I've been messaging with a 17yo kid from Gaza, named Nader.

When I asked what he wanted people to know about his family's situation, he immediately answered "the bitter cold".

Can you imagine being in this situation? Made homeless where the stores are no longer getting consistent deliveries and might be bombed, the government is barely operating cuz it keeps getting bombed, there's not even charity getting into your besieged area, and most people's jobs—including your big brother's—have been bombed beyond repair?

Where it's getting so cold and you CAN'T get warm because you're relying on strangers to help you get that coat or blanket, or bc you need the little money that trickles in to just survive??

And can you imagine living this way for OVER A YEAR as a normal teenager who has a little brother and a baby niece with malnutrition to stress about too?

I know people are tired of hearing about Gaza. It's upsetting that this genocide has continued so long with so few powerful people even trying to stop it. But we have a responsibility to our fellow humans, to help them survive persecution.

Nader is seventeen. None of this should be on his shoulders. Please help his family be safe so he can stop feeling like it's his job to make sure his family has what they need.

maaau ("almost my people") are the closest living relatives to maanuls. They share the same tribe, but not the same genus. Species of the same genus as modern maanuls are extinct. Mainly through diseases, genetic bottleneck, hybridization, inability to survive environmental changes, food sources going extinct, species competition during famine related to food source extinctions, etc. Contradictory to spread out in-world belief due to a poor understanding of natural history in the general population, Maaaus isn't an ancestor who'm maanuls evolved from. They are their own species, who evolved alongside maanuls but for a different available niche. They do descend from a common ancestor who arrived at the western coast millions of years ago. And said ancestor was closer to the current family the kyhuines species belong to, than modern maanuls and maaus are. While maanuls, kyhuines and mierthri may be called "cousin species" by me all around my blog, they are several sub-orders away from each others. So it is somewhat of a stretch at times, and more of an in-world thing to say. Some places will consider kyhuines and mierthri more of a cousin to maanuls than maaaus are, when biologically speaking maaaus is their closest living cousin, not them. The distinction here is a social one they made up, in modern languages the distinction between a maanul, kyhuine, or mierthri isn't distinct, as they will share the common word that roughly translates to "people". Distinctions will be done via using other words if needed, such as in the medical field for example.

During early world history, many groups of Maanuls didn't know maaaus existed for a while. as the species itself is by default is extremely shy, and avoid being seen for it's own protection. Groups who interacted with them more weren't necessarily in contact with those unaware of the species. There was rumors of "little people" that would run into the reeds if it was spotted. Most people wouldn't believing it as no specimens were caught yet. The myth of "gnomes" originate from early sightings of maaaus from mainly children or intoxicated people. Gnomes in nuinuk art (place where this folkloric and mythological creature takes a large role here) resemble a maaau with a maanul face and no arms. People confused their constant tucked arms for a lack of them.

It is considered that there are 4 species of maaaus. Knaan maaau (vague term for west coasts) or more commonly referred by Juaan maaau, is considered to be the ancestor of the other 3 species. Pigmy, Domesticated maaau, and inland maaau are the result of maanul interacting with the species. By either domestication or just picking them to be on their boat during travel, and then introducing them to new environments. While there are more species living of maaaus than maanuls, maaau's have a much smaller world range than their larger cousin maanuls. Who have spread out on most coastlines, thousands of islands, inland seas regions, some maanul populations even remaining in the artic sea all year. The original range maaaus had was quite small, more than half of their modern range is from maanul interactions.

other post died, im disabled and basically my primary source of income is paid by the social security administration, which if you are familiar you know is less than minimum wage and absolutely unlivable without financially secure family that also want to help you, which i do not have. my tiny income is currently on elon musks chopping block, and payment schedules are already getting Weird as the administration talks of cuts and lowering payments for their "debts." i make a total of $947 a month, and my rent this month is $1013. you can probably see why money is constantly tight. physical disability seriously limits the kinds of jobs i can even try to work, and with the direction things are going my financial security...does not look good.

i am currently trying to raise $142 to cover my rent, get some food groceries, and pay my last bill for the month. its a small bill, but a bill nonetheless. im a little sick atm with some kind of sinus infection but i am offering some quick elden ring kofi doodles as my comms are full and i cant take on more.

it was a warm summer day outside as you and your olderhusband!levi entered the super market.

levi loved planning, which was the main reason why you had a specific day every week when you’d go grocery shopping. it was sunday, since it felt natural to plan the next week’s meals, snacks and other stuff you needed. levi was usually the one who made the list, carefully writing every single thing down on a piece of paper. you often tried to suggest that you could just easily write them in the note app of your phone, but quite frankly, he didn’t trust mobile devices.

the piece of paper in your hand had a long list of items in it as he grabbed a cart. the air in the huge market felt cold on your bare legs, especially now since the air outside was humid.

levi was wearing a beige linen t-shirt with a pair of linen shorts while he pushed the cart around, sneaking peeks onto the list in your hands.

”okay, uh, first- onions, tomato… pomegranate? why?” you furrowed your eyebrows in confusion, surprised by the unexpected fruit.

”thought i’d make pomegranate salad for lunch tomorrow. the mix of sweet pomegranate seeds and salty feta is quite delicious” he commented. you chuckled as you began to load the cart with the listed items.

”right. cutting pomegranate is messy though, isn’t it? you sure you can handle it?” you teased with a knowing smirk. levi simply huffed.

”tch. i’ll make you cut it if you keep messing with me” he warned playfully, even though you knew it was a meaningless threat. levi loved to cook, especially for you.

you strolled through the aisles, picking what ever items you needed from cleaning supplies to chicken breast. the market was pretty much filled with people, especially parents with whiny babies, everyone was probably doing their weekly grocery shopping as well. you had picked the most awful time for your visit, since it was obviously the rush hour.

you looked down at the paper again, noticing the note ’food for petra’ next on the list. to your surprise, there was a mindless doodle of a cat’s face drawn next to it, as well. your husband was just adorable.

levi looked over at the cat food aisle’s options, a thoughtful hand rubbing his shaved chin. he reached for the top shelf on his tiptoes and grabbed a can of food.

he squinted his eyes to read the text. ”extra meaty” he said. ”should we take this? she loves meat and fish”

you grabbed the can and inspected the ingredients with a careful eye, before you shook your head.

”no, it doesn’t have enough veggies in it. pick something with more fiber”

levi picked another can, which had the text ’high fiber’ on the side. it was a better option, since it had both good protein and fiber sources in it. he placed a few more cans in the cart before you moved on.

as you walked by the small beauty section of the market, you couldn’t help but glance at levi. to your surprise, he was already looking at you with a side eye, clearly knowing that you’d want to stop by to look over what ever makeup or beauty products there was.

”we can walk through it, if you want”

you snickered, amused by the fact the man could read you so easily. you also respected the fact levi had patience with you and your interests. you often liked to check the newest make up brands or clothes or even plushies if you felt like it, but didn’t necessarily mean you’d be buying anything. even if levi was a man who enjoyed a schedule, a clear and specific way to do things, he didn’t mind standing by you as you curiously tried different shades of lip liners on the back of your hand.

”hmm, i don’t know, this feels like it’ll disappear in a second” you sighed as you brushed off a certain color from your hand, noticing how easily it dusted off. levi stood next to you arms crossed, his eyes looking at your hand as well.

”well, get the more expensive one. it’s the same shade, after all” he suggested, pointing at the other line next to the faded one, where you had tried the more expensive product. you turned your head to him, a surprised look on your face.

”it’s too expensive, levi. i’m not sure if i want it that bad” you argued back, even though you internally longed for that specific shade.

”tch. i’ll buy it, doll. it would suit you” he grumbled and took a fresh package, throwing it into the cart without question.

”levi!” you gasped. ”you don’t have to”

”no, i don’t. but i want to” he said with his usual stoicism, yet there was a genuinely soft look in his eyes as he looked over your face.

you sighed in defeat but smiled, knowing he was speaking the truth. levi would never do things he genuinely didn’t want to do – even for you. that was what made your relationship so healthy. you both had boundaries and you both respected them.

”thank you, levi”

you walked through the last aisle, which mostly contained freezers. you loaded the cart with a few packages of frozen vegetables, falael and some ice cream. you also bought frozen, ready-to-grill patties, because you were planning to host another grill night next weekend. erwin and hange would be coming and they'd also meet petra for the first time, so it was an occasion you were eagerly waiting for.

at the cash, you both unloaded the cart while the cashier grumpily beeped them and began to pack your items. levi grabbed his wallet from the pocket of his shorts, and for a moment you were distracted by his unnecessarily perfect nose and side profile. his forearm flexed a little as he grabbed his credit card, the beige linen fabric neatly straightened for this shopping trip. levi looked so youthful for someone his age, even though he definitely had the wisdom and respect of an older man.

after you left the market, you had one more thing unmarked on the list – tea. you’d have to make a stop at levi’s favorite tea shop.

I released it early because I really couldn’t wait any longer(I was a bit busy all October and tried to draw some Halloween doodles🕺)

I particularly like the classic idea of ​​the Ambrosius werewolf and the Ballister vampire. Here Nimona is a being similar to Frankenstein (a combination), and the three of them are a strange little little monster family.

This is a cute little bit of knowledge that I accidentally learned. 🐕

When a wolf expresses intimacy with its partner, it will gently bite its nose or face to express love and protection.

Regarding Nimona's body🔪

it is made up of a lot of meat from different places. How and why it comes together is unknown. Physically, it seems to be temporarily put together with very rough sutures.

So sometimes when Nimona's body falls off accidentally, Ballister will help sew it back up (the parts he sewed have also become much stronger).

Finally, there is the eating habits of the three. 🍴

As for Ambrosius and Ballister, most of their food sources come from meat markets and underground hospitals. Ambrosius is still adapting to the taste of raw meat, while Ballister only needs a small amount of blood to survive.

(He can even drink coffee as a temporary substitute, and he also said that adding a small amount of blood to the coffee can make the coffee taste stronger)

And Nimona? Of course she can eat anything, and I am not lying when I say anything. She can even chew and swallow small metals. Her fangs are very hard and sharp, and she can bite off anything in her mouth (by the way, there is a knife stuck in her head, which can be removed, but she will keep it there for "personal style")

Fun Selfshipping Activities!

Print out pictures of them to hang up on your wall!

If they wear jewelry, make it!

Make stickers of them! (There's tutorials on youtube of how to make stickers at home, or, you can get sticker paper on amazon for pretty cheap!)

If you do make stickers, put them on your sketchbook, journal, laptop, or whatever you feel like putting them on!

Make a google slides presentation on them! Alternatively, you could also write an essay about them.

If they don't have a canonical style of handwriting, find or try to write in a way they would write!

If they do, try making your own font of their handwriting that you can download and use. Or, try to learn how to write similarly to them, maybe write letters to yourself from their perspective.

If they have a birthday or there's a holiday coming up (irl or canonical), make a card for them!

Make them in the sims, or some other character creation making game. Or you could make a Minecraft skin of them.

Draw them as a character from another source. For example, draw them as a pony from MLP, or draw them in the style of a cartoon you like!

Make a playlist of Youtube videos you'd think they'd enjoy watching, and perhaps watch them again and pretend like you're watching them with your f/o.

Make food they canonically like, or you'd think they'd like!

Make a tier list as if they were making it! Like a fruit tier list, for example.

Compile an Amazon list or Pinterest board of clothes they would wear!

If you're able, buy snacks you think they would enjoy!

Name a stuffed animal after them or name a stuffed animal something you think they would name it.

Make yourself a sticky note as if they made it (like a doodle, a simple 'I love you', or something silly!)

If your f/o has a particular interest, look into it! Study it even, if you'd like!

Take quizzes as if you were them. Could be something serious, or something silly you find on uquiz.

If your f/o is romantic and you would want to have children with them, pick out baby names! Compile a pinterest board of baby clothes or toys you and your f/o would purchase together.

Gristol, Head of HR AU

Where Gristol bitched too much about how poorly ran the Psychonauts is, even citing his sources, and inexplicably gets hired as the Head of HR for his community service.

Basically, before Gristol gets his verdict, Sasha's assigned to see what's up w him to figure out what's a good punishment.

Gristol spends like a long time ranting about how piss poor the Psychonauts is managed. As he was supposed to blend in, he researched EVERY ethic and code that the psychonauts were oblidged to as he wanted to fit in. His mother never wanted him to end up like his father, so she forced him to learn management and strategy as a kid, and he's DAMN well good at it, except for being a leader. As a stress reliever he'd written down everything wrong with management, and how he'd fix it, for the past 3 years of him working there. Employee's who constantly breached conduct, how shit the hiring security was, etc etc

Sasha sees his manifesto and is like, somewhat impressed with it. He sends it off to Truman, whose also surprised with it.

At first, Gristol tries to escape for like, a month. But then he realized this was the best he was going to get, seeing that he did not have any other skills than management and planning, or even a certified high school degree.

He's actually good at his job, improving employee wellfair and turnout by around 12%. He takes it extremely seriously but at the same time he doesn't want to be there, he's grumpy and it kinda puts everyone off.

Even though he's lived through the life of the common person and what they need, he still believes in Grulovia's dictatorship. His empathy and sudden want for change in management was a result of going through it himself, so he's mostly just serving what he would've wanted. Big ol hypocrite.

Managing a single department has kind of turned him off the idea of trying to be Gzar entirely. He realized the hard way he's not suited for leadership roles.

For like the first few months, he's forced to sit in a little desk next to Truman's with a shitty little typewriter. He's put there because Truman needs to see his performance + it's funny to him. Eventually though he gets really bad backpain from crouching over to type on his little typewriter, and does get his own little office.

Hollis NEVER agreed to hiring him, and was really pissed when Truman did it without her input. They spend a lot of their first interactions arguing, but they do eventually get along somewhat, sharing the same annoyance on dumb decisions Truman or Employees did. They're still hostile but like, they won't try to kill each other anymore.

Gristol has what he needs, he's provided simple accommodations (a small room with a shitty kitchen and a small bathroom) and an allowance (300-500 a month, it's mostly fun + food money).

Lori was originally going to give him a "Best Mail Clerk!" mug, but then the events of Psychonauts 2 happens and she never gets to give him his mug. When he gets hired as head of hr, she cancels out Mail Clerk from the mug and written down "head of HR"

One of Gristol's duties is to water Truman's plants in his office.

Gristol initially tried to have Raz fired, (everyone thought it was because he was salty Raz ruined his plans, nah it's because y'know he's 10) but with Truman's insistence he stayed on, Gristol had updated his contract. Raz is only permitted to go on less dangerous missions and more frequent mental health inspections. He might've had to forge some documents to be able to register Raz to work. Maybe.

Hey @five-rivers, happy truce! I decided to go with your prompt about danny attending a cultural ritual or event, and themed it around the far frozen. My explanation for it got a little longwinded so I've included it under a read more, along with a little extra art!

(tumblr’s probably gonna crunch all of these up a bit, so click for better quality)

I'll be honest, I haven't actually thought out the exact details of what this event would be, just the broad strokes - I tend to gravitate towards food as a source of celebration in my own worldbuilding, and I guess that bled through here as well in the form of “ice = water = probable fish based diet = important fish event?”

During drafting I couldn’t really decide between “event centred around observing fish migration and/or other seasonal habits” or “Danny being invited to come fishing with Frostbite and the other yeti”, but honestly I think either of those would probably fit. Originally I had planned to have one or two yeti characters swimming around with him to make the piece more dynamic, but a surprise attack from a migraine kind of cut into my plans a bit and I decided to downsize.

...at least until I got annoyed by the lack of a visible ghost friend in the piece and decided to paint a “small” “”extra”” “””doodle””” which rapidly turned into a whole other Thing,

There are shockingly few ghost fish in the show, apparently, or at least I could neither remember nor find images online of any examples, so I just kind of winged it. Their design is partially inspired by a short story you wrote a while back, although I ended up drifting away from the zebrafish motif as I was drafting them. I started thinking of them as maskfish as a stand-in name, and then promptly forgot to think of a better one, so. Maskfish it is. Here's some random notes I made while conceptualising them, because I constantly have specbio on the brain and couldn't not think about it

Maskfish flesh turns an opaque pale colour when cooked, and remains translucent when raw

Their eyes are covered in a clear, hard exterior, and can be hollowed out and sterilised for use in various crafts; along similar lines I could also see their bones being used to make glues, paints, and other such resources.

Their cores are located at the top of the spinal cord, in the head; their mouths are located on the underside, beneath the "mask", which makes up the entire top part of the head, and is a singular piece of a shell-like material.
