So, you made it to Yokohama?
You made a blog for your character, but don't know how to interact?
Welcome again, traveler! You've made your sideblog. You've built your character. And now you're standing at the edge of the city, wondering:
"Okay but like… how do I ACTUALLY roleplay with people???"
Let me help you with that.
→ WRITE A STARTER POST
You just post in-character. For example:
You can use these tags: #bsd rp#bsd#bsd rp blog#bsd roleplay#bsd oc blog#bsd rp starter#starter#rp starter#open rp#ask to join or you think about your own.
So, other people can reblog your post, add their character's reaction and BOOM... The scene begins! :D
→ SEND A ROLEPLAY ASK
If you see someone you'd love to interact with, go to their inbox and send something like:
⚠️ Always include your character's blog name at the end, so the other person knows who you're playing and can respond properly.
⚠️ Tumblr only allows main blogs to send asks, so if you're using a sideblog (like most do), you'll need to send it anonymously.
⚠️ You can't send images anonymously, so if your scene idea needs a visual (like a letter, a map, etc.), send it from your main blog – but don't forget to include your RP blog name!
→ YOUR CHARACTER IS PART OF THE PORT MAFIA
If your character is part of the Port Mafia, there's one extra step:
The mafia here has a hierarchy. Please message @join-the-pm and think about which department your character would fit in. It'll help others understand your role in the organization and make plotting way easier.
→ NOT SURE WHO TO PLAY WITH?
No problem, that is what the @bsd-rp-masterlist is for!
You can browse by affiliation and think:
"I have a character in the ADA and want to talk to a coworker."
or
"My OC is in the ADA and wants to stir up trouble with the Port Mafia."
→ HOW DO RP CONVERSATIONS WORK?
Once a scene starts, you write/play by reblogging and replying to the other person's post. It becomes a beautiful chain of interactions like:
You → Them → You → Them → You…
Like here with my @holya-the-tremere:
Each time, you add your reply under the last post, by clicking reblog.
⚠️If it's a group thread, always reblog from the most recent post, not the original! Multi-threading is fun, but it gets chaotic fast if people reply out of order.
→ TALK OOC (OUT OF CHARACTER)
If you're unsure how to continue or want to plot something specific: just ask! You can write in your reblog/answer:
ooc: I must go to sleep soon!
like here:
Or you can write it in the tags, because they're not shown in the visible RP thread and only appear when someone checks the reblog details. It's a subtle way to add comments or thoughts without interrupting the flow of the scene.
→ ARE THERE RULES, HOW I WRITE?
There are no strict rules. Some people write short & fast, others write paragraphs. Some love angst, others prefer fluff. As long as you're kind and respectful, you're doing it right. ASK if you are not sure!
→ FIND YOUR STYLE!
When you write you can choose how to write it:
*what character does* What character says!
or
what character does "What character says!"
etc. It is totally up to you how to handle this. :)
→ AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART?
You don't have to wait to be picked. You can be the one who starts the story. You belong here. Promise. 🖤

If I want to get into Touhou lore, where should I start? the wiki is apparently unreliable, and from what i've played of the games they're rather low on details.
The wiki is fine- because it contains the entire text of all the print works and games (Generally, if something on the wiki has Japanese text on the left hand side and English text on the right hand side, like the following, it's reliable.)
The plaintext articles themselves are written by Touhou fans, which are an interesting bunch with their own ideas on everything and thus less reliable. But if you don't want to wikidive for translations, my personal recommendation of where to start is:
Touhou Suzunaan ~ Forbidden Scrollery

Volumes 1-7 (that is to say, the whole thing) are available for purchase on Amazon (in English) if you're into that sort of thing, but it's also on Mangadex and the like. It is a series from the perspective of a girl living in the human village, who knows very little about the broader workings of Gensokyo as a whole. As such, it's a very good introduction for a beginner (since you get to learn as she does).
After that, my recommendation is Wild and Horned Hermit (another manga, starring Ibaraki Kasen, a "hermit" and busybody), Perfect Memento in Strict Sense and Symposium of Post-Mysticism (text of these is available on the wiki), and any of the fighting games (they tend to be far more story-heavy than the shmups, but do require English patching. My first recommendation for these is Scarlet Weather Rhapsody, as it stars quite a lot of recurring characters, then Urban Legend in Limbo, followed by Antinomy of Common Flowers). As for the shooting games, their scripts are also available on the wiki, but if you want to actually play them, I recommend starting with Touhou Youyoumu ~ Perfect Cherry Blossom if you're willing to go for piracy, and Touhou Fuujinroku ~ Mountain of Faith if you're not (it's on Steam). There are also a couple of ongoing manga, but you might have a hard time following them if you're not up to date on some of the older print works.
If you want to understand what I refer to as "Hifuu", you'll want to read the stories of the music CDs (also on the wiki), starting with Ghostly Field Club (Dolls in Pseudo Paradise is its own thing). This is mostly self-contained, however (apart from some cross-references with a certain character).
That should be it, mostly! If you have an idea of what interests you the most about Touhou, let me know and I can find works catering to that particular interest.

Alright, let's get in to the Nitty-Gritty:
Jealous Rage > Replaces Sacrifice Mode / Double Edged Hell Mode (Formerly Moroha / Goku Moroha respectively)
(Blood Packs / Life Loss appear to be reworked.)
Bonding and Dissolving > Formerly Ketsugou [Union]
Changing and Swaying > Formerly Shousei [Ignition] (Also Derived from Henshitsu [Deterioration])
Haul and Heed > Formerly Ken'in [Traction] (Was also a Forcebreak Evasive move Kihi [Evasion] at one point.)
Intertwine and Tilt > Derived from Shoukyaku [Erasure] / Kashitsu [Accident]
Menace and Groan > Masshou [Excision] Restriction and Constraint > Fukumetsu [Ruination] (Also partially derived from Dangoku [Damnation], the final hit in her Rekka combination...)
Frenzy and Astonishment *NEW Move* (Likely partially derived from Danzai [Conviction] due to its Super Armor Properties...)
Judgement and Sentiment (Fully Derived from Danzai [Conviction] the move itself)
The Law is Key, Key is King *NEW Move* (Likely partially derived from Henshitsu [Deterioration] but is also a variant of Shoukyaku [Erasure] in the animation)
Jealous Rage (The Law is Key, Key is King) *ALSO New Move* (Partially derived from Houshoku [Engorgement])
Keeper of the Key (Derived from Shouko: Intoku [Evidence: Concealment])
Moves Lost in the Transition:
Dangoku [Damnation] Bunri [Separation] (Note: This move occurs automatically now) Konzetsu [Eradication] (Not sure how her air attacks will work, but likely air combos will be less complicated now) Lost Overdrives: Shouko: Inmetsu (Ouro) [Evidence: Extinction (Outward)] Shouko: Inmetsu (Fukuro) [Evidence: Extinction (Inward)] Shouko: Bakumetsu [Evidence: Annihilation] Lost Instant Kill: Muchi no Yami [Ignorance of Darkness] (Note: Keeper of the Key is derived from this move to an extent)
Final Note: For the most part she's been revamped for Strive's Mechanics, not to mention probably has a new Wild Assault and probably isn't as affected by *Knockdown Syndrome* as she used to be (hopefully).
Here's hoping we see how she interacts with others in Team of 3 soon!

✧・゜ how to radiate confidence in social situations (even when you're screaming inside) ゜✧:・゜✧

hey lovelies! ✧
let's be honest - we've all been there. standing in a room full of people, smile plastered on, while our internal monologue is having a complete meltdown. that was literally me last weekend at this networking event where i knew absolutely no one and spent the first 15 minutes hiding in the bathroom (classic me behavior).
but over time i've collected some little tricks that help me appear confident even when my insides are doing gymnastics. thought i'd share in case any of you are fellow social anxiety girlies too!
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ the body language hack ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
our bodies can actually trick our minds into feeling confident. before entering any intimidating social situation, i find a private spot (usually the bathroom, let's be real) and stand in a "power pose" for two minutes. arms on hips, shoulders back, chin up. it feels silly but it genuinely changes my nervous system.
another tiny thing: keep your hands visible, not crossed or hidden in pockets. something about this signals confidence to others and eventually to yourself.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ prepare your conversation toolkit ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
nothing makes me panic more than awkward silence, so i always have a mental list of conversation starters ready. not just "what do you do?" but questions that actually lead somewhere interesting:
"what's been keeping you busy outside of work lately?"
"have you read/watched anything good recently?"
"what's something you're looking forward to this year?"
the secret is asking questions that you genuinely want to hear answers to. people can sense authentic curiosity, and it takes pressure off you to be "interesting" when you're focused on being interested.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ the "i belong here" mindset shift ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
this one changed everything for me. i used to walk into rooms thinking "i hope they like me" which immediately put me in a position of seeking approval. now i try to shift to "i wonder if i'll like them."
it's such a subtle change but it puts you in the position of the observer rather than the observed. suddenly you're not auditioning for acceptance - you're just seeing if this person/group is your vibe.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ embrace the awkward ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
the biggest confidence killer is trying to be perfect. there's actually something magnetic about someone who can laugh at themselves when they trip over a word or spill their drink.
i've started just naming the awkwardness when it happens: "well that came out completely wrong, let me try again!" people actually connect more with your humanity than your perfection.
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ the 5-second reset ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
when i feel myself spiraling into overthinking, i use this tiny reset: i take a deep breath, count to 5, and remind myself that most people are too worried about themselves to be analyzing me.
seriously, the same insecurity that makes you worry about what others think is the exact thing that prevents others from thinking about you as much as you fear!
⋆.ೃ࿔:・ aftercare is essential ・:࿔ೃ.⋆
confidence isn't just about how you act in the moment - it's also about how you treat yourself after. i used to dissect every interaction, cringing at everything i said.
now i have a rule: no social autopsies. instead, i celebrate that i showed up at all. sometimes i'll even buy myself a little treat on the way home as a "well done for being brave" gift.
remember, true confidence isn't the absence of fear - it's just the decision that something else is more important than that fear. and with practice, those screaming-inside moments get quieter and less frequent.
what about you? any confidence hacks that help you in social situations?
xoxo, mindy 🤍

The Ultimate Universe Falls Starter Guide!

Hey, you! You, reading this post! Have you heard about a fun little Gravity Falls/Steven Universe crossover fanfiction known as Universe Falls? Well now you have! Welcome to the club! This post is meant to introduce you to all things there is to know Universe Falls in one conscise place. Keep in mind that this post assues that you already are fully familiar with the plot and characters of each show individually, and will only really cover fic-specific things.
Now those of you who are already familiar with UF may be wondering, Jen, what is this post? Well, its mostly meant to be an introductory guide to help folks who stumble across my blog and may be interested in checking UF out, but are initially indimidated by it for whatever reason. It'll broadly introduce terms and concepts and characters unique to the fic, as well as connect you with valuable rescources to get the most out of all of the UF content there is to consume. So with that intro out of the way, let's get started!
What the Heck Is a Universe Falls Anyway?
Universe Falls is a silly idea I had back in 2015 (that's right, 10 years ago!) that aimed to combine the plots of Gravity Falls and Steven Universe into one narrative. The basic gist is that instead of settling in Beach City back in the day, the Crystal Gems make their base in Gravity Falls, intruiged by all of the strange creatures that live there. Hence we have Steven and Connie, who already live there, meeting and befriending Dipper and Mabel (who are spending the summer with their Grunkle Stan) to form a group fondly referred to as the Mystery Kids. Throughout the summer, they experience plenty of adventures, perils, life-lessons, and maybe even save the world a few times. You know, normal kid stuff. Mix in all of your favorite GF and SU characters, and you have a unique blend of the stories of both shows, melded together to create something that's both a little familiar and a little new, with plenty of unexpected twists along the way.
Vibe Check Time! What Can I expect?
When it comes to UF, you can expect... pretty much anything tbh. From tooth rotting fluff to the most devestating angst you've ever read, UF kinda covers it all. It has plenty of lighthearted, fun moments towards the beginning, but as we go along, things start to gradually get darker (much like they do in the canon of both shows). I will say, this fic is rated T for a reason, and its tags on Ao3 are fairly accurate. The main ones I should point out are harm to children, blood/violence, and emotional trauma. Generally though, I do try to keep to the vibes of both of the shows UF is based on, so that's mostly what you can expect.
Wait, Didn't You Already Write This Fic?
I did, again ten years ago. I stopped working on it around 4 years ago, largely due to burnout and a variety of other factors. But with the revival of the GF fandom thanks to the Book of Bill, I was struck with the inspiration to pick the fic up again last year! Hence we have what I refer to as "New UF". New UF is a revised version of the OG fic, rewritten from the ground up with a lot of the fat trimmed from it. I'm trying to get to major plot and character points as quickly as possible, so some might feel it has something of a quick pace, but I think it's just right, really, to keep the fic from feeling like its dragging its feet the same way it used to. New UF has frequent updates, each with their own accompanying artwork, so you can not only expect new content to read, but new content to feast your eyes upon too! A win win for everyone! (BTW before you ask, the original UF is still up; you can read it if you want, but I wouldn't encourage it. It's kind of a mess writing-style wise).
UF? UF2? UFF? Why so many UFs?
If you stick around my blog for any extent of time, you may hear the terms UF2 and UFF thrown around. UF2 stands for Universe Falls 2, UF's eventual sequel covering the second summer after UF. As UF1 ends after the events of Weirdmageddon on the GF side and roughly around the beginning of season 4 on the SU side, we still actually have a lot of ground to cover, and that's where UF2 comes in. Granted, since I'll be out of GF content to adapt by then, there's going to be a lot of really interesting original content that comes into play to look forward too, along with the rest of SU. UFF stands for Universe Falls Future, a sequel series set two years after the events of UF2 which covers the events of Steven Universe Future, but again, has plenty of original content of its own to balance things out. At the time of this writing, neither UF2 or UFF have been written yet, but rest assured I have both pretty much planned out completely from beginning to end because I'm just unhinged like that.
"Seasons"? Bitch, this is a fanfic, not a TV show.
I know lol. So let me explain. I categorize chunks of UF into what I like to call "seasons", mostly to keep myself on track. They don't really mean anything outside of various bundles of chapters that are close together. For instance, Season 1 or S1 of UF is everything from the start of the fic up to Mirror Gem and Waterfall Gem. S2 is everything from Irrational Treasure to Gideon Rises. And so on and so fourth. You can check out the full season list, and a full (semi correct bc its kinda always changing) UF chapter list here on the official UF wiki (btw, we have a Wiki).
Who are all these Blorbos?
So while UF mainly focuses on actual canon characters from both shows, it does have a small handful of original characters in more minor roles to flesh things out. You'll likely hear some of their names thrown out from time to time, so here are the major ones you need to remember:
Stepper and Maven: My babies! These two are probably pretty obvious, but Stepper is the fusion of Steven and Dipper and Maven is the fusion of Steven and Mabel. They both show up a handful of times throughout UF and I love them both dearly.
Dipevebel, Convenper, and Mabonnven: The "trifusions" as I like to call them. They're vairious combo fusions of our four Mystery kids (or MK): Dipevebel is Steven, Dipper, and Mabel; Convenber is Steven, Dipper, and Connie, and Mabonnven is Steven, Connie, and Mabel. We also have Stonipbel, who is the fusion between all four of them.
Aaron and Allison Pines: Dipper and Mabel's parents. We know nothing about these characters in canon, but fuck it, this is my house and I do what I want with them, so we have Aaron, who is kind of a bit of an anxious loser and a bit emotionally absent (while still caring about his kids) and Allison, who is super strict and kind of not the nicest person in the world. They're mentioned a handful of times in UF, but they don't actually show up until towards the end of UF2.
Stonemason: OK so this one requires a bit of an explaination and a bit of UF2 spoilers, so feel free to skip if you need to. The best way I can sum him up is to quote the UF wiki: Stonemason is a cybernetically enhanced human assassin created by Yellow Diamond with assistance from Bill Cipher. The first and only successful product of the Human Bioweapon Operation, Stonemason is a separate entity that is implanted in Dipper's mind, taking control of his body to undertake his orders to shatter "Rose Quartz" (aka). Stonemason makes his debut in Universe Falls 2, where he is a major antagonist for a majority of the fic." So yeah that's a lot, and if you have any questions about that, feel free to ask. Also, all that ^^^ is why Dipper has a yellow metal arm following the halfway point of UF2 in all art I draw post that point, basically his arm was amputated and replaced with a shapeshifting metal one. Ya know, like ya do.
Amber: Amber is a Gem who is related to the whole Stonemason arc mentioned above. She's created to basically be a nurse to humans in Yellow Diamond's human bioweapon program, and eventually ends up developing a close bond with Dipper, despite her assignment.
You mean these MK Poly? I sure do
Ok, so shipping is dumb. I think we can all agree on that right? Buuuuut it does lead to some pretty interesting character dynamics, hence why we see a little of it in UF. Namely between our starring kiddos. Before I continue let me make it extremely clear that there is no incestuous content of any kind in Universe Falls, that shit is fucking gross and I won't tolerate anyone claiming that I engage in that, cause I don't. As for the actual poly MK ship, essentially, its that all these kids (save for the twins, obviously) are in love with each other. So we get Steven x Connie, but also Steven x Dipper (Stedip), Steven x Mabel (Stebel), Connie x Mabel (Conbel), Connie x Dipper (Conper) and eventually even Pacifica joins the polycule too so there's really a lot of fun dynamics to be explored in there. Idk ya'll don't get too hung up on the shipping element here. Love is love.
AUs of AUs? That's a Bit Redundant don't ya think?
Maybe so. But Universe Falls does have a whole host of Alternate Universes to its made, some made by me, some made by fans and my friends. The main UF AUS are Reverse/Diamond, Swap AU, and Relativity/Gem Kids, but there's plenty more you can read up on here on the AU page over on the wiki.
Nice Art, you ask a fuckass AI to make it?
Absolutely not. All my art is drawn by yours truly. You can look through my past works here on my blog using the tag "Jen Draws" or check out my DeviantArt page.
How do I solve those Goddamn Codes?
Each chapter of UF has a cryptogram to accompany it, mostly just meant to carry the spirit of Gravity Falls and do some fun references and foreshadowing. Every code in new UF can be decoded using a keyword that's found somewhere in the author's notes at the start of each chapter, usually the word relates back to the chapter itself. As a bonus hint, this is the website I use to create all my codes, and you can decode them there as well: https://themysteryofgravityfalls.com/
Cool stuff. Where can I read this thing/learn more?
This is the part where I mostly just list off a bunch of helpful links and such for folks who want to read/explore UF. Starting with, where you can read it! I post all new chapters here on tumblr, but UF's main home is on Ao3 (though I do still crosspost to FanFiction.net for some goddamn reason). The links to the fic itself are listed below:
Universe Falls on Ao3
Universe Falls on FanFiction.net
You can also read up on all of the hot UF lore on the official wiki! Please note that this wiki is still very much a work in progress, and if you want to help us build it, please feel free to!
You can also check out my Discord server for more exclusive UF content and conversations! This is honestly the best place to check out all things UF, especially to get a pulse on what fans are creating surrounding the fic. I won't post the link here bc Discord links expire, but if you're interested in joining up, please PM for an invite!
Aw, we're already done? But I got even more questions!
Then feel free to hit up my inbox! It's always open and I'm always down to discuss UF with ya'll. With all that said, if you do decide to check UF out, I sincerely, wholeheartedly hope you enjoy it (and I hope it overtakes your every waking thought the same way it has mine lmao)

What runs/stories do you recommend for someone starting WW? Could you please be specific (/nicely)
Yeah ofc!
My Wonder Woman Starter Recs (specific style 😎)
First stops: for an initial introduction to Wonder Woman, I'd generally recommend going to at least one of three places first. These three are:
Wonder Woman: Historia: The Amazons by Kelly Sue DeConnick
Wonder Woman: Year One by Greg Rucka
Wonder Woman: the Hiketeia by Greg Rucka
Of these I generally recommend reading Historia first, as it's a retelling of the origin of the Amazons as a race and how Diana came to be (so it essentially starts from the beginning) and is also the most recent of the them (if that means anything). Something to note about Historia though is that it's a DC Black Label book, so it's events aren't strictly canon in the main DCU and there are some changes and new elements present. I don't think this is something that should discourage anyone from reading it though, it's the best WW origin story out there, and even in strict main canon over the years her origin is one that has had many fluctuations and small (& sometimes big) changes. WW:Historia is three prestige format (longer) issues.
You'll notice the third book there is WW: The Hiketeia. Hiketeia is a great book if you're looking for a view into Diana as a professional and experienced hero. It's a graphic novel so standalone and not too long, and has a great Diana and really interesting plot (Diana vows to protect a young woman and finds herself pressed against the wheels of Greek Tragedy). This is also the first work with Diana done by Greg Rucka, one of her most prolific and loved writers. A sampling of this work (and also Historia) I think gives a good guide to where to go next in terms of runs on her main title.
Wonder Woman: Year One is the second book on the list up there, but I'm mentioning it last here as it's a bit more complicated in terms of format. Unlike other year one books, WW: Year One is actually a series of issues on her main title, showcasing Diana's arrival to man's world in Rebirth (and also current p sure) continuity. The issue numbering for this one is strange (only the even issues 2-14 on WW (2016)) so I recommend looking for this in trade form if possible.
These 3 books I think give a taste of some of the best standalone stuff in the Wonder Woman mythos, and give the reader a good idea of where they may want to go next in terms of longer runs on the title. So I'll break that down here as a Step 2.
STEP 2: WHERE NEXT?
Here I break down some highly recommended runs based on what they have in common with the standalone books from step 1. As a rule, these runs are going to be much longer than the above and generally more connected to the wider DCU and other books. Look for the italics to see the introduction to each new work. Explanation paragraphs follow after each italic/bold rec.
Curious about Greek mythology in WW and the Amazons' origins after reading Historia? Liked the prescence of a supporting cast and Diana learning about Man's World from Year One? Willing to read a longer run? I recommend: Wonder Woman by George Pérez
George Pérez's time on Wonder Woman totally reinvented the character after Crisis on Infinite Earths, and is fundamental in establishing many core concepts of her lore. At 62 issues, 2 annuals, and a 4-issue crossover event at the end (War of the Gods), it's definitely a commitment to read, but it's the most enduring and well-loved run on Wonder Woman for a reason--it's just that damn good. Lots of focus on mythology (although with a lighter tone than Historia) alongside Diana learning her role in relation to Man's World & establishing herself as a hero and ambassador. Pérez's run also has almost-certainly the most expansive and developed supporting cast in WW comics, something that really drives the emotional core of the series, especially in later issues. Obligatory note that this series was written between 1987 and 1992 and contains some very occasional aspects that I thought were in some way dated/uncomfortable etc. while reading (details of Cheetah's origin, depiction of the Bana-Mighdall, Hercules) but despite that I still highly, highly recommend this run. The word fundamental cannot begin to describe it.
Liked the experienced Diana of the Hiketeia? Interested to see her attempt to balance the high stakes responsibilities of an ambassador and superhero? Looking for some really badass moments and fights? Haven't read enough terrible tragedy? I suggest: Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka 2003 EDITION.
Some of Diana's coolest moments of all time are collected here. Also one of her most controversial. The 1st Rucka run is very much the story for anyone who liked the Diana of the Hiketeia and the tragedy of that and Historia. 2003 Rucka Diana is a Diana tested, forced to make decisions that are anything but easy, and live with the consequences. She's extraordinarily capable, but her enemies know that and are prepared to that end. This run, along with the Pérez run, rank among my favorite Wondy comics of all time (those and Historia are my top 3). This run is such peak Diana, especially in terms of sheer badassery. Her final confrontation with Medusa is in my opinion perhaps the greatest Wonder Woman fight scene of all time. Her encounter with Athena in the second-to-last issue breaks me every time. Cannot recommend this book more.
*a note abt this run is that it is more context-dependent than the other ones listed here, as it's the run that finishes out the Wonder Woman vol. 2 book and so has some guest appearances from characters introduced in other prior runs (Artemis of Bana-Mighdall, Cassie Sandsmark, and Vanessa Kapatelis, to name a few). I read this run before knowing much (if anything) about any of them, and still enjoyed it a lot, so I wouldn't be worried about this really but just thought I'd mention it.
Rucka's 2003 run is published from Wonder Woman (1987) #195-226. You can also find it in trade and I believe(?) omnibus. Sometimes the Hiketeia is included in collections of this series, as the 03 run is thematically similar in many places, just with a much deeper look at Diana and the world & with higher stakes.
Liked the specific characters and plot threads of Wonder Woman: Year One? Want to see what happens with Diana's exile, or learn more about Barbara Ann? Want a Diana in between the extremes of young and highly experienced? Wonder Woman by Greg Rucka 2016 EDITION may be for you.
...yes I'm putting ANOTHER Rucka book on here. He writes a great Diana, what can I say. This run is the same one that Year One came out of, just the follow ups to that story and versions of the characters. I have this run listed as separate from Year One though, as there's some really big time skips since the events of that first volume. A lot of time has passed since then, and there's more history between the characters, not all of it without drama. This run continues to be weird with the numbering, as well as some artist changes, so I definitely recommend looking into reading this in trade format (physical or digital) if at all possible. My recommended reading order is WW 2016 by Rucka vol. 2 "The Lies" (Wonder Woman: Rebirth Special #1, followed by 2016 main title odd numbered issues 1-11), then Rucka 16 vol. 3 "The Truth" (odds 13-23) then Godwatch (evens 16 through 24) followed by 25? But The Truth and Godwatch combine near the end so that doesn't really work either. This run is so good but recommending it is such a pain because the numbering is so all over the place. On God I never know which order to read this in. Going to revoke my previous statement and say read it as Rebirth Special 1, then only odds 1 through 11, then from 13 through 25 normally. That may lead to some weirdness as you read because the two stories take place at different times and have different art styles, but they come together at the end pretty dramatically so I think it's less confusing to read it this way? Maybe? So strange bc this is one of the go to good starter runs and yet it's set up so unintuitively. If someone has a better way to read this then let me know and ill edit, ik this explanation is super confusing bc neither way to read it is totally ideal imo and I feel I definitely read it in a weird order.
Going to call that a good rundown of some of my greatest recommendations in terms of Wonder Woman comics. If anything wasn't fully clear here or anyone (not just anon) has questions or wants to talk abt WW comics/my choices feel free to send as many asks or dms as you want. Have a good day everybody, & as Diana says, may the glory of Gaea be with you <3
#slept on this post for longer than i wanted to but yeah 👍#ive got to go to bed now but this is how id do it#start w the great minis/short ones and then follow your favorite themes into the amazing longer runs#also ik there are some stuff ive seen recommended a lot that arent here. (namely the simone run and legend of ww by liz denae(?) but thats#bc i havent read them yet. also even if so idk if id send them rhere first when this exists#theres sooooooo much rucka on here to be so honest but i dont apologize. there for a reason#also didnt mention the other 2 runs i see starter recommended all the time which is nu52 and tom king bc uh no <3. we dont do that here.#yeah theyre easy to jump on bc they both start with 1 but theyre not a good representation of diana the amazons or why people like diana. or#in tk's case theyre just kind of mid/bad and weird.#idk. not worth mentioning so i didnt#anon if this isnt specific enough for you feel free to follow up. especially about the rucka 2016 because that one is weird with the reading#order and i think i only made it more confusing w my explanation there#diana of themyscira#reading guides#answered

[kicks down the door] GUESS WHO'S IN A NEW CAMPAIGN
I'm playing as Indigo, my pirate! They were built to be uncomplicated for one-shots, so it's been kind of interesting trying to dig into them to see what else they've got going on as a more fully realized creation, haha.
From left to right: Indigo, circle of stars druid; Debello, Justin's water genasi whispers bard; Everett, @ragsy's human(???) warlock; Tooth, @zincbot's shifter warlock; Cassa, @pretttydemonboy's dragonborn barbarian (and fellow pirate!); and our guide, whose name was taken from them, who is one of DM @entropyking's NPCs!
We've played three sessions so far and y'all I love every single one of these guys so much it's ridiculous. Bunch of weirdos (affectionate)
#dnd#dungeons and dragons#character art#illustration#fantasy art#gnome#genasi#dragonborn#the campaign premise is that we've all died and have been offered an opportunity to earn our way back to our lives#so for starters this is within the same canon timeline for indigo as Pirating One Shots as far as I'm concerned (likely in the future)#everett if it wasn't obvious is Not Human. he's got his own shit going on#also I pretty rarely include NPCs in these but 1) the guide has art so I didn't have to worry about trying to design them myself#2) I would kill and die for the guide. party member to me (literally cannot even join us on the adventure portions of the adventure)#everyone's PCs are so fuckin good though I'm having so much fun with this crew#debello#everett#tooth#cassa#the guide#my OCs#indigo#wonderneath#dungeons and doodles

The Southern Book Club's Guide To Slaying Vampires Sentence Starters
Starters based on the book by Grady Hendrix. Change pronouns/names as needed.
CW: NSFT, Religion, Gender Stereotypes, Women Centric, Angst
"Sometimes she craved a little danger. And that was why she had book club.”
“He thinks we’re what we look like on the outside: nice Southern ladies. Let me tell you something…there’s nothing nice about Southern ladies.”
"Let me tell you something…there’s nothing nice about Southern ladies.”
“Why do you pretend what we do is nothing?”
“Every day, all the chaos and messiness of life happens and every day we clean it all up. Without us, they would just wallow in filth and disorder and nothing of any consequence would ever get done."
"Who taught you to sneer at that? I’ll tell you who. Someone who took their mother for granted.”
“A reader lives many lives. The person who doesn’t read lives but one. But if you’re happy just doing what you’re told and reading what other people think you should read, then don’t let me stop you."
"I just find it sad.”
“We’re a book club. What are we supposed to do? Read him to death? Use strong language?”
"I wanted to pit Dracula against my mom."
“You’d rather get stabbed forty-one times than ruin the curb appeal of your home?”
“One thing I learned from all these books: it pays to be paranoid.”
“I've had three children and some man who's never felt his baby crown is stronger than me? Is tougher than me?”
“Being a teenager isn't a number, it's the age when you stop liking them.”
“I am not sure what the appropriate gesture is to make toward the family of the woman who bit off your ear, but if you felt absolutely compelled, I certainly wouldn’t take food.”
“What had been destroyed made what remained that much more precious. That much more solid. That much more important.”
“The problem with book club these days is too many men. They don’t know how to pick a book to save their lives and they love to listen to themselves talk."
“A no-good man will tell you he's going to change. He'll tell you whatever you want to hear, but you're the fool if you don't believe what you see.”
“You ladies read a strange assortment of books."
"We're a strange assortment of broads."
“Why is it always 'bitches'? As if men believed that word had some kind of magic power.”
“I think that it shows a remarkable lack of planning on [NAME]'s part. If you’re going to murder your best friend with an axe, you should make sure you know what you’re doing.”
"If you’re going to murder your best friend with an axe, you should make sure you know what you’re doing.”
“If ifs and buts were candy and nuts it would be Christmas every day,”
“The police think all kind of things. Doesn’t necessarily make them true.”
"“My husband has no more consideration for me than a dog."
"For years I’ve pretended I don’t know where he goes, or who those girls are on the phone, but every time he comes home, I lie there in bed beside my husband, who doesn’t touch me, who doesn’t talk to me, who doesn’t love me, and I pretend I can’t smell some twenty-year-old’s body on him”
"This is where we live, it's where our children live, it's our home. Don't you want to do absolutely everything you can to keep it safe?”
“You said you wanted to live where people watched out for each other, but what’s the good of watching if we’re not going to act?”
“Isn't that how every serial killer gets away with it for so long?"
“It made no sense, but sometimes you did a thing because that was just what you did, not because it was sensible.”
“Nightwalking men always have a hunger on them. They never stop taking and they don't know about enough."
“These false prophets come wandering into town, take hold of your mind, and lead you down a primrose path... People fall for honeyed words.”
“What good is free love if nobody showers?”
“When I was a kid I didn't take my mom seriously."
"They took the hits so we could skate by obliviously, because that's the deal; as a parent, you endure pain so your children don't have to.”
“Great. Another man with his opinions.”
“We’re not a lynch mob, we’re a book club.”
"Don’t know how I’m going to survive for three weeks."
"[NAME] says we’re safe with his guns, but trust me, I’ve been dove hunting with that man. He can barely hit the sky.”
“Vacuum your curtains. No one ever does it enough. I promise it'll make you feel better.”
“Let's see if we can find from hydrogen peroxide for these bloodstains in the carpet."
“The only people who don’t apologize are psychopaths.”
“At the end of the day, some rich white people lost their money. Some poor black people lost their homes. That's just how it goes.”
“One thing I learned about men: they liked to talk.”
"Five children live in this house and it's eight years before the oldest one moves out. If I don't get some adult conversation tonight I'm going to blow my brains out."
"If I don't get some adult conversation tonight I'm going to blow my brains out."
“We’ve been cleaning up after men our entire lives. This is no different.”
“Some people use literature to understand their lives."
“We want the people we know to be who we think they are, and to stay how we know them.”
“Only boring people get bored.”
"Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to face it head-on."
“Once you've washed a man's underwear you realize the sad truth about hidden depths.”
"The true horror is not in the monsters themselves, but in the darkness they awaken within us."
“Don’t worry, [NAME], when we go off, we’ll be fully cocked.”
“[NAME], would you cheat on [NAME] with a stranger who showed up on your doorstep, with no people, and told you he was a vegetarian? You'd want to at least check his driver's license first, wouldn't you?”
“Like most elementary schoolteachers, [NAME] had drunk from the fountain of eternal late middle age."
“Stay here with me in reality. Things are so much better now than they were. Everyone's happy. We're all okay.”
“I need to be morbid."
“You wish that a gang of unwashed hippies would break into your house and murder your family and write death to pigs in human blood on your walls because you don’t want to pack bag lunches anymore?”
“No one likes their children. We love them to death, but we don’t like them.”
"In the darkest of times, it is the light of love that guides us through the shadows."
“If baseball’s a sin, I’m going to Hell."
“You’re on your side. Don’t ever fool yourself about that.”
“You’re both housewives. What else do you do all day?”
"I wish you would go home. I don’t want you here."
“There are more important things than cleaning."
“Another person knows what you taste like now."
"I will never forgive you for this. Never. Never. Never.”
“Stealing the mail is a federal crime.”
“If it had fangs, sharp teeth, or bloody lips on the cover, [NAME] bought it."
"The strength of a woman lies not in her beauty, but in her determination and resilience."
“He left no one behind, no children, no shared memories, no history, no one told stories about him. All he left to mark his passing was pain, and that would fade over time.”
“This is also a book about vampires. They’re that iconic American archetype of the rambling man, wearing denim, wandering from town to town with no past and no ties."
"The bonds of family can be both our greatest strength and our greatest weakness."
“You're going to book club me to death? Not invite me to your next meeting?”
“The problem with that is you would need extremely large pies to fit two children, even minced.”
“Was that what he’d been doing to [NAME]? Did he think he was eating blood?"
“They stabbed [NAME] forty-one times. What do you think that feels like? I mean, I think you feel every single one of them, don’t you?”
“Consider yourself invited."
“She tooted at the table, too, and tried to blame that on my four-year-old.”
"Evil thrives in ignorance. Knowledge is the weapon we must wield against it."
“If she says [NAME] is among the wicked, then it is our Christian duty to smite him."
“I’m against Halloween in all its forms because of the Satanism."
"The thing is you just keep living and it hurts all the time.”
"The South is a place of secrets and silence. We keep our darkest parts hidden away, buried beneath layers of hospitality and charm."
"A woman's love is fierce and unyielding, a force to be reckoned with."
"The true power of friendship lies in the ability to lift one another up, to offer solace and support when the darkness threatens to consume us."
"Darkness lurks in the most unexpected corners."
"In a world that often seeks to silence the voices of women, we must speak louder and fight harder for our truths to be heard."
"Sometimes the biggest monsters hide within the most charming faces."
"Fear can drive us to unimaginable actions, but it is in facing our fears that we find our true strength."
"Love and compassion can soften even the hardest hearts, breaking the chains of hatred and prejudice."
"The true monsters are not always the ones with fangs and claws, but the ones who lurk in plain sight, hiding behind a mask of normalcy."
"The power of a book lies not just in its words, but in the way it inspires us to take action."
