This entire chapter was so hard to write AND draw... until you grasp that one thought and pull hard on it. Envisioning Nevarro like you're a gunslinger, an outlaw, wandering into a town clinging to the frontier really helped me crawl past artist's block.

My second thought after "guess I know what scene to conceptualize" was "Kendrick Lamar in the 'Humble' mv" and when when I dove into Shotdeck's archives for "beam of light", the very first image was from Kendrick Lamar's Humble mv. Are you shitting me.

I think I could've done more to emphasize how alone Din is in this chapter, but I may have played it too safe with the setting and that put limits on my ideas of what feelings I wanted to capture. Still think I nailed it, though.

I'm so excited for the next chapter, though. I sat on how I want to write and draw it for almost as long as I sat on how I wanted to write and draw chapter 7, so hopefully I'll have a much better time with that one.

Working harder on the things that are not working, is not going to make them work.

Simply putting in more effort into a flawed plan or method won't necessarily lead you to success. It's essential to reassess, adapt, and pivot when necessary.

People believe that by simply putting in more hours or effort, they can overcome any obstacle. While working hard is commendable, and in certain cases, it's important that make sure that the effort is directed in the right direction.

When we are faced with challenges, its important to be flexible and willing to change tactics. This might mean re evaluating your goals, or your strategy towards it. You need to be able to adapt to situations and have honest conversations with yourself about what is not working. Without allowing yourself to be open to feedback, either from yourself or others, you are going down a path of wasted effort.

The Sunk Cost Fallacy is an idea that because you have invested time, effort or money into something, that you should continue doing it, even when you are not getting results. It's important to recognize when to cut losses and pivot to a more effective strategy.

Sometimes, the solution isn't about working harder but thinking differently. It is about working smarter, not just harder.

Okay dumb side note while I'm in the middle of writing and research. Why tf did clay decide to build the PWT in Driftveil of all places? I understand it's his hometown but it's a city that specializes in shipping. The place would NOT have the infrastructure for a stadium like that. Building it in Nimbasa would have made a lot more sense. Don't even get me started on the fact that people would most likely be staying in Nimbasa when they visit Unova, which would mean if any large number of people were there to check out the PWT they either have to take the train or try their luck crossing Driftveil Drawbridge, which is NOT ALWAYS USABLE due to ships passing under it. ALSO, having tourist traffic coming through and delaying shipping traffic would be an absolute NIGHTMARE.

quick (relatively important) announcement

i uh. won't have the time to draw anything for this account for a while

long story short; I go to anime conventions in cosplays that I make myself, and I've got a couple coming up. I'm even a vendor at one of them, and I need to devote basically all my waking moments to sewing and putting together some stock to sell.

so i won't be back to drawing DoL art until early July at the best

Oh we’re doing that thing again where we pretend business degrees are useless so that way if (when) corporations commit serious crimes or influencers commit serious ethical violations we can all be like “lol they didn’t know anything business school only teaches two+2!”

Meanwhile the textbook lays out the exact scenario as what NOT to do in week 2. In a textbook that, weirdly, no businessperson ever cites. Despite it being almost universally taught in classrooms and lecture halls. Sure.

It’s almost like people are pretending there aren’t regulations to learn in hopes that they’ll go away…

And the general public making those jokes are falling for it…

But of course the jokesters you like would never lie to you so it must be something else! Surely they’ve learned nothing about the tax code to exploit loopholes! They definitely haven’t learned any dodgy marketing practices! They’d have to go to a class for that! And business schools only teach… 2+2.

Remember this: people on the internet will lie to you for money. Never believe anything without fact checking and ascertaining they don’t have a vested interest in lying.

If you believe this, you have fallen directly for a dodgy marketing tactic.

We can do this right now: think of every influencer you know in a research-heavy niche who is known for or suspected of cutting serious research corners. Now think of influencers you know that make jokes about how business degrees are useless. I suspect a pattern might be emerging.

Fashion merchandising, accounting, and marketing are all business majors. We literally have not finished the reckoning of how marketing uses psychology and sociology to manipulate people. Please, let’s pretend to be just a little bit serious. You are nodding along with “accounting majors? They don’t know how to do math!” (And keep in mind… we all have to take basic accounting classes. A lot of jokes made about business majors and business school are only specifically applicable to one type of MBA student.) Use your brains. Don’t let weirdos you don’t know making a living on the internet lie to you.

I just watched a YouTube video where everyone was laughing at the students and neither the host or the comments put together that teaching comprehensive business ethics is an avenue for teaching the more cynical students a roadmap on how to disregard ethics and get away with it. Why? Because the host implied either the students weren’t paying attention or the professor was lying about the coursework, and the audience believed him.

If you see someone doing this: click off the video. Immediately. They are not a trustworthy source of information.

I'm making my friend and I rosaries for our Ritual in July and I wanted to personalize his so I asked him to pick a Papa. Today he told me IV and said it is kinda like Dr. Who in that you pick your favorite Papa.

And if that isn't a revelation as to why having a series of frontmen is a fucking genius idea. I can't fathom losing the twins but MAN was that a fucking brilliant idea.
