’s just a bunch of emotional conversations and people snapping at each other.

8. Stryke Out-Hiccup is forced to fight one of the dragons as a form of punishment. He has to knock the dragon unconscious with a mace to prevent it from killing Toothless who is tied up.

9. Tone Death-Hiccup has his ears damaged by Garf and has to learn sign language because it is so hard for him to hear if people aren’t right next to him.

10. Between a Rock and a Hard Place-Hiccup is thrown off of Toothless by the force of the Quakens, and damages his spine so he has to learn to walk again. In order to finish the mission of saving the dragons from the hunters, Fishlegs helps him make a temporary handle using a connecting rod so Hiccup can control Toothless’ stirrup with his hand since he can’t move his legs.

11. Family on The Edge-Emotional Whump in the Hiccup-is-related-to-Heather-AU

12. Last Auction Heroes-While locked up after being captured by Viggo, Hiccup is whipped in front of Gobber and the riders as a form of example, showing them what else will happen if they try to escape and attack him again.

13. Defenders of The Wing, Part 1-Hiccup is the one who defends Mala instead of Snotlout, and not only takes an arrow to the chest (shallow wound), but he has to deal with Mala suddenly having such interest in him, since he hasn’t decided rather his feelings for Astrid are romantic or not.

Season 4 

1. Defenders of The Wing, Part 2-Hiccup gets stepped on by the Eruptidon and it causes internal damage.

2. Gruff Around the Edges-When Tuffnut extends the wings of the flight suit, instead of going through the wall, the right wing hits Hiccup dead center, jabbing upwards and damaging his windpipe. 

3. Midnight Scrum-Hiccup’s neck is bruised and swollen from the damage Krogan’s chain did when it wrapped around him, and how tightly it was wrapped around him. 

4. Not Lout-Emotional and Physical Whump, the Ballista hits Toothless instead of Snotlout protecting him in time. Toothless is either severely injured, or killed, and Hiccup is knocked unconscious with severe bruising, not knowing what condition his bud is in until he wakes up.

5. Saving Shattermaster-When Hiccup yells for Toothless to ‘keep firing’ the Night Fury isn’t fast enough and Hiccup gets impaled by numerous falling arrows, pinning him down with arrows in his arms, legs, and shoulders.

6. Dire Straits-Hiccup is able to get out of the window of Death Song Amber instead of the Submirriper saving him, but when the window shatters it impales him. 

7. The Longest Day-Hiccup is blinded by a Shadowing.

8. Gold Rush-Viggo interrogates Hiccup after capturing him, using interrogation techniques that will not kill him, but are incredibly painful.

9. Out of The Frying Pan-Hiccup gets burned by a burst of lava that jumps up and hits his right leg. 

10. Twintuition-Hiccup aspirates water when the dome on Viggo’s base starts filling with it.

11. Blindsided-Astrid isn’t the only one who’s blinded. Hiccup is too. The difference is Toothless knows echo location and Hiccup has been so used to being guided by Toothless in dark areas he has learned to use Toothless’ echoes to guide himself, so can navigate much easier than Astrid can with Toothless’ help when they go to get Stormfly. 

12. Shell Shocked, Part 1-Hiccup is grazed by one of the ShellFire’s fireballs. 

13. Shell Shocked, Part 2-Emotional and Physical whump. Hiccup tries to save Viggo when he falls, and they both go down. Hiccup lands on a rock, though Viggo burns and the scene is one that haunts him nightly. Do to the sheer heat of being inside of the volcano, Hiccup develops many second degree burns, the heat first burning through his tunic’s front and sleeves, then leaving circle shaped burns once the protective cloth is gone. Astrid and the others save him, but it takes a bit to get that close to the volcano because they need Meatlug to go down into the volcano who can resist the sheer heat.

Season 5

1. Living on The Edge-Garf, in a moment of panic, shoots Hiccup in the ankle causing it to break. Hiccup has to save The Edge from the volcano all with a broken foot.

2. Sandbusted-Hiccup gets stabbed by some broken glass caused by the SandBuster.

3. Something Rotten on Berkser Island-When saving their dragons from the guarded stables, Hiccup is attacked from behind by a hunter who has a dagger, prepared to stab him between the ribs which causes lung damage. 

4. Snotlout’s Angels-Hiccup is shot by one of the female RazorWhips

5. A Matter of Perspective-Hiccup is blinded when the gust of a Sentinel Dragon causes him to hit his head (the irony)

6. Return of Thor Bonecrusher-While attempting to save Fishlegs, Hiccup is caught in a net trap that dislocates both of his shoulders. 

7. Dawn of Destruction-When he goes in to destroy his hut, Hiccup is shot by one of the Singetails and thrown off of Toothless into the rubble that was once his hut.

8. The Wings of War, Part 1-When Dragon Flyers invade the Defenders of The Wing island, Hiccup is blasted while protecting one of his riders.

9. The Wings of War, Part 2-When the Singetail pins Hiccup, Spitelout and Toothless don’t get to him in time, and Hiccup is temporarily blinded with singes around his eyes.

10. No Dragon Left Behind-Hiccup gets shot by a Slitherwing and his friends have to find the antidote. 

11. Snuffnut-While trying to help Ruff save ‘Snuffnut’, Hiccup gets burned by Changewing Acid.

12. Searching for Oswald...and Chicken-Hiccup is Heather’s twin and Dagur’s younger brother AU. Emotional Whump. Hiccup debates rather or not to read the note Oswald left for him because he knows Oswald had to have given Hiccup up to his father for some other reason than a peace treaty.

13. Sins of the Past-While fighting Krogan for the Dragon Eye lens, Hiccup is severely injured by Hookfang because Johan ‘accidentally’ freaks out and makes the dragon shoot at Hiccup.

Season 6

1. In Plain Sight-Hiccup isn’t able to dodge all of Johan’s knives.

2. No Bark, All Bite-Trying to save the dragons in the arena, Hiccup gets shot by the ballista.

3. Chain of Command-When he dives to catch Atali, Hiccup realizes he’s too close to the ground too late, and when he does catch her he and Toothless smash into the sharp-stone covered ground.

4. Loyal Order of Ingerman-While taking care of the kids, one fall ill and Hiccup has to take care of the little boy despite catching the same illness from said kid. Daddy-Style Hiccup taking care of sick kid even if he is sick too.

5. A Gruff Separation-When Hiccup saves Tuffnut from the Speed Stinger, he realizes Toothless is out of shots because they had been training previously, and so as a last resort he has to throw himself in harms way to save his friend.

6. Mi Amore Wing-The ArmorWing fires at Hiccup’s metal leg, burning it to his skin.

7. Ruff Transition-Hiccup is the one to help Ruff with Wingnut instead of Tuffnut, and winds up getting bit by the baby. He tries to hide the wound, saying it’s nothing, until it gets infected and he is on the line of fighting infection and losing his arm.

8. Tripple Cross-When the Skrill causes the giant explosion in the cave, Toothless’ tail is burned and Hiccup-not having fire proof skin like his Night Fury-takes burns all over the back half of his body, from his neck down to his ankle.

9. Family Matters-Hiccup is captured with the help of the mother Death Song and is interrogated for the information of his other riders.

10. Darkest Night-Emotional Whump, Hiccup has much more severe nightmares than we see in the episode.

11. Guardians of Vanaheim-Hiccup is struck by lightning instead of Snotlout.

12. King of Dragons, Part 1-Hiccup doesn’t dodge the ballista aimed for the Titan Wing Dramillion. 

13. King of Dragons, Part 2-Hiccup does get stabbed in the eye by Johan, but still manages to win the battle after Toothless blasts Johan and Hiccup uses thick leather to pretty much stuff the wound.

Awww! Thank you! I kept the Rescue Riders dragons out just ‘cause I don’t really consider them canon! They’re in alphabetic order! I’ll try to put all of them, but I don’t know if it’ll fit!
